Part 4 of Gotham Characters React to You Getting Easily Scared by a Movie 👻☠😈😨🎃:
Oswald Cobblepot, Renee Montoya & Carmine Falcone <-last part (part 3) Part 1
Oswald Cobblepot is the only one who gets angry — but only because he cares about you. Your reaction has him insulting the people who didn't put enough warnings on the movie, in true Gertrud Kapelput style! 😌😠 He also questions whether he does you good...
Tumblr media
You're glad that you have someone to cling to as the movie gets scarier. No doubt Oswald would frighten the villains. Ah! Why does this movie have to be that scary? Oswald notices right away that you aren't fully enjoying yourself. He knows how strongly you usually hug him and this is harder than usual. You too realize that you're almost sinking your nails into him, and try to relax.
He pauses the movie and diverts his attention to you. "Are okay, dear?" Oswald looks you over, his sea-green eyes mirroring a fracture of the TV's light. You try to smile. "I'm just more easily frightened than you are." "Do you want to stop watching?" "Yes, if it's alright for you—" "We'll stop right away."
He presses few buttons until the TV is off and then tosses the remote control to the other side of the sofa.."Why wouldn't they put warnings before this?! Now you had to suffer! Not to mention: no doubt lots of children will be watching this too, allowed or not. Whoever's responsible should be fired, incompetent fools!" He makes a wild gesture, furious in an endearing way, and catches your look. "What?" "You can be so cute when you're protective, even if you're angry." "I—" he feels warmth spread in his chest, "I'm glad you feel safe with me."
Perhaps you shouldn't: what scared you on screen is often his reality. If this was already hard to watch for you, then— You give him a kiss. "Now I know who I can turn to to fight off movie inspectors." He chuckles. "That you do, my dear."
Renee Montoya has seen her fair share of horrible things but watching something spooky around Halloween or autumn is such a classic date idea that she really wanted to try it. Having her arms around you, bringing you a mug full of tea or hot chocolate or another beverage of your choice, and leaning back to for once get frightened by something fictional seems like a perfect pastime...Until she finds out how you feel about it.
Tumblr media
The evening starts getting uncomfortable for you when the story picks up its pace, the vibe becoming creepier and creepier. At first it's bearable, Renee leaning towards you and giving you some warmth, but then she gets up to bring you something to drink, insisting that you can continue watching, and now you're shivering in front of the television.
"There you go," she announces, and hands you a warm cup, which you take with quivering hands. "What's wrong?" "I'm scared." "Of the movie?" "Mhm." "We can stop watching. You don't have to do this to yourself." You sigh. "Thanks, that's best decision, I think." She strokes your back and kisses you. "It is."
Carmine Falcone doesn't want you to feel as if you were the odd one for being scared. He knows how resistant he's become to horrific occurrences because of his position, and wants to preserve your justified reactions to these things where he can.
Tumblr media
You're trying to be patient, wait a little. Maybe the movie turns out to be less scary than you think. But right now it is definitely scary. Suddenly the film pauses and you feel his hand on your shoulder. "Let's stop here. There are classier movies, my dear." You're sure he means less frightening, but nod regardless, glad that he took the initiative.
______________ Author's note: Everything after the beginning of Carmine's part was written after Halloween, so that's the upside to me not publishing these headcanons/one-shots then 🤗 ->part 5

I barely engage in SPOP fandom stuff anymore for many reasons but I do enjoy your blog from time to time whenever a thought about how poorly written Catra was enters my head. During the show I kept feeling like I was supposed to pity her, empathise with her and root for her but all I felt was increasing disappointment. She’s got so much potential and I don’t dislike her. I love her character design and the odd moment when she does Cat Things. It’s just…there was absolutely nothing about her relationship with Adora that made me hope they’d end up together. Like for sure LGBTQ+ relationships shouldn’t be sanitized and perfect, but there just wasn’t anything….there? resembling love or support from Catra for most of the show.
On the other hand, what I wasn’t expecting was for Hordak of all people to make me begin to consider to leaving my toxic church and abandoning a lot of very harmful self-beliefs. Something about that moment where he realised nothing he could ever do would be good enough for Horde Prime hit home for me. Didn’t expect that but it’s changed my life for the better, which makes it all the more irritating that the show writers didn’t do a better job with Catra.
Yeah, I'm mostly following like, one or two blogs who post more actively about SPOP (and they're both critical of the show). Honestly, most people I follow on Tumblr don't care about SPOP anymore. I think they all dropped it once season 5 ended.
And same! There are some aspects I still like about Catra, like her design and the Cat Things (I am not immune to cute cat noises), save for some sympathetic moments like the ones with Scorpia. She had so much potential but C//A ruined her completely. If Catra wasn't so dependent on Adora then maybe she could've had a more genuine character development, but she's just stuck as being Adora's possessive and petty girlfriend.
I'm glad Hordak helped you realize that! Although he didn't get more screentime, and the cult trauma ended up being used to make us feel more sorry for Catra than Hordak and the other clones (especially since Wrong Hordak is a joke the entire time), I agree that his arc ended up being more compelling than Catra's. I honestly wish Hordak and Horde Prime's dynamic was shown more often, or earlier on. I only remember it being introduced in season 3 and they don't talk about it that much later on (correct me if I'm wrong). But it did give us an insight to Hordak and I thought it was pretty interesting. It's too bad Horde Prime only officially appeared in the season 4 finale, so he's a rather shallow villain.
It's odd because Hordak has, in theory, less development and screentime in comparison to Catra, but in the end she never actually changes. She just changed sides and not for the right reasons. Catra only joined the Rebellion because she had nowhere else to go. She didn't even save Glimmer for the good reasons, she just did it for Adora. You'd think Catra would learn better after season 4... but she only got a haircut that wasn't even her choice and remained an asshole towards Adora and the princesses. It's such a shame.

Daphne threw her head back with a dramatic fake laugh before dropping her eyes back to her sister with a withering look she didn't mean, "Hey," she said softer, "do you think you could put little gems on your fangs?" She tilted her head, "Like a little diamond or some like tiny little flower gem. Might be cute, better than your sucky pun." She teased. Daphne nodded knowingly, the industry while making some changes was still rife with a terrible diet culture that paved paths for disordered eating. "So if I made a blood chocolate cake, would it make the chocolate richer to you?"she wondered aloud while mentally trying to figure out what the blood to water ration conversion would be for a cake. Daphne sighed a bit and took a sip of her coffee, "It'd make sense to me...if it gets hots like why wouldn't it work?" Daphne reached across the table to take her sisters hand, "You don't have to remember it for it to matter," she said softly but nodded, "I'm glad you don't...for whatever that's worth, I'm just relieved you survived," and she did, for as far as Daphne could tell. "I don't understand what this must be like for you. I know it's different to put lightly, but I just- I mean, whatever you need I'm here for you."
Daphne's nose crinkled, "It's a ghost," she agreed with a sure nod. "If your soul leaves your body that's a ghost. I adore Bex, but that's ghost mode....don't do it again tho if you can help it, sounds risky." The more she learned the stranger she believed this place was. She had once believed the world was full of all the oddities and strangeness that she could know. She wasn't often proved wrong in her beliefs, but this time at least some good came from it. Daphne laughed, "I never thought you knew anything anyway, dum dum," she teased fondly; she didn't mean it. No, there was always this strange and deep understanding she had for her sisters. A love so tangled into the pieces of who she was that it hurt her to think of what life would be like without them. Worse, it traumatized her to have known what it was like without Ronnie. "You can practice right?" Daphne's face paled into seriousness, giving a small shake left and right, up and down and knitting her brows together, "Is there a lot of townie on townie murder happening here?" She whispered, leaning closer, "Like some sort of underbelly cover-up?" She didn't believe it, not really but in this place anything felt possible.
Daphne's chest tightened, guilt settling like a stone in the pit of her stomach, "I love..." she took a pause, adverting her eyes, "When you died, it was all I cared about. You know his parents, the image, the hell they could have put him through if he couldn't control me," Daphne rolled her eyes, "Half a life, a ruined life...I had to find where the hell your body had gone, and I had a lead through this real odd PI who was so cagey, Ron. I had to basically promise them my firstborn to get them to give me the information that led me here. So I had to leave without telling him up front," Daphne explained knowing that had she given him the chance he could have talked her out of it, could have convinced her to stay...she would have resented him for it, and loved him anyway.
"I wrote him a letter explaining, telling him as much as I could," she shrugged and in her heart she knew it was a cowards way, not enough by any stretch of the word. It was still all she had, it was the only truth she clung to. "I gave him a choice. I filed the divorce papers and left a letter. He had the choice to choose this half-life I could offer him or let me go." She shrugged her slim shoulders, "so if he loved me, in the end, he decided it wasn't worth it. He never replied, never called...now he is just here, and every time I'm reminded of it, it's like the wind is knocked out of me all over again...he didn't come for me, or for us...it's like some cosmic joke." Daphne huffed, "I'll be okay...just if you see him, it's not his fault okay. I fucked this up. But don't tell him I said that. Or anyone because I'll fucking deny it."
"Well, thank fuck for that, because you'd look like a ghoul if you got too pale," Daphne grimaced, gesturing about her sister's face, "Take your victories, you deserve them," Daphne said, knocking her coffee cup against her sisters in a sort of cheers. She'd live forever...one day Daphne would die, but Ronnie would still be here. She would survive and as long as it was a good life, a life she was happy to be living, then it would be fine. Daphne could live with that. Daphne snorted, "Okay...you may have all the time, but I am tenacious. Some would say stubborn but six one, half dozen. We are who we are and I'm not easily scared off," she mused a small smile behind the tip of a coffee cup. "If I get electrocution I'm going to get so good at it that I just give you bad hair days," Daphne gestured around her head, like the static of a balloon making hair stand on ends. "If not I'll just invest in a real nice tazer. Seems like you need it in a town like this."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"But I vant to point out your sucky pun, mwah ha ha," Ronnie said in a shitty Dracula accent, letting her fangs extend on the word "point." Forever was a really long time, period, one that she was constantly trying not to dwell on every single moment of every single day. She wrinkled up her nose slightly, more bemused than anything. "I mean, if you wanna attempt cooking with blood, I'm not gonna stop you. Regular food's fine, though. Not as filling, but, hey. I'm never gonna count calories again, you know?" She started laughing. "No, no, these are witch potions, Daph, not the faeries. Straight from the cauldron or, you know, whatever witches brew potions in. Coffee maker? Can you brew a potion in a coffee maker?" It brewed, right? So it'd make sense, at least to Ronnie. At Daphne's words, though, she lost some of her levity. "It almost doesn't feel worth it," she said softly. "To, you know, be angry or sad or upset. I don't remember turning. I don't remember... you know. I think if I did, I'd be more fucked up over it, but like that whole first week was a major blur." She was glad she didn't remember any of that. She didn't think she'd be able to stomach it.
"Yeah, yeah, they're so a thing, and apparently people see them!" Ronnie said, leaning forward with wide eyes. "And I totally was one. Okay, so, Bex said I wasn't a ghost, I just left my body, but what is that if not a ghost?" she asked, rushing her words. She looked at Daphne, wondering if she wanted to siphon, feeling almost guilty at the thought of it. "I... Okay, like, full disclosure? I also don't want to always know shit," she said, laughing as she rubbed the back of her neck. "I'm also not good at it. I'm a really shitty vampire. I can't figure out how to do the picking and choosing siphoning thing, and it's fun to do this shit where you, like fuck around with the shadows, but I'm terrible at that, too. But, yeah, yeah, I have to siphon to do the shadow magic; any magic, really. Otherwise it's just the other perks." Like breaking doors and running into trees and not sleeping. So fun. "Things are apparently like so much worse if you don't join your club thingy, in the long run. Just don't kill people," she said with a mock sternness. "I don't think they like it when you do that."
Ronnie looked at Daphne with sad eyes. "Is it a half life if it was with someone he loved? I don't... I don't really know the circumstances," she said quietly. "I don't know what you were going through. I don't know how it was with him. I just remember that he really fucking cared about you." It had made her jealous, almost. Daphne had gone through three marriages, sure, but the last one had seemed right. Jesus, if Daphne and Nate couldn't make it, then what fucking hope did Ronnie have? Not that she wanted to make it, right? Not that she had anyone to make it with.
"I can still tan," Ronnie laughed before sobering. "And I... yeah. Yeah, I live forever." She looked down at her drink again. How the tables had turned. Her family had all thought, not too long ago, that they'd outlived her. And now she was the one that would outlive all of them. How fucked up was that? "Hey," Ronnie said, pointing a finger at Daphne. "I thought I was, like, keeping you safe. I'd have kept up the song and dance forever if I thought it meant you wouldn't be stuck here with me and the supporting cast of a fucking Anne Rice novel." Still, she relaxed back in her seat, taking a sip of her coffee and nodding. "Do it for the perks. I got a fancy jacket and a nifty ring. Listen, if they let you chose-- I don't know how that shit works-- but if they let you choose, go for the flamethrower magic or, like, the electrocution shit. Just fucking start zapping people. But not me."

Devil likes pastel color (Platonic Wednesday x Fem!Reader)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Hallo!” you smiled as you approached the black haired girl next to you.
In the month you have been there, a lot of classmates have approached you, wanting to be your friends and making you feel welcomed, because a new girl in the school was always a rare but awesome thing, and you were so nice and lovely, the kind of person everyone would want around.
Everyone, except Wednesday Addams. The girl wasn’t rude to you, she just didn’t talk or even see in your direction, which you respected. You find her fascinating, but after the first attempt to befriend her, where she commented on your “utterly horrible and eye burning clothes”, you stopped trying. You laughed it off, of course, but never bothered her again.
Too bad the teacher didn’t care about Wednesday’s wishes at all and paired you with her for the next project. Well, you could always try to make this a pleasant experience for both of you. Which would be easier if the girl would even look at you.
“How are you?” you tried again
She remained quiet. You started to feel a little awkward, but your parents taught you to be patient with people.
“So...what do you think we should do for our project?” you asked and smiled again.
“We can see how long it takes a wolf to eat a small human” she finally answered.
You were making progress!! Good! And this was something you actually knew about, so it was amazing! Too bad you didn’t hear the sarcasm in her voice, nor caught the hint about you being the small human. You totally missed her threat.
“Well, it depends. Wolves usually eat 3.3 pounds of meat per day, 22 if they’re starving. So, I’m guessing between 6 and 43 days, depending how angry is it” you smiled.
Wednesday frowned and finally looked at you. You had listened about how she could make anyone fear her with only looking at them, but to you, it was a victory. If you were honest, she was the most interesting person you’ve ever met.
“How much do you weigh?” she asked and raised an eyebrow.
This time, you understood the meaning and couldn’t help but giggle. She was so cute.
“Enough to feed a growth wolf, that’s for sure” you said “But I doubt Akela would allow any other wolf near me”
The other girl blinked and her whole posture changed. She even turned so she was fully facing you this time. Second point to you!
“You have a wolf?” she asked
“Oh yes, he’s such a good boy, always protecting us from people who get too close. I think he still has a hand on the basement. Not sure whom it belonged to. But don’t worry, he’s sweet with the people we like” you finished with a huge smile.
By the way Wednesday’s face changed from annoyed to interested, you knew you had her full attention now.
_________________
“Can I help you?”
You smiled when a lovely tall lady in a black dress greeted you. It had been a month since that project you and Wednesday did and you two became good friends since then. Everyone at school thought it was odd, because you two were total opposites, but for you it only made your friendship even better! Besides, your pastel dresses always looked better with Wednesday’s black ones, you made each other stand out.
