In my current story the lovers of my main romantic storyline (which is honestly equally important to the platonic relationships that build, but that is neither here nor there) met when they were like pre-teens/tweens and became good friends, then first loves, then betrayed each other, became enemies who still loved each other, grew up, matured, and realized they still loved each other, and though they don't see each other often anymore they are still there for each other when they need each other.

so idk what to call that 😂 but i know it's beautiful and it's painful in equal measures.

Writers: how did your main character feel in love

I been thinking about romance lately, and also how should I add some to my book. It always spices things up, how could I not! But the thing is, with that in mind, I became very intrigued about how other writers do it, specially how characters fall for one another in other stories. So, writers of Tumblr, tell me:

The other day my sister and I discussed Hetalia characters if they were in the Riordanverse. They would have to be not-countries.

Japan /Honda Kiku is the son of Hephestaus.

Prussia / Gilbert Beilschmidt is son of Ares or Tyr

England / Arthur Kirkland son of Hecate

Scandinavia trio are descendants of Norse gods. My sister and I immediately forgot who would be the godly parents the day after discussion.

Finland/ Timo likes to introduce himself as Timo Väinämöinen, son of Väinämöinen. Only to get interrupted by his friends, "Stop telling everyone you're named after your dad!!" or somethig idk. but that's not actually his last name (in this universe). Idk if he really is the son of Väinämöinen in this universe. it be more funny if he actually wasn't and that's why his friends get so frustrated.

Riordan doesnt really write demigods of the Egyptians gods, but it would be neat if Egypt/ Muhammad Hassan (insert last name) was a descendant of one of the Egyptian deities. We discussed other characters and their godly parent, but forgot the next day.

Greece/ Herakles. Son of Hera. Hear me out!! He arrives to Camp Half-Blood, and is placed in the Hermes camp due to his "unknown" lineage. He wasn't claimed immediately, but it left bunch campers wondering and thinking. who? why? (some campers wanted to give him a nickname to avoid confusion with the great hero Herakles/ Hercules. This Herakles suggested Karpouzi because watermelons are his favorite fruits. it doesn't spread well, but there are many jokes. "Herakles Karpussy cat" Some believed that he's the son of Zeus. Until Hera arrived in the camp to loudly and publicly claim him. How is this possible? Isn't she married and faithful? isn't she picky about her family? Never is there a demigod of Hera?

"I made him from clay and brought him to life. He is solely my son, not Zeus's. Look at him. He is perfect."

This poor Greek boy will grow up hearing lots of comments from her: "Where is Herakles? the good heracles, not the other one. "My heracles. the good one. "the perfect one. mine. "I made him myself, and got blessings from the other gods and goddesses. he is perfect. he id never wrong,"

Why Isn’t Thetis Remembered As Medusa Is?

A woman so devoted to her god/goddess (Zeus and Athena respectively) that they’ve given selflessly and wholly to them, only to be repaid in rape and despair. Both pursued by Poseidon. Both intimately involved in the stories of two of the most prominent and powerful heroes in all Greek mythology (Achilles and Perseus respectively), both ultimately coming to an unhappy ending because of said heroes (Achilles’ death and Medusa’s death at the hands of Perseus). Both seem to exist peacefully and with devoted reverence to the gods only to be persecuted by the very gods who they’d demonstrated their allegiance to.

It just fills me with a pang of deep sorrow that Thetis is remembered simply as “Achilles’ mother,” and not for the many incredible myths she’s had a hand in.

Zagreus as an underworld god who knows thanatos is an invention of supergiant for their game Hades.

Iirc Aphrodites actually married to hephestaus so her and ares are constantly cheating.

I think the closest to a healthy couple on the list is achilles and patroculous but idk.

Maybe none of them being healthy is the joke?

Ok but my favourite story about Hera with her son haphestous, is that Hera threw him from mount Olympus upon seeing how ugly her son was at his birth. He fell into the waters below and was found by Sea nymphs, who raised him. From a young age Hephestous would create beautiful jewelry for the sea nymphs, who one day went up to mount Olympus for a party. Upon seeing the gorgouse jewelry, Hera asked them who made it and when she found out it was her son she took him back and made him a god of mount Olympus.

He was we'd to Aphyodite when she was brought to mount Olympus. Hera, realizing her beauty could cause trouble with Zeus, demmanded that she be married off. Zeus decided to marry her to hephestaus, though Aphrodite's heart called for Ares.

Taking from Zeus', Aphrodite would meet with Ares while hephestaus was out and kale love. Knowing something was up, Hephestaus put a net over his bed one day before leaving, and as soon as Aphrodite and ares got into bed it fell down on them. Trapping them

Hephestaus then discovered them in his trap and called in all of the gods to see them in their shame, only releasing them when Apollo convinced him to.

Nico hated helping Will in the infirmary. It was for more than just one reason too. Will was very nitpicky with how you were supposed to act in the infirmary. He didn’t like when people touched his stuff and if there were too many people in the infirmary, Will got heated and tense.

