Sunday I watched One For the Pot -- this is the Shaw Festival production from, I think, the late ‘eighties-- there was a revival at the Shaw in the mid-‘90s, but I seem to remember seeing this tv broadcast as a middle-schooler. Or rather, I caught the third act, was able to tape it on the family VCR, and watched it over and over.
Seeing the entire play for the first time, Im struck by how provisional the set-up actually is. Oh, Mr. Hardcastle wishing to find Billy Hickory Wood, the long-lost son of his late friend and business partner, and settle part of his fortune upon him, makes sense enough. And Billy having a separated-at-birth twin, Rupert Hickory Wood, raised with a posh accent and little else—well, that’s just the rules of comedy. But half the cast have no real reason to be doing what they’re doing. Jugg the butler cheerfully demands bribes for each assist; but Rupert seems to just get caught up in the inertia of mostly-innocent Billy and his scheming boss Charlie. And there’s no reason for Hardcastle’s arty daughter Amy to fall in love with Rupert at first sight, except that she does.
It helps if you regard it all as not so much a farce plot as a parody of one, with all the tropes amped up. Identical twins raised separately? Let’s throw in a third as the curtain comes down on Act II. There are walk-on characters, offstage characters, and a running gag where one or another of the party guests is always wandering by in search of the ballroom. There are so many plot threads some of them have to be thrown away as soon as they’re introduced: Clifton’s blackmail scheme is foiled almost without effort, because he's made the mistake of being a genuinely unpleasant villain in a story full of loveable comic rapscallions and they have the power of slapstick on their side. This is, after all, a play written in 1959 but set in a vaguely-Wodehousian, vaguely early-1930s country manor. Will somebody get doped up? tied up? forced to don drag in order to seduce a myopic family solicitor? Damn right they will.
By the third act (the part I saw as a kid) the whole thing has achieved escape velocity and everybody’s slamming doors too quickly for the audience to worry about whether any of it makes sense. We’re not watching it for sense, we’re watching for the pleasure of seeing the late Heath Lamberts be a human shell game, swapping out accents and ducking into doorways so he can pull a Texas switch with one of his body doubles. Logic is for murder mysteries.