Yet, this was the first time you came to her house. At first, she said she’d prefer to work at your place because that way her younger brother wouldn’t bother you (even if the idea of Akela attacking Pugsley was tempting for her), but then it was just that she enjoyed the way you and your family treated her,
Don’t get it wrong, deep inside she loved her strange family, but being the older (and better) child meant her parents would usually expect too much from her, and you were a single child, which meant you and your parents would give her all your attention. Besides, she discovered your parents were amazing.
They shared your same pastel aesthetic, but also your creepiness. You weren’t cruel, far from that, in fact, she’d often find your manners and sweet talk too cloying for her taste, but there were times when a darker side of you would come out, usually if you were in trouble or danger, and those, those were her favorite moments. When you’d get all psycho and murder. She found it kind of cute.
There was only so much her parents could teach her, but your parents were still a box of surprises and she loved learning new ways of using knives, chains, poison or raising spiders. But after a month of getting to know you all, she decided it was time for you to meet her family too.
“Good afternoon, Mrs. Addams” your mother said, with a big smile “We apologize for any inconvenience, we’re just here to leave our little princess”
The woman frowned but before she could say anything, a man with a funny mustache and a cigarette approached her from behind.
“And who are these people with a horrendous sense of fashion, cara mia?” he asked.
Your parents laughed and this time your father presented you all in a better way.
“We’re the Y/L/Ns. Our little princess here was invited to your lovely house” your father said.
“Mother, father” a voice came behind the Addams “I invited her”
You smiled when Wednesday approached you all with a small smirk. She never smiled the way you or your parents did, but her smirk was still a nice touch. It fit her.
“This is Y/N, and her parents, Y/F/N and Y/M/N” the girl said.
This time, the Addams seemed to understand and opened their eyes in realisation.
“Oh, so this is the girl you kept telling us about, dear Wednesday” the woman said “Our apologies, we weren’t expecting you to have such...tastes in clothes” she said.
You and Wednesday looked at each other and smirked. You two knew what her parents would think about your family’s aesthetic, it was the same the black-haired girl thought at first, but you had the hope that, just like their daughter, the Addams could see past the pastel color and build a good relationship with them.
You knew your parents would at least try.
___________________
“I think nuts could cover the amoniac” you casually said “Mom could help us bake some cookies”
Wednesday didn’t look up from her book, but you could see her rolling her eyes and smirking.
You were right, your parents and the Addams quickly got along despite the initial suspicion from the goth family. And now it was common for you to spend days and nights at the Addams mansion or them visiting your place (although this was less common, since they didn’t like to go out too much). It was like having a second family! But despite getting to know them all now, Wednesday was still yours and your parents’ favorite.
That’s why you were a little mad about the current topic.
It wasn’t rare for people to call Wednesday a freak or other names, but it never bothered her. She knew who she was and didn’t let anyone unimportant affect her. But you were another story. You hated people who judged others only because of their looks, it didn’t matter if they called you pretty or wanted to be your friends only because you seemed nice, if they dared to disrespect Wednesday, they were automatically on your black list.
But even then, it was a thing to call other people nasty names (which was still wrong, but you could ignore it), and another too different was to try to punch her (thank god she was strong and stopped their hand before it could hit her face).
You tried to fight them, but Wednesday just picked you up (again, she was really strong) and pulled you out of there. Needless to say, it surprised everyone at school. Nobody thought that sweet Y/N could be so scary or that creepy Wednesday would be the calmed one.
If only they knew it was like that 60% of the time.
“Ok, ok, what about a tea party at my house and I accidentally let Akela out?” you asked and smiled when the wolf under Wednesday’s feet looked at you, ready to follow orders.
“We would have to clean the blood from the carpets” she said “besides, that kind of junk food could give him indigestion” she finished, caresing Akela’s head.
“Fiiiiiiine” you pouted “but I still think the cookie are a good idea”
The black-haired girl didn’t say anything but the smirk was all you needed. Both of you sat down in silence, enjoying the books on your hands, when something hit your window. It wasn’t a mystery who it could be, especially when other water balloons followed the first one.
“Hey freak! Come show your face!” someone outside yelled.
You looked at Wednesday, but she only rolled her eyes and shrugged. Akela was alert and you could sense the change in the mood. He knew something was wrong, he could feel your anger.
“Seems like they fell for the beauty and the beast explanation, uh?” she said and you frowned.
You had heard the rumors about her being some kind of witch who put a spell on you to control you, given that there was no other explanation as to why you would like to be friends with her. It was stupid and made you mad that they think you couldn’t make a choice for yourself or that they seemed to think about you as a fragil doll. Were they really stupid enough to believe it?
“Well, let’s show them who the beast really is” you smirked as you walked out, with Akela following you.

How To Write Good // Vernon
Tumblr media
A/N: It all started with watching Vernon’s English tutor series and now we’re here omg. This is my first series so please give it some love <3 kind of unedited so lmk if there’s any mistakes! PART ONE | PART TWO | PART THREE
PAIRING: Vernon x You
GENRE: enemies to ???, fluff, student!vernon, tutor!vernon
WARNINGS: swearing
WORD COUNT: 2.7K
SUMMARY: There’s the crisp air of campus, the rush of something new, and a four year degree ahead of you. Your college experience doesn’t go off as smoothly as you’d hoped when you fall asleep on course selection day and are stuck with left over electives. Struggling to get through your creative writing class, you have no idea how you’re going to get through this semester. Fate steps in when the stranger you fought in the library might just be your only chance at passing. This is all just part of the college experience… right?
Orange leaves began surrounding the burnt red brick pathway, and the small green hills of the campus quad.  Fall was fast approaching, without much warning.  The bright summer sky, now often clouds of gray. The wind brushed past you, causing your hair to fly up. Your legs brushed together quickly as you tried to make your way through campus to get to your Writing in the Arts class. You swore to yourself that you wouldn't sleep through course selection but sometimes sleep was an actual priority to you...and it so happened to be on that day.  Not your first choice, but definitely miles ahead of  Economic History on the list of leftover electives.
You flipped over your wrist to take a look at the time on your brown pleather watch. 8:12.
Professor Hampton was an older woman, who always kept her sandy brown hair in a slick tight low bun. She had enforced a rule that the doors to the lecture hall would shut 15 minutes past the hour. If you didn’t make it then you’d have to get notes from a classmate. Maybe it’d be fine if you had a friend in the class that was actually punctual, but you had often sat alone in the same spot in the far left corner of the class room.  Time was definitely never on your side as you reckoned you only had 3 minutes left until your trip downtown was rendered useless.
You swung the thick metal door open, and began pumping your legs forward, not stopping until you reached the top of the stairs. To your luck, the lecture hall was on the exact end of the hallway. As you took longer strides, your gray backpack bounced behind you. Finally arriving at the end of the long hallway, you came face to face with Professor Hampton, who had a scowl so thick you’d think it was drawn on with a felt tip permanent marker. Without an ounce of forgiveness, that old lady secured the door shut, eyes keen on your betrayed face just a few centimetres from hers.
With the little pride you still had, you contained the urge  to bang on the door repeatedly and say "OPEN UP."
If you hadn't had time to get ready that day, or missed your bus, dammit this would've been the boiling point that would've driven you to  kick the wall. Your saving grace was that there was a cute guy typing away on his laptop in this hallway and you'd be damned if you were about to look a fool.
It was that moment, you knew that if you were going to pass this class without sacrificing a wink of sleep, you were going to have to make a friend that was good at writing notes. And quick.
The next day, you navigated your way through the twists and turns of the library, never having had been there a day in your life. You swear you’d gone in a circle at this point. You promised your best friend, Taylor that you’d secure a spot for your impromptu study date. Although you both had good intentions, you knew it was more than likely going to become a gossip session that involved sometimes looking at class material.
Among the rows and rows of occupied tables, you finally found an empty table, situated next to the window that overlooked the architecture and art buildings. You settled in the chair, slipping your laptop out of your tote bag , and typing mindlessly to look busy while you waited for your friend. With a look around the room, you wondered if people actually studied at the library or if they were just faking it like you.
You were so immersed in your game of Tetris you almost didn’t hear the voice that said , “Hey, I think you’re at the wrong table.”
You paused your game and surveyed the empty wooden table you were sitting at.  You blinked slowly at the brown haired man.  “I was here first.”
“That might be true but I booked it out for the hour.” The stranger stood with a slight slouch, sporting a backwards snapback and a deep green hoodie. He didn't look like the type to hang out around the library- but then again, neither did you. You swear you had seen him before, but you couldn't place where.
Did I go to high school with him?  you thought.
What if he was ugly and had a glow up and that’s why I don’t recognize him?
You took a closer look at him.
Nah. I don’t think he’s ever been ugly in his life.
“Look. My name's right here." He leaned forward, showing you his screen.
[TABLE 9] 3:00pm - Vernon C.
You pushed the phone away, unimpressed. "But you showed up late."
"It was only 6 minutes." Vernon scoffed, as if his tardiness would automatically forfeit him from his table.
"Well, have you ever heard of finder's keepers?"
Vernon nodded, his voice pointed. "But have you ever heard of fair and square?"
You tried your best to conceal the fact that you were somewhat amused by his elementary-level comeback.
"Could you look into your great, big heart to share?” You pouted tauntingly.
"Oh, yeah, because you need a table to play Tetris." He responded sarcastically but it was as if he had crept into your mind. You dreaded the idea of being on your feet trying to find another place for your game.
Your best friend rolled in between you two innocently, confused at the interaction at hand. It was like a kid walking in on their mom and dad fighting for the first time… except dad is a Tetris-hating stranger you just met 3 minutes ago.
“Sorry I’m late, Y/N.”  Taylor interjected, trying her best to mend the atmosphere with a grin.  Vernon's posture went notably straight as he exhaled, returning a sweet close-lipped smile. You couldn't help but notice the way he looked at your friend- you squinted at the shadow of the difference between this Vernon and the one that basically told you to fuck off only moments prior.
Without a doubt, you knew he was suffering from the "Taylor Effect".
Taylor was your textbook girl next door; equipped with a warm demeanour, and a confidence that was endearing rather than cocky.  You could tell that Vernon was trying his best not to stare so obviously, but he was failing miserably.
Because everyone gravitated towards her, many found it odd that she chose to keep you as company. Sometimes you thought she stuck around only because your personalities were so starkly different and would emphasize how great she was, but time and time again she proved she was notable on her own accord.
"Did I interrupt something?"
You and the man shared a look.
Vernon had a feeling that if he let you speak first, that you might ruin his chances with Taylor, and there was absolutely NO shot that he was going to tell her what had just happened. You were quick to take advantage of the situation.
“Vernon just wanted to take the tab-“
He shook his head, "No, no, no I was just leaving."
You raised your eyebrow, smugly.
“I'll see you later,” He bid.  Your eyes widened as he went closer to you, clasping his hand around yours and pulling you forwards into an almost embrace. He dapped you up. Vernon dapped you up. What? Did he think you were bros now?
Ya, right. You thought. This is my first and last time in this library. You will never see me or my Tetris again.
And with that, he swung his backpack over his shoulder  coolly and headed down the long carpeted aisle in the other direction.
Only a few moments later did he return to go through the north exit. “Wrong way.” He mumbled, charting past both of you.
“So you don’t know anyone in that class?” Taylor said in disbelief as you two sat at the table you had only marginally won.
“No, I missed the first two weeks so by the time I actually went to class  they already had their groups.”  you responded, blowing air out of your mouth in frustration.
School had only just begun and Taylor had swept up a bunch of friends, including you, in just this one semester.
You, on the other hand, were awkward, but not in the forgivable way. You never knew the right thing to say, and your sarcasm drew a fine line between a joke and the truth. You felt like you always had to bite your tongue to hold a decent conversation with someone. In turn, this scared a lot of people away, and resulted in a small but good group of friends that understood you.
For some reason though, you did well with confrontation. That was the only time you could force yourself to not care about what someone else thought about you. Other than that, your communication skills were almost useless.
“So go up to those kids and say hi.” Taylor responded.
You knew your best friend was being well meaning, but sometimes she felt like she oversimplified your problems because she saw it through her own lens. Of course it would be easy for Taylor to do so, but for you it would be a different story. Your stomach turned at even the mere thought of introducing yourself to the group of strangers that always sat all the way in the front of the lecture hall.
“I’ll just figure it out. I don't know how to just talk to people."
“What about that guy that I just saw you with? What was that about?”
You cleared your throat, fixing your attention to your laptop screen. Getting work done suddenly seemed more interesting.
“No, no, no look at me.” Taylor dragged your laptop away.
You begrudgingly looked at your friend. “What about him?”
“Who was that? He was kind of cute.” She cupped her cheek with her hand and sat closer, clearly interested. It was rare to see you with anyone other than your usual friend group so Taylor was invested in your endeavours outside of it.
You knew that if you told Taylor about your weird argument with a stranger, that she’d explain that you were unfriendly, that you needed to be nicer, etc. etc. You didn’t need a lecture today.
“Just some dude who finished using the table.”
Taylor chuckled, “What kind of guy says bye like that to a person he just met?”
Her guess was as good as yours.
ONE WEEK LATER
Determination is setting 25 morning alarms, pre-picking your clothes and opting for an on-the-go breakfast in order to just make it on time for class. You took your final strides towards the class slowly, knowing you finally had time on your side. Would it be crazy to call waking up at 6am a victory? Doesn’t matter, you were just so happy, you could answer Professor Hampton’s questions… that is, if you listened.
At the bottom of the lecture hall, sat the aforementioned groups, while the top were lonesome stragglers looking at their phones in an effort to look less lonely. You knew they were probably just reviewing their settings; turning their wifi on and off.
Professor Hampton cleared her throat into the microphone at the front of the class, prompting you to pick up the pace to your regular spot at the far left corner.
No way.
Your speed slowed down again, as you craned your head to get a better look at a brown-haired boy sitting by himself.
Despite the numerous empty seats to choose from, your caffeine rush assisted you in making the possibly dumb decision of sitting exactly right next to him. He seemed unbothered, though as he didn’t look up to question it.
Professor Hampton played her slides, while you pulled out your laptop out of your tote bag.
“Hey.” You whispered.
The man’s light brown eyes flickered towards you.
“You’re in this class?” Vernon whisper-exclaimed.
It registered in your brain that this might’ve been a mistake.
You nodded.
Vernon kept his focus on the front of the class, his pencil swivelled  away on his lined paper. You had never seen anyone actually take real-life notes before. You scanned his paper, pleasantly surprised at the organization.
“Why did you dap me up last week?”
“I honestly don’t know what I was doing.” He admitted.
Boys do dumb things around pretty girls. You'd seen it happen so many times with Taylor.
“She’s cute isn’t she?”
“Who?” Vernon was quick to play dumb, but he clearly knew.
You were fascinated by how he was writing and listening to you at the same time.
“Taylor—my friend.”
Vernon squinted his eyes, either to think or because he couldn’t see the projection clearly. It made you wonder why he sat in the back of the class if that was the case.
“Yeah, she is.”
Bingo.
You silently relished in your impromptu decision to sit next to a stranger.
“What would you say if I got you a date with her?”
Vernon put his pencil down. “You strike me as the kind of person who wouldn’t do that out of the kindness of your heart.”
You snorted. “You’re right.”
Vernon let out a deep sigh, pushing his hoodie sleeve up his arms. He relaxed back in his seat and stared at you as he waited for your proposal.
