Do you usually take blame or blame others? Depends on the context, I guess? When things go wrong on a very deep and personal level between me and people I deeply care for, I usually try to find reasons to blame myself. But if it’s something superficial, like if someone messes up at work through no fault of my own, then I’m able to point my finger to whoever fucked up.

Have you ever been to a McDonald’s in another state? I’ve been to McDonald’s in different provinces and also in different countries. The McDonald’s we went to in Baguio was so surreal because we discovered that they were still using styrofoam containers that they had already phased out years ago everywhere else, and they also never changed the original spaghetti and chicken recipes I grew up with. It was such a blast from the past. As for other countries, I’ve tried out the McDonald’s in Malaysia, Indonesia, and China and made sure to order items that we didn’t have back home.

Have you ever seen 50 First Dates? Yeah, it’s one of my semi-guilty pleasures. It’s such a cheesy movie, but idk the concept is unique and the supporting characters made the whole movie enjoyable for me.

Do you like or hate the smell of fish? The fishy smell at the market can be pretty strong and bleck, but generally I don’t mind the smell of fish. I live in an archipelago, man. We live and breathe seafood. Idk anyone in real life who doesn’t like fish.

Have you ever been to Sea World? No.

Do you know someone who suffers from short term memory loss? I don’t think so, no.

Have you ever read any of John Green’s books? Yeah, but the only one I’ve gotten to read in full was The Fault In Our Stars. I also got to start on The Abundance of Katherines and Paper Towns, but because I only borrowed those copies from friends I never got to read either until the end. All were okay, but I don’t find John Green’s writing to be as great as it was once hyped up to be.

If so, which one is your favorite? I guess TFIOS, since that’s the only one I got to read through to the end.

Are you a protective person? With my loved ones and pets, yes.

Have you ever experienced an earthquake? Yeah I’ve felt a lot but fortunately it’s never been a severe one. Just super brief earthquakes where the most that happened to me was a little swaying.

Would you rather go to a beach or city for a vacation? I love beaches, but a change in scenery would also be nice because I already go to beaches for vacations fairly often. City.

Does your license plate number contain the number 8? I never actually memorized my plate number LOOOOOOL I think so? It’s either a 6 or 8.

Were you ever a ghost on Halloween? Nope.

Has someone ever held the door open for you? Yeah, security guards tend to do that for customers/guests. Sometimes, nice strangers that I enter a place with will do it for me too.

Are you a fan of penguins? I think fan is pushing it far lol. I like penguins, but I’m not obsessed.

Have you ever stayed up all night on a school night? Just a handful of times, and it was always as part of a groupwork. I’d never willingly go through an all-nighter for myself.

What’s your favorite brand of chips? Doritos or Pringles. We also have a local brand that makes these deeeeeelicious salted egg chips, but I’ve never actually taken note of what the brand is.

Has anyone ever sang to you? Not to me. But a lot of people have sung around me.

Are you a good painter? No. That’s why I opt for paint-by-number kits, because those come with a guide haha. I can’t actually craft images by myself – that skill belongs to my sister who has an insane talent for painting.

Before buying a car, do you usually test drive it? I’ve never bought a car by myself; my dad takes care of the car purchases. I know he test-drove the Vitara, but idk about the other cars we have.

Have you ever written a poem and then read it aloud? Hmm, I don’t write poems. I don’t find the vast majority of them appealing, and only once in a while will there be a poem that is able to speak to me.

Do you like pineapple? Nope.

Have you ever met your favorite author? I don’t have a favorite.

Do you look more like your mom or dad? Most comments point to my mom, but I’ll get the occasional remark that half of my face is my dad’s as well. I’m a good mix of both.

Have you and your best friend ever liked the same person? This hasn’t happened before.

When was the last time someone called you babe or baby? Maybe August? I’m not too sure. It’s been a few months.

Do you have an older brother? No. But I’m super close with my eldest cousin on my mom’s side and we grew up together and all that, and I pretty much consider him my older brother. He’s definitely more a brother than a cousin to me, and it has always felt and been that way.

Are you a fan of art? Yes, especially paintings and dioramas.

Did you get your mom or dad’s eyes? My mom’s, I think? I really don’t know, I’m bad at recognizing this kind of stuff. You’d have to ask people who actually see me on a daily basis.

Have you ever seen the movie My Girl? Is this the one with the really sad scene of a boy’s funeral and the girl’s like, “He can’t see without his glasses”? I haven’t seen the movie, but I’ve heard about that scene a million times.

Do you watch Teen Wolf on MTV? Ugh, MTV’s teen shows are such a cringefest to me. I never followed it, but I’ve had to watch a few eps back in high school when my friends would watch it while we were at someone’s place. Not my cup of tea.

When it was on, did you watch Cory In The House on Disney? I watched a few episodes, especially when it was still new. But we were also in the process of moving then and we didn’t have cable for a few years in our new house, so I had to miss out most of it.

Do you have any blackheads? I don’t.

Do you have any freckles? Nope.

Do you have a movie that you have to watch during the summer every year? No, but I have something similar. I like watching Love Actually at least once every year, during the Christmas season. I like watching Two for The Road once a year as well, regardless of the time of year.

Do you think that life isn’t fair sometimes? I mean yeah. It doesn’t revolve around me, so I know it won’t always be fair.

When was the last time someone bought you flowers? Valentine’s Day last year.

What was the last book you read? Midnight Sun. Haven’t touched it since September, though.

How many books do you plan to read this summer? It’s past summer, and I haven’t been doing a lot of reading in general.

Does your house have a dishwasher? No, not a common appliance here.

Do you know anyone who has a flower tattoo? I probably do. But I haven’t seen people outside of family for so long that I can barely remember who has which tattoos. I’m pretty sure I know someone who has flowers.

Do you like the name Carter? It just reminds me of the underwear brand honestly, so not a fan.

Have you ever had a secret admirer? No. Should there be one, they shouldn’t be having high hopes; I wouldn’t be interested in the least.

How many different languages can you say goodbye in? There’s English, Filipino, Korean, Spanish, German, French, Japanese – 7.

Agree or disagree: You like Adam Sandler movies. Disagree for the most part, but 50 First Dates is cute.

Did the last type of shoes you wore have laces? Yups. I wore sneakers when I went out to get Starbucks last Friday evening.

How much money did you spend yesterday? The charging cable that I ordered arrived yesterday, so I had to shell out ₱140 for that.

What genre is your favorite movie? It’s a romcom/drama. My other favorite is a drama.

Are you texting anybody right now? Nope. I’m all alone today, which is the way I want to be for this weekend.

Who was the last person you were in a car with? My parents.

Do you like the picture on your license/I.D. card? I really do, hahaha. I don’t know why the people at the LTO gave me a pass, but I had been allowed to smile with my teeth. That helped make my license photo turn out super well and I no longer feel embarrassed whenever I have to take it out and present it somewhere.

What’s your favorite thing to snack on while watching a movie? Potato Corner fries. Can’t be any other type of fries.

When was the last time somebody hit on you? July or August when this random guy slid into my PMs. I had never had so much fun blocking somebody so fast.

Was the last person you met a male or female? The last new person I met was male.

Which one of your friends do you feel most comfortable around? Angela or Andi.

Do you own a map of the world? I mean, I guess. I have a collection of the World Almanac for Kids books, and it had always included a world map in its Countries chapter every year.

What’s your favorite Thanksgiving food? We don’t celebrate Thanksgiving.

Is the light on in the room you’re in? No, doesn’t have to be as it’s bright out and I can see the sun from my window.

Who did you last spoon with? Gabie.

Are you currently watching TV? No.

Have you ever had surgery or stitches? Never. Hope I’ll never be needing one.

Do you own any clothing that has animal print? I have a tank top with cheetah print that I sometimes wear at home.

Does your family eat dinner together? Yes, every evening. We don’t eat together when my dad is working abroad, but since he has stayed home for all of 2020 because of Covid, we’ve gotten to eat together as a family all year.

Where do you work? Somewhere in Metro Manila; I’m not giving the city away.

Are you in high school? I got out of there nearly five years ago.

Do you have a TV in your room? I used to, but not anymore.

Are any of your electronics charging right now? My phone and laptop both are.

Are you hungry?: I can def go for a snack, or maybe even a full meal. It’s taking everything in me not to order Popeye’s or Army Navy from Grab rn.

What color is the chair you’re sitting on?: I’m sitting up in bed; my sheets are blue with gold/yellow prints.

What did you buy last time you went to the store?: I got bottled coffee when I went to 7-Eleven a week ago.

Do you like salsa that has fruit in it?: ...Don’t all types of salsa have fruit in them though? It would be brand-new knowledge to me if I was told not all salsas have fruit.

Have you ever opened up your computer to clean the fan on the inside?: No. I’d rather have professionals do that.

Can you count in binary?: No, and I never even understood how it works.

