Rook is… almost normal.

He is the master of hiding any sort of negative emotion- and might be so good at it that he doesn't even realize it. Yes, he indeed will know how he feels about this all, but does he care about expressing negatives? No, he doesn't.

Cater for sure does not show it- but he’s quite upset with this.

Basically in his mind, he already feels you like him, so it’s no wonder why he is feeling dejected. But- he also isn’t used to having such feelings for someone, and it all makes him second-guess things.

Even if you had no- whatsoever, romantic intention with him, he’ll over-read your kindness and think that you like him. Not ever being rational- and I mean, never.

Though as much as he wants to- he doesn’t ever want to use any sort of realism or even anything to clarify that he is only dreaming. Only because it just takes his feelings and confidence away from him.

His mind takes him to a more negative place and makes him believe- or think negatively. Then shortly he would begin to feel bad about ‘dreaming’, of your ‘very obvious’ feelings for him.

Even though Cater is a typically cherry person on the exterior, I can very much envision him almost losing his cool. He is practically even death glaring at the guy you seem to be looking at.

Basically what I’m trying to say… Cater is not the type to be as protective on the outside, but he is extremely down to throw hands with this student.

"Look at me," Suguru said sternly, using his assertive voice.

Pouting, you sighed like a child caught red-handed and slowly turned to face him, avoiding eye contact. "What?"

"Look," Suguru repeated, still using his stern voice. He reached out, gently grabbing your chin, forcing you to meet his gaze. Suguru gave you a smirk before leaning back. "So... come on. What's been troubling you?"

"It's really nothing, but if you're so itching to know..." You sighed again, allowing yourself to get comfortable on his bed, even going as far as resting your head on his lap before opening up. "I was just thinking about stuff while I was in my dorm room, and one thing led to another. Well... I found myself overthinking stuff again. Like, I love the idea and potential of love, but when it comes to actually being in love with someone and staying in love with them... I don't see it as being dramatic at all. Your feelings are entirely valid, and it's not your fault for having these thoughts, given your experiences." He chuckled softly and patted your head. "But I also know you're someone capable of both. You're a good person, and I'm sure you know how to love."

You chuckled humorlessly, "You're just saying that, Suguru. But thank you; I appreciate the effort." You laid down more comfortably on his lap, finding solace in his warmth. "Talking about this without drinks is so funny and embarrassing. I never thought I'd spew stuff like this sober."

What was the deal with dovi and his two teammates he did NOT get along with? Personal dislike or what?

so I've rattled off the actual details of the dovi/jorge feud here and this post gives great insight for dovi/iannone. the thing about dovi is that it's kind of funny that it happened twice to him of all people, you know? and the fact that there's (to my knowledge) been fuck all reconciliation? like I said here:

which I think is probably like... my general explanation. it's a) circumstance and b) abysmal interpersonal chemistry. in both cases, you've met the general criteria for intra-team issues:

I should have added that the first criterion is a little more complex than that, because it's also about how competitive the bike is versus expectations. if you thought you were going to be fighting for a title and you're not because the bike is shit, then that's not really the time and place to be starting feuds. but by 2015 ducati was very much on the way up again: for a hot moment early that year it looked like dovi might be a genuine title threat in that year and in 2016 they got their first win since 2010. so, suddenly you've got a manufacturer that's reevaluating its current line up and deciding they want a bigger name to lead the actual title charge... which is where you get the stakes from in both those feuds. dovi/iannone was driven in large part by 'which one of us will get fired' and dovi/lorenzo had the tension of 'this is not the challenger ducati was expecting'. so now you are competing over something a little more substantial... and that makes the difference between 'ah whatever I can paper over these interpersonal tensions' and 'you know what fuck this guy'

the interpersonal chemistry question is obviously more opaque, and again you have to say dovi just got a little unlucky in that regard. from how he talks in his autobiography, it seems like the first feud was just a bit of a radical mismatch of personalities. in iannone, dovi sees someone who is arrogant, obsessed with image and too concerned with beating dovi. it's not exactly a surprise that dovi was severely displeased when he thought he would be dropped for iannone. with jorge... well, you can really see how the competitiveness comes in here, right - the relationship was broadly cordial in 2017 when jorge was in the wilderness and then swiftly deteriorated when he actually got to grips with the bike

