It's not so much that Jade ah does not give a fuck about PDA you understand, he gives many many fucks. All the posts being horrified at people shipping Edwin with the Cat King make me laugh.

The delirium of being alarmed because the Cat King would be an adult and Edwin a minor kills me with laughter.

Edwin is certainly a 16 year old ghost, but... it's all in his description. A ghost. And he's been a ghost for a long, long time.

Are you telling me that he hasn't had time to evolve in all these years, and especially since his traumatic stay in hell ?

I'm not saying that the Cat King behaves morally (as for offering Edwin to sleep with him in exchange for his freedom before offering to count the cats, or forcing him by magic to reveal what he really thinks), not at all. He is clearly a form of antagonist / anti-hero, neither good nor bad, and finally rather neutral in the plots of the show.

But this character and actions essentially only serves the positive evolution of Edwin's character regarding everything related to sexuality, but not just that, also his emotional relationships with other men AKA Charles. Again, without the Cat King Edwin probably wouldn't have confessed his feelings to Charles. So the Cat King essentially allows Edwin to fully embrace who he is as an individual, his complete identity.

And it's nothing new that a morally questionable character with morally questionable actions has this kind of role in relation to the protagonist.

Seriously, the antagonist who allows the hero's sexual awakening, as well as its deepening on itself is as old as time. Even more so when this antagonist and hero share similar characteristics such as their loneliness.

Besides, it's not for nothing that the first real kiss that Charles gives himself to someone is to the Cat King (especially after all this talk about kissing and Edwin finally understanding their appeals), even if it's on the cheek that still a kiss. A second kiss more precisely, which he gives on his own and which is much better than his first with the crow.

Crying foul about this makes me wonder what universe these people who are complaining live in as for the codes of fiction. Again, people who cannot see beyond the surface should not be allowed to open their mouths.

I have a discontinued week old comic that I was saving for this answer- but I dont want you to wait too long and think I ignored it!!

The script for this was that Qi knew that Pierre steals the farmer's high quality crops and was going to jab him out of pettiness, but he forgot that Pierre's is an npc.

Farmer stops him, but before she could ask wtf was he doing, Pierre comes back with payment later, in the fair festival, the farmer finds out that Pierre used her crops to win the competition and Qi was like "I told you so" Qi and the farmer then plotted revenge in the middle of the night for payback PS: The only npcs aware of Qi's existence is Sandy and the wizard!! I have hcs for these two and their encounters with Qi, but thats another topic for another time! This answer is getting too long lol ALSOOOO!! Indeed, Anon. I feel like people either completely ignore Ortho or see him as Idia’s appendix. I absolutely love them together, and of course I am biased towards scenarios that focus on their deep codependence, but I also really love how they get to have their own adventures, their own relationship, their own experiences separate from each other. Because they are wow, different characters, and Ortho has his own agency. He had it even before ch6, but after that he fully and officially became his own person. Being with Idia is his choice, not his only option. And just like you mentioned, he makes his own gears pretty much all the time now… even though I don’t agree that Idia making his gears has anything to do with Ortho’s agency.

I don’t even think Ortho is that optimistic. He is a little sunshine, but not even close to people like Kalim for example. Ortho even has his own cynical moments and douchy moments that people also tend to ignore. But even if he was 100% optimistic and naïve, it still would not be a valid reason to infantilise him. And you are absolutely right, people do that a lot. With Kalim too, actually, now that I think about it.

I don’t hate younger fans, and I know that some people might be genuinely confused; but I also believe that there are a lot of people that simply do not care about Ortho’s actual story and any arguments one could make about this case. The actual issue isn’t Ortho being a certain age, it’s a pretext, an excuse, an invitation to harass. If Ortho didn’t exist, they would still do it with other characters, and even if all the characters were adults, they would still find a reason to do so, like, for example, their appearance. There is no winning in this game, this is why factual arguments won’t work even if Ortho Shroud himself looks in the camera and says “hi, I don’t care if people ship me with my niisan, I am also in fact not 8 years old”.