Do you think stained glass windows are pretty?: No. Mostly because it reminds me of cathedrals.

Are you a chocoholic?: Nah. I like chocolate, but I can live without it.

Are you scared of snakes?: I mean if they were venomous or obviously wanted to eat me whole, of course. But I’ve also already held a couple of snakes before.

Have you had your wisdom teeth removed?: No.

Do you like hard or soft pretzels better?: Soft all the way. I find the hard ones too salty.

What was the last magazine or catalog you looked through?: I don’t even remember. Maybe Tatler? My grandma has loads of those at her house.

When was the last time you wore a raincoat?: I don’t think I have ever worn a raincoat.

Have you ever been carded when buying something?: Idk what that is but nothing out of the ordinary has ever happened to me whenever I’ve made a purchase, so I’m gonna go ahead and say no.

Do you eat meat?: Yep.

Corn and mashed potatoes, or beans and rice?: Both pairings aren’t really a part of our cuisine, so neither sound appealing to be honest. As someone who thrives on rice, I hate the idea of eating beans with it; so I would go with corn and mashed potatoes even though I’m having a hard time imagining how it would work.

Can you sleep with the light on?: I probably can, but it would take me a lot longer to fall asleep.

What’s your operating system of choice?: Mac/iOS.

Have you ever broken a bone?: Never.

Do you have a favorite highlighter color?: I don’t have a favorite color to use, but I prefer pastel shades in general over neon.

Do you have a flashlight?: My phone has a built-in flashlight, but we also keep a couple of emergency flashlights at home in case of blackouts.

Do you like watermelon?: I like some watermelon-flavored stuff like candies, but I’m not fond of the fruit.

…Honeydew?: Hahahahahaha. BoJack Horseman, anyone? Anyway, I’ve never had honeydew and probably wouldn’t like it considering my established opinion on fruits.

Can you shoot a gun?: I’ve never tried, so I’ll say no. I’ve always been meaning to go to a shooting range though; I feel like it’ll be such a cool experience.

Do you like salad?: Not for the most part. The only kind I enjoy is spicy tuna salad, which only has lettuce in it alongside tuna sashimi and spicy mayonnaise.

When was the last time you smashed your finger?: I don’t know if I ever have? This doesn’t ring a bell to me.

What color is your computer?: Silver/gray.

Have you ever made ice cream in chemistry class?: No, my chemistry classes in high school and college were never that fun.

Has anyone ever walked in on you while you were on the toilet?: Sure.

What color hair do you have?: Black.

Do you use the microwave often?: I wouldn’t say so; just a couple of times a month.

Are you good at spelling?: Sure, I’d claim that. Thank the movie Akeelah and the Bee; that movie made me super passionate about spelling and dictionaries for a time. I can still feel its effects today because I’m still very much particular about spelling more so than any other kind of writing/language mechanic.

Have you ever petted a donkey?: I’ve never even seen one before :o but I’d love to have the chance to pet one, heh. It would make me so happy.

When was the last time you went to the doctor’s for a physical?: 2016.

Do you like a lot of ice in your drinks?: Sure.

Have you ever painted a room? Never have, but would like to give it a try.

Hide Away

Warnings: Swearing.

Word Count: 2.8 K (honestly, I was expecting it to be longer but eh. It’s not horrible)

Chan was your best friend of five years. He was your rock, as you were his. You treated one another like other was everything good in the world. And to you, he was. Unfortunately, you couldn’t say the same for him and, while you direly hoped it to be so, the last few weeks had been quite disheartening.

You and Chan had always hung out. Be it in his studio where he worked, you listening and giving feedback on the songs, or on his days off where the two of you just chilled in the JYP cafe. The two of you were, to put it simply, inseparable.

However, Chan had begun to avoid you. Whenever you called and asked for him to hang out, he always declined. Always said he was insanely busy (though that hadn’t stopped him before). When you were stressing about school, which was getting to be more and more often considering midterms were coming up and you didn’t want to fuck anything up, he simply sent Chang Bin or Woo Jin over to help you.

While his avoidance allowed you to grow closer to the other boys, you felt like you were losing a grip on the one person who you cared about more than anything in the world. It almost felt like five years of friendship were just… going down the drain. That all the time the two of you invested into one another didn’t matter.

It hurt you inside but, as you always seemed to do, you kept it to yourself. You fooled yourself into thinking you were really having fun with the rest of the boys when Chan was missing. You forced smiles and laughs while you were with them, leaving your mind to wonder what you did wrong. Leaving you to question if Chan just… stopped caring. You felt like you were at fault for what was going on.

“Y/N!” Felix called out from the hallway of the door, a smile adorning his freckled face. “We want to show you something!”

You were confused as to who else was in on his tactics, but you shrugged it off, excusing yourself from the “conversation” that you were having with Chang Bin. That conversation, of course, only consisting of head nodding and the occasional “hmm” of thought.

Making your way over to where Felix stood at the mouth of the hallway, he led you to a room that you had become extremely familiar with. It was Chan’s and Chang Bin’s. On the bed, you spotted a laptop that was open with a video of Chan sitting in one of the studios in the JYP building. There was no title to the video from what you could tell and Chan seemed to be either distressed or venting something to his laptop that was extremely serious.

“Guys, we shouldn’t pry into Chan’s stuff,” you scolded, walking over to close it before Jeong In, who had been in the room previously alongside Seung Min and Ji Sung, moved to hit play on the video.

There was a beat of silence before Chan began to speak, his introduction and first word being none other than your name.

“Y/N… I don’t think I’ll ever actually get around to showing you this video or sending it or whatever but… I just wanted say that you have been the greatest supporter I had after coming to Korea. I wasn’t necessarily lonely my first two years here but… I was, in a way? There were people I interacted with and enjoyed conversation with but I was never really,” he paused for a moment, turning his head to look at the door before he faced the laptop camera again, continuing.

“I was never really there to them. When you showed up, just before I met Ji Sung and a year before Chang Bin even showed up, you were the first one to make me feel like I was there and active. And to think you weren’t even part of the company,” he laughed a bit, “you were just there hoping to see the members of 2PM or Wonder Girls.

“I remember you were having your own struggles speaking Korean to the barista at the Dunkin Donuts across the street.” a reminiscent smile settled on his face, his eyes no longer focused on the camera. He stopped for a moment, letting the memory settle before he spoke up again.

“We sat together and spoke for a while, getting to know one another. You didn’t act like I was some sort of god because I was training to be an idol like some other people I had met did. You showed genuine interest in what I did. From then on, it was almost like we had immediately connected and I was so much happier than I had been before. I was more active with talking to the other boys I trained with and I looked forward to every meeting we had.

“I remember when Felix got eliminated, you had locked Chang Bin out of the dorm just to comfort me. Told me that you’d fight Jin Young the first chance you got if he didn’t bring back Min Ho and Felix. You are part of this group just as much as the boys, even if you don’t promote with us. You are at every domestic concert that you can manage despite school and you never fail to congratulate us every time we get back.

“Every time I catch myself thinking about you, it’s always about how you’re here for us, no matter what the circumstances. You’re always sending us words of encouragement and love. You never get annoyed at the lack of time we have to talk while promoting and you’re always so patient and caring with us. Hell, you’ve practically moved in by this point to make sure we were taking care of ourselves.

“But, what I really wanted to say is-”

“Why the hell are you guys on my laptop?” Chan questioned, his cheeks tinted a brick red as he marched over, snapping the device shut before tucking it under his arm.

His eyes caught your own for a moment and, before you could say anything, he was off. From the front of the dorm, you heard the door bang shut and Chan was off again. Now, you were left with a feeling of wanting to watch the rest of the video or, at the very least, to coax the words from Chan himself. Whether it was him saying he no longer felt the care he did before and he no longer wanted to be friends or something else entirely, you were dying to know.

With silence enveloping the room quickly, the air had become thick with tension before Felix spoke up, a cheery smile on his face and a sound of triumph in his honey voice.

“Well, at least we got to know how Chan feels about Y/N. And I think we all know what his final sentence was going to be,” the Australian male joked, winking at you slyly.

You rolled your eyes, shaking your head as you turned to head out of the room, a simple farewell leaving your lips as you passed by Chang Bin, Woo Jin, and Min Ho on the couch. They had put up no argument or question to your departure and, soon enough, you were out the door and making your way towards your car, heading home to think.

The following week was one of uneventfulness. Unfortunately, you were studying to hell and back for midterms so you didn’t have much time to see the boys in the flesh unless you brought them some quick food or absolutely needed to check in, but the last time you had stopped by was Wednesday, three days prior.

As you finally closed your notebook of notes for Psychology, you got several frantic messages from Chang Bin, Felix, Ji Sung, and Woo Jin and a follow up call made by Min Ho. Answering the call before you read the messages, you were extremely confused when Min Ho began to speak.

