wrt: spain/france i think its really funny that francois spent 2 full centuries trying to ruin antonio's marriage so that he could get with that perfect specimen of manhood and his fat ass, and then immediately got bored with him and went back to obsessing over his foulmouthed bilge rat (no ass) and also a poorly-socialized violent greyhound (also 0 ass)

I first came into contact with musical instruments when I was around 6 years old, when I started playing with the piano we had at home as a toy, so I didn't learn how to play formally. I started playing an instrument purely for my own enjoyment.
My parents had such a painful past, so they tried to create an environment where I could discover the joy of music in a more natural way. They didn't pressure me to take piano or guitar lessons every day, but instead encouraged me to just naturally start playing with the instruments around me when I liked them, and eventually discover the joy of playing them myself. Thanks to that, my relationship with music is still very positive. I'm very grateful to my parents in that sense.
I did learn some rudimentary playing techniques on the clarinet during music lessons at school when I was in primary school, though. That's the only time I've ever had any kind of formal lessons on an instrument.
Everything else was self-taught, whether it was the guitar, which I started playing when I was about 11 or 12 out of curiosity, or the Hammond organ, Mellotron and synths, which I gradually got into after I started playing in school bands.

Fancasts From Atop Visenya’s Hill
-> Timothy Spall as Ser Illifer the Penniless
Ser Illifer bore gold and ermine gyronny, though everything about him suggested that painted gold and painted ermine were the only sorts he'd ever known. He was sixty if he was a day, his face pinched and narrow beneath the hood of a patched roughspun mantle. Mail-clad he went, but flecks of rust spotted the iron like freckles.

if i start posting about these godforsaken napoleonic war books i will never stop and everyone will have to unfollow me for their health but what is stephen maturin's deal. jack asks him for a gun and instead of just telling him he doesn't actually have a gun he opens up his holster and hands him the human tumor he was keeping in there for later.

i've listened to the hadestown soundtrack so much over the past month and still it took me ages to realise that when orpheus is referred to as a 'poor boy' it's because he is. literally dirt poor. and that hermes is not calling him a poor little meow meow.

"That... can't possibly be comfortable." is what Tighnari says to break the silence that fell once Kaveh finished his rant about the... new piece of furniture he found upon returning home. He's seen some unique designs himself, some more successful and some less, and even considered getting one for his hut, but. This is just ridiculous. He can certainly feel the architect's pain. "Now, I'm not encouraging you to do anything and you should definitely not start a fire indoors, but it's getting rather cold with winter on the horizon. Perhaps there's still hope for that thing to have some use." if it doesn't become a shelf / coat hanger instead. Anything to keep it out of sight.
[ Sorry, not sorry, I had to-- ]
@drolliic || Answered!
"It can't possibly be legal!" Kaveh shrieked, shrill and bordering on hysterics. He'd been in this state for the better part of half an hour now, with no end in sight. Not so long as that affront to design and interior decorating mocked him from where Alhaitham had placed it in the living room.
"It's the most horrific, impractical, offensive excuse for a piece of furniture I've ever seen! Whoever designed this should be arrested as a menace to society and banned from making anything ever again!" If only he could convince Cyno to actually do that—or better yet, to arrest Alhaitham for the outright assault that was forcing Kaveh to look at it with his own two eyes.
Tumblr media
The architect devolved into wordless, pained moans as he buried his face in his hands. "I'm not going to make it until winter with that thing in this house. Maybe I'll drag it into the desert and throw it into the Wenut Tunnels. He'll never find it there."

just thinking about how the little acorn Bilbo picked up was also maybe Bilbo looking for a talisman that didn't fill him with weird dark thoughts like his lucky ring did
i just have this headcanon that hobbits carve the initials of their beloved in trees. and the Shire is filed with carved trees of young couples show their love to the outside world.
Tumblr media
But Bilbo never found anyone to awaken that desire to also carve a tree until he meets Thorin. And he's unsure, doesn't want to really think the thought out loud but as his relationship with Thorin grows he wants to plant this own tree somewhere in the Shire. And watching in grow until one day it will be strong enough to carve. Maybe Thorin will visit once this adventure is all over? Oh, wouldn't that be nice? Maybe he'll show Thorin then, if he's feeling really brave. He's not sure he'll ever be.
Tumblr media
Bilbo is reminded at Beorn's house about that practise of wood carving, because Beorn's house is filled with all sort of handmade woodcarvings and it reminds Bilbo of Bag End. Because Bag End is also filled with little carvings that Bungo put there for Belladonna. Because he loved his wife so much. And teenage Bilbo probs thought it was stupid and embarrassing but now he understood that desire. So he picks up the little acorn because not just any tree of the Shire will do it has to be one of the place where he discovered that he too could love in the way his dad loved his mum. But Thorin is a king and he's a dwarf - and he's only a little hobbit of the west. and- oh stopit. better put all these silly thoughts away. But even so - he puts the little acorn in his pocket next to the lucky ring. Even if it's only his little secret daydream he wants to take that acorn with him. so take it he does.

I can imagine the LOV trying to figure out what else Onigiri is opinionated about. Textures… colours… tv-shows.
Then they try out rock music, and suddenly they have a cat head banging hard enough he is practically vibrating as hard as a car engine.
Lol, that would be funny!

Is Iyami more Austin Powers or is Austin Powers more Iyami? Be honest
Austin Powers is more Iyami because Iyami came first! He was created in the early 60s. The very first Osomatsu-kun anime adaptation was made in and broadcast in black and white, which is a particularly adorable piece of trivia to me:

Despite both of them being goofy guys from the 60s with wonky teeth, though, personality-wise they don’t have that much in common, heh.

there's this bit about 15mins into casanova where you meet the young casanova (played by young david tennant) properly, after an intro/tease initially depicting a fantastic chase scene through venice (you love your wife... I love your wife... aren't we both on the same side???) and then going both forwards and back to withhold more of this man until we've understood both where he came from and where he's going a little better. and then we return to young casanova for a second time, reintroduced properly like this:
in a black space, spotlight on him, nude from behind, and then a beautiful rich lush outfit attaches itself to him piece by piece, as if by magic, until he's fully dressed -- both in disguise as is made very clear (he was not a nobleman and was intending to blend in with them), but also as a sort of truth. it's framed as this conscious, highly enjoyable sequence, with casanova participating in the clothes "choosing" him by lifting his arms and legs so that everything can fit, and he stands at the end, delighted, maybe even a tad smug at just how good he knows he looks
that is dr james barry coded, that's what I want to see with anyone putting pen to paper on him from here on out, do away with angst over identity and subterfuge, and have him own it right at the start -- this is a story about a man who made choices consciously, with great passion and delight (although in dr barry's case also with a lot of righteous anger and the unfortunate habit of challenging other men to duels at the drop of a hat), and perhaps he was just a tad smug about how good he looked

I try not to get super political on here, but the New York Times did an annotated breakdown of the (current) charges against Trump and I thought it might be helpful for people who aren't 100% sure what's going on.
