i think it’s noteworthy that parker finds a way, multiple times, to pretend to be with hardison in a con. she kisses him in the first david job, she pretends she’s meeting him to have sex in the wedding job, they pretend they’re getting a marriage visa in the zanzibar marketplace job, and they act like they’ve been making out in the jailhouse job. and i can’t think of a time that she’s done that with any of the others?? tell me if im wrong but i don’t think she’s fake-made-out with anyone else, at least.
i mean, parker stabs or breaks the fingers of guys who flirt with her or touch her. yet in the first david job she kisses hardison. in season one, when she’s still so resistant to touch and her heart is so guarded. its just for the con, of course. but a fake kiss, something she can easily write off - that’s all she can do at that stage. she can’t offer her heart, she won’t let herself get attached, and really it takes until the long way down job (ie season 4) for her to start accepting that she is capable of loving and being loved. in season 1, when she was entirely closed off, a fake kiss is all she can do with her feelings for hardison pretzels. she keeps taking the opportunity to kiss him or be together, without the consequence of Having To Talk About It and all the problems she knows would come with that. her method of coping with Emotions is to let herself get into a bunch of mini fake dating AUs with him lol.
i think its worth bringing up because ive mentioned how sweet hardison is with her, and we all talk about how much he cares for her and shows patience and understanding, but its certainly not one-sided! parker’s enamoured with him since pretty early on. her way of showing it is just different and somehow both far less and way more direct lol. they both put effort into figuring each other out and learning to be in a relationship, not to mention that trying to be capable of a healthy relationship with hardison is one of the biggest driving forces behind parker’s character growth. he’s so important to her (and they’re so important to me <3).

Final post on the matter and I'll shut up.
Let's be entirely honest, if it had been any other character getting a massive personality change, everyone would be rioting. Imagine if Grimmjow had shown up depressed af and turned into a punching bag. People would be so fucking mad. But no one gives a fuck about Aizen as a character so I'm pretty done with this. Even if there is a canon reason and hes uber depressed, no one cares about that and the story won't at all give any payoff for it, any redemption, any exploration. If anything, I'm starting to anticipate he will be killed off in the future, maybe Hellarc. I don't really want any part of it, so I'm bugging out and taking a huge step back for my own sake.
Canon is now officially dead to me in every way.

"Remember...we need to keep this completely professional and strictly discreet"
He declares firmly as he readjust the gizmo on his right hand, digitalizing his suit onto his glistening, perfect body. Watching the freshly embroidered markings that you engraved onto his beautiful, broaden back, fade from your lingering sight. Shifting up on your bed as you gently pull the crinkled sheets up to your bare, heaving chest. Slowly, watching his head tilt to the side to capture your longing stare.
"Nothing more then this will happen between us...I just want you to know that" he clarifies with a heavy sigh, fixing his posture as he opens up a portal in the midst of your dim lit room. Taking a final, shorten glimpse back at you, noting the distraught, broken look settling upon your face, before vanishing within the glowing inter dimensional circle.
"...Yeah, nothing..."

OFMD fandom has me thinking about Protagonist Centered Morality, like, in general.
I feel like we only call it that when we think it's been handled wrong and are criticizing it, even though - let's be honest - we have all bought into some degree of protagonist centered morality in our favorite show. Like. It's the beating heart behind the very idea of a Mook - the faceless darkside minion that your heroes can destroy without any moral consequence for that action because who gives a shit? It's basically inescapable in every cop-show (or reskinned cop show like spn), chosen one story, action movie, revenge quest, underdog tale... we fucking love it when the universe agrees "yeah they earned that" and will generally just roll our eyes at people going "ok but you know your fictional murderers are doing bad things, right?"
Until we don't.
And, like, as an offshoot of this... 99% of the time, when you're criticizing a show for its protagonist centered morality, the most straightforward way to get your point across is complaining about whatever happened. "X did Y and then we're just supposed to forget about it?" Or "X is being such a hypocrite about Z!" And then someone else (real or hypothetical) pushes back with some point about how the story / other characters / etc. don't treat this as a problem and that kicks off the framing criticisms. But is it really about what they did?
People will object to the protagonist centered framing of actions they don't consider that serious, and be satisfied or unconcerned with the framing of actions they find borderline unforgivable. Protagonist centered morality can casually handwave (or seriously penalize) the whole spectrum of morally questionable actions from being a shit in high school to committing massive war crimes. Sometimes the primary complaint is that the protagonist already took a stance against this action, so now being fine with doing it themselves is hypocritical and out of character, and the problem with protagonist centered morality seems to be more that it's letting the OOC part slide.
The concept engages with genuine criticism of a characterization or character's actions as a shorthand, but the part it's actually complaining about is closer to feeling the narrative failed somewhere on a meta level to calibrate how much the audience should care about this event (and what level of in-universe caring would then satisfy).
It's not (at least usually) a fancy way of putting forward character crit of the good guys - most people who want to do that are just going to do so directly. If anything it has more in common with being upset at a story for breaking your Suspension of Disbelief (usually in the arena of character relationships).