I am also very glad you mentioned Ortho being his own person! I mentioned it in a previous reply, so I won’t talk about it, but yes, you are absolutely right. Ortho is a menace, and all of his disappointed “come ooon, niisan, don’t do that�� moments come from his desire for Idia to have more friends, not because he genuinely cares for other people. He clearly doesn’t – hence his multiple attempts to blow up the school lol

Ortho has one of the biggest amounts of cards, he is clearly a popular character, not just a lovely addition or a mascot.

Kindness, hope, and optimism are traits not limited to children. Shortness is also not limited to children. If we treat other characters by traits often shared by children, then Neige's fellow dwarf classmates are also children. What they don't count bc they are not human? Ortho is not human either. Similarly, Kalim and Silver display positive internal traits of kindness, hope, and optimism. Shortness? Well, we got Grandpa Lilia and the Napoleon complex twins Riddle and Epel. They are all teenagers (minus Lilia) and no one is babying them.

...And are we ignoring all the shit he has seen on the internet. The amount of porn (from adult sites and even the soft-core types you can even find by watching some twitch/yt streamers) that can be seen. Videos of violence, crimes, and ppl doing their best to win the Darwainism Award. Ortho could access and go through like 5 terebytes by the time I reach page two of Google.

As for the Shroudcest, they are fictional characters! You can go straight to phub and have incest type (the sheer amount of the step family porn troupe) porn being acted out by actual breathing people. Do you want to metaphorically die on this hill of ppl shipping fictional 2D characters? Are we just going to ignore you targeting this harmless ship? At least go for a larger target like Game of Thrones or House of Dragons. So much incest in those media that it has it's own fan wiki page, but you don't see ppl go for George R. R. The entire part about all those traits not being exclusive to children + about other characters having those traits but still not being babied – YES, thank you so much for that. Like I already mentioned, the game clearly plays with those tropes, and even though the characters are young-looking, they are still of high school age (other than Lilia). Ortho is weird, Ortho is different from some of the other boys, but all of them are weird in their own way, Ortho is just a robot. If we can make “not a human” excuse for the dwarves, why can’t we look at Ortho that way? And yes, Ortho absolutely knows stuff a kid wouldn’t be able to digest lol All of his difficulties come from him being an AI – he doesn’t always get sarcasm, he doesn’t fully understand why people do certain things and doesn’t understand some limitations of human’s body and mind; none of it is tied to him being childish or too innocent.

Ironically, that would mean that people who harass others over cartoons can’t make this separation very well because of their lack of critical consumption of media; but then again, they can’t even see (and don’t care, which makes it worse and my point stronger) how their own reckless actions seriously affect real people in real life, and I think this is a more important issue to resolve lol

Unfortunately, people who prefer performative activism very rarely end up becoming real activists, but I do hope that they will at least find some other hobby, something that doesn’t cause so much harm to both innocent people and the cause they claim to be fighting for.

Idk if you’ve already done this (newer follower and still catching up) but would you ever do a post on how you plan a post? Like what your planning process looks like with shots, poses, etc? You’re one of my favorite storytellers and I hope to get on your level one day but no idea what goes into a true story telling post

Ooooh hi hello, welcome! I don't believe I have ever gone into my process, no! but how interesting.. what better excuse! let's take yesterdays post as an example, shall we? ���

First of all, we start with the premise/notes, which are very rough n' look like this in a word document...

Camping – the twins are fiiighting/being a pain, Oscar loses temper with em n almost says why can’t u be like ur brother?! throwing him into memories of Salton saying that to him all the time :[ he catches himself like no wait ur perfect I just gotta finish this, twins like wtf?? But robin ofc knows what’s going on with his pappy.. Oscar wanders off later n Robin sits with him, ur not like them u kno, what? Grandma n grandpa ur not the same, OUGH ;-;

2. I suppose this step changes depending on what I feel like, sometimes I'll make the poses/take the screenies first, then write the dialogue, other times I'll write the dialogue first.. I try for the latter since I can make more accurate poses, but time is usually my enemy here cos dialogue needs a nice quiet period to write lmao (let's call this step dialogue for now though)

3. Rip sims for blender, make poses, then head in game to dress everyone, set dress and take screenies, I take a LOT and choose the best ones but here're some unedited examples for you... In this case cos there was a flashback, I also had to remake Oscar/fam as a child n' whatnot, but luckily I have their old house saved so I plonked them all in an alternative save to take those.

