Inspiration struck, and I decided to draw @gamerknight7310 's entire 2025 Community Box! Then I go sick halfway, and I could only get the portion I wanted done today...

And because I'm me, I decided to make the task even more complicated and imagine a hero for every kwami in the box using my poster child Bellamy as a conduit (I wanted to do weapons too, but I'll finish those later because I was too impatient not to post lol)

Since I already had Drayy designed, I decided to start he whole process from them because I wanted all the kwamis to have a similar element that ties them together as kwamis from the same box. And that ended up being a sort of contrasting accent colour, like the blue in Drayy's braids! Jovv got mustard, Currio got brown, Mullch got a pale-ish red, and Ecco got this titanium blue.

Now let's get into each of Bellamy's designs! (For those who know these are all Bellamy Prime.) Faux Fur! The one with the most obvious name! I struggled a bit with how I wanted to do the fox tail on the dress because my original idea was to give her a short fur skirt that looked like a fox tail wrapped around her waist. I threw that idea away pretty quickly since I couldn’t make it look right no matter how hard I tried. I can't remember how I ended up on his open fur trimmed over skirt but I think it works!

Funnily enough, I think Bellamy would hate this miraculous and act like she had some sort of dark horrible power thrust on her. The idea of forced false happiness (how she sees Jovv's power) is something she finds deplorable. She would probably avoid using the power as much as possible and just bash in the villain of the week's head in with the hulla hoop.

Vermoire! Her name comes from ver (worm) + moire (a type of textile). It's probably the weakest design, lol. Gotta be honest, I had no idea what a worm themed hero was supposed to look like other than probably segments. Anyway, I somehow got reminded of those fluffy worms on strings, and I remembered seeing a giant boa scarf version of it somewhere, so I just decided to go with a giant worm scarf XD. Because of the power I also tried to do some kind of raincoat/cape, but I feel like that might have been too much.

We can just say that because of how disgusting Bellamy would find the application of the worm's power, she'd want as much coverage as possible. She would not want that slime anywhere near her, hence the baggy clothes! Assuming it keeps its structure, maybe it minimises how much the clothes stick to her.

Rabbit hole Miku looking mf XD Couturetail is a spin on a cottontail. The thought behind this design was something purposely cutesy but also kind of historic since the bunny's weapon is a pickaxe, and I usually associate that with archaeology. So I decided to go with a sort of commedia dell'arte mask and some vaguely renaissance inspired bodice. I also thought it'd be funny if all users inherited Currio's perpetual blush.

Bellamy would love this miraculous it would probably be one of her favourites from this batch. She gets a useful non gross power and the perfect bludgeoning weapon!

Batillon time! No real meaning to the name other than bat + something cool sounding lol. I wanted to do something sleek and neat looking so when the hyper awareness powers get activated, the user's appearance can go a little feral predator looking. And obviously, vampire influences because duh XD. I wanted to avoid doing a full bat cape, so I just opted for a little capelet. The hair I specifically imagine flaring up into bat wing like shapes whenever hyper awareness gets activated. She's purple because of he vamp influences, plus every box needs a skin colour distorting kwami at least lol.

This miraculous would be a tie with the bunny miraculous when it comes to Bellamy's favourites. She's a bit of a know-it-all, so she would want an advantage like this XD

Last but not least, it's Courbette, named after a dressage movement! Design wise, I really like Dobbin, so I wanted to do something fairly similar and incorporate riding gear for this design, too. I added a harness to the miraculous belt for extra security and to kind of look like some straps you can usually see on horses. The same goes for the shoulder harness. I wanted to keep the sporty look Dobbin had, because I felt like that would make sense for the miraculous that represents strength, so I went with a kind of fancy sleeved leotard to get a gymnast look.

Bellamy would be mostly neutral about this miraculous, I think. She wouldn't hate it, but she wouldn't love it either. It's a bit too brutish for her style. She'd probably be a decent enough user, but I could not see her as it's perma holder XD

Phew, and that's it for now! This was very fun to mess around with, and I'm hoping to get the other part of the box out sooner rather than later but we'll see XD

Now yes they still hold some aspects of the originals, but I think they look cool.

💜So first we have Heart, I don't know what to really call any of them. (Figure it out later).

He's more or less literally the emotions, he loves too much yet so very little at times. Mostly depends on who he finds comfortable. Anxious, just stands there confused on what to do, how to approach, just anything. And overall has a kid like attitude to some things, not really feeling all that mature in some aspects. He also can easily hate whenever things happen that are...not to his liking.

His outfit could be based on something I wore before, like gowns or something. His eyes, when either under extreme emotions or literally heartbreak, can split and probably damage his vision. They're all hairy. That's cool. And purple is pretty.

💙Ah yes, the Mind, he's.... More of the critic and always questioning why or how something works, not to the extent that Heart does in a worried sense. But in a wonder, wanting to take in the knowledge of others. But he's easily irritated. Just by noises, they're all annoyed by sudden loud noises. As I am myself (they are supposed to reflect me. Sooo/lh) His outfit is basically what I wear sometimes in colder weather, jacket with whatever. No jewelry though. But he has it because it's nice. And uses big complex words for no reason but because he thinks it sounds good.

