Stu Macher (Scream)

The BEST Ghostface to ever Ghostface. A BIT underrated just because people will sometimes give Billy more credit. But like- hot man. Has no actual motive for killing, Billy was like "Hey, dude, let's kill people" and he literally needed nothing more. Thought up of some of the key parts of their plan, definitely gutted Casey and Steve, probably put Kenny on the van by himself (Billy wasn't around, so-) . Definitely top 3 or 4 strongest Ghosties to date. And the humor-- okay, I could go ON AND ON about Stu, but I'll stop here. Matthew Lillard really took the character from boring in the script to one of the only parts of the original film me and my mother (who's TERRIFIED of horror films and would rather forget them) remembered from our first watch when I was 13. (She said she'll never forget his laugh and that she hates him. ... She then got me a t-shirt of him not 3 weeks later for Christmas. Sorry, Mom-) Great job, man! Stu stole my heart, LOTS of my money, and a large part of my brain, so it's safe to say he'll always be my fave and an icon in my eyes. (Literally wearing my Stu shirt as I type this, what a fun coincidence LOL-)

2. Charlie Walker (Scream 4)

I said what I said. People either adore Charlie or despise him, and I love him DEARLY. Yes, he's very attractive, but on top of that, he racks up one of the highest kill counts by a single Ghostface alone in the entire franchise, beaten only by Roman, I believe. From Olivia Morris, which was obviously his kill, to tossing Rebecca Walters off a building, to Jenny and Marnie... definitely Robbie... Kirby... Kate Roberts... man just went crazy with the kills, and I respect it. He had loyalty, some great lines, a HILARIOUS deleted scene ( ), and he kept cool under pressure, never revealing himself until absolutely necessary. Do I relate to him? Yep. Is that bad? Probably, but I love him anyways.

3. Jill Roberts (Scream 4)

Another maybe controversial ranking, but I love Jill! I think her motive is fantastic, the way that she uses Charlie to get what she wants, and as someone who has acted innocent in situations where I'm definitely not, her acting is spot on. I never thought about it being her until her reveal, and it's still one of my favorites of all time. She is also, I believe, the Ghostface who got closest to the goal of killing Sidney and getting away with it, so congrats, girl! You had the whole world fooled till the hospital! She's a great take on what I think is the modern version of Billy Loomis, and she nailed the innocent act, truly. Did she kill anyone? Probably, but I can't think of anyone who I know is 100% a Jill Kill. Either way, good for her for not getting her hands dirty, or FOR getting her hands dirty! Impressive no matter what in my mind.

4. Billy Loomis (Scream)

Dont worry, Billy fans, he's still in my top 5! The only reason he's not my third is because I think he's just a BIT overrated. If the movies weren't constantly making him seem like he was the only killer and completely alienating Stu (I think there's a reason for that, but I won't explain that here), then I'd put him above Jill. I know that's a weird reason, but it's my reason. Billy is a fantastic manipulator who knew how to get exactly what he wanted from Sid, and also was a repressed drama queen, which I relate to a lot. While Stu was openly crazy, Billy hid behind the stone cold semi-facade. I don't think Billy would ever have gotten as crazy as Stu did, but he definitely showed the drama in several ways that make me smile and laugh every time. Falling down a flight of stairs? Fucking up Stu's couch cushions? Comedy gold every time. I give Billy credit for stabbing Casey, killing Himbry, and killing Tatum. I think the rest were Stu's because of the gutting and where Billy was at the time. I also think he killed Maureen, so a nice 4ish kills for him! Anyways, top tier Ghostie, another one I'll always respect respect and love.

5. Amber Freeman (Scream 5)

I'm gonna be honest, I hated her when I first watched Scream 5. Hated Richie too, but he's still terrible. Fuck him. I thought Amber was a trashy, third rate version of Stu that was extremely fake and her turn from cold to goofy seemed extremely forced. Then I took a deep dive and figured out why. (If you want a full explanation, let me know, I'm trying to stay short here.) So I believe that Richie is this movie's Stu and Amber is the movie's Billy. From her plans, her using the house, just her very cold, calm demeanor in the beginning, she just gives Billie energy, while Richie is just... well, he's the Netflix guy. He makes jokes left and right. But Amber, I think she was trying to be the Stu while Richie was trying to be the Billy. Everyone forgets that Stu was a boyfriend too, (Billy's) Tatum's boyfriend. Amber was supposed to be Tara's girlfriend in the original script. So now, I see her third act as more of her desperate attempt to look like her idol instead of sticking with the persona that served her well for the rest of the film. That really made me appreciate her more, and made her feel even underutilized, as did the Macher house. (I LOVE THAT HOUSE. I LOVE IT. Well, the actual actual house, not the Scream 5 version.) So yeah. Amber was a cold blooded killer trying to be just like the Macher before her, even if that wasn't the part she was meant to play in her movie. Taking credit for Dewey's kill? Absolutely. She was in the cult and she just wanted to piss Gale off by saying she did it. Fantastic lines, wonderful creep factor! Her death- *chef's kiss* Lovely homage to Sidney shooting Billy. And that's my top 5!

6. Quinn Bailey (Scream 6)

The only member of that damn family who did a good job killing. Richie included. Funny? Check. Didn't see her coming? Check. Ruthless? Double check. I don't think she did Gale's attack either, I think that just like Amber, she took the blame for someone else's work just to keep them hidden. Besides that, she was a good character, someone you thought was long gone until she wasn't. Bonus points for her saying Stu was her fave and definitely being the one to stab Mindy on the subway. Maybe not the greatest Ghostie ever, certainly low on kills, but I enjoy watching her a lot.

