this is non comic or OSP related, so sorry if i'm overstepping, but do you have any advice for someone that wants to move/exercise more but is utterly unmotivated?(not exercise for muscles, just movement for the sake of movement)
Honestly? Think of something physically demanding you want to be able to do. Stuff like hiking and/or climbing rough terrain, running free with the wind in your hair, swordfighting, stunt falls, sick metal gear combat rolls - anything that has ever made you sit up and think "I wish I could do that!" Once you reframe movement and exercise as a way to make your body capable of more fun things, it becomes a lot easier to stay motivated.

GLOW UP DIARY #5 : FIND YOUR PURPOSE
"pain is a price to pay for happiness"

#5:FIND PURPOSE
✉️:Finding a meaningful life purpose is a profound journey that many people embark on at different stages of their lives. It involves discovering what brings fulfillment, direction, and satisfaction. Identifying a purpose can help guide decisions, inspire actions, and provide a sense of meaning in both personal and professional aspects of life.
1.Ikigai: The Japanese Secret to Finding Your Life’s Purpose
﹙ 💌 ﹚ we will explore the concept of Ikigai, a Japanese term that means “a reason for being.” Ikigai is important to know because it offers a pathway to finding purpose and joy in life. It involves harmonizing four key elements: what you love, what you are good at, what the world needs, and what you can be rewarded for...
2.EVERYTHING ABOUT IKIGAI
Basically, ikigai is seen as the convergence of the following four core elements:
1. What you love (your passion)
2. What the world needs (your mission)
3. What you are good at (your vocation)
4. What you can get paid for (your profession)
The word ikigai, that space in the middle of these four primary elements, is seen by the Japanese as the source of value or what make one's life truly worthwhile.
THE 10 RULES OF IKIGAI
1. Stay Active, Don’t Retire:
- The idea behind this rule is to keep your mind and body engaged in meaningful activities. Retirement doesn't mean stopping all productive work. It encourages finding activities you enjoy and continuing to contribute to society, which can provide a sense of purpose and satisfaction.
-Benefits: Staying active helps maintain cognitive function, physical health, and emotional well-being. It can prevent feelings of uselessness and isolation.
2. Take It Slow:
- Embrace a slower, more deliberate pace of life. Instead of rushing through tasks, take time to savor and appreciate the process.
- Benefits:This can reduce stress and anxiety, improve the quality of your work and help u enjoy life more fully. It encourages mindfulness and living in the present moment.
3. Don’t Fill Your Stomach:
- The 80% rule, also known as "hara hachi bu" advises stopping eating when you're 80% full, rather than completely sated.
- Benefits: This practice promotes better digestion, prevents overeating, and can lead to a healthier weight. It’s associated with longevity and reduced risk of chronic diseases.
4. Surround Yourself with Good Friends:
- Build and maintain strong, positive relationships. Spend time with people who uplift and support you.
- Benefits: Good friends provide emotional support, reduce stress, and enhance your sense of belonging. Strong social connections are linked to better mental health and increased life expectancy.
5. Get in Shape for Your Next Birthday:
- Regular physical activity is essential for maintaining health and energy. Aim to improve or maintain your fitness level each year.
- Benefits: Exercise boosts physical health, mental clarity, and mood. It helps prevent chronic diseases, improves sleep, and enhances overall quality of life.
6. Smile:
- Adopting a positive attitude and smiling can improve your mood and the mood of those around you.
- Benefits: Smiling releases endorphins, reduces stress, and promotes a positive outlook. It can improve social interactions and relationships.
7. Reconnect with Nature:
- Spend time outdoors and appreciate the natural world. This can involve walking in parks, hiking, gardening, or simply enjoying a sunny day.
- Benefits: Nature exposure reduces stress, boosts mood, and improves mental health. It can also enhance physical health and encourage a sense of wonder and connection to the world.
8. Give Thanks:
- Practice gratitude regularly by acknowledging and appreciating the positive aspects of your life.
- Benefits: Gratitude enhances happiness, reduces negative emotions, and improves mental health. It can also strengthen relationships and foster a more positive outlook on life.
9. Live in the Moment:
- Focus on the present rather than dwelling on the past or worrying about the future. Engage fully in whatever you are doing at the moment.
- Benefits:This practice, also known as mindfulness, reduces stress and enhances enjoyment and satisfaction. It can improve mental clarity and emotional regulation.
10. Follow Your Ikigai:
-Discover and pursue your Ikigai—the intersection of what you love, what you are good at, what the world needs, and what you can be paid for. Let this guide your life choices and actions.
- Benefits:Finding and following your Ikigai leads to a fulfilling and meaningful life. It helps align your passions with your skills and societal contributions, resulting in a sense of purpose and happiness.

Nesta’s emotional breakdown at the end of the hike was not a product of a well-meaning attempt to improve her well-being, but a manipulative pseudo-therapeutic strategy that aimed to simulate vulnerability and masquerade as progress in Nesta’s character arc.
The narrative would have you believe that the hike was an ordeal of self-discovery for Nesta, that Cassian was using a bit of “tough love” to help Nesta get better and grow as a person. But it operates on the idea that exposure to nature, which is presumed to be inherently beneficial, would give Nesta the push she needed to work through her issues and unpack the trauma that had been affecting her all throughout the book. But, this couldn’t be further from the reality that we are shown. Exercise like hiking can be immensely beneficial to one’s mental wellbeing and it can also be therapeutic in some cases, but such benefits are negated when the people involved are subjected to undue hardship and danger during that exercise.
