Related to the last anon about your dad, if you’re comfortable answering. Does he know any older music industry folks? Like those who were around in the 60s or 70s? I’ve gotten the sense they are the best source for insider Mclennon gossip is why I ask…

yeah he’s run in the same circles as a lot of those older musicians/producers/engineers for decades and has worked w quite a few from that era. there’s really only a few things i’ve heard mclennon-wise from him that i’ve never seen to be talked about here to my knowledge, most of what i know from him has already been discussed through other sources.

1) allegedly during the got back tour, paul kind of blew up on a technician for having issues with one of the screens during the i’ve got a feeling duet w john basically being like “of all things to fuck up, don’t fuck up john’s bit”

2) also have heard him talk about a rumour that there was something between david bailey and john but my dad wrote it off as being shite and wouldn’t give me more details about what he heard 😭

3) the brother of a quite well-known producer from the 60s/70s claims he heard from i think if i remember correctly it was clapton (which is kind of a wild source for this??) that paul was actively suicidal after john’s death and, if it weren’t for linda being so attentive, things could/would have gone down very differently

there are other things that i’ve seen speculated about here that i’ve heard from him as well. like all 4 beatles having their own slang/code for certain things that seemed completely nonsensical if you were to speak w them (which i had heard from him before i had found people discussing it here so it was neat to have that somewhat confirmed)

Stupid Names: Rain Code Edition (Vol. I?)

I gotta say, I do appreciate that the Rain Code characters’ naming keeps the DanRon sensibilities, but formats them in a Western enough way that I can finally point to something to get people to understand the specific kind of stupid that DR names evoke.

Up until now, the closest I could get was the Gyakuten Saiban/Ace Attorney series, but in those games the names are extremely on the nose, where as DanRon is a tiny bit more subtle.

Like all of these characters’ dumb, dumb names sound hit the ear just the same way as most DR characters’ do to someone who knows Japanese. Aside from a few extra tidbits here and there, I’ll mostly let you guys soak in how dumb the names are this time and do quick intros for the characters.

First up, we’ve got our crew of detectives with their special talents. (Why is special backwards? Does that mean something?) They’re all dispatched out to the Kanai Ward, where the game takes place.

Okay so I have to assume that the “desu” here is evoking “death” and not the meme about the part of speech, but you never know. The “-hiko” ending is, as you may know, a common boys’ name suffix. This is our womanizer character, who also wants to become a famous detective. He’s always carrying his giant backpack full of disguises, like a horny little happy mask salesman.

Also, reading the notes about how he can change not just his face and clothes, but his height, voice, and body type is making me laugh, because they really just made a More OP Sagishi, didn’t they?

Aphex Logan

Special Skill: Detecting Life

A veritable Seer of Life, here. Can sense and pinpoint the location of any living thing within a 50 meter radius. His posture, backstory, and overall vibe say yanki tough guy (after his lawyer parents died, he grew up in the slums), but that hat/mask thing kinda says New Japan Wrestling, so now I’m wondering if his last name is a reference to one half of the internet’s shittiest brothers. It does say he tends to solve things with violence.

Zange Eraser

Special Skill: Thoughtography

I want the last name to be a pun on eraser + razor so bad. I mean, the “zan” in the first name could refer to slicing with a sword, so it’d be so good! Oh well. In Japanese, “erasing” is slang for killing someone, in the same vein as “rubbin’ him out” kind of Looney Toons mobster talk. This older guy has the vibe of a seasoned warrior, and never speaks about his past. However, since he sometimes refers to himself as a “former official”, it’s possible he may be an ex-govt employee. His ability is that he can project his own memories as images onto digital devices, so I’m not sure what the pole is for. Selfie stick?

Zilch Alexander 

Special Skill: Animal Puppetry

Being able to control animals is cool, I guess, but man this is a really good example of DR’s trademark “One Normal Name + One Really Stupid Name” principle in action. 

Anyway, Zilch here loves the harmony between man and nature, and so he specializes in things that blend the two (i.e., animals). He has tendency to overtake conversations in order to make sure things proceed optimally, which gives off the impression to others that he thinks he’s better than everyone else. But hey, nobody’s perfect.

What an amazing character design. Love these animals’ poses and expressions, too. No notes.

Vivia Twilight

Special Skill: Separating Spirit from Body

Despite the name sounding like someone’s MLP OC, this little twink can yeet his soul out of his body to become invisible and not let walls or floors stand in his way. This name is so good, damn. 

Vivia is one of those people with aesthetic, decadent kinda vibes. You know the ones. He’s got a self-indulgent type of personality, and you can often find him sleeping under the agency’s heater or beneath a hotel grand piano or whatever.

This is 100% the fanbait character.

Pucci Lavmin (Pucchi Ravmin)

Special Skill: Super Hearing

She may look like a little kid, but beneath her petite exterior lies machine-like serenity and intellect. Maybe it’s because she doesn’t get to talk to other people much, but she has a habit of unexpected responses or emotional outbursts in conversation. Guess she took the touching grass thing prescriptively?

Her skill seems a bit underwhelming considering we have a guy who can shapeshift and one who can re-enact that Pokemon Tower anime episode at will, but what do I know. I guess there’s lots of good practical applications to this one, which they point out, like listening in on conversations or for footsteps and stuff.

Harara Nightmare (Halala Nightmare)

Special Skill: Past Vision

Oh sure, don’t give me any direction on the romanization for this one, thanks. Also, why are both detectives on this page voiced by someone named Yui, written the same exact way? Weird. Anyway, excellent name, love it. Hindsight is always 20/20, and imagine if you could look back at actual 2020? Nightmare, right?

Harara/Halala always keeps a cool head and is able to make very precise deductions, so they’re a veteran of plenty of tough cases. That said, they trust nothing more than money, and won’t take on any clients that don’t offer sufficient compensation for their skills.

Fubuki Clockford (possibly Crockford, but come on)

Special Skill: Rewinding Time

This one is my favorite name. As you may or may not know, “fubuki” means blizzard but is also a common girl’s name, but that’s not what makes it wonderful. The real star of the show is the meaningful last name that also sounds like a background character in Illbleed.

Good news: this Knight of Time’s powers aren’t busted, because you can only go back once, and after that you can’t use the power again until more time has passed. 

Fubuki herself is an illustrious daughter of the noble Clockford family, and hasn’t had a lot of opportunities to interact with the normal, everyday world. As such, she’s got some unique views on things, and she’s often causing issues for people by marching to the beat of her own drum. She’s also got a bad tendency to drop conversations, which doesn’t help.

Melami Goldmine (Merami Goldmine)

Special Skill: Necromancy

This is another great name, because this one seems to hint at an avaricious nature, rather than being a direct reference to her talent. (Unless of course this is also a Zombieya no Reiko reference in which case, WOW.) She can raise the spirits of the dead for a price, but only if she’s wearing something the deceased wore in life.

Melami likes clothes, and people who'd look good in clothes she likes.

Yakou Furio

Role: Head of the Yakou (Midnight Service) Detective Agency

Not one of the Super Detectives (or Great Detectives? I haven’t kept up with the direction the loc is going), but still an accomplished sleuth recognized by the International Detectives Organization (World Detectives Organization? This might be a WHO reference). Presumably the founder of the agency, he’s also the only office staff, and everybody’s boss. Despite running the agency, he tries to keep operations on the downlow to avoid dealing with the Amaterasu Co. Security Dept. He’s known for his timid demeanor, but his name belies fiery rage (”yakou” can also mean “let’s burn”).

Yomii Hellsmile

Role: Head of Amaterasu Co.’s Security Dept

This is simultaneously a floor master from Kimi ga Shine (name, personality) and our Junko (personality, presence in a Kodaka game). He’s young but delights in the misfortune of others, crushes people with a serene demeaner, and uses his underlings just to toss them aside after. He rules Kanai Ward, and uses that achievement to broker influence within the Amaterasu Mega Company. (Wasn’t the big evil company in Enen no Shouboutai called Amaterasu too?) 

Also, I revise my earlier statement, this may very well end up being the fanbait character...