❤️Seeds, Hm? Oh Soul, they... are basically more closer to me. Funny shirt with random pun/design, baggy pants (depending) always carrying a bag of stuff. Comfort bag I guess. Little worm on a string and dinosaur, (I don't have actually, but have had before.) Soul is in his own head, always distracted but tries to stay on task, also an emotional being, having curious ideas, walks in a funny manner. He doesn't really care about how he looks, he just wants comfort. But if he doesn't care, others will. Soo social anxiety get inside the boi. (Not because of his attire, but of being told to do things normally). He says whatever on the top of their head, though he's weary to say anything. He also has a more feminine build then the rest of the two, Mind has a bit more masculine build, Heart has more of a chubby build. But Soul? He's skinny. To a degree. But he doesn't mind it.

iterator lineup! i wanted to keep their designs more consistent in my art so i made this as a reference. rambling about more details under the cut bc i love talking about my designs hhehehe

anyones free to use my designs as inspo if they like!

-moon and pebbles have matching cloaks! sibling iterators and their matching outfits my beloved <3

-pebbles' cloak is too big for him, which is why it always slumps off one shoulder and the sleeves often cover his hands. i like to think the ancients made the cloak before pebbles' puppet was completed, because they liked the idea of making it match with moon, but didnt quite get the size right!

-all of their antennae (minus sig of course) are able to rotate forwards and backwards, but only suns can rotate theirs in/outwards as well!

-pebbles and sig both have neon markings that look like top surgery scars because theyre my transmasc kings

-suns has claws and little paw bean markings on their hands

-suns is technically a 2nd gen iterator, only because they're structure was fully completed at the same time other 2nd gen iterators were being constructed. their construction was started in what was still considered the 1st gen

-i imagine iterators eyes are kind of screenlike, so they can optionally project pupils onto them to emote better if they want to! moon and sig do it the most (although moons pupils tend to flicker in and out post-collapse), pebbles mostly does it when he wants to roll his eyes, and suns uses it for intimidation factor and staring unsettlingly /lh

-i didnt include any of them here because im still brainstorming about it a little bit, but i imagine they all have little accessories or trinkets that were sent to them by the other iterators! both before the mass ascension, delivered by proper Ancient messengers, and post mass ascension, delivered by slugcats or similarly modified creatures

-sigs pronouns are he/they but they often use she/her for themself when its funny, or use feminine titles/honorifics just because they like them!

-because i love worm off the string aus a little too much, i thought about what their strengths would each be while designing them too </3 moon is the most robust and can take the most damage before her exterior shell even begins to dent. pebbles is the best shot, and is the fastest when it comes to just straight sprinting across flat ground. sig is the fastest when it comes to bumpier terrain and is the best at climbing and jumping. suns is the best at intimidation factor but also makes very good use of their clawed hands and sharp feet. hes the most skilled at fighting without weapons!

I FINALLY TOOK PICS!!!! I actually don’t have a TON of tattoos compared to my peers but I have a nice chunk! I’m just slow at getting tattooed bc I’m always working so I get like MAYBE two a year 😂

ANYWAYS!!! Ok so my legs: butterfly, demon goat girl, caterpillar, bill cipher (a SUPER OLD ONE), Minecraft block, and blue three eyed cat are all by me on me HAHA

I’ve made myself quit tattooing myself so I can get OTHER people’s art on me, but I wanted to tattoo my own shins just in case it was too terrible to continue with someone else (it’s not actually that bad!!!), and the other things like the Minecraft block were just so I could have complete control of it when it meant so much to me. The three eyed cat is actually my first “official” tattoo on skin I did as an apprentice! (Bill was a sneaky stick and poke I did in college OTL)

Creeper is from a friend/fellow tattoo artist who I trade tattoos with a bunch (but we still pay each other bc BILLS…), party dragon was from a dragon tattoo trade, worm on a string was from a friend who’s apprenticeship started same time as mine, pink axolotl is from my coworker who is sooooo freakin cool….i aspire to be like her so much…. And anime eyes heart gal is from a super cool friend that I went to college with! We reunited when I started tattooing and got a lot of laughs on how long it took to get our degrees and now we aren’t even “using” them HAHSG

Mob is from the same buddy that did the creeper and another one you’ll see in a sec, the kitties are from ANOTHER pal who started apprenticing same time as me! They’re actually arranged to be a subtle ⚢ sign bc IM A HOMOSEXUALLLLL~~ the symbol beneath these is the ol symbol from gravity falls that I ALSO stick and poked in college YEP…. Love Bug and the firefly are by a buddy from Virginia! One day I’m gonna get a “mean” version of love bug on my other thigh and it’s gonna say “bug off” 🤩 and the colorful leopard is from ANOTHER buddy trade that I did with a very cool friend!!

And finally MY ARMS!!!!

I have even less up here because getting arm tattoos makes it hard to work pfft….

I LOVE canti from OG FLCL (I love robots with sick designs so much…) and I love the show as well (introducing me to the Pillows was so PIVOTAL…) so I have him not once but TWICE form different ppl. The one with the flowers was from my mentor who turned out to be a sucky person so BOOO but I still love the tattoo~ the claptrap and OTHER canti are from a neat guy that I LOOOVE his style but his shop is sooo traditional and it’s lowkey uncomfortable even though he’s nice so idk if I’ll go back for a third. The Grievous is from the same buddy that did the creeper and mob!!! It’s so cool too bc my freckles make HIM have freckles and it’s adorable to me. And finally my VERY first tattoo I ever got, the big ufo abducting a pumpkin!!