Bb Leo only wants to be included! 🥺
@raven-m-3 wrote a drabble for this artwork (The Get Along Shirt) on AO3, you can read it here or by clicking below!
It took a village to put Leo Malfoy down for a nap on the weekends.
Hermione would warm the bottle while Draco read Good Night, Little Sea Otter; Draco would tuck Leo in as Hermione dimmed the lights, humming.
As for Lyra and Scorpius— well, they were to play together quietly until the necessary silencing and monitoring charms were in place.
Theoretically.
Draco was tiptoeing towards the door and Hermione was on the last verse of Hickory Dickory Dock when it happened.
“STOP! ”
“NO FAIR! NO F— ”
Leo shot upright as Draco cursed. “Da?”
Hermione groaned and tore from the room, sprinting towards the noise.
The scene in Scorpius’ room froze her. Scorpius was jumping up and down, screaming as Lyra scaled his bookshelf like a cat. Lyra’s eyes were narrowed in beady determination, her little arm stretching for something at the top— a book.
The shelf swayed, and Hermione’s chest seized. She scrambled for her wand just as Draco arrived with Leo, slamming into her from behind.
Hermione watched her wand fly through air as the shelf began toppling. Draco shouted something, but she could do nothing but stare in helpless horror as Lyra launched off the shelf like a flying squirrel, tackling Scorpius as it crashed to the ground.
There was a groan, and a shuffling. Hermione could hardly breathe as she stumbled forward, scanning Scorpius and Lyra for injuries.
She had barely disentangled whose blond head was whose when sound erupted again.
“Look what you —”
“Youw fault ! ”
They began wrangling over the book.
“Get off !”
“Give it back!”
Hermione’s nostrils flared as she turned to snatch her wand. “Accio .”
The book soared into her hands as Scorpius and Lyra scrambled to their feet, pointing at each other.
“Mum, she took my—”
“He wouldn’t shawe!”
“—can’t even read it! Last time she tore out half the pages—””
“He never shawes! I even said pwease, but he—”
“Enough,” Draco boomed behind her.
There was a ringing silence.
Hermione glared down at them as Draco appeared at her side with slow footsteps. He set a kicking Leo on the floor.
“What have we told you about sharing with your little sister, Scorpius?”
“But Dad, she—”
“No buts."
Scorpius hung his head. A look of glee crossed Lyra’s face — just quick enough to catch.
“And what have we told you about respecting your brother’s things, Lyra?” said Draco sharply.
Lyra’s expression soured, and she jutted her lip out.
“You know what?” Hermione glanced at Draco. “I think this calls for the Get Along Shirt.”
Scorpius groaned; Lyra stomped her foot. “Mum—”
“No whinging. This is the third fight of the day. We’ve tried reasoning, we’ve tried negotiating, we’ve tried separating. Nothing has worked.” She muttered a quick Summoning Charm, and a piece of fabric barreled through the doorway and into her hands.
She unfolded it and handed it to Draco, who coughed. “I’ll let you do the honors.”
Hermione set about fixing the broken shelves and summoning the scattered books while Draco wriggled their pouting, protesting children into the Get Along Shirt.
They had Hermione’s parents to thank for it. They’d picked it up at a Muggle shop one weekend while babysitting, and as loathe as Hermione was to admit it, her father had been right.
The thing worked.
Hermione continued to lecture them as she cleaned. “Siblings love each other. Siblings are a team. You’ll need to remember both if you want to get out of the Get Along Shirt.”
Her only replies were Draco’s coughing, and a sound vaguely resembling a hiss from Lyra.
Finally, Hermione finished repairing the book she’d pried out of Leo’s slobbering mouth earlier, and sent it soaring back to the shelf.
“Call me once you’re ready to play nicely together. Until then, you have to sit here quickly and think about what you’ve done.” She tucked her wand into her back pocket, glancing around the room for Leo.
But he was nowhere to be found.
She spun to Draco, but just when she opened her mouth to ask, her eyes dropped to her two grumpy eldest. There was an odd bulge in the Get Along Shirt, situated squarely between them. She followed the shape to the hemline, where two tiny feet were sticking out.
“Leo!” Hermione rushed over and quickly extricated him from the shirt. He let out a delighted squeal as she scooped him up. “Leo, that shirt isn’t for hide and seek!”
Draco’s coughing fit dissolved into full-on laughter.
"It's not funny, Draco!"
He tried to stop himself as Hermione glared daggers at him, which only made him laugh harder. Scorpius sulked while Lyra’s narrowed eyes darted between them, searching for weakness.
“Don’t make me put you in that shirt, Draco Malfoy.”
Hermione marched out of the room with Leo on her hip, silencing the corridor filled with Draco’s laughter behind her.

Beautiful Homes of Instagram: Rental Home
Hello, my wonderful friends! It’s really great to start this week with a new Beautiful Homes of Instagram and I know this one will inspire many readers.
Dani Ferretti of @GoldCoastCanvas is talented, brave and she is here to show us that we can make of our home a “home-sweet-home” wherever we are, regardless if it’s our forever home or a rental.
Please, make sure to follow her on Instagram (it will make her day!) and take notes on how she decorated her beautiful rental home!
Hey friends, Dani of @goldcoastcanvas here! I’m so humbled that Luciane reached out to me and it is truly an honor to be featured among such incredibly talented designers here on HomeBunch. I never would have imagined that our once plain-jane rental home would someday be worthy of this. I am feeling excited and grateful (and maybe a little bit like the new girl at the lunch table!).
My boyfriend Brad and I both grew up in South Florida and we are true barefoot, ocean-loving Florida kids at heart. We’ve both bounced around the country (and the globe) quite a bit since leaving home. We most recently moved to Austin, Texas where we’ll stay until it’s time to make the permanent move back home to Florida.
As you can imagine, being away from family and the ocean takes some adjusting to. This is why it was so important that our home in Austin, no matter how temporary, still have space for guests and still reflect that breezy lifestyle we love most. We chose a modern, new-construction home in South Austin not far from downtown. It was the perfect jumping off point for the activities we love most: hiking the greenbelt with our chocolate lab Soko, hitting up our favorite taco truck, or catching some waves at the surf park (yes, you can surf in the middle of Texas!)
I have always loved coastal decor, but it took me years to hone in on my true design aesthetic. Once I started focusing on how I wanted our home to feel rather than how I wanted it to look, everything clicked into place. For this house, I really wanted to create a home that felt like a sanctuary and that was easy to live in – where spaces felt organic and nothing was too precious. I think that is what makes coastal homes so appealing to me. They are meant for the happy messes of sandy feet and salty hair.
Beautiful Homes of Instagram: Rental Home
This is the talented homeowner, Dani, with her adorable dog. I am so proud of how she made of this rental a real home.
Home Location: Austin, Texas
Home Specs: Modern, 3 bed / 2.5 bath, 2000sqft
Entryway
I have always loved coastal decor, but it took me years to hone in on my true design aesthetic. Once I started focusing on how I wanted our home to feel rather than how I wanted it to look, everything clicked into place.