“What is it?” His deep voice was littered with impatience but it was clear he was at least curious.
You weren’t  prepared to gain his full attention. Your mind went several ways as you collected your thoughts to be as concise as possible.
“I’m struggling in this class, okay? I can’t always make it on time, and creative writing? Not really something I’m interested in.”
“Then why’d you take the class?”
“Why does anyone do anything here? For the credit.” You responded as if the answer was obvious.
Vernon’s raised eyebrows was enough to tell you that he was actually passionate about this subject— which was perfect for you if you wanted to pass the class.
“How do I come into this, though?” His patience running thin from your incredibly interesting backstory.
“If you tutor me up until midterms and I pass, I’ll get you a date with Taylor.”
He shook his head “What if you fail?”
“Then you can take that as a reflection of your teaching skills,” Vernon rolled his eyes. Okay maybe that was a bad joke. “but on the plus side you’ve gained a new friendddddd.”
Professor Hampton gave you two a dirty look on her way back from shutting the lecture hall’s door. Vernon picked up his pencil to look busy and you tapped on your trackpad to turn the screen on.
“And what if I say no?” Vernon said between his teeth, catching the professor glare right at him with her scowl turned up to one hundred.
“Then I’ll shit talk about you to Taylor so you never have a chance.” You threatened. Your mom always urged you to use your brain, and boy, were you using it.
“You want me to teach you how to be creative?”
You shrugged. “I mean, how hard can it be?”
Vernon looked down at his notes contemplating his choices. He was silent for so long that you actually started typing notes.
“Y/N” Vernon whispered. You seemed to be fully immersed in the lesson now. Your eyes absorbing the information... Maybe writing was kind of fascinating.
“Y/N” He tried again, snapping you out of a trance.
“My bad.” you apologized. “I didn’t know the interesting part of the story was called the climax like ew—”
“I can only tutor you on Thursdays between 6 and 8 in the library. Bring your laptop and be prepared to learn.”
You knew you didn’t have class at those hours, so it should’ve been fine, but you also dreaded staying after school longer than you had to.
“What about 4-6?” You pleaded.
Vernon looked offended at your counter offer. “No. 6-8”
“4:30…?” You tried once again.
Vernon snorted at your no-quit attitude. “You wanna pass or not?”
You stuck out your hand defeatedly and Vernon shook on it before either of you could change your mind. Vernon was your new tutor.
Maybe Taylor was right. All you had to do was go up to someone and say “hi.”
And blackmail them. And use your friend as bait.
Making friends was easy.

Okay so you know how some of the survivors have items within the realm? (Bill's cigarette, Mikaela's book, Jonah's smartphone, etc.) What about a reader who was yoinked like mid-picnic and ends up sharing their basket of food and lemonade? Could we get Max, Dwight, and a character of your choice's reactions to being sudden lunch-buddies? 🍱
ASDFJKL- THIS IS SO CUTE??? Yes, I'll gladly do this omg!
Max Thompson Jr./The Hillbilly
It was certainly awkward carrying all that food, but you didn't really mind. You were about to do a rather neighborly thing, and what's a slightly sore shoulder in the face of a growing friendship...? Making yourself known, you wait for Max to meet you halfway. You never liked intruding, even after he has welcomed you onto the farm with open arms.
It only takes a few quiet moments for him to peek out of a glassless window, shuffling to the doorless entrance of the farm and awkwardly wave you over. Max was always uncertain, even after you've established yourself as being the furthest thing from a threat to him. You couldn't blame him, though, and set out to show him that not everyone was evil or out to get him. I hope this isn't too much...
"Hey, Max! How are you doing?" You slowly walk towards the porch as he shrugs, shifting from foot to foot absentmindedly. Max quickly notices the bag you are carrying, and with furrowed brows and a thoughtful frown, he gestures towards it with a nod of his head.
"Oh, this?" You hold it up with a single, trembling arm. "Uh, this is... you know... Just some food?" You shouldn't have laughed at the face Max made, but how couldn't you? He's ridiculously cute when he scrunches up his nose and makes the most confused, and slightly disgusted, facial expression you think you've ever seen.
"Hey, don't look at me like that! This is just, um, a little thanks for letting me hang out here sometimes?" You finished far weaker than you had hoped, but it did nothing to detract from what you had just said. You? Are thanking him? Him?! Really, Max thought he heard you wrong, but no. You said what you had meant and meant what you had said.
Yeah, it was awkward as hell, but really? You didn't mind so much. After the first few painful moments had passed, Max actually managed to relax, even for just a little bit. He was left simply speechless, and unsure if he really deserved any of this. You were kind to him, for what reason, he was totally unsure of, but what he did know was that he was extraordinarily grateful that you decided, against all odds, to continue returning to the decrepit Thompson Farm.
Dwight Fairfield
You've shared your food with all of the survivors many, many times. There's no way you would hoard all of this goodness to yourself, and though everyone has eaten it dozens- well... maybe hundreds of times already, the normalcy of eating something is a major moral boost for everyone in the survivor's camp.
Occasionally, though, you were a tad selfish with your little gift. Not often, not in a way that was rude or anything like that! You just... sometimes wanted to spoil a special someone. Someone that you hold dear to your heart and has help you more than you could possibly thank him for...
You have no reason to be this nervous talking to Dwight. He wasn't unapproachable by any sense of the word, not to mention he was usually the one who's nerves were completely shot. This isn't even the first time you've done this! The two of you have had several of these little lunch dates- NO! No, not "dates", uh, m-meetings...? Yeah! Meetings... with just the two of you, talking about whatever crosses your mind and sitting really close and quietly admiring one another-
"WANNA COME SIT WITH ME?!"
Dwight looked like a deer in the headlights. Totally shocked and taken aback by both your volume and lack of grace. Shit... Warmth rose to your cheeks. Dumbass...! Tears of embarrassment pricked your eyes, and to hide your growing mortification, you grin broadly, ignoring how your breaths come out in short, huffy wheezes and how your entire body trembles lightly. Blinking a few times, you watch the colour rise to Dwight's own cheeks as he clears his throat. Fiddling with his glasses, he sheepishly nods, trying his best to hide his growing smile with the duck of his head.
"Y-Yeah! I-I'd love to!"
Demogorgon
It was simple: you give him food; he doesn't maul you to death. It's worked surprisingly well. Sure, he still kills and/or eats you in trial sometimes, but not all the time. And, well... you have grown rather fond of the demon dog, in your own way. Maybe he's grown a tad attached to you, too? Or to the food you give him, at least.
You didn't like the Hawkins Lab, and you really didn't like all the gross, viscous slime that coated the entirety of the walls, ceiling, and floor, but you delt with it to the best of your ability. It was difficult to keep your footing and not slip and bust your ass on the hard concrete floor, but you managed, somehow. You didn't like this place, but you weren't nearly as bothered as you should have been. You really missed your little puppy...
Long grey, slender and bony fingers wrapped around a doorframe a few feet in front of you. A familiar head poked out, almost cautiously, and you nearly laughed. Nearly. It was bizarre to see such a bloodthirst and powerful creature act so careful, but you couldn't help the corners of your mouth tugging upwards. The Demogorgon towers over you, even when resting on his haunches and with his head bowed.
He sniffed the air tentatively, head cocking this way and that. Lowering his head to the basket in your hand, he brushes the tip of one of his long, dark talons against the rough material. In the beginning, he'd simply rip it from your hands and eat it whole, containers and all. Now, he actually waits for you to individually unpack everything and lay it out for him to eat.
It was really strange, but you have developed a bit of a soft spot for the creature. You enjoyed sitting on the floor and tossing him food, watching the petals of his head open and snap shut as he effortlessly catches the food midair. It's still kinda disturbing, but you are fascinated by how his body both looks and functions. Sometimes, if you're lucky, he even lets you touch him and, dare you say, pet him! You're not really sure why you still feed the demon dog, but the quiet company is something that you hope doesn't change anytime soon.

“Please, Yuta. I need you.” You pleaded, falling onto your knees as you held onto his hand.
“Stop, people are watching.” He pulled you up, slightly vowing to the students staring at the little scene. “I’ve already told you I’m too busy with my own projects.”
“Yuta.” You whined, feeling like you were running out of options.
“I have a couple friends that might be willing to help you, but I can’t promise anything.”
As expected, all of them rejected you. Everyone was too caught up with their own work to care about yours. But one magnificent day, you found your muse. You met him at the cafeteria, he was simply eating pizza, yet he looked like a model.
He pretended not to acknowledge your piercing gaze, but as you started walking to his table he couldn't help but blush, playing anxiously with the pages of his textbook. Why was the goddess of the art department walking towards him?
“Hi, I'm y/n.” You casually sat in front of him, extending your hand towards him as if this wasn't the first time you'd seen him.
“I’m Jungwoo.” He was literally the epitome of cuteness, his pretty cheeks tinted pink and his brown locks casting shadows over his forehead.
“What’s your major?” You rested your chin over your palms, eyeing the book on the table.
“Mechanical engineering.” He surely didn't look like an engineer, but that sort of made him even more attractive.
“That's cool. So listen- wait, before that, can I grab a French fry? I'm starving.” He nodded, his eyebrows knitted together. “Thank you.”
You chewed on the savory fry, moaning at the flavor.
“So, what were you saying?”
“Oh, right!” You cleared your throat. “So for my final project, I have to paint a human portrait, but it turns out, none of my shitty friends wants to help me.” He couldn't help the small laugh escaping his lips. “Unbelievable, right? So I had no other choice but to hunt down the perfect muse by myself. I was about to give up just when I saw you, sitting here all by yourself like some mysterious rom-com guy.”
“Do you want me to be your muse?”
“Well since you're offering, I'd be more than happy to paint you.” He was about to object, but you resumed your nonstop chatting. “Of course, I’d pay for your time, not too much though, my part-time job doesn't pay that well.”
And that's pretty much how he ended up meeting you every Tuesday, sitting for two hours straight while you painted his gorgeous face. The mood was always cheerful with you around, always making small talk and provoking some smiles from him. He got to know you better during the month you spent together. Jungwoo realized you were the most authentic person he'd ever met, maybe that's why everyone on campus was so enamored by you. On the other hand, he was nothing like the shy boy you first met at the cafeteria. He was so bright, his laugh so pretty that it made you want to hear it every day.
“This is our last session.” You announced as soon as your canvas was fixed in place. “Time goes by so quickly, don't you think?”
“Yeah, sure.” You noticed the saddened expression on his face.
“What’s wrong, woo?” He loved the nickname you decided to give him on your first session, it made him feel closer to you.
“It’s just a pity that we won't get to see each other as often anymore.”
“Who says we won't?” You started moving the paintbrush over the canvas, adding the final details to your portrait.
“You still wanna hang out with me?”
“Of course I do! You're finally opening up to me, I won't risk losing the progress we've made.” His heart felt like it’d escape his chest any minute.
“I thought you were just using me for your project.” You gasped, approaching his seating place with the paintbrush still between your fingers.
“How dare you, Kim Jungwoo?” There was a dramatic pause before you painted the tip of his nose.
“You didn't.” You wiggled your eyebrows, running away from him as he stood up. “Get back here!”
“Stop!” You threatened him with your brush, back pressed against the wall. “I won't hesitate to paint you again.”
“Scary.” His chest was touching yours, faces barely centimeters away.
“Where’s the shy Jungwoo I met?”
“I don't know what you're talking about.” His knee positioned between your legs, pushing against your core. “What is it with that face?”
“Have you been deceiving me from the beginning?” You tiptoed, trying to hold back the small whine threatening to fall from your lips.
“No.” He raised his knee, this time, the imminent whine managing to get past your mouth. “I really was shy around you, but you're so easy to be with. I feel like I can be myself when I'm with you.”
“By yourself, you mean your horny self?” He started moving his limb back and forth, making sure to apply pressure on the right spot.
“I wasn't planning to do this, I didn't even know you wanted to see me after your project was done.” His finger pads danced over your neck, causing goosebumps over the sensitive skin.
“Well, then, are you gonna kiss me or should I take The first step?” He giggled before attaching his mouth to yours, a variety of new sensations growing at the bottom of your stomach. “God, I wish my project would've been related to nude portraits.”
“I would've definitely called the cops if you had asked me to be your nude model.”
“Mean.” Your face inched closer to his lips once again, slightly biting into his skin.
“Are you alright with this?” He lightened up the pressure on your heat, making sure you were both on the same page.
“Yes. But I don't know about making love in a classroom, though.”
“Making love?”
“I don't like the way ‘fucking’ sounds.” He chuckled. “Would you rather have me calling it sexual intercourse?”
“Stop talking before my dick gets soft.”
He lifted you with ease, sitting on the stool you usually used with you on his lap. His hands rubbed the sides of your thighs affectionately, slowly lifting the fabric of your purple dress to reveal your panties. He wasted no time on moving them to the side, quickly using his digits to make sure you were wet enough.
You helped him undo his jeans, clumsy hands struggling to get the zipper down.
“Allow me.”
“Be gentle, alright?” You placed your hands behind his head, toying with his brown locks as he aligned himself with you. He nodded. “I need verbal confirmation, woo.”
“I promise to be gentle, y/n.” You felt his tip prodding at your small hole, bracing yourself for the imminent pain. “Look at me.”
He started sliding inside you, your fingers accidentally tugging his hair. He didn't complain, though, too immersed in your face to even notice. You glanced at him, noticing how handsome he was from up close. His eyes looked like they carried the stars- no, the whole universe, you'd definitely have to paint them one day.
“Can I move?” You nodded, holding back the smile creeping up your lips as he started thrusting upwards. “Not even in my wildest dreams would I have imagined we'd end up like this.”
“Well, I'm glad you accepted to be my model.” You let out an open-mouthed moan, his dick hitting your G-spot.
“Pill?” You nodded, letting him do all the hard work while you enjoyed yourself. “Pretty.” He kissed your throat, holding your glutes to push himself further into you.
There were no words needed to know you were both incredibly close to release, just a few more thrusts had your pussy pulsating around him, his warm cum coating your walls.
“This is the best love-making session I've ever had.” You let your body fall against his, causing him to lose balance and almost fall down. “Sorry.”
“Well, we can always repeat this. Maybe I can actually be your nude model for your next masterpiece.”
“Who is this guy?” He chuckled, the corner of his eyes picking the image of the recently painted portrait. “Don’t look!”
But he was already admiring the product of your hard work, and it was amazing, to say the least. It was a picture of him smiling, sunlight coming in through the large window panel beside him and directly hitting his face.
“If you don't get an A, I'll write a complaint.”
“I like your way of thinking. I'm getting the feeling that you and I will be a power couple, only if you want that too, of course.”
“Let’s go out for dinner and I'll think about it.”

You had known him for the longest time, probably since you were both learning the alphabet.
Even back then he was a troublesome boy.
Loved to dip your hair in paint, pour glue inside your backpack.
Or always pushed you off the swings cause he wanted to play in it.
This didn't really faze you back then.
Most of the boys that age played such tricks on almost all the girls.
They all had a specific target and you were Wooyoung's.
You remember telling this one day to your mom, who simply chuckled.
"Honey, boys tend to tease the girls they have a crush on."
You remember looking at her with confusion.
How could they treat someone they like with such utter disrespect and rudeness?
"Because they don't know how to express their feelings."
Like an idiot you believed that, and being the naive little girl you were, you kinda started developing a crush on him.
You remember the first time you talked back to him, it's engraved in your head because it was the first time of many to come where his words, and actions, hurt you.
