Image of the Week
Today is National Pet Day, so we're sharing one of the adorable pets from our collection! This photograph shows Dixie (good dog, center) with Eddy Whitby and Billy and Margaret Duryee. This photo was with others documenting "Happy 'Camp' Days" in an album kept by Eddy Whitby, tuberculosis patient, businessman, and eventual Saranac Lake mayor.
We love seeing photos of people with their pets throughout history--as long as there have been cameras, there have been photographs of dogs, cats, and other beloved pets!
[Historic Saranac Lake Collection, 2020.1.1.62. Gift of Randall Baldwin.]

Brienne said, "I remember a woman... she came from some place across the narrow sea. I could not even say what language she sang in, but her voice was as lovely as she was. She had eyes the color of plums and her waist was so tiny my father could put his hands around it. His hands were almost as big as mine." She closed her long, thick fingers, as if to hide them. "Did you sing for your father?" Catelyn asked. Brienne shook her head, staring down at her trencher as if to find some answer in the gravy. "For Lord Renly?" The girl reddened. "Never, I... his fool, he made cruel japes sometimes, and I..." "Some day you must sing for me."

I love historic photos of animals!! like yes!!!! you cared about this little guy so much to take a photograph of them but then!! someone knew you loved the animal so much that they donated it to a historical society!!!! that is the best thing
I say this as I am processing a donation that comes with 13 photos of a dog from the 1940s and you can just see how loved she was :)

whoever edited that bsd official art to make it look like chuuya is holding onto dazai’s arm will be put on trial for irrevocably changing my brain chemistry and making me so much worse
Tumblr media
the original and the edit in question. this artwork really makes me crave a mid to late 19th century historical au where Chuuya is a swordsman struggling with changes to his job due to the meiji restoration and with Dazai as a detective/private investigator who hires Chuuya as his bodyguard when a seemingly harmless investigation turns dangerous. they kind of hate each other (as per usual) but Chuuya needs the job and Dazai, while he proclaims to dislike chuuya, is also very smitten with chuuya’s fighting style and temper (as per usual).