Rug: World Market – similar here.
Flooring
Flooring: 5” Hickory Celebration in Honey Spice by Shaw Flooring.

Faux Stems: Pottery Barn.
Vase: Target (no longer available) – Others: here & here.
Similar Baskets: here, here & here.
Living Room
I continued the neutral palette into the living room so as not to overwhelm the open space. I grounded it with an amazing collection of pillows from my favorite shops and an earthy, warm coffee table that everyone can gather around. We are just weeks away from getting a brand new custom sofa. I wish it had come in time for pictures but I’ll definitely be sharing it on my feed when it does arrive – so stay tuned!
Beautiful Sectionals: here, here (on sale), here & here.

Coffee Table
Coffee Table: Eclectic Goods – similar here, here & here.
Kitchen
The thing that sold me most on this house was the kitchen. As serial renters, we were used to dealing with suboptimal cooking spaces (our kitchen in our San Francisco apartment had about two feet of counter space!) This one felt like a long-awaited luxury to us. I softened the modern finishes with more organic selections like the vintage-inspired rug, aged cutting boards and handmade ceramic dishware.

Dining Area
Our dining room is small but I knew we needed a sizable table for big dinner gatherings. To make it work, I opted for benches that could be pushed under the table when not in use. I love how it created a cozy little nook on the wall side. The photos above the table are actually sketches of the different homes we’ve made memories in: Brad’s apartment in Sydney, the St. Louis bungalow my father grew up in and the 120 year old Victorian we lived in in San Francisco.

Upstairs, we have an open loft area that looks out over our living room. I work from home full-time and knew immediately that this would make a great office because it’s a defined space that still feels open to the rest of the house.
Rug
DIY
I wanted to do something unique with the alcove so we opted for some large, diy floating shelves and a gallery wall featuring some of our favorite pieces.
Desk: World Market – Also seen on these “Beautiful Homes of Instagram”: here & here.

While I stuck with earthy neutrals, I used this space as an opportunity to be a little more playful with color and pattern.

Button Pillow: West Elm – similar here.
Wide Mat Gallery Frame over armchair: Pottery Barn.
Guest Bedroom
Down the hall is our guest bedroom. I reupholstered an existing bed to give it a clean linen look like the one in our own room. This room really challenged me to flex my creative muscles and I love the unexpected combination of old and new. The aged metals, rugged handmade nightstands and modern decor accents all come together to create a space that I hope any guest can appreciate.
Sconces: Visual Comfort – Others: here, here, here & here.