Suwaro Electro

Role: Vice Head of Amaterasu Co.’s Security Dept

Meanwhile this character design is one that speaks to my heart. The first name kinda sounds like both the imperative order “sit!” and the English word “swallow”, while the last name just sounds like a C Tier comic book character. This is Yomii’s right hand woman, who is the beneficiary of his sprinklings of trust and love, and she thinks very highly of herself. She normally has zero mercy for those who oppose her but makes an exception to be a loyal lackey for Yomii, making her sorta like this game’s Mukuro. I hope she’s just as fail and tragic as my beloved Corpsey.

Then there’s these weirdos who work in the Amaterasu Co. Security Dept:

This rejected Persona enemy is Spank Cassanero, and he likes money.

I’m guessing at how to transliterate this name, since it could also be Spunk, and the last name could be a little different. Seemed like it was going for Italian to me, I dunno.

Next, the bullybait looking person is Seth Brows(e), the head of the security department’s investigation team. He speaks so softly that he needs a megaphone to help him project. He’s pretty subdued when he speaks, which makes him come across as kind of sickly.

The third-string Vtuber is called Gyoumu Hall, which is a classic stupid Japanese name, where you use the Western surname to just call a character “conference hall”. The leader of the security department’s Anti-Terrorist Unit, she talks fast, is rather animated, and uses the first person pronoun “this” (kore).

Finally, we have this 6′6″ fellow known as Dominic Fulltank. How apt. He sure looks like a Dominic, doesn’t he? He’s the vice head of the Anti-Terorrist Unit. He’s totally loyal to Gyoumu, though sometimes struggles to carry out more complicated orders.

...Some of these characters have unfortunate optics, man.

Lilamoth's Rogue's gallery, a (very) rough draft fanfic premise

I've been having so much fun coming up with oc’s for my crack theory that Lilamoth is collecting siblings (and they’re all Luka’s exes lmao). And yes, Lilamoth has successfully stolen 2/3 of their identities...

All three characters are sentimonsters, and their amoks are reconfigured Miraculous in the form of locking bracelets that cannot be removed, stolen long ago from the Native American Miracle Box, courtesy of Colt Fathom’s American weapons manufacturer and Tsurugi Industries.

All of the animals their Miraculous are based off of are known to attack and kill domestic cats… Make of that as you will :)

Due to Gabemoth making the Wish in a previous universe, the entire show of Miraculous is a 15 year time loop. All three children were once previous holders of the Ladybug Miraculous, and due to various reasons, failed to stop Gabemoth from making his Wish. With every Wish he made, the Ladybug holder was turned into a sentimonster in their subsequent Wish.

You can see how this all bodes for our Maribug…

Marina Verdi

Birthday: August 18, 2000 Chinese zodiac: Dragon Sun sign: Leo Decan: third/Aries (Mars) Moon sign: Aries Rising sign: Capricorn

First up we have Marina Verdi. She’s the girl who Lilamoth disguised herself as in the season 5 finale. Just like the disguise, she has a black bob haircut, ocean blue eyes, and wears a pair of glasses. She is half Chinese, and half Italian (like a certain polka-dotted hero…). In fact, she is actually the biological older sister of Marinette.

The Dupain-Chengs fell on hard times in their young marriage, due to Tom’s father disowning him because he married a Chinese woman. They were solicited by Tsurugi Industries to join an experimental fertility treatment for a sum of money. If the couple adopted out the subsequent child to an employee of Tsurugi Industries, they’d receive an additional lump sum of cash. The couple were eager to find out why they were having issues conceiving, so they made the decision to join the trial. Little did they know that Sabine would be implanted with a sentimonster embryo.

Sabine had an uneventful pregnancy, and delivered a healthy baby girl 9 months later. The baby was swiftly adopted by Mrs. Verdi, a single woman, and high ranking employee of Tsurugi Industries.

The child was named Marina, and her girlhood was a standard upper middle class one. She never met her biological parents, due to a waver the couple signed. Tom and Sabine invested the money they received from having her in a bakery located in a fashionable part of Paris. The bakery is still very successful, and considered one of the best in Paris.

Marina’s hobbies are video games, EDM, and computers. She loves school, learning, and is extremely smart, but is kind of snotty about it. She’s a bit of a lone wolf and has a sour disposition.

She has a gorgeous singing voice and was the original vocalist of Kitty Section before she and Luka broke up due to her being a jerk. Marina is cis and bisexual. She is currently in a devoted relationship with Shone. Shone is less of a pushover than Luka was, so it is a far less unbalanced relationship than the one she had with Luka. It also helps that they are much more compatible, and Marina is completely smitten with her girlfriend. They help each other be better people. Marina considers Shone her better half, and often calls Shone “her little bird” or “her quail” (French: “Mon petite oiseau”, and “Ma caille”—“ça caille” (short for the French word for coagulating) is slang for “it’s freezing”!)

Marina always attends Shone’s ballet and figure skating practice, and often writes music for her to dance or skate with.

Marina has a younger adoptive brother… Wayhem. There’s a reason we haven’t learned his last name yet. Wayhem is the biological younger brother of Lilamoth. It’s a long story… Marina and Wayhem don’t get along very well, as they are both headstrong and complete opposites. It doesn’t help that Wayhem insists on practicing his saxophone while Marina is trying to study.

Marina and Kagami form a friendship based off of quick witted banter and their love to throw shade, but Kagami sometimes thinks Marina goes too far. Shone is just happy Marina finally has a friend. Lilamoth is happy she has another Avenue of exploiting them all. Later on in the series, Marina also develops a surprising friendship with Nino due to their shared love of EDM.

Marina wields the Miraculous of the Coyote, and her theme color is a deep reddish gray color. I have yet to decide what her weapon is, but it’ll probably be some sort of pole weapon, like a scythe. Based off of several Native American myths where the coyote stole fire (or the sun) from the gods to give to humans, Her powers should be elemental and fire based. In some Native American folklore, coyotes are seen as beings of creation, and wildfires are often beneficial to the environment and help facilitate new growth. There’s probably some meta about how her biological father creates his livelihood with fire while baking. Fire also compliments Shone’s ice powers, which is just icing on the cake—pun intended.

Marina’s villain name is Cania.

Of the three, Marina has the second-most trouble coming to terms with being a sentimonster and being under Lilamoth’s and Tsurugi Industry’s thumbs. Despite her element, fire, she closes herself off and acts coldly to cope.

Marina’s civilian outfit is a black leather jacket, pink T-shirt, gray blue skinny jeans, and a pair of brown heeled leather lace up boots. Marina’s civilian outfit is inspired by Marinette’s pre-series 7th grade outfit she wears in her class photo in Reflekta and the episode Derision.

Shone Bianca

Birthday: January 28, 2001 Chinese zodiac: Snake Sun sign: Aquarius Decan: first/Aquarius (Uranus) Moon sign: Pisces Rising sign: Libra

Shone Bianca is a strikingly elegant and beautiful girl. She has black blonde hair, which is usually pulled back in a bun, rich gray eyes, and fair skin. She is half Italian, and half German.

Her mother, Mrs. Bianca is an upper management employee of Audrey Bourgeois’ fashion empire. Mrs. Bianca married a rich corporate lawyer, and through her husband’s employer (either Tsurugi Industries or Colt’s warlord company. I haven’t decided which one yet), used a surrogate to have their eldest daughter Annalise.

Annalise can do nothing wrong in her parents’ eyes. She has excellent grades, is a talented ballet dancer, and has many friends. She’s currently working on a business degree at a prestigious university, which is fully sponsored by a scholarship through either Colt’s war empire or Tsurigi Industries. 

After a few years of raising young Annelise, Mr. And Mrs. Bianca decided to hire another surrogate for another baby. Little did they know, they actually hired someone to carry a sentimonster child. It was a fraught pregnancy with many health scares. Shone was born a premature sickly newborn and it put strain on the couple. In a chaotic series of events, it came out that Mr. Bianca had a mistress (Lilamoth’s biological mother… it’s a long story).

The couple separated. Mrs. Bianca blamed infant Shone for her failed marriage, and hired a revolving door of Nannies to take care of the child, all while doting immense amount of attention and care on Annelise.

Mrs. Bianca quickly hired another surrogate. This new baby would be her comeback baby. The surrogate had a boy, and Mrs. Bianca was over the moon. She named her darling baby boy Louis.

