In case it wasn’t clear, Universe, when Beomgyu said morning he meant eleven o’clock. Earliest. Not ass-crack o’clock and getting woken up by incessant knocking on his door.

He gets up and feels a crick in his neck from falling asleep on the couch. Expecting to see Yuna ready to collect his form that he has not yet filled out, Beomgyu straightens out his shirt, trying to make it look like he didn’t just roll off his couch. He has a total case of bed hair, but that’s hot, right? If he doesn’t draw attention to it, he can pretend it’s on purpose. Girls like messy hair.

With that in mind, Beomgyu opens the door with all the confidence in the world, his winning smile ready on his face, only to fall the moment he sees who is standing outside his room.

“I have a proposition for you.”

You wave a dismissive hand in his face and he swats at it petulantly like it’s a fly. “Please, save the pleasantries. Let me in, yeah?”

“What the fuck, Y/N?”

You, decidedly, were not Yuna. Where Yuna was all soft and shy smiles, here you are, deadpan expression and scowl all over your face.

“What part of that was pleasant to you?” Beomgyu bites out but steps away from the door anyway.

“You fill out that form yet?” you ask, looking around his room. If you were any other person, he might feel a little self conscious about how messy it is, but, as it stands, he’s just annoyed. What are you even doing here?

“No,” he responds curtly, eyeing said form precariously. He doesn’t understand why you even care, honestly. It’s like your sole purpose in life is to annoy him. “What do you want?”

If you can hear the clear irritation in his voice, you ignore it. “Imagine my surprise when my sweet, innocent little freshman—who I graciously took under my wing, mind you—texts me at ten PM asking about extra yearbook club forms because a ‘super cute guy just dropped by’...only to find out that it’s you.”

Beomgyu’s brain flits between a smug Yuna thinks I’m cute and— “You’re Yuna’s Junior Head?” The last bit was meant for his head but judging from the look you’re giving him, he said it out loud.

You just stare at him blankly, clearly unimpressed. “You should count yourself lucky that I didn’t just throw all the extras away once I found it was for you—” Beomgyu scowls— “but I guess I was feeling charitable. I came over to drop it off last night but you weren’t here.”

Shit. Yuna being in his room while he wasn’t here was manageable. She seemed too nice, too kind, too had basic human decency and wouldn’t go through his shit. You, however? Beomgyu wouldn’t put it past you to leave a dead rat or something under his pillow. He doesn’t say any of this though, in case you didn’t plant a dead rodent somewhere so as to not give you any ideas. He just shrugs noncommittally. “Went out.”

You hum. “Figured. Which is why I was so surprised to see this.” You pull out your phone and turn the screen to him, the gallery app opened up and there on the screen is—

“What the fuck, is that a dick pic?”

“What?” You turn the phone to stare at it, mouth hanging open slightly.

“Oh my god, did you take an unsolicited dick picture of me? What the fuck, Y/N? That’s, like, so uncool, what the fuck?”

“Oh, relax, it’s not yours. You should be so lucky.” Beomgyu has half a mind to strangle you right then and there. You swipe at the screen a few times before huffing out a breath and showing him the screen again. “This is what I was talking about, my god.”

And it’s him. Sonic. In his famous and easily identifiable blue and white suit, the grey embroidered lightning bolt running down his entire spine, body halfway out of his bedroom window, about to start his patrol. Holy shit.

Beomgyu can feel his eyes bulging out of his head. No, no, no, this can’t be happening. He’s been so careful! Sure, sneaking out of his window almost every night wasn’t the smartest idea but he had limited options! And he always made sure that there was no one around on the streets and he was literally as fast as light. He never had to worry about anyone seeing him because he moved faster than the brain could compute. This was never supposed to happen!

You hum, either oblivious to his internal panic or simply not caring, it’s not clear. “Interesting, right?”

“Uh…” Beomgyu says smartly.

Pocketing your phone, you clasp your hands together in front of you. “Now, this is where my proposition comes in.”

He groans dramatically, already preparing himself for the worst. “What do you want?”

“Get me an interview with him. With Sonic.”

“What?” Okay. He did not prepare for that.

“You heard me,” you say, shrugging, as if what you said was a completely normal request. “Otherwise this photo gets posted and the whole school finds out that you are Sonic’s secret bootycall.”

