Wei Wuxian of course famously never lied about anything. Definitely never anything majorly important that would have dramatically changed other people's actions if they had had the relevant information...
#untamed stuff#oooooh but he did it to PROTECT jiang cheng#i hear you cry#unlike jin guangyao who lied about his and qin sus relationship for....#...reasons??#oh oh i see because it also resulted in jgy not dying#that doesnt count cool#look in order for you to sacrifice yourself for others#you have to be someone whose death would actually matter at all#and in a position where you dying will meaningfully change#what is happening for the better#yeah

AAAAAAAAAH YEAH THATS HIM the most unglamorous job you can have at 16 he's not thriving but he smiles a lot and is friendly and sometimes his friends or his mom visits him
once again inspired by @digitalstowaway 90's sitcom au, specifically their fanfic that mention's Jin Guangyao having an after school job. im not exactly sure what his after school job is. but my brain immediately jumped to supermarket cashier, we all know he's a customer service girlie ToT
[ ref in reblog via @ribloop ]
#youre in a 90s sitcom wangji#jgy might look a lil passive here he just saw a customer he hates ig#we know hes got that customer service voice and its terrifying/horrifying#he's employee of the month like every month since he started /j#but customer service employee jgy is being shaken around in brain and in these tags#<- prev tags#YES#hes s good at his job his managers love him but hes secretly counting down the days that he leaves for college#hes passive agressive bc wwx jc and nhs came in and theyre all so loud and pay for everything in coins#at least when lwj joins them he keeps them in line#but lwj is absent today and jgy will have to figure out later why that is

4. Hello! I was wondering if anyone has seen any fanfic with canon wwx exchanging places with a wwx that had parents? With canon I just mean orphan and preferably without any good/nice yzy, I just really want to see everyone's reactions to how different he would be of he had parents and wwx's reaction to how his parents are but I haven't been able to find anything like that 😞
I would specially love if it's during the crsa but if it's not that's fine!

6. Hi!! I’m in the mood for fics where people believe A) Wei Wuxian actually birthed A-Yuan (when he didn’t) and B) fics where WWX is inhuman. The ranking seems to consider status, cultivation ability, personality and looks. In this case JGY's status would be as a son of a second wife/concubine (Nie Huaisang was in this position before their father died and NMJ became Sect Leader, leaving him as heir). For the sake of controlling as many variables as possible assume that his cultivation is the same as canon--if he were raised in a Sect and able to begin cultivating earlier he might have been a stronger cultivator, but there's no way to guess by how much.
As far as I know there are no official ranks given for Nie Huaisang, Wen Chao, Wen Xu or Wen Ning. They definitely count, and based on status Wen Xu is probably a decent guess for Mystery Bachelor #6, but who knows!
#I'm mostly interested in whether he's going to beat the pair of incredibly talented‚ handsome sect heirs with no social skills#or WWX who is ranked where he is with a winning smile and no official family to back it up#lan xichen#jin guangyao#lan wangji#jin zixuan#wei wuxian#jiang cheng#nie mingjue#mdzs#the untamed#mo dao zu shi#grandmaster of demonic cultivation#cql