"Just admit you like me Wooyoung! You only tease me cause you're in love with me."
You remember the rage and disgust in his eyes as he shoved you to the ground, making you scrape your knee on the pavement.
"Get this through that dumb brain of yours Y/N....
No one will ever love a dirty little rat like you."
You came home crying that day. Hurt physically and emotionally at his words.
And the years to come weren't better, as you grew up, Wooyoung's bullying towards you escalated.
You hoped that after you graduated high school and started going to university, you'd be free from him, never see him again.
You could finally be happy for once in your life. Focus on your goals and career.
Everything was going great for you!.......
Until you walked into class and found out not only had Wooyoung been accepted to the same university...
He was majoring in the same field as you!
"Hey dirty little rat. Missed me?"
His cocky smile sent shivers down your spine, you were already fearing what he had in store for you.
If you thought high school was hell, it was nowhere near as awful as the torment Wooyoung was now putting on you.
Tripping you down the stairs to the point you had severe injuries.
Writing nasty and derogatory names on your desk that now wouldn't come off and you'd be forced to look at every time you went to class.
One time he went as far as stealing your assignments, ultimately leading to failing an entire semester.
You were so heartbroken and just done with his shit. You felt no more motivation to even continue studying.
Until a cute boy named Yeonjun transferred and took an interest in you.
He was super nice, friendly and not to mention good looking and hella tall.
It was more than obvious too that he wanted establish a relationship with you, anyone and everyone could see that.
Especially Wooyoung and he did not look the way someone else was making you happy.
So he devised a plan, not caring how messed up it was.
He made sure someone convinced you to go to a party he'd be at.
You found it odd that he was suddenly acting super nice to you, not even calling you those mild nicknames he called you in front of others.
And it shocked you even more when he suddenly apologized to you for everything he'd done to you, even offering to talk to your professor about your assignment.
His eyes seemed so sincere, you actually believed him.
Perhaps he finally decided to change, realized his behavior was unnecessary and immature and of course, like an idiot you accepted his apology.
You got wasted for the first time in your life that night and could not remember anything at all.
Until Wooyoung was 'kind' enough to brief you in on what happened.
He pulled out his phone and made you watch a video he had filmed of you two that night.
Your stomach hurled over as you realized it was a fucking sex tape, you and Wooyoung had actually fucked that night.
"What! No no! This couldn't have happened! There's no way!" You refused to believe it.
Wooyoung just smirked at you.
"Oh but it did happen kitten. You were so eager too as the video displays, you kept asking me to go harder, begging me for another round and wanting my cum all over you..."
"I wonder what would the whole school say if I posted it online....especially Yeonjun."
Now you realized what his game was. He was never sorry. It was just another form of him to torture you, and this tipped the scale.
You were so shaken up, you got down on your knees and begged him not to show anyone the video.
"Please Wooyoung! I'll do anything! Anything!"
"Anything?......really? How about becoming mine then?"
And now you were forever tied to your worst nightmare.
Wooyoung especially enjoyed seeing Yeonjun's disappointed and heartbroken look when he announced that you two were now dating.
Now he couldn't even look at you anymore, feeling somewhat betrayed by your actions.
You wanted to tell him you were sorry and explain to him what was going on, but Wooyoung had eyes on you 24/7.
He even made you move in with him and now even your free time had to be spent with him.
You hated living with him.
He not only made sure to verbally abuse you, but actually seemed to have fun causing tiny accidents to happen around you.
His favorite was when he'd peer over your shoulder as you tried to study.
He scoffed. "Why even bother if all you'll ever be good at is spreading your legs?"
Those were his favorite insults: "whore" "slut" "bitch".
One time you were just so fed up with him, that you ended up snapping back.
"Shut the fuck up Wooyoung! You're such an insufferable piece of shit, no wonder your mom left you and your dad back in middle school."
As soon as the words came out, you wanted to swallow them back in.
Wooyoung was livid at your words.
He not only yanked you up by your hair, but he actually threw you to the floor and started kicking you harshly.
He didn't kick you for too long though, he did not want to risk anyone questioning when he told them you fell down the stairs.
And especially not take you to the hospital.
You had no choice but to stay home as you tried to recuperate.
You remember one of those days, you came home from a quick trip to the convenience store and found some girl blowing Wooyoung on the couch.
You weren't fazed. He often brought girls home and fucked them right in front of you.
You just sighed and decided to ignore the shit eating grin he'd give you whenever you caught him.
You decided long ago it wasn't worth it.
You two weren't even dating cause you wanted to.
He just loved controlling you, having power over you, holding something over your head.
He had this obsessive need to make you miserable.
And you hated that you had no choice but to allow it.
Even when there were things you didn't want to do, you had to or he'd once again blackmail you.
The one time you adamantly refused to was when you found out you were pregnant.
Wooyoung was just as shocked as you.
"And you're telling me I'm the father?"
"Uh......I can't have sex with anyone who isn't you, obviously you're the father."
Wooyoung couldn't let you go through with the pregnancy.
"Get rid of it." He told you.
You wrapped a protective hand around your bump.
"No! This is my baby and I won't allow you to harm it!"
You weren't going to budge though.
"Show the tape to everyone! I don't give a fuck anymore! But I'm not killing an innocent child who has done nothing wrong. "
Realizing he was losing control of you, Wooyoung knocked you out unconscious, deciding to take matters into your own hands.
You woke up a day later, feeling sore and aching in your inner thighs and lower abdomen.
You immediately panicked and sensed something was wrong.
You didn't need Wooyoung to tell you, you knew he had taken you to a clinic and had the baby removed.
You were so shaken up, cried your eyes out and no longer had any will to fight against Wooyoung.
You felt like it all all your fault, the death of your baby was your fault.
You weren't strong enough to save it and it was killing you inside.
You no longer trusted anyone, and you didn't have the heart to talk about it to anyone. Not like they'd believe you or care about you.
But someone did notice, Yeonjun never stopped caring about you and although he was hurt you went with someone else, he still had feelings for you.
And he was very observant and noticed that ever since you started dating Wooyoung, you were skipping a lot of classes....
And you were having a lot of accidents...too many in fact.
And now he just saw you completely lost and like a walking dead.
"Hey Y/N, are you ok?" He asked you one day.
You were going to respond, but the devil made an appearance by your side.
"She's fine and was just coming home with me. Weren't you baby?"
To everyone, it looked like a sweet and caring smile from your doting boyfriend, but you knew it was all fake.
Nonetheless you just kept your head low and went home with him.
Yeonjun noticed the way you trembled when he put his arm around you, noticed the frightened look in your eyes and he knew something was wrong in your relationship.
When you got home, Wooyoung was pissed off at you and immediately struck your face.
"I thought I told you not to talk to him! Can't you obey a simple order you fucking bitch?!"
When he pulled out a knife from the kitchen, you were now scared for your life.
You tried to fight back, but Wooyoung was stronger than you and you were still in pain after the abortion.
He knocked you to the floor and managed to land 2 stab wounds into your right side.
You could never forget the wrath and hate in his eyes as he told you:
"I'm going to fucking kill you."
By some miracle, someone taller and stronger than Wooyoung got him off you, that someone being none other than Yeonjun.
He felt glad about following his hunch and followed you both back home, otherwise he'd end up reading about you in the newspaper.
He had no trouble in subduing Wooyoung and calling the police.
The only thing on his mind was getting you to the hospital as soon as possible.
"It's ok Y/N. You're going to be fine." He assured you
Your physical injuries were easy to recover from, but the emotional trauma and abuse Wooyoung put you through was not.
Yet Yeonjun was there every step of the way, going with you to therapy and just listening to you and your terrifying story.
For the first time in your life, you felt truly loved and happy....
And safe.
A year after the ordeal, you were doing much better and were nearly fully recuperated.
Yeonjun and you rented a place together and were completely in love with each other.
Everything seemed to be going perfect....
And then one day your phone rang.
Picking up, you asked "Hello?"
"Don't think it's over yet you dirty little rat."

Julian Bashir Playlist Time!!
Apple Music playlist (if you're a heathen and subscribe to apple music like me) here
I know that there's plenty of people making playlists, but I really feel like this is an under-utilized brand of fan content. Instead of attempting to create a list of songs that Julian would listen to, or a playlist of songs which were all lyrically directly applicable (though there certainly some of those in here) regardless of genre, I tried to create something which captured, above all, his vibes instead, by choosing songs that balance at least somewhat relevant lyrical content with the energy or feel that I associate with the character. What it means matters, but not as much as how it makes you feel. That said, I signed up for apple music and read a TON of those overwrought iTunes store album review descriptions while I was making this, so I have a whole lot to say about all my choices here. In depth explanation of my symbolism and methodology behind each song under the keep reading. (I love tumblr. I want to write 1,000 words of analysis about why I picked songs to represent Julian Bashir and some of you are gonna read it. This is where I get to pretend to be one of those iTunes music writers. I feel joy.)
Good Morning - Two Door Cinema Club TDCC's Gameshow is high on my favorite albums of all time list for nebulous reasons I myself don't really understand. It was this album, though not this song (but one that will pop up later) that actually inspired me to make this playlist to begin with, as for some reason, from the color scheme of the album cover, to the overall vibe, to the ever-present references to illness, injury, surgery and healers in the lyrics, the whole thing feels inescapably Julian to me. And with an opening like I'm a sinner/I'm the victim/I'm an alien when I'm myself/I'm a healer/I'm a fixer/I'm a present danger to my health/I'm so strong/Doing what I'm supposed to do/ There's something wrong/With somebody like me, it's hard NOT to think about Julian when you hear this song, and I can't think of a better way to start this off.
Sweater Weather - The Neighbourhood I think there's a joke somewhere about bisexual people all liking Sweater Weather, and yeah, I resemble that remark. Sweater Weather is just good. You'll notice there's a sort of chill-indie-alt-electronic thing going here, and that is very much the vibe I'm sticking with. Sweater Weather slots in beautifully, both sonically and thematically. As the singer looks to warm and protect the person he's with from the cold, you can't help but feel a loving coziness coming off of this one. It always makes me feel cozy, at least, so it's here.
Gooey - Glass Animals I have nothing to analyze here because the artists themselves have said that the lyrics of this song have no meaning, they're just meant to capture a vibe, and capture it they do. Close your eyes and ride the vibes of this one. The energy is right, I love it, it belongs here.
Blue - Mika I could probably write a couple hundred words on Blue alone, in any context. This might be my beloved Mika's magnum Opus. Opening the song with the inherently counterintuitive lyric Blue is a feminine color, Mika manages to pack it ALL into this 3 minute song: questions about gender; concepts of sadness, joy, and their intersections; of the perception of melancholy as a flaw and loving people despite, or maybe because of, those "flaws" and anything else about them; a powerful first person reassurance that made me start weeping in my car the first time I heard it; just the phrase "why are humans cruel to you." And oh boy, ARE there questions of gender. Why is blue NOT considered a feminine color? Is that a good thing, a bad thing? In 3 minutes of artful poetry, Mika manages to wrap up sadness, love, joy, pain, the feminine that exists within the masculine and the masculine that exists within the feminine, in the simple color of blue and then, in one lyric, validates it all. And on a much simpler and more obvious note, this is in fact all a philosophic musing on the symbolic meaning of the color we see Julian wearing almost all the time (when he's not in uniform, almost all his civvies are also shades of blue.) I feel like this is one of those songs that's hard to analyze because it does what music and poetry does best - communicate something that cannot be communicated any other way. With these broad themes of loving others around the things they can't love about themselves, you can decide for yourself if this one is coming FROM Julian or directed AT him, either works. I find myself struggling for exactly the words to explain this one, but listen to it; you'll understand.
Little Dark Age - MGMT Another choice with no obvious lyrical relevance, but the tonal fit was just too good to pass up. The vibes pass.
The City - The 1975 This song is one of several present because it leans on medical symbolism to get its point across, though I would be lying if I said I fully understood what that point was. But the entire second verse, apparently about the song's subject suffering from some kind of illness and reassuring him that the next one's the M.D./You'll be feeling just fine, seems somehow to transmit the discomfort of illness directly to the listener. I don't know how or why, but the effectiveness of the empathy the second half of this song elicits, in me at least, puts it squarely in the "odd medical vibes" category.
Surgery - Two Door Cinema Club THIS is the song that inspired this whole playlist, mostly because of its title and general vibe. Another example (of many) of medical/anatomical references in this album (another of the songs is called Fever, etc), this song just feels like Julian to me.
The Other Side Of Paradise - Glass Animals I really like Glass Animals. That is probably becoming obvious. Aside from its delightfully cohesive vibes, this song opens with what's simultaneously the slyest and most brazen gay lyric I have heard on the radio recently, as the male singer says When I was young and stupid my love left to be a rock and roll star/HE told me... The song seems to be about a man whose male lover left him in pursuit of fame and fortune, and eventually ends up with a woman, leaving the singer behind. It's got simultaneously subtle and obvious gay themes, it's got confused love affairs, it's got so much bisexual energy. I cannot think of anything that could be more Julian.
Sit Next To Me - Foster The People Kind of like Sweater Weather, this whole song is built around a rather cute and sweet "sit next to me," and you can't help but feel a bit warm and cozy when you listen to it. I think it pairs with sweater weather well, and slides in with the rest of the picks very nicely.
Nothing Better - The Postal Service (the original band of the lead singer of Death Cab For Cutie) Another example of heavy surgical symbolism, the very first lyric of this song is Will someone please call a surgeon. This is actually a duet, and the singers speak of their real hearts to represent their emotional ones. Something about Your heart won't heal right if you keep tearing out the sutures always gets me and always will. And it vibes good. It vibes so, so good.
&Run - Sir Sly Sir Sly's &Run is my favorite song for driving too fast. It does an amazing job of musical onomatopoeia, talking about running while making you want to run. It's a song about running out of plans and running as far as you can instead, which is all very "I'm illegal by definition so I went to the farthest possible reaches of space." And like everything else here, it just feels good. It's also one of the only highlights here that I can actually see Julian listening to.
Cosmic Love - Florence and the Machine It's no coincidence that it seems like most of us who are invested in Julian Bashir are some flavor of genderqueer, be it trans, nonbinary, questioning, or something else entirely - the man's got a Gender with a capital G, and there's a whole lot going on in there. Between the words that were written for him on the page, and the words that were actually spoken, and the way he carries himself, Julian always seems caught between the white, western, and frequently toxic masculinity that the writers often seemed to want to imbue him with, and the very different, racially and culturally distinct masculinity Sid actually brought. But there's an undeniable element of the feminine in Julian too, at least by a traditional definition. The presence of this part of him at all, much less the fact that, in-universe, it's the more traditionally "feminine" parts of himself - the caregiving and nurturing aspects - that Julian seems proudest of or to like most about himself, is a large part of what makes his character so interesting, at least to me. So there was no way I was getting out of this without acknowledging that somehow, and I can't think of a better way to acknowledge a complicated relationship with the feminine side of one's own gender than with this world's own Celtic divine feminine, Florence Welch. I can't think of any better artist, at least that I know of, to represent femininity as a nonspecific ethereal goddess-concept. I basically spun the wheel of Florence here, as anything would have worked, but Cosmic Love felt very appropriate for a character who does in fact live in space. There could even be some Garashir in here, I think.
