there really is something(tm) about thor and loki (plus val, heimdall, sif) being literally all that's left of asgard's ruling class after ragnarok. no other warriors or politicians, just them. (i guess we don't actually know this to be true, but asgard gives off a very strong impression of being sharply stratified...)
like. kind of... stripping down to the truth of their society. the idea that the king rules absolutely and alone is a myth. he needs his warriors to maintain control. if the people decided they don't want to be ruled by the house of odin any more, practically speaking, they probably wouldn't be able to stop them.
but also just. beyond that. distillation. the royal family is now two people. the culture/society they know, what they think of as asgard(tm) and as home, is only a handful of individuals. hmmm.
and this would all have been fun to explore if we'd been given a chance. but before we get there, they take it even further. the house of odin is only thor, in the end.

Something that really annoys the fuck out of me, is that it takes Thor and Hela being mistreated by Odin for people to believe that Loki was abused (and then, like that anon, "Loki doesn't have a right to resent poor abused Thor, bleh bleh"). Everyone kept insisting it was something "horny fangirls made up" for the longest time and that he was "crying fake tears" or being a "spoiled ungrateful brat".
I've seen too many people defend Odin's treatment of Loki. And it ignores the inherent power imbalance between a foundling from another realm that Odin pillaged and a biological son. Yet people insist Loki's just making shit up in Thor 1.
I think that there's been a lot more discussion over recent years about abuse so people are more aware of how to spot it which definitely helps, but regardless It is extremely irritating that it takes Hela and Thor also being victims before people are suddenly jumping on the train. i don't know. it's just weird. The way MCU is written leaves it very ambiguous about Loki and Thor's past because you CAN interpret it as Odin at best being distant, emotionally neglectful, their family a dysfunctional mess, and then go all the way to the other end of the spectrum where it's different types of abuse (emotional neglect IS still abuse) like emotional or physical. Not that one is worse than the other (it is not a competition. Abuse is never a competition. You don't "win" the fight if you got hit) it's just different.
I don't know. When I look at Thor 1, honestly I can see an argument for Odin struggling to reach out to his kids and him and Frigga just failing them instead of maliciously failing them. I once read an amazing fic where Odin finds Loki in the bifrost instead of Thor and he's beyond distressed that things got this point. I love reading these fics! I love the fics where Odin is trying to be a good father. I love him being able to repair his relationship and form a healthy bond with his kids. It's just... not really, canon?
I just think there's so many ways to look at what Odin and Frigga did, especially when it comes down to Loki, but one thing that irritates me the most is that these two defenses are thrown around ALL the time when it comes to Odin and Frigga being good parents to him and they're not even true:
1 - "we don't know that Loki was kidnapped vs abandoned. I know there's a part of the deleted script of Thor 1 where Laufey says Loki was the abandoned runt (or something to that effect), but it wasn't filmed and it was cut for a reason."
2 - "We don't know if Frigga and Odin made any effort into trying to change Asgard's views on Jotuns and they were unsuccessful, or if they just didn't care. We don't understand enough about Asgard's political system or educational system to say one way or the other."
3 - "Odin said that he didn't intend to use Loki to be the king of Jotunheim anymore."
And like okay! I've seen this argued so many times, but when you think about it more, you realize that it doesn't matter. Odin and Frigga had a responsibility to let Loki know Jotuns weren't monsters. They didn't. We know that. The first thing Loki describes Jotuns as is "monsters." he sees them as expendable animals that can be killed to stop Thor's coronation. in 95% of canon (I am looking at you eyeball scene), Loki doesn't kill for fun. He sees it as a necessity. So the fact that he looked at the Jotuns and didn't even think twice about leading them to their deaths just showcases how little he thinks about their lives.
The inherit "othering" of the Jotuns is a massive, massive racism problem that, even IF odin and frigga couldn't fix the educational system, they had a duty to explain to Loki that he wasn't a monster and to love himself for his true identity, even if they never intended to tell him. They failed him immensely in that regard.
And on the first thing - regardless of whether or not Loki was abandoned or kidnapped, Loki's first thought upon hearing that was not "i'm the prince of a different kingdom" it was "Odin took me for political purposes" and he was right.
And even IF odin was telling the truth and he dismissed those plans because he loved Loki more than his initial ambitions with him, why did he keep lying about it? And then we circle back to the second point:
Tumblr media
look at me.
look at me.