4. Now we have our dialogue/screenies, it's time to throw it all together in photoshop, I usually edit the screenie first to fix any clipping etc, fix the lighting, sharpen it up a bit maybe.. but that's about it! Then I press my handy lil (custom made) storyboard action and end up with smth like this, to which I add the text! (this step takes the longest prolly.. cos it takes me forever to pick the screenies I wanna use my GOD 🙈)

VOILA! Once I've chosen all the screenies in the right order I go thru each of em in PS one by one to edit/add captions, then we're done! \o/

I realise this probably seems quite quick/vague or even streamlined if u wanna toot my horn lmaooo but I've spent a while doing this by now so ig I've kinda figured out the quickest way of doing it - still tho, I'd imagine the above still taking between 4-5 hours from start to finish! I usually spread these things over days/weeks in advance tho like.. during the week I mostly make poses/take screenies and write, then at the weekend I'll usually edit a bunch n' throw it all together, so it doesn't rlly feel tedious since I'm switching it up all the time/doing what I fancy.

ok no more being defensive about this jam, gonna talk about things that i think are interesting/could go places. Feel free to reply with your own theories, just no outright negativity? pls? (I dont mind saying you don't like certain things in the context of analysis, just maintain the basic assumption that the writers are trying to tell a story in good faith).

1. In Charades, Spock learned that being fully human would not solve his problems. Any gains he got in connection with his crewmates, or greater emotional availability had tradeoffs: losing who he fundamentally was. Him not being able to connect telepathically with his mother must have felt like losing a limb if that limb was a childhood memory.

I'm seeing how the crew is seeing all these supposed benefits to being Vulcan. But I think faced with the prospect of being Vulcan forever, greater work efficiency is gonna take a huge backseat to completely losing your identity and sense of self.

2. I commented before on ethan peck's acting, but I love how he always does these subtle things in the vulcan centric episodes. Like in Spock Amok, how he became Gia Sandhu with changes in micro expressions. In this one, it is amazing how he goes from feeling extremely vulcan in his demeanor to just "switching" a vibe and feeling so much more human. His exasperation at his colleagues being rude fucks that think they know more about Vulcan than he does was incredibly well played. Can't wait to see how he unpacks it for them and teaches them to do better -- im sure they will get backlash from other humans, too. He is like the only Vulcan "acting normal" in a room of other Vulcans that don't do it right.

3. I love La'an especially how she looks in askance to the things she does to spock, like "am i doing this right?" sorta how spock looked for his crew on tips about how to behave like himself in "Charades". I need to rewatch it, but it feels like they are all play acting what they think Vulcans should act like, and not quite getting it. People are right, they are playacting Vulcans, because that is what they think is expected of them.

4. I love the depiction of the increased sensory perception, almost like they are tripping. I love these investigations into neurological differences, as a person with a lot of sensory overload/sensory seeking behaviors, I appreciate those being displayed in characters. The neurological differences not being "just culture" is what I loved about aliens being portrayed as aliens. How does culture evolve from the material realities?

5. I do like that Pelia and the rest of the bridge crew didn't expect them to complete tasks faster. But they do. The purpose of them being vulcan was not to be hyperefficient. It was a side effect that is tempting to this workaholic crew, but not the purpose of the transformation. I especially want to see how La'an reacts to this long-term.

6. WTF is up with the lirpa? Why do they have one? How is it required to contain radiation? I mean it looks badass but I need more context to their mission.

7. bonus: scotty is so cute. we are so lucky he got added to main cast. This has nothing to do with the episode. I was just so happy to see him.

8. secret bonus thing: I mentioned this in another post, but the fact that their hair grows/is braided/is different is such an amazing visual language. I like them being willing to play with costuming to tell a story here, instead of just having ears/eyebrows. It is a very novel storytelling technique. It reminds me of the end of "These old scientists" where the cartoon aesthetic is used to depict the feeling of orion drinks. SNW being willing to play with the medium of the message is so unique to modern sci fi.

