Ok so I'm pretty happy with my Rottmnt Spooky month/Yokai AU illustrations I made. And after the last one I posted, I kept an eyes on the notes bc I was curious about which pieces had the most success (and ok, I was checking what people said in the tags 👉👈)...And uh. There is something pretty funny going on. So this was the situation 2 days ago.

I wasn't surprised when I saw Don had the most notes, not gonna lie. I mean, this is Don. He's a fan favorite. I'm pretty sure that if I hadn't gone hard with his piece he still would have had some success. Leo and Mickey have been around long before Don but barely made any numbers. Especially Leo. Poor Raph isn't getting much notes but that one's on me (I wish I had more time for his comic,it should have had more lore actually). Too bad coz I think this is my best pieces of the lot. April, with the Torii has been doing better than I expected and this makes me pretty happy. So that was the situation But...Today ? I realized something changed.

For some reason, Leo suddenly gathered a lot of notes without any explanations. Not only ranking to second place but also getting dangerously close to Don's number. And bc of this, this is all I can picture at the moment.

I think something that gets lost in the discourse of whether Beren and Luthien were wrong for not giving the Silmaril to the Fëanorians is that Luthien was kidnapped and held captive by Celegorm and Curufin, whose end goal was forcing her to marry - and with how Tolkien's elf marriage=sex that would require sexual assault or coercion in the very least - and then tried to murder her fiancé. And to her knowledge, C+C were never reprimanded for it by the other brothers. The only public consequence they got from their own family was in the form of Celebrimbor leaving. I love the Fëanorians, I really do, but if I were in Luthien's shoes, I would tell the entire family (minus Celebrimbor) to get fucked. I would not be taking the moral high ground and handing over the Silmaril to the guys who imprisoned me and tried to kill my loved one for sake of property rights and family heirlooms. The expectation that she should is wild.

I just want to say.

Last night, when they debuted "Bob Dylan" and everyone was talking about it on the dash, I started reflecting on my relationship to that song, how overcome with emotion I felt when it came out in 2019, how I sat and talked about it with my homeroom teacher (I was a queer junior in high school who less than a year ago stopped visiting her dad on the weekends and he was an English teacher with a very big heart, you know how it goes) because I so desperately wanted to wrap my head around what that song felt like, what it was making me feel.

"It feels like a love song, but not," was essentially my argument.

And he said, very very gently, "I think this is a break up song."

Now, we can debate all night about what the song is actually about, but that's not why I'm sharing this.

I'm sharing this because I remembered last night that by that year I had already become an avid journaler, and I looked up the release date for "Bob Dylan" and sure enough, when I flipped to that day in my notebook from that year, there was two page entry. One question my teacher I asked about the song stands out to me now.

Do I need to leave for you to love me like you love them?

Because the answer is a resounding no. Fall Out Boy does not need to leave to be loved, and everything they've done this year is a testament to that. They are here, they are here, they are here, and they are not going anywhere, and they love each other, and we love them, so, so much.

I don't know if this makes any sense, but in the quiet now that they've played their last US show, when we're all metaphysically shuffling our feet in the noisy crowded parking lot and basking in the cool night air and pointing up at the moon together, I wanted to share that.

I think that it's a pretty common headcanon that Koujaku can play on the shamisen and so could his mother, but that's such a nice thing to think about... Like I bet that she was amazing at it, she could've become a pro if her life went differently. She always played Koujaku's request after they were done with their lesson for the day, and he considers these moments his best memories of the time he spent at his father's residence; He could just lie on the floor, close his eyes, and listen to his mother's playing and singing, and he could tell that these were brief moments where she was actually happy too, temporarily free from worrying about his father's and his wife's anger, from worrying about his future... This is in part why he chose the hairpin that he did- canonically it was because of its low price, but I like to think that he picked the one that looked like a shamisen's head, so that she could always remember how happy she was when she was playing, and the time they spent playing together.