Wall Paint Color
Hardware: Amerock Bar Pulls in Sterling Nickel.
Prints by Marcelle Calder.
Counters: Cultured marble.
Faucets: Moen.
Master Bedroom
I took my time designing our master bedroom and it is my absolute favorite room in the house. I wanted to keep this room clean and simple, while still giving it enough layers to feel cozy. I stuck with two main colors – a blue/grey and cream – and brought things to life with lots of different textures. From the driftwood nightstands to the chunky cotton quilt to the faded rug, everything in this room is meant to feel a bit organic and weathered, yet still refined.
Paint Color & Bedding
Wall Color: Silver Drop by Behr.
Sunset Painting: McGee & Co.
Quilt: West Elm (I highly recommend bedding by West Elm).
Striped Bed Blanket in Gray: Evangeline Linens Pinstripe Blanket 100% Cotton – similar here & here.

Nightstands are from Pottery Barn.
Nightstand Decor
Basket Tray (with books): here.

In our master bathroom, the contrast of the dark tiling and the white finishes adds a touch of drama. I kept decor simple with some minimalist palm prints and a faded vintage-inspired runner.

Backyard
Having usable outdoor space was really important to us. However, when we moved in, our backyard was just a plain patch of grass. Since we’re renting, we worked with our landlord to come up with an affordable solution. With my dad’s help, we built this raised gravel patio ourselves!
Bistro Set: Ikea.
Outdoor Furniture
Outdoor Sectional: No longer available – Others: here, here, here, here, here, here & here.
Umbrella: here – similar.
Stool / Side Table: Safavieh.
Home-Sweet-Home
The new raised gravel patio ended up being a hit in the neighborhood and inevitably, all of our gatherings end up out here. I’m so glad we went for it! It serves as a reminder that no matter where you’re living at the moment, it’s always worth a little investment to make it feel like home. You don’t have to wait for your dream house!