“Have you seen Chan? He’s not been back to the dorms since Tuesday and we just got back from scouting the studios and he’s not there either. We didn’t know if he went to your house or not.” Min Ho’s words were frantic and, in turn, got your heart beating quickly as you registered their words.

“I haven’t seen him but I’ll go looking for him. There’s a few other places that he might be that I know of. If he isn’t in those places then I’ll call you guys and, if need be, we can call the police to help us.”

You heard a flurry of thank you’s from the other end before hanging up and rushing to throw on a coat and shoes, grabbing your keys off of the hook by the door and then quickly taking off.

The first place that you had often found Chan when he needed to isolate himself was at a park that was near the previous JYP building. He had a little area he always went to that was undisturbed by others. How he found it, you had no idea, but it always led to you finding him when you couldn’t otherwise.

However, he wasn’t there. This caused a bit of worry, but you knew better than to overreact. After all, there were still a couple of other places for you to look before you had to report back to the rest of the boys or, what would be more likely, continue to search the rest of the surrounding areas for the boy.

The second place that Chan frequented was a music store that was probably about two or three miles away from the new JYP building. Stepping in, you were greeted by Jun Young, a man who had come to know you and Chan quite well over the years. When you asked if the male had stopped in, he frowned and shook his head.

“However,” he stated, stopping you before you could turn, “give this to him when you find him. He stopped in a couple weeks ago and I guess he forgot to pick up the guitar he needed to fix.”

With that, almost like you were in a video game receiving a key item, Jun Young had passed you a pack of guitar picks alongside the case containing the guitar. Thanking the older man, you made your way back out and set the case and picks in your backseat before taking off, finally heading to the last place you could be expected to find him before you double checked the studios.

Closer to the dorms was a place that you often saw Chan frequent but had never actually been there with him. It was a bookstore, plainly enough. Chan seemed to adore the place, always coming out with one book or another on music theory or science fiction. Stepping into the place, you were hit with the smell of books and, while it would be appreciated any other time, the anxiety that had set in your stomach had tried to reject the scent.

Wandering around the store, you searched the aisles thoroughly to ensure that Chan wasn’t, in fact, sitting on the floor and reading a book he had found interest in. When you came up empty, you had to take a deep breath before heading out and back to your car.

“Back to the studio we go,” you mumbled, making the quick trip back to the building before you called for someone to come and meet you.

By the time Woo Jin arrived, alone surprisingly enough, your stomach was twisting in violent knots. You were worried out of your mind at this point and you didn’t know what you would do if you and Woo Jin would come up finding something undesirable.

Staying beside the older male, you followed him to the elevator to take the two of you up to the studios, ready to scout out and see if the missing male was actually hiding away in his safe space.

When you came to the first set of doors, you and Woo Jin split, going through the rooms and hoping to see some sign of life. As you came to the last set, you pushed open the door to see the male stuffed away on a corner of the couch that was in the studio. His head was resting uncomfortably on his shoulder and he was covered with a jacket. On the desk was his open laptop and many boxes of food from the cafe.

Sighing in relief, you turned to see Woo Jin walking towards you, a questioning look on his face. Holding your index finger to your lips, you stepped into the room, saving the track that was open before closing the lid of the laptop and tucking it under your arm. You turned to see Woo Jin slowly talking Chan out of sleep, the 21 year old slowly opening his eyes and showing visible confusion as to why Woo Jin was there.

Walking over, you crouched down as well, setting a hand on his knee as you spoke up, your relief from finding him visible in your eyes.

“Why don’t we get you back to the dorms, Chan? You can get some decent sleep there.”

He only let out a groggy noise of acknowledgement before he sat up, rubbing his eyes with his knuckles. It wasn’t until you had helped him up that he decided to actually move and get around to moving, walking beside you and heading out to the car. Woo Jin had left you to take him back to the dorm, almost foreshadowing the situation that would happen in the car.

As you waited for Chan to situate himself in his seat before passing him his laptop, you stared out the window, letting the silence drape over the two of you. For you, it felt smothering. Like it was grasping your throat and pressing down, waiting for someone to speak. To kill the silence before it killed you, you switched on the radio, letting out a sigh of relief as the choked feeling finally let up.

Just as you went to pull out of the parking lot, Chan finally spoke up, his voice still hoarse and tired.

“How far into the video did you get last week?”

“Video…? Oh! I think we were almost at the end before you came in,” you admitted, the apples of your cheeks taking on a red hue.

You still felt bad for letting the other boys play the video but you had been so interested in what he was saying, along with your own memories from when he was still a trainee, that you had just let it play.

“Do you want to know what I was going to say?” he questioned, his eyes refusing to meet yours as he kept his gaze on his lap.

“I would like that,” you admitted with a shrug. “But you don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to, Chan. You know I wouldn’t ever force you to tell me.”

“I know. You’re horrible at forcing people to do things, even if it’s for the better,” he chuckled a bit. “But, to be honest, I ended that video by telling you I liked you. I have since a couple years ago and… I just haven’t found the courage to tell you before now. That’s why I’ve been pushing away,” he responded, his eyes still on his lap.

“I like you, too, Chan,” you admitted, the red hue becoming darker and spreading down your neck, the heat almost making your eyes water.

“Really?” he questioned, clearly surprised by the reveal.

“I thought I made it obvious enough, but yes, I like you. If it wasn’t for the three year ban I’d probably ask to go on a date the next time you’re free,” you admitted.

“God I hate this three year ban thing now,” he groaned, earning a chuckle from you.

“Well, if we know each other’s feelings for one another, does it really matter? I’m sure we can both withstand 3 years. After all, you’re already almost one year into it.”

“You’re right about that… Do you promise to wait for me, then?”

“I promise, Chan. I don’t think anyone else can make me feel the way you make me feel. I know we just went through a rough patch but… I’m hoping the rest can be relatively smooth sailing from here. No more hiding away from one another, no shutting each other out, no overworking.”

“I can’t agree to that last-”

“Chris.”

“Sorry. No overworking. Got it.”

And so it was settled. The two of you would wait. And so you did. It was a dream at first. Almost a happy ending. You were in love with him and, according to what he told you, he was in love with you as well. Hopefully it would stay that way for a long while.

No stress when answering! Answer whenever you have the time. :) Oohh I don't watch many jdramas (I really should though) so I'll definitely look up Kikazaru Koi ni wa Riyuu ga Atte. The synopsis sounds cute~! I saw Be Melodramatic via gifs here on tumblr and I think I'll save it for when I want a good cry. I LOVED Into the Ring! Nana and Park Sung Hoon were ridiculously adorable and healthy and adorable together. Their chemistry was sooo gooood!

hmm... from the top of my head the dramas that I would like to rec. are...

The Crowned Clown: It's the drama ver. of the film Masquerade. The drama has dark and really heavy themes especially in the first two episodes but it's sooo good. Yeo Jin Goo and Lee Se Young and the rest of the cast are amazing in this drama. Also, the PD for Vincenzo also directed this drama too! It's one of my top fav historicals.

Extraordinary You: Like you for Run On, the drama aired when I was having a hard time and helped me come out of a funk. I related to the character Dan Oh so much. Her character, fighting to make her own decisions when her whole world was against her really hit me.

20th Century Boy and Girl: I feel like this is such an underrated romcom gem. It has Han Ye Seul and Kim Ji Suk as leads. They're soooo cute in this drama! I really recommend it if you're looking for a cute binge watch. If you want to watch a good thriller/horror I would recommend watching Midnight Mass on Netflix. I just finished the series and wow it was really good!

Are there any genres you tend to avoid?

I don't watch many jdramas either but I've LOVED the few ones I've seen so I'd like to watch more jdramas! And yayyy an Into the Ring fan!! I'm glad that you loved it too!

It's very funny that you ask what genres I tend to avoid..... because I always avoid thrillers and horror stuff 😭 I prefer character-based stories but thrillers are plot-based so I avoid them because I know I will probably be bored watching it. As for horror, I want to enjoy it but I'm such a scaredy-cat and get very anxious easily! So I avoid it because I know it will makes me feel bad. When it comes to kdramas, I don't watch sageuks. I actually love European period dramas but I know very little about Korean history so I'm afraid of not understanding sageuks enough to enjoy them... But I've started watching Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung last year and I've loved it!! I know this one is not very accurate but it's so light and easy that it can be a nice gateway to sageuks!

Your recs are so interesting!!!

I've heard very little of The Crowned Clown but it sounds so great! I'm adding it to my watchlist! I don't think I'll watch it anytime soon because of the reasons I've mentioned before but it's so intriguing so I don't want to forget about this one!

I've been intrigued by Extraordinary You since it came out!!! The plot seemed so cool but I wasn't sure if I'd like it because it's set in a school... I've made my mind now and I've added it to my watchlist as well! I hope I'll get to watch it soon!

