What each (Southwest) state would be doing on a Random Night in the middle of July

Arizona: Nobody knows. Nobody has heard from Arizona in many days. Arizona has, long ago, gone off the grid, presumed to be roaming the desert somewhere. She'll resurface one of these days, fingers crossed. She was last seen walking at night on Highway 179 just outside Sedona. There was little concern because she does this pretty much annually.

New Mexico: To just about seven people's surprise, definitely not alien hunting. There are too many UFOs in the dang state anyway. It’s all tourist stuff, in her opinion. She’s sitting on her floor, most likely, because it's nice and chilly there. The curtains are drawn so as to not let in the sun. And no (and don’t ask her again), she’s not doing anything Breaking Bad-y. She may or may not garden later — depends if her flowers are going to get stolen again.

Oklahoma: (Hopefully) seeing the very last of the tornadoes this year. Most definitely complaining about how hot it is — and wearing a pair of jeans and possibly even a jean jacket all the same. For the billionth time, he’s "trying" to barbecue corn, despite having already perfected it ages ago. Year-round he claims that he doesn’t cook, but he’s been reprimanded multiple times for being "too busy grilling" to come into work.

Texas: Honestly, what is Texas not doing? Just last night he was hauled off by a state trooper because he was found poking out the tires of an F-150 with a barbecue skewer in a Whataburger parking lot (coincidentally, right across the street from Denny's — of course). When asked "Don’t you love F-150s?" he responded with, "Not when they’re more lifted than mine." His bail can be found at goddammittexasnotagain .com.

Fun Hetalia Headcannon

Alfred is way more northeast than Amelia. He totally hangs out in the woods and bird watches. He would totally have a small cottage on a lakeside in north Dakota that he goes to whenever he's feeling stressed about stuff. Alfred would totally have the random ass ability to catch salmon with his bare hands or carve knifes out of wood. Amelia on the other hand, is like the stereotypical Texas/Florida girl. Every other day when she's not ruining Arthur or Matthew's day she's out in Texas or Arizona admiring the desert atmosphere. She would totally be infatuated with the numerous ghost towns sprinkled around New Mexico and Arizona. On that same note, Amelia goes feral for western wildlife, wanting to own as many gila monsters as she could (But she wouldn't though because Arthur would flip his shit if he found out she got one.) She would be an expert on how to get water out of cacti or how to spot out venomous desert lizards/snakes.

here are some breadcrumbs about my band AU while I work on some character sheets for the main trio -- we'll be seeing miss Seychelles first

• Alfred is lead singer + guitar, Matthew is bass, and Michèle is backing vocals (though sometimes she does get duets... LET HER SING!) and drums

• Michèle can also play piano -- she grew up taking piano lessons and got into drums when Alfred began showing her and Matthew his dad's record collection

• The band get discovered by their... agent by pure luck when they're messing around in a music shop in a big city

• Alfred and Matthew are half brothers. Alfred's father is the one who got him into music, his guitar was his father's

• Michèle and Matthew grew up next door neighbors. They speak in French to one another when Alfred's pissing them off (which is often)

• Alfred is ~23 at the beginning of the AU while Michèle and Matthew are both 20. Due to the events which lead Alfred to move back in with his mother and the half-brother he didn't know all too well, Alfred was held back a year. Alfred had mini-van in high school and for the two years he could drive before graduating, he was Matthew and Michèle's ride everywhere. Instead of gas money, they paid him with cans of Arizona iced tea

• Michèle's sense of fashion is/will be heavily inspired by Edith Victoria's from Meet Me @ The Altar and a mix of the flowy loose garments she wears in canon

• Matthew's sense of style is giving dad-core. Very much leaning into the outfits Patrick Stump wore on Fall Out Boy's recent tour

• This band is Alfred's baby. His drive to make it in the industry tests the group's bond... He is a moth testing fate as he desperately flies towards the spotlight

• Michèle and Alfred work together on melody but all three of the bandmates work on lyrics together

• Matthew is the least musically experienced

• the woes of Fall Out Boy's fourth studio album, Folie à Deux, are thematically important down the line...

• Adventures await them in Europe... A contest (not the Annual Song Contest™, a made up one so I have excuses to pull in other Hetalia characters), love, friendship, rivalry, and found family

Montana:

- A real mountaineer, Montana spends most of her time hiking or camping. She won't respond to emails for weeks at a time because she is one with nature

- Will often go on adventures with Idaho.

