I wish I didn't hate Ed and Stede but here we are I guess

I didn't have time to put a section about this in my review (since it would add another ten minutes onto a fifty minute video hhhhh) but I just gotta take a second and vent about how much I dislike Stede and Ed in season two.

When I watched season two for the first time, I assumed I didn't ship Gentlebeard anymore because I'd...I dunno...gotten bored of the ship or whatever. But when I went back to rewatch season one, I was immediately sucked back into the Ed/Stede jet engine. I loved them through the finale, up until around the middle of season two...at which point I became totally disinterested again.

Even going back through season one clips for this review...the chemistry is soooo strong for me. The only time I got that feeling from season two was like, from the mermaid scene and the finger-stacking scene.

And I honestly think my disinterest stems from the fact that I can't stand Ed and Stede as characters anymore. They're dicks in season one, but ANNOYING dicks in season two, and I guess I just...don't ship characters who make me want to tear my hair out.

In season two, Ed behaves like a petulant five year old with a gun. It's so "say sorry to your friend right now!" "I don't wanna! :(" followed by a stint in the time out chair and a mumbled non-apology. For all of season two, Ed behaves like a spoiled brat, and I really can't stand it.

My friend pointed out that Ed is in a position where he needs to reparent himself. His emotional development likely stopped around the time he killed his dad (when he was still a kid). No one modeled healthy behavior and emotional regulation for Ed past the age of...maybe fifteen? So of course he's gonna behave like a kid. It's gonna be a long road for Ed to learn these regulating strategies as an adult, and I guess...hhhhhh.

None of Ed's trauma excuses Ed from torturing and traumatizing his crew. It feels shitty to find a deeply traumatized character's behavior "annoying," but...I mean. I say this as someone who's experienced suicide ideation myself: Ed isn't real, and I'm not Ed's friend, and so I don't really feel obligated to extend patience and understanding to a fictional construct when that construct spends 90% of his screen time behaving like a stuck up, self-obsessed, capricious, whiny, murderous asshole.

Add season-two-Stede to the mix and CHRIST...Stede—like Ed—was always a dick, but the way he encouraged Lucius to divulge his trauma only to react with cartoonish disgust, cower like a cornered animal, and then flee while begging Lucius to be quiet...

Then Stede decides to veto the crew's decision to ban Ed—their abuser—from the ship ("talk it through as a crew" my ass)...? Oh, and gotta love how Stede-"I've been the cause of death. It changes you"-Bonnet sets a guy on fucking fire and laughs, then kills a bunch of English soldiers with nary a backward glance. Okay. Would've loved some kind of exploration re: that major heel turn, but fine. And then Ed and Stede stand over Izzy's grave—the (mutilated) body of their dear friend and crewmate—and their combined eulogy amounts to "He was tense. Very tense." "Yeah, he was a fucking nightmare. What a guy." How endearing. Season two turned these two bastards (affectionate) into bastards (derogatory) for me and I'm still salty about it. God DAMMIT.

Listen! Listen! Listen to me! How about this: Paimon is the 7th ex, and Adam is the real mother of Stolas. 😂 I immediately thought of this when I listened to "No Way" from Six The Musical.

The only reason they break up is because Adam finds out that Paimon had an affair that he didn't know about. (Basically like Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon's situation.) This would add a layer of trauma to Stolas's situation. I guess it's like father, like son, except the father was an asshole while the son was forced into a child marriage and just wanted to be happy. Stolas didn't know or remember Adam being his mother because Paimon got child custody, and Adam wasn't allowed to see him. This would add some drama once Adam finds out about the child marriage and Stella abusing his son. Also, I want to see Lucifer find out that one of the Kings, more obedient to fight than the other kings, has two hundred legions of demons under his rule and is the asshole who wouldn't allow his now-boyfriend to see his son. I want to see how the fight would happen.

Paimon probably threatened to reveal Adam's residence in hell to Lucifur and heaven and it drove Adam away, scared of punishment. Either way, he would have to leave the baby. Still hurt tho and it made him so upset for years.