I've actually seen 20th Century Boy and Girl!!! But I haven't finished it yet... My toxic trait is that I never finish watching the shows I like... I think I only have like 6 episodes left?? Backstory of how you got into Kpop I’m gonna be lazy and copy paste from another tag game, I got into KPop via a Korean friend at school in 2007. It actually started with anime openings and then she showed me a BLEACH opening that was sung by Younha. Then I heard Password 486 and I was hooked. BIGBANG was right on the heels of Younha. I watched the MV for Lies when a friend said, “I have to show you this KPop group, they’re amazing!” she wasn’t wrong.

the following account of sunggyu’s recent fanmeet in taipei may get rather detailed at some point, as it is pretty much a word-for-word transcript based off my own fancams and audio recordings of both the afternoon and evening shows. just a heads-up, it is a little lengthy as more than it being something i want to share with everyone else, it is something i want to keep for myself, with as many details i can remember as possible. i will be putting in bold some of the more interesting portions in case you want to just quickly scan through it for some of the highlights. so, here goes:

2PM SHOW

when i finally got into the venue around 1.40pm, sunggyu's solo songs were blasted from the speakers one after another with a simple 'kim sung kyu mini live & fanmeeting 2017' as the background on the display screen. after 60 seconds finished playing, a little vcr (a compilation of his photos from their latest ot6 photoshoot) started playing and when it ended, the lights in the venue dimmed. everyone started buzzing as sunggyu had not come out immediately as we had thought he would and that was when he took us off-guard, walking out from the left side of the stage suavely in a blazer that made him look like a prince.

immediately when he reached the mic stand, the music for 'kontrol' started to play and the fanmeet officially began. after 'kontrol', sunggyu went on to perform 'i need u' and 'shine' immediately after. listening to 'i need u' and 'shine' live was really sgdkskzdjkd because i've never heard them both live before 'shine' made me especially emotional because it is my favourite of all sunggyu's solo songs.. at the bridge of 'shine', the part that goes '너의 목소리, 너의 그 눈빛...' he sang '그 어떤 것도 잊질 못해' in falsetto for the album recorded version of 'shine' but over here, he sang the first one in falsetto and the second one in his real projected voice (? idk the term for it i'm not a music person,, just, like, his actual voice) which was super duper amazing. after finishing these three songs, he said thank you and headed backstage for a bit to rest while the mc for the event came out. if i'm not wrong, she was the same mc who hosted the infinite only fanmeet in taipei back in february this year she's really bubbly and nice, when she came out, she warmed us up by asking some basic questions. i also want to make a quicknote that she kept calling sunggyu (小)圭圭, which translates to (little) gyugyu, which was super cute especially when she referred to sunggyu using that a lot to which sunggyu even responded to at some point sjkgdfdhdgjgh

mc: were those three songs good?

fans: yes!!!

mc: is gyugyu handsome today?

f: yES!!!!!!!!!

mc: this year is the ___ year of his solo debut?

f: fifth!!!

mc: are you excited for today's show ?

f: yEs!!!!!!

mc: how many of you are coming to both the afternoon and evening shows?

me: ME 😂

mc: gyugyu has been practising really hard for this. earlier while i was backstage, i kept hearing him going ahhh↗ahhhhh↘ahhhhh, he was doing his vocal warm-ups really seriously.

mc: have any of you watched his interview from the yesterday?

fans: yes!!!

mc: wow let me complain to you a little, did any of you see how many buttons he left unbuttoned? the audacity! anyone saw anything from the deep lowcut? yeah, a little bit of a shadow right?

after a bit more small talk here and there, sunggyu finally returned to stage. a lady translator followed shortly too. his first greetings were in korean, so the mc asked him if he had been practising his chinese, to which he said "oh, chinese? my greetings earlier? 大家好我是金聖圭 (hi everyone, i'm kim sunggyu)。" five seconds after saying this he became shy and burst out laughing, scrunching up his face a little.

mc: your members' reactions when you told them about this fanmeet, how was it like? it was a little bit cold, wasn't it? (a/n: she probably got this from the interview gyu gave the day before to taiwan press)

sunggyu: *sputtering* oh, no, um. *breaking out into high pitched embarrassed laughter* i guess it's because they believe in me? they did say something like "hyung, you'll do well" so..

mc: sunggyu mentioned he wanted to come to taiwan together with his members and film a variety together here

sunggyu: ah yes, if given the chance i would really love to come together with them and eat good food together

mc: yeah from the moment he arrives yesterday, he barely had any rest and hasn't gotten a chance to explore the streets of taipei

sunggyu: oh yes, well, my schedule just happened to be packed like this.. after the interview i went out to eat with the staff..

after a while, they sat down and proceeded to the first segment where sunggyu has to pick an alphabet from 't a i p e i'. the alphabet he picks will give a word/topic he'll tell us more about. every time he had to pick an alphabet, he'd ponder his choice out loud and if fans were yelling anything other than what he picked, this would happen:

sunggyu: hmm

fans: e! e!

sunggyu: i'll go with t! :)

fans: p! p!!!

sunggyu: p? p??? alright, i'll pick e ^^

you can really feel the ^^ seeping out from his words and actions.. know that when i include a ^^ at the end of quoted speech from sunggyu here, it means that i felt it from his word 😂

sunggyu: i pick a!

mc: ooh, achieve! everyone, follow me. repeat after me, a!

sunggyu: a!

mc: achieve!

sunggyu: achieve!

(a/n: this was so cute all the fans went wild because he was just repeating after the mc so cutely)

a - achieve

q: your solo activities have been very successful thus far. are there any more goals you'd like to achieve before the end of 2017, or any dreams you'd like to fulfill?

sunggyu: basically, i feel that i've more or less accomplished most of the things i wanted to do this year. for example, i wanted to be involved in a production and release an album, so i've been working on my solo album. i've also wanted to be part of a musical, hence i'm currently participating in a musical and i hope it will be successful.

mc: so i guess you can say sunggyu is a careful planner who works effectively, right? he set a few goals for himself and he has achieved all of them within this year.

(a/n: the above exchange was pretty long as the translator translated for quite a while due to his long message so the whole time sunggyu was sitting there nodding nodding nodding his bobblehead and it was so cute fans started yelling)

sunggyu: yes, yes, that's right, that's absolutely correct.

i - impact

q: were there any solo or group activities from the past year that left a deep impression on you?

sunggyu: ahhhhhhh. for my first solo fanmeeting in tokyo, i was so nervous on the first day that i ended up entering the stage even before the music started playing. if there was a live band on stage with me then they could coordinate with me and start as we had the mr audio playing over the speakers instead of a live band, i couldn't do that. so i had a lot of thoughts in my head, should i stop the music and start over again, or should i go ahead regardless, although in the end, i went ahead anyway. once i returned to our hotel after it ended, i couldn't stop thinking about it and felt very sad.

mc: it just weighs down on you, doesn't it?

sunggyu: yes.. but well, it's alright, i guess? you guys weren't there to witness that anyway so i think it is okay? ^^ (a fan in the crowd signalled that she had been there too) o-oh, you were there too??

mc: oh, you were there? the tokyo show? OH, you're japanese? *to sunggyu* fan from japan!

sunggyu: a-ah.. ah! konichiwa!

mc: gambatte kudasai

sunggyu: sunggyu-desu ^^

t - talent

q: the sunggyu we know is extremely talented. be it singing, variety or acting in musicals, you've proven yourself to he multi-talented. if you could gain another talent, what kind would you want to have?

fans: aegyo! aegyo!!!

sunggyu: i'm sorry, what? aegyo? aEGyo? aegyo is a talent that i don't really want to have. i am DEFINITELY not going to do it.

fans: ehhhh

sunggyu: for me.. if i had to pick..... i'd say sportiness?

fans: ehhhhHHHhhhHHH

sunggyu: *indignant* what? why???

mc: are you guys unsatisfied with this answer? you want him to have a talent in aegyo?

fans: yesssssssssss

*sunggyu throughout the above exchange between mc & fans: shaking his head with his eyes shut tightly and a little small playing on his lips*

sunggyu: aegyo, i don't have it-

fans: aegyo! aegyo! show! show! show! show!

sunggyu: *resigned to his fate*

sunggyu: *did a cute v pose with pouty lips for literally 0.1s and put his hand down immediately after*

sunggyu: ah indeed, i do have some aegyo..

sunggyu: *embarrassed, starts laughing and fanning his face before reaching forward to drink some water*

mc: that was okay, right? everyone let's let him off the hook for now. later we'll have him do the ultimate aegyo challenge, yeah?

sunggyu: *almost choking on his water* ah, i-is that so?