also, clearly jorge had some slightly weird stuff going on with dovi... idk, some of the passages read like he thought dovi kinda looked down on him? constantly talking about how clever dovi is, how dovi knows what he's doing... the thing about jorge is that he had a lot of stuff going on as a young man and he was overthinking a lot of things... and some of those things were definitely his rivals... and that did affect several of those relationships for quite a few years. then there's the stuff where jorge repeatedly says how much effort he put into that relationship, celebrating dovi's results in 2017, dovi not appreciating it... I mean, maybe? I can imagine dovi being extremely unmoved by this lol, and certainly not feeling like it means jorge has any credit in the bank the following year. he doesn't like jorge, which is fine... but then occasionally he says something in the press with just enough ambiguity that it allows jorge to go absolutely ape shit and it spirals from there. just a bad combination, really. jorge thought he'd be number one, dovi was very possessive of that project and not willing to cede the lead without one hell of a fight... and they have history and they're both not really particularly willing to give each other the benefit of the doubt. not great

as much as I obviously wasn't being serious calling dovi an awful teammate, he's also not that conflict-averse. he's always been opinionated, reasonably willing to get into arguments (including with the ducati higher ups) and also clearly willing to judge his fellow riders, often quite harshly. he's perhaps not particularly inclined to change his mind either once he's made it up... definitely a character, and perhaps not the type who's really interested in reevaluating relationships post-retirement. jorge on his part has mended quite a few bridges, but it really is just with his fellow aliens - you'll note he's repeatedly incredibly rude about dovi's track record and lack of premier class titles. jorge in general can have a bit of a habit of 'punching down' in a way you won't really get from the other aliens. his nostalgia-inflected warmth towards other riders again really does seem pretty limited to just the aliens, which is how you get him doing instagram throwbacks to motegi 2010 (bonkers lol) and all this *gestures* dani stuff... but with him and dovi, neither of them have really made an effort, and I doubt they will. dovi's the type of guy who wants to see himself as honest and straightforward with these things, so no forcing reconciliation after the fact I reckon. what's wrong with a couple of burnt bridges, right

Sleep headcanon questions go!! Any of yours, AU or OC, not restricted to skeletons (but I'll admit the lanky bone boy is my first thought.)

Who does the 'lays down and falls asleep quickly'? Who takes half an eternity to get comfy, but once they are, they sleep easily? Who can only sleep if one specific thing is where it should be (eg a favorite stuffy or blanket, the light in the hall being on)? Who fights the insomnia by counting things, even as they reach the thousands or tens of thousands? Who needs absolute silence? Who can't sleep without noise, music or white noise? Who moves so much in their sleep that it should count for gymnastics? Who takes up the most space for their size? Who takes up the least space for their size? Who has a pre-bed ritual (warm tea or milk, a bath or some other) that gets them in the right headspace for bed? Who uses the bed as just another spot to sit, doing things like scrolling on their phone, or maybe hobbies like knitting/crochet? Who pretended to be asleep as a kid when they were checked on? Who reads in bed?

I'll try not to answer for too many for now, but if you don't mind I might keep the questions to answer for some others, too, sometime!

With the skeletons boys, usually the lower HP lot, so non-swapped Sanses and Swapped Papyri, though the Papyri usually have to be pretty exhausted. Unfortunately they also tend to just lie awake sometimes, no matter how tired they feel, but sometimes! Sleep comes quickly

Who takes half an eternity to get comfy, but once they are, they sleep easily?

Usually Rus, and a handful of other non-swapped Papyri, but usually only the non-Fell ones also. Also does not mean he stays asleep for very long. And definitely most Alphyses, regardless of what verse (she also tends to stir and shift a lot, with the exception of swapfell Alphys who sleeps like lead lol).

Who can only sleep if one specific thing is where it should be (eg a favorite stuffy or blanket, the light in the hall being on)?

Hmmm I'm gunna be a little difficult with this one. It's not so much One Specific Thing as like...vibe. And it's oddly something shared between non-swapped Fell Papyri and non-Fell swapped Papyri. If they're accustomed to a specific light being on, or sleeping on a specific pillow, or hearing a specific noise, any change in that environment can cause significant restlessness. Or in Edge's specific case it's his cat <3 He needs to know they're in his room (underground) before he can actually sleep.