Loki wasn't different. He wasn't. Loki as a Jotun wouldn't have been different from the Asgardians except visually and maybe some minor biological things, and that shouldn't have mattered. Because your visual appearance SHOULD NEVER be more important than who you are inside. The body is always a vessel for the brain.
Did they not tell him so he wouldn't have to face the racism? Because that's not a healthy way to deal with it and it was inevitable that he would learn eventually and they didn't prepare him to deal with that. They should have told him and then helped him build up his self-confidence to the point that MOST of the racist things wouldn't have bothered him, or he had someone to talk to when they did. If they gave Loki a support system for dealing with this rather than just trying to isolate it, Loki would have a much better viewpoint on himself.
anyway, sorry. my point with this long rant is that I believe loki. I believe when he said he was abused and hurt, regardless of whatever circles people can walk in that "justify" everything that Odin and Frigga did because at the end of the day Loki was still traumatized and hurt by what happened and he has the right to say that, heal, and move on. If Odin and Frigga want to change and repair their relationship with him into something healthy - amazing, good for them.

Hela | What If
Love that What If s2 gave us a Hela that is:
- bold, witty (for sure the sis of Thor & Loki), willing to learn, adorable in traditional Chinese dress (汉 Hàn 服 if I'm not wrong- the Han's costume - the contrast & line delivery, damn), a polyglot (likely a studious daughter, not like we expect any less from her but still, screw Odin..), has a great sense of humour & charm
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
- knows what's up, willing to sacrifice her crown ("Are you,Hela, the goddess of crowns?" "Give him Hell" 😭 like the one she was banished in) but still would immediately start a fight with her nemesis Raggy 😆
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don't think it's necessarily Goddess of Death vs Goddess of Life here. She could very well still be the Goddess of Death, but only the death of the evil, having gained a new appreciation for life. These are just titles and we stan a versatile queen who can be whoever she wants to be.
More things I love in this:
Hela & Fenris 🥰, Cate Blanchett (her accent & voice 🤩, altho her mandarin voice is like a different person), Hela in 汉服 just hits home for me, she and her siblings getting along (pls marvel we need more, same goes to her facing off thanos)

Okay I don't think there is enough discussion of the fantasy racism in MCU Nine Realms
Like I know it is a hard pill to swallow, but the elements of that is RIGHT THERE
I get that the Aesir Vanir Wars are meant to have some nods to the Viking - Hunnic Wars in the early Medieval times, but that doesn't excuse how SOME people there STILL think that all Aesirs or Vanirs are bad ( it's not true )
And then the fae folk and dwarves in Asgard in general sometimes feel a sense of ' otherness ' in Asgard, cuz they all look kinda different than the Aesirs ( with pointy ears and colorful hair for a number of fae folk and being shorter than an average human for dwarves in Asgard ). So the fae folk and dwarves often have solidarity groups in Asgard, even after all the Alfheim Nidavellir dramas in the Aesir Vanir Wars
And then here are the Aesir Jotun Wars, which has some nods to the Viking - Arctic Wars. Turns out the Vikings wanted to expand their territories to Arctic regions, but the Arctic fleets held such a steadfast defense against those Viking fleets that in the end, the Vikings didn't conquer any territories in the Arctic
It's very clear that the cosmic relations of Asgard between the rest of the Nine Realms has strong influences to how several Aesirs view those outside their race
And that's a reason why diplomatic minded people ( like Frigga, Sigyn and Sunna and such ) are SO NEEDED in the Nine Realms
Without such people, the Nine Realms may already be destroyed with those wars and all
And the Ragnarok came along and it became Hela vs Nine Realms
All the sudden, many more are reminded that they are more alike than they think
After the death of Hela, I'm glad that the fantasy multiculturalism issue is improving, since Thor helped boost trade ties between ALL the Realms in Nine Realms, not just with Vanaheim, Alfheim and Nidavellir

Reacting to Contemporary Comics (Without Context) 13/?
Tumblr media
I've been working on this for six weeks. I'm sorry, homework and TWO ISSUES OF IMMORTAL THOR sidetracked me. Getting this post hammered out before the next issue of Immortal Thor comes out tomorrow.
I don't know what the fuck this is. I think it might be an anthology? We're joined by modern Thor genius writer, Jason Aaron, creator of the story with The Best Panel Ever in Comic History; and Walter Simonson, of nude!Loki bait fame, and several authors whom I don't recognize.