(a/n: the way he drinks water is SO CUTE. he uses a straw and he always takes a big big sip till his cheeks are full and puffy before swallowing the water slowly then repeat ;~; )

i - infinite

q: you have been busy with individual schedules up to now. roughly when will we be able to expect a group comeback where you will spend time together as a group with your fans?

sunggyu: firstly, infinite is preparing for a fanmeet in korea at the end of this year. right now, we aim to release an album around that time. please anticipate it a lot.

mc: as infinite's leader, could you give us a tiny little hint on the album's direction? will there be impressive choreography like before?

sunggyu: truthfully, we haven't started practising our choreography.. the dance has already been choreographed though.

fans: show us! show us!

sunggyu: ah no, well, thing is the members haven't had much time together till now so we have not started practising it yet. this album, because it's one that we've been preparing for such a long time, we recorded so many songs. we spent a long time pondering about the title track as everyone has many different opinions. we had a meeting just the other day and finally decided on the title track. we really hope that you will like it.

mc: we will be wrapping up this segment now. can we invite our little gyugyu to introduce the next two songs?

sunggyu: the next song, i actually released it even prior to my solo debut. yes, yes, that song. 'because' from over the top. the next song after this is a song called 'daydream'. it's a song written and producdd by a senior i really like and respect a lot.. ^^

(a/n: he sounded so happy talking about nell.. the more he talked about 'daydream', the more you could the smile in his words, it was so cute!!)

listening to 'because' live was truly AN EXPERIENCE because ever since the moment i got into infinite and watched my first ever 'because' fancam, i've always thought that i would probably never get to hear it live considering how it's a solo song and such an old one at that but!!! i love it so much it used to be the one song i would loop for hours and days on end without rest.. 'daydream' was incredible too, finally witnessing rap!gyu with my own two eyes and ears probably added to my lifespan by ten years. it's not that he made a mistake or anything since he put his all into the rap but i simply just couldn't get over how cute his rap voice sounded :( speaking of this, i think they've actually had the whole song re-recorded with sunggyu's rap? i couldn't really tell if it was sunggyu instead of jongwan's voice at the part towards the end too because the speakers were right in front of me messing up my listening judgement but i'm still pretty certain tablo's part has been re-recorded with sunggyu.

[ game 1 ]

once sunggyu finished the two songs and had ample rest backstage, he returned to stage to pick ticket numbers for the games segment. let me tell you this, he was really annoying while picking the ticket numbers he would put his hand into the box (it was transparent), turn his hand here and there, grab a few tickets only to toss them aside, sweep the tickets left and right and then pick a few up at once before holding onto just one while letting the rest of them fall back into the box. how dare he play with my hopes and dreams like this.. after a few agonising minutes, of him very adorably announcing the selected ticket numbers in chinese (by repeating after the mc), the lucky fans went on stage.

this first game was a game to test for mind-link/telepathy between gyu and fans. a word would be given on stage and sunggyu, along with the three lucky fans, will have to make the same action that best describes the word simultaneously at the count of three, with the rest of the audiences as judge. they first did a trial run and after it, the mc asked the fans on stage some questions.

mc: are you nervous?

fan: yes

mc: are you confident you'll win?

fan: yes

mc: is sunggyu handsome?

fan: super handsome

sunggyu: ah, thank you ^^

the first word was their title track from infinite only, 'the eye'. they mostly did the same action, except for one fan who made a slight movement wrong. sunggyu being sunggyu, he told her "our dance isn't like that ^^ it's like this ^^” before proceeding to do a demonstration. poor fan. some of the next few words included 'bear', where he put both his palms up above his head but switched them to his fists by the side of his head instead upon seeing the other three fans' actions. even the mc couldn't resist saying "sunggyu, your 'bear' is so cute", to which sunggyu sputtered before replying shyly "ah.. t-thank you". the next word was 'hulk', where he did the cutest imitation with the cutest expression. i'm pretty sure there had been fansite previews for these. he ended up winning this game because us fans, who are biased and weak for him, were appointed the judges of the game. it's a bad combination if you asked me since we basically let him pass every round as long as our judgement was required.

oh and before each of the fans left the stage, sunggyu *initiated* hugs with them on top of the basic handshakes hdgsksjd

continuing on, the mc said they will be moving on to the next segment.

mc: okay, moving on. let's invite sunggyu to the next game segment!

sunggyu: *surprised laughter* what, there's more??

mc: you said you were the sporty kind earlier..

sunggyu: ah yes, yes, bring it on. it's great! great!

[ game 2 ]

staff then brought the box containing the tickets out again and after a few more painful moments, sunggyu finally selected another three fans for the second game. this game was charades, where sunggyu was to first pick a random topic and words of the topic will be the questions for the day. of course, as main character of the day, sunggyu has to act out the word for the lucky fans to guess. every correct guess gains them one point and to win the game, they need five of such wins within 1 minute. the topic sunggyu picked was 'sports'. some of the words that came out included bowling (where he struck a really cool pose), dodgeball (you should've seen his face he had the most incredulous expression 😂), yoga, brisk-walking, ice-skating and water-skiing.

sunggyu won this round too since the lucky fans were surprisingly good at guessing so after the same handshake and hug routine with the lucky fans, the mc proceeded with some simple questions.

mc: what were some of the more interesting questions?

fans: brisk-walking! oh, yoga too!

sunggyu: i've actually been learning yoga these days. like, i am really taking lessons outside and all.

fans: *cheers*

mc: how about we have you do a little demo of what you've learned?

sunggyu: *flustered* ah, n-no. i'm not wearing the suitable outfit for it now..

mc: no matter, we'll get sunggyu to remove these clothes and change later, okay?

mc: it's starting to feel a bit warm, isn't it?

sunggyu: yes, i didn't know the games would be this strenuous. it's great!! wheeew

mc: okay, so we thought your had good rapport with your fans earlier

sunggyu: i think i was just too good with my explanations.. oh, and of course my fans had quick thinking too.

sunggyu: actually i've never once tried bowling ever since i was born

mc: whaaaat? why is that? how can you live your life like this?

sunggyu: *sputters, embarrassed* ah, i just, i spend too much time on music that's all..

mc: since you did well and won both of the games, we have prepared a special prize for you!

sunggyu: *excited* oh, for me? give it to me, quick

mc: aaaand the prize will be.. sunggyu doing aegyo for us!

fans: *wildly cheering*

sunggyu: *bewildered laughter* i'm sorry, whAt? unbelievable!

mc: let's finish the prize quicker and get to singing songs again!

sunggyu: AEGYO???? what should i do?........... just to check again, this is me receiving my prize, right.......?

fans: hiyoong hiyoong! hiyoong!!! hiyoong!!!!

sunggyu: what? oh, that?

mc: okay, 3 2 1, go!

sunggyu: HIYOONG HIYOONG *throws his head back and bursts into laughter immediately after, slapping his thighs and fanning his face in embarrassment before proceeding to drink water*

mc: was that cute? was that ok?

sunggyu: i thought i did pretty good..

fans: yes!!!! do it again!! do it again!!!!

sunggyu: it seems like all of you recorded videos though? just hit that replay button on your fancam.. HIYOONG HIYOONG *more embarrassed laughter*

mc: alright, sunggyu did pretty well, right? he put up with all of your aegyo requests. let's let him off now and continue with songs, okay?

sunggyu: ah, yes, singing. of course i should sing.

just in the bit of time before the music to only tears started to play, fans were yelling all sorts of stuff, some acknowledged by sunggyu, others probably unheard.

fans: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH YOU'RE SOOOOKJSKHSHDSHHDHSJS

(a/n: this was so damn hilarious it was the kind of blood-curdling screams where you could hear the vibrations in their voice.. if you get what i mean??? it's difficult to describe )

his falsettos in ‘only tears’!! the most beautiful thing my ears have ever had the honor of being blessed with??? and ‘alive’, god. tl;dr ’alive' was so beautiful i wanted to cry. pretty sure the faint black smudges found by my eyes once the 2pm show ended came from my mascara while dabbing at my eyes countless times after being thoroughly attacked throughout the entire fanmeet.

mc: we are actually a little pressed for time today. so now, coming to the end of the fanmeet, do you have anything to say to the fans present, sunggyu?

sunggyu: ah, firstly, i’m really thankful towards all of you for coming. it’s actually really nerve-wrecking to be standing here on this stage all by myself, but from another point of view, i’m actually very happy to be standing here. before, i was only able to sing infinite songs for you guys but i have an opprtunity to perform my solo songs for you through this concert so it makes me feel pretty good.

mc: 2017 is approaching its end soon, could you share some of your future plans with us for 2018?

sunggyu: uhhhhhh….

mc: ehhhhhhhhh ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

sunggyu: hmm… firstly, in 2018, of course we’ll work hard with the release of a new album. i’m practising hard for our concerts as well. infinite concerts, my solo concerts as well, both are in the midst of preparations. it seems like we’ll be able to meet each other a lot at such concerts next year? i hope you will look forward to it a lot. i’ll be in a musical from end of this year until january next year too so i wish for your support in this as well. i feel like i didn’t do as much as i wished to this year, in part due to health considerations. so next year, irregardless of my stamina, i hope i can participate in more acitivities and boost my career even further be it in variety or music. i hope to have your support in these future activities, thank you.

mc: i hope that in 2018, kim sunggyu will continue to shine brightly! now let’s save this beautiful moment, shall we? how about a group photo?

mc: and now, we will invite our adorable gyugyu to perform our last song of the day.

sunggyu: the final song is ‘the answer’, one of the two title songs from my second solo album.

at the end of the song, the screen turned black and what seems to be a hand-written message by sunggyu flashed on the screen. it was personally signed off by sunggyu, stroke by stroke in chinese characters .·´¯`(>▂<)´¯`·. the message read:

“和你們共度的時光，我會一直珍藏”

which can be translated to:

“the times i spent with you, i will always treasure them.”