“I’m his what?”

This is insane—You are insane. Beomgyu would have laughed out loud at the absurdity of the situation if you weren’t standing here in front of him, arms crossed across your chest, clearly serious.

He baulks. “No, I am not getting you an interview with Sonic, are you insane?” It isn’t even a serious question because Beomgyu knows the answer to that. You are a citizen of Crazy Town, Population of One.

“Well, why not?”

“Aside from the fact that there is literally nothing I would rather do less, I don’t like you.”

You scoff, rolling your eyes. “I’m not crazy about you either, believe me. But you clearly know him.”

“That’s inconsequential and can’t be proven.”

“I have literal photographic evidence of him leaving your room.”

“Gah!” Beomgyu feels like he’s nine years old again, arguing about one thing or the other with you in class to the annoyance of your teachers. You always had a knack for getting on his nerves and it doesn’t help that the two of you were put in the same class every year for school. Even when his family moved from Daegu to Seoul and he thought that finally he was free from you, you had transferred to the same school as him.

He genuinely thinks that the two of you aren’t able to have a normal conversation without arguing. (It was actually suggested by one of your high school teachers that it might be best if you just join the debate team together. Bad idea. Him and you on the same team? Yeah, right.)

Going to college has been a sort of safe haven from being around you all the time, even if you did, once again, follow him to the same exact school. He’s just glad that the two of you are doing completely different courses and that the campus is big enough so it is almost virtually impossible to run into you. That is, of course, when you are not tracking him down to his room. “What do you even want an interview with him for?”

You look like you want to fight him. He can see your jaw clenching and your eye is twitching a little, a telltale sign that you are reaching your patience with him, and he is prepared to get into it with you when you uncharacteristically let out a frustrated groan and proceed to throw yourself onto his couch.

“Ugh!” you whine, pressing the heel of your hands to your forehead. “The newspaper committee has this stupid, dumb as fuck, running competition for all the junior editors to decide who will be Editor in Chief next year and stupid, dumb as fuck, Park Sunghoon’s stuff keeps getting chosen over mine because ‘No one wants to read about how there is no hope to stop global warming, Y/N. People want to believe they can make a difference. Why don’t you write about plastic straws instead, like Sunghoon?’ and—Ugh!

“Up until now my plan was to just, like, kill Sunghoon so the spot would go to me by default, but now I can interview an actual superhero and no matter how many stupid fucking turtles Sunghoon writes about saving, there is no way he can get a front page over that. So. Get me that interview.”

Beomgyu blinks dumbly, physically recoiling. “Uh. Okay…”

“Okay?” Your eyebrows furrow.

“Not okay okay, just…okay. Like, woah, okay, that’s. A lot.” Beomgyu thinks that this might be the most you’ve ever said to him in one go that did not include you cursing him out or complaining about how annoying he was. It was weird and a little disconcerting. He didn’t like it.

“I know.”

“It’s the most you’ve ever spoken to me in one go.”

Your face twists up at that. “Gross. Don’t make it weird.”

“You’re the one asking for my help, remember.”

“No, no, this is blackmail,” you correct, wagging a finger in his face and he slaps it away.

“You can’t even prove it’s my room.” He knows it’s futile, that he really has no choice but to give in, but just like the sun can’t help shining, he can’t help fighting with you.

“Oh, please, the people at this school are stupid and will believe anything. Plus, now that I’ve seen what the inside of your room looks like, I can just work a little photoshop magic and add things that are recognisable, have your friends comment on how the room looks a little familiar, and boom. My work is done.”

Beomgyu studies your face carefully, looking for any cracks that prove your bluffing, but he knows you and if there was one thing about you, you never bluffed. Everything you said, you meant. Fuck, he can’t let that photo get out. You might believe that he’s not Sonic and that he just knows him, but others might not and it would only be a matter of time before someone makes the connection between him and his superhero persona.

You raise a single eyebrow. Beomgyu sighs loudly, defeated. This, he tries to rationalise, is the lesser of two evils. “God, fine. I’ll get you that interview.”

“Great!” You jump to your feet with a flourish, very clearly satisfied with yourself and Beomgyu’s scowl deepens. You hold a hand out for him to shake and he pointedly ignores it, not that you care. “I’ll text you where he should meet me. Pleasure doing business with you. Also, get that form handed in. And stop seducing my freshman!”

