The day had waned into a night full of sparkling stars and a half moon. Half the kingdom was asleep and those who were still awake had gone inside into the warmth of shelter long ago.

Inside the castle the servants were beginning to retire as well and the few nobles that hung around sat in the many studies drinking their fill of wine. The men smoked cigars and spoke of politics and philosophy. The women gossiped while playing card games and betting wages for the fun of it. 

Rapunzel learned long ago that happy nobles meant happy kingdoms and most here tonight were regulars in the castle. Some were distantly related to the crown, some were married into it. She had uncles and aunts and cousins she wasn’t sure she was really related to, but smiled and greeted them as such for the sake of keeping peace. They were harmless enough, many just wanted her attention.

The sound of a lady cheering her good fortune pulls her from her daze long enough to see the Lady’s husband looked up, breathed out his cigar smoke and continue on with his conversation. Behind the man she sees a tuckered out child with his tiny head pressed against the folds of her mother’s dress. Rapunzel watches long enough to see the family retire and the child gets carried away in his father’s arms.

It wasn’t much of a party but there was something in the lazy daze of the night that made Rapunzel’s stomach knot anyway. She felt anxious in the lull of their contentment and the more she drank and tried to be present the more she felt distant to it all.

She belonged in this room more than anyone but all she wanted to do at that moment was to take off her shoes and run into the gardens to breathe in the night.

Rapunzel takes a deep breath and resolves herself to another early night.

Just as she was about to announce she would be retiring for the night her hand brushes accidentally against another's. She gave a small jump, and the smaller hairs that framed her face flew with the momentum. There was a moment of silence between them and before the other woman could say a word Rapunzel tugs on her hand and lead her out of the room with the sound of chatter dwindling to murmurs in the background.

The only thing that followed after were Rapunzel's hurried steps and that of her captive until she stops abruptly and turns around to face them. The smile she wore could rival the sun’s glow in its brilliance.

“I hope you don’t mind but I was getting fidgety in there,” she said with a pucker and roll of her eyes. Rapunzel began walking, albeit it slower than before and takes a breath. “I like them don’t get me wrong, I just couldn’t continue listening to the saaame booooring conversations any longer. The first few times were interesting but now it just sounds like a song being played on repeat.”

She adds, as if it was a secondary thought, "You also looked like you needed an escape."

okay no listen. in a pokemon au mike has a palafin and a sirfetch'd and a samurott because he's a fucking NERD but he also has a goodra because one day he came across this slimy little pathetic wet sopping goomy and felt so bad for it because everyone thought it was weak and he couldn't help but catch it. and he does that a lot while catching pokemon. he wants all the Weird Little Guys™️ because what if no one else wants them 🥺🥺🥺 he will believe in them when no one else will like do you understanddd

five things that make me happy: thing one. MY FRIENDS!! we went out today for a supposed study outing but we were mostly just hanging out. i love them thing two. cats. they are so cute. i love cats. even seeing cat videos or cat cameos in shows just make me go ISKLJDFKJSRKJWEKLS verbally bc they are so adorable? i love cats. i want to cuddle them thing three. books! you can never go wrong with books. sure some books are weird and others are utter trash but i will read anything. even if it is trash. its my guilty pleasure tbh. my taste in books really is shitty wattpad level novels and classic literature. thing four. music? music has a large influence on my vibe HAHAHAH and upbeat songs usually make me wanna dance!! thing five. alcohol...... sorry for being an alcoholic on main but. sometimes all you need to do is drown yourself in cheap liquor and let the shitty taste be the worst part of your day and you automatically feel better about yourself - it's alot like playing gbf. gbf is trash. but you play it anyway because sometimes it's all you have left and sometimes it's good to you but mainly it is terrible (drop rates are abyssmal and ive been playing for years and i still dont know what the heck i am doing). gbf also just makes you not think about your problems because youre too busy thinking about it. gbf is just my substitute for alcohol whenever i run out of alcohol tbh