I just binged the whole entirety of Ninjago DR Season 2 B and my god. MY GOD. I swear I can't get a damn break from these shows, Maws broke me and guess what? So did Ninjago! Like oh my sakes this damn season broke me

Okay. So I just binged the whole part two to season 2 because it's Saturday and I have nothing better to do anyways and I'm regretting bringing it because it broke my heart

The first episode was all nice and stuff and I thought maybe just maybe it was gonna be okay for a while boy was I wrong

So when the invites went out I had to stop for a moment because I was confused because I was pretty damn sure Beatrix wasn't an elemental master and I was right it was her sister that I kinda forgot about until that point

They introduced the annoying uncle I didn't like that man from the get go, so bitchy and for no reason also the Ninja's breaking and entering was kinda hilarious

Also the snail guy?? Hello?? I was so surprised to see him, also the fact he just thought he was just that good with gardening was bewildering but a good change of pace

And then the bot attacks were definitely interesting, at first I thought maybe it was robie I did not trust him at first he was sketchy to me at first but I learned to like him

The whole damn season was just so awesome and I honestly loved the whole thing, Ras getting to arin was kinda expected it was bound to happen also Lloyd making false promises even though he doesn't mean them to be false :(

That boy is still insecure and I wanna just give him a big hug, not just to him but also to Arin, I noticed that while he was doing spinjutzu there were remnant effects of shatter spin which concerns me very much, also the desperation he has to find his parents :( I feel so bad for him tbh

I love that we get to see old characters from past seasons though I am slightly upset we didn't get to see skylor, it would've been great to hear from my girl after the whole merge shit

Also the screen time Jay has is increasing though it is still little, also I hate the way Ras is manipulating him :/

The whole time he gets screen time it hurts me to see, because I swear Jay calling Nya "Lady" WAS IT, I WANTED TO CRY I LITERALLY SCREAMED AT IT BECAUSE IT HURTS BECAUSE THEY LOVED EACH OTHER SO MUCH </33

Ok... what is this stupid scenario ?! Basically the Doctor got that old face back to move in with Donna and her family ?! But how is that supposed to work ?! The guy is still an immortal Time Lord. So what will it be like once everyone is dead ? What will happen when he regenerates again ?! That is what I was afraid of happened. Donna got her Doctor, but this time still a Time Lord who finally does everything he never could. But why suddenly could he do it ? I remind you that he left Rose because he was unable to settle down since he was a Time Lord and therefore incapable of leading that kind of life ! That screws up the whole RTD thing for me ! Seriously, wtf ?! What did RTD smoke ?! And why would the 15th Doctor be happy ? Why wouldn't he ask himself too ?! Why does he have to continue traveling if another Time Lord version of himself can arise ? What does he want more because they have become separate entities ?! Seriously what is this shit ?! And why is this version so open emotionally speaking ?! FOR WHAT ?!

The 15th Doctor himself seems very emotionally open in what little we have seen of him. So now the Doctor will always enjoy everything and never hold back his feelings ?

This whole 60th anniversary was just poorly done fucking fan service... The whole premise of the 10th Doctor was that he could only have this normal life that Donna talks to him about by becoming human ! But the 14th Doctor is not a fucking human !

So why would he be able to have this life ?! And then, that concludes nothing at all ! The Doctor does not end up resting since the 15th sets off on an adventure again so that the story never ends ! What the 14th Doctor does is change the ending of the 10th Doctor, plain and simple. It's bullshit. I mean, let's be real, the 14th Doctor is the 10th ! Since we don't take it at all, we take into account that he has physically aged, it's as if he came back exactly as before ! The scenario literally takes up the delirium of the reward being specific to the 10th Doctor ! And his reward was seeing Rose one last time. His reward was that in another life he was happy with her. His reward isn't supposed to be him getting down with his best friend despite being a fucking immortal. NOTHING HAS TO CHANGE SO HE CAN DO THIS !

And then frankly, all these references to Tentoo so that it's just the 10th Doctor 2.0 still Time Lord at the end ? WTF ? Seriously, wtf ? This is the worst storyline the show has had for me.

It doesn't add anything. This just breaks everything that an entire air of 4 seasons had written...

