I wish I had know this so much earlier in life, but thoughts like “my childhood was super normal and pleasant why do I feel so broken” are symptomatic. They scream repressed trauma.
If you find yourself wondering things like that regularly, you could very possibly have (c)ptsd or any number of other traumagenic mental health conditions. You should consider at least doing a little research on your own if nothing else.
If you feel chronically miserable or broken or isolated or lost that suffering is valid, always. You must have lived though something awful in order to feel that kind of darkness.
You are a survivor even if you’re not sure what you survived, and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

Lust pretending to be a dragon. He has only one eye, other side just has a grim scar over the should-have-eye-here. He's a bit rough looking even in dragon standards so he usually gets the space he needs. (Dragons are part of "people" in my headworld so this is count more normal that the default skeletal metal raptor unicorn.)

So it’s been a long while since I’ve really felt able to create anything but on Thursday I met with a psychologist and part of the homework he gave me before treatment starts is to try and sketch or be a little bit creative every day if possible but 3 days of the week minimum. His thought is to try and get me back into a habit that helps me get back to who I am at the core, rather than just constantly living in survival mode. I don’t even know when I fell out of it but he’s definitely right it is something I need to do.
So here we have the results of my sketching from yesterday and today: the anxiety monster
I wanted to make something from scratch so that I wasn’t focusing on if it looked correct or not, so I just decided to focus on how I was feeling, at that moment I was feeling like I had too many thoughts and worries all trying to burst out of me, and that’s what I drew.
I know it’s not a big thing but after almost a year of very little drawing I’m so proud of myself for doing it.