Artemis (Blue Note, 2020)
Renee Rosnes: piano; Melissa Aldana: tenor saxophone; Anat Cohen: clarinet, bass clarinet; Ingrid Jensen: trumpet; Noriko Ueda: bass; Allison Miller: drums; Cecile McLorin Salvant: vocals.
The super group can be a mixed blessing. In rock, The Band thankfully equaled the sum of its parts, in classical there was the Three Tenors, in jazz throughout the 90's and early to mid 00's all star groups are pretty much the norm for record dates and festival gatherings. At their best, the synergy is like a band who has been playing for years, while when these combinations don't work, it's usually when the artists don't concede to a greater whole, or too much time has passed. Artemis, the new super group consisting of Blue Note veteran (recording her own leader dates in the late 80's and early 90's) Renee Rosnes on piano, Melissa Aldana on tenor saxophone, Anat Cohen on clarinet, Ingrid Jensen on trumpet, bassist Noriko Ueda, drummer Allison Miller and vocalist Cecile McLorin Salvant thankfully lives up to the all star status and really demonstrates it can be a real band, moving forward.
Before looking at some of the music on this album, having an all female super group on Blue Note warrants a brief history of women on the label and why this is so important. In the so called “classic” era of Blue Note that runs from 1954-1970, there have only been three women who lead leader dates. Jutta Hipp, the German pianist lead At The Hickory House during the label's watershed year of 1956 (which saw Jimmy Smith's debut that changed the landscape forever, the unique piano of Herbie Nichols, and Horace Silver's smash “Senor Blues”) the rarely recorded singer Dodo Greene released My Hour of Need in 1962, and legendary vocalist Sheila Jordan recorded her debut, the cult classic Portrait Of Sheila the following year. In the United Artist era that ran through Horace Silver Plays The Music Of The Spheres, the final Blue Note release until the label's resurrection under EMI Manhattan in the mid 80's, the label had success with flautist Bobbi Humphrey and vocalist Marlena Shaw. However, it was not until 2002 with the release of Norah Jones' Come Away With Me that female artists on Blue Note became huge. With that release, Jones single handedly revitalized the label once more, because it was and is the biggest selling Blue Note in history, the label was also able to begin a massive reissue campaign that put long out of print items back into circulation in their RVG and Connoisseur series lines. Within the past few years, the signing of Kandace Springs has also bolstered the female presence to a large degree.
Artemis brings to mind past ensembles like Super Blue, the Blue Note All Stars, and Out Of The Blue in the post bop aim of the project. Like the Blue Note All Stars' Our Point Of View rather than being a group of up and coming players, it's a group of established stars, veterans and leaders. Their performance at the Newport Jazz Festival impressed label president Don Was and prompted him to sign them, and this is their first offering. There is truly an egalitarian group aesthetic here, no one dominates the ensembles, and through the varied front line colors, the compositions take on a large timbre palette. Alison Miller's “Goddess Of The Hunt” has some wonderful use of unison lines employing Cohen's bass clarinet and Ueda's acoustic bass after bass and piano play the same figure, replaced by Rosnes' piano. The churning chord progression used for the melody is the bed for Aldana's scalding tenor sax solo with notable use of altissimo register. Rosnes' follows with her signature clarity and depth of ideas, and Jensen's trumpet to soar blending a Freddie Hubbard bravura with the wide intervallic leaps of Woody Shaw. Cohen takes a cue from the last phrase of Jensen for a solo without excess before the ensemble returns. The melancholy “Frida”, written by Aldana, perfectly captures the personality of the pioneering painter, with strong spots for the saxophonist and Rosnes.
Vocalist Cecile McLorin Salvant shows a wide stylistic range appearing on two selections, Stevie Wonder's “If It's Magic”, and the admittedly quite dated lyrics of “Cry, Buttercup Cry”, a 1948 hit for Maxine Sullivan. In both cases, McLorin Salvant's warm, expressive voice transforms the material. Cohen's sensual “Nocturno” features stellar turns for her clarinet, and especially Noriko Ueda's melodic bass. The album closes with a slinky, funky, off the beaten path version of Lee Morgan's “Sidewinder” that in an effort to forge it's own identity wisely dispenses with the famous Bob Cranshaw pick up in the bass line, and a deeper in the cut feeling.
Sound:
Recorded by James Farber and mastered by Mark Wilder, who regularly produce outstanding work, Artemis leaves a bit to be desired in the sound department. The mix seems quite narrow, with clarinet and tenor on the right and trumpet towards center left, but for the huge sound they create the sound stage is not as deep and wide as it could be. On “Goddess Of The Hunt” and “Frida” it sounds as if there are multiple instances of peak distortion on Aldana's tenor sax and Cohen's clarinet. A positive spot though is Ingrid Jensen's Harmon muted trumpet has a bright sparkle. While the sound is not brick walled, it is not the equal of the work Wilder has done on the catalogs of Miles, Monk, and CTI Records to name a few. The music lacks the dynamic range and punch of other fantastic work he has done. Granted, this is how the artists wanted things to sound but compared to say, the recent Immanuel Wilkins Omega a release that has fantastic sound and dynamics, it's underwhelming.
Concluding thoughts:
Artemis is an overall impressive debut by a wonderful all star band that focuses on the sum of it's parts. A group such as this could easily give in to ego and meaningless displays of fireworks, the emphasis is on tight, varied compositional frameworks with concise solos from players with distinct individual voices. Women have been breaking much needed ground in the instrumental realm, and this is a group with a chemistry that could gain serious mileage, with several tunes that could be staples in the modern jazz repertoire.