It's bullshit, this delusion that the Doctor must rest in this 14th incarnation. The 15th Doctor also experienced all of these same things ! Why not him either ?! Doctor ! Need I remind you that there is already a version of you living a dream life ?! A normal life ?! Why does this so-called stupid therapy moment exist ?! 15th Doctor and 14th Doctor, you're the same guy ! Why should 14 rest and not 15 ?! The only reason is to once again rewrite the ending of the Tenth Doctor ! But the 10th Doctor already had his happy ending with Rose !

The fact that the Doctor says he finally has a family and never thought he would kills me because it's all a huge paradox. Dude, you're the Doctor. A version of you has already gotten a normal life with Rose. A family. But you, this version of yourself may have that, but not fully, not forever, because you are still an immortal time lord who will have to regenerate one day. Beyond that, it looks like the Doctor finally had a happy conclusion, except that no, because the 15th Doctor literally left to continue the same life as before ! So what is this ridiculous scenario ?

Now there are people who will say that David's Doctor finally had a happy ending when... well no ? He is still immortal. Still a Time Lord. Will have to regenerate one day. Everyone he loves and lives with now is going to die eventually. The only fully happy version of the Doctor is the human version. Because he is human. The Doctor's premise is that his immortality prevents him from being happy. So how does this so-called happy ending work ? With a face that was basically created for Rose I remind you...

People, tell me what you think because this whole ridiculous scenario is giving me a headache. The only thing that makes me happy is that the new Rose has been recognized as the Doctor's niece.

I am literally DISGUSTED.

Very clearly, the Doctor Who adventure ends here for me.

MUTANT APOCALYPSE IS BAD AND I HATE IT IN THIS ESSAY I WILL-

in all seriousness tho, i try to be as... chill in here as i can (i say while knees deep in a hyperfixation-fueled writing of an angst ridden rottmnt au), but even the chillest of people has one (or a few) gripes with reality. one of mine is, when people antagonize other people over their preferred headcanons (i have a... post, ranting about similar stuff a bit, so as to not get into it here).

and my one of my biggest gripes with tmnt: the 2012 edition (besides the very obvious sexism, slightly less obvious racism and a milion of bad writing choices) is the space arc (not talking about it now, possibly not ever) and the MUTANT APOCALYPSE.

i. hate. the mutant apocalypse. it has ugly designs, the plot makes very little sense, everything looks like shit and worse, the leo thing is possibly the silliest thing i've seen in tmnt franchise since reading volume 4 of the mirage comics and just usghshsksndhdukdnd. bad. bad arc.

it oozes hypermasculinity in a way similar to the bayverse movies. it completely looses the martial arts aspect of the turtles and replaces it with generic gun stuff. not a fan.

THE HUMANS ARE DEAD.

AND EVEN WORSE, APRIL IS DEAD.

overall, i think that mutant apocalypse is an idea. could it be good? considering, how the fandom clings to the apocalyptic storylines in 03 and rise, i would say, yes? obviously, it was done quite badly tho, like the creators wanted to make a macho man blockbuster movie about macho apocalypse and random guys saving one girl and finding the garden of eden or some other christian thing. but the blockbuster is dead, because they're making a ninja turtles cartoon and they already killed one rat like 5 times, no shock value is left in the show. so they took the characters, but them into some fucked up, unfitting molds, broke just about every rule of thw established universe and made an arc that makes me mad every time i remember it exist.

ps. WHY WASN'T MONA IN MUTANT APOCALYPSE???!! THAT WOULD BE THE PERFECT PLACE FOR HER!!! WHAT ABOUT ANY OTHER MUTANT EVER?!!!! ARE THE TURTLES THE ONLY PEOPLE LEFT FROM THE OLD WORLD, DID EVERYONE ELSE JUST RANDOMLY SPAWN INTO EXISTENCE THE MOMENT THE BOMB HIT?!!!! WTF!!!

ps.2. the only thing good that came out of mutant apocalypse was robot donnie (and maybe the blasian behavior mikey), and even still i can't look at him the same ever since i saw a post talking about how this isn't donnie, this is just a copy of his teen-aged brain in a robot body, and i have to agree, especially with how he doesn't act any different, like he's just stuck at that stage of his life forever because he's dead. anyway, still cute and has rabbit ear that now feature in every robot design i make.