It’s not a coincidence that Nesta opening up to Cassian comes directly after an extremely straining hike, during which she exhausted herself mentally and physically all while in the midst of intense psychological stress. Nobody told her that Feyre was alright after their heated argument, nobody told her that Feyre AGREED that Nesta did the right thing and understood why she did it. Consequently, this omission prolongs Nesta’s emotional anguish and guilt unnecessarily and makes the ordeal of the hike even worse.
Nesta, who has never hiked before in her life, is forced on one against her will, chaperoned by Cassian who does not speak to her and hardly looks at her during the 2 day hike. This is a detail that exposes this hike for what it truly is, a means of breaking Nesta’s spirit to get her back in line. It was never about piecing her back together, it was about shattering her emotionally to punish her for defying Rhysand’s authority. But, the text doesn’t want to admit that, it wants to pretend to make a grand statement on mental health and make a cheap copy of Cheryl Strayed’s memoir “Wild” without any of the pathos. Cassian can feel warm and fuzzy about the accomplishment of opening Nesta’s heart, when in reality, that vulnerability he witnesses is entirely a result of prolonged stress and pain.
So could it be, that Nesta’s emotional “ breakthrough” at the end of the hike, was not due to Cassian’s and the IC’s efforts to help her, but the combined strain of dehydration, exhaustion and intense emotional distress finally catching up with her after repressing it for 2 days straight?

I really don't get the intrinsic joy of exercise many people seem to - a nice hike, sure, messing around with weights? The fuck is 'runners high'?
However I do immensely enjoy the extrinsic benefits of, like, things becoming noticeably and meaningfully easier. Being able to run a distance that left you gasping and clutching your heart a month ago with no issues feels great!
Sadly the only way to maintain this feeling is to keep pushing yourself to the level of discomfort and pain at regularly scheduled sacrifice times. One of many serious imperfections with the human body.

HELLO!!!! Soo i was wondering if you could do a very strictly platonic COD MW2 141 (or others, whatever u want!) x gn or fem (she/they pronouns or they/them pronouns, both are fine to me) reader 😸 it can be them interacting, or on a mission, or something along those lines!!! For aome specifications, i was thinking of the reader being the youngest in the 141, but still very skilled at what they do. Lots of love!!! ❤️❤️
Hmmm…I believe have just the thing for you, anon! *climbs up the rolling library ladder and comes down with a story*. I was saving this for another time but, here, you can have it.
(It doesn’t have everything you requested in it, and I added a few things here and there, but I think it works. Enjoy!)
———————————————————————
“Are they okay?”
“I don’t know, but I think they’re breathing.”
“You sure?”
Soap hikes up his pants and settles on a bench, a few meters away from where your body lies. He tilts his head and squints his eyes, searching for any signs of movement.
“Yes,” he finally says to Gaz, who sits beside him, legs stretched out and back resting against the concrete wall. “You’re right—they’re breathing.”
You all just returned to your temporary base from your latest mission, exhausted but unharmed. It has been a while since you managed to secure a win, and a much-needed one at that, after a string of defeats which began to take a toll on the team’s morale. Fights started to break out, filled with little jabs of what could have been done better, whose fault it was, and pointing fingers instead of acknowledging the team’s effort.
On the outside, you maintained a professional facade for the contractors and the world, but the strain was beginning to show behind closed doors. It was like a house with a pristine front porch, while the backyard concealed a chaotic mess, hidden from view.
But this time, you nailed it—all of you. Whether it was luck, improved communication, better strategy, or the alignment of stars, you managed to come through. And suddenly, the future seemed a little brighter, for now.
“I can hear you, you know.” You murmur, slowly pushing yourself up into a seated position.
“Didn’t mean to disturb you,” Soap says, “we were just making sure you were alright; you took quite the beating earlier.”
You give him a tired smile. “No worries,” you reply, stretching your arms and legs. “I was just doing some breathing exercises to relax.”
“You know,” he says to Gaz, “I read about these breathing exercises, and they’re supposed to—”
“You read?”
Your attention shifts to the corner nearby, where Ghost and Price stand, engaged in their conversation about the mission. Price smiles at Ghost’s comment, but Ghost’s tone suggests he isn’t joking. It’s hard to tell since his voice always sounds the same, whether telling jokes or giving orders.
“Yes,” Soap replies, “and they say it’s supposed to help calm certain edgy, skull-faced boys.”
“As a matter of fact, I think you would all benefit from this,” you state, spreading your arms wide, inviting them to join you. “Lie down.”
“Not my way of calming down, kid,” Ghost replies, “I’d much rather prefer a glass of bourbon.”
“Do you have a glass of bourbon right now, Lt?”
“No.”
“Then lie down.”
“Order me one more time, you little sh-”
Price claps his hands once and places his right hand on Ghost’s shoulder, giving him gentle pats.
“Come on, brother,” he says, “We have nothing else to do right now—our flight won’t be arriving anytime soon, and my back is killing me.”
You’ve often wondered what makes the Lieutenant so salty, and each time you resorted to blaming that mask of his. Having it on all the time must be uncomfortable, like a bra that you can’t wait to sling across the room at the end of a long day. But you never doubted what brings him back to his senses or at least makes him more accepting—it was Price himself.