Sadly, the stolas plot point would most likely have to be scrapped to complexity and timeline stuff. I have no idea how it would work sory wiseee. But I'm gonna write this thing. It's more of an idea, so for now, yes, Adam has a baby ✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️

Oh but when Adam finds out what's going on 💀💀💀

Imo, I think Adam was and is a good parent. He's just an asshole to literally everybody else. He might have wanted to find Stolas before, but he had no idea where to go. And for plot reasons, he doesn't understand hell heigharchy or any of its big leaders, he just got with a big strong hot bird guy for a while. He just hoped his kid was fine (he was not lol)

As for Lucifur, yeah, he's gonna throw hands. He knows it's hypocritical of him to get mad at Paimon for cheating on Adam but he's still so pissed. And for not letting Adam see his kid, man if he could never see Charlie again he would actually die, so he's gonna beat tf out of him

I think Paimon would just take it ngl, he upset his king and although he doesn't understand why it's a big deal he's just gonna take it o3o

This thing is all over the place and has so many loopholes that I would have to get help for piecing this in but I do love this idea

I Died and Reincarnated as a Tiger Prince?! | BSD!AU

( . . . ) I've been watching too much isekai/slice of life/fantasy anime lately, so I'm just gonna put some random stuff here and just- tackle it later, I don't know what's become of my brain- (Welcome to my brain, I am sorry in advance)

Right out of the park: Atsushi ends up dying in the orphanage.

The next thing he knows, he wakes up to an otherworldly universe that's full on fantasy; I mean "Dahlia in Bloom", "By The Grace of the Gods", HELL EVEN "Snow White with the Red Hair" too.

We have magic, guilds, monsters, mystical beasts, you name it!

Anyways- he wakes up in what looks to be an infirmary, but it was... different. For one thing, there was a nurse and someone else there.

They introduce themselves as the royal doctor, Yosano Akiko, and the royal captain guard, Byakko, who she claims to be his mother though the difference between her and Atsushi were evident; she was a pure shapeshifter but human, and Atsushi is a white tiger half-human.

They kept it vague but explained that he was now safe, and would be living with the royal family in the mountains, where they are now currently. He doesn't have to worry about what happened before, but he has a hunch it's something similar to the orphanage, though he never brought it up.

Byakko teaches Atsushi all she knows about this world, their home practically converted into a big library. Which he didn't mind, he adored reading as much as he did back in the orphanage. Although his new features are still something he needs to get used to.

He becomes acquainted with the people in the castle; their staff, the administration, and the royal family. But the most he found himself staying close to was his mother when she does guard training or the bandaged brunet prince and his begrudging advisor who is half/half wanting to strangle said prince. But if either were busy, he would hole himself in the castle library or befriend the people that live in the castle besides the royal family.

As he grows, Atsushi learns about combat and magic to the point he's mastered even his mother's magic besides his own (that being turning into a tiger) and especially how the world works. But never once has he left the castle, only ever staring at the castle walls and into the town on the mountain with them. Because even then, the mental scar from the orphanage still haunt him that the outside world was dangerous.

News spread quickly of the royal family gaining a new member, a white tiger human with unique colored hair and eyes to boot. Atsushi thought that it was normal as people can be born half-human. But apparently not as rare as a white tiger half-human. Nevertheless, that hasn't stopped him from living a life that he wished for years.

By the age of 18, a royal family from the coast came to visit for some kind of business; an alliance of sorts. They have been neighbors, but things have always been neutral but it has for as long as history reads, so they may as well start an alliance supported by a trade system and something else.

At first, they were thinking of a marriage proposal between their gingerheaded guard captain and the bandaged brunet, but it seemed the news of the new tiger prince reached them, and suggested a second marriage proposal; this time with either half-human black dragon siblings and Atsushi.

(A/N: Damn, this really happened because I'm got invested in slice-of-life-isekai-fantasy anime, christ. This post was supposed to be vague bullet points on an idea that seemed interesting [hell I even did the cheesy name title and everything] but the more I got to typing this and visualizing it in my head, the more it became fleshed out and- hhhhhh T~T"" | aaaaaaaaaaa yeah I don't know what else to say other than it'll be a while until I flesh this out entirely, and yes I made this entirely because I've been watching By the Grace of the Gods and just- yes- I don't know what else to say on that- | Atsushi getting to know everyone is-like- season 1. Ok, so I’m just sharing some more alternate EC chapter 5 translation insight with you guys since people definitely seem curious. Um…small notice, I am still trying to paraphrase what my friend has tried to explain to me, so if I make any mistakes that someone uncovers later, I do apologize in advance.