Spoilers for The Mighty Thor #700 (2017) and likely others.
This is feeling vaguely IT 5-ish
Thori! My good boy!
Thor wants to murder Yggdrasil. I love Thori.
Am I crying about mundane panels again? Possibly. In my defense I lost my dog recently.
Fuck I forgot he lost his arm!
Thori and the goat (idk which one it is) just following him is so great
"Man?" You recruited just random dudes, Malekith? What's Joe from Accounting gonna do? Did Doom have the afternoon off and owed you a favor?
Jane vs She-Hulk?! Why is She-Hulk so hot in this? Did this come out before Ragnarok? It must have, right? Ragnarok came out October 2017. Wait, no, it says December 2017.
WHOA, doc/nurse/whoever you are! HIPAA! I know Jane is technically a doctor, but she's here as a patient right now. Don't give her Jennifer's entire backstory.
Volstagg was Thor once?!
LOKI!!!
Loki why are you dressed like that? Where is your sense of style, you queer little twink?
THOR YOU DID NOT NAME THESE NEW HUMANS JANE AND STEVE WTF
There's my boi! Took you fucking long enough, dude
Yeah, because he's the God of Stories! Give him a fucking minute to try before you erase everything he's written! God.
Also can we stop drawing him so gross?!
Okay but I might change the name of my Loki playlist from Disaster Spouse to Little Prince of Jackasses lol
Why is Throg's name Simon Walterson... one of the prolific Thor writers is Walter Simonson... this is a multi-level spoof [I'm thinking he probably created the character, actually, but I'm not in the mood to fact check that atm]
Okay, when is Loki's thread of the narrative? Because that was... still in character, but he seems too cold about it for when I thought this was. Ugh, this is what happens when you let anyone other than Al Ewing write Loki.
NO! What the fuck? Talk about a NoTP! Hela and Thanos? Thanos needs to die alone and unloved. And Hela's married to Karnilla. >:(

Tumblr media
emotion meme / anonymous / accepting ! ╰┈➤ send my muse a mood, and i’ll describe how my muse deals with it.
Tumblr media
╰┈➤ panic (mun will also refer to anxiety and stress, as for thor they are all the same)
thor + panic specifically: when anxiety and stress becomes panic, and the evolution of both of these emotions thereof.
Out of the gate, it's worth establishing a baseline that Thor is an incredibly sensitive individual. He feels intensely, loves intensely, grieves and becomes joyous intensely. Combine this big heart with a naturally temperamental nature (pun intended), the constant pressure of high expectations (from his family, friends, and people alike) and the added detail of 'host of quasi-infinite power'... You will get a surprisingly active anxious energy beneath the surface. (Something that Chr.is Hems.worth absolutely EXCEEDS in portraying through body language and facial expressions alone.)
Obviously, Thor has enough of a handle on this anxiety for it to mostly manifest as overthinking or progressively becoming more and more reserved... but more often than naught: thor's response to fear is to become brave. Often times, this means flooring it into facing the danger head on. Ironically, by brute forcing it, he manages to still avoid the issue and it's most surefire solution altogether. (re: relying on his loved ones emotionally to get through that which is his danger; trusting his loved ones to save HIM, rather than always being the savior.) As such, Thor's anxiety will lead to Thor "lone wolf"ing through almost any and every situation, and when he is anxious and/or stressed, he likewise becomes more easily agitated. He's the sort that, when anxious, Thor becomes angry (re: mission into Jotunheim, 'treason' to Svartflheim behind Odin's back, his creation of the Vision, literally all of Ragnarok/vs. Hela &. the entirety of Infinity War post!Slaughter on the Statesman/Loki's Death)
So, predominantly, Thor's immediate response to stress, anxiety, and fear is to double down on courage and barrel in head-on, if not to make himself bigger, angrier, more aggressive and more dangerous than the worst threat in the room. (see also: thor vs. gamokra/guardians in Infinity War.)
And so what happens when none of that works? What happens when Thor begins to panic? How does it manifest THEN?
Two ways: inward, and outward.
Inward is the reaction that typically comes first, and is the most prolonged affect. (he can even skip the step of angry-anxiety and slip straight into Inward Panic.)
