I always see people talk about “God’s plan” and correct me if I’m wrong but, isn’t that kind the opposite point of the bible? The way I understood the bible is that it is a book of God teaching humans lessons. He interferes and tests their faith, he interferes to teach them something, he interferes to help them. And then, the lessons and tests are over. He tells you to take what he taught you and go out into the world and be a good person, he gives you free will. So of course God doesn’t do miracles anymore, because for him to interfere is to remove your freewill. Then you take the lessons he taught you, incorporate the messages into your daily life(not necessarily take them literally) and he judges you after you die.

Do other helenistic pagans that are pjo fans exist?
Cuz like I LOVE pjo don't get me wrong but I think Rick gets their personalities wrong a lot of the time 😓 sometimes I'd think about what lady hera would think seeing me read about characters that hate her 😭😭

The Adhara Antheia girl
Tumblr media
Welcome, lovebug! This is a safe place for all hellenic pagans!
About me: I like to be called Lala, but if you want you can also call me Adhara! It's the name of my favorite star, and ironically, my Deities refer to me as Star! My pronouns are she/her and I'm also neurodivergent by having ADHD.
I work with:
☀️ Lord Apollo;
🦉 Lady Athena;
🏹 Lord Eros;
🌺 Lady Aphrodite;
🦚 Queen Hera;
This blog is meant to tell about my path as a helenist; but it's also to help other people by giving advice based on my studies and my own experience. Feel free to DM me or just give me an ask :)

🐍Medusa is back!🐍
It's been so long since I drew her, and I absolutely LOVE the new design. 💕💜💕
Update on her backstory: now it's a mixture of the two different origin stories from the "canon" mythology.
She was born a gorgon, but she was also the most loyal priestess of Athena. 🦉
She wears a headscarf to cover the base of her head. She lost a few of her snakes before she became Bronthea's priestess, but lost almost the rest when the temple fell. The scares left are incredibly sensitive.
She's the only one other than Bronthea (and her plot twist spy) who leaves the island. Though Medusa never physically leaves, only spiritually.
For those unaware, modern helenistic paganism recognizes her as a deity (not to be confused with a goddess), and many people worship, and or work with her.
Now that the temple is mostly empty, she takes time out of her day to help witches and practitioners with their magic.
Her job didn't change, only that now she's only Bronthea's right hand, but never was her high priestess (check the previous post of Bronthea for that).

So a conversation tonight got me really introspective and I sort of just want to throw some thoughts out there while they are floating around...
I grew up in a mixed religion household. Grandma was Christian, mom is a Helenistic pagan (with a lot of stuff borrowed from other branches of paganism and Christian psychics), and dad practices Norse paganism. It is safe to say that, should I encounter any problems, I had a variety of deities to pick from and pray to for help/guidance/etc, and, oh boy, I did encounter problems.
I was in late elementary school when my mom tried to get me to be more religious, so I studied as much as I could about different religions, and tried taking my problems to these deities, and shaping my behavior to be a good adherent to whatever I was trying at the time. I tried just about every god or goddess from every pantheon/religion I had an understanding of, and I got no help whatsoever. I was disillusioned at this point. Not only was I convinced none of these deities were real/could help, but I also started seeing a lot of issues with the common beliefs held in many of these neo-pagan groups, and running head first into the issues in many different Christian denominations. I gave up on it (save for a few times of pure desperation because I was in a really shitty state mentally and truly felt that the only way I would be able to make it through was divine intervention, and I didn't care what direction it came from). I gave up trying to find something to believe in, and I gave up trying to figure out what I believe or if I believed in anything at all (it doesn't help that I was overwhelmed with homeschooling myself and taking care of my two younger siblings, which left me with no time to sit down and think about these things). What's the point of finding a deity to believe in if that deity won't answer a prayer or even send a sign?
The problem is, I want to believe in something, but finding where to start is overwhelming. I've kindof just landed on "be as good (aka no harming anyone, and actively try to help people. If an action doesn't harm anyone it is neutral.) as you can, and, if there is a just judge of what to do with your soul when you die, you will be rewarded, if the judge of the afterlife is willing to make eternity miserable for you unless joined this group/worshiped a certain way/etc than they were an asshole undeserving of worship, and if there is nothing, at least you weren't an asshole." Unfortunately, I just feel like that is such a cop out answer, but it's all I have. I would love to find a religion that matches my understanding of the world, but that takes time and, given my experiences, it would just be a waste.
If someone could make a quiz that takes stock of all of your beliefs of things like moral issues, the afterlife, the cause of human suffering, and divine intervention in human lives and rank which religions are most likely to fit your understanding of the world, that would be great, and I would certainly use it to figure things out, but that's just because it feels like I would have to put in so much work just to get started in understanding what I believe/if I believe in anything, and don't want to be disappointed because I put in a lot of work just to have no answer.

If you want to continue making music abt psychosis/paganism(helenistic paganism is still pagan) but I think you should make some evil characters cursing lots of prophets, cuz that's what happens in real life. Mental Health judges condemn people to chemical lobotomy and castration like it's their bread and butter because schizophrenia being a shamanic calling is interesting but impractical in today's WEIRD societies. I have a lot more to say abt this and I'm making a doc criticizing the breaking of psychics systematically in this country

Either way, people gotta stop believing Ovid's version. The dude wasn't even Greek, and he never intended for his reinterpretation to be seen as actual Greek mythology.
What really bugs me is I've seen people claiming to be Helenistic Pagans spread the Ovid version. Like...those are the people who should KNOW better! Then again, there are people I go to church with who do the same thing with the Bible, so it's not unusual.
I am rewatching your ruthlessness video and I just noticed that Poseidon’s robe is literally the entire ocean. Also where the snakes with Athena a reference to the Medusa myth where Athena curses Medusa because she was being assaulted in Athena’s temple?
I cram a lot of references in my animatics! Hehe! 😋
Tho I go more for the older version with the whole "they did it on a bed of flowers", instead of Ovid's. It just makes Athena just a liiiiiitle bit more better when she curses Medusa.

i have to tell you what happened today because its so funny
i was crying over schoolwork so i decided to light some frankincense and play some abba so that maybe apollo would help my anxiety go down and i got the urge to do some tarot pulls
i lit apollo’s candle and started pulling cards. the cards that flew out of the deck called me out on my anxiety, trauma, stubbornness, etc. so i started tearing up again and
CHIQUITITA BY ABBA STARTED PLAYING AND APOLLOS FLAME STARTED DANCING
