Narrated by no one.

Narrator: Nikki's dad carefully looked back at the photos she had taken. Then he smiled at her.

Nikki's Dad: You've done a great job, Nikki!

Nikki: Have I learned how to use the camera, Dad?

Nikki's Dad: You've learned well, Nikki. But here's what I really want to tell you: being a good photographer takes more than skill.

Narrator: In photography, it is most important that you discover beauty with your heart.

Nikki's Dad: The lens is your eye, but what it shows is your heart.

Nikki's Dad: Only when you make discoveries with your heart, can you take good photos.

Narrator: Nikki only appeared to understand. She was so young, she couldn't understand the meaning of what her dad had said.

Narrator: However, she decided to try again.

Narrator: Use your heart. Use your heart. Nikki focused on that one phrase.

Narrator: She didn't rush to snap a picture. She observed her surroundings and pondered what "discovering with her heart" could mean.

Narrator: A cute girl not far away caught Nikki's attention. She was squatting on the ground and studying something intently.

Narrator: Nikki walked over out of curiosity and saw that the girl was watching ants on the ground.

Narrator: The girl raised her head to flash Nikki a bright smile when she saw her approach. Her eyes flickered playfully.

???: Are you here to make friends with the ants, too?

Narrator: Nikki tried to answer, but she was starting to wake up...

Nikki: I just had a wonderful dream about my childhood home, [Your Name]. In the dream, my dad took me to town to take pictures.

Choose either "Nikki's homesick, right?" or "Is the town memorable for you?"

If "homesick," ...

Nikki: Well, it's a good thing you and Momo came with me.

If "memorable," ...

Nikki: Yeah, that place was filled with memories.

Nikki: It's been a long time. We've visited many places and seen a lot of things together since I've been here last.

Nikki: But this small town means a lot to me.

Nikki: Not only did I study photography with my dad there, but that was where I first met Pada. I had no idea we'd grow so close.

Narrator: Nikki walked to the table, opened her sketchbook, and began to sketch.

so anyway fuck DC, i'm tired of the same-plot-different-shoes stories give me weelchair-bound Bruce Wayne in his 50s making a bat sanctuary in the Wayne Manor gardens and discreetly doing detective work while his kids run the errands, and his worst case is Joker that he meets by the end of story and Joker kisses him on the cheek and tells him "thank you for all your hard work," before he fuck offs again.

I just remembered that I've seen all of Modern Family and it was honestly kind of a shock. I can remember thinking the writing was excellent but I honestly cannot remember a single thing about that show. Not a single plot or character has stuck in my mind in a meaningful way. I remember that they were well-crafted and entertaining, I do not remember them. That show is just a white vacancy in my brain with "tightly written, clever" stamped on top.

Story - summarized

At the birthday party, Nikki is enjoying everyone's company, even if it is a bit chaotic. Finally, the fireworks start. They bloom in the sky, spelling out Nikki's name. It is then she remembers something from years back.

When she was 9, her family took her to an amusement park for her birthday, and they waited until night to watch the fireworks. Before then, Nikki's sister, Yoyo, gave her a camera to use to take photos.

But when the fireworks started, Nikki was so immersed that she forgot to take pictures. And it was too late by the time she remembered.

Yoyo cheered her up with a fairy girl's wand. The sparkles looked exactly like fireworks.

Next day, the mom made Nikki a birthday cake - but Nikki was afraid of losing it forever, like the fireworks. Her mom assured her that if you remember things and hold onto those memories forever, then nothing will ever be lost.

Nikki returned to the present moment and makes a wish as the last of the fireworks go off.

-Nikki also went to an amusement park in Dream Bloom. It was for the first anniversary of the game.

-Fireworks play a big role in Marina's Reflection for Exploding Fireworks. She saw them for the first time in one of the Designer's Mirrors and wanted to see them in person.

-When Nikki couldn't get the camera to work, she gave it to her father. The two of them went on a photography trip in Sweet Dream, where he showed her how to take good photos.

Fun Facts

-So far, each of Nikki's birthday designs have been a different attribute: first year was Pink/Sweet, second year was Purple/Sexy, and this time it's Green/Fresh.

-One of the cake ingredients was longan. Longan is a tropical fruit that's in the same family as lychee, rambutan, and soapberry.