When the wolf that growls becomes quiet, it would be best to heed the warning. Thor's changes are subtle, and in effect he SEEMS focused and calm. But, look closely, and something behind the eyes is erratic and off-kilter. If you were to take his pulse, it's racing. His hands twist together, they're trembling; if he's in an atmosphere he can manipulate, then that alone will give him away with thunder and wind without him ever saying a word. He becomes blinded by tunnel-visioned then, with the lone objective of either: a.) get through the danger as quickly as possible (expressing extreme hyper-vigilance with a specific strain of self-preservation involved, if not an intense desire to protect any loved ones or innocent persons around him.) b.) obliterate the danger at all costs (recklessness towards the matter of his own person will largely ensue, though he will be exceedingly mindful of the safety of the people around him.)
in both of those ways, thor's motive is a simple one: regain control.
what comes after the danger has passed is Outward Panic.
This is, generally speaking, a more stereotypical panic or anxiety attack behavior and symptoms. Shortness of breath, loss of balance, erratic thoughts, headaches/migraines, chills, dizziness, nausea, roughly speaking. This is when the fear is SO overwhelming that it is something that overflows from him so quickly he can only react to it, and can't manage it. The panic is no longer held behind the dam. It is an outpouring. (e.g., all of Endgame, and when Jane shows up in L+T)
Which isn't to say inward panic doesn't also have these symptoms... it can. The difference being that Thor does not give in to these responses until after the danger has passed entirely and thor is no longer required to remain brave. (and is, preferably, isolated.)
If a threat is large enough to force Thor to jump straight into having what is effectively a more obvious panic attack, then either this threat is something insane like Thanos, or an interpersonal conflict he’s been avoiding confronting and is caught off-guard by. (again: Jane, Loki, honestly, probably Hela, survivors of asgard.... Odin.) His brain will tend to default to “you’re in danger, you can’t fight the threat, get away as fast as possible because It Is Coming For You”
… So, naturally, you can see why outward is a lot more rare of a response. (and it’s a little sad it usually would come from being caught unawares in a social situation in particular but I digress.) Not impossible by any means but certainly hard to come by if you aren't actively going out of your way to get to know Thor on more than just a surface level. Which is something that you really WOULD have to commit to, because he plays emotional chicken.
Other things of note is that Thor's stress, anxiety, panic and depression all usually are coupled first by red flags like
Loss of eye contact (often a complete loss, looking past you, just below your eyes, further down towards your chin area, or down at the ground. This... happens often he's so bad with eye contact.)
Holding his own hands, usually with the specific tic of "wringing out" his hands by the wrists or otherwise kneading at the back of his palms, stroking his own skin (aka trying to self soothe, subtly)
Closed off body language, specifically arms folded over his chest, clenched jaw. Typically gives the energy of trying to fold in on himself or otherwise make himself smaller in the space that he is in.
Overly reserved, "floaty" or otherwise distracted behavior in social situations (Typically this means absolute dead silence from him, a drop in attentiveness that usually involves needing to repeat your words back to you, seemingly speaking as if in a daze, or otherwise not engaging.)
Occasional mentions or comments of a headache (the headache in particular is a BIG red flag post!ragnarok that he is pushing his limits)

Thor vs. Hulk.
This fight is basically a stepping stone. The destruction of Mjolnir pushes Thor to self-actualized, and this fight is the first step on that road.
This is Thor's personal journey for the film. As Hela puts an end to all the familiar tropes and ideas that have proliferated through the franchise, Thor must discover that death doesn't have to be an end. It can, instead, be a catalyst for change. Change is terrifying, especially when it means losing something comfortable. But what comes of it can be something even better than what came before.
Mjolnir was never supposed to be the source of Thor's power. That's something Odin did to him. Odin took Thor's power and put it in the hammer, and Thor's grown reliant on the hammer as a crutch since then. Now that crutch is gone. It's dead.
And its death means something new can grow in its place. This fight plants that seed for Thor.
It's also really cool. We've seen Thor and Hulk fight before, but only in the context of a mindless rampage under the influence of Loki's Scepter. This time, we get a real, honest, serious fight between Thor and Hulk, both bringing everything they have while Loki whimpers in a booth.
Fanservice spectacle and meaningful character movement towards one of the film's themes? What's not to love?

