1977 Pontiac Grand Prix
A complete reworking of the front header and bumper highlighted the 1977 Grand Prix, which was the final year for the 1973-vintage bodyshell that was set to be replaced by a downsized GP for 1978. The parking lamps were now positioned between the quad headlamps (same setup as a 1967 or 1968 Oldsmobile Cutlass), and the previous year's 'waterfall' grille was replaced by a narrower one that extended into the lower portion of the bumper. Behind the bumper were new reinforcements (mounting panels) made from aluminum rather than steel to reduce weight. In back the taillights were simplified to eliminate the weighty pot metal bezels that created the horizontal stripe effect in 1976. The same three models (J, LJ, and SJ) were carried over with engine revisions. The base Model J got Pontiac's new 135 hp (101 kW) 301 cu in (4.9 L) V8 as standard equipment, which was much too small and underpowered to propel a 4,000-pound car. Optional engines included a 160 hp (119 kW) 350 cu in (5.7 L) V8 or 180 hp (130 kW) 400 cu in (6.6 L); those two engines standard on the LJ and SJ models, respectively. The original thinking on the 301 CID engine was that the weight savings from using a significantly lighter engine would cancel out the horsepower loss from the smaller displacement. This turned out to be a major miscalculation and 301 equipped cars became much less desirable among Grand Prix enthusiasts and collectors in later years. The 301 also had a knocking (pre-ignition) problem that was later determined to be caused by the shape of the combustion chamber.
Each of those engines were Pontiac-built units as in previous years, but offered in 49 of the 50 states. Because Pontiac's own V8 engines could not meet the more stringent California emission standards set for 1977, all Grand Prixs (and other Pontiac models) sold in California were powered by Oldsmobile-built engines including Lansing's 350 cu in (5.7 L) "Rocket V8" for J and LJ, and the 403 cu in (6.6 L) Rocket V8 standard on the SJ and optional on the other two GPs in California. Due to a shortage of Olds 350 engines resulting from record sales of Cutlasses and reduced production of that engine due to a plant conversion to build a Diesel V8 beginning in 1978, a few 1977 Grand Prixs destined for California reportedly came off the line with a Chevrolet-built 350 cu in (5.7 L) V8.
Grand Prix sales increased to an all-time high of over 270,000 units for 1977, the last year for this bodystyle, despite competition from a newly downsized and lower-priced Ford Thunderbird introduced this year and a restyled Mercury Cougar XR-7 whose bodyshell switched to the T-Bird this year from the discontinued Ford Torino/Mercury Montego.

Hi,.....if you don't mind me asking, can I ask your top 5 (or top 3) favorite characters from SVSSS? And why you loved them? And your top 5 favorite moments from the novel? Sorry if you've answered this question before....Thanks....
Sorry for the late reply, I was offline for a bit when it was sent and the notif got buried!
Characters
Yue Qingyuan. I think it will come as no surprise to anyone given my blog title and header lol. Explaining why I love him so much would turn into a full character analysis, but he is just So soggy and bitable. He tries so hard but lives in a world where he's destined to fail, both because of his background and the narrative he's trapped in. He cares so much in a world that will never reward him for that. He repeats the same mistakes over and over because he can't see an alternative path. He is SO SAD AND SO DIVORCED and so traumatized but probably has a complete inability to recognize that fact and he loves and loves and loves but love is not enough to save anyone.
Shen Jiu. He's probably the reason I'm obsessed with SVSSS, instead of just having a passing interest. A week or two after I read the novel for the first time, I started thinking about him and just ended up full on weeping. I find his character incredibly compelling; I love absolute messes, and I really really love seeing a depiction of trauma where the character does not come out stronger or "beautifully broken". It's hard not to be compelled by a character who literally represents the cycle of abuse, who is allowed by the narrative to be both tragic victim and heinous abuser, who is allowed to show what abuse does to people. On a lighter note, I find his younger personality very funny, especially with his dynamic with Yue Qi. He's an absolute gremlin and he lends well to absurdity in lighter fics.
Luo Binghe. Who doesn't love the protagonist!! My reasons for loving Binghe overlap with my reasons for loving SJ— they're foils after all— but I think the core of it is that Binghe is just Deeply Human. He’s just a little guy who’s desperate to be loved. He’s a poorly trained puppy biting down to hold on to the only person who’s ever treated him properly. He’s never done anything wrong in his life.
Shen Qingqiu. His internal dialogue/ narration is why SVSSS is so fun to read! He’s the man shaping this tragedy into a comedy. He’s so insane and so unselfaware, I need to dissect him. Ultimately he’s just a really fun character! 10/10 would chuck him at a wall.
Liu Qingge. He has sword autism what more need I say. I don't talk about him as much on here because my interpretation of him tends to contradict fanon, but I love him so much and I shove him into so many OT3s. Bonus: Qi Qingqi and Mu Qingfang. They're the two background characters with minimal characterization I've latched on to and created massive sprawling headcanons for. This is mostly because I think they are both very sexy.
