ANOTHER HERMITCRAFT AU BABY

This one's focused on S9's Soup Group (no my pearl favoritism is not showing shut up).

Gem and Impulse are the dual leaders of a nation of elves and dwarves. At the start of whatever conflict sparks the elf/dwarf rivalry in this world, those who don't feel any hatred for the other race form their own joint people. They are lead by Impulse, a respected forgemaster known for his compassion and leadership, and Gemini, a ranger and skirmisher famed for her fairness and combat skill.

When searching for a place to settle, the new nation comes across a valley with a bizarre landscape; strange glowing plants, trees in all the wrong colours, mushrooms as tall as castles. They set up camp for the night just outside it, planning to send scouts in the morning.

Late at night a woman wanders into the middle of camp, seating herself near Gem and Impulse. She introduces herself as Pearl, a human researcher, studying the odd biome and the ancient ruins dotted around it. There's something off about her manner in a way neither of the leaders are quite sure of, but she seems nice enough. Gem seems to trust her less, but is still polite. When Pearl hears of their plight, she describes the mountain on the opposite side of the valley; a lush forest resting above a winding network of caverns. She invites them to examine it, see if it would make for a good home for them. In exchange for the tip, she asks them to stay out of the bizarre forest, not wanting the ruins disturbed. They agree, and after another hour of friendly discussion, the woman leaves. When questioned later, the guards at the edges of the camp have no knowledge of her ever entering or leaving.

When they do scout out the mountain, it's just as Pearl had described; beautiful ancient trees and mineral-rich stone, a perfect place for their travel-weary people to live. Soon enough construction is underway. Every few days, Pearl appears again, always completely unnoticed by guards or builders until she starts speaking to Gem and Impulse. This unnerves them of course, but after enough cheeky grins and 'Don't worry about it, mate's they eventually just stop asking and learn to live with it.

Will probably make a part 2 of this later, I have so much more to talk about her and not enough time!

I love Soup Group, because a cursory glance would make people think Gem Holds the braincell, she doesn't not, Impulse used to hold it but he gave it to Bdubs for an gift which left the Soup Group braincelless but Bdubs eventually traded it to Etho for a Saddle who traded it to Cleo in exchange for a bodyguard, Cleo then threw it at Jevin in an attempt on his life, he then traded it to Wels for a Snickers bar who eventually gave it to X who handed it to Doc for safekeeping who gave it to Ren who kept it until Scar stole it and traded it to Grian for shenanigans, Grian eventually gave it to Mumbo as a welcome home gift and Gem bullied Mumbo into getting it back. Everyone is about 60% sure Tango had the braincell at one time but no one can track where.

Pearl says she had it once but never said anything so who can tell.