Authors Note: I am honestly running out of ideas on what to write about for Shawn, I do not know what scenarios you guys would like to read. But, here is Daddy!Shawn, it is kinda cute.
Shawn Master List found HERE
I am not sure who asked me to tag them when I post tea-party Shawn, I am starting to think it was all a dream bc everybody is telling me it wasn’t them. So, I am just going to give a small shout out. Here are some lovelies that have allowed me to blow their messages up with things.
@ihaveabadreputation @hemmingshood12 @bleedingonedirection @dailymendes01 @redcalvinsharry @honest-for-mendes
Since the moment he casted his eyes on her Zinnwaldite Brown eyes, he was hooked— there was nothing else in the world more important than the baby girl swaddled in his arms—her pastel pink blanket wrapped around her tiny little body.
From the moment Valerie Anne arrived in the world on December 13th, weighing 7lbs, he did everything possible to keep her happy, from driving around at three in the morning to get her to sleep for a few hours, to cradling her on his chest late at night while she stays wide-eyed and cooing.
It’s no surprise when you find the two of them taking naps, cuddled up on the couch, or in the king size bed, he is always making sure to spend as much time as possible with his three-year-old, the word no never being able to fall from his lips.
Not when it comes to the hickory eyes of hers, that shine up at him on a daily basis.
When you step into the peaceful house, you assume the two of them are taking a nap somewhere, cuddled together, your little girl safely secure in her Daddy’s arms.
It’s when you overhear soft giggles coming from upstairs that you become curious as to what the two of them are up to.
You climb the stairs with a smile, the chuckles getting heavier, Shawn’s own laughs echoing lightly.
You unobtrusively make your way towards her bedroom, peeking your head into the room to see what is causing the snickers. The moment you observe your husband and little girl sitting on the floor, surrounded by teddy bears and the small tea-set, your heart flutters with joy.
The tea party is her favourite pass time, she would spend hours playing tea-party with you if you’d allow her to.
There have been so many times when Shawn has been on a tour and you have spent hours playing tea-party, just to keep her calm and not set on wanting to call daddy every five minutes.
“Mr.Snuggles, it’s very nice tea.” Shawn lightly glides his hand over one of the numerous teddy bears head.
Him playing tea party is something you’ve never seen, generally, it’s you, but today— today he seems to be doing a great job.
He has done many things with his little girl, painting nails. playing with her hair, allowing her to paint his nails and brush his hair in return. He is always hands on, teaching her new things, playing new games with her, doing anything she wants— His main focus being her happiness — There is nothing he wouldn’t do for her, he’d walk to the ends of the Earth just for his little girl. She is his pride and joy, everything he could have requested of you to give him.
“Daddy—” Your little girl shakes her head, pressing her cup down, “That is Mr Rufus, Mr.Snuggles is here.” She gestures towards the teddy bear beside her.
Shawn playfully gasps, “I am so sorry, accept my apologies.” He grins, his eyes finally glancing over to take notice of you watching the crew. “Hey Mrs.Mendes, care to join?” He smiles towards you, already petting the spare space beside him, “Of course, if that is okay with everyone at the tea-party.” He views around towards the circle of bears.
You nod and take the empty space by your husband, smiling over at Valerie, “Hey princess, how’s tea-party with Daddy?”
“Good, Mr Rufus likes Daddy, we think he should always play,” Valerie responds, Shawn lifting his cup and taking a sip,
“Oh no, am I being kicked out of the tea-party group?” You gasp,
“No~” Your little girl shakes her head, her soft wavy hair bouncing with her motions. “We just want Daddy to play more.”
“Daddy will play more now that he is back.” Shawn pipes in, gently wrapping an arm around you, “Should we show Mummy what we learnt today?” Shawn looks towards his pride and joy, a smile widening across his lips. Valerie instantly nods, already standing to her feet before anything else can be said.
You stand to your feet, your little girl taking your hand and pulling you towards the room that is solely Shawn, full of all his music possessions, awards, records, and guitars. “Shawn?” You question, glancing over your shoulder to look at him behind you as he walks the hallway.
“It’s cool.” He smiles, your little girl tugging you into his territory, Shawn stepping in right behind you. “Valerie, which one are we using?” Shawn asks, Valerie pointing towards the guitar that Shawn takes on tour with him. He sits down on the floor, Valerie moving to sit in his lap before he carefully places the guitar over her little body, resting in her lap.
“Like Daddy showed you, one hand here, and one here, sweetie.” Shawn grins as he gently presses Valerie’s hands to position themselves on the guitar. “There we go, do you remember what to do?” He whispers, carefully showing her with his hand, his thumb gliding over the strings. She nods, her gorgeous eyes peering up at you.
“You ready, Mummy?”
You nod, grinning as her small fingers perform a small melody, Shawn backing her a little bit, but leaving most of it for her to express.
You had always hoped she received Shaw n’s musical talent and trait, you think you actually hoped for it more than what Shawn did. Shawn used to always say, “I don’t care if she isn’t musically talented, I don’t care if she would rather play Hockey or baseball, I just want a happy little girl. But, if she loves music, it would be great.”
You watch in awe, your smile resembling a proud mother as your little girl cheerfully plays a few chords, the quality being music to your ears.
You never really thought the moment Valerie executed a few chords that she would cause tears to well up in your eyes.
“Mummy, don’t cry.” Valerie instantly stops her chords, Shawn’s eyes pulling away from Valeria and the guitar, “Mummy, it okay.” She wiggles away from Shawn and the guitar, hurrying towards you.
You pick her up, her arms immediately wrapping around your neck.
“Aww, Val, they are happy tears.” You assure her, smiling over at Shawn as he settles his guitar back in its spot before making his way towards you.
“Think we might have another artist on our hands. She learnt pretty quick.” He carefully rubs his thumb over your cheeks, wiping away the tears.
You nod, appreciating the hugs from Valerie, Shawn caressing a few delightful kisses on your cheek.
“Valerie, you gotta kiss Mummy too, she loves big sloppy kisses.” Shawn snickers, encouraging Valerie to attack you with her adoringly sweet kisses, the kisses she undoubtedly acquired from her Father.