7. Nancy Loomis, aka "Debbie Salt" (Scream 2)

Another hidden killer who deserved more screen time after her reveal, and more backstory. I love her motive of "good, old-fashioned revenge", and I can see her killing Randy out of rage. Killing Mickey? Nice way to keep things in her favor! Debbie Salt was eh. Don't remember her much tbh- I would've liked to see Nancy more as herself, she just had great potential. Did she take some kills? Absolutely. Got her hands dirty to honor her son. But that's what I don't like. She leaves Hank, then suddenly after Billy dies, she's like the best mother ever?? Killing for the son SHE left?? Her leaving is the reason Scream happened, paired with Maureen and Hank's infidelity-- that's why she's a solid 7 in my book, and the best of the worst. Only goes downhill from here, folks.

8. Mickey Altieri (Scream 2)

GREAT in the Act 3. Other than that? Um... he was okay, I guess? He had some funny lines, but where I really like him is in the possibility possibility of what he's done. He definitely killed for Nancy, he was insane and just wanted people to see him that way. He DID talk to Matthew Lillard in the background of the sorority party... Mickey and Stu working together?? His Act 3 was good, he showed he could be a good Ghostface, scared Sidney, killed Derek... but that's where this ranking and my positive comments about him stop.

9. Wayne Bailey (Scream 6)

Classic parent who wants revenge, angry, pulls it off decently. He has some good moments, funny, a definite suspect, and nowhere near as good a cop as Dewey. Points for trapping the Core 4 (minus Mindy) and Kirby in the second coolest location in the franchise, but that's where my positivity stops. Sam killed him easy, he was a shit parent until Richie died I bet. Did he get his kids to murder? Oh yeah, I think he's the one who made this whole plan up with Quinn and Ethan's help. He doesn't really stand out. Did he kill?? Even wear the fucking mask?? I honestly don't think so. I would put him lower, but compared to the next three... yeah, he's fine at 9.

10. Richie Kirsch (Scream 5)

WHYYYY. WHY. The only goof thing I can say is that like 5 of his lines made me laugh, and he also hates Stab 8. Me too, dude, that looks BAD. Motive? Pretty good, solid movie motive, getting with Sam to get the job done. Ruthless? Yeah. But he's sloppy. He's a Stu without the magic, just trying to make a movie. Him dating Amber?? *vomits* KILL ME NOW. He was 100% manipulated by her, I know he was. A sad attempt of Billy Loomis that leaned more towards Stu, and his cheesy shit throughout the film made his "true colors" seem kinda dull and not very scary. I don't like him. I don't.

11. Ethan Landry [Bailey] (Scream 6)

Like father, like sons!- all in my least favorite 5 of legitimate Ghostfaces. How much screen time did he have?? Not enough. Innocent guy, "I was in Econ!" to "HAHAHA I'M INSANE NOW!!"? I hate it. His transition was too forced, he was bland and stupid, his attempts at faking his knowledge about everything were embarrassing and made him look worse as a character. The easiest Ghostface to spot. I don't know, I mean I get people like him because he's insane and attractive, but I don't. Sorry to all of you who love this guy and his family. His best scene? When Tara stabbed him in the mouth. You go, queen!!

13. Roman Bridger (Scream 3)

Fuck. FUCK. I hate him, I hate this movie, I hate it all. His motive is pretty solid, I actually like it a lot... but he was stuck up, whiney, and underutilized. Like Ethan, low screen time, unbelievable shift from loser to villain- did he even share a scene with Sid?? Talk to her?? And this makes Billy and Stu look like lackeys. I HATE IT. I would've much rather had the Stu leading a Ghostface cult film, but I know why they went this route instead, and I respect that. Like Ethan, the best part about him, and of this movie, is his death. Dewey missing his head like 5ish times before finally hearing Sid and going for the head Thor in Endgame style?? Comedy. GOLD. I love Dewey Riley. But yeah, I just don't like Roman at all. His strengths are his motive, his INSANE kill count (I think he had an accomplice.), and his physical strength. Besides those? Useless. Sorry, Roman die-hards.

14. Jason Carvey (Scream 6)

Not bad for a Ghostface killed in the first 15 minutes. He had the makings of a good killer, definitely in the cult, but his time was just extremely short. Nothing much to say about him, but his only kill was a fantastic start to the film. I would put him higher, because I think he WAS a good Ghostface, but... 10 minutes or less of screen time? Sorry dude, don't know you well enough.

15. Greg (Scream 6)

Who?? Saw him a fridge. That's it. What's his last name, I don't remember- No screen time, not even alive on screen. Nothing more to say. He was probably pretty good though, if he was anything like Jason.

A/N: my fave thing in the world is vanilla pudding, my brain somehow came up with this dumb ass situation, i hope you all like it!!

The Special Operations Squad was now out on a mission, nothing major, just exterminate some titans that made it through the hole in the wall of Shiganshina, the soldiers regrouped on top of the wall expectant of Commander Erwin’s orders, once we all knew where and what we had to do we were dismissed, you were going to your assigned place until you heard commander calling out your last name stopping on your tracks and giving him your full attention “yes, commander Erwin?” Expecting maybe a change in your orders. “I’d like to inform you there’s vanilla pudding for dessert tonight.” A small smile creeped on his face as your eyes lit up, you loved pudding that was a fact, his attempt of motivating you a little more was successful. When we finished a mission that went as planned, the higher ups prepared us a feast of delicious foods and drinks to celebrate, Commander made sure to always add pudding, especially for you.

You were after Levi, an exceptional soldier, the only one that could match up Humanity’s Strongest Solider’s skills. Being younger, you and commander had a great relationship, he cared for you almost like a daughter. “I’ll make sure to give my best efforts in this mission, as always, I’ll give my heart, commander.” You said bringing your left first to your chest and lowering your head and lifting it up with a smile. “I don’t expect less from you, y/n.” He said after turning around and making his way to Hange, not before warning you to be careful and not put yourself in unnecessary situations.

