Most Harem anime present everyone as an option for the protagonist, though sometimes there is preferred option or head girl.
In Ranma 1/2, as you said, the harem is generally there for the sake of antagonizing Ranma and Akane's relationship like the rivals. Infact even the fathers tend to get in the their children's relationship.
The Ranma/Nabiki engagement plot was in both the manga and anime. In the manga, Nabiki had even more outrageous behavior such as trying to pimp out Ranma to Shampoo, Ukyo and Kodachi. The anime version removed/replced this scene, in line with Nabiki being generally nicer in the anime like Shampoo and several others.
Both the manga and anime reveal that Nabiki was not actually interested in being Ranma's fiance and her plan was Akane would buy him back from her, she actually thinks she went too far when it seems she broke them up for good.
Yeah, I remember Nabiki pimping Ranma out to the other suitors. Again, something that didn't really bother me as a kid because I didn't really understand it, but looking back as an adult it's like "Wow, that's super gross."
As I recall, Ranma 1/2 was kind of just. Like that. It's kinda like 8-Bit Theater. Nearly every character is an extreme over-the-top caricature of an asshole in one way or another, and the comedy is driven by the wild antics these characters inflict on each other with their behavior.
The main male protagonist is a guy whose dad absconded with him when he was little and promised his mom that he'd chisel him into a REAL MAN, and if Ranma fails to meet a certain threshold of masculinity then they'll both commit ritual seppuku. His mother even carries the seppuku blade with her whenever she comes to visit.
His father's method of teaching him masculinity is by training him in esoteric martial arts, such as tying a bunch of fish to him as a child and then throwing him in a pit full of cats - An unconventional form of training, to be sure, but one that successfully awoke in Ranma a deep and profound... uh... fear of cats.
The main female protagonist is a bitter misandrist who hates men because one day an unwanted harasser at school made a declaration that any man who wants to date her must first defeat her in a fight. Naturally, all the boys listened to him rather than, like, asking her opinion.
So now every time she goes to school, she has to physically fight off assaults from harassers trying to beat the shit out of her and declare their love. Consequently, she has a deep and frothing hatred for the entire male gender. But also, like, you get where that's coming from. I'd probably hate all men too.
And those are the two most sympathetic characters. It's a rabbit hole of broken people expressing themselves by trying to murder each other by way of mystical arts where you blast your foe with weaponized self-pity or erasing each other's memories with amnesia shampoo. One time Ryoga tried to cast a love spell on Akane that would make her fall for him but then accidentally hit Ranma instead. Genma created two entirely separate Forbidden Arts for breaking into people's homes and stealing all of their shit. There's an entire set of cursed springs all in one location carrying various curses based on whatever drowned in them in ancient fable, including a pig, a cat, a duck, a statue, an octopus (!?), and a yeti riding a bull while carrying a crane and eel.
Ranma 1/2 was a fucking trip. XD

Do you know about the tik tok eel pit guy? That’s reader, except the eels are her loving eelektross husbands and children. The Eel family pit
Emmet slithering around in your basement with Ingo going down there after spending some time with you after work. Inka and Emma want their own dadless space, but Emmet adores knowing their safe from the dangers of the ocean here.
----
You peered down into the hatch at the darkness below. Hissing echoed out before a familiar face moved where the light peered in. Emmet rested on the side of the platform with his slit pupils gazing at you. His gills pulsed with each of his breaths.
“Ingo is still being verrrry mean about his egg,” Emmet whined as you crawled down. Ingo was curled up in a corner, with his fins showing substantial growth since he first came down. He had taken off from his work to care for the egg, since his brain would only worry while he tried to do his tasks. His pale skin showed his gills easily and splashes of navy Eelektross skin that showed he was not entirely human as one might assume.
His aggressive body language faded as you approached. “The egg will likely hatch soon,” Ingo told you, “... I will stay down hers, naturally.” You shook your head, much to his displeasure.
“Ingo, the Depot Agents are convinced I killed you and hid your body down here,” you told him as you recalled the suspicious looks they had regarded you with, “After they hatch, you need to return even if it's partial. Emmet will watch over them when you can't.” Ingo pressed the small sphere of life closer to him and frowned deeply.
Emmet sighed at his brother's reaction and sneaked behind you to hug you, bringing you down into the chilly waters properly. You shivered and leaned into him. He gave a light nibble to your nape and hummed, “Food.”
You shook him off and crawled up the ladder quickly. The fish were then brought down carefully. Emmet immediately took his portion and swam off to devour it and leave some for the sleeping eel girls in the corner. Ingo had his brought to him by you, who quickly bit into them with inherent knowledge. You supposed he was born to the sea. “I thought you liked hamburgers more,” you joked.
“I… I do, but this is better. For now,” he bit into the flesh with his sharp teeth. Ingo certainly was his brother's twin, despite how different their bodies seemed. Sitting near him in the water, you watched as he shifted the egg to be between you both. It excited him endlessly to finally meet his child. Leaning on to this shoulder, you felt yourself at ease.

Omg yes!!! 'The story itself is constantly circling the drain of trying to understand Cody, and implied in that whole thing is the idea that Cody is... worth trying to understand' I'm utterly obsessed with this idea and it totally comes across.
Rest under a read more because I am crazy about this au and rambled lol
There's this feeling of Ben just kind of fighting to understand the guy, even though he doesn't want to. He's telling himself he doesn't want to but he does! He wants it so bad, he needs the context, but also, he kind of hates that he can understand Cody, its that mounting feeling of horror when you realise that you do understand why someone did a terrible thing to you and actually, that understanding doesn't make it better, it makes it worse. He wants to hate Cody, like he wants to hate all the clones, he tells himself he does hate them, because he wants it so bad, but the more he untangles, the more he has to face that Cody did this because he loves him and that doesn't make it better at all. It makes it hurt more, Cody's love is just a painful thing and it's harder to hate someone who hurt you because- they were hurt than it is to hate a 2d monster. Cody thinks that this is how you love and for the people who see that, it results in this horrible tangle of 'I didn't deserve that' and your love hurt me but also... I feel bad for you?
Through all these viewpoints, you really start to build this picture of Cody as a sympathetic character while Cody is fighting so hard against that. He doesn't want to be seen in that way! He's determined to sell this idea that he is a monster, that he did have a choice, that he is unforgivable. He can't bear to admit that he did wrong by Ben even though he clearly knows. He Knows and he can't stand that he knows.
He won't ask for forgiveness because he doesn't want to admit that he did something that requires forgiveness. He's survived so long by telling himself he had no choice. But also, he doesn't want to ask because a part of him knows even if he won't admit it and that part is convinced he isn't deserving of any forgiveness. The whole 'Ben kills me' seems to Cody like a neat ending to the whole thing. It's an obvious answer to him because confronting what he's done, living with himself, seems impossible and yet he doesn't feel like he deserves to 'escape' by his own hand. This is a punishment and a freeing all in one. His son can finally move past him and Cody doesn't have to live with what he's done.
And oh my god the parallels between Cody and Jango. There's that one moment where Jango's eyes are described in a really distinctive way and then, later, the same description is used to describe Cody's eyes, like oh my god that nearly killed me lol
I loved seeing Rex's side of things. You could really see this progression from Jango- to Rex's Cody- to Ben's Cody and then to the present Cody and also!! Rex as a parent. He is so aware of where Cody fucked up and as a parent revolts against Cody's flavour of parenting and yet, has far more of Cody and therefore Jango, in him than he'd like.
Tumblr media
This this this!!!!
Like oh my god Rex simply trying to comprehend like 'yeah I would literally never throw Leia in to a pit of eels what the actual fuck who does that' that was such a great moment. Its that horror you feel when confronted with the reality of something that happened to you, when you are in a position they were in and it's just like, oh my god you could have done anything else what is WRONG with you. And then the follow up moment of 'I know exactly what's wrong with you' and I kind of wish I didn't???' I can see the path that made you in to that person and honestly, it was easier when I saw you as a monster who set out to hurt me because the truth is a awful one, you set out to love me and you were awful at it!!! Like god. You aren't a monster, you are a person and your life made you in to a person that would do monstrous things and completely rationalise them!!! God I wish you hadn't been twisted in to this. I could have been loved by someone who knew what to do with that love but instead I got this version of you. It's that realisation that the good path narrowly escaped you both. The love was there but it wasn't enough. In another life, you knew how to be good, you knew what to do with that love and my life would have been better for that, both of our lives would have been better for that
I just binged all of your No Chip AU fics and I wanted to let you know I am so obsessed. I really loved the role swap au too but everything about the no chips au hit so hard. Cody having a choice, the gaslighting, everything with the good intentions, Cody the supervillain dad. Obi Wan willingly handing over all his weapons and trusting Cody was somehow so much more devastating than Cody trying to kill him. Also Fox and Rex and everyone else. Thank you for posting it, I love it so much.
THANKS I have no idea how that AU spiraled out of control but I couldn't stop thinking of ideas for it. I still have plenty of ideas that were never written - Fox & Sabi post-canon adventures, Cody's eventual redemption feat. Boba Fett, anything from Rebels. I would also rewrite the first story and More Than Zero, big time.
No Chip Cody's definitely one of the characters I've developed the most, and one of my favorites. In the end there ended up being something kind of tragic about that Cody. He was the best parent he knew how to be, the best man he knew how to be, and that person was the most evil person in the entire cast. For one reason or another, evil just always seemed like the best thing to do for his family. Over the course of the series you really do see him fall deeply in love with Obi-Wan, and you see him lose him because he couldn't admit when he was wrong. At the very end of it he's alone, the last remnant of a dying Empire, and he's hated by the many people who once loved him. He never felt like a bad person to me - just somebody who was always trying to pick the lesser of two evils, and who never knew good was an option.
It takes a while, and probably requires Cody's Great Redemption Story Feat. Boba Fett, but I think Ben forgives Cody one day. Ben's childhood had to have tremendously fucked him up in ways I think I understated, but I think Ben never wanted to hate Cody.
I also loved writing Rex BUGFUCK evil and Fox as the unproblematic fave. And Bly as both, somehow, simultaneously. Thanks for reading!!

L/N Y/N The only child of Aiko and Shintaro L/N. A perfect doll molded in their mother's image, a child who was devoid of outward emotions and disinterested in their peers. That was how the world viewed you, the perfect child born to the perfect family. It was a living hell packaged as the ideal family life, one your parent's peers envied.
You were expected to behave yourself no matter the situation, speak only when spoken to and no matter what you must never show emotions to anyone. They were lofty things to settle on a young childs shoulders, but there was no changing the hand you had been delt. Even from a young age you had rationalized it in your head as your parents being high powered people in Japan, giving you a cushy life therefore the least you can do is be their perfect child. As you grew and your parent's jobs further isolated you from your peers it became harder and harder to suppress the ever looming sense of dread that ate away at your very being. As the other children poked fun at your carefully curated uniform and your expressionless face the pit in your stomach only grew bigger as it threatened to swallow you whole. Though there was a light, no matter how dim, that had tugged you from your turbulent mind.
You were eight the first time you entered that fish store, hand cupped gently in your father's larger one as he wondered the store looking for the proper food for his beloved eel at home. An animal you would have despised, for being the only thing your father openly loved, had comprehension of your emotions not been verbally beaten from your mind by your private tutors from a young age. Slipping you small hand from his you wondered to the back of the store, bumping into the owner as he scuttled about stocking display tanks. The older man was the first person to gaze at you and truly see you as a child not just your mother's doll. A smile had tugged at his aging face as your little hand pointed at the fish carefully cradled in his hands. Your eyes practically sparkling as he held it out for you to gaze at, his words going in one ear and out the other as you watched the odd little fish swim about in the container. The only word that stuck in your mind was what he called it, a pleco.
Though the core memory of your lacking childhood was abruptly cut by your father scooping your tiny body up into his arms as he tucked the bag of eel food into the crook of his other elbow, apologies leaving his lips as he bowed to the older man. Despite the older man's reassurance that you were not a bother and he enjoyed sharing information about fish with people who would listen, your father promised to punish you properly when he was in the safety of his home. And punish you he had done, well your nanny had delt out the punishment, but like everything in your life you knew it was a direct order from your parents. With each passing moment sat in that chair locked in your desolate room, devoid of anything a child might find fun, your mind envisioned a tank with a large Pleco flitting about in the water content as can be. You imagined naming it after your favourite character from the movies you were permitted to watch, as well as telling it about your day and how the children at school poked fun at your expense.