Moments So fun fact I have clinical memory issues and it’s been a little bit since I read all of SVSSS, so this is WAY harder for me, and I'll definitely miss something. But of what I can recall:
Xiao Jiu threatening to bash another boy’s head in with a rock, and Yue Qi saying “he didn’t mean it”, even though SJ Definitely Meant It and YQ Definitely Knew That. I just find it cute when children are violent I guess 🤣 (Cheng Qian my beloved), and It kind of foreshadows their later dynamic where YQY covers for SQQ without question— YQY thinks he’s doing the same thing as when they were kids, and SQQ thinks YQY is trying to sweep a troublesome mess under the rug. In general, YQY puts a lot more value on their times as slaves than SQQ does/ is more nostalgic for it (probably because YQY’s Intensely traumatic moments were after he joined CQMS, whereas the worst parts of SQQ’s life were all before that point (until Bingge lol))
YQY paying for SQQ’s gambling at the the IAC. Canonized his findom kink.
“My hand slipped 🙂” YQY’s sexist moment in the book imo. Makes me scream on reread.
CQMS will always stand by you 🥹🥹🥹 (honestly any moment where LQG/YQY/the other PLs go to bat for SQQ)
“In this life I’ll give all my loyalty to you” I LOVE THIS LINE SO MUCH AND IM SO SAD MTXT CUT IT IN THE REVISION

Top Five Celeste SJC maps (ive played so far)
im halfway through advanced lobby so no clockwork sorry
yes this is for my one follower who plays celeste (and if u don’t play modded give it a try)(there’s a video explaining how by the strawberry jam yt channel)
In no particular order:
Soap: Might not be incredibly challenging but still very fun, great music, long with loads of secrets, rubber duckies etc. The main appeal is how the gimmick is used so brilliantly to create gameplay at once fun, readable, and compellingly complex.
Frosted Fragments: This is a great intermediate level (with no tech required) that uses the signature pushable blocks in so many brilliant ways, often creating platforms to use later on. The bubbles, dash crystals and moving blocks synergise rlly well with this gimmick. The atmosphere is also exceptional, strangely calm despite the previous disaster revealed by various hidden scraps of paper.
Honeyzip Inc.: might be short but the music and atmosphere are cool and this was my first experience of real nyooom in celeste. very fun.
also i got my header thing from there
Forest Rush: the skateboard gimmick is so cool making radeline go at the speed of sound is so adrenaline and the whole vibe is rlly cool as well i love the decision to have just one really long challenging room at the end filled with high octane gameplay like a c-side if it were skamteboard
Starlight Station: this has the best vibe and progession of atmosphere of any sj map. the way it goes from the indoors to outer space. the custom zippers are sooo flexible so many fun rooms and the massive speed from the auto zipper block things combined with red bubbles makes u go so fucking fast which is just plain fun. gameplay so good I got 2 berries even tho it was my first red advanced and im even considering going back and playing it again thanks for listening to me ramble abt this
goodbye
#celeste#celeste game#radeline#madeline celeste#caras ogs#sorry i just love this game too much#if u disagree too bad kiddo

5 Most Underrated JDM Cars To Modify
Between Drift Tax, Social Media Influencers, and the great import apocalypse, reasonably priced JDM legend cars have become a thing of the past. This leaves prospective enthusiasts to look into less praised platforms to try to find their diamond-in-the-rough, and ultimately the car they will use to cultivate their entire automotive persona, but fret not, the JDM market is full of underrated underdogs that have the potential to catapult you into the illusive 10’s, look tasty on bags, or induce oversteer so snappy that spiral parking ramps will tremble at the very sound of your $100 welded diff. Today we will explore 5 Underrated JDM Platforms to modify… in reverse order.
5. Subaru Forester
The Subaru community has earned the distinction of being one of the most loyal to their platform. Despite headgasket failures, equal-length debates, and industry leading depreciation, Subaru’s bang for its buck can not be overlooked. Often equipped with turbochargers, all-wheel drive, and manual transmissions Subaru is an obvious choice for many, but when we look past the veil of the STi, one model stands above the rest. The Subaru Forester, specifically the SF, SG, and SJ chassis, offers practicality and modularity in a way that has escaped modern commuters. In terms of practicality, this Forester is the ultimate budget camper, friend hauler, and parts hauler thanks largely to it’s wagon. However, where the magic happens… or could happen is right between the headlights. From the factory, these cars came with quite a few engine options, most notably the EJ20T for the SF and SG and the gangster EE20T in the SJ. When paired with one of Subaru’s many 5 speed manual transmissions, this translates to roughly 170 to 230 horsepower making it’s way to the pavement by way of all four tires, and with the right inputs and modifications, that’s fun. Personally, My SG would feature the EJ20T and I’d match it with the full CUSCO Chassis Reinforcement suite and sway bars and bring it down to my level on a set of KSport Kontrol Pro Coilovers. To get the most induction noise possible, I would add a Perrin Cold Air Intake, a Perrin Equal Length header, and an Invidia G200 cat back. To ensure we get the power to the wheels, I would run a McLeod Street Elite Clutch Kit and call it a build, but there’s so much more to do to make your Forester yours.