Requested by anonymous: Hello! How are you? Your writing is divine, just...wow, speechless! Can I request a oneshot for LXC? The reader is a cultivator from a completely different country, she has different customs, different fighting style, different weapons, different magic... she traveled all the clans, Nie, Jiang, Jin and even Lan, in every clan everyone liked her even though she had different customs, she was kind and accommodating to everyone, forming strong friendships with JGY and NHS. Then she runs into LXC during one of the walks, literally slamming into him when she wasn't paying attention to where she was going. Of course, LXC didn't get mad, he made sure the reader was okay and went on his way. JGY sees all this and then teases the reader when he saw her blush😂 NHS then becomes something of a messenger as he passes letters from LXC and the reader to the other one 😂I don't know, somehow the request came to me, I hope it's cool, I don't ask for requests too much😄 take care and thank you!👋
Pairing: Lan Xichen x fem!foreigner!reader
Word Count: 2.9k words
You never really expected to find another country, you honestly just wanted to leave your home for awhile. You had set sail on the shores of your home country and now you found yourself on the shore of another. Your boat was wrecked and you went under, only to wash ashore later on while trying to not inhale the salty water. The sun shine down from it's spot up in the sky, making the sand beneath your hands burning hot and the air around you dry. You could practically feel the taunt from the sun as it challenged you, but you could care less. Your weapons felt heavy, the spear on you back was pulling you down back into the water due to it's weight and the twin daggers didn't help you out much either. Your bag was floating somewhere in the water and you didn't even want to think about where all your food went, probably already taken by the sea like your ship.
But even while nearly drowning, you were painfully aware of the eyes on you. Two curious eyes that made you wonder why they were not even in view.
Then you spotted it, a child staring straight at you with big eyes full of curiosity, almost sparkling as they spotted you. The kid wasn't tall, slightly on the thinner side if you'd compare with the children from your country, and you guessed that he'd been an early teenager. He was hidden behind a tree, eyes barely visible as he tried his best to stay hidden. The man behind him, you assumed it was an adult anyway, didn't share that thought as he casually strolled forward out of the woods. He seemed surprised by you and you were just as surprised, he looked quite different from you or anyone you had ever seen before today. He was a bit paler than you, silky black hair and thinner slanted eyes. The grey robes he wore were also unique looking to you, looking nothing like your clothes in the slightest. He spoke, the language unfamiliar to you and not even sounding like anything at first. You held up your hand for him to pause, getting up before focusing your energy to him. He spoke again and this time you understood him fine, thanks to some quick spell.
"Are you alright?" He repeated his question again as he held out one of his hands, which you quickly took with a thanks as you focused your spell to make him understand your words.
"Fine, fine... Could be worse." "Worse than drowning?" He asked and you opened your mouth to retort his statement, but closed your mouth again when you realized he was right. Not much worse than almost dying...
"May I ask who you are?" "Right! The name's (Y/n), pleasure to meet you!" You smiled brightly as you held out your hand to shake, surprised as he just bowed his head while revealing himself to be Meng Yao. The boy from behind the trees had also decided to join you, standing behind Meng Yao while sending you a bright and yet shy smile and introducing himself as Nie Huaisang. The conversation quickly moved on to your place of origin and how toy actually got here, which was then followed by Huaisang offering you a place to stay. You could hardly ignore the kid or his request, so you agreed.
Thus you found yourself on the grounds of the Qinghe Nie clan, meeting Nie Mingjue and being absolutely terrified of the man as he reluctantly agreed to let you stay thanks to Huaisang's pleading look. He reminded you much of your little brother, a cute boy who knew how to get what he wants. Although difficult, you tried to adapt as much as possible to their culture. Huaisang was quick to guide you through everything, starting with giving you a hanfu to wear. It was beautiful, a soft material used instead of the rough fabrics that you were more used to, and details were so difficult to catch that you could spend hours just looking. Then he and Meng Yao taught you some of their customs before explaining that every clan had different ones. It took you a couple of weeks to get the basics of the Nie clan before you set off to the next.
First the Lanling Jin clan, where some disciplines were kind enough to tell you a bit before you set of again thanks to the arrogant teenager(s) that kept mocking you. The second clan you went to was the Yunmeng Jiang clan, where you were taught by the daughter of the head of the clan. Jiang Yanli was the sweetest, never getting annoyed or angry as she taught you everything you needed or wanted to know. Wuxian, her adoptive brother, was even more excited to teach you things (pranks mostly) and he was always present when Yanli taught you. You only saw Jiang Cheng a few times, but you could tell that he was a nice person as well, just not visibly showing it to others. You stayed with them for 3 months, then you moved again to the final clan.
Gusu Lan, one know for it's strictness and their many rules to follow. You didn't really know what to expect from them, so having the kids from Yunmeng and from Qinghe join you for a sort of school was kind of exciting. You were just glad that you were allowed to join them, Meng Yao had sent you a letter saying that he got permission to take you as a Nie representative.
You actually enjoyed the trip up the mountain, unlike the others, as the view as astounding to see and the fresh air instantly woke you up from your drowsiness. Once past the gate, you could only marvel at the structures that were build in between the mountain. Of course you loved all the other clan buildings, but this one had a massive library that you just couldn't ignore. You just wanted to find out what kind of information the books in there had, what kind of knowledge you could possible gain you. Then you were inside, greeted by a man that you could only stare at. All the previous people you had met were attractive, both men and women, but this man was different. Maybe it was because of the confidence that he had or maybe just something else, but he looked dazzling. You almost thought you reached the heavens, the white and blue robes didn't make that thought any better. You also noticed the ribbon weaved through his hair to rest on his forehead, a cloud symbol laying between his eyebrows. It looked intricate and you wondered if you could take a closer look at it in some period of time later on.
You joined Yanli and some other girls to a dorm, settling in quickly after a short introduction. The robes on your bed were soft, feeling almost as soft as the clouds that were painted on the bottom of the robe and you were almost afraid of how quickly you would dirty the white and light blue colors.
A woman entered not much later after you got dresses, her robes a darker blue than you had seen others wear, and she asked everyone to follow her before pausing on you. You expected a mocking comment or something along those lines, the girls from Lanling hadn't been to quiet with their insults, but she just walked closer to you and pulled your belt up a bit before pulling your robes a bit down to make it lay flatter than it had before. You thanked her, bowing your head before following her out like everyone else. You entered a lecture hall, the men were all present already and you quickly joined Huaisang and Meng Yao before looking around. Two men entered, one an elder man that you assumed was the head of the clan when you saw his clothes and the other was the angelic man from the front gate. He was smiling slightly this time, mostly aimed at a younger boy in the front that looked very similar to him. The elder man spoke first, but you hadn't expected him to start rules. At first, you were carefully listening to his words but that changed around the 30th rule or so.
"How many more do we have to listen to?" "There are 3,000 rules in total, all of them are equally important. I do admit their wording could be shorter." You flinched as someone actually answered your question, turning your head slightly to see the angelic man. After blinking a few times, you nodded to acknowledge his words before turning to face the front again. Huaisang, who had heard of the number of rules, was already laying face down on the table and you couldn't help but do the same. It was only at the 580th rule that you shut off your brain, letting go of the translation spell that made you understand the elder and instead trying to push back your growing headache. It was like someone was pushing your head together at the temples, knives pushing into your skull and turning around once inside. It was painful, so much so that you just wanted to lay down and sleep right in this room. You couldn't, obviously, but you opted to just close your eyes instead in hopes that it would lessen slightly by doing so. So you closed your eyes, hoping that you would be left alone as the elder still listed the rules, you assumed he was anyway.
When you opened your eyes again, because of course you had fallen asleep, everyone else was getting ready to leave. You just followed, you didn't want to stay longer at the moment. Your headache, although lessened, was still killing you and you had some medicine in your bag that could help. You didn't wait for anyone, you just want to the dorm and shoved the medicine down with some water. Then you laid down to sleep, quickly moving on to the dream world.
Although it was early in the morning, you were wide awake and bringing with energy. You were the only person, beside the Lan disciplines, that seemed happy to be out for a walk. You didn't know why Huaisang looked so glum, the sights were beautiful and the cold breeze could easily wake up anyone from their slumber. Nonetheless, you talked him through the walk as you walked, a happy skip in your step and a big smile on your face. Your eyes weren't really focused on the road ahead of you, they remained on Huaisang during your conversation. Unfortunately, that also meant that you didn't see that everyone else had stopped. The result? You were abruptly stopped when you slammed into someone's chest, stumbling backwards until the person caught you. You looked up and we're surprised to see Lan Xichen before you, giving you a smile like you hadn't just bumped him.
"Are you alright?" He let go of your waist and you straightened your robes out before nodding at him, trying to ignore the way that your heart skipped a beat and how your face heated up.
"Please be mindful of your surroundings." He said before turning around and walking away, leaving you standing in the same spot with a look of surprise. Yet you couldn't help but smile a bit.
"You're so in love with him." Meng Yao speaks loud enough for anyone to hear as he passes by you, smirking at you before speeding up a bit as you kicked your leg at him. This action earned a disapproving look from Lan Qiren while Xichen just chuckled softly, which made your face heat up even more. Luckily, the rest of the walk was without you slamming into someone else again. However, you also noticed that Xichen lingered near you as you walked, almost like he was ready to catch you if you tripped again or something along those lines. Not that he made that clear, he just walked beside you at a decent distance, which only made Meng Yao raise his eyebrows at you suggestively once more. You ignored him without hesitation, instead focusing on the road and those interesting pebbles on the ground.
You didn't know how you ended up in this situation, sitting across Xichen while drinking tea and talking. But you also didn't really care about how you got here, you were too busy trying to keep your face neutral enough and not to just smile like an idiot. Xichen was explaining some stuff about the clan, the reasons for their colors and how their rules came into place, but you could only stare at him. More specifically at the cloud symbol on his forehead, which he hadn't noticed and if he had, he was kind enough to not point it out.
"Why do you wear that?" You blurted out in the middle of his sentence, realizing how rude this probably was and quickly apologizing after. Xichen paid no mind to this and kindly started to explain instead.
"It is a metaphor, it shows that we restrain ourselves." The explanation was simple, you were sure that he oversimplified the actual meaning, and Xichen was also quick to add that it wasn't something that just anyone could touch.
"Only close family members are allowed to touch the headbands. When we marry, our wife and future kids are also allowed." Xichen says and you felt a wave of disappointment wash over you, unsure of the reason for those feelings. The conversation moved on to other subjects, but somehow the thought of marrying Xichen had entered your mind and it wouldn't leave. You could only try to hide the slight blush on your face until you could excuse yourself to go to your class.
You never went to that class. and the thoughts of marrying Xichen turned into hopeful dreams that revealed your true feelings of the man.
The first letter you sent to Xichen was after your leave of the Gusu Lan clan. You added it to your letter to Huaisang, the paper folded neatly with Xichen's name on it. Xichen answered not much later, his response folded into the letter that Huaisang send you back. You didn't miss Huaisang's teasing in his own letter, you had no doubt that the boy had peaked into your letter. However, you first focused on Xichen's letter, because the man had called you his dear friend and you took a few minutes to just process that.
A dear friend was a start, maybe someday it say dear lover.
The second conversation was started by Xichen, asking you where you were traveling this time. You answered him, sticking in a small note of thanks to Huaisang that he helped you deliver the letters to Xichen. You received no you're welcome back, but you did get another letter. One that only made your heart ache as Xichen spoke of marriage, but he was to be clan leader after all and neither of you were still really young. But still with all that, you wished that he would chose you and not some clan's daughter that was chosen for him. Luckily, he didn't seem to mention his future marriage in any way, so you didn't see need to worry yet. Even though you were glad, you couldn't help yourself from asking if he had plans to marry. The letter was sent before you could actually control your actions, embarrassment entering much later and when it was too late to get the letter back.
You waited for two weeks for any kind of response from Xichen, but you got a very good response. You got Xichen in front of you, his angelic smile aimed to you and a letter in his hand. You took it with confusion, reading it's contents carefully.
Right at the bottom, written in the neatest letters stood a sentence that made your heart stop.
'I hope that we might marry someday.'
You were ready to faint at this point, not being able to control your magic as you made the letter go up in flames thanks to the sparks from your fingers. You only stared at the ashes before apologizing to Xichen, but he was just smiling at you like it was nothing. Then again, you had explained your powers to him or at least to some extent.
"I presume that to be a yes?" He asked and you nodded slowly, not really knowing what you were supposed to say to his proposal. You'd figure it out later, however, because you just wanted to hug him right now. So you did, embracing him and toying with the back of his belt as he threw his arms around your shoulders.
"How'd you know?" You dare to ask him, looking up to him with curious eyes as you awaited his answer.
"You often think out loud." Cue your face heating up as you hid your face in his chest, only making the man chuckle softly while parting your head.
You received one more letter later on from Huaisang, asking if the proposal went well. You burned that one as well.

