also i will admit that barry being tricked into throwing a full-force lightning bolt at iris and hitting her with every single bit of the godlike strength he’s been building up all season was a really good twist. very reminiscent of gwen’s death in TASM, very poignant, had the potential to be really emotionally devastating plot... if they hadn’t done such a piss-poor job of building up to it. idk how they all fumbled this one so badly, like unanimously fucked up what should have been this massively devastating moment
like first of all, they spent half the season completely downplaying westallen’s relationship and iris’ importance as a whole. they have done her a HUGE fucking disservice this season, honestly. like we know how important she is. we saw literally just 2 seasons ago that when iris disappeared and was replaced, barry did not fucking rest until he had figured out how to get her back, to the point where he did some extremely deranged things in order to get her out of the mirrorverse. but in this season everyone was literally like “iris is missing? well she’ll turn up, i guess :/ ”
like i really liked the curious case of bartholomew allen, it was a really fun ep, but they were playing DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS while iris was trapped in some fucking alternate time loop dimension. i’m sorry, if you told barry that some future version of himself was playing D&D and getting his cheeks pinched by old ladies while iris was missing, he would hunt that version of himself down and punch him so fucking hard??
and it’s like okay, so the writing of the show these days is often Not Great. i have come to accept this as an unfortunate fact of life. but we can at least generally rely on the cast to deliver a good performance. they do the best they can with what they have, you know? and all credit to them for delivering some of this godawful material and actually pulling off a very good performance that almost makes you forget how much the writing sucks
except apparently now we can’t even trust them to do that because i just watched mr barry allen accidentally electrocute his own wife and not shed a SINGLE TEAR.
we know grant can act so why the FUCK did he not give it a bit more oomph in this scene. like. barry is fighting the negative forces, they have godlike power, so he is giving it all he’s got. and just as he hits the peak and throws all of this deadly lightning, at the moment it leaves his fingertips and he no longer has any control over it, iris appears in its path. there is literally nothing he can do to stop it, it’s too late, and he is powerless to do anything but look on in horror as iris takes the full force of what is maybe the most powerful blow the flash has ever dealt
and THIS is the reaction we get?
like sorry, i saw him get more upset over the fucking mug that joe broke in season 1. what the hell is this??
this is IRIS we’re talking about. when savitar killed her in season 3, barry was fucking screaming his throat raw, clinging to her, tears streaming down his face. take a look at these two scenes and tell me they are even REMOTELY comparable. i dare you
when savitar killed iris, barry was DESTROYED and that wasn’t even his fault. you’re telling me that he could deliver the death blow HIMSELF, shoot a bajillion bolts of lightning into her chest, and then not shed a single tear? grant gets paid too much money to phone it in like that, i’m sorry

Gravity Falls canon divergence AU where Bill does send someone to steal Ford's eyes and then possesses Fiddleford to approach blind Ford. Fiddleford/Bill nurses Ford back to health, and then pretends to be sorry for leaving Ford, he sticks around to help him adjust to losing his sight. Eventually, an extremely exhausted and broken Ford breaks down and confesses everything that truly happened during their partnership, and Fiddleford/Bill "comforts" him. He promises to never leave him, saying that he won't let that "monster" hurt Ford ever again.
Bill thinks it would be too risky to convince Ford to continue with the portal so soon, afraid of arousing his suspicion, so he just ends up moving in and caring for blind Ford, gaining his trust everyday a little more. What Bill doesn't expect is that he enjoys their current situation way more than he thought he would (Ford is dependent on him once again, he doesn't even know he's being tricked, the fool, but also Bill can be close to him again, they can play and banter and it's like nothing ever changed), and years pass without any work being done on the portal as they grow closer and closer.
It's only decades later that Bill slips up and leaves for some business in the middle of the night. Ford wakes up for a cup of water to find mind broken Fiddleford wandering around his kitchen muttering about a demon living in his head and keeping him trapped.

it's like, i really do enjoy most of the bats as characters and i really do like a lot of their comics. but also i am sooooo tired of them being hailed as better than literally everyone else. both in fanon but also in comics (modern ones are esp egregious imo, like WHAT was that shit about batman and the joker being the most dangerous men on the planet. hi. have you heard of lanterns? speedsters? supers? actually if i keep listing groups who could kick batman's ass we'd be here all day). they're like kudzu. that shit needs to stay in its native environment (funky little neo-noir detective stories) and stop being an invasive species (putting down everyone else to make them seem cooler). put bruce wayne back into a murder mystery setting that isn't about saving the world but is about saving one person or one family that no one else would've saved right now or so help me god. the whole invasive species cross contamination thing is unhealthy for both him And the other ecosystems he keeps getting transplanted into. please. it's so dark in here