Annelise and Louis grew up close and were coddled by Mrs. Bianca, while Shone was ignored and ridiculed by her mother. Although her siblings are never outwardly cruel to Shone, she still feels like an outsider in her own family.

Like her older sister, Shone is an accomplished ballerina. She takes ballet from Aurélie Dupoint, and is in Chloe's class.

Although she loves ballet, Shone uses ballet as a means to cross train for her true passion: figure skating. She takes skating lessons from Philippe, and dreams of one day going to the Winter Olympics. Philippe insists she is ready, but Shone is still unsure.

Shone is close friends with Blonde Runner Girl with Prosthetic Legs, and Adrien. She was actually in a semi-successful relationship with Luka for a short time being, but due to her comphet, and both of their conflicting baggages, there were too many issues. They broke up messily, but it was for the best. Luka wishes nothing but the best for Shone.

Shone met Marina and realized she is a lesbian, and is much happier in her own skin. Shone supports Adrien with his own comphet, and is the first person he ever comes out as gay with.

Shone wields the miraculous of the Falcon. Her costume is white, and gray, with a tiny amount of gold. She “wears” gold pointe shoes to suggest the yellow feet of gyrfalcons, the bird her kwami and costume is based off of. I think her power should be elemental, and ice based, which mirrors Cania’s fire powers. Her weapon is a rope dart, that is sort of fashioned like a yo-yo.

Shone’s villain name is Odette.

Last up we have Jean Duparc. He is Lilamoth’s biological older twin brother. (It’s a long story…) His birth name is Mio DeAngelo, but his social worker insisted he change it to something more “French” in order to more appeal to potential adopters, as it is difficult enough to adopt out an 10 year old Romani child who was born in Tokyo, Japan (it’s a long story…) and was held back in school. (He started school late due to the issues with his home life making it difficult to attend, and he was held back in 7th grade, as he was having issues with his dyslexia.) Dispite all this, he enjoys learning, even if it’s more difficult for him than other children.)

Odile Duparc recently dopted him, and Jean is quite fond of her. She is a bit of a scatterbrained mother, and has big dreams. It seems more like Jean is the parent at times, but the two are close.

Jean is a kind, sweet, but shy boy. He’s a bit has trouble forming bonds with people, due to his tumultuous young childhood. He briefly met Luka in a youth group home before he was adopted. The pair formed a friendship, and once got in trouble for sneaking out and going dumpster diving. They lost contact due to the fact that Luka’s mysterious father paid a prestigious lawyer to return Luka and Juleka back to their mother. (Luka and Juleka were taken away from Anarka unjustly, due to racism against their Romani heritage.)

Jean and Luka met by chance a few years later, and were in a sweet but short relationship. Luka doesn’t know why Jean broke it off, but respects his decision, even if it hurts. He wishes nothing but the best for Jean.

Jean is the holder of the Raccoon Miraculous and his weapon is a comically oversized kendama, which he uses as a giant hammer and battering ram. He is the heavy hitter of the trio. Not sure what his power should be, but probably some sort of variation of Uproar, as raccoons are known to be chaotic. Maybe when he activates his power, it causes and “event” that he has to figure out how to work in his favor, a bit like manipulating fate, to compliment the Ladybug’s lucky charm, as opposed to the Monkey’s power to disrupt powers.

Jean’s villain name is Hermes.

Unlike Marina and Shone, Jean quickly comes to terms with being a sentimonster. He also knows the kind of person his twin, Lilamoth is, and what to expect from her. His life has never been easy, so he’s used to being used and manipulated, but he still has issues with being Tsurugi Industry’s pawn, and does his best to protect Marina and Shone from the brunt of it.

In the previous universe where he was Ladybug, his Chat Noir was Felix, and they were deeply in love.

Unfortunately, their Miraculouses required a kiss to remove. And on top of that, they had to contend with secret identities.

During their finale battle between the pair and the Miracularized villains, the lovers shared their first and final kiss and traded Miraculous in order to best hide from the millions of scanners locked on their position.

They find and confront Gabemoth.

But Gabemoth has the upper hand and casts Voyage. He sends the new Cat holder to the surface of the sun.

Felix yo-yos a brace, and grabs Jean’s outstretched hand. But the gravitational pull was too great.

Gabemoth Clouts Felix’s chest, launching the child across the crypt, and closes the portal

All that there is left of of Jean is the Black Cat ring clutched in Felix’s fingers.

Felix starts to stir. He has to combine the Ladybug and the Black cat to defeat Gabriel.

Gabemoth sends out an akuma to the ring.

“Tikki! Pla—AUGH!” The boy crumples to the ground.

It was child’s play after that. Gabemoth makes his Wish.

I think pre-teens can have a million of reasons to argue, so I won't touch on young MarkHyuk. Plus I haven't watched much content with them as kids and teens. I will compare MarkHyuk and MarkWoo now.

First of all, Koreans are community oriented, the group matters more than an individual. I think it helps unitication in situations where in other countries neither of the sides would agree to yield and compromise. And Mark is a pastor's child, a devoted Christian.

MarkHyuk grew up together, they are childhood friends, in 127 they are maknaes (which mattered in the beginning, Korean fads and slang move quickly, it's harder to find common language with hyungs, want to watch same movies and listen to the same artists, etc), and they share similar circumstances (2 teams). They have to rely on each other. MarkHyuk are also kind of rivals. At least Haechan feels motivated by Mark, he doesn't feel like he can do less or be left behind (he talked about how Mark became such a good rapper because he practiced writing daily with dedication, while Hyuk was slacking off as he couldn't bother as much, nowadays he says the double shift is almost impossible for him, but Mark does it, so he needs as well).

Haechan is mentally older than Mark, more jaded, pessimistic, he likes to annoy and to guide, correct (watch him during dance practices), things to be done (he helps TY and DY), he is a smartass ("oh, Canada"). While Mark has a problem with being treated as a child, as younger, less capable. He wants to lead, he wants his way, he is pretty dominant. He is not a born leader, though. Haechan tried to get rid of "hyung" honorific, but Mark didn't agree as it would mean even less subordination (by rules Hyuk have to listen to him as an appointed leader of Dream, and as an older person).

Jungwoo is also dominant. However, his dominance is of different kind. He wants things his way, doesn't like to be said no, it's hard to stop him, but his goal is attention, not "the alpha" spot or responsibility for himself. He is happy to get his way through means of pretending to be submissive, lets decide for him as he is not opionated about many things (like food).

Mark likes attention, so Woo's clinginess doesn't bother him. Woo listens, agrees, he is funny with his jokes and is not loud bts. He is much more comfortable to be around for Mark, than Hyuk. Jungwoo doesn't get offended easily, he doesn't fight to death for his opinions. doesn't argue much. Mark said about Yuta that he likes the Japanese, because it is comfortable around him.

Truth be told, Mark didn't experience Jungwoo full force, I think. Woo's negative sides. Doyoung is the one who took care of Jungwoo in the beginning. He is still the one Woo works the most with in 127. It is easier to stay on good terms, to like each other, when there are no circumstances that put your friendship to the test.

Digimon Adventure 02 (manhua) - Vol. 1

Eurgh...I think this one is even worse than the first series. However, it is mercifully short (2 volumes), so at least it will be over quick. I think copies of this manhua in English are kind of a rare commodity so I'm just reading scans.

Ch. 1

-Back at it with the rushed adaptations as illustrated by Yuen Wong Yu. So far, the art in this is looking pretty good, but the writing is a mess, just like the previous series.

-This was a super condensed intro to 02. Veemon, Hawkmon, and Armadimon are all introduced simultaneously and the 01 kids don't even attempt to hide the Digiworld from the 02 kids. It bugged me that when Daisuke got his digivice he was like "so this means...!" How does he know what anything means?? He just got sucked into a computer with zero context.

-Charmingly lame translation. Daisuke says stuff like "mad skillz" and "dag yo." Honestly, he would. Sooo funny how they kinda-sorta incorporated the Japanese names. "I'm Daisuke, but my friends call me Davis." That's like saying "I'm Maxine, but my friends call me Meredith!" Just...a completely different name lol. (Then again, I guess East Asian people do choose "American" names, so maybe it's not so crazy).