obsessed with your tags, talk mdzs at me pls
Uh.
1) thank you, I really just put the random thoughts I have in the tags and/or accidentally steal other people’s tags
2) some thoughts about mdzs below the cut (I have a lot of thoughts about this novel) ye ask any ye shall receive. If you want to hear my thoughts on something specific plz ask :3
• My fav characters in MDZS are Wei Wuxian and Nie Huaisang. I love how WWX can be very complicated when he wants to be and has many layers and sides to him. Like, the fandom likes to simplify his character to someone self deprecating but always smiling but he is very complex. He acknowledges his faults and has only tried to do what he deemed right at the time even if he regrets what he does in hindsight. He isn’t infallible. He literally tortured a man to death (even if it felt right to do it considering said man orchestrated a massacre and tossed him into a literal pit of suffering to die in) and was a major player in a WAR. He’s probably killed more than he can count. I feel like a lot of people forget that the main cast is a bunch of war heroes that must’ve had insane kill counts. Including LWJ. It’s quite tragic that none of them really had any good authority figures to lead them seeing as the majority of them were at most 20~30ish and cultivators usually live extremely long lives (at least, that’s my assumption) anyhow, WWX is very aware of his faults, especially post-resurrection as he did kinda fuck up when he accidentally killed JZX. He acknowledges that and makes an effort to apologize and atone. That being said, his faults don’t stop him from being confident and above all likable. Yes he can be annoying but he does know how to behave himself probably better than most (unlike what many members of the fandom like to think). He knows his position well and that it is incredibly precarious (in both lives) but still manages to fit in well enough with essentially nobility that he is good competition for the best in his generation. He is a genius and a great leader and that isn’t stressed enough. Though I think one of the small details in his character that I think gets overlooked is how he “parents” A-Yuan in the burial mounds. Because for as immature as he is when he’s burying A-Yuan in the ground, he also knows that he isn’t the only one caring for A-Yuan and therefore is allowed to be silly but when they’re out at the market and A-Yuan asks for a toy he makes the mature decision to save his money (although LWJ spoils the kid immediately after). This reflects a lot on WWX because it shows he can be very mature when he needs to be but when he doesn’t need to be he’ll happily rely on others. It also reflects on his upbringing showing he knows how important money is (in contrast to the lans who are shown on various occasions to not really think about money much) Personally I love his character because he seems like a person I’d get along with if he were real (which, the incredible writing makes his seems very realistic) meanwhile my other favorite, Nie Huaisang, I love because he is misleading. Some of my favorite fictional characters are very misleading because of the masks they put up to fool people to achieve their goals. How a character will know more than they should but not let anyone know until the moment is right. NHS is someone who is easily underestimated because he seems helpless and unintelligent. And yeah, for a majority of his life he really didn’t care to further his education or really practice cultivation but later he takes this preconceived notion that everyone has of him and uses it to his advantage so nobody suspects a thing while he plans JGY’s downfall. It’s a scarily intelligent move and I think the fact that he takes pleasure in looking at art/books really adds to the fact of how intelligent he is. Most people see his art as pointless hobbies but I think it says a lot about the qualities of his character. I think a lot of people take for granted the patience it takes to make good art or the intelligence it takes to appreciate good literature. So when NHS's older brother dies under mysterious circumstances that just so happen to help the Jins? of course he catches on! He proceeds to keep his enemy close for over a decade until he finally gets his moment of revenge. Which, to me? Props, man. plus only one person even realizes what happened. WWX.
Some things I don’t particularly like about MDZS (some people may yell at me for this and I'm sorry but this is my opinion):
- how weird the yi city arc felt? It feels very out of place as we go on this whole journey to learn about all these people and what happened to them but after that they are pretty much no longer relevant. I only found out later that the yi city arc was initially intended to be its own story. So that might be why.
- how certain things are just *left* and never touched on again? We hear all this stuff about baoshan sanren but we never see her or really learn much about her at all. Similarly, Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji’s parents? We hear all these things about them but never learn much at all. Which is weird all things considered when you look at it. It feels like a lot of background info for not much payoff. Yes, it gives us a lot of vital information on why things played out the way they did but it doesn’t stop the feeling that there should’ve been more. Part of me appreciated it though because it gives us no more information than the characters really have. Just passing information that is common knowledge but never really looked into just like many actual people have.
- how everything ended off. So we have that whole scene at the temple and then everything just… calms down? They all go home??? It felt anticlimactic. Especially with Nie Huaisang’s character as (in the novel at least) it sets him up to be the next chief cultivator despite being just as, if not more, sneaky than Jin Guangyao. And that’s probably intentional. The chief cultivator position was likely never meant to be a position of absolute good. It’s politics. But it is a bit weird that we never really see what happens to Nie Huaisang after, post revenge and all.
#weirdocat83 ramblings#mdzs#mo dao zu shi#wei wuxian#nie huaisang#i have so many thoughts#it isn't even funny#I am critiquing this novel#and that is because I love it#plz don't yell at me for my opinions

