Alcidion expands UK reach with maiden Welsh contract
Healthcare technology business Alcidion (ASX: ALC) has sealed a five year agreement with the Hywel Dda University Health Board in Wales for the provision of its Miya Precision platform.
The deal is structured as an annually recurring subscription licence with a total contract value (TCV) of about $5.5 million over the five year term. It also includes an option to extend for a further two years which could lift the TCV to $7.7 million.
It marks Alcidion’s first contract win with a Health Board in Wales and builds on the company’s growing presence in the UK healthcare market.

Improved patient care
As part of the agreement, Alcidion will provide Hywel Dda with its flagship Miya Precision platform designed to enhance clinical decision-making, workflow efficiency, and patient safety by integrating and analysing healthcare data in real-time.
The offering will include the company’s ‘Miya Precision for Patient Flow, Observations and Assessments and Smartpage’ tool used for clinical communications and tasking.
This technology enables clinicians to respond proactively to patient needs by optimising resource allocation, providing clearer insights into vital signs in patients, and streamlining their journeys.
Expanding presence in UK healthcare
The contract win follows a competitive tender process and highlights Alcidion’s growing role in the digitisation of the UK healthcare sector.
The company first entered the UK market in 2018 with the acquisition of leading supplier of healthcare software, Patientrack. Since then, it has grown its footprint by securing multiple contracts with NHS Trusts and Health Boards in the region. In total, Alcidion has 40 clients and serves 132 hospitals in the UK.
Miya Precision will now be integrated across Hywel Dda’s vast network which spans 380,000 people across west Wales and includes four acute hospitals, five community hospitals, two integrated care centres, and a range of primary and community care providers.
Alcidion chief executive officer and managing director, Kate Quirke, commented:
“Introducing Alcidion’s Miya Precision Platform will support Hywel Dda to centralise and digitise essential patient information, optimising multiple inputs of clinical information and patient care metrics across its diverse service network to support improved patient flow and capacity management as well as clinical management of deteriorating patients.”
Growing momentum
Alcidion has acquired multiple healthcare IT companies and expanded its foothold in the UK, Australia, and New Zealand since its listing on the ASX in 2011. Overall, it now services more than 400 hospitals and 87 healthcare organisations with further geographic expansion possibly on the cards.
In Australia, the group recently secured a $3.7 million deal for its Miya Precision platform with Victorian public health service provider Peninsula Health. It also locked in a $4.5 million contract with Northern Adelaide Local Health Network late last year.
Overall, Alcidion delivered $13.1million of new and renewal sales during the second quarter of the 2025 financial year (FY25). Its contracted revenue for the second half of FY25 was reported at $30.8 million, excluding any contribution from its North Cumbria contract or any other new deals which could materialise.

Trump may be about to sign the death sentence of the National Institute of Health, and, by extension, the Office of Lab Animal Welfare.
He gutted research animal protections.
Any vertebrate that isn't a mammal will have no rights.
Neither will mice or rats.
If NIH grants are stopped, researchers can't pay anyone. They can't perform research. They can't pay for veterinary services.
They won't be required to provide veterinary services.
The only medical research that will happen will be self funded by big pharma, and they can torture the animals and skew all the lab results that they want.
Just like Musk did to the primates in his neuralink research.
I don't know what's going to happen to me or anyone else at the university where I work. My job is to make sure the animals are treated humanely and to provide veterinary care. I'm especially scared about what's going to happen to those research animals if veterinary staff gets laid off. The USDA only covers mammals, and it doesn't even cover all of them. Every rat I've ever made a tiny paper gift box full of marshmallows for, every mouse I've ever watched grow up, every rodent I've ever separated from an aggressive dominant brother and then treated their tiny wounds, they have no protections if NIH goes down. Decades of research into humane handling, euthanasia, and animal behavior will be tossed aside and wasted.
Please, do everything you can. Protest. Contact your representatives. Anything you can do. Do it for science, for medicine, for people's lives, for people's jobs, and for the animals.

i know people have a lot of stereotypes about what service dogs and their handlers are “supposed” to look like, and it confuses people to see a young, seemingly able bodied punk rocker with a service dog.
but i share this to say, that if you as a disabled person don’t see a life for yourself, you can create one. when i started to realize i was disabled almost 10 years ago, i certainly didn’t imagine this is where i’d be now. in fact, i didn’t even plan to making it to this point.
but a diagnosis doesn’t have to mean the end of the world. sometimes your world is just beginning. some people are of the belief that everything happens for a reason. me, not so much. i’ll never be grateful for the suffering i experienced in this world, but i will always, always be glad i chose to stay in it.

How big a role did the colourful image of popsicles play in the Alberta government’s decision yesterday to drop the appalling Alberta Health Services policy of not providing frozen treats, juice boxes, water and snacks to kids recovering from cancer treatments? Never mind the letterhead on the memo or the excuses we’re hearing now. It’s the Alberta government that owns the penny-wise, pound-foolish policy that under the circumstances can only be described as depraved. As a cost-saving strategy, the measures outlined in nearly impenetrable bureaucratese in the memorandum from the senior operating officer responsible for nutrition, food, linen and environmental services at AHS were both foolish and heartless.

“In a stroke of revenge for Donald Trump and Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., thousands of employees of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention lost their jobs Tuesday.
The “reduction in force” affected workers across many departments vital to U.S. public health, including the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, the Division of Population Health, the Division of Reproductive Health, the Division of HIV Prevention, the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, and the Division of Environmental Health Science and Practice, Wired reports.
Even programs at the centers on Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion as well as HIV, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and Tuberculosis Prevention were affected. The HIV program reportedly lost at least half of its workforce. Employees across the agency received notices via email beginning 5 a.m. Tuesday, with some workers showing up to their offices to find their ID badges didn’t work anymore.
“I regret to inform you that you are being affected by a reduction in force (RIF) action,” the email notice stated, according to Wired. “This RIF does not reflect directly on your service, performance, or conduct. It is being taken solely for the reasons stated in the memorandum. After you receive this notice you will be placed on administrative leave and will no longer have building access beginning Tuesday, April 1, unless directed otherwise by your leadership.”
One CDC employee told the magazine that “[t]here has been no effort in allowing staff to transfer projects, programs, or responsibilities.” Even the Freedom of Information Act office at the CDC, as well as the FDA’s communications and web office, were cut.