Ch. 2

-I really wonder about the production of this manhua. 01 was 5 volumes, but for 02 we only get 2. The writer/artist must have known from the start that they would only get 2 volumes because of how blisteringly fast the pace is. Was this based on bad sales for the first manhua? Or maybe the fact that the second season of the anime wasn't as popular?

-This chapter starts with Koushiro saying "I found out why digivolution isn't working," but we never had a scene showing digivolution not working lol. We also see all of the armor digivolutions in this chapter...without any chapters of those getting introduced. So yeah, this is another adaptation that assumes you've seen the show so they skip all the exposition that would be helpful to a newcomer.

-Daisuke said "wiggedy wack"

Ch. 3

-Lol at Koushiro calling the 02 gang "kids" when he's like 2 years older than them. Middle schoolers do be like that tho...

-They just threw all the new digimon armor evolutions together in a way that I thought didn't really make sense. They find the digimentals and can't lift them up, but then later in the same chapter the digimentals just fly over to the kids and work? Why couldn't they pick them up the first time? Were the vibes off or something?

-I was sad to see they cut out the part where they make fun of Ken for calling himself the Digimon Emperor/Kaiser. I did enjoy Iori's "how does he do that with his hair?" bit tho lol

Ch. 4

-Wow, this one was laughably bad. Somehow we're already on Ken's redemption arc. The instant after Wormmon's sacrifice Taichi appears literally out of nowhere (he wasn't in the previous scenes at ALL) to be like "guys it's okay, Ken's brother died." WTF? How did he know that and where did he come from?? Clunkiest exposition ever. They could have at least thrown in a separate "Ken backstory" chapter to make this go down a lot smoother.

-Daisuke literally says "Dag. This thing got the bling bling" when he finds the miracle digimental loool. Why.

Ch. 5

-In horrible 90s/2000s slang news, in this chapter Daisuke calls Veemon "boo," randomly shouts "Extreme!" and says "that's straight." (I don't even remember that last one being a thing).

-I liked how they drew Stingmon. His face is a little more Wormmon-like than it was in the anime. I always prefer it when digivolutions bare a resemblance to their earlier forms instead of being totally random.

Ch. 6

-In this chapter, Daisuke calls Ken "homeslice." He's the only one they made talk "street" (or whatever you want to call it). The other characters are just like "Wtf?" lol. Of course, I'm sure none of this was in the original Chinese.

-Not gonna lie, going through this again is just reminding me how dull 02's story is :/ I think they kept presenting questions "who is this mysterious lady??" but then the answers we eventually got were underwhelming, so you were left feeling like "what was the point...?"

Ch. 7

-They mention the dark ocean, but it's completely without context because they didn't bother to adapt that episode lol. So much of this manga is out of context in general and would be a nightmare to read without prior knowledge.

-Weirdo dialogue when Hikari saves Miyako from falling off a cliff and says "I believe in you!" and Miyako's reaction is "wow! That was really nice, thank you!" As if Hikari was mean to her before...? Just awkward.

Onto the next! I bet it will be just as underwhelming (especially since the 2nd half of 02 isn't that great in the first place).

- He is very kind and generally open-minded (when he remembers to be) and pretty gregarious and DEFINITELY optimistic. And he respects deeply the importance of being authentic. 

- He’s good with having friends he sees frequently and having friends that he hasnt seen in years and the time gap doesnt alter the relationship in any way .. He doesnt feel like he’s losing friends when it’s been a while. Which is good because he has many friends in many odd places. He’s got connections. He knows people

- Yes he uses 50s greaser slang. Yes Akari has picked up some choice phrases from him that she uses better (negative perspiration baby....).

- Yes he knows things about cars.

- He’s at this point in his life where he has romance woes. It was fun being passed around / passing everyone around but, when he gets to be pushing 30 he starts to think, maybe i should settle down with a life partner and have a family...? But truth be told he’s not yet ready for either of those things. When he is ready he needs to end up with Lisa I think (she has romance troubles to mirror his in that people keep leaving, in fact he aggravated that himself by never fully committing to their budding romance, even almost severing their lovely friendship in his anxiety) (it’s in their natal charts it’s just the way that their lives are)

- His full name is Allan Alan Allen. None of his bullies ever touched on this

- Really he got bullied because in the 6th grade he developed a C R I P P L I N G obsession with the musical GREASE. Oh it was bad man. He still likes it even but now he can appreciate it as a work of art and of the times rather than just, like, guys in blue jeans dancing on cars

- He has no siblings. 

- He plays hockey like a god but outside of the rink he’s like ... kind of clumsy and .. he cant tolerate the din of busy places. He only goes to the Fluffmart between the hours of 12 - 2 am and Sue hates him

- Lisa is his BFF and Robby is his intermittent roommate and Akari is his bro and Taylor used to be his roommate and Allan is convinced that he has an older-brother relationship with Taylor but Taylor doesnt feel that way and sort of thinks that Allan is overberaring and annoying and he doesnt know why he sends him a birthday card in the mail every year. And Allan knows everyone else too because he’s a social butterfly that way. He is the Only Person In Roy’s Life who has been Consistently Present and Nice to him

so!!! I mean sane Jack obviously, because 80s him would never come to terms with it and therefore never actually come out.

Dew literally could not care less. even if Jack wanted bottom surgery (he doesn't) or was gonna transition with hormones (he won't), she'd still be with him. she is 100% fine with it. all that changes for her is that she can try makeup looks on them first before she taints her Pretty Face and sometimes she'll have to remind herself to use they maybe.

ISAAC is super, SUPER giddy. very happy, all warm and fuzzy inside. of course he loves his cis siblings, but being able to bond over being some kind of trans and help Maddie and Jack explore more about their identities always makes him very, very happy. Isaac's the resident LGBT+ expert if you will. they know all the slang, they have the friends, the connections.. :) and even more than just "also trans!!", they're very grateful to be able to experience having another amab trans person in their family to relate to. plus. y'know. new face on which to apply makeup!!!! dress up time !!!

plus, since Isaac is undoubtedly the first person they'd come out to, he's very happy to be able to see that vulnerable side of his big brother that so rarely shows its face. lots of crying and bear hugs. also lots of Jack threatening to punch him if he tells anybody but that's Jack for ya

Eddie? doesn't really care either way- he, like Noah, isn't particularly fond of Jack, so he doesn't like interacting with them all that much and therefore has essentially no relationship with them outside of "they threaten to kill me if I ever break Isaac's heart"

Eli's also has a much less bombastic reaction. it doesn't really CHANGE all that much to him- it's the same person, but now they can share good opaque black lipstick brands. he and Jack are rarely mushy around each other, so it's not like Jack's gonna break down bawling in front of him despite how tightly knit they are, being twins nd all. he's very much "👍" to the whole revelation

Maddie's the interesting one imo... they and Jack have a pretty. strained. relationship. Jack can be quick to anger in certain situations and Maddie likes egging people on/acting like a general shitlord. which results in a lot of teasing, which Jack doesn't appreciate. they still love each other very much, but it's the kind of relationship where you can't be around the person for more than a specific amount of time before losing your shit.

Isaac and Mads discovered their gender shenaniganrey pretty close together so they've had a much longer time to get to properly know themselves in comparison. additionally, Jack still has that major struggle of forming an identity independent of his father. he's a very... lost person. and Maddie is the exact opposite. they've always been sure of who they are, they got on T pretty easily, everything went pretty smoothly.

I think... Jack would never really come out directly to Mads- it'd be something they would find out about second-hand from the rest of the family. which would hurt Mads pretty bad, even though they're aware of why Jack wouldn't feel comfortable telling them. but when they cool down over that, I think it'd make them a decent chunk closer to Jack because now they have something to relate to each other on other than a mutual love of causing problems on purpose. Maddie would have a lot of sympathy for Jack's identity struggles; the whole situation would open their eyes up to a lot of the things he struggles with in general. Maddie can be a pretty self-focused person and tends to ignore the emotional needs of other people, especially Jack because of several previously mentioned factors + the large age gap (Jack's 11 years older than them). so it'd be a pretty Enlightening time.

So, I wanted to make something for my Yuusona, Jackie!

Jackie is seventeen-years-old. They were born in 2006, on September first. (day I first downloaded twst)

Jackie is chubby. They're 5'4 with a pale complexion, but they also have hundreds of freckles. They have long and wavy brunette and blonde hair that naturally slightly curls at the bottom.