Funky xiyao prompt: Modern reincarnation au— the Lans remember but no one else does. JGY is stressed and upset because LXC's family hates him with no apparent reason.
Thank you, this is such a juicy prompt!! I got inspired for some reincarnation shenanigans today, I hope you enjoy.
(no CWs except perceived classism)
xiyao - modern reincarnation AU
When Lan Huan invites him to their “grand occasions” date spot, Meng Yao knows what to expect. This was their first date restaurant, a place expensive enough that Meng Yao had been on pins and needles the whole time - yet casual enough that Lan Huan had worn just jeans, a T-shirt and a fancy leather wrap bracelet, distracting enough in itself to get Meng Yao through dinner without panicking.
It has been seven months since then and they’ve been going steady, but Meng Yao knew it in his bones that it couldn’t last. Experience tells him all good things come to an end, and this has been the best thing to happen to him yet, so it stands to reason that Lan Huan took him here for one last bout of nostalgia. One last expensive dinner bestowed on the food stamps kid, before he likely tells him they simply aren’t going to work out. The thought infuriates him, even though he knows Lan Huan likely sees it as a kindness. No text breakups for Lan Huan, he is too pleasant and tactful for that level of disrespect.
Meng Yao isn’t being paranoid. He has irrefutable evidence that the Lan family, as a whole, detests him. He has met Lan Huan’s uncle and guardian exactly once, and the man obstinately refused to even look at him. Lan Huan’s brother is worse, somehow, because he stares at him intensely every time they cross paths and couldn’t even muster paltry pleasantries when Lan Huan introduced them.
It is hard not to draw a logical connection between their different lots in life and the Lan family's stubborn cold shoulder towards Meng Yao. It is entirely unsurprising that old money elite like the Lans would turn up their nose when Meng Yao started skulking around their heir - who wouldn’t be suspicious? Except it had been Lan Huan who sought him out, Lan Huan who asked him out, Lan Huan who seemed trepidant that he would be turned down, absurdly.
So even though his family obviously disapproves, Meng Yao had to conclude that Lan Huan himself genuinely liked him. He doesn’t think himself particularly lovable, but he can tell Huan-ge is not the type to fuck someone he does not genuinely care for. Small mercies.
It had been nice while it lasted, but the signs are now clear - halfway through the date Lan Huan started minutely fidgeting with his watch, looking down at his lap rather than holding prolonged eye contact as he usually does. Meng Yao eats his fancy dinner in bitter silence.
“A-Yao…” Lan Huan finally says over the organic tiramisu they’ve been picking at. “You have probably already guessed I have something to say.”
Meng Yao takes a deep breath and holds it in his lungs, a buoy to keep himself afloat. “Go on, Huan-ge.”
Lan Huan shakes his head for a moment, then takes out a little box and slides it gently across the table. Meng Yao stares at it blankly.
“I had a speech,” Lan Huan begins, “but I don’t really think it was good enough for this. So I will just come out and say it. A-Yao, would you… consider marrying me?”
Meng Yao can count on one hand the times in his life he’d been utterly poleaxed, and this one firmly tops them.
“You… want to get married?” he blurts out, forgetting all about composure. “There is absolutely no way your uncle will approve.”
Lan Huan’s brow crumples elegantly and he looks down, his fingers tracing the little velvet box almost stubbornly. “It’s 2023, A-Yao. I do not need anyone’s permission to get married.”
“But… but your family hates me,” Meng Yao stammers, brain trying to recalibrate itself too quickly. He’d been steeling himself to smile in the face of a breakup, and the face-turn is making his head spin.
“Why would you think so?” Lan Huan asks, in his gentle but diplomatic voice that means Meng Yao is right on the money.
“Huan-ge,” Meng Yao huffs. “Your uncle pretends I do not exist and your brother looks cross every time he is reminded that I do. I am pretty sure he had someone run a background check. It is very obvious that they have something against me.”
Lan Huan’s handsome face twists into a rare expression of discomfort. It would be fascinating, if it weren’t for the fact that Meng Yao hates to make Huan-ge unhappy for any reason.
“Is there… something you think they should hold against you?” Lan Huan finally asks, delicately but intently. He lets the question hang for much longer than it would normally be polite, looking half hopeful and half terrified.
Meng Yao can't help a frown. Other than being born poor, what crime has he ever committed? In another situation he’d pout to get Huan-ge to fuss over him, but this time his confusion is entirely genuine. ”Well. I didn’t go to Harvard, for one,” he tries to joke. “I assume your uncle wanted you to date among peers.”
“A-Yao’s academic and professional results speak for themselves. But,” Lan Huan sighs thoughtfully, “I am aware that people will often look at labels and no further. I promise you, Uncle is not such a person. He will come around once he realizes how much you have achieved on your strength alone. Don’t let anyone’s expectations get in the way of your ambition.”
Sometimes Lan Huan seems wise beyond his years - Meng Yao initially wrote it off as a by-product of his being obscenely educated, but on occasion his observations hit too close to home in a very personal way. It is almost unnerving.
“If you know my ambitions, you know that I do not want to marry rich,” Meng Yao murmurs, reaching out for the velvet case. He does not dare open it.
“I know,” Lan Huan promptly replies. “My proposal is entirely selfish. I would be the one with the most to gain if you said yes.”
Meng Yao chuckles sadly. “You are such a charmer, Huan-ge. There is no need to flirt at this point.”
“It’s no flirting, A-Yao,” Lan Huan says, staring at him with that deep-water gaze that occasionally seems to see beyond Meng Yao. “I am certain that I do not wish to live a life without you. If… If you also want me.”
Meng Yao has goosebumps, and he is not certain if it is because of Lan Huan’s unusual intensity or the enormity of the commitment he is considering. But that glimmer of uncertainty on his boyfriend’s gentle features is unacceptable, so he has to reach across the table to peck a kiss on his lips.
When he sits back down he opens the little box, almost fearful of finding a diamond too big to wear in public. He needn't have worried - Lan Huan, while a romantic, is never a show off. His sentiment is shown through care rather than big displays. The engagement ring sitting in the little velvet case is a gold band with a bluish-green inlay, rather masculine and simple in design.
“Jade?”
“Jade,” Lan Huan smiles, though Meng Yao has never seen him so nervous. “Do you like it?”
The ring fits perfectly, of course. Magically so. “Yes.”
He’d say he must have done something right in his past life to get a man like this if he believed in that stuff. But the point remains that Lan Huan is offering his heart in a little velvet case, and he simply cannot imagine not taking it. The thought of anyone else ever making Lan Huan squirm like this, care like this, plead like this, fills Meng Yao with turbid jealousy, immediately replaced with the taste of triumph. His answer was a rather foregone conclusion, he supposes.
“Alright.”
“Is that a…”
“Yes.”
His fiance rises to hug him tight, making him sputter through laughter as a glass is upturned in the process. He hugs back, and squeezes his eyes shut. His vision is swimming, for some reason.
When he finally releases him, Lan Huan’s eyes are red but he is grinning widely, nearly looking half his age from sheer joy. “Go on,” he says, “call your mother. I’ll go get the check so you can tell her about how I almost utterly fumbled this.”
Meng Yao pretends to be scandalized for a moment, then waves him off with a laugh and takes a picture of his ring finger to text to his mama.
After dinner they have excellent celebratory sex at Meng Yao’s apartment - it gets so enthusiastic that Lan Huan even forgets that weird foreplay of his, the “kissing-Meng-Yao’s-heart-until-it tickles” thing. Meng Yao enjoys his oddities, truth be told, but today he’s too well fucked to notice that Lan Huan forgot about his routine until the third round. Perhaps engagement sex just hits differently.
“Need to buy a desk and an easel,” Lan Huan murmurs against his nape in the sleepy, sweaty afterglow.
“What?” Meng Yao garbles back, ready to drop off at a moment’s notice.
“For me. Moving in. I assume A-Yao doesn’t want to move into the Lan’s family home with uncle.”
Meng Yao giggles hysterically, then reaches back to stroke Lan Huan’s hair approvingly. “Tomorrow, then.”
Irrational, caliginous thoughts crowd his half-asleep self, even as he drifts off into warmth. Sometimes he wonders if Lan Huan knows him better than he knows himself. Foresight is the only explanation for these occasional strokes of genius that manage to put even him on the backfoot.
But that can’t be right… if he did, he’d know better.
He tries to reason with his unconscious, but the darkest part of his dormant mind worries that Lan Huan wouldn’t have approached him all those months ago if he truly, truly knew him.
If he truly knew all about him, Er-ge would know to stay away.
It’s a good thing Huan-ge doesn't know, then.