“You’re going with me, brat. Let’s go.” Levi, who was quietly standing next to the commander, said to you. “Yes, Captain.” You both walked to the edge of the wall. It was always a pleasure to work hand in hand with Levi, you don’t get on his way and act as a good support for him, as same as he does for you when it’s needed. When both of you team up, it becomes an unstoppable titan killing duo. “You know what you gotta do, no need in over explaining. Let’s fucking do this, brat.” He said giving you a side smile, it was a known fact that Levi didn’t tolerate many people, but he did tolerate you, more than he would like, to be honest. “I’m already eager, come on.” At his signal both of you jumped off the wall, meaning the start of an amazing show for the ones in the walls that were lucky to see both of you in action.

Time skip

The mission was a success, the scouts already made it to the main headquarters, some of them already showered and in the main dinning hall eating and drinking like there’s no tomorrow, laughs, voices and chants could be heard from outside. You wanted to have a relaxing shower by yourself, so you had to wait until every girl showered leaving you to be the last in order to enjoy a little bit of peace. Once you were clean and dressed in comfy clothes you made your way to the dinning hall desiring to get some food in and fill your stomach finally. Walking to the food area to get a tray to collect your desired and delicious pudding, the one you thought about all day, said dessert was a reward that you worked so hard for. You stretched your arm your grasp the last one left, until someone also reached for it faster snatching it away from you.

The situation played in your head in slow motion, seeing the smiling young man walk away taking a spoonful of it humming in delight. You stood there, looking at your still out stretched hand, frozen in place not wanting to believe what just happened. You felt your eyes starting to water as you turned your head towards the lucky bastard that was eating your pudding. Slowly making your way back to your seat joining your friends at the table. Stray tears rolling down your cheeks as you ate, suddenly, a pudding was placed in front of you out of nowhere. Following the trail of the hand that left it there with your eyes until you saw a familiar man, “Levi” you whispered to yourself “I knew they were going to run out fast and I also knew you would be upset if you didn’t get one. So I made sure to secure one just in case, now stop crying brat.” He playfully rolled his eyes gaining a big grin from you as you gave him a small nod wiping your tears away with the back of your hand. “I know it’s dumb but it really makes me happy, thank you Levi, I really appreciate it.” You softly said looking down in embarrassment. “Hey brat, if it makes you happy it’s not dumb. You did a good job today, you deserve it.” He moved the small dish and placed it in front of you, before going back to his seat.

You did a small happy dance tasting the first bite, an obvious look of satisfaction on your face “this right here is the reason why I’m glad to be alive right now.” You said to your friends pointing down to the dessert with your spoon. Perceiving on the side of your eyes how Erwin, Levi and Hange laughed and smiled at your statement, turning to them you said “Thank you Commander for the pudding, tell the chef it’s delicious as always! And thank you again Captain, you made this girl very happy!” They nodded in response with a smirk.

This was gonna be a good, well deserved night for all of us.

first off - this is 100% a return to form for starkid for me. tgwdlm was like. lighting in a bottle but i really, really am not a fan of black friday - so i dipped after that, and never really looked into nightmare time etc. as i'm not super into the hatchetfield eldritch lore stuff - honestly, i figured i was aging out of it. THAT SAID. holy shit. npmd is brilliant

every single goddamn song is a banger. every one. it's so rare for me to like everything at least to a little bit, but when i can interchange my entire top 5 you know it's brilliant. high school is killing me, nerdy prudes must die, dirty girl, hatchet town...all top tier starkid in general. up there w tgwdlm

angela giarratana and will branner steal this entire show. absolutely insane stuff from both of them. will in particular...oh man. it's his show and you just KNOW it

 i will say i wish this maintained the more straight slasher vibe of the first act all the way through but that’s just personal preference since i'm less into the overarching eldritch lore stuff as mentioned. with that in mind though, i didn't find the lords in black stuff as jarring as i thought i would (and the summoning's a banger) - so it works narratively. i think at the end of the day i prefer my standalone shows - not everything needs to be an extended universe - so i was pleasantly surprised at how relatively well this could function as its own thing.

following that - i think this is the closest starkid's gotten to like, off-broadway quality - with plot modifications i could 100% see it making the jump. the production quality - of both the musical itself and the proshot, is amazing - everything pops, it's incredibly polished and just looks brilliant (again, such a step up from BF.)

shoutout to the costume design in particular. top tier work again. ghost max looked crazy good.

for something that in actuality didn't get a lot of focus...can’t stop thinking about how the whole max jagerman grace chastity dynamic is like the absolute HARDEST thing to randomly come out of starkid. the implicit themes had absolutely no right to go that hard!!!! it’s a silly horror comedy!

devout repressed christian and a boy that thinks he’s god. and then she deals with the first sign of sexual attraction to him by killing him??

and then his ghost comes back for vengeance, viewing it as divine justice - and then she ends the musical enacting her own vengeful divine justice?? straight up with modified reprise of his song?? they’re one and the same?? the prayer motif???

“will you pray for me / when i’m gone / or is this the eternal dark without a dawn” and “who will pray for you / when your body’s gone” is like the rawest motif of all time and it’s in the same musical that has an ten minute long barbecue joke sequence unrelated to the plot

nothing sexier than the motif of killing god and god killing you, in general. i do think i loved this one because it played with a lot of my fave tropes and themes of horror - high school slasher, archetypes, coming back wrong, religion, all that

anyway this whole thing just felt like we've unlocked...i dunno, a new level of starkid?? i was blown away and i'm sure for those more invested in hatchetfield beyond tgwdlm it hit even more, but it's left me so excited to see what's next from them for the first time in years.