Ghost sighs and removes the towel he had draped over his shoulder. He places it on the ground and lies down. Soap, Gaz, and Price follow his lead, with Price placing a towel while the others rest directly on the concrete. Ghost mutters something like “ya filthy mutts” under his breath, and you make soothing hushing noises to prevent any potential conflict from arising. The last thing you want right now is a simple breathing exercise to turn into a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu session.
You wait for them to settle in a comfortable position, and with a gentle voice, you begin guiding them through.
“Let’s start by taking a deep breath through the nose,” you whisper. “Feel the air fill your lungs. Hold it in, then slowly exhale through your mouth.”
You continue the guidance, leading them through a series of deep breaths. You focus on the softness in your voice and pair it with the rhythm of your words to create a soothing cadence.
“As you inhale, imagine a wave washing over you,” you continue. “And as you exhale, imagine releasing any burden, letting it drift away with each breath.”
As you guide them through the breathing exercise, everything becomes so serene, even for you, who acts as their guide. There’s some heavy breathing and slight shifting here and there, but that’s much better than the usual arguments, yelling, and complaints. There are no more blame games or defeated postures. You have all worked so hard. Now you and the team can finally find some peace.
You twist your body to look at your teammates, and a smile tugs at the corners of your lips as you find them all asleep, like children at nap time.
Ghost has one hand behind his head, the other resting on his chest. He has finally let go of the tension that usually consumes him. So much for that glass of bourbon, Lieutenant, you think to yourself.
Soap is curled up to the side, with his knees drawn closer to his body. He has formed a pillow with his hands and placed them under his head.
Next to him, Gaz lies on his back, one leg straight and the other bent to the side, like a ballerina caught mid-spin.
Price placed his hat on his face, shielding his eyes from the light. His legs are crossed, and his fingers are interlocked on his stomach.
You continue speaking, but softer now, to avoid waking them. You rise up, careful not to disturb them, and move silently to the door, leaving it slightly open, to not startle them upon closing it.
You step out into the hallway and close your eyes, taking one deep breath of your own.

Crafting your lifestyle
In our ever-evolving world, it becomes increasingly clear that a one-size-fits-all approach to health and wellness simply does not work. Just as each of us is a unique tapestry woven from our experiences, genetics, and preferences, so too must our lifestyles reflect that individuality.
Consider the popular trend of intermittent fasting. While it might be beneficial for some, for others—myself included—it can lead to discomfort and imbalance. Particularly for those grappling with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) or sensitivities to fat absorption, a more frequent, smaller meal approach may be far more suitable. By nourishing ourselves in this manner, we can foster better digestion and overall well-being, allowing our bodies to thrive rather than struggle.
Similarly, our dietary needs are not universally applicable. Some individuals find solace and nourishment in traditional grains and a higher fiber intake, while others might require different macronutrient balances to feel their best. Our cultural backgrounds and personal histories shape our dietary preferences and needs, reminding us that the wisdom of traditional cuisines can offer invaluable insights into what best supports our health.
Physical movement is yet another realm where personalization is paramount. Each body has its unique strengths and predispositions. Engaging in exercise that resonates with your physicality, rather than blindly following trends, is essential. If you find joy in dancing or hiking, pursue those paths. Conversely, forcing yourself into high-intensity workouts simply because they are popular can lead to frustration and burnout. Embrace what you love; your body will thank you.
The same principle applies to our study habits, sleep patterns, and interpersonal relationships. Each person operates on their unique rhythm. Some flourish in short, focused study sessions, while others thrive with longer, uninterrupted periods of concentration. Similarly, understanding your sleep needs—whether that’s a solid eight hours or something less—can significantly enhance your quality of life. Relationships, too, benefit from this understanding; recognizing your style of connection and communication fosters deeper, more authentic bonds.
In essence, our lives are best lived when we honor our individual journeys. By acknowledging that each person has distinct needs and preferences, we can cultivate a lifestyle that aligns with who we truly are. Let’s strive for a life that celebrates our uniqueness, where every choice reflects our personal stories and aspirations. After all, the most fulfilling path is the one crafted by our own hands.

MARS, the planet of ACTION: What type of exercise Mars in each sign makes me think of
Note: this is not necessarily advice about exercise to consider based on your Mars sign. So many things in the chart and the individual’s life will tweak the picture. Being that I’m a 6th house Mars who’s making it a goal lately to exercise daily (or most-daily😆) because I see the benefits for my mental and physical health of having intentional physical activity in my routine, this is just my musings on the type of exercise that comes to mind first/strongest when thinking about the archetypes of each sign. ✨
Mars in Aries- lifting weights/strength training 🏋️♀️ Mars at home! I thought about maybe also going with martial arts for this one! ❤️🔥 Mars/Aries does have a strong purpose for defense. As the first sign in the zodiac, Aries’ archetype is also that of a straightforward, more simple and direct energy. To simply get buff seems like quite the way to pay tribute to this potent combined yang energy! 💪
Mars in Taurus- Yoga 🧘🏽♂️ Taurus needs something at a bit slower of a physical pace, and the very conscientious attention yoga places on your relationship with your body is very Taurus/2nd house. Plus every Taurus rising I’ve ever known has been into meditation and/or yoga. 🤷♀️ Always looking for the calmest ways to do things! 🧘♀️
Mars in Gemini- Running 🏃🏻♀️ idk this just seems like a flighty Mars sign! 🏃♂️🚀💨
Mars in Cancer- In-home exercise, regardless of type, is what immediately comes to mind! Maybe a really pimped out Mars in Cancer would have an in-home pool.💧😂 🏊♀️🏠
Mars in Leo- Dancing! 💃🏻🕺🏼This is my Mars sign and never been a dancer, so this goes to show how I’m just thinking about the archetypes of the signs. But the Sun’s gotta shine/will get noticed 🌞 and dancing also is so highly CREATIVE. ♌️
Mars in Virgo- Gymnastics 🤸🏿♀️ I’m just so impressed with the precision♍️ in the routines of gymnasts. Perhaps Pilates is another example, that’s a little more common place. I personally avoid any exercise that requires attention to precise detail as it gets my Mars worked up in a bad way😤… so more power to anyone who’s built to like this type of exercise!