[ hitouch ]

for the 2pm show, my friend and i joined the hitouch queue almost immediately after the queue was formed as we were both really hungry. i barely ate breakfast that day and although my friend did eat something, it was already nearly 4pm while the last time we actually ate was before 8.30am. the hitouch queue moved pretty fast, as the organisers were really rushing people. it’s to be expected i guess, since he has to hitouch the entire crowd of 2,000 fans :(

so fast forward to finally getting to hitouch him, it was simply amazing ｡ﾟ( ﾟஇ‸இﾟ)ﾟ｡ his hands were really, really, really, really, really soft. i have literally never touched hands these soft. i can’t emphasize enough how soft they were, and how i mean it in every sense of the word, without any exaggeration, because they were really!! that!! soft!!!! he might’ve applied some handcream while he was backstage or something, i don’t know, but it was just really, really soft and i bet anyone else who hitouched sunggyu that day can vouch for this. the closest thing this soft i’ve ever touched would be a baby’s skin, baby’s cheeks in particular. please believe me when i say it really was that soft because it really was thaaaat soft. his hands really aren’t just for show. they don’t just look beautiful, they ARE beautiful. this aside, it was also a little damp? maybe he has sweaty palms.. or it was from hitouching a few hundred fans before me 😂 whatever it is, that moment seriously felt like one of the peaks of my inspirit career? the past six years that i’ve been here for this man, this is the first time i’m getting this close to him, being able to touch his hand. it was an emotional moment!! i was barely holding myself together after it but the first thing i recall saying was “was that for real? his hands are so??? soft????” to my friend. 😂

sunggyu: actually i anticipate everything. but one thing i anticipated the most was performing my solo songs for fans in taiwan since i have never been able to do so before ever since the release of my solo albums. it’s been a while since some of these songs were released but being able to perform them for fans in taipei despite the fact that some time has passed is something i looked forward to.

mc: speaking of your solo album, it seems like your new solo album is under preparations, is that right? (a/n: the mc’s exact words when suggesting the possiblity of his solo album being under preparation were “好像似乎貌似很像” and i can’t explain this but it was so funny 😂 chinese speakers will probably understand lmao)

sunggyu: yes, yes, that’s right. actually, i have already wrapped up the recording for my solo album a while ago. there’s quite a number of songs as compared to before as i wanted to make it a more meaningful one.

q: what are some of the factors that continue to motivate you in the pursuit of your passion?

sunggyu: well, if are speaking about passion, i must say it’s inspirits.. really. of course, there is a sense of self-satisfaction being able to do what i like. it's because of inspirits that there are people listening to my songs, supporting me. if i were to release an album now without the knowledge that there is a group of people out there who will definitely be supporting me, i guess i wouldn't feel too good in some way? but now, because i know that there are people anticipating me, people who often support me in my performances, people who will listen to my album well, i feel that owing to them, i can continue moving forward with this passion and put in lots and lots of effort into everything i do. (a/n: because it was a long translation, he kept nodding at everything the mc said. he looked like those bobblehead toys that run on solar power it was seriously so cute fans kept cooing everywhere.)

mc: alright, i hope that sunggyu will continue to keep this passion alive and advance forward with inspirits!!

q: the other infinite members have been participating in their respective individual activities as well. if you were to start having group activities again, what are some of your expectations for it?

sunggyu: firstly, dancing? i would say dance is one of those things. since it’s been a while since infinite has done anything as a group, i think it would feel nice being able to promote and perform together as a group with a new album and new songs. actually, if we were to start having activities together as a group, i would also look forward to sungjong’s hair color. in fact, what sungjong’s hair color will be would be the thing i look forward to the most. he’s had tried many different colors before. this time…

q: you've been an idol for seven years and a solo artist for five, successfully maintaining your popularity both domestically and abroad. are there any secrets to your success?

mc: any secrets to being a superstar?

sunggyu: hm, to be a superstar.. *laughs* well, i suppose you have to have a very good-looking appearance *laughs* hmm…

this was the telepathy game like before. basketball happened to be the last word here and he was super extra with his actions, he kept pretending to dribble an imaginary ball left and right and slam dunking over and over again even though the time is already up. i think his head inflates with the fans' screams.

when picking the numbers for lucky fans to go on stage and play games, he called for 八四二/842 (cn romanization: bā-sì-ér) when he meant to say 八十二/82 (cn romanization: bā -shí- èr) due to a slightly wrong pronunciation.. the number of heartbreaks or should i say heart attacks? he caused that day…. the topic he picked this time round was ‘animals’ so some of the questions were cats, hamsters and rats. at one point, he was really desperate because the fans have not managed to guess much correct answers so when trying to describe ‘hamster’, he bucked out his teeth like that of a rabbit’s and put his hands in front like they were paws before pointing at himself and IT WAS SO CUTE. right after ‘hamsters’, the word that came out was ‘rats’ and he had a total mental breakdown right there because while ‘hamsters’ was already a difficult stage to pass, they are now asking for ‘rats’, which have little to no difference in the ways you can imitate it to describe it. when this game finally ended, he did his handshake + hug with the lucky fans too and he burst out laughing after the last lucky fan whispered something to him. turns out, she told him that there were lots of nightclubs around that area 😂

after the second game ended where sunggyu lost terribly,

mc: you’ll have your punishment now. you have to do aegyo, you know that right?

sunggyu: *nods with a confident smile directed at her*

sunggyu seemed to be enjoying the fanmade video, there are a number of fancams of his reactions to it on youtube. i personally felt that the video was touching and almost teared up too :( of course, it was not just the video, it was the whole atmosphere in the concert hall. the video included performances of sunggyu’s three solo title tracks and when they started playing, the crowd started singing along and it was a really beautiful moment. as a fan who was part of the crowd, i got goosebumps myself and it really makes me wonder how sunggyu felt watching it. once the video ended, i thought sunggyu sounded a little different. i personally thought he might’ve choked up a little before recovering quickly although i wasn’t too sure but a friend of mine said she suspected the same as well so who knows? i wonder what other fans thought.. anyway, just as he started speaking, staff brought in a cake specially prepared by taiwan fans and sunggyu sputtered a bit before laughing shyly.

sunggyu: ah, i don’t know how to say this well. it’s really embarrassing. *shy laughter* actually, i myself often forget the fact that this day is my solo debut anniversary as well. it just so happens that today, i can celebrate it with you and i am really thankful for this opportunity. more importantly, being able to make a solo debut, meet my fans, have an event like this, all of this, it is all thanks to infinite. i'm really really thankful for infinite. it was because i made my debut as a part of infinite that i can stand on stage like this today as a solo performer. infinite gave me the opportunity to express myself in many ways and show different sides of myself like the one i'm showing as a solo artist here today. it’s been five years now, so in the future, maybe ten years or if possible, twenty years, i hope there will be more chances to spend time like this with you in the future. we’ll be meeting at hitouch later again, you know that, right? i’ll perform the last song for you now, then.

(a/n: this made me reaaaaaaaaaaaally emotional i think i actually teared up. the way sunggyu said this, voice dripping with 100% pure sincerity without the slightest trace of playfulness at all, it was an absolutely beautiful moment. i’m sure the entire crowd thought the same, judging by the collective ‘awww’ that sounded the moment sunggyu said that. if i had to pick the most unforgettable moment in my entire day there, this has to be it. this tops everything else, it tops seeing his aegyo attempts, listening to him singing because/shine live for the very first times, hitouching him both times, all of it doesn’t compare to this moment. immediately after he said it, the music to ‘the answer’ came on along with the lights and there on his face too, the most beautiful smile. personally, i think it was the video that really boosted his mood. he just had this happy glow around him after it and this was probably behind what became the happiest performance of ’the answer’ ever. throughout his final performance of ‘the answer’, he was all smiles, shaking his head, swaying his body from side to side, just being really.. happy. or maybe he was just really happy he could finally go home. although i’d like to believe it was the former. 😂)

two hours later for the 6pm show, my friend and i decided to drag our hitouch out a little longer this time unlike for the afternoon show as it meant we could stand there watching him just a little longer since god knows when we can see him again. one thing i’ve observed about sunggyu during these hitouch sessions is that he was really sincere in his gestures and expressions. despite having to hitouch a total of 4,000 fans that day, his smile never once faltered or became awkward, as one might expect when you’re tired or when you’ve been smiling too long? his smile is always there on his face and when there are fans brave enough to say something to him before being dragged off by staff, he gives really genuine reactions. as i had watched him a lot longer for the evening show, i’ve seen him reply to fans and laugh with them as and when anyone of them tells him anything. it was such a warm sight to witness.

when it was finally my turn to hitouch him again for the evening show, i got my act together and told him ”happy solo anniversary!” in english, and i’m pretty sure i must’ve said it too fast due to the staff’s pressing presence which made me super nervous. sunggyu was stunned for a couple of moments, his head went back a bit and he blinked a couple of times with a zoned out expression, before giving a little smile and nodding. jfhjskfhkslsjdk. i am so bringing this moment to my grave.

this is where my fan account finally ends. thank you if you have read through every word from start to end, misspelled words and grammatical mistakes and all. being able to attend this fanmeet has made me really really happy and i hope one day, everyone else will have a chance like this as well to see for yourself how great a guy kim sunggyu really is!