An interesting Japanese tidbit in the beach scene where Seph says that it’s his first “field mission” helps us get a clearer picture of what he means.

In Japanese, he says that he “has never had much contact with people and this is his first real battle/first time on a real battlefield, so he doesn’t know what he is doing.”

I suppose this confirms that he hasn’t been exactly on the frontlines, although there is that info blob from the Crisis Core guide about him having been “on the frontlines of battle” since before he was ten years old. My guess is that this is either Shinra propaganda, or else it refers to his training, which would still be referred to as “battle,” I guess. He clearly states that he learned to kill without hesitation throughout his training, so whatever they were throwing at him, it was basically “real” but in a controlled environment, perhaps.

Also, when he says “Nothing, it’s never going to happen anyway,” about living a normal life, it reads in Japanese more as “I don’t care anymore/It doesn’t matter, it’s never going to happen.”

It seems like a direct reference to the Nibelheim scene where he laughs off the questions about his parentage because “What does it matter?”

He has really lost heart about both things, but it’s obvious he still cares.

Also. When Sephiroth says that he knows asking about his everyone about his mother isn’t “cool,” Glenn laughs and says “You know it, haha!” which seems fairly translated in the English, but what may be missing is the nuance of Sephiroth’s next response.

He basically says, “Yeah, that’s everyone’s reaction,” but it comes off like he is referring to Glenn’s laughing and dismissal. Basically, we get the impression that people tend to mock Sephiroth’s inquiry because it’s supposedly childish, like a kid lost in a supermarket asking for their mom.

My friend really thinks it’s because of his hero status, i. e., people laugh at the idea of this young super solider asking about something so “normal?” She also suspects it’s a bit of a reference to the fanbase’s joking about Sephiroth’s obsession with his mother in general. Both in-game and in the actual world, Sephiroth is not really seen as human, so people are amused or fascinated when he shows glimpses of it…or else they dismiss it.

The Japanese version of that photo scene apparently gets this message across better. Seph is used to being laughed off or dismissed when asking about his mother. I also would not be surprised if Hojo was someone that laughed at him over it a lot.

Once again, sorry for extra pain, but we may be getting the idea that it wasn’t just a general “Don’t ask about your mother” vibe at Shinra for Sephiroth, but also a long history of people mocking the question. Poor kid. (I will share a few more translation details soon).

Hhhhhh these are SO interesting.

For Seph's training, I'm of the mind that they've probably been having him undertake mock skirmishes/drills under a controlled setting, as you mentioned. Sephiroth has apparently already been killing, so it wouldn't surprise me if they've been plucking enemies for him to slay while still in their custody. Interesting that it contradicts CC's lore. But at the same time, that could have all been propaganda. It's reasonable to assume that Sephiroth's training was likely extremely psychologically warping, and, for him, as real as an actual battle considering he's developed a paranoia and survival instinct. Shinra is so fucked up.

His line about not wanting to be a hero sounds WAY more checked out in the Japanese dialogue here. He sounds completely hopeless.

Okay now I MUST know more about the dinner with Reigen's parents if you're willing to share?

I have it all written down in note form somewhere bc it was going to be a Issho side story but hhhhhh who on god's green earth knows when I could actually get around to that.

Dinner at Reigen's parents!

-eventually Reigen feels/is guilted by his mom into bringing Teru over to meet his new grandparents. Reigen tells Teru he absolutely does not need to think of them that way

-in the week preceding the visit Reigen is quiet and stressed and it makes Teru really uncomfortable

-dinner is very awkward. Only Reigen's mom is talking and Reigen has this weird fake polite smile that won't go away and Teru does not recognize him. No waving his hands. No silly jokes.