And so the years went by, when you entered highschool at Fifteen you were allowed to walk yourself to and from school. Since your parents had moved into a home closer to the campus they felt the small freedom would do you good, though being alone with your thoughts did little to quell the insecurities and declining mental stability such a controlled childhood caused. On your first walk home you had passed by an empty lot filled with teens, peaking your head in you decided it was was best to avoid it when the realization it was a fight between delinquent gangs. Hastening your pace you practically sprinted down the sidewalk, dress shoes clicking against the pavement as the lot grew further and further away. Rounding the corner you slowed to a slow walk dreading your manners lessons when you arrived home, though the dread left your mind almost immediately as your eyes locked onto a building you had stored away in your mind. Hand gently grasping the wooden handle of the door, as if a tighter grip would cause the store to slip from between your fingers, you pushed it open. The shrill chime of the bell curling around your eardrum as you walked the store with three words on repeat in your mind 'Find the Pleco.' Nothing else mattered in that moment, not your lessons you were going to be late for. Not the punishment you would inevitably receive and not the expectations bearing down on your young shoulders.
As you stood in front of the large display tank housing several pleco all your worries melted away. All that mattered in that moment was finding a way to allow your parents to let you bring this little bit of peace back home with you. And like that you had begun a routine. Leaving your club activities early, much to the irritation of the student council president, and standing yourself in front of the Pleco tank for the thirty minutes you had free before you had to rush home, much to the irritation of the older teen working at the store. It had taken a month for your mother to cave and allow you to purchase one of the fish you adored. She had ordered the large tank from the same company who manufactured your father's several eel based decorative tanks, and once it arrived she had told you that this would be your responsibility as well as your only birthday present that year. And so on your sixteenth birthday as you gazed at the fish you loved so dearly, with the back of your head itching from the searing stare of the lanky delinquent who had been watching you for sometime, you waited for your mother.
After you had taken your pet home, you ended up naming her Kiko much to your parents annoyance as they had hoped you would choose from the list they permitted you to use when naming things that resided in your home. After that day you didn't step foot in the pet store until you were an adult and had moved into a small apartment for university, no longer weighed down by your parents you decided to redecorate your beloved Kiko's tank. The day you stepped back into that fateful store was the day you had came face to face with the once annoyed face of the older teen who had worked there, now a grown man it seemed as if he had taken over the store. He struck up a conversation with you as you paid for the live plant order for your tank, reminiscing about how he had missed your weird routine of watching the pleco tank his grandfather insisted on keeping as a display tank. That man, Takahashi Shion, had been the first and only person not put off by your short clipped answers. Oddly he had found it endearing, your little quirks had unknowingly endeared yourself towards him, after that odd reunion the two of you kept in contact. Eventually marrying when you had entered your third year of university, having a child several years later that you had named Ren after your partner's grandfather. The marriage after Ren's birth was turbulent and came to a swift and concise end two years later, once you had taken control of your father's private detective agency. Shion had relinquished full parental rights of Ren once you had closed yourself off to him, sinking back into the emotionless husk of a human your parents had raised. Though it was viewed as a terrible action by many, it was the only outcome you would have accepted. After all your parents had accepted Ren as their grandchild, and thankfully treated him with far more kindness than they had afforded you, and in their picture of your perfect life the owner of a fish store did not fit.
Once more life went on. It wasn't long until you had gotten a desperate phone call from an officer brave, or stupid, enough to investigate Bonten. You had been tasked with gathering information and relaying it back to him, it was all under the board as he had informed you if he was found out him and a dear friend would be in a sizeable amount of danger. A few months after begining your inquiries you had taken a day to spend with your son, taking him to his father's shop to purchase some supplies for the new tank you intended to put your beloved Kiko in as a present for her thirteenth year in your family. What you hadn't expected was for your child to be mouthing off to one of the many men you had been tailing. Haitani Ran, a wanted criminal, a very dangerous wanted criminal at that. Steadying your racing heart as emotions bubbled within your husk of a body you strolled over voicing how you hadn't lied to the boy about the fish and bidding the lanky man goodbye as you scooped up your son. Once outside of the store you made quick work of slipping down the alleyway and heading towards your home, intent on setting Ren down with his toys as you worked on Kiko's tank . . . and worked hard to forget the criminal who had stirred emotions up within your void of a mind. Little did you know Ran Haitani had no intention of letting the person he had unknowingly become enamoured with all those years ago slip from his grasp.

Top 5 Boba moments 🥺
ohh fun! :D i’m gonna go in chronological order for these, just for organization’s sake. i’m also going to try and only include moments i haven’t talked much about before, just to keep things fun and fresh!
1. freeing the sea mice: starting from the very first boba fett junior novel the fight to survive, bc, well, chronological order! i like this moment bc it really emphasizes how innocent boba used to be. basically, there’s an aquarium with an eel in the fett’s kamino apartment and while jango and zam are off making bad decisions on coruscant, boba is tasked with it feeding aquatic rodents called “sea-mice” to the eel, something he’s never had to do before. but he doesn’t like doing it. the sea-mice always seem to trust him when he picks them up and he feels guilty for betraying them by feeding them to the eel. so, one day, he decides it’s going to be different. that morning, he feeds the eel his own breakfast (which is like, both sweet and hilarious, like honey did you really just throw your lunchables into an eel’s tank bc you wanted to make sure it was fed even while you’re out here freeing feeder mice? A+ for good intentions, F- for knowledge of how animals work) and tries to free a few of the sea-mice into kamino’s oceans. unfortunately, they don’t survive. the next day, boba reluctantly goes back to feeding the mice to the eel, telling one before he drops it in, “sorry; life is hard on the small and the weak,” echoing a saying of his father’s. this then becomes horrible foreshadowing for the rest of the series, in which boba is orphaned and suddenly finds himself being preyed upon by all sorts of antagonists. i know it’s a kids’ series and it’s Not That Deep, but i do really like that there’s a parallel created between boba and the mouse and the implication of the series as a whole that boba fett didn’t become a notorious hunter because he was always that way, but specifically because he started out as prey. also, it’s kind of hilarious in retrospect that boba felt compassion for rodents, but literally days later attempted to take obi-wan’s life without hesitation. kid’s really got his priorities in order.
2. standing up to jabba the hutt: this is from the junior novel boba fett: hunted, which is my favorite of the junior novels for him. in the story, boba pretends a short-statured adult by concealing his face with his father’s helmet and attempts to find work from jabba the hutt. however, when he finally gets an audience with jabba, jabba indeed offers to bring him back to his palace—as an indentured servant. and this freaking, like, eleven-year-old, staring down the criminal kingpin of tatooine with no weapons and no armor besides a too-big helmet, snaps at jabba the hutt, “my debt to you? what do i owe you for?” naturally, he is immediately set upon by one of jabba’s guards, and, well, i’ll let you read the rest :D
Boba had no time to think. He acted.
Without a sound, he leaped to one side. The Drovian’s knife whistled harmlessly through the air where, a nanosecond before, Boba had been.
“Huh?” gaped the hulking alien.
A small table stood near the viewscreen. Boba grabbed the table and swung it in front of himself, fending off the Drovian’s blade. Jabba himself watched, laughing coarsely.
“You will pay for this!” croaked the Drovian.
As the guard bore down on him, Boba thrust the table upward. The knife stuck in the wood surface. While the Drovian struggled to free his weapon, Boba pushed the table up farther. Then, he darted sideways, kicking at the lumbering guard’s knees. With a groaning thud, the Drovian stumbled and fell. Jabba’s guests laughed as Boba turned to breathlessly face Jabba.
“I am no one’s slave or servant!” Boba said. “I will work for you, for a price—but I will name that price!”
like, this kid really just brought down an armed adult with nothing but an end table AND finishes it off with a badass line defending his autonomy and defying jabba the hutt! definitely one of my favorite moments from the junior novels.
3. the Look he exchanges with lando while han is being tortured in the background
Tumblr media
look, idk why this is so funny to me, but it is. lando’s just so full of loathing for this man who is complicit in forcing him to betray han and boba’s just like “you got shit to say to me. or nah?” he’s such a fucking asshole, i love it.
4. staying conscious just long enough to express his displeasure with the situation in iiiiii think the mandalorian armor, idk it’s been awhile: this story takes place post-RoTJ, after boba has escaped the sarlacc pit, killing it in the process, and is being gradually regaining his strength with the help of fellow bounty hunter dengar and amnesiac former slave neelah. at this point in the story, he’s still quite weak and spends most of his time slipping in and out of consciousness. unfortunately, some of boba’s enemies find out he’s still alive and just start fucking carpet-bombing their general location, so dengar and neelah go “shit, we need a bomb shelter, stat!”...and then slowly turn to look at the subterranean corpse of the sarlacc pit. they thus drag boba’s unconscious body back into the pit so they can all hunker down and wait out the bombs. except, surprise, surprise! the sarlacc ain’t completely dead. one of its giant tentacles starts attacking the group and is succeeding in getting the upper hand over dengar and neelah, when suddenly, boba wakes up. takes a look around and realizes where he is. and then grabs the nearest blaster and just goes apeshit firing on the tentacle, finally managing to kill it. too exhausted to talk, he then turns and fixes dengar with the angriest, most hate-filled glare the man has ever seen... and then promptly passes out. i remember just dissolving into giggles the first time i read that scene. just the mental image of boba fett giving dengar the scariest fucking “why the fuck did you fucking bring me back here” deathglare in the galaxy and then immediately losing consciousness. energy well-spent, boba.
5. that time boba did a mission completely in his underwear for no discernible reason, because daniel keys moran: this one’s just like. so delightfully bizarre that i’m not even going to try justifying it logically bc literally the only reason it exists was bc renowned EU author and certified mad man daniel keys moran really wanted to give boba his strong female character moment, because he deserves it. so, in this subplot, boba is tracking this devaronian war criminal who is holed up in a safehouse equipped with security systems that are triggered by the presence of, like, metal. which means boba can’t wear his armor plates and can’t use any blasters or other gadgetry. so boba loads up a compound bow and knife and makes to hunt this guy down. now, what about his armor? obviously, the most logical thing to do would be to just remove the metal plates and hunt in his flight suit. or, if that isn’t satisfactory, go out and buy like, leather armor or something? or just clothes? BUT NOPE. boba apparently goes, “well, if i can’t wear my armor, i’m not gonna wear ANYTHING” and just. does the entire mission in his underwear. he tracks and stalks this man, shoots him with an arrow, and then chases him down with a knife, ALL IN HIS UNDERWEAR. daniel keys moran even goes so far as to explicitly specify that these ain’t no long-johns, either. he’s like, “and the underwear...... MAINLY COVERED HIS DICK.” LIKE, DANIEL? DANIEL? HOW IS IT THAT OUT OF THE TWO BOBA FETT STORIES YOU’VE WRITTEN, BOTH OF THEM MENTION HIS DICK IN SOME CAPACITY? DANIEL? WHO KEEPS LETTING YOU GET AWAY WITH THIS??? and, like, can you imagine being this poor devaronian? you’re just living your fugitive war criminal life when an arrow hits you in the shoulder and boba fucking fett comes sprinting out of the woods at you in his underwear with a knife? what the fuck. this was canon at one point. what the fuck.

Hello, I am back with some more Soni and Lucille interacting headcannons (feat. Happiny and Luce’s Pokemons)
Luce has a Gogoat and a Florges and they join Soni’s Dairy Team and Berry Team. She did wish that her sister’s Leavanny is here as well as it would make spinning threads a lot faster.
Luce crying a second time after arriving in Twisted Wonderland after Soni translated how much Lucille’s Pokemons love her.
The girls take shifts in their jobs so the other could get sufficient sleep.
Happiny being gentle with Lucille’s Pokemon egg, waiting for the little one to hatch so she could have a little sibling to play with along with with her Big Sis Chansey and her Big Bro Pichu .
Happiny calling Lucille Auntie Lucy shall live in my head rent free.
Lucille can’t really sing, but she can play a soft tune on the piano and put Happiny and her Pichu to sleep when it’s bed time.
You remember that Pokemon episode about a special delivery Houndoom and Togepi, yeah that’s Onion the Houndoom with Happiny (and Pichu and the Pokemon the Egg will hatch into)
Happiny about to get into danger ? Don’t worry, Luce’s Pokemons are there to the rescue !
Floyd picking up Happiny and about to go somewhere ? Aerosmith the Talonflame dive bombed him and getting the eel burned in the process.
Happiny somehow on too of a tree ? Sonic the Noivern is up there within seconds and give her a ride. He will then uses his ultrasonic waves to look for the freshest and ripest fruits to share with Happiny
Going for a swim in Octavinelle ? Anjawlica the Feraligatr is there as a floatie and to supervise, ready to perform the Feraligatr Death Roll on anyone that tries any funny business.
Some students about to pick on Happiny bc she is small and “weak” ? Suddenly they fell into a large pit that was dug by Jawsephine the Gabite/Garchomp.
Crowley about to approach Happiny ? Not to worry, Onion the Houndoom is chasing him up onto a tree within seconds.