Dream Sweet In Sea Major - ミラクルミュージカル, or Miracle Musical, a sister act made up of members of Tally Hall I also couldn't leave off without acknowledging Julian's affection for classic lounge music, especially since it's the only thing about his taste in music that we actually know. But instead of tacking on some rat pack, instead I'm polishing this off with the incredibly chaotic and somehow also perfectly cohesive and calm Dream Sweet in Sea Major. It's got all of the vibes of a lounge singer but gone completely off the rails, which just seems perfect somehow. And it's also a very nice feeling to be left with, so it seems only right to put it at the end.
and if you've read all of this, I love you. Y'all didn't know I was this into music did you. but I am. oh boy. I AM.

I already made that point in the ask on a different blog but I dislike how they put Dream on pedestal and relate anything that happens with George to him. Jokes and more serious takes calling him covid warrior get me annoyed because it's the same person that allows his mom do groceries for him and didn't see any issues with Sapnap going to visit Karl, create irl content with him and other ccs and even make video with mr beast despite Sapnap apparently interacting with his mom and sister. It also surprises me how the fans push so much towards meet up when it's clear they are the ones that care the most about it. Don't get me wrong I do believe dream team wants to meet up however question directed at Dream if he would visit George in UK was meet with awkward silence and George had to answer for him that it means no. Clearly it's important but there is no feeling of urgency or even a maybe in there. Same with George, I feel like after experiencing irl content and hanging out more with ccs in UK he isn't in any real rush to get to the US when he knows neither Sapnap or Dream will be down to create that type of content which is fine but George seems to enjoy making it so losing advantage of meeting up with Wilbur, Tommy etc to create content might be something that he started to care more about. Wilbur also planned to move to US from what I remember so it's just a theory, not really serious but maybe George wants to move when Wilbur does so they both have someone to create irl content with? Sorry for rambling but this situation rubs me the wrong way in so many ways, hope you'll have a nice day!
(The following is a depiction of my own personal views containing fandom critical aspects which mostly dissolves into a general discussion. This isn't intended to speak on behalf of any DT members (S+G+D) in any sense or to insinuate how they feel regarding their following.)
In an effort to shorten the length of this, my thoughts on the "covid warrior" situation are in more detail here. In summary, It's not the best idea to hold a cc so high for the expected, eventually something will slip and the fall will be much greater than it deserves to be. As you mentioned, allowing quarantines to occur in his own home where other family members frequent doesn't fit the narrative created by some. No ones going to be perfect in a pandemic, yet we shouldn't act oblivious in favor of holding up this pristine image specifically crafted and implemented by fans.
Regarding the Dream association with George. I'll preface this with acknowledgement that getting the green light from the creators themselves to view their relationship romantically, will create a ripple effect of posts, clips, and overall more attention funneled to the cc's. However, I don't think the aim was to ever be overshadowed by the idea of themselves in a romantic sense. To be truly frank George is the one facing the brunt of this association. People think Dream and they imagine a high tier mc player, people think George and know him from being flirted with in tiktok clips. This link leaks into moments unintended to be related to one another, bringing up his name whenever George even interacts with other ccs? Expecting Dream to give George a slap on the wrist for attending a party? Unwarranted behavior. Dream is not responsible for George (or Sapnap) and vice versa. They are separate people responsible for their own actions.
-
The initial excitement at meeting each other was very clear in December/January due to both Karl+Quackity and Sapnap+Dream meeting up. Understandably over time the thrill at the thought began wearing off due to the shaky future presented by the pandemic (Yet I've no doubt they'll be glad to be together under one roof in the future). I think this was especially obvious during the puffy podcast in particular when Minx directed the question to Dream whether he would visit George now or wait another one and a half years before meeting him. Dream toyed with the question for a bit, confirming the timeframe before being pressured for an answer to which he responded he'd guess he'd go. It didn't exactly sound ecstatic and as you said it's not the first time the question has been dodged or answered with such emotion or lack thereof.
That being said, It's not surprising they don't want to get their hopes up considering the pandemic is too reliant on people to predict. However, I saw a lot of talk at the time concerning how sweet it was Dream said he'd go to London. It's down to personal perception but in all honesty the situation did not read that sweet to me. Although I understand the desire for a heartfelt sentiment declaring "Yes! Of course I'd go across the Atlantic for George!", this was not it. There is a tendency to romanticize and view subjects with a rose tint in this fandom but this instance was one of the more painfully obvious times.
A similar reaction occurred on Georges solo PkMn stream. Dream joined heavily insinuating him to end stream despite George explaining his plans to continue for a further hour. At a weak attempt at pleasing the fans Dream promised a dnf stream and within seconds the chat spammed "take the deal!". It felt very self exposing of chat, these joint streams are not uncommon but it had been five months since the previous solo stream. On top of that, some started claiming how whipped George was to leave steam when in reality there wasn't much of a choice presented. When watching a trailer to a game they might potentially play, commentating it with "what's happening" Dream responded "you're ending stream". Not everything is a "cute" moment (if anything looking back this was comical) and that's expected, but lets not act tone deaf when we bare witness to such.
Returning to your initial point regarding the meetup, Sapnap seems to be the one who carries the brightest torch for it publicly. During a GTA stream he excitably referenced the long awaited time in which he would collect George from the airport. George once expressed offhandedly how he thought S+D might not have room for him to which he joined the call expressing how they could do bunk beds together and reassured him they'd have space (although surely that was obvious from the beginning). Sapnap once posed the question to George where he'd take him if he showed up in London, asking if they'd go to Tesco. Even during the PkMn card unboxing stream (Karls), he told the camera George could have any of the cards he pulls and they'll be waiting for him in Florida. These were all such genuinely kind sentiments where you could tell he's been anticipating the meeting for a while yet, they've been talked about to a much lesser degree.
-
Regarding the content situation, there hasn't been a stream which consciously consisted of Sapnap and Dream together since the move in. Baring in mind Sapnap often disregards face-cam streams the odd joint stream could've occurred if they so wished. It's not apparent to a random viewer they live together, not to say that's a bad thing or that they needed to in any sense, but I feel like it's a good teller of how content will be once George moves in. Obviously Georgenap could do face cam streams together and I have no doubt that's what we'll get, which I can't complain about. Honestly it wouldn't be surprising if George and Wilbur do the plane journey over together. However, Wilbur has expressed his desire to travel America and as much as I'd enjoy Georgebur taking landmark after landmark, it seems more likely for George to travel on occasion to the states where Wilbur finds himself. Sadly indicating the real life vlogs with Gnf will regrettably be left in the UK.

I follow you on Twitter and am very impressed with your reading of the nuances within the show. I am very much in the Jack and Nikki team. I do like Harry but having seen all the episodes I went back to rewatch the Harry years and I have a few observations which are niggling at me. I didn't want to risk a huge barrage of hate. I find the potential Harry romantic storyline with Nikki very jarring now as some of his actions have me questioning his motivations. 1: His choices of dates are very often questionable (but then so we're a lot of Nikki's) and when Nikki always seemed to be more flirty and trying to create the moments between them Harry was quite cheeky and jokey but not really overtly romantic. 2: When she's knocked out and in hospital- Leo has to remind Harry to visit and when he does he asks questions send then runs off. Not much caring sympathy. 3: In Africa when Nikki gets held overnight, Harry is with the young girl, and when Leo mentions it, not much emotion (unlike Jack - screw that!!) 4: Harry leaving that Naomi Silverlake to look after Nikki she clearly isn't well and nobody connected to the case should be even anywhere near , Jack is almost too overprotective of her especially anyone getting close to Nikki. 5: And lastly, he just leaves! When Harry is thought to be dead Nikki comes running and is distraught but still Harry does things on his own. When it's Nikki in Mexico Jack is nearly always with her... Anyway these are my mad ramblings. Perhaps I am too biased for Jack and comparing them is wrong as they were younger then etc. I would love to hear what you think and totally don't mind if you tell me i'm wrong of off whack. I needed to get it out my brain.
Thanks for listening.
OMG I love it when people send me stuff like this and honestly I GET IT!! I really, really do, going back to watch it again I am giving Harry more of a chance than I would usually (because I am open to having my mind changed) and I am giving Harry/Nikki as a ship a chance. Because I do see why people ship them, they are cute. I enjoy the flirty banter and I do think they reached a point where they fell in love with each other, but, realistically, they wouldn’t have worked if they got together.
I’ll just address your points as such, 1. YES!! I also find it interesting that Harry very rarely goes for blondes, they tend to be brunettes (unlike Jack who’s romantic interests are often blonde exc. Chrissie - who was used intentionally to oppose Nikki - and Silva - who too was used to oppose Nikki and show Jack going for someone who is her opposite because if he didn’t want to be reminded of her and how he has hurt her).
2. From what I remember that episode, it’s mainly Leo by her bedside, right? I’m sure Harry occupies much of his time, whilst she’s in hospital, with the other female doctor that Nikki had been investigating. Which was always odd to me, surely your priority would be your friend who’s panicking because she can’t remember things? (I will keep this in mind for when I rewatch the ep tho!!)
3. All I remember from that episode was Leo being the one to get Nikki out of prison whilst Harry was/was not shagging that girl so honestly you’re spot on there (and that happens a lot tbh, if there’s chaos and someone’s in danger, Harry is gonna be shagging someone).
4. AH A Guilty Mind is an episode I always think about when it comes to Harry/Nikki because it always stands out to me. Especially with the scene you’ve addressed because Harry could’ve easily bailed on the meeting with Leo and the detectives, he could’ve easily phoned and said “Nikki’s not well, I’m worried and I don’t want to leave her on her own,” and I’m 100% sure Leo would’ve been fine with that. But, like you say, he leaves her with someone he shouldn’t have left her with and that always grips my shit.
5. You’re not on your own for getting annoyed at Harry leaving her when she finally sees him again after thinking he was dead. He had his reasons and I get that, but he could’ve stayed longer, even if it was just to reassure her.
My overall opinion, at the moment, for Harry/Nikki is that they were cute and in love (eventually) but they weren’t a slow burn or a will they, won’t they. They rushed a kiss between them and that, unfortunately, set them up to fail. They’re not a will they, won’t they because they did and it didn’t work. I always think Nikki was more in love with Harry than Harry was with her. And it’s that point of, there was nothing stopping them. There was nothing in their way of being together.
At least with Jack and Nikki, Matt got between them the moment they realised how deeply they felt about each other. But Harry and Nikki had so many opportunities to be together and they never took them and then you have to ask why? Why didn’t they? Because that kiss happened too soon, because their love for each other changed. They went from being in love to just loving each other as brother would love a sister. I don’t know, I know I won’t/don’t overly ship them but I do see why people do. I just think, for me personally, they had their chance and they didn’t take it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ But know you’re not alone in your opinions!! And I love hearing them <3

Seize the Night
Meral x Aydın
MenajerimiAra
"I want movement, not a calm course of existence. I want excitement and danger and the chance to sacrifice myself for my love. I feel in myself a superabundance of energy which finds no outlet in our quiet life."
-Leo Tolstoy
* * *
Her thumb hovered over the number, only to be used in case of an emergency.
Well, this qualified as an emergency in her opinion. Dicle had not responded to her texts for an hour about whether she had reached Barış or not, and worry was clawing at Meral's insides. She decided to call.
'Merhaba. Aydın? This is Meral.....Dicle's housemate."
A low chuckle sounded at the other end. "Merhaba. Yes, this is Aydın, Barış's brother."
"I know who you are."
"And I know who you are."
She rolled her eyes. " Harika. I was just calling to ask if Dicle texted you or......" she trailed off, suddenly realising how awkward this was. Damn it. She was never anything less than sensible.
"Not since I texted her the address. Is there any problem?"
"Yok. Yok. I just worried since it's quite late and the neighbourhood.....well they must be talking and she forgot."
"Hmm. Yes. Talking. Probably."
She had the feeling he was laughing at her and bristled. " Well, thankyou. Sorry to bother you. Iyi geceler."
                      *     *     *
He could imagine her derisive look, the one he had seen her wearing when talking about Beren. The idea of her rolling her eyes sparked something in him and made him want to snatch the opportunity.
"Wait-"
"Yes?"
"Um....." he did not know what to say, and he was sorely out of practice with conversing about anything other than work. "Your concern for Dicle is very touching," he finished lamely.
There was silence on the other end and he could not really blame her.
"Well...thankyou I think? I hope Barış feels better and comes back soon," she sounded sincere in her goodwill and it warmed his heart, as anything related to Barış always did.
"Yes, InşAllah. I met him today, he's doing better now."
"Good to hear..."
"I was wondering, if you wanted to meet up and discuss? Barış and Dicle, yani. Or general things. Actually more of general things. Since, New Year's was fun and...."
Silence again. He was just about to make sure the call had not dropped, when she spoke, "That sounds great. Where do you want to meet?"
His heart gave an excited thump." Wherever you want."
"Oh, I have a great idea," he heard the smile in her voice that already had him looking forward to tomorrow with a new excitement.
                      *     *     *
Her favourite restaurant was roaring with white noise, the air perfumed with spices. Her mouth was watering and she was already anticipating the pleasure the meal would bring to sate her growling stomach. Even her great love of food was not enough to occupy her thoughts entirely, though.
She was nervous and excited; wondering if they would still have the connection she felt at the New Year's party. It was hard to determine what he felt from the few glances they managed to exchange at parties. Her imagined conversations, however, kept being interrupted by the couple arguing right behind her booth.
She sighed. She was just about to turn around and jump in their quarrel, when he arrived.
Meral had convinced herself that her years of romance and dizi infatution had embellished her memory of him. She had taken extra care dressing up, all the while telling herself she was being silly. Neyse, what had all the effort on that doomed Singles Party been for? Only a single glance?
She did not need to worry or dress up, she reassured herself. It was just a pair of acquaintances meeting. It could be fun even.
The reality of him exceeded her memory. He was snug in a crimson sweater, bold and festive; his hair and face shining from the outside cold. He looked brooding in a dangerous sort of way and she was suddenly glad she had gone to the extra effort.
But then he smiled and Meral was forced to consider that smiles always won over broody pouts.
"Hoş Geldin!"
"Hoş Bulduk. Pardon, did I keep you waiting? You seemed to be frustrated when I came in."
"Ha! That wasn't you." She leaned forward and lowered her voice- motioning to the booth behind her- and he did the same." I was about to join in their fascinating discussion about stocks and resolve the issue for them. As an unbiased third party."
"Ofcourse, because you are an accountancy expert."
"No, because I'm incurably nosy."
He barked a surprised laugh at her.
"Do you often get involved in things that are none of your business?" he said, trying to match her tone.
"Unfortunately, no. That's Dicle. I always gather information but only get in fights that are my business. And I win." She sent a quick prayer of thanks for the loud couple for kickstarting their conversation.
"Öyle mı?"
"Aynen."
"Speaking of Dicle, how is Kiraç Bey doing?"
"Much better!"
"Good to hear. Geçmiş olsun."
"Sağ ol."
She was just thinking they were in danger of lapsing into an awkward pause, when the waiter arrived to save them from it.
"Hoş Geldin. Meral Hanım, the usual?"
"Yes, please!"
"You come here often? I'll have what the lady is having then," Aydın said, closing the menu.
"Yes, I love this place. It's so close to our home too," she continued after the waiter had left. "You're sitting in our special booth, actually."
"Whose?"
"Dicle and mine. We always sit in the same place everytime so the staff practically has it reserved for us."
He smiled but then a teasing glint came into his eyes, "Same place, same order. You don't like new possibilities?"
She could not believe he had hit close to her vulnerable spot so quickly. Half of her wanted to welcome the exploration, delighting in someone trying to know her. The other half, the dominant, ever-sensible one wanted to retreat.
"I do. But there's comfort in familiarity. Honestly? I've realised I would thrive in a communist setting."