Voyager rewatch s3 ep9: Future's End pt 2

Another episode where I sit there twirling my hair, kicking my feet, and grinning, having my happy Star Trek fun time. It's truly got it all: epic adventure, silly hijinks, time travel paradoxes, phaser shootouts, a cute romance subplot, heck, even a car chase! You could not ask for more.

It's also the ep that introduces the Doctor's moblie emitter, which is a huge deal for his character, and the show in general, now that he can leave sickbay like everyone else. It was honestly a genius move to have a villain use stolen 29th century holo technology to kidnap the Doctor, because not only do we have a workaround for how it can technically be accomplished, in spite of established limits of holodeck technology, we get to keep the emitter and use it forever without any temporal prime directive red tape. Slow clap for that one!

Also, what is up with Chakotay doing flirty flirt all the time in this story?! First with the Captain in the first part (typical, tbh), but then with B'Elanna in the second part! Was this a direction? Or just Beltran spicing things up for his own amusement? Idk, but it's a lot, and it feels weird with B'Elanna, especially when we straight up know he's down bad for Janeway.

And I gotta say, no alien on Star Trek has ever inspired me with visceral terror the way those flannel wearing white guys with guns in this one do. Even the Borg are pretend at the end of the day, but gun-toting rednecks are very real, and even though I know they're not going to kill off main characters, I still sit there thinking "get them out, get them out now!!" when they capture Chakotay and B'Elanna. Having the Doctor phaser those guys was a huge relief tbh!

This story feels more like a TV movie than a regular episode- being able to go to actual locations makes everything seem so much bigger. I mean, they drive past houses! They never just go down random streets on alien planets, because it's too expensive and time consuming to build just to be in the background, and here, we get all the little details of real places, atmosphere, sunshine! It's so great! All the colors look really saturated too, it's almost cartoonish, but not in a bad way. I honestly wonder if they used some kind of filters to make the trees greener and the sky bluer, or if LA really just looks like that. Star Trek tends to be very grey and beige, and I just love all the colors we see in this one.

There's so much here that's nostalgic- the flip phones! Rain Robinson's entire wardrobe! (Girl looks like she stepped out of the pages of Teen Vogue- every girl wanted to dress like her, she even had a VW van, which was very cool at the time.)

I really do like the little romantic subplot they gave to Tom and Rain. It was sweet that they bonded over being nerdy, and it was so lovely that they let Tom be genuine and not cheesy, finally. I love that they gave Rain a little speech recognizing how selfless and dutiful Tom actually is. (I think this episode is where little 10 year old me started to develop a crush on him- and here we are, 27 years later, and I'll still fight anyone who doesn't respect my cringefail nerd blorbo. I'm fine and normal, I promise!)

One thing I noticed on rewatching this, though, is that after the big car chase, when Tom and Rain have their little goodbye kiss, Tom walks away, and gets beamed back to Voyager, but, um... how is she supposed to get home?! Her van just got crashed into, and they're in the middle of the desert! You couldn't just get an Uber in those days! They left her stranded out on a desert road with no car, no food, no water! She's gonna die y'all! The least they can do after she helped them is beam her the hell back to town!! Lol wtf?!

This is one of those eps that's so much fun that you don't want it to end. But of course, our plucky Voyager crew stops Starling from taking the timeship back to the future, and prevents him from destroying the solar system. It's very satisfying knowing his greed is what gets him killed- if only billionaires always got what they deserved lol. And then they get to go back to their own time, but they have to go back to the Delta Quadrant- that pesky temporal prime directive! But we get treated to a final scene of all of the crew together in the mess hall, for the first time ever! I'm not sure if they're celebrating the Doctor's mobile emitter, or getting back to their own time, or what, but it's cute AF. Tom then calls Tuvok a freakasaurus (affectionate), and I'm just about to keel over from warm fuzzy feelings as the credits roll. I love this one so, so much!!

Tl;dr: A conclusion that lives up to the first part, this is an epic time travel story with all the fun, nostalgia, and excitement you could ask for. One of the series best, a true classic.