I have spent so long staring at this ask and trying to figure out how I can pit my children against each other but here is my best try: (this is in order of how much I enjoyed their characters personally when I was reading. The list would prob be different if I was ranking them as people and not as characters):

Neil Josten. It’s always gonna be Neil I’m sorry. Recency bias means that I’m currently thinking (and posting) abt Jean 24/7 but Neil Josten will always take the cake for me in ways I can’t even articulate. His dry humour and narrative choices always have me in stitches. He’s got so much trauma but he doesn’t want to do anything about it but push it down until he meets people he cares about and they found family him into actually healing. He cares so deeply and loves in such a subtle but incredibly strong way. I don’t know how to even express this without saying that the reason I can’t put aftg down every time I pick it up is because of Neil. He tells the story in a way that makes me want to know everything about literally every scene. It’s all Nora ofc but the personality between the lines is how I define “Neil” and I will never not love it. You’ve got me going and now I’m not gonna stop. I can’t even apologize for the length bc I will never apologize for yapping about Neil Josten I say that shit with my FULL CHEST

David Wymack. Do I even have to explain myself here? Those are his fucking KIDS and he would do ANYTHING for them while being a SASSY LITTLE SHIT about it the whole time plus he’s a DILF I would kill and die for him.

Nicky Hemmick don't shoot me pls LOOK do I think what he did to Neil in Edens was at all ok? Absolutely not. When I first read tfc I was HARDCORE hating on Nicky and then trk and tkm made him one of my favourite characters. I don’t think he’s perfect but I love the way he loves. It isn’t hard for him, none of the monsters had to prove themselves to Nicky, or even try to be a decent friend for Nicky to automatically decide that these were his people and that he cares about them. When we meet him Aaron is a homophobic dick to him and Andrew literally pulls a knife on him and yet we immediately find out that he willingly dropped everything and moved an ocean away from his home and his boyfriend to raise them both in the US and not ONCE does he act like he seriously regrets it. Me? I would be holding that shit over their heads every time they act disrespectful but for Nicky loving them despite the shit they put him through is not even a question. It’s not even just the twins too. That one scene where Neil asks “are we? Friends?” And Nicky is SO SHOCKED that Neil didn’t know and goes “oh kiddo of course!!” is my Roman Empire. Plus he’s hilarious obviously.

Kevin Day guys I love him ok, the first two books he compelled me but TKM he POPPED OFF. “I’ve never been skiiing” BANGER “I’m gonna be the deadliest piece on the board” GOOSEBUMPS, “My father comes to all my games” HAD ME IN TEARS. Don’t even get me STARTED on that sexy ass racquet hand switch at championships I’m going to combust. I love that he’s literally obsessed with exy and has the most complicated relationships with the mc’s of every book and yet steals the show every time. Kevin Day I love you.

Matt Boyd. I love him because he would love me for putting Neil first and kill me for not putting Dan before him. He loves his girlfriend and his homies and his sport and cars in that order. He’s a golden retriever who saw a team full of scary-ass wolves and still tries to be friends with them. He wasn’t a part of the “clique” that Neil was in but he did not let that affect his perception or love for Neil in any way. He’s been to hell and came out with just as much love in his heart as he did when he came in. He told Neil that he didn’t know if Andrew would be good for him but then he saw that Andrew fought Kevin for him and decided that he approved bc all that mattered to him was that Neil had someone who would defend him the way Matt would. Then he immediately becomes the #1 wingman right before the shower scene bc he would rather die than cockblock his homie. I love him so much

Andrew Minyard. Like Nicky, I was absolutely a HATER in book one and then he became one of my faves. I like that he’s brave and determined, standing despite everything when the world tried to put him down, but not without his flaws. I really appreciate that Andrew isn’t perfect, he struggles, he’s violent when it’s necessary and sometimes when it’s not. I love how he was always willing to protect Neil, despite everything in him telling him that Neil couldn’t be trusted. He’s a flawed man, but at his core, a good one.

Allison Reynolds is that girl. She reminds me of Andrew (both of them would kill me for saying that) because she takes no shit and gives no fucks. She’s who 16 year old me wanted to be when I grew up. She goes through every emotion in these books and comes out full of righteous anger and uses that to kick the raven’s ASSES and I’m so here for that

Jean Moreau. It’s weird to me that he’s so low because I love him he’s my special boy. I thought that he was interesting in TRK but Riko was a more compelling villain to me. Then ofc we learn that he was never meant to be the villain and he was ranked just below Kevin for me because I just wanted him to be happy. Then tsc happened and he became my hyper fixation. He has a VERY similar sense of humor as Neil except for Neil his jokes were directed at abnormal behaviour, and for Jean he just gets so appalled at the most normal things. I digress about his humor I love Jean and if u want to know why just read literally any of my posts

Danielle Wilds is my GIRL. Her story compels me so much and I really wish we got more backstory for her (obvs we got plenty considering the cast of characters is so huge but still… I want more). She loves her team so much despite everything and she works so hard to keep them together I wanna give her a hug and a kiss. (That scene in TKM right after Andrew breaks Riko’s arm Dan was the FIRST one to find Neil and she was so concerned about him she cares about him so much STOP they’re FAMILY I LOVE THEM)

Catalina Alvarez was my favourite character in tsc (aside from Jean) because I love her so much. @theresalwaysafiresomewhere said that cat reminds her of me and it was still to this day the best compliment I’ve ever received. I cannot name a single thing abt cat I don’t like so I’m just gonna keep going.

Jeremy Knox is only this low bc I still know nothing about this man. Reading his pov and seeing him thru Jean’s eyes was helpful in securing him a spot in my list of faves tho, I want to know everything about him please Nora please

Renee Walker also should not be this low it physically hurts me to put her here but like most other characters in this half of the list, she didn’t compel me as much until tkm. Just a personal thing I guess. I do love her though and I wish she got more time with Jean. It still bothers me that she loved Jean but was the bigger person about it and knew that they weren’t at the right place in their lives, and yet we don’t get to see how making this decision affects her. I think she deserves to be loved more. I hope she gets a happy ending the same way Jean does.