Nobody asked for it but here are some Rapunzel/Imprisonment AU rambles
Backstory: Instead of Dying™️, WWX gets imprisoned underground by JGY for the low low price of torture and No Legs bc a prisoner that in every sense of the word can’t run away is easier to handle, right?
Anyway, he gets threatened into compliance and is mostly solitary until JGY brings him a new guest.
“Not a prisoner,” he says with the same smile. “Just something to look after.” And dumps tiny toddler Jin Rusong on WWX.
He doesn’t want to kill his son, however misfortuned he is, and WWX’s reactions have been lacking lately. Giving him something new to care for is just the preferable method.
Jin Rusong becomes Wei Wuxian’s Lan Bao, a little treasure handed to him in a basket. It’s a different Lan, he’s not projecting, no. In any case, Lan Bao grows up in a small room with steady candlelight, but no daylight. His father draws on their walls and ceilings, everything he reads from books so that a-Bao has a vague idea of the outside world. He was too young when brought to the dungeon to recall much.
JGY visits… less. Xue Yang more. There’s a trade off there, somewhere.
Well, time passes and enter stage left: WWX’s longest fucking con. A minimal but perfected disguise talisman, something to fool the guards, and his kid is free to go. WWX isn’t but, he can’t walk and a ten year old can’t carry him, but that’s alright. He’s been dead to the world for a while.
Lan Bao escapes in a truly particular show of a child who already had some health issues and been raised under terrible conditions, is now out in the world again, and, against the original plan of living well somewhere far away, he hides in the departing Lan contingent.
Enter stage left: Lan Sizhui opening their luggage to find a ten-year-old squinting at him. Said ten year old won’t say where he’s from or how he got there or what is wrong with him (WWX did his best, but really, you can’t raise a kid like that).
Enter stage even further left: LWJ and his empty nest syndrome Need To Do Right By WWX’s Memory. The kid needs help and support and he can do that.
Now count down time until WWX finds his prison cell kicked in by his savior
LWJ will forever see it as fate that he got to raise both of WWX’s children, WWX is mostly bewildered neither child knew the meaning of stranger danger. Sizhui was a toddler and knew LWJ but Lan Bai really should’ve known better. They had a plan.

Rereading MDZS again and it strikes me just how JGY argues that the friendship and assistance he offered to LXC is a debt that LXC owes to him. Does LXC even 'owe' JGY anything even if you look at their relationship from a purely transactional lens? We see no evidence that LXC has failed to support JGY. LXC helps him to expand the hunting grounds at Mt. Baifeng, drinks the tea that Meng Yao prepares to shame the other cultivators for their behaviour, speaks up for him when Jin Zixun throws his wine cup and reiterates, over and over again, that he believes in JGY's innocence in the face of WWX and LWJ's accusations. There is also no evidence that LXC has done anything to oppose Lanling Jin, before and after JGY became the leader of the Sect.
More importantly, LXC also saved JGY's life in return. JGY was counting on LXC's appearance after the assassination of WRH to prevent NMJ from cutting his head off.
In a flash, a figure in a radiantly white robe darted out of the forest. It was like Meng Yao had laid eyes on a god. He immediately scrambled over behind him. “Zewu-jun!! Zewu-jun!!” Nie Mingjue was so overwhelmed with rage that he didn’t even ask why Lan Xichen was suddenly here. He bellowed, “Xichen, get out of the way!” Baxia bore down on them so menacingly that Shuoyue had no choice but to leave its sheath. Lan Xichen moved to meet him, partly to support him and partly to stop him. ... “There’s no need to doubt it,” Lan Xichen said. “The very reason I am here at this moment to assist is because he sent me a message asking me to come. By what other coincidence would I be here?”
-- MDZS Vol. 2, Nie Mingjue's Empathy Flashback
JGY saved LXC's life and allowed him to return to the Cloud Recesses and lead his clan into war against the Wen Clan. LXC defended JGY against NMJ and presented the evidence that allowed JGY to be rehabilitated into society and claim his place as a hero of the Sunshot campaign.
Genuinely tragic for LXC that what he thought was a friendship of mutual support and affection was actually a debt to be used for leverage against him.
He inhaled deeply, then rasped out, “But never have I ever wanted to hurt you!”
-- MDZS Vol. 5, Jin Guangyao at Guanyin Temple
Also kind of interesting that JGY seems to think that the lack of desire to inflict harm is what will exonerate him, especially when the fundamental cause of misery in his life stems from a callous disregard of his needs and desires rather than any deliberate malice.

I think the thing is, how do you convince Mo Xuanyu to bring back Nie Mingjue? NMJ is highly unlikely to kill the Mo especially when MXY doesn't even coherently explain WHY he wants them dead and idk that nmj would agree, so nmj would just resign himself to dying again. Also even if famously rigid nmj WAS willing to kill the Mo he now has to use MXY's twiggy little arms and no golden core for this. He doesn't do torture either so he's not going to put the Mo in a saw trap for extra tasty vengeance(neither is wwx but mxy doesn't know that). Mo Xuanyu might as well take revenge himself at that point
I think it all depends on how NHS spins it, because I’d argue that “MXY can just take revenge for himself” applies to WWX as well. The fact that MXY summoned a supervillain necromancer with a kill count in the thousands to kill a handful of normal-ass people who weren’t even cultivators is already bonkers. If MXY has the demonic cultivation know-how to complete that ritual, it should be more than doable for him to deploy some talisman or other to kill them that would make it look like an accident. Or he could just, like, murder them in a normal civilian way. MXY’s spindly little goth body is fully capable of this task, but unfortunately MXY is not operating rationally at all. If NHS drums up tales of Chifeng-zun, Righteous Slayer of Evildoers Whose Blade Thirsts for the Blood of the Wicked, I could see MXY latching onto him as the champion who will avenge him. And in novel canon, where JGY isn’t one of the people MXY wants killed, he might even figure that being JGY’s half-brother entitles him to 3zun benefits as NHS uses his half-brotherhood with NMJ to justify leaning on JGY and LXC.
Now, would MXY be able to explain himself in such a way that NMJ would take up his cause, rather than be so horrified by the situation that he stabs himself before the curse can even take effect? Unclear! If he saw decisive evidence of MXY being abused, maybe. IIRC when he sees MY kill the captain in the novel, he doesn’t tell MY that killing the captain was unjust no matter what; he tells him that if MY’s allegations against the captain are true and can be proven, then he shouldn’t be afraid to account for his actions, and I think that’s important here.
If this is CQL canon, though, MXY and NMJ have the shared goal of obliterating JGY. NMJ is way more relevant to MXY’s interests than WWX is here, because CQL WWX is way less accomplished on the demonic cultivation front than his novel counterpart and barely knows who JGY is. NMJ also wants revenge against him! It’s even possible that MXY saw the severed head with all those talismans around it during his time at Jinlintai and thought “Oh shit! That guy was so strong even just his head merits all these precautions!” and didn’t even need added info from NHS to contextualize why NMJ might be sympathetic to his cause. Again, there’s the problem of the Mo family, but there’s nothing in the curse that says he has to personally kill them. NHS would be happy to take care of that one on his behalf.
(How would he come back with his own body when he very much does have a corpse? A valid question! If CQL doesn’t have to explain it for WWX and his convenient vanished body then I don’t have to either.)