-Teru DOES recognize the behavior though and it haunts him to think Reigen as an adult is acting the way he did at age 8

-when Reigen's dad finally gets in on the conversation he is polite but makes it very clear he thinks this whole situation is less than satisfactory. His less than subtle opinions are that 1. Reigen should get a respectable job. 2. He needs to find a wife if he thinks for one second he is actually going to raise a child, and 3. That he thinks this whole "having Teru" thing is a cry for attention and he needs to grow up

-as he makes it clear he thinks Reigen is not a good fit for being a dad, Teru has had enough of this bs (bc Reigen isn't arguing back he's just getting smaller and frowning at his plate) and loudly states that Reigen is a BETTER DAD THAN YOU

-cue a moment of disbelief from every person at the table including Teru bc he really didn't mean to say that out loud and oh god Reigen's parents look Unhappy. Teru internally panics bc he knows THAT look too and it's been a long time since it was pointed at him

-mom opens her mouth to (scold? He doesn't know) and Reigen stands up and IF YOU YELL AT MY SON YOU CAN KISS US COMING OVER AGAIN GOODBYE. >:(

-parents are very How Dare you speak to your mother that way in her own house? And start lecturing him on why he is proving their point and clearly Teru is learning his manners and-

-Reigen is like Nope. nope this was a stupid idea, I'm sorry Teru. And takes his hand and walks them right out the door and they both cry on the way home and order takeout and watch bad movies until they both fall asleep on the couch

hhhhhh tensimm brainrot

a drabble about an au i just cooked up where 10 doesn't regen at the end of eot and gets to live a little longer

tags: implied/referenced abuse, blood mention, the time lords are massive assholes, post eot, the drums, 10th doctor, simm!master, tensimm, thoschei, their little head bonk, ten is so in love, touch starved Master (kinda), so much hurt/comfort, author wants to hug the Master, academy era names, he/it Master, they/them Doctor

they could hear it. for the first time in a very long time, the Doctor heard the Drums. they didn't know how. they didn't know why. but they had a sneaking suspicion that it meant the Master was in danger. and despite it all, despite the constant running and fighting and betrayal and animosity, they couldn't leave the light of their life in danger. they managed to break their way into the Void. into the empty nothingness that now housed Gallifrey. it took a long time of fidding with the heart of the Tardis, but they did it. the closer they got to their old home, the louder and clearer the din in their mind became. a rapid beat of 1-2-3-4, 1-2-3-4, 1-2-3-4. faster than before. weaker.

it took a very long time to find the Master, but when they did, they nearly broke down sobbing. there lay the Master, their Koschei, facedown in the dirt, the foot of some Time Lord planted on the side of his face, old dried blood on his hoodie being overtaken by fresh wounds. insult and injury. a reminder of how the other Time Lords thought of him and the Doctor. this must be their punishment for killing Rassilon, for the old Lord President was nowhere to be found. good. he deserved it, for what he did to Koschei. but Koschei was still shoved into the dirt.

it took a lot of running, bargaining, and knock-outing, but finally, they scooped the Master into their arms and made a mad dash back to safety. far away from Gallifrey. the poor Master, their poor Koschei, was completely exhausted. its back was a map of scars and bruises. its front didn't fare much better. imagine the Doctor's surprise when, as they gently ran their hand down its side, it purred and pressed into it desperately despite being seemingly unconscious.

the Doctor carried him to their bedroom, which the Tardis had made some slight alterations to. the bed was larger, big enough to accommodate both of them. sitting by the foot of it was a pile of clothes; an exact match to the Master's current outfit (minus the blood, obviously).

by that point, the Master had woken up slightly, his eyes finally peeling open and making a little noise of confusion.

"Mmmh?" the Doctor looked down at the Master and smiled softly, a hint of sadness in their eyes. "hullo, Koschei," they hummed, sitting down on the edge of the bed. the Master paused. "you came," he whispered, not daring to believe what was going on. "you called."

the Master would have broken down sobbing if he had the energy. they heard him. they heard the Drums and came for him. he nearly destroyed time itself and yet Theta Sigma still came. he buried himself into their chest, reeling at the sensation of touch that wasn't meant to harm him. he purred a little louder, now the only sound either of them could hear.

"Theta," he whimpered, with tears in his eyes, "Theta, I'm sorry. I don't deserve this. I don't deserve you. all I've ever done is put you in danger. I'm so sorry-" "Oi." Theta hugged Koschei closer to them, bringing one hand to its cheek and pressing their foreheads together. "I forgive you. all anyone's ever done is hurt you. s' not your fault."

Theta cradled Koschei in their arms, rocking ever so slightly as tears rolled down his face. but he was happy. happy tears. because for once in their bloody lives, everything felt okay. they were going to be okay.