This was done by Kelly McGrath in North Carolina and she was so sosososo sweet, gave me free prints, let me video call some of it to my family because we were VERY very far away from each other, AND I got to tell her years and years later that she inspired me so much that I became a tattoo artist myself!! And I even got to ask her a question or two and she responded so nice :,,)

SO YEAH I don’t have much rhyme or reason to my picks besides preferring color tattoos to be the majority, but my goal now is to collect tattoos from some very cool people and take my time filling up my body with art!! Eventually I would like to extend to my hands (palms included) and feet (JUST THE TOP I AM NOT DOING MY SOLES), neck, body, and maybe a few on my face near the outer perimeter/outer corner of eyes/above eyebrows! But that’ll probably be way off bc I work a LOT like I said at the beginning! Always the tattooer, never the tattooed HAHA

How Could I Hurt You?

*SPOILERS FOR DARK URGE PLAY THROUGH*

This one right here is for all the people who wanted a little more angst with their dark urge character. Personally I loved the story for the dark urge but I wish there was more of a reaction from companions at the fact that you died! So here's a little angsty treat for my fellow gamers who've put in over 300 hours into this game.

“I have a gift for you child. You will use it to lacerate this world.” No, the only word that echoed in your mind. You will not accept any gift from your so-called god. There is good in this world and your free mind knows this now. It is evident in the companions you have picked up along this journey. In the love of a pale elf, the kindness of an archdruid and the determination of tieflings. You have felt it in every gentle hug, tender kiss and smile that did not come from the release of death. 

“No, no, for once I’m free! I have seen life, I’ve seen beauty! I have loved, I have been loved…and I am never giving that back!” Fuck your god, fuck destiny, fuck everything that came before. The autonomy of your body was suddenly stripped away as you were raised into the air by invisible claws. Back breaking under the force answered only by cruel laughter.

“Can we kill this little freak!” The vampire spawn was ready to rush forward and imbed his knife into the puppet pulling the strings. You knew that he would be killed if he so much as put a kink in the plans of the cruel god. 

“Karlach…keep him away!”

Your father laughed at the weakness you showed so openly. “What a disappointing spawn you’ve become, my most promising, possessed by pathetic emotions. I remember when the very act of murder reflected in your gaze, oh the terror you inspired, the horror.”

The words Astarion spoke to his former master echoed within your mind, giving you courage, determination. “I am so much more than what you made me.”

“You are nothing without me, child. What I have given freely and what you have rejected most unknowingly I will take back. I will give you back to the rotting earth you hold so dearly, nothing but a dead fool, food for the worms. Even below the ground you will still feel the blood I rain upon this world, the fire that will consume the forests you called home. Your blood is mine and I will see it returned.”

You could feel the very blood he spoke of fall from your eyes like scarlett tears, your breath trapped inside your lungs begging to escape. The taste of copper fills your mouth as it dribbles down your chin. You’ve never felt so cold before, even in the harshest of winters. Bones seemed to snap and then as if clutched in a grasp of fury your heart shattered within your chest a silent scream caught in your throat. It was instant death but somehow still prolonged beyond the mortal plane.

There was no more chanting within the Bhall temple, no foreign word. Yet the scent of blood still lingered, the screams of your name like an echo being absorbed into the walls. 

You watched events unfold outside of your body and wondered if this is what all of your victims experienced after their death. Or if this torture was designed just for you by the lord of murder himself. 

Astarion had rushed over as soon as your body fell to the cold stone below. His hands cradling your body with a fierce protectiveness you had never seen before. His hands searched for a pulse, something, any sign of life you would give him. “Karlach give me a bloody scroll!”

“Astarion it won’t work…” she was right, it won’t. She had seen first hand instant death at the hands of devils, like a thread cut with a pair of scissors. 

“You don’t fucking know that, we have to try! Halsin do something you useless druid! Darling, look at me, please, please. I promised, I promised it wouldn’t have you my love, please…” Oh what you would give to embrace him, comfort him.

Light illuminated the blood that stained your face, warmth from Halsin’s palm, the warmth of nature itself. It would do nothing for you now. “Oak Father, hear me, aid me, protect this child of Silvanus.” The light flickered, a soft breeze tussling the hair surrounding your body. You had never seen such sadness on Halsin’s face, not even when his grove was threatened or when all hope had seemed lost in the darkness of the shadow curse. His hand engulfed the one that rested limply by your body, “forgive me my heart.” He brought the hand to his lips, warmth against deadly cold skin. 

“Your god is as useless as the rest of them! Potions, Karlach in my bag, hurry please…” his words were cut short as the large tiefling cradled the back of your head. Her forehead came to rest against yours, horns knocking against the ones atop your head. Soft lips brushed across the place where lines and creases would form the most.

“Rest easy Soldier…I’m so fucking proud of you.”

“Get away! Fuck you, fuck all of you, we have to help them, there must be something…” as if a candle had been extinguished so did his fight. “No, no…oh darling…I’m sorry, I’m so sorry my love, my light. Forgive me, please come back, I promise I’ll keep you safe please come back, don’t leave me, please.” They would tell stories about you, the hero who sacrificed everything to save Baulders Gate. Would they tell of the love you got to experience before it all ended? Would they speak of the friends you made? The adventures you had? 