1. What kind of food can’t you stand? spicy stuff and umm food loaded with exotic spices / herbs

2. If you could choose one minor inconvenience to never have to deal with again, what would you pick? my mouse ending up double clicking after a year or so

3. Have you got any useless talents? i have way too much trivia and animal facts. plus random skills with no practical use. oh and playing the piano is also a useless talent for me since i don’t really “use” it

4. If you were really really good at one thing, what would it be? my answer isn’t an “if” thing lol. i have a really good memory. it really helps with mostly anything i do + it makes studying easier. but sometimes people think it’s creepy that i remember little things about them, they think i keep notes about them or something lol-- but i really do just remember.

5. Name a few people you think are extremely good-looking - umm neil caffrey (matt bomer) from white collar, nick burkhardt (david giuntoli) from grimm, daniel shaw (brandon routh) from chuck -- i seem to have a type haha. omg i forgot jo in-sung. i’ve always thought he was handsome!

What was your favorite way to pass the time as a kid? i was a pretty boring kid. i just read books, watched cartoons, and organized things. as a kid i’d look at my toys but never really play with them because i liked seeing them all set up nicely. i just kept collecting stuff i liked. the most i’d do that’s remotely active was play with my dogs

7. What is something you’re proud of? i do well academically and i learn fast. and somehow i’m proud of how i’ve remained the same over the years.

What’s one character flaw in people that you just can’t tolerate? i don’t know if this is considered a character flaw but i really dislike poor manners haha. it drives me crazy when people open their mouth while chewing or if it’s too noisy. i die a bit inside. besides table manners and manners in general, i dislike people who are rowdy during inappropriate times.

9. Do you consider yourself to be more of a leader or a follower? both but to avoid stress sometimes i just want to follow. i’m a bit of a perfectionist / rule follower so i get frustrated a lot. i know not everyone is like a machine but it’s hard with my ocd lol. and no this isn’t just me saying ocd like most people when referring to certain things, i actually do have it and i have medication for it

10. What kind of student are/were you? normal i guess. i got along well with people, i didn’t fail anything, and i never rebelled or did anything wild. it was uneventful lol. i’m still technically a student now, but i see it more as an adult thing.

11. Butterfly effect question! Has there ever been a seemingly minor decision you’ve made (at the time) that ended up having a profound influence on your life? i’m sure everyone has one

Name your most irrational fear/aversion well it’s not a fear per se, but i have an aversion to most asian food, sorta? the smell sets me off especially if it has a bunch of spices or herbs in it. my nose is just sensitive and i get affected easily by strong scents. but i’m fine with japanese food, maybe some korean and chinese stuff. for fears, iono, i don’t think it’s irrational to be afraid of spiders and big cockroaches ><

13. Are there any fictional characters you find especially relatable? a bunch haha but it’s mostly people associating them with me first. i’m not tsundere..... how dare they

14. If you drink, what kind of drunk are you? Alternatively, what sort of person are you at parties? i don’t think i’ve ever gotten drunk the way people imagine people getting drunk to be like. i remain the same except i get a headache. i don’t really change at all. and in parties i guess i just stay close to my friends. stranger danger lmao

Or does it usually take a long time for you to trust someone? umm no i do not. i mean i can trust them fine but i don’t think i can believe their feelings until they can prove it isn’t just a short time attraction. i’m in for long term stuff so i don’t really wanna waste time if it’s not headed there. but yeah currently in a long term relationship

i am also a whore for long hidden glances and petty silly jealousy or crushing babbling nonsense (not like scary jealousy tho) and honestly who doesn’t love a good hearts racing, cheeks blushing cliche moment?

when drama’s do parodies of other famous drama’s idhfud they just take the mick it’s so funny

food, everywhere, yummy ramen, yummy spicy rice cakes… yummy… yumness…

now what cruel person… i want to say cheese in the trap just because i love baek in ho so much and it was such a thrill at the start… but i’ll have to go with weightlifting fairy… there’s more pro’s in this drama… like the fact i actually finished it when it was airing…

16: jealousy incarnate or oh my ghostess?

definitely jealousy incarnate, lee jong suk is really brilliant as lee hwa shin and even though i have to admit that i didn’t watch the side stories, and mostly only the stories of lee hwa shin and pyo nari… it’s still better than oh my ghostess in my opinion. the latter show made me uncomfortable- mostly due to the fact the main lead was falling in love with a mix of two people. it just made me a bit itchy :(( and sad :(( because then the romance is a bit of a mess

17: descendants of the sun or w: two world?

hmm.. i actually did start descendants but dihfiadhf for the life of me could not get past the first two episode, maybe it was the dramatic love song at the end of their first meeting that had me both scratching my head and stifling laughter. but i’ve heard good things about w, and did want to pick it up until i heard the ending went a bit lopsided, so to save myself disappointment, i did not watch it.

18: moonlight drawn by clouds or legend of the blue sea?

okay so this is tricky… mdbc is critically… probably a better drama but despite it’s flaws i really have to say legend of the blue sea. i watched it the whole way through, and i really love the soundtrack (which im actually listening to as i answer these) and the main characters, and it made me laugh a lot even if i did cry a little over the greatness it could’ve been :((

19: strong woman do bong soon or shopping king louie?

27: favourite kdrama bromance

okay so this is an interesting question… probably the friendship between park do kyung and all his male friends from oh hae young again… their loyalty was heart warming, but grimsie and kim shin from goblin were cute friends too.

i have a few!

oh hye won and her friend ji soo from secret love affair. i really loved their friendship, how ji soo was a pillar of support for hye won, she was a real friend.

i really truly love the friendship between the three main female leads in the woman who still wants to marry- it’s so warm.

oh hae young and her friend in oh hae young again are also very sweet, i’m really glad hae young had a friend she could talk to.

oh and the friendships between shim cheong and all her cute oddball friends in legend of the blue sea :’((( that was pure stuff right there

and let’s not forget the kids and family on the block in reply 1988, its honestly so lovely :’((

i feel like there’s almost always a sidekick friend in kdrama’s but never are they good friendships that make me feel things :( sometimes the friend is just a prop

29: favourite actor/actress duo? (one male, one female)

oooh… this is hard… if this was bollywood it would be easier because i would’ve just said kajol and sharukh khan… but here… lemme think… now that i think about it… i really liked gong hyo jin with so ji sub in the master’s sun. i also really liked park hyun sik and lim ji yeon together in high society. but otherwise… my brain is frazzled!!

how could i forget minah and namgung min in beautiful gong shim :((( they had such great chemistry

but lets be real jo jung suk and gong hyo jin in jealousy incarnate were hilarious.

32: do you watch drama’s with 30 plus episodes?

oh boy oh boy… i think i did watch one? but skipped a load of it to watch one couple… i mean i’ve thought about it? especially with father is strange… but it’s a pretty rare case. i know i’ve started some but couldn’t get through them all :(

ihfr’iue ye’qewu the kisses in coffee prince… are truly something… 10/10

54: recommend 3 fluffy AF dramas

efrhiptfuohf’rgh let us see… this is hard because kdrama’s don’t like being complete fluff… but the woman who wants to marry is a wild bit of fun :((

my girlfriend is a gumiho is a really nice watch, wouldn’t call it 100% fluff because… i cried a little

oh and splash splash love is short and sweet without being too silly :’)

18 - Favourite tv show? A british comedy called Miranda, it will always be funny and Miranda is honestly such a relatable character ahhhh I love her

29 - What’s the worst thing I’ve ever done? This is about the locker incident isn’t it, that might be the worst thing again, but then again 18 and a half years is a long time, I’ve probably done something worse at some point, I wouldn’t be surprised.