Jackie has hazel-gold eyes, they rarely every wear makeup due to their skin being extremely sensitive, which causes them to breakout when wearing makeup.

Jackie is afab, but they're nonbinary. They go by any pronouns and will wear almost any outfit given to them, execpt dresses, so long as they aren't all white. They prefer wearing black, pink, and blue.

Jackie is aroace. (like me :D)

Jackie mainly has a kind attitude towards most people, but they can be extremely chaotic and very blunt. Jackie enjoys teasing the Aduece duo. Jackie's favorite people to hang around with the first-year squad, Idia, Malleus, and Lilia.

When Jackie is angry, they refuse to show it until it results in them breaking down. They usually end up playing games with Idia to destress or listen to Malleus' rambling about gargoyles.

Despite their chaotic and kind disposition, Jackie dislikes crowds and is actually a major introvert due to them being a complete shut-in back home on Earth, they maintain a kind disposition due to their troubles with properly understanding people.

Jackie's best subject is magic history due to their near obsession with history. Their worst subject is potions, mainly due to their forgetfulness when it comes to ingredients and the fact that they've never made a potion before.

Jackie acts softer around Riddle. Riddle does notice some of the differences, and at times Jackie is called out on their favoritism, but they don't mind. Despite being the same age, Jackie takes somewhat of an older sibling role for him.

Jackie can understand Azul's reason for overblot. Jackie usually stops by the Monstro Lounge to check in on him, Azul believes it's due to Jackie's enjoyment of some of the food served.

Jackie and Kalim have a 50/50 type of friendship, Kalim is always trying to get Jackie to be more outgoing, while Jackie tries to get Kalim to tone things down a little. Jackie is slightly uncomfortable around Jamil, but they're willing to help him out when needed.

Jackie and Vil do not get along well. This stems from Jackie's dislike of Vil's treatment of Epel, and Vil dislikes Jackie due to their bluntness. Jackie has learned to tolerate Vil but takes Epel and run away when Vil takes out his makeup.

Jackie and Idia enjoy gaming with eachother. Idia teaches Jackie more tricks in fps games while Jackie helps Idia in rhythm games. Jackie enjoys Ortho's presence, though they can't help but feel worried about both Shroud brothers after learning about their past, Jackie has a tendency to dote on them.

As stated before, Jackie enjoys listening to Malleus talk about gargoyles. They also try help Malleus learn how to use some modern gadgets and some modern slang, results vary. Jackie also enjoys helping Lilia with some pranks. Jackie secretly also likes hanging around Lilia because he is one of the very few people who are smaller than them.

Jackie dislikes Vargas's loud voice, which causes them lots of headaches. Though, Vargas doesn't mind Jackie's bluntness due to them being somewhat good on a broom, thanks to Grim.

Jackie sees Trein as a father figure, this usually results in Jackie hanging around his class more often despite having a slight cat allergy. Trein doesn't mind this behavior, mainly because they share historical facts from their respective worlds, and Jackie doesn't mind taking care of Lucius.

Jackie and Crewel only get along because of their love for dogs. Jackie usually causes some troubles for Crewel due to their forgetfulness with ingredients.

Jackie dotes on Grim, resulting in the cat-monster being spoiled. Grim also tries to protect Jackie, which he claims is due to Jackie being the person who gives him the best deluxe tuna they can afford, in reality it's because Jackie usually ends up being the one to run and grab Grim before he gets hurt by anyone.

Jackie has bitten Crowley.

Jackie vibrates with chaos and pure rage whenever Rollo is around.

TELL ME

SONIC FORCES. Sonic Forces but good. Ok. Sonic Forces edgy 2010s live action reboot.

What I really wanna write about in my ideas (which are really just trying to fix the whole narrative) is Tails and Classic Sonic. Ok.

So, I imagine movie!Sonic to be essentially a younger and less experienced Sonic. Kind of the modern equivalent of like AoStH!Sonic, who was very goofy and always playing with people, and even more relevantly, the ones who just constantly dropped 90s slang every time they saw the chance. A silly, very energetic character- and this is subsequently how I imagine young Sonic. Enthusiastic and excited, and really wanting to be a hero- which is something that as Sonic grew older and more flippant, he grew out of. But younger Sonic was also genuinely happier. In a way that Sonic himself no longer is. Especially not after Forces.

I have some ideas about how Tails would play into the overall narrative, being that he is a kitsune and all, but specifically I think a lot about Tails meeting Classic Sonic. In a weak moment, desperate for anything that will keep him going, keep him brave, his fear literally influences the Phantom Ruby's reality bending to his own will, and conjures a rift in the fucking space time continuum to bring his brother back to him. But more specifically, his brother as he was when they met. When Tails was a lonely and lost four year old who needed someone to look after him and Sonic was a beaming, bright ray of confidence for Tails to look up to. The Sonic that comes back is Sonic as Tails sees him.

And more than that- he's Sonic at the age of eleven, bright-eyed and joyful.

And that isn't what Sonic is anymore.

INTERACTIONS? maika and her father don't speak very often . however he spoils her rotten but only because of him wanting her to look the best ,  his want for her to marry some classy man .   specifically his best friend . maika never found her father interesting and often felt uncomfortable with how he treated her.. leading to her becoming very distant near him .

INTERACTIONS? the relationship maika has with her mother is built upon fear . maika has witnessed how marianne treats victor and it often frightens her. marianne favors maika too, but to a point where maika wants to run away. she's often told by her mother that she's useless, stupid. but her mother says this is good, considering it makes her more appealing to , men. upon her mother's wishes, after she turns 18 she would end up getting engaged (forcefully) to her father's friend. her mother sees maika as an asset purely, a way to acquire better relations with other families. 

─◌♡̶ ⋆｡˚ ⍈ BROTHER ; victor criss , deceased INTERACTIONS? without a doubt , victor criss despises his sister . maika always tried to be there for him, always wanted him to just love her. victor rarely showed love for her, but nonetheless he was somewhat protective when it came to guys. after finding out about her brother's death, maika would spiral into a deep depression , never really recovering afterwards. all she wanted from her brother was love. because that's who should've been there for her.

INTERACTIONS? an older man than maika by many many years, the two barely showed affection. hidden perversion and lusting along with parental arrangements is what made this marriage occur. norville showed maika little affection unless it boosted his social standing or made him feel good. there was no love for her, only lust and greed. for their marriage she was a lay and a more importantly an asset. he didn't even want a family. somehow, maika passed away, and the man many blame for this tragedy is the one and only norville bates.

─◌⋆｡˚ ⍈ PERSONALITY ; maika is extremely dumb, extremely. mainly because her parents never told her to worry about education since she'd just marry some rich man. but she's also extremely kind, sweet and always means well. very against cursing, maika prefers to use extremely tacky slang and code words for curse words— she literally believes curse words curse you. if you're ever lonely she's the person who's gonna try and give you company, if you're at a party and are drunk she's the one who's going to drive you home.

Those Doll!anon fics were really amazing! I really wanna do something like it if you don’t mind. Could I maybe get a Yorkie!MC? Like, a really short, really friendly MC until they feel like they or one of the brothers/undateables are being threatened or insulted, then they try to pick a fight they’d obviously lose? I’m just laughing at the mental imagine of this short, unthreatening human yelling at and trying to square up against a demon lol.

He is LOVING your energy

Your happiness is so contagious, it just adds onto his already cheery demeanor. He honestly feels his cheeks hurting from smiling even more when you’re around (and he doesn’t even care!)

He’s gonna buy Lucifer so much Demonus as a thank you for picking you for the exchange program. Seriously, you’re PERFECT (for him)

As the President of Student Council and future King, he loves seeing you interact with the other students, and he’s glad that they’re reacting positive to you. At least some of them do

Now, no one is to foolish (or powerful) enough to threaten Diavolo or do anything to you that can bring you harm. They can try, but they won’t be getting the results that they hope for

But he can’t help it but find it amusing when you try to “defend his honor” when someone bad mouths him. He makes sure to not let it show (gotta be professional after all) but he does tease you about it later. You’re so small and seeing you just yelling square up to this demon is hilarious. He has no idea what geometry has to do with this, but he’s learned some new slang thanks to you!