Would they speak of the man who emerged from his crypt only to enter a temple and offer a choice?

The hardest choice you would ever have to make. Only it’s not a difficult one is it? After all it’s only one more battle until the rest of your life. Yours now, no one else's. You could close your eyes forever, spare yourself the view, the consequences. 

When the breath was returned to your lungs and the shattered pieces of your heart put back together one by one your body lurched forward with the first sight of your new life. 

Cool lips pressed against yours, fangs almost puncturing skin with the ferocity of a lover who held death in his arms. Words whispered against your mouth, “don’t you ever fucking do that to me again.”

A small, breathless laugh, “how could I leave my little star behind?” How could you leave this behind?

WORMTON AU MASTERPOST

"Spamton G. Spamton is a computer worm that merely pretends to be a spam program. His species, the malworms, are characterized by their long bodies, many legs, pointed nose, compound eyes, pointy smile, and their parasitoid life cycle. The Sweepstakes worm on a string represents what their larvae look like after they consume and kill their host from the inside out. Spamton himself is the last living member of the BIGSHOT malworm species, still seeking for a way to restore his kind and take control of Cyber City once more. He created his disguise and spam program persona in order to collect information, but inadvertently caught the attention of a group of addisons. He definitely only sees them as a resource to exploit. He is absolutely not attached. He is NOT terrified of what will happen if they find out what he really is. He's above some... kind, thoughtful, considera—PATHETIC advertisements. Obviously."

So she's a Dornish lady belonging to House Allyrion of Godsgrace. Their words are "No Foe May Pass". They're an ancient house, basically established by the Andals who settled in Dorne.

The Greenblood (river) lies near the banks of the castle, flowing east to the Summer Sea, with olive and lemon orchards surrounding the Keep. She spent her childhood mostly within Godsgrace surrounded by peace.

She's the first born child of the second son of house Allyrion so there isn't much left for her to inherit leaving her father to prioritise a good match as well as an elaborate education for her.

This is probably her maiden portrait or something he had commissioned to be sent should an eligible suitor present himself.

She's sent to the Martells on her seventeenth name day to secure a match, basically to learn how to integrate herself into larger circles of influence. (The Martells are her maternal cousins, Aliandra Martell being her first cousin who she houses with, as she's being prepared to rule by her father.)

Around the time of the dance of the dragons when Otto Hightower writes to Qoren Martell for his support, he considers rejecting it before deciding to consider the benefits of increased trade and influence should the greens succeed. He offers conditional support sighting his reluctance to engage with the Targaryens due to their historical rivalry but willingness to negotiate should Otto's plans succeed.

After he learns of the battle at Driftmark, he plans to send Aliandra reluctantly as an envoy at her behest, to negotiate a deal with the greens in kings landing. She accompanies her cousin to the city much to the dislike of her own family.

After arriving in kings landing and learning of the death of Prince jacaerys which was kept hidden, both women find themselves stuck. Aliandra wishes to lend her support to Rhaenyra, return home and change the terms of the deal, angry at the greens for keeping valuable information hidden, yet both find themselves under the eye of the newly appointed Prince Regent who forces them to honor the terms their house laid out or come up with a revised and mutually beneficial plan to honor their shared agreement.

Homesick!

I just gotta say I love the pun of this episode’s title; I thought Homesick would allude to it being about Luz missing home, but it was actually a joke on Hooty being sick!

That said, we DID get what would’ve been our first look at Manny, as well as an early version of Camila lore! Turns out she was going to be a nurse, but in the end I think I like veterinarian better. Still, I remember discussing healing back during S1A as a potential track for Luz because of this, so to see that theme be apparent with both parents was cool!

Manny’s face being shrouded also seems to indicate that the dramatic reveal behind him -the illness- was always planned, at least since the pilots. Luz said he drove an ambulance, past tense, which seems like some dark irony given he probably needed one at one point. Remember how some of us theorized after Reaching Out that the Abomaton alarm reminded Luz of an ambulance siren related to her father? Man… On the plus side! We can guess Camila and Manny met through their professions, so we could try applying that to canon as well! Compassion is such a Noceda trait I love it.

Likewise, I appreciate how these two leaked storyboards have Luz and Eda covering for each other! One sticks their neck out because something means a lot for the other, but the other decides it’s not so important they’d sacrifice the one for it… With this episode, Eda doesn’t want Luz to look like a dunce but Luz is honest and can’t bear to see her mentor be mocked either, and is trying to take responsibility for what she feels is HER mistake too! It’s really sweet seeing Eda inadvertently teach Luz the Healing glyph.

Speaking of, it seems we would’ve gotten individual glyphs for all spells, as the fandom once assumed! I guess the show did glyph combos to explain why Luz doesn’t immediately find everything, as well as create a sort of fun system behind Luz having to mix and match things. And we even got to see what we always wanted; Luz making an ENORMOUS glyph around her enemy! Goes to show my speculation that since glyphs rely on the magic around them, they aren’t physically taxing; Something we see brought up with Eda’s own magic.