Washington:

- Very bright and friendly! If a bit awkward and nerdy.

- She's always down to socialize and her and California hang out a bunch to annoy Oregon.

- Her cupboard consists of only green clothes.

Idaho:

- I like to think he commits to the bit. Carries potatoes with him everywhere.

- He does own a potato farm after all.

- Very stupid, does stupid stuff whenever he's out and about.

Wyoming:

- While I reject the canon that people forget about Canada, I do 100% apply that to Wyoming. She gets bumped into constantly and everyone forgets about her all the time.

- She's the BIGGEST lebsian on Earth. This girl LOVES women

Utah:

- Very complicated relationship with religion.

- Wears long dresses and follows typical Mormon rules, although legally she's not a Mormon.

- Her hair grows in unnatural colors due to the salt content in her salt lake. As a religious person, however, she does her best to hide it, bleaching her hair.

Oklahoma:

- Dusty boy! He shakes his hair and dust goes everywhere. He's actually very blond but you'd never know.

- Very big sportsman! He's pretty good at just about every Summer Sport.

- Hangs out with New Mexico and Arizona a lot. He hates Texas.

New Mexico:

- He used to be a very suave, very out there guy, but is now very reserved.

- He prefers a simple life but struggles a lot with it. Used to be best friends with Texas.

- He hangs out with Oklahoma and Arizona all the time.

Arizona:

- Very bright and sunny, she's very sweet.

- Her body temperature is very high and if you touch her for too long you will burn your hand.

- She's fallen in the grand canyon so many times that she's basically immune to fall damage now.

Alaska:

- Very intimidating. Her presence alone can stress people out.

- Texas likes to pick fights with her, but he'll usually back down.

- She has a cabin in the woods and a pack of sled dogs. She lives a solitary life.

- When she gets bored though, she'll spend time with Hawai'i.

Hawai'i:

- There's a precolonization Hawai'i and a colonized Hawai'i. Both are alive and are close.

- Legally, she does have the Jones last name on paperwork but she doesn't identify with it.

- Pretty chill and kind, but really dislikes tourists.

- She and Nevada get along great.

What if I showed you guys my Hetalia OCs for the 50 states that I've been working on for the past 2 months?

Delaware:

- Overly stressed all the time, he has a complex where he needs to feel important. So he opts to do work that would normally fall on the other 49 so he can seem important to them.

- He's the busyman of Delmarva, he gets everything squared away.

- He has the biggest, most effective puppy dog eyes in the world. They're just big and sad and it's hard to say no!

Pennsylvania:

- Very active, has a gym in her home for sure even though she prefers to go outside and work out.

- She and Delaware are very close, as the first two states they became good friends (and New Jersey!). She does her best to protect Delaware when she can.

- Very straightforward, she doesn't mess around. You always know what to expect from her.

New Jersey:

- Loud. So very loud. Always wearing gaudy makeup and unappealing clothing.

- She's very loyal as a friend though–her and New York hang out constantly, with half of their time dedicated to debating something or other loud enough for everyone around them to hear.

- She and New York have been in a battle over the ownership of the Statue of Liberty for a long time. Since the statue is technically on an island that belongs to her, but New York will not give it up. She owns the gift shop.

Georgia:

- One of my favorite states, I love her and her design very dearly.

- I like to think of her as a Mary Sue type, where she's always busy and has an overwhelming amount of work to handle, but she does it all so easily and so effectively that you'd never guess how much she does.

- Also, she owns a peach orchid absolutely.

Connecticut:

- "Um, actually—🤓👆" embodied.

- Everyone is sick of how entitled he is, because he acts like he's so much more intelligent than everyone.

- Which is funny because he is really really smart, but still not as smart as he pretends to act.

- He's one of the only states that's friends with Ohio.

Massachusetts:

- Do not utter the word "revolution" around this man or he will go nuts.

- Very quick to act, very quick to anger. He likes to set things on fire—he always carries a lighter on him— and argue. If he ever came face to face with England, it would probably go very badly.

- He despises tea, to the point he physically cannot drink it.

Maryland:

- The mediator of Delmarva, this man is the master of solving problems. He's the sweetest.

- Also, the best chef in the country aside from Louisiana and I cannot stress that enough. You know this man has a BIG kitchen in his house.

South Carolina:

- The bimbo of the country okay.