He watches as you leave his dorm and feels like he’s just ran three laps around Seoul (and yes, he’s done that before). Throwing himself onto his couch, he covers his face with a cushion and lets out the most frustrated scream of his life, then abruptly stands up. Walks over to his door. And locks it.

1. why did you choose your url?

i love khaotung. khaotung was obsessed with the capybara song last year before i even knew who he was. capybaras happen to be a very common animal in the region i live. i was very happy they were getting the recognition they deserved. put them together, we have lovely khao + capybaras = khaopybara (i'm also super sure i've seen people here and on tw use this and i just stole it. i'm not creative especially when it comes to usernames).

2. any sideblogs? if you have them name them and why you have them.

i have two other sideblogs. @tuseryoo for all of the gifs i make so i can have all of them in one blog just because, so i feel like i'm not losing track of the things i create (even though i haven't updated that one in a while), and @captain-xandis that some moots might have noticed in their notifications bc i recently created that one to post gifs about critical role, but i always forget to check which blog appears on top of the thingy, so i'm constantly deleting and reblogging things in the right blog these days.

3. how long have you been on tumblr?

as of july 3rd, i've been here for 11 years now, so since 2013? which tracks with my super strong k-pop phase tbh.

ha, i was into super junior. and i was experimenting with fandom for the first time at the time. that's it. i felt like tumblr was a lot more creative and pretty than twitter or facebook, so i stayed.

i am a mook defender and apologist. i also think aya is super cute and super pretty. i change icons so often though, i blame all the pretty women in qls these days for making me change it all the time.

We have 12 days left of September, which means Spooky Month officially starts soon & you know what that means.

🌕 Kinktober 2023 Creature Feature 🌕

But it also means that the long overdue sequel to Did You Hear That? is coming! She's a hefty girl with just over 18k words so desktop may be the best option to read and reblog as mobile has issues with anything over 10k.

It also means, the three spin-off pieces for the Library of Illusion are coming as well as a little piece I've written for Joshua. All in time for Spooky Month!

Along with Kinktober I have a few announcements. See more under the cut!

First, I have made the decision to add NCT (all sub-units), Day6, Super Junior, & Wonho to my archive. I no longer feel inspiration to write for them and do not want anyone waiting for content for them. I hate to leave Day6's Creature Feature unfinished but, sometimes that's the way things happen. This decision is final but I reserve the right to change my mind at any time.

From now on, I will be writing exclusively for Seventeen, Stray Kids, Ateez, & TXT. My rules for Kai (TXT) remain the same: absolutely no smut. That is my son. My child. I will also only write for Yesung and Z.Tao when the inspiration comes. My brainrot for both of those men is insane.

In addition, as my masterlists for these groups continue to grow, I will be creating masterlists for individual members.

That being said, I obviously won't take down any of my posts for these new archived groups, but I will change the masterlists just a bit so navigation is a tad easier.

Second, I will start using my other blogs effective immediately. I have a lot of sideblogs.

I will be using my main to reblog everything but my writing. All pictures, gifsets, etc will be posted there from now on.

I will also be using my recs blog, which I plan to redo entirely with a new tag system.

Third, I want to remind you all that my inbox here is always open. I love receiving mail. I love talking & interacting with you.

Hi, I'm booki or simply ki。

I'm in my early 30's

I'm a multistan and follow many kpop groups and have been since 2007.

My top three are seventeen, stray kids, and ateez.

I also love txt, twice, day6, itzy, nct, super junior, bts, shinee, exo, monsta x (and wonho), got7, big bang, sunmi, chungha, queen wa$abii, futuristic swaver, flowsik, psy, KARD, a handful of western artists, and some j-pop/rock/rap as well.

I'm based in the US (CST). My best friend is Sky (@/yoonguurt).

I love animals and my favorites are snow leopards, red pandas, and giant pandas. (Though I'm pretty partial to any kind of bear and anything raccoon or fox-sized). I don't have any pets currently but plan on getting some soon.

My dream job is to work in China at the Chengdu Panda Breeding Research Center but I'll settle for a caretaker at Seoul Grand Park Zoo.

