i am going to be talking about the scene/song 'Do You Wanna Hang". (a very disturbing song for me, which most definitely implied S/A)

ehem. JEREMY IS NOT AT FAULT HERE. AND NO IM NOT BEING BIASED BECAUSE HE'S MY FAVORITE.

but genuinley. people could say it's Chloe's fault-- but that is more in the book, which i will talk about in a minute. It could be Chloe's fault in the musical, but she was also drunk off her mind and did not consent either. IN THE MUSICAL, THE FAULT IS ON THE SQUIP. it kept jeremy in that situation in both pieces of media, against his will, and if it weren't for Jake finding them, that situation would be horrifying. And because of the squip controlling jeremy, jeremy would be at fault for (yk)ing Chloe while she was drunk, therefore cheating on Brooke.

and so yesterday i finished the musical. i am still thinking about this song, and i go to the song on yt to see what others think about it.

as that one person on the reddit article said, this is much more like Blue or Your Welcome from Heathers. a very disturbing song portraying a strong message when characters were not in control of themselves, leading to messed up situations.

AND NOW FOR MY BOOK RAnT (there are many differences between the book and the musical, i prefer some things in each over others for reasons.)

a little bit of this info may be wrong, because i read the book a month or so ago. correct me if i AM wrong.

At some point when Jeremy was first in the party, chloe of course found him since they had agreed to meet up at the party in the book. (also, brooke and jeremy were never dating book wise) chloe gave him a mystery drug, and just told him to take it. CHLOE. LOOK AT ME. WHY. he takes it, and of course the squip is turned off now.

SO CHLOE HAS GIVEN HIM THIS STRONG DRUG, TAKES ONE HERSELF, AND TAKES HIM DOWN INTO THE BASEMENT.

you can see the problems with this.

in the book, this is chloes fault. she took advantage of jeremy for her own pleasure.

i dont think jeremy had consented to this in the book. (again i might be wrong)

and of course, Jake catches this in the act

we continue the book without uncovering this again, as they did in the musical

but yes that is the end of my rant.

Random Aleheather headcanons(again!)

Heather feeling guilty helps Alejandro recover from the volcano accident (all stars didn’t happen as it shouldn’t)

Alejandro’s family sues the shit out of Chris and the network

Heather after finding an agent is able to get her own talk show into production

Alejandro after a year of physical therapy and applying creams for his burns makes a full recovery (although he does sometimes walk with a cane that has the head of a bull on it)

They both go university/college but Alejandro takes online classes due to his injuries

Heather moves in with Alejandro’s family after she cuts her own family off (they all except Jose who’s jealous, love her)

Jose being petty insults Heather’s looks and she gets revenge on him by putting a whole bottle liquid laxative in his Gatorade bottle (he’s the only one in the house who drinks a certain kind) she also adds hot pink hair dye to his shampoo.)

Alejandro often speaks Spanish to Heather just to make her flustered

Along side a ring Alejandro gives Heather the same bull necklace he wears when he proposes to her

They still call one another Mr. Heather and Mrs. Alejandro

Heather does the grocery shopping, Alejandro loves to cook (she’ll jump in sometimes and help him clean up)

Heather kisses Alejandro’s forehead every morning

hey! this is actually something i've thought about quite a lot before so here's how i see it:

since monsters are so diverse in the monster world, there are a vast amount of factors that are considered beautiful. some monsters may like 1 eye, some like 3 eyes and some like 8. some like feathers, scales, or fur. it just comes down to preference. but for monsters, generally, scary = beautiful

firstly, for the teeth thing, i imagined that just like human beauty standards, monster beauty standards can change. perhaps yellow teeth used to be the standard, but then it was discovered that whiter teeth made them more visible and gave them a scarier appearance. also, maybe they discovered that poor dental health caused monsters to lose their teeth sooner, which is a problem if you rely on them for scaring. proper dental care allowed you to stay healthy and kept your teeth in good condition, keeping you in the scaring career for longer. like when sulley is brushing his teeth in mi, mike really emphasizes getting rid of plaque

this change could also be why randall's teeth in mi are visibly whiter than they were in mu

as for female monsters, i see it sorta like how jessica rabbit from who framed roger rabbit is in toon town. she's regarded as very beautiful, but not as desireable or successful (to other toons) as roger rabbit, someone more cartoony and goofy looking

so though the more humanoid looking monsters could be considered beautiful, since being a scarer is known as the biggest achievement a monster could have, if you're scary, you're considered beautiful on a whole other level.