Please share your ideas 🙏🙏🙏 my posts are meant in the most disrespectful manner possible 💪 feel free to add onto them
In that case...
LXC who 'forgot to mention' that his precious uwu baby brother he's always singing the praises of is, well, Like That. ("Oh, by the way, my brother can be kind of intense!" JGY: "Intense?" LXC: "...I'm sure it'll be fine! He'll love you!")
LWJ who just heard "He helped me when I was on the run. He's trying to get acknowledged from his father JGS. I want to help him." And knows Oh Shit He's Serious about this guy (or else why would he tell him anything at all?) But also looking at the situation does not trust MY at all. Thinks MY definitely somehow manipulated his brother, maybe playing the long game, maybe just to get an in with the heir/leader of a powerful sect and oh look it's paid off hasn't it?
MY who is still young and not quite naive. Definitely not unwise to the ways of the world. But hopeful. Wants LXC's family to like him, accept him at least, for the baby's sake if not his own because oh boy! He knows what it's like to be the unwanted child of a Sect Leader! Of course LXC will treat their child well, but will the rest of his family? Will the rest of his sect?
...And Also LXC who knows nothing of what happened with LWJ after he got back to CR while LXC was on the run other than he's married to Su She now (didn't he like Wei Wuxian?) and somehow Su She has some influence now over LWJ and the Sect. LXC assumes LWJ married SMS in some desperate ploy to keep him from being thrown out of the Sect but doesn't know why LWJ cared so much to do that to himself. He's absolutely devastated by this. Probably talks shit about SMS to MY before they've met, like "Su She was just an outer disciple and he wasn't even that good and he must have manipulated my brother into marriage somehow or he would have never settled for him!" And MY has no idea what to do with this because, like, 100% that's how people are going to be thinking about him.
But also! Prior to actually meeting MY, SMS is right there with LWJ on the suspicion train, because like. He heard 'Jin' and went with a hard no on that one. ("A Jin? Like... Like Jin Zixun? No way. 0%. Lan Sect can't be run by a Jin.") This lasts like ten minutes tops once he meets Meng Yao because of course he is *instantly* charmed. SMS agrees to work on getting LWJ to approve because oops! He and Meng Yao are kind of in the same boat here in terms of being disapproved of, and also MY is small and cute and vulnerable and needs to be protected at all costs??? And he is literally pregnant with the Sect Leader's baby??? Come on Lan Zhan! This is your new brother in law and he might technically be a Jin but he doesn't really have a family and WE are his family now!
And LWJ who has spent months learning to listen to SMS takes a few days of giving MY a hard time before agreeing that yeah. fair. He's family. And he shows this in like the most understated way possible that has MY feeling an overwhelming sense of relief without really knowing why, because like. LWJ just nodded and said "Mn." Is that really so big? But then LXC is moved to tears by that because he thought it would take so much longer and like wait is SMS a good influence on Wangji? That doesn't seem right?
(LWJ and SMS decide they are going to plan the wedding for LXC and MY and that lasts like almost an entire day before A-Yao is just like. "Yeah... I'm going to do it myself I think. Thanks for trying it's the thought that counts etc etc." And they're like. "But you are pregnant?" And MY is just. "Yeah... Still gonna do it myself." And then it comes out that LWJ and SMS's wedding was like. The most haphazard thing. No setting a date. No planning. Just happened. LXC is... Well he kind of figured that's what happened.)
#not me going on forever 😭#but I must have got a little invested#just pretend the war stopped for a bit for some low stakes domestic drama

Hi, I've seen some people suggest that JGY killed Jin furen ( even though the novel doesn't say anything that supports it). I know she abused him and it wouldn't be totally out of character, but it always seemed like dumping yet another crime on him because "he's evil". I wonder if this accisation has any ground to stand on
Mmmm. Not really, no.
This is what we have about Madam Jin's death:
After Madam Jin lost her only son and her daughter-in-law, she’d been quite depressed for a few years in the first place. Thinking that her husband had to fool around even when he was dying and finally fooled his life away, she was so angered that she fell ill as well, eventually passing away.
(ER, ch 85)
Given this, is it possible he killed Madam Jin? Certainly. And I will say in defense of the idea that it's a lot less out of character then the vast majority of things he's accused of. You're right that she abused him, including physically, and contributed to the general shittiness of that part of his life at Jinlintai; I think she's probably on the second-lowest level of the harm pyramid, though nearer to the top, and if he did some reason he really had to kill her I think he'd find some satisfaction in it.
But I do think he'd need a reason. I do understand where you're coming from in saying it wouldn't be totally out of character, but he really almost never kills just for revenge! There's usually a very pragmatic reason for it, and he's usually under serious constraint.
Of course the usually in that sentence is doing some work, because there's the obvious exception of JGS. But JGS' case was really exceptional. I mean, first of all, it's worth remembering that JGS' death is singular among the deaths we know JGY is responsible for. Just want to highlight the text there because I do feel like that fact is pretty important. Second, there are reasons he'd react to JGS differently from anyone else: JGS is by far the most responsible for JGY's misery and his mother's death and doesn't give a single flying fig about him despite being his father—a relationship too which is singular and important. Oh and we can't forget his responsibility for the fact that JGY married his own damn sister! And these reasons don't extend to Madam Jin. And then—and this part is the most immediately compelling to me—if you look at the way JGY actually reacts while talking about him, in the temple, vs the way he reacts when talking about basically anything else—it's so singular and so focused purely on JGS! There's even that line:
He finally revealed the hatred hidden deep within him. It wasn’t directed at neither Jin ZiXuan nor Wei WuXian, but rather his own father.
(ER, ch 106)
I think it would significantly weaken things if this reaction was stretched to include Madam Jin, and I honestly just really can't imagine it.
So basically—there's not really anything for it in the text. I think you're right that it's mostly a matter of the unfortunately frequent logic of JGY does bad things, this would be a bad thing to do, therefore JGY did it. With some extra irony added on top, that if it was a character they liked who killed someone who'd treated them the way Madam Jin treated JGY, they'd count it as a good thing without blinking an eye.
#there's something almost funny#about the way fandom uses the exact same shape of logic used to condemn WWX in-universe against JGY#I recommend entertaining yourself by imagining people's reactions to WWX if he has the position in the narrative JGY does

1. Hi, I’m looking for a fic in which lan zhan and wei ying are in a relationship. They argue a lot but every argument ends with wei ying jumping in bed with lan zhan and hugging him from behind to resolve it until one day they have a really serious argument and Wei ying doesn’t come to resolve it first. They might have broken up as well, and lan zhan realized wei ying constantly made effort to resolve the arguments first and lan zhan never did.

2. Hello hello!! I have two requests this time
A) In this fic Wei Ying is the God of the Underworld. Infact everybody is a God here. And Wei Ying has a town or city built in his domain for the souls of the dead and I think the Wens lived there. Also the other Gods considered him a pariah. I remember this one scene where he comes up or goes down the stairs from heaven which leads to the Underworld after a conference with the Gods.
B) I remember only one scene from this fic. It was during the Wen Indoctrination where after Wei Ying was sent to the cell with the Dog he acts dead and Lan Wangji and Jiang Wanyin are heartbroken. But actually Wen Qing just helped Wei Ying's heart rate to slow down to convince Wen Chao of his death. I think Wei Ying wakes up right there after a few minutes or so. @yilinglaobunny

4. Hello, I’m looking for a specific fic that takes place post canon. Basically it’s a short fic where Lan Zhan goes out to travel for something and while he’s gone someone upsets Wei Ying, so to get back at him Wei Ying pretends to have sex super loudly every night. Lan Zhan hears about it and rushes back and hides in the room to find out what’s going on. I think they slept together after but I don’t remember well. I read it a few years ago and all can’t find it since.

5. Hi! There was this Wangxian fic where Lan Zhan got cursed and pushed Wei Ying away because he didn't recognize him and Wei Ying got badly hurt. Wen Qing was alive she made some sort of a healing bubble around Wei Ying for him to heal. I clearly remember she identified Wei Ying as her brother and asked Lan Qiren and Lan Xichen to keep Lan Zhan away from him. Lan Zhan was distraught after the curse wore off. Along with Sizhui and the others. Thank you!

