before richmond, which teams did beard support? in football or any sport in general

beard hadn’t necessarily been an association football fan before richmond. i think he was more fans of individuals than he was of teams, i.e. being a fan of johan cruyff and probably even thierry henry. but with other sports, beard was very much devoted to quite a few teams.

I’ve said this before, but beard’s first ever sports love was baseball. oh man, is he a baseball fan. being from Illinois, his biggest team is the chicago cubs. and trust me. he takes his cubs very seriously. he has brought henry and ted to various games over the years, hoping to turn them both into baseball fans.

when it comes to american football, definitely likes various teams. Kansas City chiefs, naturally, and of course the team he and ted coached together…he probably likes a lot of teams, but he’s very staunch on who he doesn’t like….aka the new york jets. he does not like them, and never will.

Jayvik Modern AUs are hilarious to me because my boy Jayce is NOT playing any sports. He is NOT a jock. He is a gymbro nerd who tries to get his rich sister to play DnD with him, spends his days at the chemistry lab, plays chess and one day he suddenly needs to help the football team covering for someone because people think he must like sports. He doesn't even get along with everyone. He tries, of course, but he isn't the golden boy until the extremely rich and popular girl, president of the student-council, goes all "Popular! You're gonna be popular!" Glinda on him until he becomes popular thinking he's doing something good for the school when he isn't and he's getting carried away by fame and parties when all he truly wants is being with his lab partner Viktor. At the end of the day, Arcane truly was just like High School tbh.

Im not usually a sports guy tbh so despite my love of soccer and the fact that the art looks cool I didnt really care about watching Blue Lock, beyond an initial "omg soccer anime!!"

Modern AU Astrid would like rollerderby I think. She'd be on a team with Ruff and Heather. She'd be a blocker, along with Heather (you get to shove people) and I feel like Ruff would be a good jammer. The rest of their friends come to cheer them on at matches and even practice sometimes

Another great part of rollerderby is you get to pick a cool name for yourself! Heather literally already has the perfect one, "Heather the Unhinged" goes so unbelievably hard

Astrid would also do kickboxing. On the side. Also for their first date Hiccup takes her axe throwing in an attempt to woo her with something she enjoys. (Totally not so he can stare at her biceps while she throws.. what Totally Not. He's so unbelievably intimidated by her strength; he is head over heels) He thinks it's worth it even if he looks pathetic in comparison (it's okay tho she helps him out)

I occasionally see posts/get messages about the various harry potter references in the bright sessions, etc. and I've gotten a bunch of new followers recently so just so any new/younger listeners of my shows know:

jk rowling is a terrible transphobe whom I hold zero respect for and I haven't given a dime of my money to her since she revealed who she truly is. I want the whole bright universe to be a safe space for trans people (including the trans folks in our cast and crew!) and if I could go back and remove those references, I would. but I can't! harry potter was an extremely significant part of my life until...well, until it became very clear who she really was. it makes me so sad to think that folks might be finding TBS now and get thrown out of the story by these references, but just know that the people who made the show do not stand by jk, and that in many ways, the show is a product of its time.

Ahsoka is probably the person everyone means when they say “I know a guy”. Girl knows a bunch of senators, some ragtag rebels, many criminals, a handful of Imperialists, and a couple other random people dotted across the galaxy. If you ever need to find someone, you just call Ahsoka. Chances are high that she knows exactly who they are. Chances are even higher that she knows someone else who knows them. She runs around enough that it’s not that hard for her to just ram into them. Her one exception is Ezra Bridger, because apparently knowing a guy personally means it’s impossible to find him for over a decade.

two silly thoughts from me still thinking too much about UA teaching logistics:

1. I think given all might's time limit at the beginning of the series, they really can't have given him a homeroom class to look after - but I do think it would be very funny if nedzu did it anyway. yeah I know you're just here for OFA purposes and that you can only be in hero form for like 3 hours per day, but you do have to spend like 15 minutes of that looking after 20 random wide-eyed business course kids. no slackers allowed

2. each year presumably has the same class structure as what we see for class a's year - 2 hero classes and 1 of each of the others - [ETA: oops no they don't, it's apparently 2 hero classes and THREE of each of the others??? consider this now a non-canon-compliant joke:] but it seems at least vaguely plausible that the additional hero class is a more recent addition brought on either by hero commission pressure to churn out more heroes per year, or - funnier option - as a counterbalance for the fact that aizawa is expelling like 50% of the hero course anyway, so you have to start out with a bigger pool

Whenever I feel bad about symptoms from my illnesses, I think of my sibling's horse growing up, whose name was Batman and who was so allergic to grass he had to be wrapped up like a christmas present every summer to prevent rashes. I don't know if that makes me feel better exactly, but if Batman could cope and continue to mosey around like the gentle old man he was, then maybe I can cope with being completely bedridden certain days.