another idea i had is that scaring could be considered as a male dominated career, so the scary/beauty standards for female monsters aren't as scrutinized as much as male monsters. this could be why there are more female monsters that aren't necessarily as "scary looking"

this could also play a role into why the pnk's are so cutthroat- with a more conventionally beautiful appearance, they might not be considered the most successful in monster society. sure they could be models and movie stars

(though i can still see """scary/conventionally unattractive""" monsters being just as viable as models and moviestars in the monster world, maybe even more so),

but since scarers are the creme de la creme, "prettier" monsters could sometimes be seen as beautiful but maybe not typically the image of someone "successful" or "desireable" (my oc lia is a scarer and has a body type similar to the pnks so i made this an insecurity of hers hehe)

but monsters can combat this by showing their scariness through their glowing eyes, teeth, claws, etc. this could be valuable as well as there's a scary/surprising factor to appearing "innocent" at first, which could be advantageous in scaring, if you know how to use it (like the pnk's in the toxicity challenge or terri and terry in the scare simulator)

also considering the movie poster seen in maw; it's about monsters in space, likely referring to aliens. humans could be considered aliens/alien-looking to monsters because they come from another world, and heather has a more humanoid appearance

on the other hand, hss is more favored as "one of the most powerful, scary monsters in campus, and they have a more traditionally "scary" appearance. and in monsters at work, of the female monsters in the mu sororities, rosie levin was the one who made it to the same scare/(laugh) floor that sulley/(mike) are/(were) on, at monsters inc.

so really i think beauty is subjective in the monster world since everyone is so different. conventionally beautiful monsters are still beautiful, maybe even some monster's preference, but scary monsters are generally favored most, because of how much monster society is centered around scaring. after all, "scariness is the true measure of a monster."

hello everyone, i'm god's least favorite goth bitch and i'm here to (over) analyze a character from a 36 year old movie!

so jd's reaction to veronica's faked suicide. i've put together this handy-dandy little comparison video between the movie and musical versions of it for you:

now, the reason i'm starting my probably-long-and-annoying series of jd analysis posts off by talking about this scene is because i see a new post about it like twice a week, and all of them say essentially the same thing: "musical jd loved and cared about veronica, but movie jd didn't, and this scene proves it".

but i actually think the opposite. jd is a deeply emotionally traumatized eighteen year old boy with an abusive father, bud dean. bud abuses people and blows things up for a living. jd's mother, implied to be the only person who loved and cared for him as a child, was driven to suicide by his father, and jd had to watch her kill herself. jd has been moved around from place to place and subjected to bullying from his classmates ever since, and when he meets veronica, he falls in love with her passionately and with his whole heart.

doesn't it make sense, then, that when jd finds the girl he loves dead from suicide in the middle of his plan (like his father blowing up the house), his trauma is triggered, and he feels love and pain and heartbreak and guilt and bottles it all up, trying to keep up the "tough guy" image he had tried to impress veronica with?

in the clip, notice the way his voice shakes and his eyes are shiny with tears. it hurts every time for me, and it feels like how that character would genuinely respond to that moment.

musical jd's reaction, on the other hand, is over the top and way more emotionally open than i think jd would really ever feel comfortable being without years of therapy. that makes me distrust it coming from the character, and his love for veronica actually starts to seem much less genuine to me.

...i don't know if any of that even made sense, sorry!