- I just love the idea of her being so determined to be a farmer, but struggling so much because she's just not designed to be a farmer. But she won't give up even though she probably should.

- She's good friends with Georgia but her and North Carolina definitely have a rivalry going on.

New Hampshire:

- Can this man calm down? Please?

- He basically bounces off the walls, definitely has ADHD, and always down to do somethint stupid.

- He spends a good portion of his time bugging Vermont because she's easy to annoy. New Hampshire and Vermont are very close though. The siblings ever.

Virginia:

- I had to make one of them emo okay.

- She's the confident leader of Delmarva for sure. As the first state colonized, she's got a good heart for leadership. She's the state that works the closest with America directly.

- Despite being emo, she's very sweet.

hetalia thoughts: america's states/canada's provinces HC

idk these were jus some thoughts i had about it. i'll go deeper if anyone asks.

also there was something i wanted to mention but i forgot it.

so if you don't know US history: basically Europe came over and settled in a bunch of places. Like, a lot of places. Alllll the way down the coast. These colonies were separate but most had the same idea of "hey new land! let's get some resources and stuffs and things!" Jamestown wasn't under the same local rule as New York, for example.

now in Hetalia, we know colonies, staets, provinces, etc. can have personifications, because personifciation represent the people. So if you have enough people claiming a certain place as their home, you could get a personification. E.g. American settlers were English but thought of themselves as a little more then that so America pops up.

And I like to think America is Jamestown (I think Canada miiight have been New France's Canada since that came under British rule after the Seven Years' war), obviously they don't call them that in the canon but they also use modern names for countries across the board regardless of time period soooo whatever with that. Eventually of course the colonies grow, but there's a good chance there were other colonies personified, especially in Canada with the French Canadians and the Arcadians and what is now Florida. But Brittain decided to take the two colonies he probably thought were the most likely to do something great for him so we got America and Canada meeting and hanging out for a while. The long times England is gone, he's probably at his other colonies and trying to divide his time equally, or to an extent anyways.

Jamestown also served as the the colonel capital for a while, so this would also add to that. Canada is Canada, and I personally think he was just all of New France (America of course is just weird and we all get insulted if you think we're from a different place, America the country was probably literally just the Jamestown area and maybe Roanoke Island and the other small colonies of the colony, who knows)

anyways considering there were so many colonies and many had different purposes (religious freedom, the Pennsylvania thing, common language differences, reactions to natives, etc.), there were almost definitely more then just two dudes.

moving on from that, I think America as we know him kind of became the "ringleader" of sorts for the 13 colonies' rebellion. He was the first permanent colony, he was at a central location, and he knew England well because England hung out with him so much. And since Canada was fighting on England's side, it would make sense to maybe not have him up north having to fight him (although that didn't really stop Canada ofc). Since the 13 states were technically each their own, it's likely there were 13 American personifications (or at least a couple, depending on how strong the colonists' identity as part of their state needs to be for that to happen).

Eventually when America became the 50 states and Canada became a bunch of provinces and territories, I think America and Canada kind of became like the representation of "being American/'Canadian". America I think became like Washington D.C. - he's the main guy the diplomats talk to, he's the one deciding "oh ima go bother Japan and hang out with him", while his states all do their own things (for non americans yes we have state pride. My friend from Arizona likes to yell that he's from Arizona (walking around in winter with flipflops) and there's a bit of rivalry between Northerners and Southlanders in California)). Canada is the same, and I think his nightmare about Quebec might prove he's not Quebec (they seem pretty set on staying French Canadian) and he's just been general-Canada.

Now that i think of it, America might have jsut been "whoever is the capital rn that's me". Would make sense as Virginia and Maryland gave up land to make Washington D.C.

So how exactly do the states/territories in America and Canada's provinces/territories work?

Well, like I said- they're all personified. There's more then enough people, and the US I know even has laws about "you need x amount of people to be a state". Probably just add "you have a personification" to that list. I imagine that most of them are around middle-highschool age, a few like California or New York who could rank as small countries might be tipping on the edge of 17-18 physically But America or Canada would be the oldest of their broods respectively, and it'd kind of be like how Japan has all his provinces and they sort of act like assistants. States on the lower end of the spectrum, like in the Midwest, would be younger for sure. The whole territories thing is the same- Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, Guam, the Phillipines when they were under America, Hawai'i before it became a state, etc. would all have been younger and if they got a new title (independent or statehood), they would age up a bit as normal. Think Iceland going from territory slowly growing before speedrunning puberty in the 1900s.