Who fights the insomnia by counting things, even as they reach the thousands or tens of thousands?

I'd say any non-Fell swap Papyrus probably. The first one to jump to mind was Stretch, he’s a counter in general, of steps, hand movements when washing his hands, rotations while stirring a pot, etc etc, I'd imagine it's something mostly shared with his most similar alternates like Uno and Clover.

Who needs absolute silence?

Sooort of Haze? Haze and Patch both but it's tricky, they're both paranoid, but sleeping in quiet environments is like, the only way to get actually good sleep. But it can also trigger significant anxiety. So it's tough finding the right balance. :*(

Who can't sleep without noise, music or white noise?

Probably mostly the Papyri with the deepest psychological issues. I know that's a weird qualifier, but the way I hc any Papyrus is that they have chronic overthinker condition, which is exponentially more stressful for those that have the most repressed stuff just lingering around the corners in the hallways of their minds.

Ghost and Dusk, maybe Lace? I'd imagine total silence would be deeply unsettling for them, and really any Papyrus if they were just in a particularly stressed way.

Who moves so much in their sleep that it should count for gymnastics?

Almost exclusively the Swapped Fell Sanses. And that's mostly because they're extremely light sleepers, so they're constantly shifting and seeking new comfortable positions to snatch another little chunk of sleep before they do it again.

On the rare occasion non-Fell or Swapped Papyri can be restless, but that's pretty rare, because that usually winds up waking them and then they just get up!

Who takes up the most space for their size?

Stretch. Oh my god. He’s so scrawny but he manages to take up the entirety of whatever he’s fallen asleep on. It's frankly kind of impressive.

Who takes up the least space for their size?

Dusk I guess? For how massive he is, he tends to kinda curl up a bit, and given how thin he is, it's probably surprising how little space an almost 12ft tall skeleton can cover.

Who has a pre-bed ritual (warm tea or milk, a bath or some other) that gets them in the right headspace for bed?

Just about every Papyrus and most of the swapped Sanses! Most of the Papyri are lowkey kinda five year olds about going to bed on purpose, they put it off as much as possible (or just fall asleep whenever wherever in the Swapped Papyri's cases). But! If they know they really kinda need to, or someone else manages to strongarm them into it, it helps to do Unwinding Things, be it making tea, reading, playing video games; it helps, which is important for a group of insomniacs that bad.

The swap Sanses just generally like routine overall, so they usually have rituals for stuff they need to do daily anyways!

Who uses the bed as just another spot to sit, doing things like scrolling on their phone, or maybe hobbies like knitting/crochet?

Absolutely all of them barring Haze, Gold, and Cerulean. They are loungers, the lot of them.

Who pretended to be asleep as a kid when they were checked on?

Mostly the Sanses. The vast majority of their Caretakers weren't very strict with actually Sleeping, so the Papyri either never really had to pretend, so they didn't, or they were already out cold. The Sanses though, they've always had the most anxiety around Being Perceived, even the ones with good relationships with their caretaker. Weird, huh?

Who reads in bed?

I'd say probably a pretty random assortment of guys from all across the board! There's also a few, like Copper or Anthias, who wouldn't consider what they do reading because they're reading articles about like, science or news on their phones, but they still are reading.

The most consistent readers though are probably Edge, Sky, Eclipse, and Dusk, with Eclipse and Dusk actually kinda going together here because Clips will regularly read to Dusk since he has wonky eyesight that makes reading himself difficult at times.

