i like the emphasis on Wild's weirdness compared to the others. sure, they all got their quirks, but Wild is.......wild. he's strange and off-putting in the way the others are not. in fact, everything about him and his Hyrule just isn't normal and puts a very very Odd taste in their mouths. like, it takes a second to register, but where IS everybody? how come the only thing close to a society is this stable built out of rags and a few old villages? where's the life?

and then it goes from there into, wtf are these guardians? what happened to you? WDYM YOU CAN TALK TO HYLIA? what HAPPENED here?? as the horror dawns on them that none of them could have gone through what Wild did and come out the other side successful. hell, HE didnt even come out the other side. he had to be resurrected!! (but no one really dives into this last part, but i'd love to see it because it's true)

one of my absolute FAV depictions of this is through Unraveled by Helkat. One of the first LU fics i read and LOVED.

Wild Adventures also does all the above REALLY REALLY WELL. I'm rereading it now and ugh. Absolutely loved what the author did. Honestly one of my fav LU fics.

i used to think i wasn't one for liking reading the same trope in fics with the same exact scenarios over and over again. and then i found the gang meets wild section of linked universe fics and i am addicted. genuinly. it's al i can think about. i love them all having this form of structure in their societies and then landing in wild's hyrule and realizing its all gone. i love the creativity people make when writing wild, and how he interacts, and the range of it. but mostly i love the worldbuilding in those specific fics.

Okay I've been dying for MONTHS to find this and I'm terrible at explaining things (apologies in advance) but: Chain meets Wild, except he's nonverbal/etc and there's this one scene where he's trying to explain the dangers of guardians, saying (miming?) that they kill. Legend goads him saying something along the lines of "yeah, of course they do", and Wild responds with "no. Guardians kill. Me." *pointing at himself*

If the game were to shock each other, Darsa would have won right then and there. Kat’s olive-hazel eyes opened wide and her jaw dropped slightly. She quickly pursed her pierced lips to try and mute her reaction, but she was undeniably surprised. Darsa was the pinnacle of modesty in her eyes, and the thought of him traipsing around the kitchen naked was something she never assumed she would learn about him.

When she finally came to terms with that imagery, after a few steady breaths, she looked up to meet his silver stare with a faint blush on her cheeks. However, that was the only sign of the underlying conflict and frustration. Her pierced brows pinched inward as she narrowed her gaze. She too a moment longer to decide just how far she would push to see if he was bluffing.

“I can’t be responsible for that decision,” she replied finally, yielding as she remembered that he was just as stubborn as she was, if not more so. “Wear pants or don’t. I reckon I’m keen on ya enough to handle it either way. Fel of a memory to make that the first time I see you naked is when you’re helpin me make breakfast. I could man any fried things. Make a mean fried egg and ham. Though, can I make a request?”

Kat’s grin had returned and there was a comfortable mischief in her eyes as she slid a little closer to Darsa. A small voice in the back of her head was demanding her to act with more decorum. She worried so often about what people may think about Darsa, an older man with wealth much of her county had never even fathomed, courting a rough-around-the-edges country girl. However, it was all muted by the impish mood she found herself in that morning.

“Can ya just leave the shirt out of it, no matter what you decide?” As she got halfway through the sentence, her boldness fizzled a bit and her smile softened. “I rather like watchin’ ya work shirtless.”

Now flustered and finally hearing that little voice more clearly, the one chiding her for being so crass, she decided to take one last liberty before slowly retreating again. Slowly she placed a peck of a kiss on his cheek and leaned back to read his expression.

Weekends were bliss. The work on the island was never done, but weekends meant the day started a little later for Kat. It was as close to a day off as she wanted for the time being. But weekends were bliss. She sat on the edge of the bed, leaning over with messy hair and morning breath, and chanted softly at Darsa, who was certainly not still asleep. "Bread, bread, bread, bread, bread, bread, bread."

He had woken up a good minute before she started whispering in his ear. The sunlight beaming through the nearby window, the coastal birds letting out their cry as they flew past. Darsa had one word for the whole situation.

“FUCK.”

Getting up he looked down at his bare chest and made sure to put more of his blankets around his waist. “Um... I was supposed to get woken up before dawn so I could get some baking in...” He then looked down at the blankets then back to Kat. “Um... Love, I might need t’ask you to uh let me put some pants on. I didn’t know you’d be sneakin into my room or I would of, put on some trousers.”

My warrior turned paladin, Katherine ‘Helkat’ Lockhart, is the character with which I most identify. Some of her characteristics are self-insert, and I know that is frowned upon, but I won’t apologize. By giving her the anger I felt for years and the trauma I carried silently, I had an outlet to help her heal in the ways I was not able to for years. It has been a cathartic experience and everyone who has interacted with her has been supportive of the direction her story has gone. I love her because she is the piece of me that needed a champion and I love her because I finally got to write the champion I had needed.

   Blacksmith in Dwarven District – Although she works as an apprentice officially, Kat has been working with metal for nearly ten years. She helped with the local farmer needs when she was still a child and now, she is learning armorsmithing.

   Local Brawler – Helkat is the name she uses in local circuits and she is starting to make a name for herself. Unfortunately, she doesn’t have a favorable following. She’s mostly infamous for showing up to a fight, mingling while the bets go up, and then, in the ring, knocking her opponent out in the early rounds. Even when organizers try to paint her as a heel, she refuses to lose, which makes more enemies.

   Trips to Westfall – At least once a week, Kat can be found on the road heading for Westfall. She often takes a few supplies with her and keeps her head down. She bypasses Sentinel Hill and heads straight to Moonbrook. She will usually spend the night and then find herself on the road back to Stormwind the following morning.