Caduceia reminded me of an early Hermonculus, being a teacher who didn’t really care much for the actual students and even seemed to enjoy mocking them! She looks like Raine, so much that I wonder if the design was repurposed for them because it was such a nice one! I dig the play on Caduceus, with Snakeslie as a palisman! Snakeslie looks so much like a worm on a string. Given Luz and Caduceia are both healers, it’s neat they have a snake in common, though Caduceia’s seems to allude to her being a snake (liar); Her palisman’s name is literally Snakeslie. Snakes lie. Glad to see Stringbean with the positive rep!

I also love the gag of King calling himself the King of whatever’s convenient, and it was really cute seeing him want to prove his own worth! Because two witches, it’d be easy to feel like he has nothing to offer, which is part of Sense and Insensivity in canon! There’s parallels between the A and B-plots, with Luz and King feeling ineffectual and their owl friend supporting them, only to be helped as well! Eda and Owlbert are linked and hell so are the demon hunters and Caduceia!

The House Demon lore was neat, even if it was stuff we already figured out with canon; House Demons being like hermit crabs, and also rare! Seeing healing magic be used to make someone sick and even control their mucus/phlegm was disgusting yet fascinating! And I was delighted to see the demon hunters again, they’re underrated side characters imo and we even got a crew nickname for another one of them!

I also like the bit of the moral here; That sometimes, it’s not that a student is bad or isn’t trying, sometimes the teacher is failing them. Maybe some people think this generation is raised too soft and coddled, but I think it’s an important reassurance for a lot of kids who struggle and blame themselves for it; I’ve taken teaching classes before, and we were taught to be vigilant with ourselves as potentially inadequate for students. It’s the onus of the teacher to adapt to a kid’s needs after all, and actually care!!!

What an unexpected delight! I never imagined the crew made storyboards for additional episodes and not just the pilot! This one has no voice alas, but it’s better than nothing and I feel storyboards have such a nice charm to themselves as well! I really thought the pilot would be my last episode review, but I keep getting pleasantly surprised and gifted by this show…!

SotE Spoilers (Just in case)

After finishing SotE a week or two ago and reflecting on the experience I wanted to share my issues with the DLC. I'll leave out if a boss frustrated me for whatever reason outside of my first point, as I feel like that will definitely improve with reruns or at least solidify my opinions, but it's not like a couple bad bosses are a major issue for me anyway. With that said, here's what bothers me about SotE: -Bad hitboxes and weird timings on some bosses, this definitely did not feel like something I just need to learn like e.g. Messmer's or Rellana's long combo strings. Gaius and the Golden Hippo were especially bad in the hitbox department, Putrescent Knight and Scadutree Avatar meanwhile had some REAL dodgy timings, and Radahn's cross slash feels entirely undodgeable. Bayle, while he is a favorite of mine, also definitely had timings I felt were really tight considering his HP, but I've been hearing a lot of people say he isn't as hard and his tight openings feel designed with Igon in mind so I imagine that will improve on reruns. -There really isn't much of a reason or incentive to explore for me, while the new cookbooks and spells are cool that's moreso questline or enemy drops, most overworld item pick-ups are just upgrade mats i can literally just buy and especially the amount of gloveworts bothers me, there's enough of them in basegame to max every wortwhile summon anyway and I personally don't use summons to begin with. -Adding to the previous point, there's a lot of stretches of land that just feel so empty, the most notable example are definitely the abyssal woods, an area you can't just run through really should have more in it in my opinion, but all the other overworld areas could use a lot more too. I also really don't get why the dungeons feel almost hidden away, but that's not a huge deal since they're at least all unique. -Scadutree blessing is a cool and interesting idea on paper, but for one I feel like 50 is a bit of a bloated value to collect all of them and their scaling is a bit op after the latest patch. That does kinda balance out though since it means I can collect like half of them and still be fine, but I still think the system is a bit messy. -The new selection of minibosses is pretty poor, Furnace Golems are ass, Death Knights and Ghostflame Dragons are cool at least, the rest is kind of boring and the amount of annoying NPC fights kinda bothers me (also the Gank Squad at the end is horrible)

-Some weapon classes still feel super undercooked. I honestly don't mind the new classes only having a small handful as it reduces the bloat of useless enemy drop weps you had in basegame and replaces them with solid infusable weapons, but whips, bows and etc actually feeling functional would have been nice With all that said I still love SotE and there's way more positives than these few negatives that i feel are more or less fairly objective. I have other personal gripes with the narrative and some other things but that's another can of worms.

Oh… that’s horrible! I’ll probably get Hugh Manson – the guy who builds all my bass guitars – to build me some monstrous instrument that encapsulated all three! Hugh and his brother Andy Manson once actually designed me a triple-necked guitar with 12-string guitar, six-string guitar and mandolin on it! Andy also designed a triple-necked mandolin. But I guess if it really came down to it on a desert island, it would have to be the piano, because you can do so much on it. You’re a whole band. The bass is not much fun on your own.

John, it’s so good to see you so engaged with today. Any advice for old farts who can’t move on? (Andrew Loog Oldham)

Who are you calling an old fart? I dunno, Andy, you tell me! Ha ha. He’s done a good job of staying up to date. Andrew, of course, gave me the name John Paul Jones. I was John Baldwin, until Andrew saw a poster for the French film version of John Paul Jones. I thought it ’d look great in CinemaScope, as I wanted to do music for films. I imagined it saying “Music By John Paul Jones”, over the whole screen. I never realised then that he was the Horatio Nelson of America!