My favourite part about ‘morally grey’ characters by FAR is like. The dichotomy between who they are and who they’re trying to be. Does their moral compass naturally point to Good, but they’re trying desperately to abandon their morals in order to survive?? Or are they so broken down already that it’s naturally pointing to Evil, even as they consciously try to do The Right Thing?? Idk but either way it is AMAZING to read (when done justice ofc).

During a time where they are having an argument, decide the reason behind it for what you will, and the atmosphere tethers between bittingly playful to an more tense atmosphere, Edwina has enough and storms off before anything more damaging can be said. However, Friedrich has a different idea and follows after her because this matter can simply not be let go. A rain storm had come and past, but the ground was still wet and covered with mud. Edwina is so focused on Friedrich that she doesn't realize where she steps until she falls into a puddle of mud. In front of members of the court. She's so embarrassed, almost blindingly so that she nearly misses Friedrich fall beside her as he also slipped. Only, it's very obvious to her that he fell purposely and is now dramatically placing more mud on his clothing to appear more disgruntled than her.
His eyes meet her's and the words speak for themselves. Even when they argue, no matter how trivial it may be, he'd never let her embarrass herself and be laughed at alone when they could face it together. Even if that means being covered head to toe in mud.

ur making it pretty hard to not be curious about aftg like what is going on can you infodump ur worst to me
so basically it's about a guy called neil who's not actually called neil bc turns out he's the son of a HIGHLY abusive mafia hitman and him and his mother have been running from this guy for years which ofc means changes in identity and a SHIT ton of issues ranging from good old fashioned paranoia to lighting cigarettes not to smoke them but to let them burn down bc the smell reminds you of your mother's burning corpse. but neil is obsessed and i mean OBSESSED with this made up sport called exy which is like lacrosse but with the violence of ice hockey and he joins a pro-team despite aforementioned ABUSIVE MAFIA DAD AFTER HIM and guess what! the guy who signed him is called kevin and his ex-team are affiliated with the mafia too! including neil's dad! neil just screwed himself over big time! but who cares when you have exy! enter: andrew minyard. andrew is a blonde, 5ft, ex-juvie, under-court-surveillance-for-grevious-bodily-harm goalkeeper currently working unofficially as kevin's bodyguard and, while we never get an actual diagnosis bc god forbid we handle mental health properly in this thing, it's implied that he has some kind of psychosis and, as part of his plea bargain, is legally obgligated to take incredibly mood-altering medication that makes him manic in exchange for being allowed to stay on the team (aka with kevin who he's VERY possessive of), done entirely for the wellbeing of those around him and effectively against andrew's will. does he stick to that deal? fuck no! but it doesn't stop there! andrew proceeds to spend the entire book being as violent and unpredictable and generally cunty as possible in order to figure out What Neil's Deal Is bc neil is capital S Shifty and andrew is convinced he's from kevin's old mafia cult team trying to hurt him. we spend an entire book watching the three of them wrestle between neil's paranoia, andrew's protectiveness and kevin's desire to Please Can We Just Play Exy. there are some keys involved. someone dies. there are two more books. inexplicably two of the characters can speak fluent german purely from high school classes.