6. Hi, I remember there being a fic but can't seem to find it : where the juniors end up in the past or a different universe where they see JGY and other cultivators in a meeting and one of JL or LY throw a weapon most probably a dagger killing JGY which makes LXC unhappy, hostile and maybe a little shocked but when he makes a move towards the juniors WangXian appear and WY tells/warns him from doing so. I remember I read it on ao3 but don't recall the chapter count apologises for the vague details but this is all that I remember so something with a similar premise or any help would be appreciated.

9. Hiya,
Looking for a modern fic where LWJ is constantly being mean to WWX, whose constantly trying to befriend him. Eventually wwx has a whole breakdown about it, and he mentions how LWJ is an asshole to him for no reason. There’s a scene mentioning wwx baking cookies for him and he thought Lwj threw it out but in reality it is revealed in the end by Lwj himself that he ate it (although he was allergic to it) and WWX says something along the lines of that’s why you missed class that Monday. Turns out LWJ just struggles with communication. I think they are neighbors or roommates I can’t remember. Hopefully someone can help.
Thank you!!

10. I am looking for a canon era (not modern) fic where Lan Wangji was kidnapped as a child and I think he was raised in a brothel. He grows up and curses himself to be hideous so that the men who frequent the brothel don’t try to touch him. Eventually true love breaks the curse (like, WWX loves him regardless of his appearance) and I think Wangji happily reconciles with Xichen.

11. It's been some time since the last FF I've asked but here we go again :'D I'd like to find a fic that had WangXian traveling together and LWJ's back/scars were bothering him and it worsened because of cold weather? Most likely the fic was post canon. There might have been a bath house or a hot spring involved there somewhere
Yes, LWJ knew he was traveling with WWX. No, he didn't get more scars.
did lan zhan not know it was wei ying travelling with him, and did he get more scars as time went on?
~*~
12. Hi, I would love some help locating a fic. I can't really remember a lot of the main plot since it has been a while since I read it. I believe it is a post-canon fic, but Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian had to go back to the Burial Mounds, and Wei Wuxian had to unbury his original body that was buried in the blood pool. I think. I also think that for Wei Wuxian's original body to survive, he had to wear a bracelet of some sort. I don't remember, or maybe I am confused by two different fics.
~*~
13. For the fic finder!! TIA!!
This may be a scene from a long fic but I’m not sure. Wwx is possessed by something more than resentful energy- it’s an ancient demon who wants to destroy the world. Wwx seals himself inside the cold pond cave and puts up a barrier- I guess prepared to stay there forever? Lwj somehow gets in there to stay with him, and has conversations with the demon. The demon is extremely strong, throws him around and hurts him a little. His brother and uncle are pacing outside the barrier demanding he come out. The elders want to execute wwx which is why lwj is in the cave in the first place.
It’s canon setting but I can’t remember the time line- war? No war? Wwx and lwj aren’t together yet though. I remember this fic being pretty good- I’d love to reread it!
FOUND!🔒 Breathing Firestorm by ladyshadowdrake (M, 110k, wangxian, angst, fluff, captivity, creepy WRH, no non-con, dreamsharing, politics, people making the best decisions they can, epic length, mythical creature WWX, canon-typical violence, dark, happy ending)

14. hello!! thank you for all the work you do. i've been trying to find a fic in my bookmarks/ searching for it but i just can't seem to find it unfortunately. i remember it to be an arranged marriage au? where lwj and wwx loved each other very much but upon learning that wei wuxian's tail colour (or species) meant he would not settle, miscommunication happens and just angst. it is a happy ending though, because i think that another person tells lwj that wei changze's tail colour/species meant that wwx would be loyal to him? sorry if this is too broad, thank you!
FOUND? what you have tamed by lianhua_lianzi, Senforza (E, 94k, WangXian, Animal Traits, misunderstandings (not the romcom kind that can be resolved in a 5min convo), Courting Rituals, Pining, Lan family dynamics, Drama, Fluff, Hurt/Comfort, Arranged Marriage, Wangxian break up but get back together, Eventual Happy Ending, vague biological essentialism (animal species have different mating preferences), Canon Typical Alcohol Usage, Implied Mpreg, Unresolved Sexual Tension, unintentional and eventually resolved "gaslighting", Dragon LWJ, Fox WWWX)

15. Hello! I am searching for a fic I read that I think was multiple short installments in a series on ao3. It was a war au where Wangji had presented as some kind of dragon and he was in charge of the Lan clan. Wuxian was a thief or mercenary. They had met as children and Wangji imprinted on Wuxian, but they parted ways then. They meet again on the battlefield and Wangji pulls Wuxian into his tent and is like “bathe him!” I think Wangji put a silver collar on Wuxian that Wuxian couldn’t remove on his own. There were dom/sub undertones. Any clue?
FOUND!🔒 Have him stripped, bathed, and brought to my tent by KizuKatana (E, 30k, WangXian, Dark LWJ, A/B/O, Huli-Jing WWX, powerplay/powerdynamic, dubcon (due to power dynamics), Overstimulation, Edging, Biting, Scenting, Possessiveness, LWJ Has a Big Dick, Alpha LWJ, Omega WWX, warlord, Emperor LWJ, civilian (sort of) captive (also sort of) WWX, dragon sex magic, Not traditional Chinese emperor history fully alternate reality of immortal creatures)

17. Hi, I need some help looking for a fic on ao3 I was SO SURE I had bookmarked, but apparently not. The fic is Jingyi-centric and features a drunk jingyi trying to hit on Jin Ling's uncles at a bar, I'm fairly certain Jingyi is college age and the fic mentions sizhui and wangxian near the end. It was marked as complete, and I think it was a one-shot. Sorry if it's a bit vague, but it's been a while and I'm starting to think I just made it up if it hasn't been deleted. Thank you in advance! @angrymarconi

18. Hey! There’s this thread fic I read a while ago, I believe it’s a “Bikini Armor” au? It’s where Knight!Lwj is meets another fellow knight (Wwx) on the road, but Wwx’s armor is magical? Basically it only visibly covers his privates and part of his chest, the rest is magic. I remember it was a punishment by Madam Yu, and that Lwj finds out when the armor breaks.

I’m looking for a fix where Wei Ying is gorgeous and coveted by everyone. The junior quartet often have to run interference because he doesn’t realize it. Eventually, Lan Zhan comes and rescues him. Please help me find this fic! Thank you very much!