Soni might have met one of Lucille’s older sisters before as the younger one is currently training to take over Malva who will retire soon due to her old ties with Team Flare.
While Casual Geographic Soni’s narrating style is like the guy who runs the channel (i don’t his name unfortunately), Casual Geographic Lucille is like a mix between David Attenborough and a cautious Steve Irwin.
I also headcanon that if the girls have Sygna suits, Soni’s would based on Dior while Lucille’s would be based on Onion. (Seriously, i love the Sygna suits from Pokemon Master and whoever designed them needs a raise)
Aw 🥺 those are so cute! This is kind of a what-if situation, so this is just for fun, just in case anyone's thinking this is canon to the fic just as an fyi
Soni might not tell Lucille about her ability to talk directly from Pokemon speech. It'd be something where Dior would communicate the feelings through psychic power than flat-out saying something due to Soni's fear of someone finding out about her Blessed status.
Soni getting sleep? With the Braincell Trio? She might be dreaming- jk, I can see her being like "Can you deal with them for like five minutes? They can't be left alone. Otherwise, Aegis might chase them up a tree again."
HAPPINY THO
Happiny being a big sibling to the Pokemon Egg and protecting it my heart 💕💕💕 THE HAPPINY PROTECTION SQUAD she deserves it because the little bab is too nice
Her being so loved is always a blessing aaaaa
That Pokemon Episode with Togepi and Houndoom was one of my favorites. It was so cute, so imagining that with Happiny 🥺🥺🥺 that's maximum cuteness
Oooh, if Soni did see/meet Lucille's siblings, that would definitely be interesting. Mostly because Soni's reputation in Kalos varies wildly, depending on the person that someone talks to, so idk how Lucille's sister would react to Soni because of that.
Although, if she's taking over Malva's spot, Soni would be simultaneously relaxed and tense due to outside interference, nobles who have connections through Malva, and previous sponsorship clauses. That's if we're dealing with my world's Malva, but idk in this headcanon.
I was contemplating the idea that Lucille was like a cautious Steve Irwin, based on what I knew about her. It's like Soni's the one to inform, but Lucille's more showing the danger up-front.
Oooh 👀 Sygma Suits look really cool. That's actually funny because Soni's Ceremonial Cloak is somewhat based on a Gardevoir, so for her Sigma Suit to look based on one sounds fitting. One day I will draw Soni's Ceremonial Cloak, but that's in the future!

Anyone interested in a WIP Pitch Pearl series rewrite?
A click resounded off the walls of the dark tunnel. Danny's heart--already racing--shot an extra burst of adrenaline through his system. He spun on his heel and booked it toward the exit. A high-pitched hum began, and his eyes widened. He had reacted so fast because he thought his parents' ghost portal had a ghost haunting it already, but the reality of what was happening set in as the electronic hum grew louder.
The portal was turning on--with him inside.
"Danny?" Sam called, her usual drawl replaced by fear.
Tucker, more tech-savy, skipped fear and latched onto desperation, screaming, "Get out of there!"
The warning would have come too late if Danny hadn't already been on the move.
Green light began to fill the tunnel, but Danny didn't linger to see beyond that initial flare. He leapt forward and landed painfully on his chest outside the tunnel, sliding a few inches across the metal floor.. Something burst from the tunnel, surging above him, pulling at his hair, screeching in his ears. Tucker and Sam screamed his name. Danny pressed himself flat on the floor and didn't dare to so much as breathe. He could feel the burn of electricity singing the side of his face, the only part of his body not protected by the jumpsuit.
It lasted only a few seconds, but even after the energy dissipated from the air and the tunnel's humming was replaced by an odd-sounding song, Danny didn't move--couldn't move. He was paralyzed. Tucker and Sam landed on their knees on either side of him and had to bodily lift him up. Still limp, however, his muscles refusing to respond in any way, he couldn't sit up on his own. He slumped against Sam, but she didn't seem to mind. She wrapped her arms tightly around him. Tucker did the same on Danny's other side, pressing his face into Danny's neck.
Finally, Danny's lungs started working again. He gasped in a breath. And then another. Another. Another.
"Holy shit!" Tears leaked from the corners of his eyes. "I--I--"
"You're okay," Sam said, more to herself than to Danny. "You're okay..."
"I almost died!"
Tucker squeezed Danny tighter. "Don't," he said, his voice thick, strangled, "don't you ever scare me like that again."
"Scare you?" Danny laughed. He lifted his hand. It was trembling so violently he couldn't hold it level. "Holy shit..."
Frightened as he was, Danny was sure he could have remained in his friends' arms, safe and loved for at least an hour, but the odd song behind them altered pitch, and a voice called out, "Um, excuse me, but what the fuck?"
The group hug became rigid.
"Danny," Tucker whispered, "did you say something?"
"My voice doesn't sound like that, Tuck," Danny hissed back.
"I mean, it sort of does. And if you didn't say anything..."
Slowly, Sam and Tucker turned their heads to the side. Danny, his back to the portal, held absolutely still. Whatever his friends saw, they didn't exactly hug him tighter, but Tucker leaned closer and Sam whispered a prayer.
Danny swallowed. "What is it?"
"Uh," Tucker said, "the, uh, the good news is the portal is working!"
Danny sucked in a breath. He wouldn't call that good news. Having a portal that led to the ghost dimension inside his house wasn't something he had been looking forward to, but if that was the good news... "What's the bad news?"
"There's a boy in the portal," Sam answered before Tucker could. "He's just kind of floating there. Inside the portal. But I think he's stuck." She waited a moment, watching the portal--watching the boy--and then her arms relaxed around Danny. "Yeah, I think we're safe. I don't think he can get through."
That was a relief, if true, but Danny needed to see it for himself. He shifted on his knees. Sam and Tucker pulled away, but Danny's legs were still shaky, not quite steady enough to stand on his own. "Um...guys, could you...?"
Danny's friends stood and then reached down, grabbed his hands, and helped Danny climb to his feet, neither one taking their eyes off the portal.
"He kind of looks like you," Tucker whispered.
"Would you stop?" Danny whispered back. "That's gotta be, like, bad luck or something, saying someone looks like a ghost."
"I didn't say you look like a ghost, I said he looks like you."
"Same difference!"
"Guys," Sam hissed.
Slowly, reluctantly, his heart beating wildly, Danny turned around. The boy inside the portal stared back at him, his head tilted slightly to the side. The portal itself appeared as a swirling green vortex, and in between that vortex and Danny floated the boy. He had raised his hands and seemed to be placing them against...some sort of surface on Danny's side of the portal.
If not for the green vortex, his unnaturally white hair, the acidic green of his eyes, or the fact he had no legs, he could almost pass as a human. Danny had always imagined a ghost would look more...monstrous. Like the turkey and ecto-weenies his parents sometimes brought to life.
This boy had normal-looking human eyes, not the solid green pits Danny had seen before. He wasn't baring sharp teeth at them and he wasn't...doing anything threatening, really. He wore a black t-shirt that sort of floated around his chest, and his hair--cut in the same style as Danny's but a pure bright white--swayed slightly as the boy ghost bobbed up and down.
"See?" Tucker whispered. "He totally looks like you."
"In the face, maybe," Sam whispered back. "But I think his shoulders are broader than Danny's. And maybe his arms...."
"Gee, thanks," Danny whispered sarcastically. "Why not point out I actually have legs while you're at it?"
The ghost boy raised an eyebrow, and a horrible suspicion occurred to Danny. There was a tiny popping sound and then the ghost's tail--previously undulating like an eel--split into a pair of legs clothed in a pair of ragged jeans. Despite his new feet, the ghost continued to float above the ground--if he even had ground on his side of the portal.
"I have legs," the ghost said, speaking at a normal volume, confirming Danny's fear, "when I want them, anyway."
His voice had a strange overlay to it, as though it was both hollow and resounding. It raised the hairs on Danny's arms and neck. He backed up a step.
"Who are you?" the ghost continued. "What are you?" He tilted his head farther to the side and narrowed his eyes. "And what did you do to my lair?"
"Oh shit," Tucker whispered, more quietly than before.
Sam stepped forward. "We could ask you the same thing. Who and what are you?"
The ghost's eyes finally moved away from Danny, sliding over to Sam instead. "Phantom. I'm a ghost who just had his home destroyed by an artificial portal. I'm guessing that was your--" his gaze scanned the three of them "--fault. Natural portals don't get ripped open, and they definitely don't open inside a ghost's lair. So what is it you're after? Who and what are you?"
"Dude, we're just human kids," Tucker said, holding up his hands. "It wasn't even supposed to turn on!"
"My parents built it," Danny said, taking another step back. "But it didn't work. It wasn't supposed to work! They gave up on it!"
"Yeah!" Tucker nodded vigorously. "Yeah! We just dared Danny to go in there because he was being a complete chicken about it--"
"I was not!"
"You were!"
"How did it turn on, anyway?" Sam asked.
"Danny must have pressed an on-switch inside the tunnel," Tucker said. "Since we didn't unplug anything it turned on while he was inside. That's not supposed to happen. You're supposed to turn it on and then plug it in. Your dad must have forgotten to press the on-switch before they plugged it in or something."
"Sounds like Dad..." Danny muttered.
"So..." the ghost, Phantom, said slowly, "it was an accident?"
"Yeah!"
"Total accident."
"Basically."
Slowly, the ghost's rigid posture eased, settling into a more relaxed pose. "Oh," he said softly, warily. "That's...good. It doesn't help me get my lair back--or get out of here--but that's...good."
"You could go back to your world," Danny muttered.
Sam elbowed him in the side and he grunted.
"I can't, actually," Phantom said. "There is a barrier on that side as well. I'm stuck inside...whatever this is."
Sam sucked in a breath. "You’re stuck?"
"Oh no," Danny groaned.
"Like in a cage?"
Tucker sighed and rolled his eyes. "Here we go..."
Sam rounded on her friends. "We have to get him out!"
Danny held up his hands, shaking his head. "Nuh-uh, no way, Sam. We can't just, like, open the door to the ghost world. What if he's dangerous?"
Tucker looked at the ghost trapped inside the portal. "Are you dangerous?"
Phantom cocked his head to the side. "No?"
"Ha!" Sam cheered.
"That doesn't prove anything!" Danny objected. "He could be lying!"
Tucker, smirking, asked the ghost, "Are you lyi--"
"Tucker!"
"Well, we can't just leave him trapped in there forever." Sam walked toward the portal, ignoring Danny hissing her name. "How would you like to be trapped in a vortex for the rest of your life?"
"It's more like a tunnel than a vortex," Phantom admitted.
"A cage is a cage!" Sam placed her hands over Phantom's, the barrier acting like a glass panel between them. "And we're getting you out of this one."
---
An au in which Danny has ghost phobia, Phantom doesn’t know anything about the human world, and Sam and Tucker are determined to befriend a ghost come hell or high water lol. Some of the Danny/Sam scenes will be replaced with Phantom/Danny (because that was what started this) but because Danny has an extreme fear of ghosts, brought on by his parents experiments and stories, it’s going to very slow burn. By comparison.
To keep from rewriting, like, everything, I’m thinking I’ll try condensing the scenes that don’t change (the food fight in Mystery Meat for instance) as either a diary entry or as a rushed description of events? Whichever way feels more natural...I want to get at least one full scene written for each episode.
This may be too ambitious but idk, I would love to hear your guys’ thoughts!

The Name of the Rose
Summary: Your study-buddy Doh Kyungsoo comes with you for a long-awaited trip to Tokyo, Japan. There is a tension between you, however both of you decided to build a friendship instead of a relationship.
Content: Unestablished relationship, AU, Hurt/Comfort, Anger, Slight Violence, Emotional Complications and Healing.
Warnings: Well, the story contains NSFW/Smut, please minors do not continue.
Note: This story was inspired by D.O.’s album, Empathy, the album of 2021 in my opinion. It is an ongoing mini project, I planned to write it as a one-shot when I started, however I realized there are a lot to say about Empathy Era and I cannot stop shut my mouth, or prevent myself from writing… So, here we go.
Second chapter, the Hunter and the Goddess is out :)
Word Count: 3.6k
Chapter 1: The Hunter and the Gazelle
Stat rosa pristina nomine, nomina nuda tenemus.
You were excited.
No, it was not the correct word to be used. You were hyperactive, more than your usual self, and God knows that everyone could testify on how hectic your personality was. According to your family and very close friends, you were a walking catastrophe, funny but a fucking tease and potentially dangerous for environment.
And now, as you had been waiting for your flight, you could not manage to even stay still. Your hands were everywhere, you proved yourself again by dismantling your tote bag as poor thing was on your lap and you were playing with it unconsciously.
“Enough.” you heard your companion’s baritone voice tone. “If you will continue like this, you have to buy your belongings again in Japan. Do you have that much money?”