Thor trilogy 🤝 gotg 3: fantastic end to two good trilogies
(Yeah i said it shh)
i mean. *deep sigh* okay. So yes. But no. Gotg 3 was much different than Thor 3. To be clear, my feelings toward Ragnarok have shifted from loathing to at best, apathy, over the last several years, so I'm very very neutral when it comes to Ragnarok. I know that there are good parts. I have adopted Hela has my chaos child.
But there IS a massive difference between what gotg3 did vs what Ragnarok did. Gotg3 was willing to meet the characters where they were and do what was best for the character, rather than the story and Ragnarok wouldn't do that.
long post:
Like Gamora. Yes, it would have been better for the story if she and Peter ended up together, but it was better for the character that she go back to the Ravagers. Yes it was good for the story that Rocket kill the villain whose name has slipped my mind, but it was better for Rocket to let him live. To give mercy when he wasn't ever allowed any. And yes, the two can coincide and meet in the middle and it's good. IT was good for Drax's character and the story that Drax slip into a more fatherly role. But the director of gotg3 clearly loved the characters. The story was a backdrop to the emotional journey the characters were on. And the director knew that. And he respected that. And he focused the story around their characters. There was no end all be all plot, it was focused on Rocket and what Rocket means to the guardians.
Ragnarok didn't do that, and that's where I think a lot of fans do feel a pull. Ragnarok is an amazing story. It has brilliant pacing, the narrative structure is amazing, the set up, the pay offs--everything. Ragnarok is one of the best put together movies I've seen in a lot time, save one thing:
It is not a good emotional journey. It doesn't serve the characters, it only serves the plot. What has Thor learned or gained between Thor 1 and Thor 3 that he didn't have at the beginning of Thor 1? The main problem for Thor in the first film was his arrogance and impulsiveness kept getting him into trouble. The disregard of his brother was what sent the film going. Odin's lack of love to Thor, his lack of love to Loki--Frigga's failings to reach out to both of them...Thor 1 is a story about a broken family.
Gotg1 is a story about a family coming together.
Gotg2 is a story about what it means to stick together through the hard stuff
gotg3 is realizing that your family will always be there for you to return to, and that no matter what, they have you.
Gotg is a story about family, and that's what the Thor films desperately wanted to be, but kept falling short at.
Thor truly, and I mean this with the most sincerity, did not grow in Ragnarok. What fault did he overcome? What new chapter to his story did we unveil that made us think about Thor in a new way? With gotg3, we learned about how much Rocket means to everyone, but we learned more about Rocket. His past, what makes him tic, why Rocket is Rocket.
We didn't learn anything about Thor. It was like they had already presented the whole character to us, and rather than make him stretch and grow...Thor turned and ran from any sort of arc in Ragnarok. So did Loki.
Like I said, the story of Ragnarok is really well put together. But it doesn't serve the characters. And the thing is, Ragnarok could have been tweaked just a little bit and it would have given just as satisfying of an ending as gotg3:
Keep Hela. Keep Ragnarok. Keep the destruction of Mjolnir.
But change the stakes. Loki and Thor are fighting for each other, not Asgard, not Sakaar, not some arbitrary Thing with stupid betrayals that didn't make sense. Because to me, my own personal opinion, the huge thing that Ragnarok circled around but never actually fixed was this:
In Thor 1, Thor needed to choose Asgard. (And Loki) Prioritize his kingdom and throw out his arrogance to put them first. He didn't. His selfishness is what puts Asgard is danger. And Thor's selfishness/arrogance is ultimately what blinded him to Loki's pain and led to the massive fall out later. In Thor 2, Thor did the exact same thing but this time it was under the guise of "wanting to be a good person." which is. my frustrations with that are for another time.
In Thor 1, Loki needed Asgard to choose him. (and he needed to choose Thor) He needed to know he was accepted even though he's Jotun. He needed that reassurance that he still means something. And Loki needed to choose Thor anyway. And he did. In the Dark World, Loki helped Thor with Jane, and he let Thor go because he knew the throne would make Thor unhappy. They needed to talk and they didn't. Loki is midway through his arc.
So is Thor. An acknowledgment of why Thor doesn't want the throne in TDW was actually reallly really good. It helped develop Thor as a person. He was deeply traumatized from the events of Thor 1, and the throne to him is equal to becoming his dad. And Thor needed to realize that he can be a good man and be a good king and they never got to that.
We never completed that arc. Thor has the second coronation where he's not trying to goad the crowd in the Statesmen, but we didn't earn that. We didn't earn any of that. Not Thor and Loki's "repaired" relationship, not the coronation, not Thor's development, nothing.