I know that you’ve been getting heavily into bluegrass lately – who are some of your favourite bluegrass artists of all time? (Ryan Godek, Wilmington, Delaware)

Apart from Bill Monroe, you mean? Oh, there’s loads. I’m friends with the Del McCoury band, I love that style of classic bluegrass. I love Sam Bush’s Newgrass stuff. And of course there’s Nickel Creek, Chris Feely, Mike Marshall. I love it all, really. One thing I like about bluegrass is that you don’t require amplifiers, drums and trucks. You can pull an instrument out of a box and get on with some instant music making. I carry a mandolin around wherever I go. I also like the fact bluegrass musicians play more than one instrument. There’s a tradition of them swapping instruments. In bluegrass bands I swap between double bass, fiddle and banjo.

One Butthole Surfers anecdote, please? (Dave Grohl)

Ha! I was brought in to produce the Butthole Surfers’ 1993 album, Independent Worm Saloon. I guess it was to give it a heavy rock vibe, but it didn’t work like that. They were actually incredibly hard-working in the studio, but I do recall running up a phenomenal bar-bill at the San Rafael studio. And then there was Gibby [Haynes, Butthole Surfers’ frontman] and his… eccentric studio behaviour. Gibby did one vocal take shouting into his guitar. He held it out in front of his face and screamed at it. Ha! He was trying to find out if it picked up through the pick-ups, which it kind of did. And that was pretty good.

How’s the violin coming along? (Sean, Berkshire)

I started about three years ago. With the guitar, or the piano, you can sound OK quite quickly. With the violin, it takes much longer. Once you get past the first six months of scraping, of muttering to yourself, “What is this fucking horrible noise on my shoulder?” you get the odd musical bit, and you think, ‘Oh, this is starting to get good.’ And you continue with it for a while. I’m getting into country fiddle playing, Celtic folk songs, a bit of swing. Basic stuff, but very satisfying.

Why not record a second ‘Automatic For The People’ with REM? (Franz Greul, Austria)

They haven’t asked me! But doing the string arrangements for that album was a great experience, actually. They sent me the demos of their songs, and we went into a studio in Atlanta, with members of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. They were great songs, something you can really get your teeth into as an arranger. And I’ve been good friends with them ever since.

How did you first meet Josh Homme? And is he still a notorious party monster? (Rob Hirst, Kippax, Leeds)

Well, I think we’ve all calmed down rather a lot. Dave introduced me to Josh at his 40th birthday party. It was a ridiculous themed place where they have jousting with knights. As Dave said, it was like somewhere you’d have your 14th birthday party. Or maybe even your 4th. Anyway, Dave sat Josh and I together for a blind date. Which was reasonably embarrassing for both of us, surrounded by people going “prithee this” and challenging each other to duels. But we survived the trauma and went into the studio the next day, and just started jamming. And I knew immediately it was going to be something special.

If Them Crooked Vultures had Spice Girls-like nicknames what would they be? (Paul Jones, Liverpool)

Dave would be Smiley Vulture. He can’t stop grinning. Josh would be Slinky Vulture. He’s a slinky kinda guy. And I’d be Speedy, I guess. Or Jumpy. So there you go. Smiley, Slinky and Speedy. Or does that sound more like the dwarfs?

I remember you being a pretty funky bass genius back in the day! What memories do you have of those sessions? (Donovan)

The sessions with Don and Mickie Most were great, because we were given a free hand. I usually got leeway, because I was the sort of Motown/Stax specialist, so producers in the mid ’60s would get me in for cover versions of American records, and none of them could write bass parts convincingly enough, so I was London’s answer to James Jamerson, I guess! And I was certainly encouraged to get kinda… funky when I worked with Donovan.

How did it feel to see Jimmy Page and Robert Plant venture off in their own project in the ‘90s without mentioning a word of it to you? (Danny Luscombe, Hull)

Oh yeah, I was pissed off about it. The surprise was in not being told. It’s ancient history now, but it was a bit annoying to find out about it while reading the papers. It came just after Robert and I had been discussing the idea of doing an Unplugged project. Then I’m on tour in Germany with Diamanda Galás, I turn on the TV and see Robert and Jimmy doing it, with someone else playing all my parts! I was pissed off at the time. You would be, woudn’t you? But… it’s all in the past, isn’t it?

Did you listen to much work by Josh Homme or Dave Grohl before you were contacted in relation to joining Them Crooked Vultures, and if so, how did you honestly rate it? (Ralph Ryan, Lisronagh, County Tipperary)

I did like the Foo Fighters and Queens Of The Stone Age, before I’d met either of them. There’s a tendency for people – especially musicians from my generation – to say that there has been this terrible decline in musicianship, that today’s bands haven’t got the chops, blah blah blah. But that’s not true at all. There’s always some people for whom technique on an instrument isn’t necessary. They can get their ideas across without being able to have the chops. But Josh really does have the chops, he just doesn’t feel the need to flash them about all the time. In fact, there were a few riffs he gave me that I had to simplify, because they were bloody difficult to play. I really had to work at it, where he could just flick it off. He is an astonishing musician.