He’s finally found someone who’ll go along with his antics and more. Whereas other people may complain about him wanting to do fun activities that seem basic, you just flash a big smile, grab his hand and tell him to lead the way

(You even made matching friendship bracelets and he refuses to take it off, ever)

You really make him happy MC. He doesn’t remember the last time he’s ever felt this lighthearted, and he doesn’t feel the sense of loneliness that he felt himself getting used too

Also Lucifer gets twice the headache now, but the Demonus helps it go away (temporarily)

Ah, so another Luke, except older and that you take your threats of violence very serious, if what he sees (both in the present and the future) holds true (which it does)

You’re still harmless in his eyes though

Your friendly personality makes it easy for you to be forgiven for a lot of things…even if your actions make him give you the side eye at times

Despite how energetic you are (which is something that he’ll never grow tired of) your presence has a relaxing effect on him. Even if he has to warn you sometimes to be careful with the way that you bounce around so much, especially when he’s in the kitchen

He unfortunately can’t be by your side as he is Lord Diavolo’s butler, but that doesn’t mean that he can’t keep watch on you, even without the use of his powers

With how outgoing you are, you’re bound to attract trouble, in which you do at a constant rate. What was comical however, is that it seemed like the trouble you attracted was on his behalf

“MC, what seems to be the issue here?”

You were too busy trying to savor the delicious flavor to focus on what just happen, which was his plan all along. You get to try more of his delicious treats and he gets to enjoy your touch and company. Crisis averted!

He’s crafty enough to have plans to evade you “fighting” and you haven’t caught on yet (or maybe you did and just feign ignorance? Either way works for him)

It doesn’t bother him what people say about him, he doesn’t care in the slightest (and they’re not bold enough to say it to his face). What he cares about is making sure that you keep your carefree energy, and that he keeps to see you with your radiating smile on your face

He has reprimanded you each time when you try to fight others. He knows that demons see him as weak and talk behind his back, but he chooses to ignore them, to turn the other cheek. But just because he does, doesn’t mean that you do, and he sees that now

Simeon really doesn’t want you to fight, and it’s not even because it’s against his nature (it’s part of the reason, just not the whole reason). Fighting leads to injury, and injury leads to distress, and that’s the last thing that he wants to happen to you. And he’s not going to let anything happen to you!

He truly believes it’s a waste of time and energy, and you could find better things to do. For example, by spending time with him!

Luke

Is immediately upset that you don’t stay in Purgatory Hall with him, and even more upset that you don’t live in the Celestial Realm

You’re like the best older sibling he’s never had! And you don’t treat him like a baby either!

Or he’s just admiring you too much to notice

You never hesitate to help him with anything; baking, homework, pretty much anything and everything. He may try to make it seem like you need his assistance, but we all know it’s the other way around (with the exception of Luke himself)

We all know that Luke gets teased by the brothers and even his roommates sometimes (looking at you Solomon), but it’s just harmless teasing (for the most part). It’s when he hears what the other students say about him that gets to him- he tries to show that it doesn’t bother him and he tries to stand up for himself but- their words really hurt him

And no one hurts Luke and gets away with it

You already get onto the brothers for their teasing when it starts to bother him, and now the brothers have to jump in to stop you from trying to rip this demon horns’ off

You can’t really reach them and they’re pretty sure you won’t do any damage, but they rather not take the chance of you getting hurt

It’s not the first or last time that you do this either, and it just makes him feel horrible. He’s the angel here, the one that’s suppose to protect you, not the other way around!

You help him out so much, either without defending him you do so much for him already. How can he ever repay you? He feels like whatever he does won’t be enough…WAIT- he figured out what he can do!

He can get stronger and protect you! He can go to Beel so that you don’t have to fight for him anymore, or maybe have Solomon make some potions that’s like demon repellent but only for those jerks. If those mean demons see how serious and strong he is, then they’re bound to leave you guys alone! Maybe he can show you some tricks too once he’s done. He has to hurry up and tell you the plan then, you guys can’t wait any longer!

Their words do hurt, but so does seeing you putting yourself in harms way to protect him. You can’t do all the protecting MC, he needs to watch out for you too, no if ands or buts about it!

You’re a daily source of his amusement and someone that he wants MC, but that doesn’t mean he can afford his favorite human getting hurt on his watch!

He’s no stranger to the gossip about him, nor is he clueless. It’s just all talk anyway, he doesn’t care and neither should you. But it is touching to know that you care this much about him and how he feels…

But he doesn’t want you to do this for him. He’s a powerful sorcerer, he can easily solve this without breaking a sweat if he wanted to, but he doesn’t deem it worthy to even waste a drop of potions on. But since you’re so concerned, maybe a quick kiss would make him feel better?

He thought you were a little gullible, but that’s not the case. You just have a very open and bright personality, one that he finds himself getting attached to more and more as each day passes

~Metal Family headcanons~

These are like my... general hcs)? which means I didn't include my main hc that Glam, Ches and Vicky are polyamorous, married and started dating after Glam met Vicky, and absolutely everything that implies for the kids and the relationships between each member of the fam. Maybe I'll make a separate post for that or maybe not! Who knows lkfwnlfqnf

Glam

Bisexual

Glam has constant nightmares and ocasional night terrors ever since he ran away home and is an active sleep walker. Ches helped him through the worse ones when they were younger, and learned how to deal with them, always preferring not to wake him up but being with him until the episode passed. Vicky has learned how to deal with them, though she normally asks Ches for advice with it cuz she comes out short sometimes.

He has PTSD. I bet it's diagnosed too, he takes medication and goes to therapy, it doesn't mean he still doesn't have his bad days anyway. He's trying to get better.

Glam has talked to Vicky about his past, his father and his family. This is a direct contradiction of Alina's confirmation that Glam doesn't talk about it with anyone but man FUCK THAT. We love good communication in this house, Vicky tries her best to help him, but there's only so much she can do to help.

Glam enjoys gardening, cooking and making models, he also likes doing his make up, painting his nails and dressing up in fancy, extravagant clothes even if he has nowhere important to go.

He likes taking care of everyone's hair, and constantly helps Vicky brush her hair cuz there's so much of it, Dee when he gets stressed over how tangled it can get, buys Ches hair products so he actually takes care of it, and chases Heavy so the kid actually washes, untangles and brushes his hair.

This one is kind of weird, but I refuse to think any adult in the family is unarmed at any time. Glam owns a taser and pepper spray. They're bright pink and sparkly.

This man cried his eyes out while watching Coco. He's hell to watch movies with cuz he talks and predicts what's gonna happen during the movie, judges them with scores at the end and all.

Vicky

Also bisexual!

Vicky's the one who does everyone's laundry most of the time. She prefers it that way since she's the only one that knows how to wash their black clothes so the colors stay vibrant. (This is based on my gf shaming everyone but Vicky cuz their black clothes always look so muted and almost gray, but Vicky's whole outfit is always the same vibrant black colors, so we decided that neither Glam or the kids know how to wash dark clothes)

She has anger issues, if it isn't obvious. I think she also has PTSD, mainly survivor's guilt due to her surviving the accident her brother died in. She blames herself and cannot bear to talk about it, in some sort of deep denial. If she can't remember, it can't hurt as much, right?

She has scars on the right side of her back and her hip, from the road rash she got on her brother's accident, she never treated it due to grief and it scarred badly. Apart from that, the scar of the caesarean section from Heavy's birth. She doesn't really mind both of them, they happened, nothing to do about them.

She likes watching boxing competitions, brawling matches and motorcycle repairing on TV. Loves doing BBQ's and going to the pool. Also an enjoyer of teasing her kids, kissing and loving her husband at random times, spending time drinking and bonding with Ches and bragging about her family and punching anyone who thinks they're not that cool.

Not particularly a fan of make up, skirts and dresses or any traditionally femenine-perceived stuff. But has been making exceptions due to Glam and Ches being unashamed of being seen as femenine, and actually rocking the looks. The internalized misogyny is kind of slowly dissapearing.

Apart from the guns she carries in each arm (I mean her biceps, have you looked at the size of those?? She strong) she has brass knuckles on her at all times. Glam gifts her new ones sometimes, she loves having multiple choices to punch people teeth in.

Loves horror, thrillers and action movies. Falls asleep during rom-coms and dramas. Ironically, loves gossip and talking shit about people. Enjoys hearing Ches talks about the gossip going on in the nursery home even if she doesn't know who the hell he's talking about.