In gotg3, we earned their relationship with Rocket. We watched it develop, and we watched him prioritize them, and we earned that scene at the end of the movie where Rocket doesn't kill the High Evolutionary because Rocket has changed. gotg1 Rocket would have slit the High Revolutionary's throat and walked away happily. Rocket gotg3 didn't.
So I honestly think that stakes should have changed in Ragnarok. Hela takes Loki captive because he's king and has information and/or powers she needs and she banishes Thor to Sakaar. Thor is given the opportunity to stay in Sakaar and live out his life peacefully as the "good man" he always wanted to be. Thor doesn't want to be king. It's been this looming thing that's felt like promised corruption since his failed coronation. Thor meets with Val, and then Bruce, and Thor, in a series of drunken conversations, realizes some stuff about Odin and why he doesn't want the throne, and then gets off his butt because Val and Bruce have helped him realize that he needs to put Asgard first. That he can be a good person and a good man. Maybe Thor thinks Loki made a deal with Hela, or maybe Loki actually did make a deal with Hela, idk. Point is, Thor thinks Loki is fine.
On Asgard, Loki is not fine. Hela is making a mess of everything and killing people, and Loki puts his neck on the line to keep people safe. He uses his manipulation skills to con her, works with Heimdall, and is working on a plan to rescue Thor because he doesn't know where Thor is and if Thor is safe. Heimdall and Loki discuss this at length and Heimdall says that he knew Loki was Jotun and that it's okay. Loki's heritage is revealed to Asgard not through a play, but some other means and Asgard still chooses to trust him anyway. That would go a millions years into helping Loki feel better about everything.
Thor comes back to Asgard with the rescue ship and the knowledge about Ragnarok, and Loki almost dies to keep Thor alive. Both of them realize that they've grown up since the first film. Loki put Thor first. Thor is putting Asgard first. Ultimately, having accepted themselves for who they are, the kid who does not want to be their father, and the kid who does not want to be a monster, Loki and Thor can now accept each other.
Because Loki and Thor already love each other. We know that. We've seen it. We know that their relationship can be repaired and fixed and that they'd let the universe burn to keep the other safe. What we don't know is if they can meet the other since they've changed and grown and Thor 3 had the opportunity to do that.
Thor 1 broke their relationship
Thor 2 started to mend it
Thor 3 should have healed it
I don't know if they should kill Hela. Thor and Hela are mirror characters of each other, and I think Thor showing her mercy would be a better character growth than him immediately trying to kill her. If Thor can help Hela change, then he knows he can change to. There shouldn't have been this big fight on the bifrost again. Ultimately, it should have been something more verbal. maybe they fight in the throne room but with words. Communication isn't their family's forte, okay, great, then fix that! LET THEM COMMUNICATE. SCREAM AT EACH OTHER.
Thor, Hela, and Loki will never be able to grow until they accept the damage that Odin did to them. So the final fight should have been about that. With the shadow of Odin hanging over all three of them, they should have turned their backs on Odin's legacy by choosing each other over some stupid seat of power that Odin has been making them fight for since conception.
Hela, at her core, wants connection. She's doing that with everyone (I thought you'd be glad to see me, tell me about yourself? *rambles about Odin's past* I was his executioner, I executed his vision) Give her that with Thor and Loki when they talk about Odin.
Loki, at his core, wants to be accepted for who he is. Give him that with a public acceptance of his Jotun heritage. Where silver tongue is able to save them. His magic. Let Loki use his powers for good and remind him that at his core, he's still a good person.
Thor, at his core, wants to be worthy of love. SHOW HIM that he doesn't have to EARN it. That it's already there. Let Val and Bruce take care of him. Let Loki choose him over and over again. Destroy Mjolnir, and then show Thor that he is worthy anyway. Let him throw off the legacy of his abusive father armed with the knowledge that he is worthy of his family's love anyway.
Idk, I'm rambling, but the point is: gotg3 honored the character's journey and the path they needed to take, even if we the audience didn't always like that path. Ragnarok stomped all over the path the character's needed to take in favor of being funny or convenient and it really messed with some narratives.
Generally, I like Ragnarok. I enjoy the movie when I don't think about it connected to the rest of the Thor franchise. But it didn't meet the emotional beats it should have because it was so focused on telling a good story, it missed the story it needed to tell.