She is a good person with good intentions in canon, and she takes care of the people she likes. However, in fanon, especially with a popular pairing, she is again the WOMAN who is either homophobic or the mean lesbian. Justice for Kaede tbh

I hate to be bringing up Danganronpa. But oh my god. This fandom used to be KNOWN for it's toxic treatment towards the female love interests of the male protagonists, and she is notoriously known as THE victim of yaoi for the entire fandom. She's a pianist and the supporting character, having some really cute moments with Shuichi Saihara, the (male) main character. Especially in 2019, she suffered immense hate because of the amount of Saiouma shippers, the most popular V3 ship and in the top 2 for the entire fandom which is the ship between Shuichi and Kokichi Ouma, the (also male, just like Shuichi, hence the yaoi victim) antagonist of the game. If I had a dollar for every time I saw people hating on her, specifically just because she "gets in the way" of Saiouma, I would be able to buy V3 at least sixteen times.

The anime series Danganronpa 3's ending somewhat implied she and Makoto are a couple but the fandom likes to ship Makoto with Byakuya much more. The same anime series also saw a lot of hatred against her character and well, it was already there because people also complain about how she acted in the original Danganronpa Trigger Happy Havoc game as well, unfairly in my opinion. She's really cool and really smart and just isn't the quickest to trust people, which makes sense considering she's in fucking death games. Her deduction skills and strategy played a big part in saving the people who did make it out BOTH times she was in killing games and in one of those cases she was even willing to potentially sacrifice herself for it. I'll stop now but she is my most mistreated fave

Number 1 (bc I’m such a cheesy romantic at heart it’s unbearable) “I will take care of you for the rest of my life” PROPOSAL

Prapai, Sir, please, will you stop coming for my heart?! It’s just perfection. I mean. A real proposal here wouldn’t have worked, and would have somehow destroyed the whole dynamic PrapaiSky made their own. But this? This is them. 100%. Prapai not rushing into things, giving Sky a headup and a security at the same time. ‘I won’t go anywhere. It will always be you for me’. And isn’t that extremely beautiful? Are there any words expressing a deep seated love better than this? I highly doubt it. It’s simply perfect.  And can we talk about Sky’s smile? The ease? The trust, the LOVE we see there? Amazing.  He learned to love, learned what REAL LOVE is all through Prapai. He got to know how it feels to feel secure with someone. To know he want your best, and he wants your happiness.  I can’t express how much that affects me on so many levels I stopped counting. 

Number 2  THE CONFERENCE TABLE SCENE (bc fucking hell YES)

This is a war. With Place No1, really. Because… I mean…. You get me, right?  That was beyond hot.  The little game those two were playing? Sky’s side-eyes and him biting his lip when he sees Prapai coming his way? Man was prepared from the start. Man was on a mission the moment he arrived (bc srsly. No shirt? No underwear. Hellllooooo~) Prapai entirely unhinged? The chair turn? The way he attaches himself to Sky’s skin as if he’s an oasis after an endless walk in the desert? THE WAY HE LIFTS SKY FROM THE CHAIR? Also… the hickey’s on Sky’s chest that were surely NOT make up.  Sky’s expressions? On point of how it looks when one gets rawed? I mean… we all know I’m a kinky little beast, but that one got even to me.  Jaw dropping scene. Really

Number 3 TRUTH SCENE

I’m not even close of being capable to express the whole scene as good as @bird-inacage, so please read this post if you wanna go into the feels. For me, personal, this scene means a lot. On a ’funny’ sidenote, Fort’s acting as Prapai single handedly got me out of my own trauma I was wallowing in since seven years. No joke.  It’s the quiet reassurance, the ‘I am here, I am hearing you out, I am not judging you badly for what happened to you, or how you think badly about yourself’. It just got me.  The tears that rolled down Prapai’s face? The pain he was going through knowing what Sky went through? Intense. The acting was intense. The scene was intense. The wounds it had reopened in myself were intense. But also the healing, the way you saw Sky healing just a tad bit. The “Can I love you?” - because let’s be real. This is THE fear if you ever got burned badly. I could ramble about that scene for hours. 

Number 4 RESCUE SCENE

Linking back to @bird-inacage again bc damn did that post do things to me.  (We’re running briefly into sad hours, pls forgive me) For several reasons that scene got to me. I might or might not have re-watched it several times just to see if it still triggers me or if I managed to heal.  I saw myself in Sky SO MUCH it was almost scary (Peat is a hell of an actor. Can we award him?). Not gonna go into detail bc I suspect no one’s ever wants to hear that. So just lemme say the way Prapai reacted was superb. In all those years I always wished for such a reaction, and seeing it on screen did a number on me.  It’s refreshing to see that there is this tiny possibility of hope for finding care in such moments.  The scene holds a special place in my heart and somehow became my comfort zone (as weird as it sounds.)

Number 5  FIRST TIME LOVE MAKING

Not to be horny on main (but really, I can’t help it. It’s just the way I tick), but that scene was absolutely beautiful. It’s overflowing with love, tenderness and affection.  This is how love making should look like. The deep connection between them, the kisses, the adoration, the longing and yearning still running through them even though they are as close as two can be.  You get the feeling they want to become one, and honestly, is there anything more beautiful than this?

Fave LOTR character and why?

Oof, this is a tough one. It's a tossup between Aragorn or Merry, honestly; Aragorn takes the #1 spot, but it's close. (You opened a can of worms, friend, because I could talk about LOTR for days; this is gonna be long, lol.)