He reached to you and took the bag from your lap. For a second, his fingers brushed your thighs, and you lost your concentration during that fucking second.
Focus! you told yourself.
“I can always lend some money from you.” you cocked one of your eyebrows. “What? Will you bare me from some bucks?”
“Yes.” he was always plain and simple. On the contrary of you. “Unless if it is not a necessary. I am not a guy of sharing.”
What type of guy you are, can you give me a demonstration?
Your trip to Japan made you very excited, but you had to confess at least to yourself in the depts of your mind. What made you frenzied was the presence of your companion.
Doh Kyungsoo.
Your long-term study-buddy. Actually, he was more than a study-buddy, he was a kind of your comfort zone, even though you never express your opinions about him. You have known each other for almost 7 years since the last year of bachelor. Both of you continued your ways in academic world and you were currently being Ph.D. candidates.
To be honest, he never lose his impacts on you. You had a sweet spot for him since almost the beginning of your friendship which made him more than a study-buddy. It did not mean that you were restraining yourself from having dates time to time, but all of them were ended up with the same result.
They were clever and handsome guys, but they were not Doh Kyungsoo.
Sometimes you could not help but wonder, how it would be if you did not meet him as a friend? Could you two manage having a relationship as your best friend, Baekhyun, supported like a bloody zealot? Or one of you would give up as your brother, Jongdae, always believed?
“Hey!” you heard Kyungsoo’s voice and jumped off from the bench. “Come back to your senses or we are going to miss the plane.”
“And you are going to take its money from me.” your murmured inside of your mouth but obliged to what he said by starting to walk. He was generally quiet during flights, but you knew his mouth will not be shut when you will visit the restaurants he wanted to try.
He does not come for Tokyo, he comes for fucking eels, octopuses, or crabs. Kyungsoo and his appetite.
“Naturally.” he approved your words on money, but there was a ghost of smile on his lips. “Since you are the one who became a sleeping beauty.”
Do you think I am beautiful?
This was another problem you had. With Kyungsoo, you were so relaxed, and you felt extremely safe, so you did not need to control yourself as you generally did. Of course, it was a good omen for your friendship, as much as you were sure Kyungsoo never lied to you, it was also a disadvantage on your part, because sometimes you wanted to ask some questions that should be remained in silence.
“If we would be fairy tales,” you smirked. “I would be Belle while you are the Beast.”
“Fine by me.” he shrugged his shoulder. “He is a very good guy. I am happy for Belle; she understands the assignment. You would not most probably.”
“Sweetheart, you are slow to catch the signs.” you playfully smacked his shoulder when you reached to the control point. You thought he would be annoyed, but he stopped and seriously gazed at you. You shivered and wondered why he was looking at you like he wanted to say something.
“What?” you inhaled.
“Since when I am slow to catch the signs?” he pressed on every word of his sentence, and to your dismay he used that voice tone, almost a whisper but goddamn strong. “Give me an example.”
You shuttered down, and this was the last problem you had with Kyungsoo, he was the only one who could make your brain stop working especially in times when the occasion calls for full-speed devilish progress. You just stared at him and shrugged your shoulder.
“Eh Soo,” you murmured. “You missed a lot of beautiful girls, right?”
Your response was so weak even to your ears. If Chanyeol, number two best friend of you, could hear your words, he would burst into laughs by hitting everyone beside him. You could imagine Junmyeon’s disgusted face as a plus.
“I did not miss anyone, my dear.” he chuckled. “Let me rephrase, anyone I want just one exception, but exceptions do not ruin the calculation in your famous mindset.”
When he chuckles, you can feel your blood tension rocks your body. His heart shaped lips does something to you, and you do not want to name it.
“Exceptions run the world, Doh.” you tried to push him to elaborate his words a little bit more. “Who is that lucky girl who run away from you?”
“That’s my secret.” he smirked and put his hand onto your waist in order to led you the controller lady. “Show your passport, I do not want to wait here forever.”
Who was the girl he mentioned? You could not help but started to feel anxious, how much you tried to press your instincts and feelings, whenever he mentioned a girl, there would be a dire need of crying in the pit of your stomach. You took a deep breathe and followed his instruction. While you were walking into the inside of plane, you struggled with the sudden sadness. You wanted to tear that off yourself, so you reminded yourself the splendid trip ahead you. You found your place and processed to sit down.
“May I help?” Kyungsoo asked you but he already fetched your belongings and placed them correctly. You smiled to him and sat down.
How could you meet someone like him? He was a little bit grumpy sometimes, a person who could give unexpected reactions, but he was reliable, kind, lovely and always thoughtful of his environment. You did not want to lose him. You never want to lose him, on the contrary, you want to keep him in your life until the very end. You could not think a life without Kyungsoo, you always desire him to stay your side.
You were pretty sad, you had to admit, and there was regret. You were regretful on your decision to not go further with him, you wished you could be braver and tell him about your feelings for him. How much you were confused because of him, how many days and nights you spent sleepless because of him. To make the things more complicated, you had zero idea about how he would be responded your confession if you pull yourself together and manage to do. For once, you heard his cousin Minseok talked about you by saying you were very important for Kyungsoo, however you did not know in which extent you were important for him.
You two were always closed to each other, you spent almost 3 or 4 days together, you were living in the same campus, your departments were close to each other. He was a huge part of your life, that’s one of the reasons why you were hopelessly trying to conceal your inappropriate feelings for Kyungsoo. The idea of losing his extremely valuable presence was the only scenario could make you sob.
“Am I the only one who is very uncomfortable?” he whispered to your ear and made your stomach twisted. You could kill him for this, but he was not aware of how he affected you. “You are deadly silent.”
“No, I am just thinking.” you run away from him like an Olympic athlete. “About the trip. I am very excited.”
“If you are,” he flinched your forehead. “You have to talk non-stop. You are silent when something bothers you, what are you hiding from me?”
“Nothing, Soo.” you found a smile from somewhere and presented to him. “You know I never find the chance of visiting Japan; I am really overwhelmed.”
“So, speak to me.” he grunted. “Do not act like I am not here.”
“Okey, okey.” you raised your hands to air. “Sorry for that.”
“I start to feel like I am disturbing you.” he turned his head to the Name of the Rosethat he was reading. Umberto Eco, he had a taste for everything of course. “I asked you twice if you are okey with going to Japan with me.”
You could laugh if you were not so tense since he mentioned girls.
“And I told you this is okey, Soo.” you pinched his upper arm. “You are a good companion for trips.”
“Only for trips?” he asked. What the fuck was wrong with Kyungsoo today? He was behaving weird, and his questions made you more baffled. “I thought I am good companion for everything.”
You bit your lips in order to send back the sudden answer you wanted to give. Instead of declaring your ignorance about his performance on everything, you refined your words.
“You are a good friend, Soo and sorry for making you feel unwanted. I am happy you are coming with me.”
“Hm.” he hummed but he did not look like he was satisfied with your answer. You decided to not think about what the heck he wanted to hear, you also turned to your book that you were supposed to read since the departure. At least Pavese helped you to collect your mind till the plane landed in Narita Airport. He helped you while you two took a cab for the way, he was acting like his usual self, so you accused yourself because of searching hidden messages in his questions. You were such an idiot.
“I will be seeing you at dinner.” he waved his hand when you finished the registration process of the hotel you would be staying for the week. You were in front of the elevator. Both of you already decided to take a nap before dinner when you were planning the trip, so you approved his words and took your keys.
“See you.” you smiled and walked to your room. When you opened the door, your smile widened, the room is so light and minimalistic as you really liked. There was no crowded furniture, crazy designs, or unnecessary modifications. The walls were light blue, the furniture was white, and all looked very harmonious. There were plants and flowers, you immediately run to the flowers as you loved them more than anything else. The hotel staff managed to place even Sakura blossoms into the room that made your heart flattered and smoothed your nerves.
And there was only one blue rose, which was your favourite flower in the world. Just one, between a bouquet of daisies and it looked magnificent. You leaned to smell it while smiling as a little freak. You did not have to see your face; you knew how you looked like. Chanyeol always said that when you see a blue rose, you lost your shit. Another creature made you drunk in happiness was white butterflies. You had a sweet spot for blue roses and white butterflies.
And for Kyungsoo.
You grunted to yourself in your mind, and you headed to the bathroom by tapping your feet to the ground harshly. You were done with your obsession with Kyungsoo, it became something out of control, and you were tired of yourself at this point.
You had to live your goddamn life, you had to stop fucking fantasizing about your study-buddy.
You stripped out from your clothes and jumped into the shower. Cold water helped you to take the control of yourself, both as physical and emotional. You were okey, you were in bloody Japan as you always wanted, and you were going to fucking enjoy it. After shower, you threw yourself into the bed, tucked yourself inside the blanket and set the alarm for one hour later.
After one hour, you were swearing at yourself with your very glorious vocabulary because the only thing you did was fantasizing about Doh Kyungsoo.
“Did you rest?” he asked to you while you were leaving the hotel. You held your growl inside. “Did you take a nap?”
“I did not sleep but I leaned down for a while, so it was good. You?”
“I slept like a baby. It was very interesting when you think I am more like an insomniac.”
“I guess, your insomnia is rubbing on me.” you grumbled. “Where are we going now?”
“Eh, at least something about me can rub on you.” he rolled his eyes, your chin was dropped due to his response. “There is a tiny noodle restaurant in Ebisu, but they are very famous. We are going to there.”
“Okey.” you nod and walked beside of him.
“You look very pretty.” he turned to you. “That dress looked very good on you.”
You instantly took a look on your navy, long dress. It was very comfortable, but also elegant and your fashion freak cousin persuaded you the colour and style gave you a
“Thank you.” you replied. “Sehun chose this for me, you know he is the chef kiss when it comes to fashion.”
“He did well.” he smiled. “How is Sehun by the way, I did not see him since ages. Did he come back from France?”
“No.” you pouted. You really missed your noisy cousin. “He just came to visit for a week, then came back to school. I am not sure if he will come back to be honest, he got some important invitations from European universities.”
“Very good.” Kyungsoo’s face was lit up. He was proud of Sehun. “I know you miss him, but he has a bright career ahead of him.”
“Yes, I know.” you also smiled. Thinking about your successful but extremely playful cousin made you happy. “I just worry about him.”
“Stop babying him.” Kyungsoo punched your arm as half serious half joke. “How old is he, 27?”
“Yeah.” you laughed. “I know I baby him very much, but we all do, Kyungsoo.”
“You are just one year older than Sehun.” he smirked. “Who is going to baby you?”
“Chanyeol.” you exhaled. Kyungsoo looked at you for a second, then both of you burst into laughs because it was well known that you also took care of Chanyeol and Baekhyun as well as Sehun. “Jokes aside, I am a strong and big girl, Kyungsoo, I do not need someone babying me.”
“Maybe you can start looking for a sugar daddy to baby you?” he cocked his eyebrows to you. “Before it is going to be too late?”
“Actually, I had some candidates in my pocket.” you devilishly beamed to him. “You have no idea.”
“Beg your pardon?” his face suddenly transformed from joy to deadpanned seriousness, and his smile was disappeared immediately. “I was joking.”
“I was not.” you blinked your eye. “Some people really proposed to me.”
“For being your sugar daddy?”
“I know I am very little in your eyes, Kyungsoo” you took a deep breathe before continuing. “But here the breaking news: some people could find me attractive.”
“We are not talk about usual dates or men.” he held your arm and turned you to himself. “If you receive this kind of proposes, you have to tell me.”
“Next time, I will report you so we can decide who is going to be my sugar daddy.” you poked his ribs while he burrowed his eyebrows and radiated a strong sense of discontent. “Come on Kyungsoo, I am not going to say yes to this type of proposes, what do you think about me?”
“We are always joking about this issue,” he looked like he was cursing beneath his breath. “But when it comes to you and Baekhyun, I always suspect if you are serious or not.”
“Sugar daddy is a joke.” you hissed. “Of course, it is a joke, I have no interest in having a sugar daddy.”
“What about the proposes? Are they real?”
“Well, they are.” you murmured. Suddenly, you felt like the table was turned and you just played your ace card too early. You felt like Kyungsoo’s eyes investigated your soul to the bits.
“How many?”
“Three.” you gave up. “One from faculty, two from outside.”
“Unethical son of bitches.” he lowly cursed and caught you off guard because he generally preferred to use more polite words, even if he was cursing. “Keep them away from yourself.”
“Oh really?” you teased him by hoping to break the strange tension between you and managed to put a little smile on his face.
“Stop mocking me.” he warned you but now he was smiling widely. His mouth became a heart again, this time you averted your eyes from his face.
“Who I am to dare mocking you?” you squeaked but it was fake.
“Oh, you mock me more than even that walking noisy machine Baekhyun.” he flicked his hand. “We have to stop at this station, Ebisu Garden Place is on the way.”