Aydın laughed, spluttering, the glass of water raised midway." You say the oddest things."
The pleasure of making him laugh made her glow and she relaxed. "If I have too many choices, it’s my fault if I make the wrong one. But if decisions have been made for me? Not only can I complain to my heart's content, but I also feel like I have triumphed against great odds in the struggle to become the independent woman that I am."
“You see odds in everything? I see now why you chose this job." He was regarding her with respect and curiosity. The combination made her feel heady, wanting to let her guard down.
"Why?"
"You get to calculate odds and meddle with everyone's business on a professional basis.”
It was her turn to laugh in surprise.
                       *     *     *
As they ate, they talked about everything from history, to food to dizis, the conversation darting in different directions. Meral could see his quiet intelligence, his attention to detail. She could not remember simply enjoying talking this much before. He had a ready response to everything. Words and laughter were bubbling inside her.
"I better warn Barış. You've watched too many serial killer movies and would leave no trace."
"You can relax. He's not on my hit list yet."
At his devious smile, she pointed at him with her fork. "For now. He's on my good side for now."
"Don't worry, he's a true romantic. He would never do anything that would get him on your hit list."
Her face softened into a smile, "He really his."
"You know, sometimes I feel like I'm their Teyze."
"Barış and Dicle? From a hitman to a teyze?" he grinned at her.
"Yes.Yani, I cook and clean, which I love to anyway. But then being the unwanted third wheel living in her children's house, I leave quietly once I know he's coming over."
"Oh well, I'm the teyze in our house then. You know when- " he stopped at her burst of laughter. "What?"
"I'm sorry- I just-" she said between gasps, "imagining you as a cranky teyze is- actually that's a pretty good description."
"Oh, you think so? As I was saying," he said in mock affrontery, "after Barış got shot, he was trying desperately to be alone with Dicle. But-'
He was laughing so hard he could barely get the words out and she joined in aswell.
He gathered himself and began again," But every single person we know other than Dicle was appearing at our doorstep. And, you remember, Celal Bey? He brought a mountain of food over. And then when Dicle was finally coming over, what did Barış do? Beyeffendi handed me a couple of boxes and told me to disappear."
"How cruel."
Their laughter gradually faded into comfortable smiles. "That man eats like every meal is his last meal," Meral said.
"Evet, but who does not enjoy food though?" he said with a pointed look towards her just to see her reaction and earned an olive in his face for the jab.
"Ow! How do you know how Celal Bey eats anyway?"
"I saw him. At the TV dinner? In the restaurant you recommended?"
"What?"
Her subconcious writer, which had been busy penning their story, suddenly deflated at him not even remembering their first meeting. What hope did a romance have when one party did not even remember the meet-cute? And since when was she considering this a date? Or a romance?
She shook her head and focused back to the present. His expression was serious now, devoid of all the teasing warmth.
"Yes, I remember. I'm sorry you had to see me that way. That wasn't my best behaviour."
He gazed out the window. Meral was dying to know more, to smooth over the lull in the conversation but afraid of saying the wrong thing.
Finally he met her gaze, having made a decision. "I've always been practical all my life. Had to be. Barış and my father are quite hot tempered and.....impulsive, so I was mostly making the money, holding down the jobs. Keeping the job and the peace. I don't apologise for doing what had to be done."
"Tabi canım, you don't have to explain to me. Pragmatic is my middle name." she agreed easily, yet touched that he had shared some small part of himself.
'To doing what needs to be done," she raised her çay in a toast. He smiled and some of the light heartedness returned.
"I understand that life is more than making money and looking attractive. I know I pressured Barış- even got into a fight with Dicle," he glanced at her embarrassed.
"Growing up, our mahalle just reinforced that a happy life is the type of life that photographs well. I know this isn’t true- now- but it’s hard not to think this way. I’ve internalized it."
"I know." Her voice was soft and sincere, easing some of his discomfort. "That's what our lives have become these days. If only we remember to live the moments that we love to photograph."
"Evet. How right you are."
"And this isn't off the back of some truck. This is my own wisdom." She was grateful to see him smile again.
"Gathered during hours of repetitive work. I sit in that room each day, half my mind on the numbers, half in my infinitely more adventurous world."
"You call that repetitive?! I would love that! The assurity of routine."
He sat back with a sigh. "I had so many jobs, never knowing when one would end. Mesela, my current job with Serkan Bey? I finally know some part of what each day brings."
"But don't you miss the excitement of new things?"
"I guess I would thrive in a communist setting too, Meral Hanım. But this sector already has so many new weird things happening everyday, it's never the same."
"Oh you're a veteran of 'this sector' now?"
"Absolutely. Ha! But truly I.....feel like I belong? Actually, Serkan helped me in a difficult situation and I ended up here. I realised I actually enjoy it. I find I have a talent for organising. And persuading and cajoling. Although, if you listen to the whims of all these people! You come across some complete- well I shouldn't say but- Even more than what I met as a taxi driver. I-"
He stopped and seemed to gather himself. "Just glad I have security. The comfort of certainty."
Meral was fascinated hearing him talk, his eyes lit with keen intelligence. She wished she could revel in the comfort he described, but lately she felt stuck in a rut. She had told him she did not like choices but that was not true. She yearned to take chances. Her life had become a collection of the same days, same nights out with the same people. This evening was the only thing breaking the endless monotony.
"I bet you have great stories to tell though. I love listening to stories. We get absolute weirdos at our place aswell but it's ultimately boring. I live vicariously through Dicle."
"I think we should stop talking about them as if we're the side characters."
"Yani?"
"Yani novel falan filan. We keep talking about Barış and Dicle. We should focus on us a little, I think."
His voice had dropped at the end, his eyes on her felt like a caress. Meral could feel something tugging at her to explore this new territory, to take the chance she kept telling others to. But, imagining something in your head was vastly different than having that play out in real life. She fell back on her customary sarcasm.
"Ah, novels. I see I've already corrupted your practicality. 50 points to Ravenclaw."
He had been giving her a lazy smile but groaned at her words. "You're both 'Potterheads'?"
"I thought we weren't talking about them."
"We won't. Because I don't know where to even begin about this. We watched the movies when we were younger, but apparently that's not enough and Barış has been trying to get into 'the fandom'." His voice was a mix of exasperation and affection.
She cried out in mock outrage trying to hide her glee, "Did you just air quote again? And ofcourse that is not enough. I'm glad he is on the right path."
'Neyse. And before you say anything, yes, I know I'm a Slytherin.'
'Oh absolutely," she laughed at his disgruntled form languishing in the booth.
'Ee?'
She raised an enquiring eyebrow.
"So how did you get into the wonders of accounting. I've been spilling all my secrets to you and you give nothing away. Hadi, don't make me take out my truth potion."
"Tsk, tsk. Banning magical discourse and then indulging in it yourself? Shameless."
His quick smile seemed to seep into her.
"Lütfen ya, give me something here. You mentioned you shifted to Istanbul?"
"Yes I did. But that is a story for another day. It's getting late. I think the owner might be coming to personally throw us out."
Her humour just kept surprising him anew; he could not remember when he had last laughed so much.
                       *     *     *
As they walked back to her house, he noticed her slowing slightly. "Are you tired?"
"Biraz. My soul wants to party but my body is of an old woman."
"And what do old women like doing at night?" he cringed at how it sounded.
"Well it's winter so, we drink hot chocolate wrapped in blankets, and avoid people."
"Well people are sources of warmth aswell." Damn. There she was, throwing out words in bright clusters all night, like the gentle snow falling around them.
And everything he said was coming out like an innuendo.
"I mean, figurative warmth. The pleasure of company."
She just raised her eyebrows and hid a smile behind her hand.
"We revel in solitude."
"I didn't know you were that eager to get away from me."
"Oh, you have no idea."
"I think I have some idea." There was something about her, that just made him fall into this teasing, snappy rhythm.
"But we've only met twice. That's not enough data points to form an accurate picture."
"We have met more than twice. And you're doing this on purpose aren't you?"
"What?"
"Mentioning data points now that I've confessed my love for organisation."
Her laughter rang out in the hushed street.
The snow was falling around them gently, giving everything a glittering glow. Her impish face was turned upto his, the snowflakes in her hair like diamonds and dissolving on her lips.
He had the sudden urge to taste that snowflake, run his tongue along the seam of her lips.
Something inside him held him back. He was afraid it was too soon. Afraid to burst this, whatever magic they had between them, just as it was beginning.
Meral could see the moment he decided to forego kissing, the fire in his eyes cooling as they returned to their normal lazy depths. Keen disappointnent burned inside her but was chased away by the still buzzing energy that had been between them all evening.
This evening had already proved to be much more than her normal. An outlier. She wanted to capture the bright feeling, like a firefly; bask in the light for a brief moment and then let go.
"Thankyou. It was..." Unique. Comfortable. Thlrilling, all at once. "Fun. I enjoyed spending time with you."
Surprisingly, her shyness made him bolder. "Me too. I would love to do this again." She looked up. "If you want to, I mean."
"I wasn't angling for an invitation."
"I know. But it stands regardless. I would love to do this again." He could not believe he had managed to get that out without tripping over his words.
The tentative smile on her face made him add, " I must prove I'm the ultimate teyze between us. I'll cook for you."
"Şaka?!" she gave a delighted laugh. "Well then, let the Battle of the Teyzes commence."
When he took her proffered hand, their was a slight shock, as if their bodies were completing the circuit, that energy finally finding a closed loop.
"O zaman, iyi olan kazansın," he said softly.
"Iyi olan kazansın."
"Iyi geceler. Meral." he said, finally breaking the handshake.
"Iyi geceler." She went in and turned at the doorstep. "Aydin."
His name on her lips, materialising in the cold air for a second.
He smiled that slow smile again. An outlier. An input that could start new trends, open new possibilities, change everything.

I hope you like it. Enjoy!
Tumblr media
It's official, you hate summer. Sure.. school's out, no more chasing after professors or migraines lasting for weeks. But goddamn it it's hot and humid. It's like trying to breathe in a sauna, which you hate. Plus, the sun is like a deadly laser. Normally you love strolling through this street. Glancing at cute little stores and admiring street artists as you walk by. Not today, though. Not while feeling like all the water in your body is gonna evaporate any second.
You notice a little crowd up ahead, a half circle. And the sound of a groovy beat captures your attention. You might've stopped and joined the crowd just for the captivating music, if it wasn't for the torturous heat. In this instance you'll settle for only a glance at whatever show is going on inside that half circle.
That's until you see the street dancer there and you stop dead in your tracks. Someone is crazy enough to dance in this heat. Someone manages to look like the greatest performer alive despite the sweat covering his body and the fact that he's probably about to pass out. That someone is Jung Hoseok.
Before you can do anything else, you realize just how much better he’s become. And he was already an amazing dancer the last time you saw him. Back in high school, that is. Hobi the bubbly, cheerful dancer that dominated talent shows every year. Hobi who you occasionally helped pass chemistry. Hobi who could actually also sing, a fact only you knew about him of all the kids at your school. Because you’d spend most of your time in the music room, usually all by yourself. But one time, you caught him sitting alone and singing in there and after that, he’d visit you every so often. In return, he was the only one that knew you composed songs.
It’s been three years since graduation and your last conversation with him. But right now, he’s standing right in front of you. No, he’s dancing. The music ends in time with his final move and the mini crowd goes wild. As he catches his breath, most people leave money in his hat on the floor. You hope they’re being generous. Rightfully so, that was one hell of a performance.
You contemplate on whether you should say hi or not. The introvert in you decides you shouldn’t but before you can turn around to leave, you make eye contact with Hoseok.
“Y/N?” he asks.
“Hey, Hoseok.”
And he smiles. Despite how exhausted he must be, he gives you a whole cheekbones lifted, classic Hobi smile.
“You were amazing. But how did you not faint dancing in a weather like this?” you ask, smiling back.
“Come to think of it, I do feel like blacking out.” he says in between his panting.
You panic and go closer to him quickly. “I can take you to the hospital-”
“I’m kidding, Y/N.”
Did you maybe miss his mischevous ass? You both giggle.
“How about taking me to an icecream shop to catch up, instead? It’s been so freaking long. If you don’t have any plans, I mean.”
Your plan is going home, opening the refrigerator door and standing in front of it. So they’re skippable for an old friend.
“Let’s go before you deteriorate.”
You take him to the closest icecream shop you know and the shop has great air conditioning, thank god. Hoseok sits down and you feel as though he won’t be able to get up and order. Despite the smiley and bright facade of his, his body seems to be worn out. So, you take the liberty to order for both of you.
As you wait in line, order and wait for them to prepare it, you think about what you wanna say to Hoseok. Regardless of how much time has passed, you notice how you still get a little nervous with him around. It used to be like that in high school, too. You could never really look him in the eyes while he was speaking with you. You wouldn’t be intimidated. You’d just be kinda.. overwhelmed.
You take the cups and make your way to the table. Hoseok’s eyes light up, he seems content with your choice. He also looks better now, the cool air of the shop must’ve helped.
“What’re the odds of us meeting like this? Just on the street?” he initiates conversation.
“Well, I’m not exactly surprised to find Hope on the streets.”
“You remember my stage name?” He looks geniunely surprised.
“How can I possibly forget crowds of people going crazy, cheering J-hooope?”
That makes him shy, you think. With him averting his eyes to the ground. You’d hear those cheers often, back then. Hoseok was known as ‘J-hope’ and his act ‘Hope on the street’ was very popular. Everyone in Gwangju High would come to watch him perform, including you. It really is a bit strange how you ran into each other randomly on a street in Seoul, you think. You both had dreams of moving to Seoul as teenagers and had told each other about it. But neither of you knew if the other actually made it there. Until now.
"Did you move here right after graduation? I remember you talking about wanting to persue music here at University of Seoul." he says with his eyes on his icecream. He remembers your dream.
"Yeah, I had to get out of there. I moved here even before knowing if the university had accepted me. Thankfully, I got in. What about you? When did you come here?"
After he takes a spoon of the good stuff, he takes his eyes off from his cup and connects them with yours. It happens so suddenly that you almost blush. You're able to hold it in, though. Barely.
"I kinda wanted to wait until my work at the dance academy was done. So, after two more years at Gwangju, I finally transferred here, to National University of Arts just at the beginning of this semester."
You're glad to see him not giving up on dancing because he's so talented for it that it isn't like anything you've seen before or after you've known him. When he dances, it's like whatever music he's moving to actually finds form in him. And when he's not dancing, the way he moves around, walks, talks still somehow appears artistic.
But then, you realize you've been staring at him, lost in your train of thoughts. And he must've noticed because one corner of his mouth curves upwards a little, forming an almost smirk. This time, you can't stop your cheeks from turning red. Fuck.. What's wrong with you? It's been years since you've even seen his face. Why the hell did you just turn into a teenager, all over again?
"How's music school? Did you drop any albums I'm missing out on?" He asks and his eyes go back to his icecream. You can breathe normally again.
"I think school is always a pain in the ass. Even if it's about music." is your reply. You both laugh.
"I couldn't agree more."
Normally you have a hard time talking about yourself with others. But when it comes to Hoseok, it's different. Because that kinda used to be your relationship back in the days. Talking to each other about stuff you wouldn't with others.
"I've been working in a studio a friend of mine opened and we're working on some stuff but.. I can't seem to finish anything I start so, no. I haven't really been productive." you add with a frown. There're lots of things you don't like about yourself and being a procrastinator is one of them.