And ofc there's little cliques and groups. Border states between Canada and America like to join each others' sports leagues, for example, and people sometimes cross the border if things on the other side are closer, heck if memory serves me there's even an airport cut in half because of the border. Though there's a fascinating video or two on YouTube about the no-touch line that's just canonical real-life America and Canada being sibligns and complaining the other touched their islands. Naturally those border states are much closer relationship-wise. The Southern states have their own thing going on (for a while they tried to be rebels and went through their punk era), the New England states have their own deal, etc.

and of course personalities differ! Quebec is quite set in his way (complete with Marukaite Chikyuu). California complains constantly about gas prices while their neighbors complain about California's inability to not go on fire every summer, Florida is Florida, Winsconsin has a cheese obsession, etc.

The key difference for me though is that Canadian provinces and territories are all under Canada but in America, each state is its own little country. So while fundamentally they'd serve similar purposes, America's assistants are....well, they're a bit more free-range lol.

Also! America probably just lets his states go freerange (most of them are nearly his age anyways they'll be fiiiine they're American-) so unlike Japan or France whose regions live nearby or with them, America's live in their respective states and Canada's are probably the same considering the size of their countries. I presume most countries' places do this (Japan's house might be in Osaka and that's why we get to see him as Japan's assistant.)

so basically tldr: The American states are mini countries (they technically are-) and the provinces/territories just exist the same way Japan's and China's do. America and Canada were also probably never actual states. Probably.

Alfred Home Headcanons

We see Alfred with quite a few houses throughout the series so I think it’s fair to say the man gets around and lives all across the country. It was difficult pinning down just a few for this post and even more so for the photos to go alongside it.

I’m going to be narrowing things down to regions of the United States but I think this man has at least one home in every state. We’ll be here a lifetime if I had to describe his home in Ohio vs Indiana.

We’ll start with New England.

His oldest homes are located here, the most noteworthy is his white colonial home in Massachusetts just outside of Boston overlooking the bay. This is the one he was raised in for a large part of his youth under Arthur’s care and tutorage. Think of the house that we see in the episode of America’s Storage Room Cleaning with the wrap-around porch and expansive garden. It’s an honestly massive home for just one person to be living in. During the mid to late 1800′s when people like Lovino, Tolys, and Morgan came to work in the United States, this was the main residence that Alfred lived with them in. Finally felt a little less lonely.

I think Cape Cod or Georgian is the best fit for the style of house in this region, like, to be more specific.

Traditional accents rather than it being the main focus.

Similarly to Arthur's dust-covered archive of an estate, this is where Alfred stores a lot of his things from the days of old. Unlike his father, he doesn't put much out on display. A couple pieces of memorabilia here and there but for the most part, he's got it in a box shoved in a corner of a room he hasn't opened in half a century.

What once was Sir Lord Kirkland's bedroom when staying in the colonies, has the largest upstairs balcony that looks over the garden and on clear days, out to the harbor. A telescope perched on the railing always on the lookout for father's return home.

I think something of old he does have out on display is a massive quilt he has up and framed in the living room. It's something that took him ages to finish back in the 19th century and the fabric is far too fragile for him to use it practically anymore.

For New York, he lives in a high-rise apartment in Manhattan. Big, open floor plan, and lots of large windows, and it's perfect for entertaining guests. This is his most modern and luxurious residence. Beautiful view of the city and Central Park. Think of the apartment that we see in Hetalia of the Living Dead.

Back in the 20s he 100% had one of those big Gatsby mansions out in the Hamptons and threw parties all of the time but got rid of it all towards the latter half of the decade. Think of the ridiculousness of Mansion Party by Ninja Sex Party

The last one for this area will be the brick row house in West Philadelphia. This is likely his second oldest home and where he spent a lot of his time during the Revolution. This is where he feels like where he was really born as a nation so he has a lot of deep ties here.

I want to give him an attic bedroom with a desk by the window that can see the steeple of Christ Church near the Delaware River. The same desk he's written pamphlets for the Revolution, letters to his brother, and for even a time, a typewriter when he was feeling a resurgence of literature and poetry in the early 20th century is still there.