I can tell you the thing I feel most guilty about though

The year was 2015, we were in Yamaguchi in Japan at the 23rd world scout jamboree and we were sat round a ‘campfire’. There were people from several countries - UK, South Africa, Sweden, Indonesia and a few others. Anyway, so we’re all teaching each other campfire songs (and stuff) and it’s South Africa’s turn and they decide to go with the muffin man or something, and of course there’s action’s that go with it. So you do then and then you go round the circle and find someone else to join in with you. So I’m safe, I haven’t been picked yet and I’m the last person still sitting down and Thomas (one of my swedish friends) comes and tries to get me to join in and I refused (I mean I did have a valid reason but still!!) and so that’s what I feel most guilty about, seeing the look on his face.

Honestly I feel like apologising but you know, just randomly popping up and being like ‘hey Thomas do you remember…’ would be kinda weird idk

Hey guys! Another bit for you! This one is completely unrelated to the first one. Summary: It took Hoseok five minutes alone in his room for him to know it wasn't gonna happen. He wasn't sleeping alone. Not today.

Hoseok hovers on the hotel corridor, pacing out of nervousness and so the lights won't go out. In his back and forth he passes the members' doors. Stops. Looks. Sighs. Resumes pacing.

He shouldnt have let his date talk him into watching that scary movie. Why had he broken the promise he'd made to himself over 10 years ago when his noona made him watch 'The Ring' and he'd peed his pants during the night? No scary movies ever again.

Why did he betray himself like this? Sure, Ji Sung was incredibly attracrive and Hobi was super excited when the boy he'd been eyeing since last award season showed interest in him, especially considering it's really hard to find other gay men who are actually willing to act upon their sexualities in the Korean idol world.

But this was no excuse! He was supposed to have learned how to use the word "no" by now right?

I spent all that time teaching you when we were rookies and because of one pretty boy you forget everything you've learned? Yoongi hyung's voice says in his mind.

The light suddenly goes out in the corridor and Hoseok jumps, letting out a small noise. A mixture of fear and guilt spread through the back of his neck and he can feel the hairs in his arms standing up one by one. He moves quickly to remind the light he's still there.

I'm so stupid. Damn. If he was back in the dorm, it would be alright. He wouldn't even have to ask for company to distract from memories of bloody faces and lost limbs and all those jump scares. Back in the dorm, besides having the company of his lively dongsaengs, Jimin and Taehyungie, Jungkook would end up climbing in his bed at some point before he fell asleep anyway.

Things are different when they're on tour. On tour is when they get precious time off from the constant company of each other. And it's good. Necessary, even. He doesn't mind it at all. Except for now. Now he's regretting all of his life choices.

It took Hoseok five minutes alone in his room for him to know it wasn't gonna happen. He wasn't sleeping alone. Not today.

Except, it'd been probably about twenty minutes since he gathered up the courage to leave his room to go knock on somebody's door. He just hadn't had the guts to actually knock yet. It's not that he was ashamed of being scared. It's just that he knew there'd be questions. And he was just as afraid of the questions as he was of the dead lady in the movie.

He wasn't in the mood for explaining where he'd been and who he'd been with. Sejin-hyung had come along, discreetly, so that there wouldn't be any talk in the media. So that it'd be like just an outing with a friend who happened to be in the same country during their schedules. It was kind of the truth. He also knew that the members didn't mind. In fact, he could talk openly about boys and being gay with them - it wasn't a big deal. It wasn't the problem at all.

The problem was that today Hoseok felt silly. He hated feeling silly. Unless it was for fun, in front of ARMYs and on purpose, because he decided to act like it. Not when a situation made him feel like it was beyond his control. He felt kind of humiliated. He'd always thought of himself as strongminded person. Ever since he'd debuted he knew exactly who he was and who he wanted to be.

He'd just compromised his intergrity for a boy. And now he couldn't sleep. He couldn't face anyone.

So he was stuck. Stuck in a long corridor that was terrifying in and of itself and he couldn't go back to his room where a much more terrifying thing awaited. Silence.

Get your shit together, Seok-ah. His inner Yoongi-hyung voice said. Yoongi-hyung. Why was his voice inside Hoseok's mind like the voice of reason? And why hadn't that voice spoken up when he needed it to?

Actually, he knows why. Suga was being extra prickly during a group interview they had earlier. But only towards him. Hoseok got mad. Yoongi-hyung almost never acted prickly towards him. To everybody else, yes. Hoseok was special. Or he thought he was. He seeked him out to confront him about it after their schedule, but hyung had ridden a different van from his and when they got to the hotel he was nowhere to be seen.

So Hoseok decided to forget about him. And shut his voice out. He had a date with a cute guy! Yoongi-hyung shouldn't matter at a time like that! So he put on his tightest pants and his best perfume and happily set out to the theater and, unknowingly, to one of the worst nights of his life.

Now, though, the boy thinks Yoongi-hyung was probably mad at him in advance. Like he'd somehow predicted Hoseok was going to be an idiot.

The light goes out again. This time Hoseok screams. Right after he moves to get the light, however, a door opens. He screams again.

"What the hell are you doing?"

Yoongi-hyung. Great. The last person he wanted to encounter.

"Are you crying?"

Damn. Was he? Probably. He was paralyzed from fear.

Blink.

"Seok-ah. Did that guy do anything to you?"

What?

"What are you talking about, hyung?" Hoseok hiccups.

"Didn't you have a date tonight? Why are you crying?"

Blink.

Blink again.

"Hyung!" Hoseok bursts out in loud sobs.

Yoongi looks alarmed for one second, then steps out into the corridor and proceeds to thoughtfully steer Hoseok into his room so the other members don't wake up and a pandemonium starts. He shuts the door, goes to the minifridge, grabs a bottle of water, pours it into a glass, gives it to Hoseok and says with a serious and low voice:

"What did he do to you?"

The tone of Yoongi's voice takes Hoseok out of his crying attack and he starts babbling.

"Oh my god, hyung. No. He didn't do anything bad to me. He just insisted we see a horror movie. And I told him I didn't like it, but he asked me like two more times. And I don't know why I couldn't say no. Then all of a sudden I was sitting in that dark room watching a bloody ghost lady go around scaring people and I came back and Sejin-hyung left me at my room but I couldn't stay there because I was so afraid and I wanted to sleep in somebody else's room, but I was too embarrassed because I couldn't say no to him and I know that you're going to say I'm stupid and give me a lecture, I'll accept and I'll agree, but can you please let me sleep here tonight?"

Blink.

Yoongi walks into the bathroom and comes back with a toilet paper roll in his hand. Goes to his suitcase and grabs his long black shirt from Heich Bleide that Hoseok likes and then hands both items to the younger boy.

"Dry your tears, wash up and then come to bed"

Hoseok's heart feels a little bit warmer. He does what Yoongi tells him, although he has to wash with the door open because what if a water ghost comes to kill him? After he's done, he treads softly back to the room to find Yoongi resting on top of the covers with his eyes closed. He looks soft and cuddly. Hoseok gets the impulse to dive into bed and press his nose into his hyung's neckline.

Huh.

"Aren't you coming?" Hoseok jumps. Yoongi keeps his eyes closed.

"Hyung! Don't scare me!"

Yoongi chooses to ignore him and lifts the bedsheets to get under them. He folds the comforter on the side next to him and taps the bed, motioning for Hoseok to climb on.

"Get the lights"

The younger shuts off the lights, momentarily forgetting about his fear and yelps when he becomes aware of the darkness. He rushes to get in bed, but miscalculates the shape of it and falls half on top of Yoongi.

"Oof"

"Omo! Sorry, hyung!"

Hoseok rushes to get off, but Yoongi's arms tighten around him to keep him in place. He adjusts their limbs into a comfortable position and Hoseok can't see anything, but he thinks his nose might be close to his hyung's neck. He can smell soap and the detergent they use back at the dorm. The thought of being so close makes him blush.

"Hyung"

"Hmm?" Yoongi murmurs sleepily.

"How did you know I was on a date?"

His hyung stays silent for so long Hoseok thinks he might've fallen asleep. Then:

"I overead one of your texts earlier when we were doing makeup. By accident. Sorry"

"Oh. That's ok, I guess"

"Sorry" Soft breathing. "Hyung. Why were you mad at me today?"

A beat of silence longer than the last overcomes them and Hoseok's sure Yoongi's asleep now. But

"Seok-ah. Next time you want to go see a movie, hyung'll take you. We'll watch a very stupid romantic comedy"

Hoseok's heart skips a beat. He's sure that it's because Yoongi spoke out of nowhere when he was supposed to already be asleep. It starts beating faster when his hyung surprises him by softly caressing the back of his head and his hair.

"Alright?"

Hoseok's heart is beating madly now. He relaxes under Yoongi's touch and his nose touches the elder's skin. His neck is warm and the scent calms him. He feels like nothing could ever scare him right here and now. He sighs softly.

"Alright, hyung"
