If you're not from Argentina, please read this carefully
I have no words to describe the pain I feel. after 40 years of democracy, my country elected a party whose only goal is to be a colony once again, to sell the country to Elon Musk, to the USA and the UK, to have our sovereignty impugned and erased.
I remember the video of USAmerican congressists calling Argentina an "important asset for the United States". I remember when we told all of you to be vigilant because this was gonna turn into a genocide.
Tomorrow, the Mega DNU (Decree of Necessity and Urgency) is going to overrule most of our constitutional rights, and yesterday the Omnibus Law was presented to congress, including measures that make it illegal to gather in public without permission (state of siege), and make it so that protest is a crime. We will have to pay for the bullets that kill us, and cops will have absolute legal immunity to hunt us.
Word for word, a dictatorship. Fascism.
We've already gone through this many times, but I want to see worldwide protests about this. I want the UN to intervene. I want the world to make noise.
What worries me is this is not an isolated case. With many genocides going on worldwide, if the world fails Argentina, this will be the blueprint for all of the world.
Make no mistake, what happens here will happen everywhere there's natural resources and sovereignty. If not through overt genocide, through an extremely libertarian far right that wins elections by manipulating people, funded by Elon Musk. A second Operation Cóndor.

What did you do while the children of Gaza were dying?
I argued with their killers.
What did you say?
I said that the innocent deserve innocence. That the sound of laughter is better than nightmares, and briefer. That the cost of killing may be higher than the price of dying.
Did they listen?
Do killers ever listen? They are deafened by their weapons’ drone and by the grate of their own voices raging, denying.
Why were they angry?
They said that they needed to feel safe.
Safe from the children?
They said there are no children in Gaza, only young combatants.
And the babies?
They said they are little snakes that will grow, and it is better to kill them in their nests.
And what of the teachers? The singers? The artists? The fathers? The mothers?
They said that all who live there are terrorists. And as for the mothers, they said it is they who bear the little snakes.
Did your protestations do any good?
No. I lost my breath, I lost my words, I lost my heart. But had I not argued, I would have lost my soul.
Did any children survive?
In body, yes. In spirit, it is not sure.
The children who lived, what will become of them?
Their eyes will sear holes in the night sky. Remember this when you look at the stars:
that it is the burning eyes of Gaza’s children that hold your gaze.

also idk. saying superhero movies as a genre have connections to fascism is just flatly correct, whether you enjoy them or not.
I just personally still enjoy a lot of superheroes and work to find stories that aren't as connected or admit when they wholly are as a flaw. Because, as being such a huge part of popular culture, it makes sense to me that superheroes would reflect our (speaking as usamerican but I don't think it's exclusive) culture itself- one that holds and often celebrates many fascist ideas.
Denying this does you no good. you can still like Batman and spiderman while realizing this. the answer isn't "superheroes are inherently bad" but rather "many fascist stories have been told about superheroes & if I still choose to immerse myself in this genre I should learn to recognize and understand them. what are these elements and themes? why have they been included? who would it benefit for this story to say this?"

do you want to see an example of how the media covertly goes to bat for corporations in order to justify the continued abuse and exploitation of the working class?
in this article which reveals that nearly one hundred Pizza Hut franchises are laying off workers ahead of a minimum wage increase, they say the increase will be "close to 30%"
the increase from $16.00 to $20.00 is an even 25%
but the author of this article took it upon themselves to round up 25% to 30% for.... reasons?
oh and by the way, these companies are switching to DoorDash and other third party delivery services.
let's talk about the real problem here first: this isn't about saving costs. it's about skirting responsibility. by shoving delivery off to third parties, these franchises dodge the bullet of employee benefits, workers' compensation, fair wages and all of the other things that come along with being an employee of a multi-billion dollar corporation. they're shifting the burden onto gig workers who often lack the protections traditional employees have.
you should pay attention to how media outlets like to use phrases like "strategic move" and "market adaptation" instead of calling it what it is: cutting corners at the expense of workers' livelihoods. they paint a picture of businesses "adapting to changing markets," while completely ignoring the human cost of these decisions.
and let's not forget the rounding up of numbers on the California minimum wage increase. from 25% to 30%? that's not just a rounding error. it's a subtle way to push a narrative - that the wage increase is so steep, so unreasonable, that poor corporations have no choice but to lay off staff. it's a classic tactic: inflate the issue, so the drastic measures seem justified.
next time you read about these "corporate strategies," ask yourself: who's really paying the price for these cost-saving measures? spoiler: it's not the execs at the top.

They can not stop self victimizing even when they are committing genocide...
You people are so violently complacent in your safety that you do not see what other people have been screaming for months. I hate zionists with my whole heart because of how disgustingly selfish they are. And you have no one to blame for that hate other than yourselves. There truly is nothing I can wish on these people that will amount to the horror they sit by and critique like some sideshow circus. You people are the reason the world is so terrible, people who are content with letting bad things happen without doing anything. I hope you realize how terrible you sound one day and live the rest of your lives in unending regret and shame. Or better yet, I hope this is the message that snaps you into that shame.

You were right about tankies. They do not talk about tiananmen square. They do not talk about Tibet. They do not talk about uyghur. Wtf. No how is this possible? What?
The thing is that most white and western leftists are exactly as racist, imperialist, ethnocentric and tinhatted as right-wingers. For Global South people there's literally no difference in interacting with them sometimes, even if they talk more sense by virtue of their leftist politics. In that, they have a lot in common with liberals; they say all the right things until they're challenged in any meaningful way, which is when the mask slips.
Self-serving, egoistic people aren't saved by reading a bunch of political posts and books. True dedication to social justice requires humility first and foremost, a solid set of ethical and moral hard lines in engagement, and constant self-interrogation. It has to be moved by compassion for your fellow human and sense of accountability, not ideological fanaticism as result of personal disenfranchisement and sense of victimization at being excluded from privilege. Marxists (not even just Tankies) love to accuse conservatives and liberals of unquestioning ideological servitude and selfishness without ever looking in the mirror. They have absolutely no racial or decolonial praxis because that primarily involves listening and centering colonized and Global South people, instead of amplifying themselves to virtue-signal and chase clout.
In essence they're just bad human beings, exactly like every other self-victimizing, self-aggrandizing Zionist, TERF and MAGA-hat (both red and blue) that treat accountability like a personal threat and place ideology over human beings. That's why I say it's important to separate politics from your morals and ethics. Your politics are supposed to change but your moral and ethical foundation cannot.
Personally I take great comfort in being proven wrong about my beliefs almost daily. At least 95% of everything I have ever assumed to be true has been proven wrong, which is what gives me more confidence in the remaining 5%. I love being wrong because knowing that means I'm doing something right. I see so many people on here be the same way, it's honestly lovely and gives me faith and hope for humanity. That's real leftism.
