Summary:

In the end, it's Yamada's painfully obvious and just as grating attempts to spare Shouta some mild embarrassment that makes Shouta abandon all sense of logic and agree to just play the stupid game. There are worse fates to endure than being patronized, Shouta's sure, but if there are, he's having trouble imagining them in the face of Yamada freestyle rapping for fifteen straight minutes to a chorus of increasingly heartfelt boos from the other two idiots.

And so Shouta finds himself watching Yamada and Kayama suck face for the third time this evening. That's certainly a worse fate, Shouta decides, all the more so because he should have seen it coming.

"Told you they're gorgeous now that the city's dead of lights," Ash murmured at a quick glance up to the clear skies, fulfilling a promise he made to Jer a couple of nights ago. The stars filled the sky even with the full moon shining in all its brilliance, as if wishing the other man happy birthday all the same. Still, he couldn't help the nerves of whether he'd even have Jer tonight at all, with other celebrations for him underway and assuming his attention would be elsewhere, Ash was mentally (emotionally?) prepared to not get an answer when he knocked on his door.

Ash took a few steps away from the telescope to sit down by the picnic bench, patting on the space beside him to invite Jer to join, flashing a boyish grin he always had when it came to the stars as he leaned back against the table, "it's a full moon tonight so it's too bright to really see the full extent of it all but, still pretty." Turning his gaze down from the sky to finally face Jer fully, fishing out the sealed bottle of Yamazaki 18 he dug out earlier, "and- this is my absolutely last bottle of whiskey I have." He had said he ran out of his own stash of liquor early on, but this was the one in his drawer locked away from the temptation to ever cave if he was ever in a bad place, ever since he moved here, surprised by his own will power over the years to keep it there. But he pulled this out today, because he felt like he was in a good place, and it seemed like the best way to crack it open - with someone that's been there with him since the start of the bottle's confinement.

"I know it's not the best or most exciting gift you've gotten today but.." Ash chuckled with a weak gesture to the scene in front of them before he handed the bottle to Jer, managing a soft smile and warm words of fondness, "happy birthday."

hey uhm how do we feel about this one I feel like the Ninja are secretly kinda resentful that they had to spend their lives defending a city that never stays safe and definitely bitter about it and maybe also bitter towards Wu in that way where you live your parents but also you hate what they do sometimes

I think they’re pretty pissed that they didn’t get compensated the first few seasons, and then SUPER bitter when they’re imprisoned (TWICE???) and replaced. I however wholeheartedly believe that this city LOVES their ninja and makes that love known it’s the fuckass government that’s out to get them

Oh yeah the ninja are so pissy with Wu especially when they’re done dealing with the latest threat. I feel like you can actually see their respect for him kinda go down over the seasons. Like they still respect and love him, but the idolization and ‘wise master’ image is gone

I have a bit of time b4 this next flight takes off (just sitting in my seat right now hehe) so here's a thought that's been stewing for a bit; honestly in addition to being partnered and totally in love with Mojo, my s/i would also be his biggest fan 🥺💖💖 They'd think that everything about him is just so cool and that all his evil plots are so impressive and they'd always hype him up and want to remind him just how awesome they think he is 🥺💖🥺💖 I bet he'd practice his evil speeches in front of them too or let them "proofread" any schemes he comes up with because their opinion matters to him and he also knows that they're probably gonna be giving him lots of compliments and feeding his ego hehehee 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