Heavy

Heavy is a trans boy! He doesn't know his sexuality yet though, he's still figuring himself out. When he's older, i think he definitely dated some men but had better luck with girls.

Heavy has had innocent crushes on some girls on his class before, but they never turn into anything more cuz he's not the best at expressing himself. He follows the bother-the-girl-to-death-until-she-hates-you gimmick, and unsurprisingly, it doesn't work.

I'm sorry to break this to u but Heavy totally had an among us phase, and uses so much reddit and twitch slang... You know he does.

Likes bullying and teasing his brother to death. You know that when Dee had his first romance, Heavy was ALL up in his business being a tease and a bad attempt at a wingman. He means well tho.

He's not squeamish at all. Also has great pain resistance. This kid has picked cockroaches with his bare hands and loves cats, of course the cats have scratched him. He's tough!

Grows up to be the charming himbo he was always destined to be.

Dee

I hc him as demisexual. Kind of inherited his dad's tastes for the takes no crap, intimidating but pretty kind of people.

Can't cook. He tries but he can only do basics like rice, cereal, chicken nuggets or eggs. Complicated meals always burn or don't taste like anything at all. It drives him crazy.

Dee was a quiet and very well behaved toddler before Heavy was born. He never threw tantrums or got whims. After Heavy was born though, and despite the fact he understood his brother was small and needed special care, he started craving attention often and cried and got mad at little things. Typical jealousy of the oldest sibling.

The first time Dee fell in love with someone, he didn't recognize it was love at first. He just thought his interest on the person was born out of curiosity and aesthetic attraction, but as soon as he realized he seeked validation and companionship, that he liked seeing them smile, that he wanted to protect them, that he yearned for more time alone with them and that he wanted more than what just a simple friendship implied, it was an instant 'oh hell no'. He wanted those feelings to get the hell away, but unfortunately, they were there to stay.

Canonically likes MLP, psychological and horror anime like Death note and Hellsing, so I'm deciding he also watched Death Parade, had a FNAF phase, is very into The Walten Files. This guy enjoys any kind of specially dark ARG's and knows a ton of lore of real crime, unsolved cases, ghost appearances and other stuff. Doesn't believe in the supernatural, but sure is entertained by it.

He's a mess at romance. Flirting? His attempts at compliments are hardly flattering. Giving gifts? The best he can manage is jewelry and you can kind of tell he asked his dad for help. Dates? He's so nervous he's silent for most of it, but begins getting comfortable and having fun if his partner really knows how to get him down from his negativity cloud.

Ches

Pansexual.

He's very good with kids. He has the patience of a saint and he's laid-back, chill and fun but still is an authority figure who knows how to put limits. Sure, he's gonna let the kids light up a house on fire BUT hey, now they know everything about fire precautions, burns and how to treat them AND how to get away with arson. What an educational evening, am I right?

Due to certain info from the "Goodbye" official comic, I headcanon Ches as depressed. I don't want to elaborate a lot 'cuz of spoilers, but... God, everything related to his mom fucking hurts, man. How did he deal with all that?

Ches has been Dee and Heavy's babysitter so many times he cannot count them with all his fingers. He learned how to put those kids to sleep almost immediately (Sing Bon Jovi's "This ain't a love song" and any cheesy love song in a slow lullaby style and they're out), which movie were their favorite as kids (Heavy loved 'Monsters Inc.' and Dee never looked away during 'Meet the Robinsons'), how to console them after nightmares (Heavy needed reassurance, sweet words, and to be with someone until he fell asleep again. Dee just had to be tucked in, get his nightlight turned on and kissed in the forehead). He practically raised those kids along with Vicky and Glam.

More than once, Dee and Heavy have slipped and called Ches "Dad". Ches immediately gets his shit eating grin on and answers "Yes, son?" and does a couple of dad jokes just to mess and embarrass them. He's actually very flattered and surprised at how proud of himself he is for being a father figure to both kids.

Has a scar on the left side of his forehead due to a bottle his mom threw at him when he was younger, around the time he met Glam. He hates the scar with passion, it's a permanent reminder of the fact she never cared, that's why he always keeps it covered with his headband. Gets sad about it sometimes.

Ches likes to spend his time with a group of grannies of the nearby nursing home. He genuinely considers them his friends and gossips and hangs out with all of them on weekends. Bingo, billiards, walks in the park, soap opera marathons, you name it. I even designed them, gave them names and backstories... God, i just love the concept too much. I'll make some art about Ches and his granny gang FOR SURE, you're NOT ready for them.

Carries a pocket knife on him at all times. This man grew up on a bad neighborhood and absolutely knows how to defend himself, he can be intimidating when he wants to be and will pose a threat if needed. He's fucking terrifying when genuinely mad. Just cause he looks harmless doesn't mean he is, darling.

hi! just wanna ask!

i have like a few scenes in the beginning where my character is like around 7-9 years old and i'm having trouble writing a letter from his perspective. like, how would a kid write a letter 😭

it's supposed to be sent to his best friend after he fled the country because of a coup (oh btw this character is a little prince and his best friend's a commoner) and now he's in hiding with his mom and older brother but his dad's back in their country :((

so yeah that's it. tl;dr -> character is 7-9 years old; how would a kid write a letter in terms of grammar and lingo and all that?

Young Prince Writes a Letter to Bestie

Here's the thing...

Generally-speaking, 7 to 9 is a pretty broad range, as the average 7-year-old wouldn't be as grammatically advanced as the average 9-year-old, if this was an average kid, his specific age would matter.

But, having said that, there are a lot of variables that can affect how a child sounds at a certain age. Some kids are just better at picking up grammar, lingo, and patterns of speech than others. Some kids are just better educated. So, if this were an average kids, I would also say in addition to taking their specific age into account, what really matters is that you just make their grammatical capabilities make sense in the story. If you write them as a kid who's well-educated or just generally smart, it makes sense that they might sound a bit advanced. But if you write them like a very average 7-year-old whose speech patterns are typical of a child that age, it wouldn't make sense if they sound much older in the letters they write.

And... we're not talking about an average kid here anyway... we're talking about a prince. Royal children are often very well educated from an early age, and since formal correspondence would be a fairly important part of royal duties, it's believable that some royal children might be capable of sounding a bit more advanced than the average kid.

On top of that, we also have to take specifics of the situation into account. When and where does this story take place? Prince George of Wales, for example, probably is probably experiencing a pretty normal education for a well-to-do child. But go back only as far as his great-great-Uncle Edward (who was the crown prince from 1894 to 1936) and it's a stricter education with private tutors, specifically geared to educating a future king... where the child is learning foreign languages, world politics, current events, world history, diplomacy, military strategy/history, and lots of things that would be pretty intense for the average elementary school aged student.

Not to mention the fact that grammar, lingo, and slang are all going to be pretty specific to the time and place the child is from.

So, the answer to your question is: 1 - Research the time and place your character is from (or if it's an imaginary place, look for a close real world match to use as inspiration) to learn how they spoke, what kind of lingo might have been used, and what kind of slang was typical. 2 - See how real royal children in that time and place were educated to figure out whether your character would have had a fairly average education, an above-average education, or a super-intense "raising a future monarch" education. 3 - Consider the character in general... are they of average or above average intelligence? Is there an adult helping them compose the letters? Are they tailoring the way they sound to be understood more easily by the child they're writing to? All you have to do is make it make sense with what you lay out in your story, and you're good to go! :)

Jack Frost Designs Review

Yes it’s finally his time. This is going to include his book designs including previous incarnations in said books. There are more movie concept designs than book so, let’s dig in shall we?

This was in fact the first ever Jack Joyce designed while he came up with The Guardians Of Childhood. He even comes with his own backstory! (Which was cut. Sorry Joyce posts walls of text so it’s a girthy read.)

So instead of a young mischievous trickster, we got a much more depressing story of Jack. (Jack by default is sad obviously) but this one... It kind of hits differently and almost reminds me of the story he crafted for Pitch. A dad who tried to defend his family but through tragic events was ripped from them and changed completely. Design wise, he’s a lot more tree than snow. There doesn’t exist a colored version of this so we’ll never know if he sported winter and dull dead leaf colors rather than grassy greens.This Jack has a weird presence to him, I can’t put my finger on it. Rating: 6/10 He’s really neat! Just a little too Autumn feeling rather than a blend of both Autumn and Winter.