He hasn't played in years. He'd say that he has a decent skill, but he's nowhere close to his mother- she was a real virtuoso in his mind. He still loves the sound, but he can't bear hearing it anymore, he always has to leave the room or make excuses to others, unable to say the truth as to why it moves him so much. Even when he holds it in his hands it always feels like his fingers go limp around the wood and the strings cleave into his flesh when he does as little as touch them.

But, now that things are different, and a new path in life opens, maybe it's time to come back to things that were abandoned in the past. And, maybe, playing for someone very special might just be the best first step 👀

Got me thinking what type of hybrid kaeya would be

Would he also be a bird of prey? I would imagine he would be an albatross of some sort, soaring through the skies, never really finding a place to call home.

Maybe after visiting diluc and his darling, he thinks he wants a bit of that too

as featured in the lovely drawings contributed by @smokey-cat, kaeya is a peacock hybrid!!! i was tempted to make him one of the big cats (a jaguar, in particular) or a bird of prey, but i think a very eye-catching bird that's heavily associated with luxury and wealth but also frequently regarded as 'background dressing' and wrongly deemed purely ornamental is such a god fit for kaeya. i'm also in love with the idea that, because peacocks can't fly very far and aren't migrational, he's stuck in the same big empty house after crepus dies and diluc goes on his little kidnapping spree self-discovery adventure. it really preps him to be ready to steal away diluc's shiny new mate as soon as his feet touch the ground.

me and my friend were looking at my tumblr dash before a movie started at a theater and we saw luca fanart where for a moment it looked like alberto had a comically long hair tuft thing. and my friend said "its like when you all [luca fandom] had that hazbin hotel looking ass being a bear" (paraphrasing) because its like an exagerration of a trait refering to alberto

i burst out laughing. so hard. in the theater. and in conclusion, he doesnt support bear alberto and this is a tragedy

And a few things!

Primarily, I wanted to distance them as much as possible from Firestar, since the “orange cat with green eyes” is pretty iconic to the Warriors series. So I decided to lean a bit heavier into Castel’s “fire” inspiration, by instead changing his eyes entirely from heterochromatic green-and-amber to just straight gold.

I also wanted to simplify his design a lot, considering that I plan to draw and sketch him quite a bit going forward. She’s our main character, after all! No more excessive markings, plus a sleeker, simplified outline/shape.

Also wanting to find a way to display all of Castel’s non-feline traits in the face! I did Not succeed with this lmao, but let it be known that Castel is not just of Mightmire and House companion descent. He’s got a lot more in him.

Nino is very perceptive but also very laid back. He won’t interrogate you if you’re up to something, but he definitely knows

Currently reading: I just finished reading 'Our Share of Night' / 'Nuestra Parte de Noche ' by Mariana Enriquez. I would recommend it if you're looking for a tome of a horror novel that gets under your skin. It's not necessarily scary but it is haunting. Plus most of the main characters are LGBT+.

Like Lovecraftian Gods, cults, kids on bikes in the 80s, haunted houses, generational trauma, a capitalism hit peace, or a story where the characters become horrible people in order to do what they think is right only for them to become the thing they fear? Then this book is for you.

Current obsession: If I'm honest I don't have much time for my obsessions. I'm currently juggling a master's degree, placement and part-time work. So free time to exist is hard to come by.

I feel like it's obvious if I tell you I love reading or writing.

If I do have spare time I enjoy art, which you might not know from my Tumblr because I don't really do fan art. I'm not that good at digital art. I tend to do ink, Berserk-like stuff because hyper-focusing on tiny details or repetitive crosshatching also scratches an itch in my brain. I also really enjoy painting flower/ nature with a palette knife.

Like I mentioned in the tags of my last post, I’m kinda interested in doing a liveblog of Sonic the Comic (aka the Fleetway comics), but I’d like to do a quick interest check before diving in just so I’m not doing this to an audience of zero