He put his hand onto your waist again, and you felt like electrocuted again. Every time he touched you, and unfortunately, he sporadically did, you felt like you are dying for more. More what? You were not sure what you really wanted from Kyungsoo, but you were certain on you were desperate for more of him.
More of him.
The bus was crowded, Kyungsoo led you to a little corner, and stayed in front of you. He could be a little bit protective when it came to crowded places since you were clumsy, he generally insisted to keep you close to himself in order to catch you, if you would lose your balance, so you did not surprise when he held your wrist.
What made your heart to do a perfect all kill type of somersault was his next move, his fingers did not stop on your wrist, on the contrary they moved into your palm and grasped your hand tightly. You raised your eyes to him, he never hold your hand, never ever.
“I want to be sure.” he whispered by catching your question before you ask. “Since both of us do not know the way, and the bus is full of passengers, this is more secure.”
“Ah.” This was the best of you at the moment. You quickly realized what the heck you said but Kyungsoo sometimes can be quicker than you.
“Why? Are you unsatisfied with the reason?” His dark brown eyes were shining, his perfume smelled fucking good and the proximity between your faces did not help you.
“Why should I be?” you had to be back to play as soon as possible. “I grant you the chance of holding my hand, that’s count as charity.”
He looked at your hand for a moment, and you saw a smile formed on his lips and instead of a sarcastic reply as you expected, his eyes shaped like a crescent and shined as the fucking moon itself during a cloudless, navy night.
“Thank you, your highness.” he genuinely smiled. “May I continue to hold your hand?”
“Why?” the tone of your question was full of surprise, sounded exceptionally strange.
“Because I want to feel you.” he simply answered, and he squeezed your hand a little bit more. “For once let me feel you by my side.”
You knew that your eyes blown up, your mind was playing some tricky and dangerous games with you, you lost your shit, and you were sure about you finally made yourself mad because of your platonic interest in Kyungsoo, but even if God himself would appear in the bus in order to stop you, that would be a fruitless attempt.
You held Kyungsoo’s hand.
If he wanted to feel you by his side, you could not refuse.
You never refuse Kyungsoo.
How could you?
He was the protagonist of your secret dreams, fantasies and your goddam powerful imagination.
He was your gazelle and you were chasing him since the first day you met.

Look at this cutie I may be getting!!!
I’ve lowkey wanted a gcc for several weeks eels now…while I love Finn and Poe dearly, I would really love a cuddly feathered companion. This little dude is up for adoption in the new city where I’m moving because his owner is having to move cross country and will be traveling a lot and doesn’t feel like he will have the time for him anymore - I commented that I was interested and that I have 2 birds already and he said he thought it would be good for this little guy to have some friends to chat with!
Soooo since I already have to drive up tomorrow to get apartment keys, I’m gonna make a pit stop and meet this little friend and see if we are a match!

A/N: @vintage-squid, surprise! I’m your secret santa! I’m so glad you enjoyed the story, I had a blast writing it! Thank you to @theinvisiblespoon for beta reading this fic, you’re the absolute best! I have at least two more fics for this AU planned, a prequel that tells the story of Roman and Remus coming to be crew members aboard the Sea Serpent (cuz boy howdy is that a tale), and a sequel that pits our now established LAMP boys against an external threat. Both elements were ideas that I had for this story/universe that just didn’t make it into the final version due to time/length, so let me know if you’d like to be tagged in those future stories, or if you’d like to be on my general writing taglist. As always, comments/reblogs are greatly appreciated. Love you guys! -Taylor <3

“All hands on deck!”
Roman grinned and scampered down from his perch in the crow’s nest, his boots hitting the deck with a satisfying *thud.* The sky above him was clear and bright, and a cool ocean breeze rustled through his hair, granting him a reprieve from the heat of the sun. The gentle sway of the ship, once so strange and foreign to him, was now a familiar, soothing motion, and Roman’s chest swelled with confidence. He pulled his rapier from his belt and swiped it through the air with a flourish, winking at the ship’s navigator who was standing nearby.
“Just once, I’d like to see you answer Patton’s call without all your typical fanfare,” the man said, raising an eyebrow at Roman.
“What? My brother, pass up a chance to be dramatic?” a cheerful squawk called out, and then Remus was beside them, throwing one arm around Roman and jostling him playfully. “That’ll be the day.”
“Indeed, the one that we all long for,” the navigator agreed, and Roman pouted before letting his features slide into a smirk.
“Oh, come on Logan, you know you love me,” Roman crooned, and his smile widened as Logan’s cheeks became dusted with pink.
“Unfortunately, yes,” he said as Roman wriggled out from Remus’s grip to peck him on the lips. “However did I let that happen?”
“Okay you two, cut it out!” Patton chided as he walked over. “You’re both too adorable and it’s not fair, ‘cause I very much want to kiss you both, but we don’t have time right now!”
“Later, my love,” Roman promised, blowing the ship’s quartermaster a kiss of his own. Patton pretended to catch it out of the air and held it close to his heart, winking before he turned and addressed the larger crowd of sailors that had gathered on deck.
“We’ve adjusted course to intercept a ship, prepare for boarding!” Patton called. “And standby for the captain’s orders!”
As if on cue, the captain stepped out onto the deck, surveying his crew at work for a moment before turning to Patton.
“What’s the target?”
“It looks like a whaling ship,” Patton said with a grimace, and the captain snarled.
“Right. The captain should be worth a half decent ransom then, plus there should be plenty of valuable cargo on board. We’ll disable the ship when we’re finished then leave the rest of the crew to their own devices, if they aren’t idiots they should be able to survive long enough to make whaling seem like a very unattractive occupation to their buddies back home.”
Patton nodded, then turned back to the crew.
“Ready about!” he called to them, then nodded to Roman. “Ro, take point on the first raiding crew.”
“Oooh, Dee, your mask!” Remus suddenly cried, before dashing into the captain’s quarters without another word. He emerged a moment later, handing over the mask before planting a kiss on the captain’s cheek.
“Oh, so you have time for kisses, but I don’t,” Roman teased, and Remus stuck his tongue out at him.
“Captain’s privileges,” Dee said with a smirk before sliding the mask down over the left side of his face, carved features and painted green scales covering the burn that marred his skin.
“Ro, come on!” Patton called again, and Roman turned his attention to the whaler that was still approaching them, not yet realizing that the innocuous looking Sea Serpent was actually a pirate vessel.
“Heave to!” Patton shouted, and Logan pulled on the ship’s wheel until the Sea Serpent was directly in the path of the approaching whaler.
“Ready canons!” Dee called, and Patton relayed the order to the gunmen below deck. “On my command! Ready?”
Roman gripped his sword hilt, a smile growing on his face despite himself. Right here, standing on the deck of his ship with a sword in his hand and his two loves by his side, was exactly where Roman wanted to be.
“Fire!”
--- --- ---
It didn’t take long for the crew of the whaler, called The Carlotta, to surrender, and before long, Patton was leading a small party through the ship to look for anything worth looting. As soon as he stepped below decks, however, he had to stop. He waved the other crew members on ahead of him and leaned against a nearby support beam, taking in several deep gulps of air through his mouth. Unfortunately, that didn’t do much to alleviate the stench.
The cargo hold was full of dozens upon dozens of barrels, and a foul, fishy scent clung to the air around them like mold. The smell was bad enough, but that combined with the thought of what was actually in the barrels was enough to make Patton gag on the spot. He, like Dee, was not fond of the practice of whaling, but while Dee would still bring the whale blubber onboard the Sea Serpent so they could sell it themselves and turn a profit, Patton would just as soon dump the whole batch back into the ocean so he didn’t have to think about it for too long. He was just grateful that they hadn’t come upon The Carlotta when she’d taken a fresh kill; money or no, message or no, Patton was not about to deal with looting a ship floating beside a dead whale carcass.
“Quartermaster!”
Patton looked up to see one of the younger crew members coming towards him, their eyes as round as saucers.
“What is it, kiddo? And I’ve told you, just Patton is fine.”
“Right, yessir–I mean, Patton. But, um, you need you see this!”
“What is it?” Patton asked again, following the young sailor deeper into the hold.
“I...I don’t know, sir, you’re just...going to have to see for yourself.”
Thoroughly intrigued now, Patton let himself be led into the back corner of the cargo hold where he was met with a peculiar sight. What appeared to be a large iron kettle, which Patton recognized as part of the tryworks that whalers would use to boil the whale blubber down into oil, was sitting in the middle of the open space. The kettle itself wasn’t what struck Patton as odd though, it was its placement below decks. The ship had clearly recently brought in a new whale, and Patton remembered seeing the other kettle in its proper place on top of the furnace up on deck. What on earth was this doing down here?
The other thing that was confusing was the large slat of crisscrossed iron bars that had been laid haphazardly over the top of the kettle. If Patton had to guess, he’d say that the whalers had taken the door off the ship brig and used it as a sort of cap, and for extra measure, a few canon balls had been placed on top to provide additional weight. Three other crew members were standing around the kettle, looking inside with something akin to awe on their faces.
“What’s going on?” Patton asked as he approached, and the crewmen just pointed, stepping back so Patton could peer into the kettle himself.
He didn’t know whether to be amazed or horrified.
“Get the captain,” he said, his voice barely above a whisper. “He needs to see this.”
The sailors nodded and hurried off to find Dee, leaving Patton alone to stare at what they’d found in growing disbelief.
Lying tangled in a net at the bottom of the kettle in about a half-foot of water was...some sort of creature. At first glance, Patton had thought the long, slippery tail belonged to a strange fish or eel, but as his eyes traveled upward, that thought was quickly dismissed from his mind. Halfway up the creature’s body, the scales gave way to smooth purple skin and a surprisingly human shaped torso, despite the fins on the creature’s sides and elbows. A set of gills was visible on the side of its neck, and a shock of dark hair fell around the creature’s ears, or at least, the wide, fan-shaped fins that protruded from where the ears would be on a human. It’s chest was rising in short, quick bursts, and Patton didn’t need to be a medical expert to tell that it was having trouble breathing.
Despite growing up in a port town and being around seamen for most of his life, Patton had never really put much stock into superstition, or the wild tales of sea monsters and magic that sailors brought back from their ventures out onto the open ocean. Sailors in his hometown tended to drink as much as they talked, and while their stories made for good entertainment, he’d never really believed any of them. And yet, staring down at the creature in the kettle, he knew now that some of the tales had to be true.
“What is it?”
Patton turned at the sound of Dee’s voice, and he found that there was only one thing he could say.
“Dee...they have a mermaid.”
As if on cue, the mermaid stirred, twisting in the kettle and letting out a muffled hiss as it strained against the net that had its arms pinned against its sides. Dee and Patton looked down, and Patton bit his tongue to keep himself from whimpering.
The eyes that met their gaze were wide with fear, but they narrowed in an instant as the mermaid hissed again, flaring out its fins in warning. Patton was sure that if it were able, the creature would be baring its teeth at them, but somehow the net had gotten tangled in such a way that it was wrapped around its face and digging into its mouth. If Patton had to guess, the mermaid had tried to bite its way out of the net and only succeeded in trapping itself further.
Patton looked up at Dee, who still hadn’t said anything and was staring into the kettle with a blank expression, which Patton knew meant he didn’t want to give away what he was thinking.
“Dee, we can’t just leave him here,” Patton said quietly.
“What other choices do we have?” Dee asked, raising an eyebrow. “Cut it loose and throw it back into the ocean?”
Patton glanced down at the creature again, his eyes traveling over the places where the net was digging into its skin. One of the sections was wrapped so tightly around its tail that it was cutting into the flesh, and Patton shook his head.
“He’s hurt...if we just threw him back into the ocean as is who knows what could happen to him? He needs time to recover.”
“So what do you propose? We can’t haul the tryworks onto the Sea Serpent while on the open ocean. And even if we could, if healing is the main goal, I don’t think curled up tight in a pot would be the best place to keep it.”
Patton chewed on his bottom lip, thinking.
“They haven’t finished fixing that damaged dinghy belowdecks yet,” he offered. “But she should hold water.”
Dee blinked.
“Are you suggesting that we fill the dinghy up with water like it’s some rich landlubber’s bathtub and...what, just keep a pet mermaid in it?”
“Not pet,” Patton insisted. “More like...patient.”
“You’re deflecting the rest of the question, Quartermaster,” Dee said, raising an eyebrow, and Patton raised one right back.
“And you’re avoiding giving me an order, Captain.”
Dee chuckled, then his eyes flicked back and forth between the kettle and Patton before he sighed.
“Alright, have it your way then. But Patton...if this creature turns out to be dangerous...if he ends up hurting one of the crew? That’ll be your responsibility, you understand?”
Patton nodded firmly.
