There are many new friends on the archive, and many are young and have only known social media, which is why I wanted to say something!

Ao3 does not have an algorithm! It isn't a social media site, it's an archive.

Posting fics on Tumblr isn't the same as posting fics on Ao3

Ao3 is like a giant virtual bookshelf, and everyone is able to add their own stories to the bookshelf, all stored with different tags and different fandoms. Works are automatically sorted by newest to oldest, but filters, looking at bookmarks, and using the search function can change that.

Certain works are not pushed to the top like social media posts. More kudos and reads don't push a single work to more viewers by some algorithm. Unless otherwise filtered, works will be at the top of the page based on how recent it was posted.

Smaller fandoms get less views, less kudos, less bookmarks, and larger fandoms get more simply because of the number of people inside the fandom.

Ao3 is a giant virtual bookshelf- there is no algorithm, and there is no man behind the shelf pushing certain books forward.

Happy reading, and if you'd like to have more people notice a fic, why not share it with them! Send a dm to a fandom friend and it might turn into one of their favorite fics!

just found this and I stand by this recommendation

I was listening to some old songs and I stumbled upon Five for Fighting’s version of “All I Know” by Art Garfunkel and it reminded me of one of the best fics I’ve ever read and in which the song feature in a chapter.

The last time it updated was 2007 and usually you kind of cringe reading some fics you used to read back in the day, but not this one.

It’s a fanfic for “That 70’s Show” and the ship is Jackie/Hyde, who used to be an OTP and it’s called “Season 8 Redo” ‘cause I know most of us got upset with how the show ended…

The wonderful thing about it is that it’s written as an actual script from the show, so it feels like you’re watching it while you’re reading.

Characterization is AMAZING and it also has some very funny parts. It kinda makes you feel like the author is one of the writers of the show.

I decided to rec it because I’m gonna read it again. I don’t think I’ll ever get over how good it is. But I don’t think I’m doing it enough justice. So for those of you who used to like the show, I suggest you get on it!  

It is incomplete, but it has enough awesome chapters that it ends up not mattering in the least… so don’t be discouraged by the WIP 'cause you get many happy endings through the course of it.

Sorry to keep you guys waiting… been fighting a off stress induced flu for the past week, but now that I’m getting better I feel like writing again.

So here’s a litte snippet of what I’ll post soon.

So guys,

I wanted to start writing the second part to my “O Tempo Não Para”/Timetravel Lutavio AU headcanon (see part 1 here), but I ended up editing the first part!

I realized it was confusing before. I have everything in my head, but sometimes it’s complicated writing it down, especially when I do it impulsively like I did yesterday.. So I’ll probably upload the 2nd part tomorrow as soon as I write it. Now I need to go to sleep.  Please read the first part, because I’m pretty excited about it now! :)