Mars in Libra- Ballet 🩰 The pure archetype of Libra is grace. Enough said.
Mars in Scorpio- whichever combat sport or martial art is the slyest. 😂 Mars at home I think could be quite motivated to be fighting somebody; but Scorpio’s gonna be concerned with technique, not in it to make a big bold scene. 🤺
Mars in Sagittarius- Hiking 🥾🌄🌲 Or biking! 🚴🏻♀️ The sign built for exploring. Hiking is always an adventure. You never quite know what you’ll see even when you’re hiking nature trails you’ve hiked before. And it tends to be a popular activity when visiting new places. ✈️
Mars in Capricorn- Climbing 🧗🏽♂️ Climbing has an obvious association with Capricorn. 🐐🌄 And Caps could always use inspiration to reach some pinnacle! 🙏 Also, fun fact, Saturn is the planet that rules the skeletal system and muscles in medical astrology. 🩻 Climbing works basically every muscle in your body!
Mars in Aquarius- some eccentric aerial sport. 😂 I don’t know much about anything in this area, I just know something that’s done in the air 🌬️ and something that’s unusual makes me think of Aquarius! ♒️
Mars in Pisces- Swimming 🏊♀️ I’m giving the final water💧sign, the one most like the vastness of the whole ocean, this official association with swimming. Related fun fact: my Piscean🌞 grandmother was the one who taught me how to swim (and was very delighted to do it). 💙
Bonus thoughts, from a Mars conjunct Venus: it’s really worth considering exercise that puts you in nature if you too have this conjunction, or Venus in harmonious aspect with Mars!🌲🌷 On this note, I’d think of Mars-Mercury being suited for things that are also exercise for the mind, Mars-Sun being suited for daytime outside exercise, Mars-Moon being a good fit for nighttime exercise, and exercise in new places or that doesn’t follow a set routine being suited for Mars-Jupiter!

Werewolf partner headcanons
Sfw:
*Pats werewolf* this werewolf can fit so much love in them-
But seriously, by nature werewolves are highly affectionate, especially physically.
Perhaps not initially. They will be very aware they’re poor human partner may not be used to overwhelming affection yet :(. They will be super good, they will hold themselves back looking like sad little puppies.
Please just let them and let them cuddle you they’ll be so happy :(
Like the moment you give them the green light they will be all over you. Cuddles, kisses, pets. All over you. They love you! Why wouldn’t they want to cuddle you all the time :(
There will also be a lot of scenting and licking. The licking I imagine is like kissing for them, little affectionate licks, big sloppy licks all kinds.
They want to show they love you! And it has the added benefit of removing any scent on you besides their own. You should smell like them! Not others!
Scenting is also a massive thing.
Early in a relationship they’ll hold hands and give you their jacket to make sure you carry their scent. But if it gets serious it’s all over.
Cuddling together, showering together, making sure you spend every moment covering you in their scent.
But the reverse is also true. They love your scent! They want to be covered in it! Please let them. They wanna smell like you so bad, you smell like heaven to them and they want you to smell like them.
Speaking of scent there will be some adjustments to your life style. Overly scented stuff isn’t any good for a werewolf. They will not only be severely discomforted because of their smell sensitivity but smell is a key part of how they read emotion. It a smell strongly covers your natural smell is can be very upsetting as they can’t get a proper read of emotions or health. Very upset baby.
Of course you can have scented stuff. The right level of scent can be extremely complimentary to your natural smell. But they have strong sensory needs to just be aware of that. Be kind to your werewolf lover!
Werewolves are also very active and very hungry. You’ll need to be prepared for that. They won’t make you do exercise with them but they will like romantic walks and hikes and will be high energy.
Note for my physically disabled and chronic pain bros they will be accommodating to a T. They will lend support whenever needed and help you with any physical therapy and pain management.
Pack is pack. No matter what. When they love you they do anything to make sure you are safe and accommodated for and their family will do the same.
These guys are also big blankies. Wolf and human form. Werewolves are big, big and hairy and physically affectionate. Always snuggles and nuzzles. They will lay on top of you and around you like big fuzzy weighted blankets.
They do run hot as well. Combination of their metabolism and their natural magics. Great in the winter but they do suffer in the summer and hate not being able to fully cuddle with you because you both overheat. They will do a full bellyflop into a pool of water and lay there, they will do the big shake too. But in winter? Oh goddamn, cuddles for days.
Curling by the fire after eating a feast, safe in their territory with their partner. Werewolf dream scenario.
They are also big on various acts of service. Particularly ones that involve taking care of you. Feeding you, massages, kisses and cuddles, spa days, you name it.