"Louis acting like a pimp to Armand" And what is a pimp exactly? Quickly. And, oh so sexual trauma survivors can't engage in kink now without it being all about that? Pet names? They can't be submissive anymore? Consensually? Sexually healthy? Be serious. I'd hardly say there's much power difference between them during all this anyway, except that Louis is freer than Armand and it's been putting a strain on their relationship. Louis wants more from Armand, and less of this 'being his past' for them both, and so helping Armand with this could fix that. It's healthy to want to help your partners get out of a rough patch?
I mean, the whole exchange was very clearly set up as a "I want to help you" after such a great moment of vulnerability Louis feels just how much Armand is desperate for it. Louis called Armand so they could work out a plan together.
And the bit with the umbrella was Louis' way of asking 'are you willing to listen to me?' and Armand said yes by unfolding it. Louis goes on and explains, Armand is allowed to argue against it, but Louis makes his point. And then he gives Armand a way to make his own choice in it too. Armand's already decided 'I want you, more than anything else in the world', but Louis still asks after if he's sure of his choice, and with a name, Arun, that is the one of his fullest agency, running the point home. Honoring the situation Armand calls Louis Maitre - as a way of being like 'I'll do as you've said then'. To make this work he's going to have to give Louis some of the control, yes. But it's the first time such a role is ever established, and it was his choice to do it. So so what if they do it in a very suggestive way? They can't like doing that? I think it's them having fun.
I struggle to find how Louis is being overly domineering here when really he's giving and offering Armand the most agency he's ever had. Same with finding it manipulative. The manipulation was more earlier in the episode I think, when he was stringing him along, giving mixed signals. He's no longer toying with him like that. Louis might be pushing Armand, leading him on to make a decision, but he doesn't mean bad by it.
But back to this pimp thing. I find it frankly offensive that this is where people are going with this. I get it, but to run with it being the case is, on many levels, wrong.
Louis told us episode 1 this was the only sustainable line of work to support his family and keep their standing, at the time. It was never his choice to be doing this either but his blackness allowed no other options. He did what he did so his family could stay in that house and maintain all their same comforts. It gave him privileges most black men didn't have at the time that he wanted to maintain and even have more of. Anyway, it doesn't and had never defined him the way 'being good at running things' had. And in that case he just likes having that kind of control where he can get it, which makes sense.
The world is what placed that kind of role onto him of what he was allowed to be able to run, not himself. And on that he actually treated the sex workers he employed well and respected them enough to give them more opportunity.** He recognizes they don't have much in the way of options either.
Louis employed sex workers, yes, but he didn't subject them to abuse, (like how Armand was)*. He didn't oversee things in a way that would go against their consent (see; episode 1 again)**. Sometimes a job is just a job. And Sex work is work.
Armand's particular past with sexual abuses may strike a particular cord with Louis, given all that, but the very last thing either is thinking is that Louis' pimping Armand out here. This is merely their decision as companions, and had nothing to do with adding another line in a laundry list of selling Armands body out to people at the command of someone else. Armand rescinds some of his control to Louis' wishes, because he wants him, and he trusts him, that's all.
If you aren't allowing Armand that choice, and are doubtful it's fully his, you're putting him right back in the box of being defined by his abuses. Putting him back into that space where he isn't given any agency over what he does. (Which is exactly opposite of what the intent of this scene is for)*.
*: (edit) added for clarity.
**: (strike through) numerous people are saying I'm misremembering these points so disregard it. (Thought he was siding with Bricks, it was the other way around). (Technically one aspect of those opportunities were for getting around the law). I don't have a perfect memory, it happens. Let's not get mad about it. Doesn't change much of the point which is that Louis, now, Louis then, was always considering more about the running things and for stated purposes. So I guess I'd say he may only have respected the SWers enough sometimes for what allowed him to do that, and there are moments he certainly expressed remorse over the fact, but he has a great deal higher respect for Armand that is genuine. It's incomparable. Please read my added notes in the tags, it should address most other concerns.

One of the funniest things about Porter not having a back up plan/be able to improvise is that he didn't even realise the plan had gone to shit. He had to be told Kipperlilly was dead.
And I know, you know, she was under the floorboards but she was the one person in that entire gym other than Porter who a) willingly took the rage star for him and b) could actually do the bit of the plan he needed and he didn't even notice she died.