For Merry, I love his combination of having that rascal energy with Pippin but also this quiet, serious dedication to his friends. It doesn't make it into the movies, but I love this quote of his from the books:

“You can trust us to stick to you through thick and thin – to the bitter end. And you can trust us to keep any secret of yours – closer than you yourself keep it. But you cannot trust us to let you face trouble alone, and go off without a word. We are your friends, Frodo. Anyway: there it is. We know most of what Gandalf has told you. We know a good deal about the ring. We are horribly afraid–but we are coming with you; or following you like hounds.”

Of all the hobbits, I feel like he's right up there with Frodo in really recognizing how small he is in the world--both in terms of size and influence--but it doesn't stop him from acting once he's decided he needs to. Following after Frodo, distracting the Uruk-Hai so Frodo can make a break for it, rallying the Ents, fighting with the Rohirrim, helping Eowyn kill the Witch-King...I love how he's the epitome of a small rock thrown into a pool that ends up making ripples so much bigger than you'd expect.

And Aragorn...well. Beyond my enduring crush on him, because Viggo Mortensen gave us all a great gift by being so handsome perfect for the role, his character and character arc are so incredibly interesting and dense. He has the epitome of Main Character Energy, and he checks off damn near every 'the protagonist is so special' trait on the list. He's the descendant of royalty and the heir to the throne; he's a human/elf mix blessed with long life; his bloodline has a Dramatic Burden(TM) that he has to discharge to restore their honor; he's part of an old, respected group of extremely skilled individuals who are highly secretive and masters of the wild. If he had been a woman, the Mary Sue accusations would still be flying, even 70 years later.

But despite all that, Aragorn, to me, is so incredibly human. He's excruciatingly aware of his legacy and the weight his name/bloodline carries, but (or because of that) there's a big part of him that just wants to be Some Guy. He's been part of the Rangers for decades, wandering the wild, looking after the Shire, helping people, and it's important to him; that sense of service and duty is a big part of his nature. But as a Ranger, he gets to do it on his terms: he can keep his heritage quiet, the other Rangers will respect that, and he can help and heal without the near-crushing weight of looking after a whole kingdom and trying to make up for the mistake of an ancestor who screwed the pooch so bad it literally fucked over all of Middle Earth. Aragorn spends years in anonymity because he has such a human fear of repeating Isildur's mistakes, of trying to pick up all the weight that goes with his inheritance. He's been trying to live in the elven part of his heritage because that's so much less fraught than the human half, and yeah, it means he's been running from his duty to Gondor, but God, can you blame him? If I had that much expectation piled on my shoulders, I'd disappear into the wilderness and take on three different names too.

And yet despite his fear, Aragorn does face the same temptation as Isildur did, and he overcomes it easily. I really like that contrary to Isildur's temptation by the Ring--after an epic battle, set against The most extra backdrop ever by being in the middle of an active volcano--Aragorn's is quiet and understated. Frodo stops just short of offering the Ring to him, it calls Aragorn by name, and yet he's able to say no, to resist that pull (and, I think, gain some empathy for the ancestor he's resented all these years) in a matter of seconds, and gently press the Ring back into Frodo's keeping. And Aragorn keeps proving he has that strength of will and integrity; he confronts Sauron in the palantir and doesn't fall to despair or greed the way Denethor and Saruman did, he faces the army of Mordor at the Black Gate with Sauron calling him by name once again--and he runs straight at that army headfirst, with not so much a hope of victory as the intention to buy Frodo and Sam as much time as he can. After all his years of being afraid he'll fall to the Ring just like Isildur did, Aragorn keeps spitting in Sauron's eye (lol) and barely misses a stride.

And I really like that the thing that finally convinces Aragorn to acknowledge and take up his duty is not any desire for recognition or greatness or a crown, it's out of friendship and love--it's to honor Boromir's sacrifice, the duty he's lived for Gondor all his life, and to fulfill Aragorn's promise to him that he would look after their people. I think that, much like Frodo, Aragorn is going through the events of the movies in a state of resigned determination and fear, with this sense that things are so much bigger than he is, even with all his skills and Main Character Energy. But he keeps going anyway, because that sense of duty is what drives him, and I love that about his character.

So yeah, one essay later, here is your tl;dr answer: Aragorn is still (and probably forever) my favorite, and I personally think Tolkien knocked it out of the park with his character design.

“Hey guys let us have a look.” Rich from forensics said as you followed him into Bob Taylor’s back yard.

The two people digging backed off so you three could see.

“Two kids size department store mannequins with the heads caved in.

I just talked to our lab guys they told me all the blood we sampled from the plastic containers? Pigs blood.”

“Shit.” You remarked in disbelief. You had seen some shit but this was on your top 10 list of creepy things for sure.

You followed Rich and Loki inside the home, loki stopping to hold the door open for you. Ah so chivalry still isn’t dead.

You offered him a quiet “thanks.”

You and Loki followed him into the kitchen.

“It’s like he’s play acting. Case in-point: except for the few items ID’d by the Dovers and the Birches..All the kids clothes that we found still have the tags on them them.”

You were right- you were fucking right.

Queue ego boost in 3..2..1.

“And that maze book that we found- he made it. Photocopies. Pictures form this book we found in the attic. Ex FBI agent wrote that.” Rich explained as you and Loki leaned in over his shoulder.

“Finding the invisible man.” Loki read.

You hid your shit- eating grin by putting your hand to your face and resting it there. You were right. You knew it, and now Loki had his precious evidence to back it up. You had been quiet all morning, chalk it up to exhaustion or frustration with Loki -either would be a good excuse.

“OK, so he read the book and decided he was taken by the invisible Man. Now he’s doing his best imitation, right?”

“Yeah, he was doing his best imitation..killed himself last night.”

“How’d he do that? I thought he was in custody?”

Loki sauntered away from the counter at which you and Rich were standing, avoiding the question.