NSFW
Now the dirty >;3
Werewolves are high energy, so they tend to have high sec drives. They will run you ragged if given the opportunity. So if you’re gonna go all out make sure you take the next day off work, maybe the next few days.
Like wolves they have a form of Estrus. Males and females are generally fertile all the time, but lower than average. However when they hit these periods they become highly fertile. And really horny. Make sure you grab some magical birth control because that’s the only shit that’s gonna stop you getting pregnant. But don’t worry, your werewolf will also take birth control if you’re not ready for pups yet.
They run hot, so werewolf dick and pussy? Hot as fuck, temperature play at work here.
They are also Quite hairy. I imagine in werewolf culture that long hair is common, as are hairy bodies. They do groom, but you won’t find a hairless werewolf.
Lots of cum, they fucking gush, male or female. So sex is gonna be messy, they are gonna get you covered. No point trying to stay clean because not only to werewolves love seeing their lovers covered in their cum but it also links into their scenting of you and means they will be very happy.
Oral fixation baby! No matter what you got, they wanna lick it, hell they wanna lick you all over. This can lead to very much causing oversensitivity. Once they start they get drunk your equipment quickly. They will eat you out or suck you off for hours. Good luck and godspeed.
They fuck like beasts. They can and will be gentle but they need to let go as well. You may not be able to walk for a while until you get used to it. Doesn’t matter, male or female you are gonna be walking funny until you can build up endurance.
It’s a lot, they will hold themselves back at first but soon it will be a test of endurance.
Aftercare royalty. Food, baths and cuddles are holy trinity and they will ensure you are happy and comfy.

Hi ❤️ I was wondering, do you have some recs/advices for light cardio HIIT sessions? I follow a weight lifting program online split on 3 days, i'd like to do some type of cardio on a fourth day but online there is.. TOO MUCH infos, i'm basically a beginner still and i'm getting so confused 😭
hi hi thank you for asking I LOVE these questions ❤️ I totally get what you mean about Too Much Information, fitness internet is chockfull of info but it can and does get overwhelming (and contact story!) especially if you're a beginner.
On cardio: I'm a big cardio fan, and could yap about the benefits all day. However! I feel very strongly that the best kind of cardio is the one that you actually like doing. If you're "just" looking to add "do more cardio" to your schedule, without any specific goals, the type of cardio matters a lot less than whether it's going to be fun for you to do. It can be as simple as doing 15/20 mins on an exercise bike after you're done at the gym, or dancing to kpop videos in your bedroom, or going on a moderate hike on Saturdays. If you want to add some more structured workouts, that's also great — more on that below — but IME, finding a form of cardio that you actually enjoy is a lot more important in the long run than trying to find THE perfect cardio workout.
this is the part where I yap. sorry.
SAMPLE CARDIO ROUTINE FOR LIFTERS from this amazing (very insightful!) r/fitness post by a lifting coach who's very solid
Something like this is IMO ideal if you don't have time or inclination to do much else. If it looks good to you, stop here! No need to read on. If you want more info and resources, go on
What's HIIT anyway?
sorry to be pedantic BUT I think it's important when exploring online fitness resources to know this: "light HIIT" is a misnomer. HIIT has become kind of a buzzword that's overused in fitness circles for marketing / SEO reasons, and I understand why (visibility!) but I wanted to clarify this just so you know what to look for going forward. HIIT = "High-intensity interval training": short bursts of exercise that have your heart literally jumping in your throat, followed by recovery. You're meant to give it your absolute all and flop dead like a fish on the grass when you're done. The upside is that HIIT workouts are very short; the downside is that they're very intense, and it can be kind of mentally daunting to psyche yourself up to do it.
So maybe I don't want to do the mentally daunting workout. What else is there?
NON-HIIT WORKOUTS THAT FUCK
Just because something is branded as "HIIT" when it's not, it doesn't mean it's not a damn good workout in its own right. Here is a youtube playlist from a "follow along workouts" fitness influencer who I LOVED during the pandemic (Caroline Girvan, I've yapped about her before). I used to do one of her cardio-heavy workouts once a week as an integration to an at-home fitness routine. That playlist I linked includes 92 (NINETY TWO) workouts. Some are bodyweight, some use dumbells for resistance; pick and choose.
LIGHT CARDIO
Maybe this is what you were looking for in the first place! LISS = Low-Intensity Steady Cardio. As the name implies, instead of "high-intensity bursts + recovery" style of workout, LISS workout means that you constantly keep moving at a steady rate. The downside is that LISS workouts are much longer, and maybe more dull, and you're better off doing them multiple times a week to see benefits. The upside is that they're less taxing on your body and require less recovery time, and they can be paired up with lifting days. Something like 15 mins on an exercise bike as a cooldown after lifting + one longer session (40+ min) on a day you don't lift would be what I think of as "integrating cardio into a lifting schedule" if you don't want to do anything high intensity. Replace exercise bike with walking up an incline or jogging or swimming or dancing or whatever. You can mix and match. You can take a brisk half hour walk 3 times a week and go on a hike every other weekend. Just find something that you enjoy and can stick to ( <- personally I have an audiobook I save to listen to ONLY when I'm doing chill-ish cardio to entertain me during)
Nevermind those alternatives. I want to do HIIT anyway. What do I do?
resources: introduction to HIIT writeup from r/HIIT (not famliar with the sub but the guide looks pretty solid) + some examples of HIIT workouts that you can do anywhere depending on your preferences (bodyweight training, exercise bike or rowing machine, kettlebell swings etc)
Here's an example of a follow-along HIIT workout from an influencer I think is very solid: ONE, TWO. They're 15 minutes long and pretty much what I mean when I say that HIIT is meant to be short and deadly; you do something like this, you recover, you're done.