Hey sweetie! I actually went through a similar thing with my parents when I was 15, it didn't leave me fearing I would be cheated on, however my dads absent presence from being in my life but not fully involved left me feeling like I was never enough. I'll condense down my healing, and hopefully it can help you fast track what you are dealing with now so you can move on with your life without this painful anchor. 1] Therapy. I literally could not see, or make sense of my destructive habits and patterns until I did Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. This is not a therapy that goes on for years, it's usually around 8-12 weeks and really helps target your anxious behaviours especially in relationships. 2] I did an Akashic record healing, which revealed to me the traumas I had carried from past lives and I worked with the Akashic healer to remove the traumas. Hands down this completely changed my life. This trauma you have could be felt much deeply because it could be something from a past life. I don't know if you believe in that stuff, but if you do it's definitely worth investigating. 3] I learnt to understand my needs. What do I need? Is this a man who can meet my needs? Are you choosing men that reassure you, or are you choosing men that reinforce your insecurities? Have you identified what you need in a relationship, from a man? If not, this is something to spend some time figuring out. 4] I let go of the struggle story. The story of not feeling enough, not trusting, not feeling wanted. This meant, I stopped gossiping with friends about by dating life which helped so much because speaking about said guy constantly was draining, especially when things would inevitably go south. The more you speak on your struggle, the more you are speaking your struggle into your future. As soon as I stopped gossiping about my failing dating life, some shifts started to happen. I spoke to my therapist, or one trusted friend. But other than that, I learnt that speaking on the bad news is not how I thrive in this life. 5] I deepened my relationship with God. This removed 99.9% of the men I was entertaining. I chose to see God as my father, and my dad as my earthly father, someone who is human, makes mistakes and it really softened my hurt and pain towards my dad. Also my relationship with God, helped me filter out the men I was entertaining. Was I choosing men that appeared good on paper, or men who shared the same values as me? And with that answer, there was a shift. 6] I worked on forgiveness. This was HUGE. I wrote a list of every single person who hurt me, i would recommend starting with your dad, and anyone else at the top of the list and write down what happened, what you felt and visualise forgiving yourself and forgiving those involved. This is a very healing process, it wasn't a quick thing. But if you can focus on forgiveness in your healing you'll be clearing out the roots of this issue completely. I hope these points resonated xoxox

oh i already have the entire situation planned out how i want it, with all its nuances, and i fully agree that he might give genuine advice and/or mislead for his own amusement in that scenario, lol,,, speaking of, i literally think he’s the type of person to LOVE giving unsolicited advice just in general too. and he is a major asshole, and he loves hearing himself talk, but. regardless he does have a soft spot for sheik even if he does not express it in very constructive ways, and i think some stuff he tends to do when he genuinely cares for someone is 1) needle them constantly, for fun, to the point where they can’t stand him, and 2) try to help them thru their difficulties by…projecting his own philosophies/viewpoints/pieces of advice onto them. which is usually extremely unhelpful and just irritating, but occasionally it does actually help. and it just so happens that sheik is the kind of person who needs to be told every once in a while stuff like “maybe try not to overthink everything to the point of stagnation or insanity,” and “try thinking of fate as a thing you’re meant to control, and not as a maze that you’re trapped in.” honestly a lot of good advice, peppered among the bullshit advice and the questionable advice

to give you a tiny bit of an idea about my personality, i'm an INFJ 9w1. I tend to be extremely shy, and closed off from people when it comes to talking about myself, as my main focus is on the people themselves and the world around me in general. I like to maintain peace and quiet and help the others around me - but also escape in other worlds through books, video games or fiction.

I'm very emotionally sensitive. I am also prone to overthinking and getting really anxious. It's easy to make me embarrassed too!

generally I don't bother people with my problems because I'd feel really selfish, but I am always willing to help those in need - hell people even come to me for advice, comfort or just to be heard. I kind of tend to neglect myself sometimes, when it comes to my physical energy or emotional well-being.

being social isn't very easy for me and I run out of energy quickly.

I have only a few friends. when I'm around them I tend to have a very positive and pleasant disposition! I actually tend to be a little louder than I normally am, and I've been told that it brings people at ease. also my optimism is seemingly infectious, or so I've been told. the thing is that I'm very optimistic around people, but negative with myself - I'm my own worst critic, I'm very harsh on myself.

I value honesty and I prefer for people to tell me things at face value. I can be blunt most of the time, but I usually read the emotional atmosphere and go easier with my words (sugarcoating most of the time), so I don't hurt the others around me (I tend to gently scold people sometimes). it's hard to make me angry, and also I forgive easily.