SMART Carpet and Flooring Advises: Make a Great First Impression With New Flooring for the Foyer
MANASQUAN, N.J., June 10, 2019 – SMART Carpet and Flooring (https://www.smartcarpet.com/foyer-flooring) believes that first impressions start with the foyer — that entryway into any well-appointed home. With a wide variety of tiles, vinyl and luxury hardwoods to choose from, all conveniently displayed in a special mobile showroom, homeowners are welcome to call SMART Carpet and Flooring to help make the perfect choice for a dream renovation.
Foyers can be an especially challenging area to renovate since most homeowners are never quite sure which flooring type to choose. But there are a few key points to keep in mind, no matter which flooring is under consideration. An extremely active space, the foyer receives a lot of foot traffic — so it has to be sturdy. But the foyer must also remain beautiful as well. This is the first place a guest sees whenever visiting a home, and first impressions are irreversible.
SMART Carpet and Flooring has two recommendations for the foyer: Journey Tile from Shaw Floors, or Monte Carlo Engineered Hardwood by Anderson.
Journey Tile
Modern tiles are warmer underfoot than they appear, can be installed in one day, and best of all: modern grouts are acrylic — so they are highly stain-resistant and never crack or flake. Tile floors are also far more affordable than in the past. SMART Carpet and Flooring offers Journey Tile, with features including:
Beautiful variety: Tiles are available in an array of stone, wood, porcelain, ceramic and other natural patterns. They can be installed with or without grout and grout lines.
Waterproof and durable: Journey Tiles are completely waterproof, stand up under heavy foot traffic and last a very long time (20–30 years on average). They will remain elegant for decades, and are backed by warrantee.
Easy to maintain: Tiles are incredibly easy to work with. Spills are cleaned with a simple wipe-up or mop, and the tile is hardy and stain resistant.
Versatile: Although meant to last for decades, tiles are easily installed, and can just as easily be changed out to suit new décor choices in the future.
Monte Carlo Engineered Hardwood
Hardwoods are the kings of classic grace and style. And the latest engineered Monte Carlo hardwood planks offer exotic-wood elegance without the traditional price tag. Some major Monte Carlo plank features include:
Durable and bold: Planks are crafted from solid Hickory, with a wide range of distinctive wood looks. From casual to modern, outdoorsy or rustic, the planks are inspired by the French Riviera. Styles include French Stone and Cape Grace, as well as dark browns like Rainier and Monaco.
Handcrafted: Each plank is hand-scraped, stained and distressed to give a dramatic effect, with a glossy beautiful finish. Engineered hardwood is also easy to clean or maintain, and is extremely water resistant.
Guaranteed: The flooring is backed by a 50-Year Residential Finish Warranty, for a completely worry-free buying experience.
SMART Carpet and Flooring has access to an exhaustive array of flooring choices to suit any flooring job or renovation. With literally thousands of carpet, wood, tile and vinyl brands to choose from, homeowners are welcome to call for help anytime from the SMART Carpet and Flooring experts.