Then, a hand is placed lightly on yours that was resting on the table. It's Hoseok, holding your hand and looking at you warmly. "Nah, I'm still pretty sure we're gonna hear your stuff on the radio, soon." He looks like he geniunely believes that. All you can do is smile back in appreciation.
Time goes by as you talk about all kinds of stuff. You learn he lives at the student dorm but he's not exactly happy about it and wants to find a new place to stay. Also that he's giving dance lessons to earn some extra cash. You tell him about Yoongi, that friend of yours who owns a studio and how he's looking for someone to move in, after his flatmate moved away. You promise to have the two meet each other and see if they can become roomates.
Hoseok suggests to exchange numbers but it turns out both of you haven't changed them since high school, so you both have the other in your contacts. And you say goodbye shortly after, agreeing on hanging out again, soon.
By the time you get home, it's already evening and you're a little hesitant to open up the door and greet your roommate, Namjoon. Because you promised him that you'd watch that philosophical movie you can't remember the name of together. But you were supposed to do that about two hours ago. You decide to just go in and explain how you ran into an old friend and got held up. Namjoon'll understand, right? You go inside but see that nobody's home, so you call him.
"What's up ditcher?" is how he answers the phone and you can't blame him, really.
"I'm so sorry Joon. I wanna make it up to you but.. where are you, exactly?"
"Yoongi's."
"Okay, don't move." You hang up the phone and go straight into the apartment across the hall from yours. Yoongi has already opened the door before you can knock. You make for the living room and spot your roommate there. Just as you're about to explain, you also spot credits rolling on the tv screen and finished popcorn bowls.
"Wow, you watched Waking Day without me?" you complain. And Namjoon is quick to respond.
"It's Waking Life and yes, since you were a no-show."
"But you didn't even leave me popcorn."
"What're you saying? There's some left right here." Yoongi is the one who hands you one of the bowls.
"There are literally only three kernels here."
"Well, that's what ditchers get." Yoongi is just as merciless as Namjoon.
"But what if something happened to me on my way back-" you try the approach of pulling on their heartstrings but both of them whip their necks back and look at you in extreme worry, so you decide not to mess around. "Okay, okay. I encountered an old friend and lost track of time catching up. But maybe we can watch another movie and I'll make the popcorn, huh?" You wear a guilty grin on your face.
"Nope. You should take a seat and tell me about this friend that made you ditch me."
You sit down in between the guys on the couch, but you're facing Namjoon and telling him about Hoseok. Yoongi only sees your back and he's just so done with you, as always.
"You guys have a house exactly symmetrical to mine across the hall. Why the hell are you always here? I know it's not to see me, you're not even looking at me." It's a mix between ranting and whining. Both you and Namjoon know he's doing it to get attention.
"Because your couch is comfier." says Namjoon.
"And you have a piano." you add.
"You have a keyboard!"
"My keyboard is no upright piano."
Yoongi gives up with a huff. But you attack him with tickles until he gives in and giggles, all the while trying to get rid of your hands.
"By the way Yoongs, you're still looking for a roommate, right?"
"Yeah, why?"
"The friend of mine from Gwangju I was catching up with, Hoseok, is looking for a new place. I want to introduce you guys."
"Sure. What can you tell me about him?"
You pause because there're lots of things you can say about him. But those are all about the high school Hoseok. You wonder how many of them changed and how many stayed the same. You're sure of some things, though.
"I can tell you that he's a great guy and a dedicated artist, a dancer. Also he's funny and a mood maker."
"Alright. You should bring him over."
"Great! I will."
Tumblr media
You wake up to your phone buzzing repeatedly. First thing you do is check the time and your clock on the wall is striking 11:30 in the morning. You overslept, great. It makes sense after you convinced Namjoon to binge watch Death Note before going to bed. But you ended up sleeping on the couch. The fact that you're in your bed right now means Namjoon carried you there.
3 unread messages from Hoseok.
-Morning, Y/N.
-Are you free today?
-I wanna treat you to some coffee.
It's been three to four days since the time you ran into Hoseok and you've been meaning to reach out to him to hang out but he just beat you to it. You thank the god for his extrovertedness.
-I'm taking care of some stuff in the studio today.
-But you can visit me there and if I'm finished quickly we can even hang out later, too.
-If you'd like, of course.
You press send and for some stupid reason your heart races a little fast. Were you being too forward? He just said coffee, maybe he meant a quick get together. You just asked him to wait for you in a studio, possibly for a couple of hours.
Two more buzzing.
-Sure! I'll make sure to help out so you can finish faster.
-Text me the time and the adress when you can.
You sigh in relief. But now it's time to be nervous about how you'll be alone with him there for a long while. Not that it makes you uncomfortable. You just feel that overwhelming feeling of him being around returning. You hope to at least not act like an idiot.
You make your way to the studio and text Hoseok the location, saying he could drop by whenever he'd like. Yoongi told you to listen to some demos for him but you leave that for last. For now, you're setting up some instruments and tuning them up for the band arranged to record tomorrow. But the bell rings and you sprint to answer the door.
"Hi!" you greet him.
"Hey." Hoseok says with a bright smile. He holds up the bags in his hands. "I brought food and icelattes."
"Which makes you a hero. Come in."
You eat and drink your coffees as you talk about stuff. Then, you play a recording of a guy who did an awful cover of Smelly Cat a few days ago. It makes Hoseok laugh so hard that he tumbles out of his seat and falls towards you. You knew it was a habit of his but you had never been the person he falls over to, before.
He helps you get the rest of the things done after that and surely him giving you a hand speeds up the process. For the last thing, you call him over to listen to the demos.
"Wow, some of these are really good. Especially this one, I like the beat a lot."
"Yeap, me too. I'm showing this one to Yoongi, later."
Finished up with the things, you're getting ready to leave but you hear him beatboxing the beat he liked a while ago.
"You can beatbox?"
"Yeah, I picked it up not so long ago."
An idea pops into your mind. You take him by the arm, practically drag him back to the recording booth and hand him a mic.
"Get a beat going."
"Wha-"
"Just do it." And you run back to record him doing it. After that, you throw in some other instruments quickly. When you play the outcome, he smiles so hard.
"How did you just do that in such a short time, coming up with practically a song."
"You did it, too. You came up with a beat off the top of your head. That's the basis of songs, mostly."
He listens to it over and over. "Hey can I use this for when I do freestyle battles?"
"To dance over to? Sure! I'll work on it some more, though and perfect it."
He shys away a little. "Well, this would make a great dance track but.. I meant freestyle rap battles."
"You rap, too? Geez, is there any street art you're not talented in?" You're not that surprised, though. He always stroke you as swag in living form.
"I'm trying to get into it. I should improve if I wanna make a name for myself out on the streets of Seoul." he says half jokingly but it's true that the rap scene has become a major part of street competition, recently. You know from Yoongi and Namjoon who are also rappers.
You play the beat from the top. "C'mon, then. Let me hear a snippet."
"No, no I'm not really-"
"C'mon~ let's battle." you say to get him worked up a bit. Also, you picked up a few things from Yoongi and Namjoon over the last couple of years.
"Oh battle? Okay then, why don't you go first?"
Both of you try to control your laughter and you come up with some very stupid and childlike rhymes that make Hoseok laugh even harder.
"It's your turn, J-hope."
"Ooo~" he gets more fired up with the mention of his stage name. You're going back and forth rapping about the most random and funny stuff. But then you get bolder and want to go at him a bit, to get him more serious about this. Trying to remember embarrassing things he's done in high school, you throw in lines about the time he had to dance in his underpants in front of the whole school after losing a bet.
Also, there's this face you pull whenever you try to diss someone, something you picked up from Yoongi. But it looks funny on you and the boys always make fun of you about it. You're sure you're doing it right now, too out of habit. And you're not wrong because as soon as you're done, Hoseok starts and he mentions it.
Except, he says something along the lines of despite of you having that expression, he still doesn't feel like you're dissing him because of how beautiful you look even while pulling a funny face.
What? Did he just call you beautiful? In a rap battle?
You're in shock and aren't able to speak for a while. Which Hoseok takes advantage of. "You failed to come up with something in time, Y/N. I win." Then he boops your nose. He fucking boops your nose. What did you get yourself into?
Tumblr media
It's the day you finally bring Hoseok to meet with Yoongi. It's been a couple of weeks since you guys started hanging out kinda on a regular basis and Yoongi finally had some free time. The three of you are sitting in Yoongi's living room and you're watcing them get to know each other. Everything seems to go well. The door opens and Namjoon walks in.
"Yo. Sorry I'm late."
"It's okay since you live far away. Oh wait, you live across the hall." Yoongi is quick to welcome him.
"At least I brought dessert."
The two boys go into the kitchen to get dessert ready to be served.
"That's my roomate Namjoon. He wanted to meet you, too." you inform Hoseok.
"Roommate? Wait- you live just next door?"
"Yeah."
"Why didn't you tell me sooner? I'd beg to Yoongi or something to get him to accept me!" he says with a smile. You're glad he's happy about the fact you might live next to each other.
"I think he already likes you. I'm pretty sure you got the room."
And you turn out to be right. Hoseok and Yoongi hit it off quickly and he moves in a couple of days later. You start spending even more time together since then. Both with the other boys around and just you two, alone.
This one time Yoongi gives you the day off, Namjoon is off to do a job interview and you've got absolutely nothing to do. So you go over to see Hoseok. You knock and ring the bell but loud music is coming from inside and he doesn't hear you. The door isn't locked, though and you just go in. When you get to the living room you see Hoseok practising, going really hard at it. There're sweatdrops on his face and his white shirt-now practically see through shirt-is stuck to his body, revealing the delicate structure of it.
Blood rushes to your cheeks and your heart is thumping but you can't look away. He's art, you think. Art that you can't get enough of. He finally notices you, which almost gives you a heart attack but thankfully he isn't uncomfortable with you being there.
"Hey- uh- phew." he tries to talk but needs a moment to catch his breath, first. "Y/N. Please tell me you've been standing there long enough that you saw my new moves."
You nod, still not completely out of your daze. "They were.." you trail off because he just casually takes his shirt off in front of you. "Can you pass me that?" he asks you to hand him over the towel on the chair next to you. You're on autopilot as you do so.
"So, what do you think?"
"Oh yeah- Umm.. it was awesome. Very captivating.."
"Thanks." he smiles brightly while walking closer to you. "I'm gonna take a quick shower. You wanna hang out, after?"
Right. That's why you came over, you remember. "Yeah, I'll be here."
Hoseok and you just hang inside all day. Not doing much but still managing to have fun. Yoongi comes home for a while but has to go back out again, so it's mostly just you two. In the middle of the night, you guys start watching a movie, planning to stay awake till morning but Hoseok's tired from practising earlier and dozes off, eventually. And you're famous for sleeping in front of the tv, so you quickly follow. Then, you two somehow get in a cuddly position in your sleep.
The next morning- or more like afternoon, you wake up to Yoongi slurping his coffee, seated right across from you. Hoseok's nowhere to be seen.
"Hey Yoongs, why am I still here?"
"Well, you obviously fell asleep in front of the tv again and Namjoon's strong arms weren't here to carry you to bed."
"Where is he?"
"Joon said he was staying at a friend last night, not wanting to get all soaked up in the rain. And Hobi woke up just moments ago and went out, saying he has to get ready for a gig."
You nod at him and get up. You're about to go back to your place to wash up but realize something suddenly.
"Since when do you call him Hobi?"
"Since when do you have a crush on him?"
Your eyes go wide with panic. "Wha- No way what're you say-"
"Do you think I'm blind? I can perfectly see it when two people are cuddling on my couch."
"We just fell asleep that's all-"
"I saw you two over at the piano, too. And in the kitchen a few days ago doing the dishes. And while dancing here in the living room for no reason. You can't look him in the eyes without going red and he can't take his eyes off of you."
There isn't much you can say to convince him otherwise because you realize that he's right. At first when you guys started hanging out again, you thought you felt butterflies because you kinda had a thing for him in high school. You paid it no mind thinking it'd fade away with time but it didn't. Your feelings only grew stronger and now you know it was visible to others.
What has you tensed up, however is the way Yoongi talks about the situation like it's both-sided. That's where you can't be sure. Because yes, Hoseok randomly calls you beautiful, takes you out for meals and spends entire days with you. But you don't know if he likes you like that or if he's just being friendly. Just like back in high school.
"Okay, yeah. He makes me feel a certain way. But there's nothing going on, we haven't even talked about it. I don't think he's into me like that."
Yoongi's brows furrow in confusion. "He was just asking me if anything was going on between you and Joon the other day, though."
He asked what?
"What?"
"Dude, he was obviously jealous and suspicious of the fact that you were roommates. And very close ones."
You did have a very close bond with Namjoon, just as you did with Yoongi. Yoongi's just involved less skinship and more serious talk. But Namjoon was the first person who friended you in Seoul and over the years he became your self proclaimed guardian angel. That was all.
"You didn't correct him?!"
"I tried but he seemed overwhelmed with confusion, I'm not sure if he fully believed me. Or fully listened? I dunno- I was kinda enjoying his little emotional crisis."
"Yoongs!"
"Fine! So yeah, maybe you should to talk to him."
How do you talk to someone about this? you wonder. And can Yoongi really be right about the possibility of him reciprocating your feelings?
Tumblr media
You're reading a book on your couch. It's been a couple of days since your cuddly interaction with Hoseok and you haven't really hung out after that, either. You're not avoiding him, though. More like testing the waters. Namjoon's little squeal and sprint to the living room gets you out of your thoughts.
"Y/N! Oh my god!"
"Joonie what happened?"
"I got in." His smile is from ear to ear but you're not surprised he got the job he was going after for a while now. He happens to be intelligent beyond your understanding. But also a goofball. Because he -who usually treats books like his children- throws the one you were reading away and gets you up on his back. Now you're both singing victory songs as he gives you a piggy back ride.
Just then, Hoseok makes an entrance to your apartment, sees you two and his face visibly drops.
"Oh- sorry guys. I should've knocked-"
"Dude, it's okay. Think about our two apartments as one big house. You don't have to worry about knocking everytime. Come in!" Namjoon is being his friendly self as he puts you down. "I gotta go call my parents. Thanks for always believing in me, Y/N." He places a soft peck on the top of your head and goes back to his room. Uh-oh. You hope Hoseok doesn't misunderstand.
"How are you doing, Hobi?"
"I'm-" he hesitates for a while. "I didn't know you and Namjoon were.. are you? Y'know like together?"
"No!" you regret yelling but it just comes out before you can stop. "I mean, it's not like that. We're friends. In fact he kinda decleared himself my older brother."
The total grimace that had took over Hoseok's face starts to slowly dissappear. "Oh, okay. I'm sorry for making you uncomfortable like that-"
"No, no. Let's just change the subject." You want to move on from this before it gets awkward.
"Okay. Oh right! I came over to show you something."
He holds out his phone for you to see. It's an invite to an event. Gwangju High's high school reunion, to be exact. You also got one, too but immediately deleted.
"The reunion? You're going?" you ask.
"We should go."
You're about to protest but he cuts in.
"I know most of our year were jerks. But it's Gwangju. I know you miss it there. And high school wasn't all evil."
"It was the people who were evil, Hobi."
"That's why we have to show them their evil ways weren't enough to break us down."
"What do you mean, we? Everyone loved you!"
"The jocks hated me for being popular despite not playing football."
That was true. They sometimes gave him a hard time for grabbing the attention of girls more than them.
"Besides, we're grown ups. If they weren't able to mature, that's their problem. We'll just breathe in some hometown air and have fun."