I am able to predict outcomes of situations most of the time, and it's helped me a lot (legit feel like I'm able to avoid any dangers fhsjfhd).

my favourite nation is Fontaine! lovely story, music, landscape and characters, and exploration is so fun. as for my favorite element, it has to be anemo!

during my free time I am usually reading about psychology stuff (I love understanding the human mind and people around me in general), playing video games, watching vtubers, watching documentaries (from nature to crime ones), or creating my own artwork, characters and generally just. creating things in my head and living in my own little world when things get too tough for me (its a good way for me to cope).

some fun facts as the cherry on top! I'm a very organized person. my entire room is SUPER organized, neat, super clean. some plushies, manga and books here and there.

I am good in academics, I'm hardworking, and I love animals. cats especially. I'm a sucker for cute things, and I kinda know how to cook. I don't have a lot of physical strength, I'm really weak.

I dedicate myself to those close to me a lot, at this point some people would call a sister figure or a "mom friend" lol.

After getting to know you a little better he would make sure to ask you every so often how you've been feeling since he knows that if he doesn't ask you, you won't tell him anything.

He loves when you to start to open up little by little with him, he would try everything so that you can become closer and gain trust with him. One of the things he does is to invite you to the new shows he does, always in the front row so he can surprise you more.

He might even ask you what you would like to see in magic tricks or if you know any, he also wants ideas and would be willing to listen to you and figure out afterwards how he can do it. Lyney would also tell you about some of his own, but always in a discreet way so as not to ruin the moment of the performance for you.

He's probably a person who really appreciates order to have everything go according to plan, so I think you would also be pretty compatible in terms of little personality things like that as well. And the fact that you like cats so much just makes it even better.

hi pigeon so im watching severance and thinking abt your red colour post again and I'm specifically watching the version someone cut together of just the outie scenes and then just the innie scenes. and I realised that there's colouring of different scenes even outside of the work place that fit ur theory for example marks house, being a lumon funded estate, is very modernist and in the interior is quite cold with mostly whites blues and blacks. but Devon and rickens house is super warm with dark browns and oranges and stuff, showing how theyre like. Opposite Worlds and the life of ricken and devon is so different and alien to life at lumon but also marks own haunted grief-filled life. but also in the very first episode Mark goes to the "dinner with no food" wearing a red sweater when everyone else is in very muted blues or greys which I think is interesting considering he's the most out of place in that group. so the colour theory extends to the outie life as well. AND one last thing, Irvings paintings of the elevator is to the reprogramming floor I think? I can't remember what it's called but it's interesting that that's the only thing he can remember from his innie worklife and also the painting has a distinctive little red light above the elevator door. and that's the place that Ms casey is sent when she's made a huge mistake and is being "dismissed" or something, and presumably Irving has also been sent there so it's something that happens to you when you're EXTREMELY deviant and the break room isn't enough to punish you.... and it's got a little red light as an arrow pointing downwards and idk I may be overthinking it of course but it's all so interesting to me I love this show. Sorry for the uber long ask lol

aaahh don’t apologise for the long ask, but yes all of this!!! i didn’t catch mark’s red sweater, but sooo true he is out of place. but also speaking of colours i don’t think i ever told you, and i didn’t make a post about it, but i actually gave every colour that’s prominent in the show a meaning! so we have red which is of course out of place, blue which is lumon/work (their keycards, mrs. corbel wears blue, also, as you said, mark’s house is blue and it’s provided to him by lumon), green is unity/family (i associate devon with green, the macrodata refinement floor is green, burt and irv in the plant room), white is secerance (the hallways on the severed floor), and then there’s orange and brown, which are the most interesting ones, cause i think they stand for both rebellion and subjugation, which are two opposites that go hand in hand. like, you have ms. casey’s room, which is very brown and green, and i think that’s because lumon tries to force everyone to feel at ease there, but it is mainly used as a subjugation technique. same with the paintings on the severed floor, they’re meant to manipulate/keep everyone subjugated, and they’re very brown, however the one depicting the coup also has orange elements which is where rebellion comes in. also, of course, ricken’s book is orange, and his and devon’s house is more warmly brown than ms. casey’s room. (all of this is just what i remember from my first time watching it, it could be off because it’s been a while)