BIG disclaimer: Don't start with any moves that are too fancy at first. Because HIIT = high intensity, that mostly translates into "doing some moves very fast to try and get your heart rate up within the interval window" and some people interpret that as trying to get in as many reps as possible. this goes extra hard for "follow along" workouts but also in general. If you're not very familiar with those moves, you can risk injury. Some HIIT routines are very dynamic, and if you don't have the movements nailed down, you're better off focusing on maintaining form rather than doing them really fast.
Other disclaimer: I would still pair up HIIT once a week with some more chill cardio on lifting days. If it's possible. But if you're doing HIIT in an intense way, that's already a lot!
TLDR
Summing up. Example of HIIT workouts. Follow alongs: one, two, three. I'd recommend doing one of these once a week if you like them, on a non-lifting day. If these aren't your speed, then a longer session of moderate cardio on a non-lifting day would be good, depending on what you have access to and enjoy. You can also do moderate cardio on lifting days if you're feeling extra motivated.
long-ass science-y article on benefits of cardio for weightlifters because I just really love this blogger

im a different anon but im just curious what advice you would give to someone whos been pillbugging it for um. over a year now
mmm i cant really answer how to stop having depression which im guessing is what u mean + i dont know how ur head works but ive been living mostly NEET-ly for more than 2 yrs now and everyday im getting a better curve at dealing with it so i can tell u what works for me.
half the time when im pillbugging hard im paralyzed by a nontangible fear and the only thing that could stop it is adressing wherever the fear is coming from but the confrontation of the topic, trying to figure out where its even coming from, is terrifying too so i dont do it and stay swimming in tar. theres a sentence people keep saying when they explain why they watch 2 hour video essays "it makes my head go quiet". thats the enemy, the thought, not the person saying it. long term i mean. when its short term anguish that can be bridged by pillbugging its fine i think but if ur "making ur head quiet" for more than a month i urge u to make it go really loud again but thats hard. the only times i can try and confront those thoughts is when i feel otherwise nice, if i got externally forced to have a fun day, hike with my papa, date day with my girlfriend, sometimes just got myself to make a nice meal and it helped, when u feel better its a little less scary and u can maybe try and think out of it a little better. also i think on those days youre generally more positively charged so u got more hope outlook. COOL. i think this is why some people do meditation. im not good at it so i dont really know but i think its a brave pasttime of tackling unpleasant ideas. i used to try and dope my way out of it with lsd cuz everytime i used it it kind of forced me to confront whatever trouble i had but ive forbad myself that cuz i didnt want to rely on it as crutch + it was just unpleasant to get hit over the head everytime. now i only do it when i feel good already (havent done it in half a year lol). sorry, drug tangent. also weed is synonymous with pillbugging 4 me.
otherwise, rituals.... mmmmm..... when therapists and whoevers say stuff like take daily walks daily exercise take daily shower i think all of those are like half about the direct benefits they give and half just about doing anything regularly. cuz it helps. during pillbug hours the point for me is kind of to have time pass as fast as possible so the timeframe to hurt is reduced which is counterproductive cuz if it flows u by rlly hard u cant really grasp onto anything to get off the ride easily. and its never going to come really easy theres no probable single action or event that is going to singlehandedly pull u out of the mire, no rapture, no healing vitamin, its always going to be slow and tedious and boring and stupid but a routine is a nice framework to start that. brushing ur teeth is nice. and when u do something daily the days start becoming more tangible again and u will be able to tell how many days ago tuesday was. maybe u can think abotu what factors motivate u and twist them to do your biddinggg. shame and dissapointment works really well for me if i tell someone i will have this done by then and i dont it usually overpowers the malaise or whatever other reason has been making me not do it prior. but this requires social bonds and i cant guarantee u have those. in summer i started doing therapy cuz in germany i need it for transgenderism and shes also a good beacon for that, if she says do something until next time we meet i dont want to dissapoint her. other than that, um idk, everyting else is just kind of part of that. take walks even if u dont want to think about things even if its scary. be brave like childrens book illustration of knight slaying dragon. and then maybe u get a princess kiss

grandmaster mastery; word count - 1014 words
"Here?"
His tutor was a slight man, bespectacled, and of a more intellectual persuasion than his title of knight might suggest – he looked over the sheaf of papers he was inspecting, glancing at the section of the map that Dimitri was gesturing to before he chuckled, shaking his head.
"No, your highness. I don't believe that's the most tactically sound area to launch an assault – you see these hills, here? The bottleneck would trap any troops that you might send in, even before you managed to set foot there yourself."
Dimitri rankled first at the idea that he would not be a leader that led, one who might have held back to the rearguard – or worse, to stay at the encampment – rather than the speartip of the vanguard, blitzing through the enemy forces.
What he objected to second was; "But isn't that to our advantage, as well? If it is a valley, such as this, then depending on the weather it might be easy to trigger an avalanche, or if there is snowmelt then perhaps a mudslide. They have trapped themselves by virtue of the battlefield itself."