4. Mazda RX-8
What’s an Iori blog without mentioning Mazda. While I could easily mention one of the 4 generations of Miata, it’s been done. Most of the generations of the RX-7 are quickly becoming unobtanium, so that’s not fair. And despite their development of their new Turbo Inline 6 cylinder engine, Mazda has fallen out of automotive performance grace. However, before the tomb was sealed, Mazda gave us the controversial RX8. While the Renesis didn’t do much in terms of elevating the rotary design, it did serve as both the RX8’s gift and it’s curse. Industry leading engine failures has catapulted the RX8 to Maserati levels of depreciation, meaning a solid running example could be purchased and road worthy for under $5,000. However, the power plant isn’t as important as the RX8 versatility as a high performance motorsport chassis. Truly a car that can be built for any discipline, while boasting the engine bay real estate for JZ, LS, and REW swaps, the RX-8 will forever be tuner car royalty and it’s flexibility is the key of that claim. All swaps aside, my series II RX-8 would breath in through a TAKEDA Retain Stage-2 Pro Dry Intake and out through the A’PEXi Hybrid Mega Evo Catback for maximum flames, but no drone. I would ditch the factory bumpers for the Vertex Lang Full Body Kit, lower it on Tanabe Sustec Pro CR Coilovers, and having performing as well as it looks with a VR Tuned ECU Flash to give my FD3S a run for it’s money. Of course it would be painted Phantom Blue Mica. What about yours?
3. Lexus IS-300
Known by it’s JDM surname, the Altezza, when debuted in Japan October 1998 and announced for release the following year in the United States, was destined to be a low key classic. Picked up by the development team of Need For Speed Underground 2, we got a first glimpse into what the Altezza was capable of. As the 2JZ-GTE dominated the import scene, it’s milder sibling, the 2JZ-GE which powered the IS-300 was vibing in the background waiting for its day in the limelight. Well, that day is finally here. Easily one of the most underrated drift chassis in rotation today, the 1st Gen IS-300 (XE-10) produces enough torque to slide the rear around most grassroots corners and is easily improved upon without breaking the bank. Often called the Honda Civic of the Toyota realm, its simple lines and mass production numbers makes the IS-300 an easy choice for any list of underrated performers. Obviously, my Altezza’s 2JZ-GE would get the full Turbosmart treatment with a splash of Deatschwerks to put me at about 300ftlbs of torque, Endless SS-M Sport brake pads to slow me down, APEXi N1 Type EVX Coilovers to keep me down, and an APEXi WS2 Cat-back to keep the neighbors happy. Before you ask, yes, I would cut the knuckles and retrofit a AgencyPower Handbrake for science.
2. Lexus SC300/SC400
No car fits the monicker of budget Supra better than the SC300/SC400. Similar chassis to the MK-4 Supra, the SC features two very capable power plant options, a luxurious interior, and a resale value so low it’s disrespectful. However, that works in our favor. Available with a big torque V8, but handicapped by its slush box automatic transmission, the SC400 and it’s 1UZ produce an engine note like no other and makes enough power to do just about whatever you would need the car to do. On the other hand, the SC300 is arguably one of the most versatile of the SC platform as it is powered by a 2JZ-GE inline 6 engine that’s begging for forced induction and features manual transmission options. Pair this with the leather interior, digital cluster, and menacing factory stance, you have a car that do VIP or Stance, Drag or Drift, and do it all very well. As for me, I can think of no better use for the budget Supra than holding angle in drift form. That’s why I’d do a body roll delete utilizing Revel Touring Sport Damper Coilovers, support a degree or two of positive rear camber with the Powerhouse Racing Adjustable Rear Control Arms, and keep it classy with he Revel Medallion Touring S Catback Exhaust System. And yes, I would definitely be running a Borg-Warner Pre-Catalytic Converter Muffler (Turbocharger).
1. 1992-2000 Honda Civic
I couldn’t think of a more controversial underrated number one than the 5th and 6th Generation Honda Civic. I know it’s hard to call something underrated when it has the distinction of being one of the most widely modified platforms in history, but hear me out. The late 80’s to 2000 was the Honda Civic’s golden era. Accompanied by the Acura Integra, once these cars hit the used market, the term Lego cars was coined and we began seeing swaps that utilize almost every letter of the alphabet. From B-Series to H2B to Frankenstein D’s to super uncommon ZC swap, you can put almost any Honda power plant in the EG and EK civics without much modification. You can even make them All-Wheel Drive with minimal effort. This and the classic look of the EG and EK Honda Civics, earn my top vote for most underrated Tuner Car. While I don’t have one myself, an EM1 with a H2B (H series Engine, B series transmission), a Garrett G-Series, and a Single Bride GIAS III KING pilot seat, propelled by all 4 wheels is what it would look like if I did. Now, obviously you disagree with me, but let me know what your most underrated JDM cars to modify are. Once you get it, hit us up at Vivid Racing so we can turn your underdog into top dog.