He looked at the scribbles on the kitchen wall.

“That means you were right, (l/n), holy shit. Tell him- tell Rich what you told me last night.”

Oh so now he wants to hear your theory? Where was his enthusiasm last night?

“My theory, now proved right, is he’s taking credit for someone else’s work.” You explained. “That he’s too disorganized for something of this scale. Couldn’t take one kid, let alone two.”

“Well, Dr. (l/n), I’d say the evidence definitely proves you right. The girls are still out there. Just keep knocking on doors and looking in windows.”

Before you could get another word in Loki was speaking again.

“Hey Taylor drew this.” Loki said pulling out the piece of paper. “Its a map to the bodies. It’s a map to the bodies! We found the same design on a pendant we pulled off the corpse the other day. There’s a connection. There’s a connection okay?”

“The connection is that it’s the last maze in the book. I did it, it’s unsolvable. There’s no way out. Your corpse is another wanna be who read the book. “ Rich said dismissively.

You walked away from where the two were standing, running your hand along the kitchen wall. A cold chill ran down your spine, Taylor’s home was disturbing to say the least, and yet you found yourself wishing that he could’ve gotten the psychological help he needed.

“but-but- How did Bob Taylor get those clothes? How did- how did- how did the parents positively ID those clothes?!” Loki questioned, now yelling.

“That I can’t reconcile.” He said, walking into the living area.

You leaned against the wall, crossing your arms. The question still stood- how did the parents identify the clothes? You’d been racking your brain all night to find a answer. You didn’t have one. Yet.

You looked at Loki and you knew that look; you could see the cogs in his brain turning.

He pulled out his notebook. You leaned in beside him to see what he was doing.

He flipped a few pages back.

In the house

You both looked at each other and had the same revelation.

“The window!” You said in unison.

“The piece of clothing Keller Dover ID’d was a sock. One sock.” Loki said, holding up his index finger. “Maybe- maybe there’s evidence still there!”

“Let’s go” you said, heading for the car, David on your heels.

While en route to the Dover residence, Loki kept stealing glances at you.

You stared out the window, pretending not to notice.

“You can say it.” He blurted out.

“Say what?”

Either she was naïve, or someone who didn’t hold grudges. And Loki knew she wasn’t naïve.

“You can say ‘ I told you so.’ “

“Loki-“ you huffed.

“Look uh- I’m uh, I’m sorry. For last night.” He blurted out.

“I appreciate the apology, Loki.” You said. “I know we’re under a lot of stress and this case hasn’t made a whole lotta sense, But I want you to know that I’m not the type to say ‘I told you so’. It’s not helpful. To anyone.”

Loki stayed silent for a few moments for fear of feelings gushing out of him like a raging river. She was so nice and understanding and empathetic. He wasn’t used to others acting so kindly towards him.

“I really am sorry, (y/n), yesterday I was so caught up in thinking Bob’s suicide was my fault and that I had royally fucked up our only chance to find the girls.. I thought all hope was lost. When you offered me hope, I just couldn’t believe it.”

“Thank you for sharing, Loki. I know it’s not easy to let others in.” You said, satisfied to get a genuine emotional response from the man.

Loki smirked as he thought to himself.

She said that as if she’s not the reason I’m opening up. I’ve known O’Malley, Rich, and Chemelnski for years and ain’t never opened up to them. I don’t know what’s gotten in to me..well I do actually…it’s her.. her presence is..comforting.

“You should know that It was highly likely that Bob Taylor would have spiraled and become suicidal anyways or would have eventually gained confidence to actually kidnap someone.” You explained, hoping to ease Loki’s burden.

Loki glanced at you once again with an unreadable expression.

“Yesterday Keller Dover told me this was all my fault. That I wasted too much time watching him. It’s not Taylor I feel guilty about. It’s the girls.”

“We’ll find them.” You reassured him.

“You think they’re alive?”

You shrugged your shoulders “we can hope.”

The car pulled to a screeching halt in front of the Dover’s house.

Loki bolted out of the car and around to the back of the house. You not far behind.

Loki then jumped over the chain link fence with ease, and you followed, albeit a bit less graceful than the detective. All the days you spent doing nothing but office work were catching up with you.

You and Loki began to search the area, you looked for footprints, clothing fibers, anything that suggested Bob had been there.

There, in the mud, was your confirmation.

Footprints. You counted yourself lucky that they were still there, it had been wet and rainy the past week so the yard was muddy and slick.

Loki knelt down to the ground under the window, his eyes frantically searching the area.

He was a bit of a mess with strands of hair hanging down around his face and his five o clock shadow peeking through. He was so attractive it was almost unreal.

“Look!” Loki said, crouching down to dig in the bush.

Loki held up Anna Dover’s matching sock with a pen.

Your eyes grew wide. “Well, I’ll be damned.” You said, crouching down next to him.

You were perplexed as how Bob pulled this off without being seen.

“Hell, if Keller Dover was out and about doing God knows what and Grace Dover has been hopped-up on sleeping pills this whole time, he may have been able to slip in undetected.” You stated.

“Yeah.” Loki agreed.

“You got an evidence bag?” He asked.

“Fresh out.” You replied. You prided yourself on being prepared. But that didn’t mean you stashed evidence bags in your pockets.

“Got some in the trunk, also a camera to document the footprints.”

“Got it, I’ll grab them.” You said searching for a gate or break in the fence. Apparently the Dover’s didn’t believe in a gate of sorts, so you had no choice but to hop the fence again.

After retrieving the items from the trunk, you handed them to Loki before jumping back over the fence.

You hoisted yourself over the metal chain link, but the slick leaves and mud got the better of you as your feet were swept out from under you.

But just before you hit the ground, a pair of very strong arms caught you.

“I got you.” Loki spoke softly, bringing you back to a standing position.