I used to be big into anime but I'm more of a casual fan now. My favorites of all time are: Haikyuu!!, InuYasha, Fruits Basket, Sailor Moon, and Tokyo Mew Mew. I used to cosplay and attended anime and comic book conventions for 12 years. Suffice it to say, I'm a veteran when it comes to anime and k-pop.

Something to consider:

Obviously, I can't stop yall from reading, just know if you are a minor and I see you interacting with my content, you will be blacklisted and blocked. No exceptions. 18+ means just that. 18 and older. If you don't have your age listed on your blog, you will be blocked. If you're just here to read, I understand but at least customize your blog so the content creators you follow KNOW that you aren't a bot.

Lastly, this website is about sharing content. It's not like Instagram or Twitter. Likes, while appreciated, do absolutely nothing to boost our posts. Reblogs do. Side blogs are incredibly easy to make here. I would know, I have far too many than I care to admit. Please, please, please reblog and leave feedback. It helps us creators learn what readers like and dislike. It also helps our posts reach a wider audience.

oh, i definitely think indycar provides better work-life balance for drivers. there are, i suppose if you want to be technical about it, 2 doubleheaders and 2 triple headers (albeit 1 of these triple headers includes Iowa, in which there are 2 races in 2 days. so that portion of the race calendar spans 2 weeks, not 3). the largest flight time for any of these would be about a 4 hour flight from worldwide technology raceway to portland. for reference, f1 has 2 triple headers and 6 double headers in 2023, with 2 of the double headers essentially traveling between states in the US and countries in the middle east (for reference, a nonstop flight between miami and baku would take more than 14 hours. between las vegas and abu dhabi is about a 17 hour flight).

jet lag isn't really a thing. the biggest time difference an indycar driver would have to contend with is the 3 hour differences between the east coast and the west coast.

the 2023 indycar season consists of 17 races; the 2023 f1 season consists of, as of now, 23 races. the indycar season concludes on september 10; the f1 season concludes on november 26. indycar drivers get more than 2 months more of breaks between seasons.

while i appreciate the technical and engineering side of f1 as a stem student, racing-wise it seems to dilute the competition instead of improve it. f1, you're basically counting on 3+ drivers dnfing for someone who hasn't won more than one race to get a win, 6+ drivers to actually get a super shocking or first time winner. for reference, there were 9 different winners in indycar last year. mathematically, it was still possible for 5 different drivers to win the indycar championship going into the final race last year; we had known who the f1 champion had been long before the final f1 race. team orders aren't really a thing in indycar; EVERYONE is allowed to fight for position/a win.

this isn't meant to downplay f1 at all; most of the drivers i support race in f1. but realistically, unless they're actually in a top team where they can truly show their skill and reach their full potential, i would 100% prefer the drivers i support to take a seat in a series (even aside from indycar) where they are capable of accomplishing things without f1 fans who don't even understand the motorsport they're watching going "oMG he's spent years in a backmarker/the midfield and still hasn't won a race? TALENTLESS" or some other bullshit.

i also just hate the superiority complex of some f1 fans. i don't really think you can argue any motorsport where money/politics/nepotism speak louder than talent a significant amount of times is actually filled with "the 20 most talented drivers in the world." there's even drivers in indycar who didn't have the financial means to continue their junior careers in europe. a driver who is thought to be as talented as leclerc, russell, etc. was sidelined for a year while f1 drivers who had significantly underperformed in 2021 kept their seats for 2022, continuing to massively underperform. it's entirely elitist to view f1, where your family basically had to have an additional $200,000+ conveniently sitting around to even support a junior karting career, as inarguably "the 20 best drivers in the world."

i know watching sports is time consuming but i genuinely think that fans should try to watch other series to have a different perspective on racing in general and f1. also it's fun ! i love watching different things then watching idk wec and recognising drivers

She wraps her arms around him, hands spread across his back and kisses him harder, moves with a little more urgency, which he returns, mirroring her motions.  

So… what base are we talking about? Max had asked her earlier, with that mischievous smile, clearly more than first. Chrissy hadn’t been able to answer the question, instead finding herself short of words and bright red, which Max had found super amusing.

If he wants, I would-” she realizes.  There would usually be rules to follow, things to consider, but Eddie somehow falls outside of all of that and all she wants is to have him closer, feel him more.