“I do.” Then he grinned, and threw his arms around Dee in a quick but tight hug. “Thanks Dee!”
He let go and hurried above deck, hearing Dee mutter something about “reputation” as he went, and stopped when he ran into Remus sticking his head to look inside the (thankfully) unlit furnace the whalers kept on deck.
“Remus! I need you to do something for me,” he called, and Remus grinned.
“Anything you say, Mr. Quartermaster sir!”
“Can you get a couple of the crew to fill the dinghy belowdecks with buckets of seawater?”
“How many buckets?” Remus asked cheerfully, and Patton shrugged.
“As many as will fit. Oh, and Remus. I want the water dumped out into the dinghy. I’m not asking for a boat filled with buckets, I want a boat filled with water, okay?”
“Aww, now you’ve spoiled my fun,” Remus said in a mock pout, but then he winked and practically pranced back towards the Sea Serpent, nearly knocking over Roman as he skipped past.
“What’s he so happy about?” Roman asked, frowning as he watched Remus leave the deck of the The Carlotta.
“I gave him a weird order,” Patton said, sliding up next to Roman and sighing happily when Roman snaked an arm around his waist and planted a kiss on top of his head.
“Anything interesting in the cargo hold?” Roman asked, and Patton froze. “What?” Roman asked, pulling back and frowning down at him. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing’s wrong,” Patton said quickly, pressing a kiss to Roman’s cheek. “It’s just…” he glanced back towards the cargo hold, chewing on his bottom lip. “You’re going to want to see this.”
--- --- ---
“You found a what?” Logan asked, staring at his boyfriends in growing disbelief.
“A mermaid, Specs,” Roman said, and Logan resisted the urge to roll his eyes.
“We’re serious, Lo!” Patton insisted. “Why would we make something like that up?”
Logan raised an eyebrow.
“I saw Remus looking entirely to happy to be carrying buckets of water back and forth from the cargo hold, and you expect me not to be at least a little bit suspicious.”
“Okay, maybe I should have had someone else supervise setting up the dinghy, but to be fair, I knew that Remus wouldn’t waste a lot of time asking me why I wanted him to do that,” Patton said with a shrug.
“Listen, while ordinarily your suspicion might be slightly warranted–”
“Slightly?” Logan asked, and smirked when Roman spluttered indignantly.
“Really, Logan,” Patton said, his voice quiet and earnest. “We found a mermaid, and he needs our help. Come and see, okay?”
Logan frowned at Patton’s sudden shift in tone before he nodded slowly. Patton flashed him a grateful smile, then turned and led the way into the cargo hold. Logan had to admit, he wasn’t sure quite what he was expecting to see as he followed Patton down the stairs, but the Sea Serpent’s beat up dinghy filled with water hadn’t been high on the list. He opened his mouth, but as they approached the side of the boat, the question died in his throat. His eyes traveled over the purple skin, gills and fins, and wide eyes with slit pupils.
“Oh.”
“You can say that again,” Roman said, raising an eyebrow.
Logan elected not to speak again, noting the way the creature shrunk back at Roman’s loud voice, choosing instead to take a step closer and get down on one knee beside the dinghy so he was eye level with the creature. It thrashed and hissed as he approached, though whether the hiss was a sign of aggression or an expression of pain as the net dug deeper into its flesh, Logan couldn’t be sure. Either way, the first move clearly had to be removing the net.
Logan pulled his knife from his belt and the creature thrashed again at the sight of the blade, and it bumped the side of the dinghy, sloshing some of the water over the side.
“Be still,” Logan said in as soothing a voice as he could manage. “We need to get that net off you, and if you struggle you could become injured.”
Logan had been speaking more with tone in mind than with words, but to his surprise, the creature cocked its head at the words before hissing again, more deliberately this time. Logan froze, staring into the creature’s eyes.
“Can...can you understand me?” he asked, and the creature moved its head up and down.
“Did he just nod?” Patton breathed, and the creature tried to nod again, hissing in pain as the net around its face dug deeper into its jaw.
“Don’t try to move,” Logan said, holding up his empty hand in what he hoped was a placating gesture. “You’ll only hurt yourself further. Could you blink your eyes once for yes, twice for no? If you can really understand us?”
There was a beat of silence as they all held their breaths, and then the creature slowly blinked once.
“Was that a yes?” Logan asked to confirm, and the creature blinked once again. “Wonderful. I’m going to cut this net off of you, is that alright?”
The creature didn’t respond at first, eyeing Logan warily, and Logan frowned.
“Do you wish to remain tangled in the net?”
Two blinks.
“Are you currently in pain?”
One blink.
“If you let me remove the net, we can see about tending to your wounds. But if you continue to thrash about, I may accidentally hurt you...and I do not want that to happen.”
The creature eyed his knife again, and Logan tried to imagine things from its perspective. It had been captured by humans and transported from ship to ship like so much cargo, and now a human was crouching next to it brandishing a knife...all things considered, Logan supposed he would react similarly if he were in such a situation.
“Are you worried that I will hurt you?” he asked.
One blink, and Patton made a quiet, distressed noise behind them. Logan ignored the urge to soothe his boyfriend, knowing that Roman was there to provide comfort if needed. Right now, getting this creature to trust him was the top priority.
“We have had ample opportunity to do so already,” Logan pointed out bluntly.
“Lo…” Roman’s voice was uneasy, hesitant, but Logan pressed onward. He could only hope that this creature was capable of logical reasoning.
“Whether it was on the ship you initially were held captive on, or in transporting you here, my comrades and I have had the opportunity to cause you pain intentionally. Have we taken it?”
Two blinks.
“Would it not make more sense, if hurting you was my intention, to simply move forward in an attack rather than wait for your permission.”
One blink. Logan smiled.
“So logically, we must not want harm to come to you. Quite the opposite. But if you don’t hold yourself still, more harm may occur. Now, may I approach?”
Time stretched out between them, and Logan waited patiently as the creature’s eyes flicked back and forth between Logan, the knife, and Roman and Patton standing behind him. Eventually, he blinked once, and Logan smiled again.
“Alright. Keep very still now…”
The mermaid (or merman, if the top half of his anatomy was comparable to that of a human) squeezed its eyes shut, long webbed fingers curling into fists as Logan began to cut away at the net. He’d scarcely been working a minute before a soft, pleasant sound filled the cargo hold, and the merman’s eyes snapped open.
Roman was humming, a quiet, soothing tune that Logan recognized as one of the lullabies that Roman would sometimes sing to either of his boyfriends if they were having trouble sleeping. The merman’s face changed from one of shock, to curiosity, to something bordering on contentment, and by the time Logan had managed to cut away the last bit of rope, the tension had drained from the merman’s shoulders almost completely.
“There, finished,” Logan said with a small smile, standing up slowly and taking a step back.
The merman took a moment to stretch his limbs out, opening and shutting his jaw (which, Logan noted, had rows of sharp, needle-like teeth) and swishing his tail.
Patton made a cooing sound, and Logan knew that the shorter of his partners was completely enamored by the creature.
“Better?” Logan asked, and the merman looked up at him. For a moment, Logan was expecting another blink, but then the creature opened his mouth.
“Yes. Thank you.”
His voice was low, slightly raspy rumble from the back of his throat, and Logan told himself that the flash of excitement that ran through him was because of the discovery that such a creature could talk and nothing more.
“Are you hurt very badly?”
A quick glance at Patton revealed that Logan was not the only one who had suddenly been struck with a reminder of just how gay he was, but to Patton’s credit, he seemed to recover quickly.
“I…don’t know.” The merman ran his hands over the gash in his tail, wincing, and Logan hummed in sympathy.
“I think it would be best for you to remain here for the time being, at least until you have healed sufficiently.”
“What?” the merman’s head snapped up, his eyes growing wide. “No, you can’t just keep me here, I–”
“It would not be permanent,” Logan assured quickly. “Only until we are sure that you’re well enough to return to the ocean. If you were to return now, in your weakened state, your chances of fully recovering would be slim.”
“Yes, we wouldn’t dream of imprisoning you here like some sort of animal,” Roman chimed in. “Not like those dreadful whalers did.”
“If you really don’t want to stay, kiddo, we won’t force you,” Patton added. “You can make your own choices, after all...we just want to make sure you’re okay.”
The merman looked between the three of them warily, before glancing down at the cuts on his body and nodding slowly.
“Alright then.”
“Oh, yay!” Patton squealed happily, causing the merman to jump slightly. “My name’s Patton, and these are my partners Roman and Logan, do you have a name?”
For a moment, Logan thought the merman wasn’t going to speak, but after a long moment of silence, he opened his mouth again.
“Virgil.”
Logan gave him a small smile.
“Well Virgil, welcome aboard the Sea Serpent.”
--- --- ---
Virgil was very confused. When he’d initially been caught by the human whalers, he’d been sure he was going to die. He saw what they were doing to that whale corpse, and when the humans had hauled him onto their ship and thrown him into a cramped metal pot, he was certain that he would be the next to be chopped into pieces. For three days, he’d tried to untangle himself to no avail, and by the time that Patton had found him, he’d all but given up hope on making it out alive.
But instead of hurting, these three, strange humans were helping him. He’d been on this ship for what was close to a month now, and not once had any one of the crew been hostile towards him. The boat, while not the most spacious of homes, gave him enough room to get himself in virtually any position he wanted to, and he found himself now floating on his back and absently sucked on a fish bone, (the last remnant of the food that Patton had brought him that day) reflecting on the three humans he tended to see the most.
Patton had been the first to visit him frequently. Virgil had honestly been so hungry directly after Logan had gotten the net off of him that he would have accepted anything offered to him, but Patton had asked him what he ate, and when he simply said “fish” brought him three different kinds to choose from, even apologizing for not having more choices. Patton was like a sunbeam incarnate, warm and bright and full of the promise of life, and despite how terrified Virgil had been when they’d first locked eyes, he found himself looking forward to all the times Patton would drop by to see him, not just the ones where he was bringing food.
More confusing was Logan, who should be far more intimidating, with his blunt way of speaking and his detached approach to the world. And yet, Virgil found his words calming, an anchoring grip in the middle of a current, and Virgil began to miss Logan’s soothing, steady voice when he wasn’t around. Even the numerous questions about everything from what Virgil ate to how he learned to talk to whether there were other mermaids besides himself and what their societies were like, were somehow endearing instead of unsettling when they came from Logan. Virgil knew Logan didn’t want to hunt his kind down or dissect them, he was just...curious. Brightly, passionately curious, and that curiosity was infectious.
Virgil found himself asking Logan questions about humans, which Logan was all too happy to answer.
And then there was Roman, loud, boisterous, impossible Roman. If Virgil were honest, the first few times he’d dropped by, Virgil had been annoyed. Roman talked too loud, too fast, and Virgil shouldn’t enjoy his company, he really shouldn’t...except Roman sang nearly everywhere he went, and Virgil couldn’t help but be drawn to the sound. His own song was bottled up inside of him, itching to be released into the world, but Virgil didn’t want to know what might happen to the crew of the Sea Serpent if they suddenly heard siren song coming from inside their own ship. But one day, Roman was packing something up at the other end of the cargo hold, singing a soft and familiar tune as he worked, and Virgil couldn’t help himself.
He sang softly so that none of the crew would hear him, closing his eyes and losing himself in the harmony, ducking and weaving around Roman’s voice as it steadily grew louder–
Virgil’s eyes flew open and Roman was only a few feet away, his work forgotten in the corner.
“Roman, snap out of it!” Virgil cried, and Roman blinked at him in confusion.
“Snap out of what, Vee?”
“I...I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to,” Virgil said hurriedly. “I didn’t think you would hear me, I didn’t mean to lure you, I promise–”
“Lure me?”
“My song,” Virgil explained. “You heard me singing.”
“Yes I did,” Roman said with a smile. “It was lovely.”
“Yeah, well, if a human hears my song they get sort of...bewitched? You’ll see your heart’s desire, and have no choice but to follow it. So I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to hurt you.”
“Hurt me?” Roman asked with a laugh. “Newsflash Virgil, I was only coming over because I wanted to hear you sing more. I didn’t see my heart’s desire or anything, I just saw you in your boat, like always.”
Virgil’s heart just about stopped beating right then and there, but he forced his face to remain blank.
“Oh...alright then, I’m uh. I’m glad you’re okay.”
Roman smiled his big, boisterous smile at him, but it suddenly turned shy, and Virgil frowned.
“Do you think you could...do it again?” Roman asked, and Virgil raised an eyebrow.
“Sing with you?”
Roman nodded, and slowly a smile spread across Virgil’s face.
“I’d love to.”
