11. do you listen to anything while drawing?

Recently I discovered the OST of the game Dwarf Fortress, I never played it, but the music is vaguely Dwarven themed, as Spotify has noticed I've been listening to a lot of Viking-esque bard songs and tend to prefer instrumental music for focus. I keep gravitating back to Dwarf Fortress as it gives me Erebor vibes with a warm tinge and a hint of sadness, it's a great OST I recommend anyone to check it out and give it a go! Game music tends to be really good for focus in general and I like it so much I intend to get the game whenever it's next on sale!

16. how do you motivate yourself to draw?

That's a good question, I don't have the perfect answer, but I try to keep my tablet close and ready to go and usually have a tab open with something inspiring. I drilled a hole in my desk for my tablet monitor and I have a dedicated spot for my pen and charging cables. The most important thing is to force myself to not sink too much times in video games or other distractions. Creating art is partly discipline and partly creating a space where you feel inspired to practice or draw something for fun. I like to browse Pinterest (despite the AI slop these days T_T) and redraw 1 interesting bit of an image that I like. that usually gets me in the groove to start doodling more and if I'm lucky I have enough focus for a couple of hours to create!

24. whats a compliment about your art that has always stuck with you?

I've answered this one already but I do it again, but shorter. Honesty, I adore- no, I ADORE it when people get unhinged and silly. When people get creative in their reactions and write the silliest answers to express their love, it's the best. it makes me so so giddy.

24. whats a compliment about your art that has always stuck with you?

Hmmm, I've gotten so many nice reactions over the last year, I genuinely enjoy it a lot when people get totally unhinged in the tags or with Discord gifs. Nothing beats dropping a new art piece, (particularly the spicy ones) and waiting in the voice chat for people to give their live reactions. I get so giggly each time. for my more normal art, I often see people describe my work as "very shapey", that it has much movement. I love that! because that's what I'm going after most often. I get, lots of inspiration and references from the great animated moves, so it's great when people see that in my work too!

30. whats something you're proud of about your artstyle?

Honestly, that people seem to recognize my art style is a big compliment in the first place, I struggle a lot with consistency, so its great that people still are able to see my hand in it.

Coloring too seems to going way better than a year ago, I still struggle with a lot of aspects, like like and shadow, but each time I feel like I learn or add something new!

Artist ask game answers (original reblog) Thanks for sending me these questions! Now onto the answers! 4. piece you wish got more love?

It's not so much a single piece, but my 18+ mature artblog (please only click the link if you're over 18.) seems to be really not to be on people's radar at all. I have some more spicy bagginshield pieces on there, but none of them have breached the 100 notes yet. I'm particularly proud of the mithril bikini. ;-) I know I shouldn't have let it affect me that much, but over the summer it has contributed in quite the art slump. However, the love and unhinged lovely reactions in got in the Acorn&Oakleaves Discord did help to soften that a bit.

13. talk about a wip you like!

Ohh I'm working on several, some that people have seen snippets from already, others that are just living rent free in my head. I have a anthropomorphic pieces in my wip folder. one is a Mouse/rat! AU where I have some Bagginshield drawing of them as mice. Below is a little tease!

I've also got a bunch of canon scenes planned. well mostly canon, it's just my interpretation of it. 😉 The piece below has been in my Wip folder for aaaaages, the way I drew him back then was different, a bit too skinny for my taste today. It depicts Bilbo receiving the Mithril shirt. it's a two part piece. With focus on Bilbo's reaction and Thorin looking majestic in his royal armor. Here's a lil tease for that one too!

17. what is something you're confident about in your art?

Oh man, I've been really fluctuating on this, every time I feel like I've been leveling up in my art skill it seems I lose my grip on it completely. I have more bad drawing days that good ones lately!

But If I have to think of something it's about my comfortableness to create "bad" art on art streams. Drawing while people are watching, was incredibly daunting at first. But I've become so much more comfortable with it. And it seems to have started a trend as there are more people doing art streams now! It's been great to see more people share their progress in the server. Just having a buddy with you to talk whatever while you're both creating is just incredibly soothing.

The only downside I've found so far with streaming my art progress is that it's terrible for my focus if I enjoy the convo too much. I need all my brain cells for drawing really, and talking or even knowing that I'm streaming makes it all more difficult to draw well. So I prefer to sketch offline and keep the less difficult parts (like line-art and coloring for people to watch with me. If you are curious about seeing mine or other artist art streams, then I recommend joining the Acorns&Oakleaves Discord server, if you like yapping about Bagginshield and see behind the scenes progress pictures of my work or even talk to me then it's the place to be!

Hello, long time so see dear followers! o/ Couple of weeks ago I've read A Passion For Mushrooms by Chrononautical and it was an absolutely delightful read. I managed to churn out a few sketches. Slight spoilers ahead for chapter 27 - 28!

Bilbo knew how ridiculous he must look, decked out in mithril, weighed down by gold and jewels, with a frying pan tucked into his belt and a crown upon his head like the Fool of April at a spring fair.

The king whirled around to look at Bilbo and froze. Laughter broke out like a wildfire, raging through the hall as every dwarf present immediately saw the humor in Tauriel’s teasing. Coin purses were tossed about, and Bilbo couldn’t help noticing more than a few flying in Gandalf’s direction.

They were just three mathoms and a thank-you present for a decent cook, which he had always known. He had always known that a great, noble king could not fall in love with a Baggins. Somehow, this foreknowledge failed to keep him from crying.

Dropping down to sit among his mushrooms, Bilbo plucked a few within reach and munched on them to console his broken heart.

I really enjoyed working on this. and Thankfully my ADHD brain allowed me to focus enough to draw these. Great fic, truly one of the classics.

I upgraded my Clipstudio license to the latest version and discovered that for some reason it caused my favorite brush not behave anymore like I was used to. Many hours and frustrations later I think I finally got it back to feeling like it was before. So I doodled this Beebo with my newly fixed brush to celebrate.

However this was my face pretty much the whole day.^ Complaining in the Discord server and overall being a big baby about the whole thing.

It reminded me of the trope of the silver pen that Bilbo sometimes receives from Thorin in c ertain fics so this is how he would react if his favorite pen broke.

I feel ya buddy I really do.