“Thanks.” You replied, locking eyes with the detective.

Once again you and Loki found yourselves in very close proximity to one another, his hands were not leaving your body and you certainly were not complaining.

Out of pure instinct, you reached up to brush the fallen strands of hair from David’s eyes.

He immediately grew stiff at your touch, shocked at the sudden intimate gesture.

He took a step back, releasing his grasp on you. Though he instantly regretted it after seeing the look of rejection on your face.

He internally cursed himself…first time someone touched him like that in years and he freaked out.

Stupid

“Uh..” he stuttered, “sorry…I- uh..we should get back. Get a definitive match on these footprints.”

You awkwardly cleared your throat.

“No, yeah, we should.” You agreed, the barely noticeable waiver in your voice was like a punch straight to Loki’s gut.

He wanted to explain..It’s not you, it’s me. It’s my trauma, my past. I’m sorry. I want nothing more than to kiss you right now. But I’m scared.

But he stayed silent. And so did (y/n).

Back at the station, Loki was in the forensics lab with Rich comparing the footprints.

“Yeah they’re definitely a match.” Rich said confidently. “It’s the exact same shoe Taylor was wearing when night shift processed the scene in the interrogation room.”

“Alright, thanks”. Loki said and turned to leave.

“You should tell her how you feel.”

Loki stopped in his tracks.

“What?”

“(L/N)..you should tell her.”

Loki always prided himself on being able to hide his feelings, to push them down so far they didn’t show, but apparently he wasn’t as good at it as he thought.

“Wha-how did you know-?”

“Loki, I’ve known you for a long time.” Rich said. “It’s the way you look at her.”

“And how am I looking at her?” Loki hissed, putting his hands on his hips.

“Without the same scowl you have with everyone else.”

Okay maybe Rich was onto something. “But..but she’s going home to DC when the case is over. I-“

“Yeah. That’s exactly that’s why you should do something about it now. Washington DC is not that far from here; couple hours drive at most. She obviously cares about you, and besides…It’s about time you had something more than work in your life.”

Loki walked off without saying anything, too busy pondering the wise words Rich had given him.

Maybe he was right. Loki hadn’t felt this way towards anyone in ages. He had two chances to kiss her and fumbled each one. Keller Dovers’ words about wasting time echoed in his mind. With a sudden surge of confidence, Loki decided right then and there that he was done wasting time.

Honestly I think I hate Cersei because she thinks she is some mastermind while she isn’t. Tywin and how he keep holding power for so long is very interesting, btw I love Tywin and Kevan dynamics. Jaime is my fave i just love his storyline. As for Tyrion, there are 2 of them. The book one and the show one. Show one I hate. Book one I kinda enjoy because he constantly flirts with darkness. I don’t buy show Tyrion poor misunderstood meow meow. And I hate that they did the same with show Aemond. That’s why I prefer Aegon and Daemon. From the beginning you know where they stand, there are no attempts to make them sympathetic bullshit. Stop whitewashing characters in order to make characters more sympathising for audience. The reason why the Joker, Soprano Family and Roy family from Succession are so great is because they aren’t portrayed as some poor people being victims of their circumstances all their life. Aemond wanting to console Jace at Driftmark? What the fuck is that? Also giving him sexual trauma made me laugh. The show made it clear I and everyone else is meant to feel sorry for him but I just laughed at how pathetic they are. Like you have weak Viserys, pedo Daemon, rapist and drunkard Aegon and traumatised and with only one eye Aemond. So yeah, the winner of who should be the fan favourite is clear. Instead of showing the 4 of them as bad and letting people choose who their favourite is, they create 3 of them in unsympathetic light and make one of them #1 victim and the other 3 as monsters or weak men. Sorry but I hate the narrative where I am being shown down my throat who I am supposed to love and who to hate. Especially if 3 out of 4 characters are doing terrible things and only one behaves properly until starting the war. I really can’t wait for Aemond to burn Riverlands, most stans would leave his fanclub and began to see Aegon is not the worst guy out there. I just hope TGC won’t stop playing Aegon until the moment Aemond will show everyone what a legit psycho he really is.

idk what to tell you, anon, this is not exactly the blog for cersei haters. i've always found this prevailing tendency of enjoying jaime as a character but disliking cersei to be very strange, bc their POVs are so intertwined and they are as delusional & "awful" as the other so i don't really see the point here. it's a choice i would personally interrogate bc more often than not it has some v unsavory roots. cersei can be just as funny as jaime and he can be just as unhinged as her. also cersei's dumbness is greatly exaggerated, she does have some good ideas and a knack for getting out of tricky situations (some of them of her own making, yes, but she's hardly the idiot fandom likes to paint her as). fans sure love to think they would have made better decisions had they been in her situation.

she also suffers from getting a POV so late in the game, in comparison to her brothers, and is way more affected psychologically by the death of her son than jaime is + the prophecy hanging over her head. she's basically having the worst mental health crisis in AFFC and getting judged for not being Machiavelli's Prince

as for the rest of the message, as i've said in a previous post, i see this desire to not allow characters to be anything other than cardboard villains very reductive and not smth i'm personally interested in fiction. narrative bias and needless demonisation at the expense of others is one thing, but, generally-speaking, why is it somehow superior if they only receive dark traits instead of being humanized & muddled? why is it better writing if aemond is only shown as a psycho killing machine? are the literature gods going to get angry if he tries to be polite one time? the roy siblings weren't coddled by the narrative but they were also shown acting like human beings (clumsily) trying to connect with people

also no actor is going to turn down hbo money and the opportunity to appear in one of the most viewed shows of the year, so i don't see why tgc would stop playing aegon, unless he were fired. these people are professional actors, they may not like or agree with certain character choices but they don't have the luxury of turning down jobs bc of their character is not "true to the text". they still have bills to pay.