I think Tallulah is lying to herself when she says she's scared of the new eggs. Not completely, I don't doubt they make her nervous, but I'd bet Sunny and Tubbo are the root of her fear and she doesn't want to admit it.
I'd bet Tallulah doesn't like that she doesn't like Sunny. She wants to like everyone, but she doesn't like Sunny. So it must be because the eggs are new, right? All the new eggs are scary. Because they came from that horrible island. Because we don't know what they want from us. She couldn't possibly dislike Sunny just because she's loud and brave and loved by someone who used to put her first.
We know Tallulah was overwhelmed the first time she met Sunny. Sunny came up and tried to say hello first thing and Tallulah got barely anytime between that introduction and discovering Sunny is Tubbo's kid.
She was overwhelmed that whole time through meeting Em and Sunny, but one of the only times we see her relax is when she's teasing Tubbo about relationships. Because she loves Tubbo; he always works to make her feel seen. Then he leaves immediately off with his daughter.
Then yesterday, we heard Tallulah's concerns re: the new eggs. She also expresses concern over Niki and Tubbo's reaction over her hesistance. Especially Tubbo. She brings up Tubbo the most. While she really loves Niki, they haven't spent that much time together. When Phil left, Niki was supposed to watch Tallulah but instead Tubbo cared for Chay and her by himself. That last week before they left, Tubbo spent the whole time making sure they stayed alive. He comforted her on that last day. He shooed the others away and brought them to uppies and sang Jort Storm!
And then on that island, he stayed by her the whole time in that awful room. Waving and dancing and keeping her attention even when things were confusing and her papi wasn't there and they were in danger.
But now he has a daughter. A daughter he's going to put first, the way he put her first. A daughter she saw with her own eyes who seems louder and cooler and braver than she's ever felt. Where does that leave her? Another person gone from her life? Left behind for something better?
Why would she want to know the egg that's taking someone else from her. An egg her papa says steals and takes and wants. An egg who stole and took and wanted Tubbo. An egg we don't know the background of.
Today I think showed proof of Tallulah's underlying insecurities with regards to Sunny and Tubbo. She was totally fine to ignore Pepito when he woke up. He didn't interact with her, but she stayed in the area. It could just be that he didn't interact with her so it was okay, but that's the point. Pepito isn't trying to take anything from her.
Sunny though? We saw Tallulah get upset and leave at the mere mention of Sunny when she asked about Tubbo's crown. Tubbo who's showing his daughter's ownership love of him at all times. She turned around and left immediately after he said that.
We haven't seen much interaction with Tallulah and the new eggs, for obvious reasons. That said, I bet when we do it'll become clearer that her concern is centred around one egg in particular! And it'll be GREAT angst because Tallulah doesn't want to dislike someone, but she does. What happens when she can't hide behind fear of the other eggs? Or her grounding? What does she do then?

I'm thinking of making Devil Eyes Officer Y/N a smoker, not like a chain smoker, but one who had previously smoked before joining the police academy and had quit, and then once inflicted with Eclipse's torment, turned back to smoking as an unhealthy coping mechanism (this would also include, of course, Eclipse's reaction to such a thing (he does not like it)), but, I'm afraid this will be a turnoff?? for readers?? so let me just ask

idea. since askdusttale answered an ask about where dust got his determination from (because dust has SOME determination just so he can remember the timelines and keep going against the human) and said it was totally up to personal interpretation on how he got his determination. so so so like what if what if dusttale's player did something similar to something new's player and changed dust's code to give him determination??? so dust and killer COULD BOTH had their codes tampered with??? the parallels would be INSANE. they both started off as sans and got their codes tampered with by the player but dust and killer went on two opposite paths. dust out of his own voalition decided to go against the human but killer had to team up with the human no choice at all. the opposite parallels go CRAZY oh god im tweaking
killer doesn't know exactly (since i forgot whether or not he can see codes or something like that. i swear there was an image of him describing fell and swap's code and then his own) but he can SENSE that something's off. something's different about dust that he doesn't quite know about. maybe it gets him to ask a bunch of questions that dust is definitely not open to answering because jesus man mind your own damn business but the question that really sets killer off is the way dust answers when he asks "so if you have determination then how did you get it?" and dust just shrugs his shoulders and said that one day he suddenly remembered the resets and then that's when he got it (and then goes back to mumbling to phantom paps or wtvr) and killer's just like. zomg. a sudden change in behavior or mentality that seemingly has no apparent reason related to the human???? like like like when he suddenly had to agree with the player despite literally never wanting to????? killer is over thinking the implications behind this
meanwhile dust is just annoyed now because killer keeps on following him. he keeps asking him strange questions. wtf why is the guy asking to see his SOUL that's incredibly personal???? he just wants to be left alone man he has no idea what's going on

geppetto is so bold for bringing up that p hasn't inherited carlo's memories from his ergo as a negative point like that's not the luckiest thing that could've happened to him. can you IMAGINE if that puppet had actually woken up with carlo's full aware consciousness running it.