Were you serious when you told Peter Grant that you wanted to jack it in to become choirmaster at Winchester Cathedral? (Brian Fisher, Manchester)

Ha! That was a tongue-in-cheek joke, although I was serious about leaving Led Zeppelin in 1973 unless things changed. But Peter did sort things out pretty quickly. What kind of choirmaster would I have made? A bloody good one! Listen, any way that they’ll pay you for making music is just the best situation in the world. I’d do it for nothing. I don’t care what music it is. I just love it all. The rubbing of notes together. I love it all. I would be very passionate about whatever I decided to do.

What was the worst session you ever did as a jobbing session player? (Adam Burns, Castleford, West Yorkshire)

I generally have fun memories of that time. I’d criss-cross London playing two or three sessions a day, going between Trident and Olympic and Abbey Road and Philips in Marble Arch, you know. You’d be backing Shirley Bassey, Cat Stevens, Lulu, whoever was paying you. The worst experience was a Muzak session. With Muzak sessions, the music was deliberately boring. I distinctly remember one session where I embellished the bass part a little bit, just so that it wasn’t so boring for me to play. They said, “No, you can’t do that. Any interest in the music will distract people’s attention from when they’re meant to be eating.” Or standing in a fucking lift. For fuck’s sake! So I was like, “OK, thanks, bye!”

Mud endeared me to his character very quickly, mostly because his design was very familiar to me. I have an OC made out of Matt that bascially has that same design. as soon as i connected the cheekbones and big ass coat to said OC things were already kind of set in stone. one of the first pics i drew of Mud actually included the OC for a lil design comparison.

and as if that weren't enough, then he eats money. real fuckin spamton moment. i knew my fate was sealed right then and there

His sleight of hand tricks! So cute! So sleazy! And very impressive! I have like a big thing for cool hand things like that. Like for example i genuinely think juggling is cool as fuck and someone could probably geniunely seduce me by juggling in front of me. these kinds of coin flipping and hiding tricks are in a similar ballpark. i find them so impressive theyre kinda hot to me

and also also also the whole thing with paradise lost. not only is it so cute how nervous he gets with dilligence, but it's so interesting too!! What is his past with that place? Where did his clear discomfort with Dilligence come from? Why does he have a guard uniform beforehand? Why did Dilligence stare at his pussy like that? What's his deal with Joshua? What is it he won't ever forgive him for? i assume we will learn at least some of those things if the show gets funded and makes more episodes (and god do i hope that happens i wish i werent broke so i could support the show by buying merch. i want 20 mud figures)

his scared and disturbed moments. real frightened boy. it is not THAT hard to freak him out apparently. especially his concern when ken kills temperance is so sweet to me. mud generally seems so empathetic, like when he mentions how he's going to miss jack (let me also point out his hands in several of these scared screencaps. i loooooove detailed hands with long "spider fingers")

oh but also his angery moments. i really love the bit where he yells out that angel storm announcement, both the voice and his facial expressions are so hot to me. he can yell at me a little <3 itll be hot <3

where are his bones? doesnt matter, i love this too much. there was no reason for him to do a flip over the car like that <333333333

honest to fucking god mud feels like a character designed in a lab for me and theres something so exciting yet also embarassing about that. yeah heres a sleazy yet easily frightened middle aged (for immortal standards) man. you could easily throw him against a wall and he would make a wet splat. have fun being normal about him

alright so i love Aspen’s design so much. some things about him are that he has to always wear colorful clothing and no black and white or desaturated colors. he LOVES color. he always needs to wear green at all times, and silly hats before he turns into a werewolf.

he also always wears silly object earrings like the ones in the picrews (i have more i’ll post some other time): skulls, leaves, mushrooms, pizza, fruit, worm on a string etc. he has heterochromia: one green eye and one blue eye. the way i remember which eye is blue is that i just think about sans and his blue eye because i’m cringe like that.

he’s always in the woods being rambunctious and would definitely have a bunch of leaves constantly stuck in his curly hair because he’s the type of autistic to not shower for days because of sensory stuff (same). Silas likes the smell of rotting corpses but not… stinky alive human Aspen so he makes him shower everyday because Aspen smells GOOD when he’s not smelling like some sort of wet dog (his blood is mainly what makes him smell so good to Silas. also i have like no sense of smell if that means anything)

Aspen is just so silly he’s literally one of my favorite ocs fr. he’s so funny and hyper and full of soo much energy all the time and he’s the embodiment of golden retriever energy. before he met Silas he got into so much trouble running around the woods and scraping his knees and being a menace. i just really wanna howl at the moon with this guy

one of the things that he keeps very secret as he's worried of being laughed at is he very much likes the ahit universe's equivalent of 'monster high' although one could probably tell that a bit by some of his outfit designs but he tries to keep that a secret. also another that he is embarrassed to admit is that one time nicole showed him one of her favorite soap operas and though he feigned disinterest in the show, he actually became very invested in the drama of it all and regularly watches it in secret LOLL though he always has to still feign ignorance when nicole tells him about things that happened in her favorite soap and he has to come up with excuses to watch it when it comes on LOL.

i associate her any pretty pink flowers!!!! tho she mostly likes carnations herself. but if there's a flower that's vibrant and pink, i definitely see that as a flower she would love. hibiscus, orchids, camellia and irises chrysanthemums are also flowers i can see fitting her. she also loves to give her patients who are really sick flowers that mean healing or even make them teas with flowers that have health benefits<3