Nightlight feels like the baby evolution if Jack was a pokemon and that's what I’m gonna stick with. Below is a more recent version of him colored.

In all honesty that one is easier on the eyes proportion wise because sometimes Joyce has ‘interesting’ anatomy choices but we aint going into that today. It’s interesting how his hair somehow looks shorter and longer than Jack’s at the same time. Could be because the longer strands float seamlessly but star boy hair physics what can ya do. It’s a little hard to tell what is his skin and what is his armor, so that is a casuality in making a character only have one or two colors in their color scheme. I love other artist’s depictions of Nightlight but the canon one feels a little weak color wise. Rating: 5/10 Sorry, get some better LEDs and then come back.

Here we have a book Jack but I can’t entirely recall if this was used in the books or not. I digress. This design looks like him still wearing very Nightlight-esque armor/clothing and slowly growing into his new persona as Jack Frost. The intricacies are hard to make out but we’ll work with it. This one is very interesting to me because he very much looks like an older teen close to young adult. His hair looks very fluffy too. Not many complaints about this one but not much praise either.

Rating: 6/10 Not great but doesn’t stand out that much.

Remember when I said Joyce had ‘interesting’ anatomy decisions? Jack looks like he has half a head here and it bothers me GREATLY. This is the adult Jack design he went with. Supposedly he likes the opera and he sure looks it. This! Exists!! Kind of wish it didn’t. The outfit is nice but it just doesn’t fit Jack as a whole. This just screams to me that it’s someone else with a similar-ish hairstyle.

Rating: 3/10 Guess he’d be the...Phantom Of The Opera. (I’ll go home and so should he.)

And finally the final Jack. This is the one that almost exactly resembles the Jack we got in the movies(Probably because it was made after the movie but w/e) but just add a cape on him. I can’t really tell if hes got a hoodie and a cape, or just a cloak+hood on top of a sweatshirt. It isn’t too important because my thoughts on this one are obvious. Rating: 10/10 Edna Mode would have a field day with you boy.

MOVIE DESIGN TIME

Joyce claims this is a design he drafted when Leonardo DiCaprio was considered to voice Jack and I can kind of see that with how his face is drawn here. This Jack looks a lot more like a warrior and less of that trickster look. I can’t say I’m a fan of the weird antenna his hood has but his sword is really cool looking.

Rating: 4/10 Nice bow and sword but it can’t save your fashion choices.

This looks like a lanky 11-13 year old who would put rocks or slugs in my shoes and relish in my disgust. He has the exact look of a snot nose kid and I’m unsure how to feel about it.

His various hairstyles drafted here sort of make him softer looking or just more of a snot nose, no in between. Maybe even an Anime Protagonist.

The top right one almost looks like Hiccup from How To Train Your Dragon if you squint. It’ll be a little hard to rate them all as one individual but why not.

Rating: 5/10 I don’t hate them but they aren’t my cup of tea.

AH- IS THAT A FUCKIN GREMLIN?

Oh wait no it isn’t he looks like a 10 year old. Whatever don’t feed him after midnight. The staff’s design of not being shaped like a G is an interesting tidbit but the whole design looks like he’s really young or like a troll etc. This Jack looks like he thinks girls have cooties uses outdated slang.

Rating: 4/10 This is me being generous.

It honestly looks like he hiked his pants up all the way to his chest. A late teen with horrid fashion choices once again. Not many other thoughts here.

Rating: 2/10 Get a sweater on or something.

This is one is very interesting looking to me. His clothes looked a lot more leather based and very human-like. The tatters, tears and frays all make him look like he was a victim of an accident that never changed his clothes. It makes me wonder if this Jack had the same death as the final movie Jack or something else entirely. Either way, this one looks like hes a mid to late teen which really adds to my intrigue.

This was another image that greatly resembled the design so I included it here. It almost looks like his skin is blue here which is pretty neat to me at least. He’s also got leaf motifs here, which from the first Jack design Joyce made, we can see a pattern here.

Rating: 8 /10 I was originally weirded out by his head but now its not so bad.

This Jack is definitely dressed more like a nature boy rather than him having human influenced fashion and it’s an appealing touch. The tiny leaf sprouting from his staff is also kind of cute since the designers seemed to want to put leafs somewhere on his designs. His hairstyle is also very cute but it reminds me of Sasuke Uchiha in a sense. (Not a setback for me at least)

Rating: 7/10 13 year old Jack is going thru a phase.

I thought this Jack didn’t show up again in story boards but I was wrong!

They look a little different from each other but just similar enough to pair together, so bare with me. The first one obviously has looser pants, slightly longer sleeves and got his leaf motif going. This second Jack is a VERY green. It gives the impression that this Jack made his clothes out of plants and natural materials. Again I’m not wholly sure if greens fit his color scheme but they sure went for it for a while. I can’t say I’m a fan of it because it heavily reminds me of Peter Pan.

However a very similar looking Jack could be found in this storyboard. It doesn’t look as green as the other storyboards made it out to be and looks more like dead grass. Which is a pretty nice touch.

Rating: 5/10 I don’t hate it but it just doesn’t vibe yknow.

Speaking of a vibe...hoo this certainly has one.  This Jack isn’t old but certainly doesn’t look very young, maybe in the 20-30 range, thats just me. He has facial features that remind me of Pitch but resembles the Jack Frost of Santa Clause 3

That being said, I wondered if him looking similar to Pitch was in the storyline of them being brothers.(Which was a scrapped thing, who knew.) He’s a bit more menacing in this design but certainly seems like he relishes in his work.

Rating: 4/10 I’d make it a lower score but I gotta give it props

NOW THIS JACK IS KINDA INTERESTING. This one looks like he’s 16 and going through a grunge phase. He’s gonna play Nirvana loudly and not turn it down even if you tell him too. His staff itself has mini icicles hanging off of it and leafs look stuck to his shirt. Did you glue or staple those on Jack? His hair also looks much longer than his other designs and I kind of dig it( Shut up I’m bias.) I’m not wholly sure why else this design has stuck with me but it just has something about it that I just love. I wish there was a full body drawing of it.

(He also kinda has the same hair as the Jack Frost in Runescape but I wont go on about that hoo hoo)

Rating: 9/10 *Bad Boy by Cascada plays in the distance*

This one definitely feels like middleschooler trying to be in a band. His sticks just resemble drumsticks to me what can I say. I’m a big fan of his shoes and his color scheme screams a hibernating tree in winter. His hair also looks like it’s covered in frost rather than it being wholly white, which is very neat!! He looks like he wants to fight but has slight hesitance. Overall a very balanced Jack.

Rating: 8/10 He’s ready for band practice

Not many thoughts here, I just found these tiny Jack designs cute. His hoodie being a jacket instead just adds to the charm of this one.

No talk to him he angy.

Rating: 6/10 fun sized boi

Now this Jack resembles the one earlier that dressed entirely in leather brown colors, however he clearly is different than that one. I’m gonna say it, he looks like a zombie or undead in this design and its pretty fucking gnarly. I don’t know whats going on with his hair but I’m gonna assume it’s just the wind making it look like that. He just has the vibe that he was once human but was turned into something else entirely. It isnt in uncanny territory but borders that. This version of Jack meeting Pitch and the others would have been *very* interesting. Rating: 7/10 Eat a twinkie Jack you’ll feel better.

The final design! I can’t complain much about this one. The way his staff subtly has a G shape and a hexagon(his signature shape) is a wonderful touch. Additionally, the way the frost is gathered mostly where his hand is such an intricate detail. His signature hoodie is iconic at this point so I can’t bad mouth that either.(I can’t anyway because there's no complaints from me here.) Although, I never understood the leather straps that his pants had or their functions. I couldn’t find any colonial outfits that resembled Jack’s pants so its a total mystery to me at least.

And I can’t go on about this design until I mention the snowflake pattern in his eyes

Pure beauty. It’s at a hue of blue that almost looks impossible to have, combined with the electric blue color of the snowflake in his eyes. The amount of detail in this movie amazes me to this day. Rating: One Great Blizzard <3/10