--- --- ---
It had been just over a month, and Virgil’s wounds finally seemed to be completely healed. Logan had looked them over and declared them sufficiently healed, and Virgil swore up and down that the cuts no longer pained him, though there were thin lines of scar tissue up and down his pale purple skin that would forever serve as a reminder to the terrifying ordeal he’d been through. Roman had half a mind to find the crew of The Carlotta again and exact vengeance on behalf of his beloved siren.
As soon as the thought crossed his mind, Roman’s face turned bright red, and he tried to push it back down into whatever crevice in his heart it had crawled out of, but it was too late. The thought was released into his mind, and now that it was free it was determined to be as loud and noticeable as possible.
Beloved, beloved, beloved.
It was the day Virgil was going to back to the ocean, and Roman didn’t want him to go.
One look at the expressions on his love’s faces as they all gathered on the deck to say goodbye was all he needed to know that they felt the same as him. They had been together long enough to easily tell what the others were feeling, and they all three were painfully aware of how much they would miss Virgil when he was gone. A tiny selfish part of Roman said that he should stay here on the Sea Serpent forever, but unlike his first unbidden thought of the day, this one passed like a wave across the sea before he even had time to process it. For as much as he might want Virgil to stay, he wanted him to be happy much more. And Virgil could never be happy living confined on a ship like this. He deserved his freedom, and Roman’s heart would count itself privileged to have known Virgil while it could.
“Are you ready?”
Logan’s tone was careful and even, but Roman knew his boyfriend well. His voice was too clipped, too measured. He may not be as obvious as Patton trying to hold back tears, but he was just as upset that Virgil was leaving as Roman himself was.
“I think so,” Virgil said. He spoke with so much more confidence now than he had the day they had met, and Roman let himself feel proud that they’d been able to break through Virgil’s rough exterior in the time they’d had to know him.
“Thank you. For everything,” Virgil added, and Roman nodded.
“We’ll miss you, Virgil,” Patton said tearfully, and Virgil smiled softly at him.
“I’ll miss you too, Pat.”
Patton knelt down to hug him, then stepped back so Logan could grasp his hand.
“Thank you for teaching me so much, Virgil. I must admit, I will miss our talks.”
“Me too, Lo,” Virgil said, and then he looked at Roman.
Roman stooped and pressed a kiss to Virgil’s cheek before he could stop himself.
“So long, Dark and Gloomy.”
Virgil looked stunned, but he managed a smile back.
“So long, Princey.”
Virgil looked at the three of them one last time before he turned and pulled himself up over the railing of the ship and disappeared with a splash into the ocean below.
“Oh gee, I’m gonna miss him so much,” Patton sighed, leaning onto Logan’s chest.
“As am I, Patton,” Logan agreed quietly.
Roman did not speak, but he knew he didn’t need to. He turned instead to go help his brother haul the water out of the cargo hold, hoping that the distraction would keep his mind off his feelings.
But before he made it very far, there was a great *splash* behind him, and he turned just in time to see Virgil land back on the deck with a rather comical flopping sound.
“Virgil!” Patton cried, and Virgil took a deep breath.
“Ifitsallthesametoyouguysidliketostayhere,” he rushed out, and Roman’s heart leaped with hope.
“I...I’m sorry, did you say…?” Logan looked confused, but a teensy bit hopeful as well, and Patton was outright beaming.
“Did you say you wanna stay here, kiddo?” he asked, and Virgil nodded, his cheeks flushing a dark purple.
“It...it doesn’t have to be in the dinghy all the time,” he said. “I can swim in the ocean sometimes, catch my own food, that kinda thing. But um...yeah. I’d like to stay with the Sea Serpent. With...with you guys, if that’s okay with–”
“Nothing would make us happier,” Roman said firmly, and Virgil looked up, a shy smile spreading across his face.
“Really?”
“Really,” Roman said, just as Patton squealed and dropped to the deck to wrap Virgil in another hug.
“Get down here, you two,” he ordered, and Roman smiled as he and Logan knelt beside them and allowed themselves to be pulled into the hug.
It was a little bit crowded, and Roman’s shirt was getting wet from where he was pressed against Virgil’s back, but he didn’t care. Right here, sitting on the deck of his ship with the sun overhead and his three loves in his arms, was exactly where Roman wanted to be.

How Remus Started Working For Patton: Part Four
Tw: Remus being Remus/Swearing/mention of snakes but only for a moment
Masterpost
"Wow, I expected an old warehouse, or perhaps even a shady bar. This is... hilarious." The remark didn't come from Remus, no, this time it came from Virgil.
The group had stopped outside of a quaint-looking bakery, the shimmery blue and yellow sign reading 'Down With The Pastryarchy.' Virg was right though, it didn't seem to fit the vibe of 'gangster.' At least not to Remus. It was cute though! As in how a poison dart frog was cute before you realized it could kill you!
"First of all, warehouse?? Who would set up there? That's just irresponsible! How would you even heat such a large area?? Secondly, have you been inside one? Its just so loud!" Dee stepped inside, letting the others follow.
"For your information, I have been inside a bar. Probably for different reasons than you, ya overgrown garden snake."
"Excuse me! I'm not always up to no good!"
"The news would say differently."
"Society has never portrayed those who work outside its crippling boundaries as good. As you probably don't know Mr. Gloom Sky."
Pat butted into the tussle, wagging a finger at both of the men. "Now now, there's no need to be throwing names around. Its not very sweet of you two."
Those in question turned to look at him, this bubble of sunshine, and at least had some decency to look ashamed. Virgil could at least understand why Demetrius had warned that Patton was a force to be reckoned with.
Remus in the meantime, was laughing. Wait. Why was he laughing???
"That was a good pun. You know, considering the setting?"
Smiling up at him, Pat squeezed his cheek playfully. "I didn't think you'd catch that!"
"Well, I had to cake a chance! It clearly paid off," God Patton was cute. Remus was about to rattle off several more puns before Virgil elbowed his side, cutting him off.
"Less flirting, more getting to the point."
Blushing furiously, Remus swatted at Virgil, both for elbowing him and eluding to potential romantic feelings between him and Patton. Seriously, not everything he said to Pat was flirting!
Ok he was kinda flirting.
Just a little though! He wasn't about to rush anything! Especially when he hadn't asked Patton how he felt on the anatomies of several creatures, and the different ways in which you could steal someone's eye! How would he know if Patton was good for him until then?
For the umpteenth time that morning, Remus's thoughts were cut off, this particular time by Dee. Butts on a fish, he needed to chose a different time for his internal monologues.
"Come then if you're so desperate to find out. The entrance is this way."
Opening a door labeled 'employees only,' he seemed to...descend? Wait what?
A sudden grip on his arm was the only warning before Pat pulled him and Virgil in after, giggling. "You guys will love it! We worked so hard on it!"
"I find that hard to believe..."
This time it was Remus who elbowed Virgil, afraid of him upsetting Patton. "I'm sure it will be great Pat Pie!"
Virg groaned at yet another pun, but let the two of them be dragged down the stairs. It was surprising how they managed to fit this spiral staircase so seamlessly into the bakery, no surprise why someone hadn't found out their base yet. It was hiding in plain sight as far as anyone could tell.
Dee, further up ahead, called back to them, his voice echoing from the tall ceiling needed to fit in the staircase. "Pat, remember the trick step. They don't know about it."
"Oh! Right. Guys, hop over this next one ok?"
"Why would we need to-" Virgil made his mistake of not heeding Dee's warning, being thrown back by the step sliding out from beneath him. "Motherfu-"
"-By the sounds of idiocy I assume he didn't listen." Dee turned back to them, clearly hiding a smile as Remus supported Virgil, only to have the step beneath HIM slide into the wall as well. Before Virgil could snap back at him, all the steps were pushed back into the wall, resulting in all three of them falling the short distance to the ground.
"Oh I like this." Chuckling, Remus helped Patton to his feet with a flourish, before pulling up Virgil as well.
"This is some tomb raider bullshit, I'm calling it out right now."
His smirk all too clear on his face, Dee gestured to a lever right next to where the stairs had been. "No, tomb raider bullshit as you so eloquently call it, would be this lever sending you into a pit of snakes."
Eyes wide, Remus could hardly contain his delight at the prospect. "Does it send us into a pit of snakes??"
"Unfortunately, no. Just into a pit. Snakes wouldn't live well down there, there's no source of food or heat for them to thermoregulate their body temperatures."
Patton turned to face him, voice full of concern as he reached for Remus's hand again. "Plus, what if we fell on them! The poor snakes might get hurt!"
"You are right...but think about how cool it would be!"
"But snakes!"
"Ok, what about...a tank full of jellyfish? They'd have water and the water would stop the jellyfish from getting hurt!" Remus was surprised that Patton so easily took his hand, but it made him feel all fuzzy inside, the good kind. It was very unlike when you got a mouth full of raccoon fur.
Don't...don't ask.
As the two debated the moral complications of jellyfish compared to snakes and eventually to electric eels, Virgil deadlocked his gaze on Demetrius. If glaring could kill, he would have been dead where he stood. Unluckily for Virgil, he just smirked back at him in turn, continuing to lead the group to wherever they seemed to be going. At this point, he couldn't tell.
God what he would do to wipe that stupid look off of his face. It was unfair. He couldn't be hot AND evil! That was just cruel!
And he still had his stupid jacket off, showing his stupid muscular arms, and his stupid face with it's stupid grin was just making the situation worse, and it was all STUPID.
"Take a picture punk. It'll last longer."
"I'm just waiting for you to finally show us this place you've been droning of for the past thirty minutes. It feels like I've been forced to follow you for hours already."
"Don't worry Dark and Stormy, we're already here."
With that, he opened a door into one of the biggest rooms they'd ever seen. Wasn't this underground?? How did it have such a high ceiling?
And it was filled with people who Virgil would normally avoid. They all had that look about them, like if you looked at them wrong, they'd fuck you up. These were the king of people Remus tended to piss off when he was drunk and made everyone in the nearby vicinity regret him doing so.
"We're back you punks!" Dee called out to the group, smiling? Of course he was smiling. He was a gangster.
"Hey welcome back boss! And hello Patton!"
"Who are these two?"
"Where ya been? Normally you're not out so early!"
"These guys new members?"
Honestly it was kinda a lot for Virgil. Remus on the other hand was thrilled about this. They all had something chaotic about them! One of them had a sword??? Who the fuck fights with a sword!? Another was carrying what looked like a jar of live bees? Remus didn't know!!!
"These are visitors. Don't rough them up too much. Patty likes them."
"Dee!" Pat's cheeks tinted pink, clearly embarrassed at being called out. He didn't let go of Remus's hand though like he thought he would, instead tucking himself into Ree's side. Holy fuck. He was using Remus to hide in?? That was a first for him.
"Sorry, this is Patton's...friend, and the friend of Patton's friend." Cheekily, he and Pat exchanged a glance that Ree was too slow to interpret. But it made Pat's face turn even more red, so Remus assumed it was an inside joke or something.
Virgil in the meantime seemed thrown off by how domestic the inside of the base seemed, and being honest, he couldn't blame him. They both assumed it was much less...pleasant? Was that the word? No, there had to be more more suitable for this odd situation....
Calm! It was calm. God Patton was making him feel dizzy from all the sudden affection or something, usually he was better at this!
Remus looked down at the smaller man now cuddling into his side, sighing softly and unclasping their hands to set the overcoat he had brought with him around his shoulders. "You cold or something Pat?" He was ignoring Dee's comment from before, as it clearly was rubbing Patton the wrong way.
"Oh! Um, yes, a little! Thank you." Both of them played into the white lie, brushing it off to make him feel more comfortable. But perhaps Patton wasn't hiding in Remus just from the embarrassment...
Virgil cleared his throat from behind them, reminding the two that Dee had been waiting for them still.
Pat still kept the coat around his shoulders nevertheless, as they all packed into Dee's office.
"So. Remus."
"And me." Virgil interjected, sitting on the arm of couch that faced Dee's desk.
"And Virgil. You're probably confused as to why I made Remus a member of the gang."
"Uh yeah dimwit, you really had to drag us this far just to tell us this?"
Pat frowned at him, going over to sit on the desk near Dee. "That's not particularly nice of you to say."
"Sorry Patton. But I'm serious. This could have gone a lot faster." Virg couldn't believe himself. He was apologizing to the co-leader of a gang?? Just because he gave off disappointed dad vibes did not mean that he was completely trustworthy.
"I thought it best to reveal my hand, so to speak. You do know that telling the authorities about us would be unwise, due to the vast amount of resources we have. It would be a pain to have to move locations and change identities after we've set up shop here."
"So...this is a threat."
"Not necessarily. It's an invitation. For Remus specifically. He doesn't have to participate in our business, I just thought he'd appreciate being able to freely talk with Patton, and being part of our association helps with that."
Remus was...a tad shocked at this news. He was put into a gang...to be able to flirt cause havoc with Patton?