- they met in their second week of university when kanae decided they should ask the new guy to join them for lunch and at first they were kinda awkward around each other, then they became friends when sanemi found out that the university was gonna forbid obanai from bringing kaburamaru with him and because he's been fighting principals all his life (getting his school to approve his recording devices was a struggle) he straight up dragged obanai to the dean's office and pestered the officials into approving kaburamaru as a service animal

- obanai frequently makes jokes about sanemi loving his motorcycle a little too much and calls him wheelie boy but it's all just an elaborate ruse to avoid admitting that he's deathly afraid of getting on the damn thing

(- sanemi does see through it eventually but obanai literally saw him fight for his life on a three step ladder so he's not really in a position to say anything about it)

- nah but fr bullying each other is their love language but they actually become wildly protective of each other when they're in uncomfortable situations

- obanai hates hates HATES any kind of vehicle and public transport is literally his personal hell and whenever they're on a bus together sanemi will go full scary dog and physically shoulder people out of the way so obanai gets to have some space

- sanemi can read but he's really slow and every time they go out to eat and sanemi has trouble with the menu obanai calls the waiter over and has him explain every single dish to him because "i grew up in a cult mister, we ate rats and potato peel"

- sanemi loves doing this thing where he puts his elbow on obanai's shoulder when they're standing next to each other and he will have the most relaxed conversation with someone while obanai is fuming next to him

- sanemi knows he can get away with this stuff because obanai isn't one to make a scene in public but he saves all of these little encounters in his memory for when they're alone and then. well.

- people would think sanemi wrecks obanai the most but it's actually the other way round because 1) obanai has kaburamaru as support so that's already an advantage and 2) as much as he hates to admit it (which is why he never admits it) sanemi is just more ticklish than obanai and obanai is mean about it

- obanai loves visiting sanemi's family with him, he's awful with kids but he likes having the shinazugawa siblings around and just seeing how they have fun together and how much they care about each other

- obanai's room is always way too warm and humid because of kaburamaru and the first thing sanemi does every thursday (designated cleaning day) is barge into his room and open the window while obanai cusses him out and wraps kaburamaru in every blanket he can find (the snake is completely fine)

- sanemi helps obanai set up dates with mitsuri, he knows all of her favorite restaurants, her favorite flowers and what cute little sanrio gadgets he could get her as a gift

- obanai isn't really useful in planning dates with kanae but he's really good at knocking sense into sanemi when he's shutting himself off or getting into his own head too much over things that just aren't as bad as his mind makes them out to be

- obanai struggles with sensitivity towards certain topics but most of it stems from him simply not knowing a lot about these topics, for example he'll occasionally drop slurs without knowing they're offensive and whenever that happens sanemi is there to subtly ram his elbow into obanai's ribs

- "sabito said he was gonna do a small dinner for pride month." - "pride month? oh right that's the month for the fag-" *elbow* "the lgbtq... i... a...?" *bisexual nod of approval from sanemi*

- obanai later wrecks sanemi for allegedly breaking his ribs but he's really trying his best to be an ally

-Sanemi fighting tooth and nail for Kamaramaru is so CANON! He will get physical if required but overall will be as annoying about it as possible until said dean gives in! He's got a whole presentation on service animals and stats on their effect for reducing anxiety and all that until the dean is just "Fine fine, just don't lose it."

-WHEELY BOY! KERKJKEJRJKEJKREJKR I love that HELP! Also mood, Obanai- motorcycles are terrifying. Cool as heck to look at, but utterly terrifying kakjrkjer (jarjkeajkrjkej SANEMI! Two steps is far enough! One step more? Nope- not doing it; far too tall. He's sweating bullets and acting like he's on the edge of a mountain and Obanai's just holding him from behind like: "It's one foot in the air, Sanemi-" "JUST HOLD ONTO ME!")

-Sanemi being a guard dog for Obanai while on public transport is so good holy- he's used to doing so for Mitsuri and Kanae cause creeps be creeping until they get a look at Sanemi's K-9 s and Obanai kinda loves how scary the taller man makes himself but then immediately is all: "Ma'am do you need to sit down?" the second an elderly woman come on board. He may or may not have told the bus bully to "move over before I throw you out the window" once and then proceeded to do so.

-HELP OBANAI WRECKING SANEMI EKJRKERKEJKRJKE He feels so bold until Obanai whips out the snake- all his bravo just whooooosh~

-Obanai struggling with the Shinazugawa siblings but in a meaningful and sweet way is so cute??? And Sanemi just busting in like: "WHAT UP- good lord it's warm in here." Obanai panick wrapping Kamaramu in blankets when Sanemi opens a window is a mental image I love so much kmakjleakrjeajrkjr

-Them helping each other out on dates/getting out of their heads is so CUTE! I can absolutely see Obanai's blunt honestly shaking Sanemi out of whatever mental stump he's in- and Sanemi playing wing man in return for him and Mitsuri is so sweet??? He's the one that knows exactly what Mitsuri would love and Obanai's forever grateful for it karjeareajrjelrf

-Pfft- god bless Obanai; he means well, he just doesn't quite get it at first. Granted, once you correct him he'll make it his personal mission to follow that correction and educate himself the best he can. He's messy but he's trying his best as an ally- and that's all one can really ask for, right?
