i'm thinking about barty and evan flirting on tiktok for months (in videos, comments, reposts, lip sync...) confusing people, leaving the world with crumbs of everything that happens between them. while they secretly text each other on instagram, everyone is just waiting for them to announce their relationship.

"i think they did it but i just can't prove it"

and so, after the release of the new movie in which evan starred, he has an interview scheduled. and he doesn't know it, it was all a big secret, but it's barty who was called to interview him.

they've never met in person, so as soon as evan sees barty basically lying in the chair in front of him, with a sadistic smile on his face, he starts sweating. and the interview is a disaster.

cause barty is all compliments, smirking, biting his lip, holding eye contact, moving on the chair, and evan doesn't listen to a single word of what he's saying. so basically all that happens is:

"evan, are you paying attention?"

"sorry, can you repeat the last question?"

and even if barty seems pleased with evan's discomfort, he isn't much calmer than him. cause he's been evan's fan since day one, he's obsessed with him, and he still can't believe he's talking to his celebrity crush, making him blush, laugh, evan's looking at him...

and so he has to act nonchalant when evan replies to his "can i ask you another question?" with a "yes, darling, tell me", and he really hopes evan didn't notice how he gasped when he casually dropped a french word in his speech with his amazing french accent (evan noticed, and took notes).

as soon as the interview ends, they run away to two different rooms because they can't even look each other in the eyes. then they post a photo on instagram just to confuse people even more,

and evan is like: "so my apartment..."

and barty just goes: "yes."

i feel like the main issue people take with the song of achilles's portrayal of patroclus is that they forget the loverboy himself is the narrator. why would he call himself strong. why would he call himself handsome. why would he include information in his story to us, the audience, from beyond the grave to show how cool or impressive he is, when the entire point of his voice coming through to us is to tell us about achilles?

i mean i get that he was made to be more passive in this story to highlight the ferocity of achilles, but some of the interpretations you guys are running with as valid are only meant to be the self-depreciating thoughts of a 16 year old queer boy in exile

My biggest issue with young!Jee is that he isn't anywhere near as smart as OG old!Jee, and that just doesn't feel right for the character. OG Jee would have known Zhao was manipulating him against Zuko's best interests the second Zhao opened his mouth.

i disagree. canon jee doesn't tell us much. and honestly jee hated zukos guts. i wouldn't be surprised if jee for some cheep booze told zhaos crew that zuko found the avatar in the south pole. he left, like the entire crew did as well, zukos ship on zhaos order. leaving zuko and iroh behind.

if your interpretation of original jee is that he is smart and a devoted lieutenant, that is fine by me. but it reads vary fanon to me.

People miss Laurent's thought process a lot when they say what he did to Damen wasn't justified, I think. Yes, it was excessive and extremely fucked up, but if you consider how he saw Damen, it makes a lot of sense.

1) Initially, he views Damen as a cold-blooded murderer who regularly rapes slaves that are raised from childhood to please him. That description makes him sound evil. Considering that Laurent was sexually abused by an older man in power, making Damen feel what he personally felt is karmic justice to him.

To put it like this, what would you do if the man who killed your brother and whom you know is a rapist just fell into your power? Wouldn't you want to teach him a lesson? Make him suffer so he doesn't hurt people anymore?

2) He blames Damen for the abuse he suffered at the hands of the Regent, which is partially true since he did remove Laurent's protector from the equation, although Damen didn't know any of that and killed Auguste for the good of general population. (And the Regent likely would've gotten Auguste killed anyhow 🤷‍♀️) Laurent can't take revenge on the Regent because a. there's still a part of him that believes the Regent cares for him and b. it wouldn't help him much if he were still underage, so he takes revenge on the other man he blames for his abuse.

Laurent's thought process is rather clear to follow and, if we consider his perspective, justified. Of course, he doesn't have all the necessary information (this is a CS Pacat book, after all), but he does what he thinks is best. Pretending that he's so evil that we couldn't understand his mindset just serves to make us think that we're different, that we can't commit atrocities against people because we think we're in the right, which is a dangerous set of ideas to hold.

His actions do make sense. We have to contend with the fact that we can commit evil actions against others, even those we (will) love, while being perfectly justified in our minds. And that's fucking terrifying.