She reaches behind her own back to unhook her bra, and he moves one hand to her hip to help her balance, as the other slides into her hair.

“Don’t you get a headache, wearing your hair up like this all the time?” he laughs (clearly at himself ) as one of his rings gets caught in the base of her ponytail.

“According to my mom it flatters my face shape like this and when I wear it down my face looks fat,” she can’t help giggling, even though it is something that haunts her every time she looks in the mirror.

“That is absurd,” Eddie scoffs in clear disbelief.  “Hold on a minute…”

He carefully frees her hair from its scrunchie and the elastic underneath, running his hands through to let it fall free around her shoulders.

“You look gorgeous,” he tells her, moving one hand back into her hair and staring into her eyes so she can see the sincerity in his.

can we start a discussion about the original hunters trailer and that scene between j/c. like guuys that smile is probably there because kate is excited to kiss robert.

It drives me nuts knowing that they filmed that scene but we will never ever get to see it.

I mean it is bad enough that they decided not to include it in the actual episode. Like, what was the rationale there? Why get to the point of filming it (and using it for the promo) and then make a sharp u-turn?

Was every take they filmed just too sexy for Star Trek?

Did Kate take one look at the footage and persuade them not to air it because of Tim had seen it he would have KNOWN?

Did the producers (who at this point pretty much hated Robert and he hated them) take one look at it it and realize that people were going to be too into this and after showing that kiss they wouldn't just be able to sideline Chakotay? (Despite Berman's asinine claim that nobody wanted to watch two middle aged people kissing two seasons later)

But it has also been like 20 years and that footage has never emerged. No deleted scene inclusion. No behind the scenes. No blooper. No nothing. I would pay good money for that footage, but Paramount will never give it to us and that haunts me.

"I hope you didn't learn that from me," his uncle says, and then when Eddie makes a confused face, he clarifies, "Thinking you should settle for whatever scraps you're offered, that you aren't worth more than that."

"Uncle Wayne..." Eddie doesn't know what to say to that, discovering that even though his uncle is the one person who has ever put him first he might think Eddie doesn't see that.

"I know it is a little 'do as I say, not as I do' but don't you let anyone use you at their convenience and disregard yours."

"Wait... What?"

"That Cunningham girl, she's pretty sure, but you are worth more than-"

"Wait... you know ?!"

"Eddie..." his uncle pauses and sighs, "I recognize I might not be the most hands-on of parental figures, but I do pay some attention to what is going on in your life."

"Chrissy isn't what you think she is," he feels the need to clarify.  "She's..."

He feels himself blushing, thinking about Chrissy, trying to think of a way to say how he feels about her out loud even to his uncle.

"I’m not trying to insult your girl. This isn’t a speech about you deserve better than her, Eddie.  It’s about you knowing that you deserve more from her, from anyone.  That you don’t just have to accept whatever you’re offered and never ask for more.”

“What makes you think I am not getting what I want?”

“So you want to be a shameful secret? Look… I know I’m not the world’s best role model.  I’ve tried to do the best I can by you, but watching me and how I live my life… I worry you have picked up on habits I never meant for you to adopt.”

“You want to know what watching you taught me?” Eddie replies, tenderness for this man who tried to be so much more for a nephew he never asked to have dropped on his doorstep than anyone had ever been for him.  “You taught me that when you care about someone, when you love them, you do whatever you have to in order to give them what they need, what is best for them, even when they don’t ask for it… even when they tell you it isn’t necessary.”

“Eddie…”

“So that’s what I’m doing.  I’m being there for Chrissy, but also I’m protecting her.  The last thing she needs is every day to become a gauntlet of dealing with everyone else’s reactions to us.   And I don’t need her to shout from the rooftops how she feels about me… I don’t need that because of something else I learned from you: actions do speak louder than words.  You didn’t have to tell me you cared about me, trusted me, believed in me.  You have shown me that every day since you took in a scrawny, bruised, smart mouthed, little twelve year old and gave everything you had to take care of me.”

“Oh hell…” His uncle isn’t one for big speeches, and Eddie knows that it took a lot for him even to bring this subject up.  “You’re the best thing that has happened to me, kid.  My life might be small and shabby but having you here, watching you grow into the man you are becoming, seeing the passion you have for your games and your music and everyone around you… you have made it so much brighter.”