Another chuckle, and a warm hand atop his head to ruffle his hair. "No, your highness," he repeated, his eyes creasing with the fondness of one speaking to a child overeager; "If you trigger an event like this, thena great deal of men would die, you see? You would not be able to control the tide of battle as effectively. Come, try again, I know you can get it if you apply yourself. Where should you direct your force for greatest gallantry?"
There were so many variations of that question that Dimitri had heard over time, growing greater in intention the greater he grew in strength, the greater his force, that outpaced his gallantry by leaps and bounds.
He the shining prince of the court, tarnished by the browning flecks of blood against his cheek as those opposite learned what it truly meant to face a Blaiddyd in close combat.
"Now who would like to make a suggestion to direct our forces, in this simulation? I know so few of you have seen the field, but this is a good experience to have – ah, your highness! Prince Dimitri, would you care to hazard a guess?"
He had been paying attention to the movements of the tokens on the map, and more, he had been paying attention to the collection of his classmates, those whose eyes might have glazed over at the tactical portion of the exercise, those who might have itched rather to join practical combat demonstrations rather than to keep their eyes forward, their wits about them.
It was equally dangerous, he thought, not to look alive when the times were quiet, were peaceful.
Dimitri cleared his throat, smiling sheepishly, noting the similarity of the map being used now to some territories in Faerghus – he had camped in those hills, he thought, had hiked through these paths, had marched along this road to lead to -
"I believe, if our encampment is here, then it most benefits our movements to move through these footpaths. Here - " he gestured, tapping a finger against a bank, fringed on all sides by dense forest, " - our forces might split, and strike the enemy in a pincer attack, coming from both sides here."
"Hm, almost." The professor tapped a finger to their chin, the knowing smile of someone who had asked a trick question curling their lips. "Look. The amount of forces that you have don't need to be split, against the enemy numbers. We don't need a shock-and-awe tactic here, they're already overwhelmed – if you went in like that, you're more like to kill them than you are to subdue."
Though he restrained himself from grimacing, Dimitri's eyes flicked down once more to the map, calculating the ratio of allies to enemies, accounting the terrain, feeling the mud under his boots and the feel of soft throats beneath his fingers, the sway of his lance in the air as he struck down those perfidious swine, taking advantage of his people when they were thought most weak, tried to wrest control of his kingdom while the rest of the country still mourned his father -
"It's all right, your highness," the professor continued, kindly, closing their tome to indicate the end of the lesson, clapping their hands for attention; "These skills are developed through time and experience. You will learn more of the battlefield as you set foot onto it. There's no shame in making mistakes in the classroom. Not even you, Prince Dimitri."
Stiffening at the call-out, Dimitri shook his head, murmured softly that he, of course, had so much more to learn, that they all did – but his eyes remained on the segments of map, smears of splotchy red beginning to seep through the tablecloth, to stain the boots of the figurines. Inclining his head, he shifted, turned to take his leave, clipping his hip and the back of his hand against the edge of the table, sending scores of men to their death.
"Ah!" Dimitri knelt immediately, moved to scoop the fallen, to cradle them gently in his hands before the professor hurried to his side, chuckling softly as they took the pieces back from him. "Please, my apologies professor, I must have..."
"Gotten distracted?" They teased, their eyes sparkling with good humor. "Worry not, your highness. You've a clear aptitude for this – don't beat yourself up for not seeing everything all at once." "Of course, I simply - " Gently, he reached a hand down, plucked the final token from where it had fallen inconveniently underfoot, its neck snapped. He sighed, depositing it into the outstretched hand, hearing the crunch of bone, the stifled gurgle of a scream against his palm, and rose, rubbing the back of his neck. "No matter. I am certain that next lesson, we will have the right of it, won't we?"
"That's the point of learning, your highness. Not to make the mistakes of the past."
" - ry last one of th- "
Strained, Dimitri smiled, nodded his agreement.

So I'm thinking about a dog in 2024 and I am absolutely in love with border collies.. I know thier energy is insane.. This is my question, do you walk everyday, of course you do, how far do you walk? What would I be in for? Do they bark often? I also enjoy black Labradors.. Your blog is quite amazing.. 🙏🐕
That’s wonderful you might be getting a dog next year! Whichever breed you decide on, I hope you find yourself a fantastic companion & enjoy many happy years of adventures together :) Thanks, I'm so glad you enjoy my blog!
I’ll answer your 2nd question 1st: barking. Yes!! Some are louder than others... but most border collies like the sound of their own voice. They'll likely be more vocal than a labrador!
Now... exercising. Border collies are energetic. They need to run regularly & are always eager for a walk! Like most breeds, BCs are happiest (& easiest to live with!) when they're able to combine using their brains, with getting physical excise.
Many pet dogs, even "high energy" breeds, are able to fulfil a lot of their need for mental/physical exercise by going on regular walks... Walks where the dog is most left to its own devices but has the opportunity to run & fully engage its senses, exploring & interacting with the environment. If the owner wants to get more involved & play with the dog too, then great! However, if the owner is tired after a stressful day, then they can mostly mentally switch-off & relax in nature, while their pet has fun & tires itself out!
Unfortunately (& I think it's part of why they have a rep for making hyper/crazy pets), border collies are often pretty terrible at exercising themselves on this sort of walk - where they have to occupy themselves independently!
