I have a bit of a bone to pick....
Pagan religions are not Neo-religions, technically.
Pagan religions are whatever we could salvage from the destruction that was/is Christianity.
Pagan is an umbrella term for those who follow the religions of BEFORE Christianity's bid for world domination, considering the fair few sects we have.
My mother is what we call a Mixed Bag Pagan, whilst I am a Norse Pagan. (Although, I have stated that I am No-One, the believer of old, "myth" religions, I have a stronger pull towards the Norse.)
Now, what does any of that mean? I'll explain it bit by bit.
Because "Pagan" is a bit of an umbrella term, no matter which religions we practice, we are overall Pagan.
And how we know which religion to partake in, the same as any other person partaking in religion. That gut feeling. The little voice inside us say, "This is it. This is the one." (Although, as exampled above, that is not always the case.)
To describe this pull, I'll give a brief example:
Imagine, if you will, we are sat across from eachother at a table. I am blindfolded. You set 3 cards down in front of me.
A Celtic knot
A Nordic rune
An Egyptian hiroglyph
You tell me, who has no idea what the cards display, to choose a card.
I will hesitate for a few moments, before inevitably picking up the card with the Nordic rune.
That is the pull. Some of us feel a pull to many, hence Mixed Bag, and some of us feel a pull to just one or an overarching one, hence why I do not mind the label "Norse Pagan".
Technically, any non-Christian religion is a Pagan religion, if you really want to get technical...
Anyway, on a technicality, there really ain't no Neo about Paganism. It's an umbrella term for what was salvaged and pieced together. Kinda like Kintsugi in a respect.

I am an awkward person. I think you find that endearing, how I send memes like love notes. Each one says - I saw this and thought of you!
Is it any surprise how I send them nearly constantly. How when you react to some and not others, I tailor what I send so I might get to know you better through cheems and Stonks.
Ours is a love story in pastel hiroglyphs with Sans Serif font, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
One day I’ll bring you sunsets like these, on our shared porch swing, as we giggle and show each other our screens still full of memes while the sky dances her finale.

Western History is deeply eurocentric and as much as I am entertained by Ancient Aliens, it feels me with so much more fucking awe and wonder that PEOPLE made these things. There's an ostracon in the British museum that lists workers on a project, what day they were absent, and why.
Look the Aztecs built a FLOATING CITY. Tenochtitlan was frankly on par with Venice in terms of city planning AT THE SAME POINT IN HISTORY. Canals with canoes for transportation, floating farms, and all the land routes into the city had bridges that could be moved for defense. It blew the damned Spaniards' MINDS that a city like that could even exist!
Engineers and dreamers and scientists have existed since people started wondering how things worked and how to make things, and make them better. Europe did not have the monopoly.
#history#look i get passionate about how GOOD people have been at making things#i saw the king tut exhibit and freaked out over the craftsmanship on some of the chests. the tiny hiroglyphics!#THE TINY PERFECT HINGES#the teeny tiny gemstone and stone and ceramic inlays and jewlery#i nearly cried over it#someone made that 3000 years ago and its such skilled work!

Liz 😭😭 you know what I need 😭😭 aqualight fam jam 😁😁😁 pretty please??????? 💕💕💕💕
“Triton!” Kaldur shouted. Kiran’s heart stopped for a moment as he chased his dog around a corner, scuffing the hiroglyphs on the wall even more than age and erosion had already done for them.
She sighed down at her own dog. Ray was too fat and lazy to go running after Triton the nimble labrador, but at least that made him more well-behaved.
“Stay.” She told him firmly. Then making sure her hiking boots were firmly tied, she took off after her husband.
“Triton, no! Bad dog!” Kaldur had grabbed Triton’s leash again by the time Kiran caught up to them, but his unclipped claws pawed urgently at the walls. Kiran almost burst into tears at the dust raining down from the wall.
“Triton! Stop it!” Kiran stomped emphatically, and the chocolate lab dropped down, hiding his face beneath his paws.
Kaldur sighed, “Let’s get back to camp.”
“Before more ruins are destroyed beyond repair.” Kiran glared at Triton, who whimpered again.
Kaldur tried to lead him out of the ruins, but Triton refused to move, whimpering as he tugged on his leash, making a pawing motion at the wall he’d already half-destroyed.
“What is it, boy?” Kaldur asked, kneeling down next to him.
Kiran figured she might as well make rubbings of what she could while they were down there, and took out a piece of parchment paper.
Lumbering along, Ray pattered down the hall and sat down with a little floof in his tail, staring at the wall just like Triton.
“There’s something down here, something…off.” Kaldur didn’t know how else to describe it.
“Really, Kal, you’re more superstitious than I am, and I’m the archaeologist here.”
With her right hand, she began to brush away some of the dust covering the markings, and they began to glow, just like her tattoo.
“Huh?” She blinked. Triton and Ray barked, satisfied that their humans had discovered what they knew along. Kiran brushed more of the markings, and slowly began to notice that it wasn’t the hieroglyphs that were glowing, but rather the spaces between them, to make the awkward shapes of other larger glowing words.
She brushed her tattooed arm over every inch of the wall she could reach.
“Help me!” Kaldur lifted her up onto his shoulder before she even had to ask, allowing her to stretch up and get the topmost corners, just in case.
She stepped back, once she was certain she’d activated all the symbols on the door, brushing spiderwebs from her clothes.
“What do they say?” Kaldur asked, taking her hand.
Kiran cleared her throat for the correct pronunciation.
“Gods…Awaken.”
The light elevated to blinding, just like the night Kiran had received her powers. Kaldur pulled her to him as the dogs ducked behind their paws. The light pushed against them like a wind, determined to permeate every corner of the pyramid.
Even after the light behind their eyelids faded, they were hesitant to look.
The wall had disappeared, and staring back at Kiran and Kaldur was a young boy, draped in a stained white sheet. His dreadlocks were cropped close to his head, and though the light had faded, his eyes glowed gold.
“Who…who are you?” He whispered.