So, Nico tended to avoid the infirmary.

The problem with avoiding the infirmary was the fact that Will Solace spent all his time in the infirmary and unfortunately, the two of them were dating. So, Nico had to spend time in the infirmary so he could be around his boyfriend. It was annoying. Nico didn’t like it. A son of Hades shouldn’t be spending all his time in the infirmary where people were trying not to die.

Nico had propped himself in the corner of the infirmary where all of the medical supplies were. The camp had just finished one of it’s very dangerous camp activities. It was a new one that had been introduced, much to the campers avid protests.

Chiron, their activities director, had been in search of a new activity for the campers to do. He asked for people to come forward for their own ideas. Most campers chose to stay in their own lane but there was one camper who was up for the challenge.

Eight year old Harvey, son of Hephestaus, decided to host a three legged death race in the Labyrinth, as if that was not at all going to kill campers. Nico and Will paired up together, naturally, and had almost won if not for the fact that the race had to be called off because one camper just had to get both his arms chopped off.

Nico glanced over at Will who was tending to Paolo. Paolo’s arms were still intact and luckily he was still breathing, which was always a good sign. He seemed to have passed out for the time being which was fortunate. As Will had been tending to the Brazilian camper, Nico could just sense him on the brink of the death from the amount of blood loss.

Under Will’s care though, all campers always healed, no matter how bad the wound they had gotten was. Apollo was kind enough to grant Will that power, along with begrudgingly good looks.

Will looked a bit worse for wear, pale and clearly exhausted from using his power so much on Paolo.

Nico knew he looked just like Nico did whenever he shadow travelled. Nico stood to his feet, wary of getting close to any of the campers. He knew he couldn’t hurt them unless he tried to, but he was always insecure about being around the campers. The campers had accepted him, sure, but the last thing Nico wanted was to be shamed again because he got too close to someone who was injured and he, somehow, caused their death.

That wasn’t how Nico’s powers worked but in this world anything could happen.

“Hey,” Nico said, putting a hand on Will’s arm. “C’mon, you need rest,” Nico hated the way that his voice always softened when he spoke to him. He was the only person who managed to make Nico soft and it was so… bleh.

Will gave Nico a tired grin. “I’m okay,” he said.

“Will,” he warned. He gently tugged Will to follow him out of the infirmary. “You’ve been working for hours. C’mon you can rest in my cabin.”

Will pulled back shaking his head. “No, no,” he said with a shake of his head. “Your cabin gives me the creeps. I’ll just rest in my bunk.”

Nico bit the inside of his cheek and watched as Will turned on his heel and started walking toward where the Apollo cabin’s bunks were. Nico knew it was just an offhand comment, Nico’s cabin was pretty creepy. He had summoned a few ghosts there a couple times. Nico was just hoping he could spend some alone time with Will away from the Apollo cabin.

Nico knew he was… well, a crap of a boyfriend. Nico was terrible at expressing his emotions and more than half the time he was just a scowling blushing mess when he was around Will. In truth, he was just worried about letting his guard down half the time. Will knew this and had been okay with it. Nico wanted to be a better boyfriend.

How do you do that, though?

Nico loathed the idea of asking the Aphrodite cabin for love advice. He barely got out of them pestering him about who he could be crushing on before Will came forward and asked him to be his boyfriend. He didn’t want them to be babying him for not knowing how to be… well however a boyfriend was supposed to be.

Nico scowled. Gee, Nico thought bitterly. I thought dating was supposed to be easy. I can’t do anything right.

Nico went after Will, deciding he was just going to tell him that he would just spend the rest of the afternoon in his cabin. If Will didn’t want to spend time with Nico then fine, Nico will happily spend time in his creepy cabin alone.

When he got to Will’s bunk though, upon the sight of the son of Hades, Will opened his arms, inviting Nico in.

Nico felt his heart do some sort of somersault in his chest and his cheeks burned. He felt the bitter anger going away and he quietly laid himself beside Will and hugged him. He instantly felt better.

“My cabin isn’t that creepy you know,” Nico grumbled, burying his head in Will’s chest. He and Will were roughly the same height but Nico enjoyed it more when he was being held. He rarely got hugs due to Nico not liking when people touched him. “It’s just the Hades aesthetic.”

He felt Will’s chest move and he heard him laugh. It was a tired laugh. The kind you hear when you wake up in the early mornings with your soulmate. It was the kind that was described in books, the kind you see in movies. It made Nico realize for a moment that he was in his own movie, just for a moment.

It almost felt unreal.

“The Hades aesthetic,” Will mumbled sleepily. “That’s cute.”

Nico felt himself smile. “Get some rest, blondie.”

It took a full three seconds before Will did. Nico laid there with him, feeling safe in his arms and realizing maybe, he could do this boyfriend thing. He just needed a bit more practice.