BCs want owner participation!! They want YOU mentally switched-on & involved in their activities - exploring the wider world is only as interesting as you make it! If they aren't kept busy herding livestock for you, or doing sports like agility, then a BC needs you to come up with other forms of entertainment/exercise, which you can do together. It doesn't need to be complicated, or involve you doing lots of hard physical exertion - but keeping a pet BC well-exercised & contented will take some mental effort, on your part.
They'll often benefit far more from a slightly shorter outing, where your focus is on them & making a real effort to engage & interact - rather than a much longer walk, where you're present but disengaged & expecting the dog to exercise itself.
For some people, the prospect of a pet who demands lots of engagement & interaction, could be more work than an active dog who "just" needs regular long hikes! However, if you like the idea of having a HIGHLY interactive dog - who thrives on doing stuff with you, then BCs can make wonderful, engaging, fun companions.
This got way too long... below are examples of how I keep Flynn "busy" & help him burn off mental/physical energy outdoors! My health isn't very good - I can't go very far & never go fast but Flynn doesn't mind... as long as we're interacting.
All pics below were taken a couple of days ago, in 2 adjacent fields.
Left to occupy himself, Flynn could spend hours out in these wide-open spaces & he'd still be bouncy/bored later. Not because he's insanely energetic - no, the daft dog simply wouldn’t DO anything tiring! If I ignore Flynn, he accepts it & potters along the path... & that’s the problem! He's an athletic, intense dog & he just potters! He's happy but barely using up any energy!! If I want Flynn tired, I have to give him reasons to use his body & - more importantly - his mind!
I take the part of shepherd & sheep & get Flynn herding me across the fields. We play hide-&-seek in the woods. He does tricks & balances on things. I take photos as it's another chance to interact. We might play search games too - I make him wait, go hide a toy/treats, then send him out to find them.
A "game"(?) that's developed over time, is that Flynn loves to find & show me interesting stuff in the environment. Stuff he will not play with alone, but massively enjoys if I join in: piles of leaves, mole hills, tree stumps, good ground for digging! The more animated I am in reacting, the more enthused Flynn gets & the more he’ll exercise - racing way ahead to find the next fun thing & the next! He enjoys it if I show him stuff too!
Anyway, here he is in the 1st field, lying motionless but focused, as he waited for me to arrive & investigate the puddle he’d "discovered". It IS an excellent puddle.
Here he is, extremely excited at the prospect of supervising me stepping into the puddle & making a splash:
Flynn's holding a nasty soggy chunk of grass because this was such a thrilling moment, he felt he needed to have something to bite on, or he might be tempted to nip my boot!!
Here he is in the 2nd field, intent on stalking closer, because I’d crouched down & just me doing that is EXCITING:
I crouched to look for fossils. Didn’t spot any, so I grabbed random pebbles. Flynn finds it genuinely fascinating to watch me choose, pick up, examine & toss small rocks away… He'll eagerly "help" me do this, for as long as I'll let him. He darts after each stone, as I chuck it away, then quickly rush back to watch me choose another. Here he is, concentrating very hard indeed, on a vital Pebble Examination:
Despite not going far, Flynn was mentally (& physically) tired out by the time we got home! Clearly, he'd done important work: herding, hiding, puddle-finding & pebble-inspecting ;-) Once Flynn's exercised, he'll happily sleep for hours on end.

Unit 2 Blog Post
On page 49 of the textbook under the Health Values section, it is stated that “parks and cultural landscapes contribute to positive health conditions by providing places for physical exercise…yet the values of parks extend beyond the individual to a healthy society.”
The quote highlights the benefits of parks and cultural landscapes. They not only promote individual health by offering spaces for physical exercise, but also contribute to the well-being of society as a whole by bringing people together. Parks serve as more than just locations for outdoor activity, they help to create a sense of shared community health. When people spend time together, learning and growing, the society enriches.
My ideal role as an environmental interpreter would involve leading outdoor hikes or trails. Since I’m passionate about physical activity, I’d love to combine exercise with guiding others through nature. I try to make it to the gym around five times a week, play intramural soccer, and when I’m back home in Niagara Falls, my friends and I often work out by running the stairs at the gorge. It’s great cardio, and you get a gorgeous view right by the water. Because of my love for being active, I'd like to guide people through outdoor adventures, sharing information about the historical importance along the way. I’d even incorporate a more challenging option where we incorporate more physical activity like intermittent jogging along the trail. One place I’ve always wanted to explore is Kootenay National Park in British Columbia. After doing some research, it seems like the perfect spot. It has stunning views that remind me of Niagara Falls and a variety of trails with different difficulty levels.
My responsibilities would include becoming well-versed in the various trail areas, their historical significance, the layout of the trails, and the local wildlife. For instance, in Kootenay National Park, you might come across bears, elk, and deer while hiking. Along with my passion for physical activity, I have a deep appreciation for animals. It's crucial to remember that while hiking, we are entering their habitats. We must respect their space and understand how to safely and appropriately handle encounters with these animals.
Skills that I would need to effectively complete my role as an environmental interpreter on a trail would include; strong public speaking abilities. This is important so you can engage and educate visitors. Another skill would include a good foundation of biology and ecology of the environment I am in, to explain to the visitors what is around us. It is important to note it should be in a language where they would be able to interpret it, so I would avoid extremely scientific words. This could be categorized into teaching skills as breaking down complex concepts is essential for people of all ages to understand. Physical skills would include outdoor survival skills and navigational skills. Safety is the number one priority.
Me and my friends hiking at the gorge in Niagara Falls!