I don't which state exactly has that beautiful blue suburban with the big pool. Somewhere there's not a lot of snow year-round and gets those hot summers where all you want to do is submerge yourself in water. Somewhere in the South, I'm thinking either one of the Carolinas or Georgia.

He feels like the type of person to have ranches all across the central US. Most of the year he has other people working on them to take care of the animals.

The one he frequents the most is the working cattle ranch in Arizona.

Time capsule midcentury house out in the Midwest. I want to say somewhere in the Chicago area. I want to put it in Southern California where this style of house first started to get popular but going to give some love to other parts of the country.

Floor-to-ceiling windows, a sunk-in living room pit, short staircases connecting rooms throughout the house, partial brick walls, fireplaces centered in rooms, and several doors and windows to access the outdoor living space.

If you've been on my blog for a while then you might have noticed I love making Alfred a California Beach Boy. I can give him so many houses in just this state alone but I'll keep it short and sweet.

His bum-out beach cottage is located in Santa Monica and he's been located there since the 1890s. The house itself has been remodeled and updated several times over the past century. The materials he uses for the house as well as the layout stay fairly consistent, with lots of natural, light wood and open space to allow in lots of sunlight and central airflow. It's also a small space; you open that front door and right away you can already see the living room, kitchen, dining room, and out to the ocean out back. The entryway is the house.

It's almost purposely made so you can see the wear on the floors and furniture. If he drops a surfboard on the floor and there's some damage left behind, he'll leave it there. You can see the wood frames have been handmade and have some flaws and mistakes if you run a hand over them.

It's also very analog with most of the tech in the house dating to maybe the mid-90s at the latest: VHS and record player, rotary phone, etc. No AC either but he does have a great internet connection.

If I cannot fulfill my lifelong dream of having a colorfully painted Victorian house in San Francisco then Alfred can have one. I think he spent a lot of time in the 80s in the Bay Area and this old house was just a constant project of fixing up and refurbishing.

Okay, the last one I'll talk about for the time being will be his house up in Washington State.

I just really love Contemporary houses and Alfred had one built for him when they first started gaining popularity in the Pacific Northwest in 1935. Large windows invite the beauty of the region into the house while complementing the natural landscape. The Pacific Northwest features steep, rugged terrain that encourages post and beam architecture.

Tucked away in cozy woods and nestled along a majestic river.

Decor often brings nature indoors using live-edge wooden furniture, stone and wooden accents, and other cozy touches.

I don't see Alfred as being a big log cabin person but incorporate the coziness of one into this house. Place that Twilight filter on and it's his most aesthetic getaway.

I’m playing Strangerville with my OC!New Mexico or Josephina as she is known here as the main character living with her younger sister Aldonza and father Alfred who has been stationed in the small town. However, despite her father’s reassurances that this is just military town, Josephina can’t shake the feeling something’s wrong. Dangerously wrong.

1. Josephina tries to convince her sister that there is something wrong with this town. Aldonza doesn’t really believe her but doesn’t dismiss her her out of hand.

2. Human or not, Alfred is America and making burgers at 5 in the morning is completely in character.

3. Aldonza accidentally set fire to the oven while cooking a grilled cheese. Alfred and Josephina are none too please.

4. Someone broke into the house and began to demand answers from Alfred since he’s in the military career which they confirm when Josephina stops them and ask about Strangerville.

CONNECTICUT

Suddenly the river is not cleared 4 ppl to be swimming in theres branches everywhere underwater etc im getting hit in the stomach my hairs grtting caught in branches i think idr i mightve been bald at the time. if i had hair it was getting tangled ok. harrowing. and then up ahead theres a fork in the river ajd i go left and atp im expecting 2 just fucking die yk. so im floating still getting hit by branches Cljnging to my floatie 4 life im like My fucking phone is with my family so how tf. am i going to let anybody know where i am if i do ever get out of this fucking river. but anyways so im flosting and MERCY i see kayakers and theyre like !? and im like crying and theyre like Omg come over here and theres a little like. concrete dock thing so i climb up on it and one of the kayakers let me borrow their phone to text my family basically. and then i found out if i had gone on the right side That leads to a big reservoir that has a ton of gators in it so i lmwouldve for sure been eatej probably. so yeah. my 2nd water related near desth experience in florida.. maybe i should stay away from there. anyways aside from that rhere were these cool springs they were so cold but it was fun ^_^ i also drove a truck 4 a little bit (just in my grans friends yard i was judt helping move it)