20. So I've lost a fic again, and I need your help once more!
So the premise of the fic was that lwj did enact that fantasy of taking wwx in the library when they were young, only after lwj internally freaks out and runs off to his brother for punishment because "xiongzhang I took someone by force 😢 I'm horrible"
I don't remember how exactly they got there but lxc gets lwj and wwx to talk, intending for wwx to decide how lwj should be punished as the wronged party. Except wwx somehow comes to the conclusion of "Let me f*ck (fuck) Lan zhan! 😠 he took me, so now I should take him!"
Things end happily but that's all I remember. Please help me! (And before anyone asks, no I'm not mixing it up with the Teapot Plot)

It's a topic I've mentioned a few times before, but I want to do a proper explanation of why I think Nie Mingjue would not approve of the things Nie Huaisang did in pursuit of revenge.
First, let's lay out what I think NMJ values very highly
Honesty. He believes that you should be forthright about your goals, never hiding behind deceit.
Selflessness/self sacrifice. If you're going to endanger someone to achieve your ends, it had better be yourself. To offload all the danger onto someone else is selfish cowardice of the highest order.
Duty. Pretty self explanatory
Justice. His ideas of who counts as guilty can be pretty broad, but at the end of the day, he wants to punish wrongdoers and protect the innocent.
Now, what did Huaisang's vengeance look like?
It was deceitful and secretive. He relied on lies to carry it out, and even after all was done, he wouldn't admit his hand in it. In the end, he even tricked LXC into killing his sworn brother.
He was careful to keep himself out of the line of fire. Instead, he lead others into danger to get everyone where he wanted them, luring the juniors into Yi city, deliberately provoking JGY into trying to get rid of as many threats as possible, and putting the responsibility of the dangerous investigation in the hands of LWJ and WWX. All while he stayed on his throne, directing from the background.
He neglected his responsibilities as sect leader to pursue revenge, maybe even deliberately letting the sect fall into disarray to minimize suspicion.
While he did have one specific target who had done wrong, his plan relied on the suffering, endangerment, and even death of people who had absolutely nothing to do with the wrongdoing. MXY commiting suicide. The arm being released on the Mo family. Luring the juniors to Yi city. Revealing the truth about Qin Su's relationship with JGY in the worst possible way to both her and the entire jianghu.
Nie Mingjue would be disgusted. But would Nie Huaisang even care?

Needed help
Requested by anonymous: Hi how are you?! I admire your work and thank you for caring about your fans! Can I leave a request for JGY here? The reader (female, but can also be GN, I'll leave it up to you and your mood) suffers from Hematemesis (which is vomiting blood). Once, she and her leader go over to visit Lanling Jin for a meeting. Everything is going well, but the reader suddenly apologizes that she has to go outside. She then vomits blood outside and passes out due to bad breathing. The reader's leader is worried about where the reader has been for so long. JGS prompts JGY to look after the reader. After a while, he manages to find the reader and thinks that she was murdered when there was blood everywhere, but when he doesn't find any wound, he realizes what happened. So he decides to take care of the reader, as it starts to rain…
Pairing: Jin Guangyao x gn!reader
Word Count: 1.3k words
Jin Guangshan was an enigma, that much was certain. The meeting was boring enough as it was, but him trying to entertain others made it ten times worse. The drinks in front of you were untouched, much like the ones in front of Lan Xichen and Lan Zhan, and Guangshan had brought up toasting every few seconds. Yet you never raised your glass, your clan was against drinking alcohol no matter what and you were going to follow those rules no matter what.
It was halfway through the meeting that you felt an uncomfortable feeling in your stomach. It almost felt like your stomach was getting bloated, pushing against your ribs while your heart started to race ten times as fast. The feeling remained there for an hour, then it started creeping upwards to your throat. You coughed, covering your mouth with your sleeve. The red dots on the fabric made you instantly straighten up before turning your head.
"Zhongzhu, excuse me." You spoke to your sect leader before getting up after a short nod of acknowledgement, making your way out of the hall while still covering your mouth. Once out of reach, the coughing got worse as you reached the bottom of the stairs. You crouched down, holding your stomach with one hand while your other hand was still in front of your face as you tried to stop the stream of blood that was pouring from your mouth. Your robes were fully covered in blood at this point and your head was pounding immensely to the point that you felt like dying. Then again, guessing by the amount of blood pouring from your body, you might actually die today.
With another loud cough, you continued your way to hopefully reach your room and get your medication to press down your symptoms. You'd take time to heal later on, after the meeting of course. One problem, you never reached your room.
Not even close.
Guangyao made his way out of the room with a bow and a slight annoyance. The meeting was not finished, yet he was practically forced to leave. Now, he had nothing against you at all, but he was not keen on leaving the meeting while it still continued. He, like your clan leader, had noticed your long absence after your leave and he couldn't help but wonder why you were gone in the first place.
Thus he made his way through the halls, not really knowing where he was going. You could be anywhere and the Lanling building wasn't exactly small, so where on earth could you be. He just assumed that you were near your rooms, so he headed out there and hoped to find you somewhere in that area.
Well, after half an hour he did and it was quite a shock. You were laid on the ground, on your side, and blood surrounding you. If he didn't know any better, it would be a murder scene. Luckily, it wasn't one as he did not find any wounds to indicate so and poison would not work this quickly without any sign of suffocation or marks of poison. He crouched down, making sure that his robes didn't land in the blood as he checked your vitals.
Weak, but there nonetheless.
With a slight grimace, he lifted you up in his arms and sighed at the blood that now stained his sleeves. He opted to go to your room, he'd call a doctor in a second since he was not fit enough to carry you to the other side of the building. So with you on your bed, he started to search for any kind of wounds once more. Founding nothing once again, he wanted to call for a doctor but was stopped when he heard a cough. Your eyes were slowly opening before closing again as your hand raised to your throat, coughing softly again before going into a coughing fit. Guangyao as quickly by your side, helping you sit up before freezing as he noticed blood pouring from your mouth again.
"Did you get poisoned or something?" "No, no, no..." You coughed again before turning your head and grabbing a bottle from your bedside table, downing two pills that were in there.
"It's a condition I have, unfortunately." You confessed as you tried to sit up properly to start treating yourself just slightly. "My body keeps breaking, which causes these stupid bleedings... They don't happen frequently, but it still happens." You continue before letting your eyes close once again, focusing on your internal wounds while letting your energy circulate through your body. Once you spot where your wound was, you stopped and turned to Guangyao.
"Could you call the doctor? I really can't heal this one myself, too low on spiritual energy." You said with a soft chuckle before suddenly bowing your head, introducing yourself to him with a smile.
"I'll get you a do-" Guangyao was interrupted by a loud thunder, followed by loud rain crashing down. You turned your head, flinching at the next thunder strike that hit one of the many trees and setting it aflame just seconds later.
"I don't think it's wise to leave now..." "I have to agree." Guangyao said before turning to you again as you coughed a few times again. He stood up, sitting behind you before softly putting his hands on your shoulders. Now, once again, Guangyao wasn't the best fighter nor did he have a lot of energy stored in his body, but anything that could help you was worth it at this point. So when he released his energy from his hands and into your body, which made you sigh softly before you started circulating his along with your own energy. The discomfort in your body started to lessen with every minute, the internal wound was slowly healing and then the pain just stopped. With a heavy sigh, you leaned forward on your knees before sniffing as you looked back at Guangyao.
"Thanks... I feel a lot better now." You gave him a tired smile before turning around, leaning against the wall and staring at the other for a few seconds. It was then that you fully recognized him, he usually was the smartest in the room when meetings were happening. Unfortunately, you also knew that he was often underestimated due to his technical status as a bastard and thus hardly taken serious. You were glad that his father stood up for most of the good ideas that came from Guangyao, which in turn then got more accepted.
"Sorry that you're missing the meeting... I'm sure you prefer being there than here." You spoke, but he just returned it with a soft smile and shook his head.
"I can ask Xichen-gongzi about the rest of the meeting later, so do not worry. Right now you are a priority." He spoke gently and you couldn't help but blush at his statement, even when you knew that he meant nothing by it.
The room remained quiet as neither of you spoke, only the soft patter of rain outside to remind you that time hadn't frozen. Your eyes never faltered, remaining on Guangyao with slight fascination as you wondered what he was thinking of. Before you could, however, he stood up and walked to the doorway. The rain was almost finished, so he could leave without any problem.
"I'll send a doctor your way." Guangyao bows his head at you with a soft smile and you returned it with a smile of your own before watching him leave.
You hoped that the two of you would meet again someday.