You did miss home. And the fact Hoseok'll be with you eases your stress so you say yes.
Tumblr media
Hoseok and you roam the streets of Gwangju, firstly. You tell him the places you missed most and you visit those. When the reunion evening closes in, both of you go to your homes to get ready. Your parents are sort of shocked you're attending the event but they won't complain because they missed you a lot and you haven't realized how much you missed them back till you finally came back after a long while.
Hoseok comes to pick you up and oh boy. He immediately recongnizes the dress you're wearing as the exact one you wore to prom. The light blue piece fits your body even more perfectly now, he thinks.
"This is your prom dress." It's not a question because he's certain.
You panic because well you wore it thinking nobody would remember since not a lot of people were paying attention to you during prom and you didn't have anything else decent enough in your old closet. How the hell does he remember?
"It looks even more beautiful." And with that, your panic is no more.
You get to the school finally and almost everyone is there. All trying very hard to look fancy, so Hoseok and you make fun of some of them before entering.
"It's J-hope!", "Hope's back!" and "Who is that with Hoseok?" are the comments you hear as you walk by. A few speeches are given, while you stuff your face with cupcakes. Then music's on and people start dancing.
Hoseok is approached by many and he kindly converses with them all. He forces you to speak from time to time, too. One of the boys who you used to tutor a lot, Hansung, tries to make a couple of moves on you. Probably under the influence of alcohol. You politely dismiss him but some other guys that came alone also are eyeing you from different places of the room. Hoseok is well aware and not okay with it, at all.
He slides a hand down your arm and links your fingers. When you turn to him in surprise, he pulls you closer. "Let's act like a couple."
"What-"
"I'm sick of people trying to see if you're available for them, aren't you?"
It is a bit disturbing. You bet most of them didn't even recognize you and are just looking for a prey for the night. "I am." you reply.
"Then just go with it."
So you do that but this time the girls start to get uncomfortable since most of them were eyeing Hoseok. And like clockwork, Gaeun appears with her gang of plastic girls. Gaeun used to be Hoseok's biggest fan. But all she actually wanted was to get into his pants just cause of how popular he was. Knowing this, you tense up. Her eyes hold such a suggestive look that you almost want to protect Hoseok from her.
As far as you know Hoseok has never indulged her like that back in school days. And he doesn't seem to be effected by the way she looks right now, either which can be described in two words: model legs.
"Hobi~" her irritating voice muses. "There're lots of girls wanting to dance with you tonight."
He takes his hand away from yours to claimingly grab you waist. "Sorry, ladies. My dances are all booked by this one, right here." He turns his head and places a kiss on your temple.
"I'm sure your date for the night won't mind if-"
"She's not just my date for the night. Y/N is my girlfriend." he cuts her off. Shock is evident not only on their faces but yours as well. The girls have to walk away awkwardly but what they think they're speaking among themselves is quite audible to you.
"There's no way. Y/N could never be enough for him. Just wait until the end of the night and see how he gets bored."
Hoseok didn't hear them. But you and some other people did. And you don't care what Gaeun says but her words get around fast and people are looking at you even more weirdly than before. Hoseok realizes your body tensing up.
"What's the matter?"
"I don't think people are buying that we're together. Especially after Gaeun started speaking to them."
He looks around to find that people really were looking at you suspiciously.
"Let's make it more believable, then."
He pulls you to the dancefloor and starts moving you to the rhythm. You've danced with him before but they were all silly ones, meant for fun. This one was serious. And your bodies were seriously close. But you just let him lead you, knowing that he knows what he's doing. After a while he figures that the music's ending so he twirls you around and finishes with a sudden dip.
You're back is resting againt his hand as you're leant back and Hoseok's face is so very close to yours. Some people clap and some don't but neither of you really care about the people watching anymore. Then he kisses you. He downright kisses you at the center of the dancefloor. It's passionate but gentle. He doesn't let go for a while but you've no clue how long it's been cause you're lost in the taste of him. Which is a thousand times sharper than the whiskey and a thousand times sweeter than the cupcakes.
He pulls you back up, finally parting your lips. "I think we got about enough attention. Wanna get out of here? We can go to the music room." he suggests. All you can do is nod cause you still can't form words.
You get there and it's the only place in this school that you've missed. You sit down on the piano seat and Hoseok pulls a chair next to you, it's like deja vu.
"You know the song you used to play, the one I liked a lot. River-"
"River flows in you." of course you remember.
"Yeah. I kinda tried learning that on the piano a while back."
"Show me."
He tries to play it and messes up some bits so you help him out. Then, your hands touch accidentally and you both freeze.
"Y/N-"
"Hoseok-"
You both try to speak at the same time and cut each other off, so you laugh. Hoseok goes for it again.
"Y/N. I wanted to ask you out so many times right here, as you'd play songs to me. Did you know that?"
You most certainly did not.
"I wanted to ask you to a dance at the prom, so bad. But you left before I could muster up the courage."
He turns to face you completely.
"I couldn't believe it when I found you again, like that. Everything I felt came back to me as we spent more and more time with each other. And when I got that invite.. I thought- Maybe I've been given a second chance, to do it right this time."
Your heart is racing so fast that you can hear it. Every word he said are things that you've been thinking. So you have to do it properly this time, too.
"So.. so, will you go out with-"
You crash your lips with his immediately and he responds in a flash. This time the kiss is much more deep and demanding. His hands travel down to your waist as you get up from your seat and move to his lap. He hums into your mouth and you try to take in every bit of the vibration from it before both of you pull apart, out of breath.
But he still looks at you with questioning eyes, as if you haven't just given him an answer clear as day. But he looks so cute that you entertain him.
"Yes, high school crush. I will go out with you."
He can finally smile again. Though, it turns into a smirk a while later.
"But will you go out with me?" you joke around, still sitting on his lap.
"I will go out with you so bad that it'll swipe you right off your feet."
As if he already doesn't..
....
A/N: Wowzers, my first Hoseok fic is finished.. I know this was long and thanks sooo much if you bared with me and read it. It would mean a great deal to me to know what you thought of this so, I’d love to have your feedback. Thanks again for reading and have a lobely daayyy :)
PS: How beautiful is Hoseok btw..

dear doctor ep 8
i keep raving about how much i love tua's character. but. this ep just solidified the fact that he's the best character for me. yes, we love characters who learn and grow and all that jazz but i think the characters who are often static throughout narratives often get shunted off to the side and are under-rated as a result (i'm mostly thinking of side-characters, or the best friends who are always wise and always dole out the best advice/friendship/support). and tua, as a character, feels very static--by which i mean he is going to end the show in the same place he started it--as a grim reaper, and not having learned or grown much throughout.
well, most likely he will have to learn how to balance a romantic relationship with prakan and his job as a grim reaper, which often puts the two of them at odds, but i feel like that's a couple journey they're going to have to go through instead of an individual journey. and idk if that's why prakan rubs me the wrong way--he and tua are obviously NOT equals in this story. tua is the much more understanding one, while prakan is always a step or two behind in terms of showing empathy and sympathy. oh, he does care greatly for his patients, don't get me wrong, but that caring is often presented in a very rigid, black and white manner. like, you're going to be cured whether u like it or not because i'm your doctor and i say so and i know better than you. prakan IS a great doctor, but an arrogant one who prizes his smartness and greatness AS A DOCTOR above everything else, even his patients.
so this disparity between tua and prakan as characters often leaves me frustrated, mostly at prakan because i want to shake him and ask him to understand tua a bit better as well.
(obviously there's not going to be a "correct" side when death is involved, and certainly not when someone loses their beloved parent, and maybe i'm more like prakan in that regard but i can't wait for the moment when he finally shows some understanding and sympathy for tua).
Tumblr media
i loved prakan a lot more this ep than in previous ones. his grief was palpable and heart-wrenching and i wanted to give him a hug, when previously all i wanted to do was shake him.
Tumblr media
i'm still not totally onboard this ship tho i see the potential but...the North Star talk was very cute, i'll admit. nathee definitely has a crush on keeta, and i loved that keeta was there for him when he saw his abusive father for the first time in a while again (although that's just the kinda character keeta is--an adorable precious cinnamon roll) and i loved the backstory we got on nathee.
still maintain metha is a prick, but i do love nuch/metha together so freakin' much. (srsly our girl nuch throws juuuuust a tiny bit of attention his way and i swear he becomes totally whipped for her. which, same, dude, same.)
ahh, the car crash. a monumentally stupid charade to get our doctor in mortal danger. i know this had to happen so prakan could reevaluate his life and his choices and somehow accept that he can't win over death, but that that doesn't mean he should quit being a doctor because he has saved a ton more lives than he has lost but. still. so monumentally stupid and funny.
me, whenever i encounter car accidents and protagonists getting hit by vehicles in dramas:

"I jokingly told you that the only way I'd marry you was if you did this wierd outlandish thing, and you actually did it, and I'm kind of charmed." with... a Danganronpa ship of your choice, I guess? Don't want to make you write on a ship you don't like
A/N Here’s my thanks for sending me that prompts list. I chose hinanami for this and honestly I’m a bit relieved to find out that I still have some writing left in me. Hope you enjoy it!
“I know I say this a lot, more often with other friends, but what the fuck?”
“Hm? What’s wrong Hajime?” Chiaki asks with her usual calmness, completely oblivious to her boyfriend’s panic. Well, not completely since she at least senses his slight discomfort. “Ah, could it be… I got it wrong?”
If Hajime could be frank, which he was, he couldn’t honestly tell what exactly about this is wrong. Hell, he couldn’t even tell what this was supposed to be. He’s used to his friends pulling shit and dumbass stunts but Chiaki? She was supposed to be one of his more sensible company. Sure sometimes she’d do something confusing just never this… this outrageous.
This is Chiaki sitting too comfortably in the middle of a pentagram drawn with what Hajime hopes to be paint and not blood. The room is dimly lit because the curtains are drawn and candles never did burn bright enough. Has he mentioned that there were too many candles? He was sure that this was what a fire hazard looked like. And then there was Chiaki herself who has lipstick smeared all over her face except for her lips! And don’t even get him started with her outfit.
He doesn’t even know where to begin at how wrong everything was.
“Hey, Chiaki… is there something that I should know?” He bluntly asks.
She blinks, slowly, as if his question so absurd for her to comprehend. But she does eventually, and she was not at all pleased.
“Hmph!” She huffs and pouts at him, disappointed. “After all the effort I put into this!”
“Sorry, sorry! I honestly can’t remember what’s this supposed to be.” He apologizes even though he feels more confused than remorseful. “But I want to know. So if you’re not too mad, would you please tell me?”
She just pouts harder in response and although he knew this should have made him feel more guilty, it was hard to when she just looked cuter.
Only she didn’t think this was cute at all.
“Last week,” She says in a flat tone that told him he should already remember it with this hint.
He couldn’t.
“Last week?” He repeats, hoping that she would expound on it this time.
She huffs and he tries to at least not look like he was distracted by her adorability.
The not so adorable glare got his attention though.
“Last week you said we’d get married if I did this.” She says with arms crossed.
“I did?” He asks and she nods eagerly.
Huh, he thought that if he did say anything remotely hinting to this then he would have remembered. Clearly he hadn’t remembered. He thought of the odds that there was a misunderstanding. Probably high. Probably irrelevant considering that she already went through the odds.
Honestly, this was obviously one of those things he says in sarcasm and yet… she took it to heart. She even went beyond and actually did it.
He feels like swooning.
“Woah, you did all this… just so we’d get married?” He blushes the moment the question left his lips. It sounds more like a fantasy than a statement.
“Yeah, I did. Because you said this was your requirement and if it’s just this then I’m willing to commit,” She answers without falter.
He’d be lying if he said he didn’t fall harder for her at her resolve. She knew what she wanted and she wanted him. She didn’t falter at all.
Except she did falter, just a bit.
A mix of uncertainty crossed her face as she looks up at him and asks, “Unless… you don’t want to marry me?”
He feels as if a bucket of ice was suddenly poured on him.
“No I- it’s not that.” He tries to reassure(?) her or console(?) her. He’s not sure what exactly he was going for. Did he want to marry her? “I…” Sure he liked her but weren’t they too young for this? But it’s not like he was completely against it… and yet. “Marriage? I mean, isn’t this too soon?”
“Not really? At least, I don’t think so,” She says, deflating at his deflections. Her shoulders slump as she mumbles, “I guess… I was the only one who wanted us to get married.”
“But I do want to marry you!” He spouts and his eyes widen at his sudden declaration. When he sees how happy it makes her, he finally gives in. “Alright, fuck it. Let’s get married.”
“Really?” She smiles expectantly and when he returns the gesture, she tackles him for a hug. “Yes! Husband acquired!”
“Geez, don’t make it sound like you just got an item in a videogame.” He scolds her but it’s more affectionate than reprimanding. He places a hand atop her head and when she looks up, he finds himself looking away from her earnest gaze. When he speaks, his voice sounds smaller than he feels. “You’ll have to wait for the rings though. I honestly wasn’t expecting this. I’m actually embarrassed that you proposed first but if… if you let me, I want to do it too but next time with rings.”
“Rings?” She tilts her head in confusion. And then practically jumps at the clarification. “Oh, you don’t need to bother with that. I already have a pair ready.”
“W-What?” He gives her an incredulous look. He’s actually internally screaming at the missed opportunity but outside he tries to play it cool. “Aren’t you too prepared?”
“Naturally! We can’t get married without rings after all!” She giggles. “Is now a good time to get married?”
“NOW??”
“Yeah, now’s actually the best time to optimize a marriage.” There’s a shuffling noise as she fishes out something from her pocket. Her phone. “There’s a couples event in Never Ending Fantasy Online tonight and I want to register us earlier.”
He blinks.
“Hold on.” He has a foreboding feeling about this but it’s too late for him. He has to know. “Never Ending Fantasy Online is having a couples event?”
“Yes, that’s just what I said. Did you not hear the first time?”
“No, I heard you. It’s just…” What did that have to do with this? Seriously, what the-
Fuck.
“Wait, so the marriage you were talking about… was for this game?” He asks even though he already knows the answer.
“Hm?” She looks back at him with an innocent gaze that just makes him feel twice as foolish. “What else could it be for?”
“I-”
For a moment, he considers telling her.
He considers telling her of this shortlived fantasy where they finally tie the knot. He considers telling her how much he had been looking forward to seeing her in a wedding gown, walking down the aisle. He considers telling her of his idea of their married life where they’d be living together and maybe have some kids down the road. He considers telling her of how happy he would have made her and how they’d grow old together.
He considers telling her all of this.
“Never mind.” He decides in the end.
With a face that’s red and ripe from those fantasies.
“You look red, Hajime. What’s wrong? Do you have a fever?”
“Just a headache.” He passes it off with a groan. Thank goodness he has experience with rollercoaster emotions because he schools his face neutral.
He’ll get over it.
He’ll also probably cry a bit about it later.
“Yeah, sure let’s register now and get this over with.” He places his hands over her face and rub maybe harder than necessary. “But first lets get this horrible makeup off your face. Seriously, that is not how you use a lipstick.”
“Thanks.” She smiles too brightly. He thinks that it’s unfair that she’s this cute.
He’s already pulling her towards the bathroom to wash up when she suddenly stops and tugs him back.
“Oh and one more thing.” She starts.
He sighs. “Yes?”
If only the room was just a bit brighter.
“I look forward to those rings next time…”
Maybe then he would have seen her face— cute, hopeful, and just a bit redder than his.