now, it’s funny that you mentioned the reprogramming room, cause what i assigned with black is the unknown. irv doesn’t know why he has black paint under his fingernails and doesn’t know why there’s black ooze in his dreams, and no one knows what’s in the reprogramming room, but i had a very interesting conversation with a friend of mine (hiii tim @dykebonny we’re talking severance) who’s a big cosmic horror fan, who raised the theory that there’s something otherworldly behind that door. now, i know that’s going into theory territory and i don’t even know if i like it (it’s fun to play around with though) and that gives a whole new potential for the red light cause what is there that’s more out of place in the world than something that isn’t from this world. but like i said this is wild speculation but it’s fun to think about

anyway yeah i might actually make a proper post about all of this when i’m rewatching severance before s2 comes out, but yeah. the use of colour in this show is just fascinating

And it does make the psychic vs psychic scenarios very possible, I would honestly love to watch them fight. Or to draw them fighting... For some reason though (lol) I get a feeling that Mobile is more powerful than Todd. Gotta train more! For Wallace Wells! 💪

So I recently finished reading TGCF... But I have a problem with two things. Spoilers ahead obviously.

In human years, Xie Lian is about 10 years older than Hua Cheng, yes? Since Xie Lian gets turned into an immortal at 17 and doesnt physically age anymore... So how is it that Hua Cheng dies before turning 18 like the fortune said? Because he dies as a soldier... But there is no way that a decade has passed before the war, no??? I can't remember exactly - I feel like I've read the whole thing too fast, the timeline feels blurry in my head - but hasn't it been less than a year since Xie Lian steps down to help for the first time? Isn't that when the war breaks out? That should still make Hua Cheng a child, not a nearly adult teenager...

But THEN - even if I assume I misread that and he actually did die at 16-17, where the hell did the adult form of him come from??? Wouldn't that make the one that followed Xie to puqi shrine the "real" form??? Since that's approximately the age he died?? His image with the eyepatch and the pearl bead and all that, it kept being described as a man in his 20s.... I keep trying to think what have I missed, but even the time he gets killed as a "no name" ghost for the first time, too, he's also in his actual time-of-death state. That much was clear. So what was up with the sudden body change? This whole time, between dying as a ghost, to rejecting becoming a god, he was an immortal still, in one way or another. He couldn't age, right??? It was never mentioned that in the process of becoming the ghost king he could mature physically as he was gathering more power. The only thing explained seemed to be the eye part.

What am I missing here????? No doubt there must be something I misread or accidentally skipped, but what.... What's the explanation for it???????????? How did Hua grow more and Xie didn't even though they were both turned immortal at approx the same age????????????????????????

Also, actually another thing that really annoyed me: that damn array password being left unrevealed. Not that I was that curious of what it was, but I expected it to be revealed and it wasn't, not even in the extras (and in the extras it was even revealed what the last mural was which was EXTREMELY obvious and didn't need to be said). So I went on reddit and I only found theories and someone mentioned that the author stated that "it's to stay between hualian". Which made me even more annoyed LOL because it just makes it sound like even she couldn't come up with what it could be. Personally I don't think it would be sexual, since obviously hua had a ton of worshippers and was a pretty boy and everything, so a lot of people, especially residents of ghost town, wouldn't actually mind saying some stupid stuff like praising his dick or something. I think it would be something like "hua cheng is the best husband in the world" because by the time Xie learned it obviously they still weren't a couple and if it was something Xie-specific (like "San Lang" since he's the only one to refer to him with that. He was soooooooo embarrassed of being so in love with Xie Lian he would NEVER force him to say this kind of stuff in fear of revealing too openly wanting to be spoken to in such way).

I don't know LOL I think I'm overthinking this way too much. But I don't want to give too much shit to the author, I think the story was fun and idk I honestly enjoyed it. Should I draw fanart. I kind of want to.... But yeah I think that's all I really have to say about it lol. It was fun! Definitely not watching the anime or reading the comic or anything else. Genuinely surprised there was no *actual* sex scene though. Also no wedding?????? I can't believe there was no wedding.... Have I missed a chapter or two???? How was there no wedding............ That's so crazy. I can forgive the lack of sex scenes but no wedding...... I'm so disappointed. I was actually so excited to read about a god + ghost wedding. That would be so interesting.