As if he could read his thoughts, Dee waved a hand dismissively. "While normally this doesn't happen, I decided to make it an exception. Originally, you, Virgil, weren't a part of the plan, but as you are Remus's roommate, I wanted to cover my bases."
"Don't tell me you're gonna pierce my ear as well."
"I doubt I could even try without losing a finger. The only reason I did it to Remus was because I was in a hurry."
Pat swung his legs gently as they talked, looking over at Ree for his reaction. It was, intrigued to say the least, Remus seemed to be pretty open to most things. Was that a strength or a downfall of his? Patton couldn't tell. But he did enjoy the coat around his shoulders, smiling to himself as he tucked into it.
Maybe this one would work?
And maybe he'd make a new friend as well! Virgil seemed nice, if not a bit guarded. He supposed that was to be expected, it's not every day that you get told your friend (best friend?) is now a member of a gang that controls half the city.
The words between his brother and Virgil grew muddled, as Patton daydreamed what this meant. It was a little shocking for him to find Remus calling his attention, snapping his fingers from the spot he had taken next to Virgil.
It was enough to get Patton back into reality, and to hear that Dee was asking him a question. "Pat were you listening? I asked what you thought about Virgil being allowed in as well."
"Oh! Sorry Dee Dee, just caught up in some thoughts! Sure Virgil can come in, maybe he can try some of your baked goods!"
Pat had seen the way his brother kept looking at Virg, so he thought he'd...well, help him out a little. Even if it resulted currently in an embarrassed Dee in the meantime. Sorry!
"Wait were you the one to come up with the idea of having your super bad gang cover being a pastry shop??" Virgil grinned mischievously at this new information, and Patton could tell that it lessened the stigma about Dee, at least a little bit.
"Not completely! I just thought it might be a good cover, and Pat had already come up with the name! What was I supposed to do???"
"That's rich! The snake in the grass bakes?"
"Wha- no!!!"
Glancing back over to Remus, Pat was delighted to find him cackling at the chaos Pat had created.
Perhaps this would become their new normal? If it did, Pat definitely wouldn't mind.
-Just an author's note-
Sorry it took so long to finally get to this point! I wasn't expecting the buildup to last four chapters 😅There will certainly be more backstory and action as I write this, so I apologise for how slow it is
Thanks for sticking around through it though! I really appreciate it

When you have no light to guide you And no one to walk beside you I will come to you
"I'm gonna take dinner," Aedan called across the colosseum to his partner, voice echoing on the high walls. It was a quiet night. Then, most nights were. Being on patrol in the arena was a useless task. Unless there was a fight on, nobody came here. If they did, it was usually kids wanting to play fight in the arena. They weren't gonna hurt anything. Aedan generally let them go for it. Sure, it was a little macabre, letting kids wrestle in the pit where so much blood was spilled regularly, but, it was a big, empty sandpit at the end of the day. It was less dangerous than other parts of the city, like the docks, or running through the streets.
The other man waved his hand, dismissive.
Aedan headed to the back corridors, then down to the dungeons. He had a special task tonight, off the record.
He grabbed a torch off the wall as he descended. Down into the holding cells. They were mostly empty unless Lucio found a new contender to go up against the permanent resident. Which, he hadn’t. He was preoccupied with some party nonsense.
Walking up to the cage, he kicked the bars with the tip of his boot, twice in rapid succession. "Hey, big guy."
The massive form was huddled up in the corner, cast fully in shadow. He didn't stir. There was a chance he was asleep, but in his experience, The Scourge was pretty closed off and was more likely just ignoring him. Couldn't blame the poor guy. He wouldn't want to be fucked with either if he was in his place.
"I come bearing gifts. My s...the Nurse, from the castle? She loaded me down, guy. Said you were looking kinda rough last time she was down here."
Muriel had his back in the corner, knees were drawn up, arms crossed over the top, head down. He blinked in the dark, confused. What the hell was this guy talking about? The nurse? Celeste?
"Bullshit," he replied, rumbling. "Go away."
Aedan opened his satchel and pulled out a small metal box. He knelt down, laid it on the floor, and slid it across the cell. "She said you liked that. Smoked eel or something. Some fancy-ass candy. There should be some meds in there, too. She said to put it on that cut. The one on your side."
He didn't move. Aedan continued. "She said she'd have come herself, but her...professor, Valedmar...uh...She's not been keeping up with her studies the way they would like her to be. Something to do with finding her with the Magician in the garden one too many nights in a row. She's...grounded. On probation. Something like that."
Muriel slowly lifted his head, reaching his long arm out to take the box. He pried it open. Sure enough. Dried, smoked eel. A couple of those expensive chocolates. A small vial with pearlescent liquid swirling inside. Packed with care. A little note on top with his name in her perfect handwriting. "Take care of yourself. See you soon. Celeste."
"What the hell was she doing with you?" he said, his tone flat, but a hint quizzical. It didn't make sense. Celeste with one of Lucio's guards.
"That's...complicated," Aedan replied. "Best we don't delve into that tonight. Just...take me at my word that your little arrangement is safe with me. I know my word doesn't mean much, but it is what it is."
Muriel was just glad to have something to eat. He ate the eel slowly. It was sweet, smoky. And, more importantly, there seemed to be a lot of it for such a small box. She had magicked the box. One of Asra's tricks. She was learning.
Muriel stared up at Aedan. He was illuminated by the torchlight. He looked like Lucio, sort of. Bigger than Lucio. Taller.  Lankier in some places, burlier in others. His hair was white blonde, sunbleached. Not quite as yellow as Lucio's. Not clean-shaven, he had a hint of a beard. Softer. None of that dramatic, stupid makeup. He looked like someone else, too. His mouth and nose. He couldn't place it. It was familiar but foreign.
He wasn't used to seeing him on his own. Usually, he was a step behind Lucio. Backup. A bodyguard. Lucio tended to suck all the light out of the room. This man seemed...normal. Kind.
"You know, I'm a big fan. I mean...as big a fan as you can be of that kind of thing. You put on a good show." Aedan said. It was equal parts enthusiasm and sympathy. It was true. He had never seen anything quite so impressive as this guy in the pit. But, it was a gory task. Aedan didn't quite have a stomach for it. And, he assumed, the Scourge didn't either. Linnea wouldn't talk about him so fondly if he did.
Muriel glared, his eyes caught by the firelight. That was confirmation enough.
Aedan sighed and dropped his head. "Listen, guy. If there was anything I could do to...make this stop. Trust me. I'd do it. But...Jag säger inget, så har jag ingenting sagt." He said, remorseful, slipping into his father's tongue. "I say nothing, so nothing I have said." He repeated, clarifying. I have an opinion, but I can't rock the boat.
He had been with Lucio for a while. He didn’t know what could be done. Lucio continued to make every bad decision he possibly could. There were so few people left of any substance in the inner circle to keep his head on straight. Equal parts people worming their way around him, trying to get something out of him, and Lucio being an absolute fuck, and wearing down anyone who tried to help him be a better person. All Aedan could do was run damage control in the background, when he could.
"Look, you don't know me from a hole in the ground. But...Know this. If I ever get the chance to make this right in someway. I'll do it."
Muriel snorted. "What are you going to do? Don't make promises you can't keep."
"No promises. But...I'll try. Hopefully, I'll figure something out."
It was quiet for a long moment. He knew that the other guard would come looking before too much longer. "I'll tell Celeste you liked the gift. I don't know the next time I'll be rounding down here, but...I don't know. Maybe I can talk to one of the other guys about looking the other way for the magician while I'm not here."
Muriel squinted, confused. "Who the hell are you? Why are you trying to help me?"
"My name is Aedan. I don't know if who I am is really important at this point. You can call me a friend. I think before this is all over, we'll need all the friends we can get."
And then, Aedan was gone. Muriel watched him as he went, still bewildered.
---
Aedan was laying in his bed. He knew the end was near. He had been in and out of consciousness all day.
A few friends had come. The sweet kitchen maids that had been his bedfellows, groundskeepers, a few townspeople that had caught wind of the news that Nadia had allowed access, and fellow guards. Like the one that was with him now, standing well back.
He was having a moment of clarity, and he had latched on to it, taking his last opportunity.
"Don't fucking fight me. Just do what I'm asking. Get the Magician. Take him to the Colosseum. Get the gladiator out. Give them whatever they need."
The other man protested. "But, Lucio..."
"What is Lucio going to do? He's not far behind me. And what need does he have of a gladiator in an abandoned Colosseum?" he spat. He was bitter. It was all for nothing. His family was gone. All but Celeste, working endlessly on a cure that wasn't coming. Everything was falling apart. "Please, give me this one thing. Let me do one good thing before I'm gone."
The man nodded his consent and pressed his hand to his own chest. "Goodbye, Aedan. In another life, brother."
Aedan sighed, relaxing a bit. His head was swimming. "Before you go...call for the nurse. The little dark-headed one. Celeste. I don't care what you have to tell Valdemar. Just...get her here. Fast."
His dog, Ebba, a gift from Lucio, curled up next to him, whining. She had always been such a good, sweet girl. She was so soft. So loving. He would miss her. His hands smoothed over her furry ears. She inched her way up under his arm, her cold nose at his neck. It felt good, so cool against his burning skin. "Be good, Ebba. I'm sorry, girl."
Celeste was running. Her feet wouldn't carry her fast enough. Her skirts were balled up in her fists after she had tripped running up a flight of stairs in her panic.
She heard a long, mournful howl echoing on the walls and her heart seized. It was Ebba. The air was knocked out of her, and she dropped to her knees, screaming.

Little Mermaid - Bucky x Reader Ch. 3
“Do you think she’s dead?” Peter asked Bucky while they pulled Y/N up on the shore out of the nasty storm that happened a few hours ago.
“I’m not sure… Thor, can you tell if she is breathing?” Bucky asked nervously. Thor took her foot to try and hear her heartbeat,
“Oh no, Bucky I think she’s gone.” Thor starts to cry and being over dramatic. Y/N started to stir a bit. Bucky looked at her and just started at how beautiful she is. He knew that he wanted to be with her, she took a breath and started to flutter her eyes open, she saw the most gorgeous man ever. His bright blue eyes tinkled in the sunlight, his smile and the awe he had in his eye looking down at her.
“Um- who- “Y/N started to say when she heard her Pit bull Oreo coming to her. Bucky, Peter, and Thor were about to get out sight before they were caught. Y/n looked so confusing getting helped up by Carol.
“Oh sweetie, I was started to get worried! We need to get you into the infirmary to make sure you and you aren’t sick.” Carol said helping Y/N up from the beach.
“I’m, um. Did you see that guy? Umm, where have I been?” Y/N said rubbing her head, all she could remember was the boat crashing then waking up seeing such a gorgeous man that you will remember his voice saying to her I want to be part of your world, my love.”
“Oh, silly Y/N you are fine! Just got a little too crazy when everything went down at the ship. Let’s get you inside dear.” Carol said carrying up the confused and dazed girl. Bucky watched from a safe distance.
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
While Bucky was on his way to his secret room where he thinks and has his human objects and things. When Bucky got up there, he saw his door wide up and heard things crashing.
“WHY HAVEN’T YOU TOLD ME THIS BEFORE STEVE? I TOLD YOU TO LET ME KNOW WHEN BUCKY GOES OUT LIKE THIS.” Tony snarled while flinging the spoons and crock strews.
“Well Tony, I don’t why you overreacting. I at least I told you about this place, I sneak in here when him and Peter were talking about how he wanted to have legs and be with someone who love him for him and not judge him for his past.” Steve explained walking around at the wrecked room. Steve looked up to see Bucky. His heart broke just a little bit, he never seen his friend so upset.
“Are you kidding me Father? I can’t believe you would betray me Steve… After everything that happened…” Bucky said with the saddest voice and hurt. His room that he came to almost ever single day was now demolished because Tony didn’t like how much he had human stuff in the compound.
“I TOLD I FORBID YOU TO HAVE THESE BARBARIANS THINGS IN HERE!” Tony was yelling at Bucky for disobeying. All Tony saw was red. He blasted the rest of everything. Including the statue, he got from Y/n shipwreck a few hours before. Bucky saw everything he ever loved that he scavenged for… gone in a flash.
“I hate you father…” Bucky said with a threatening of tears coming.
Tony’s eyes soften at what just happened and saw what he did to his own Sons collect. He looked at Steve,
“What have I done?” Tony asked putting his face in his hands.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He swam as fast as he could out of there to clear his head and cry that everything he had was gone. He gone too far from the compound to calm down. He heard something coming in the corner of his eye.
“Hello there little one, aren’t you far from home?” Natasha asked swimming around him with a wicked smile on her face. “Yes, poor little prince. I have heard you wanted to be on land with that princess Y/N hmm?” Clint said smirking at Natasha.
“How do you know that?” Bucky asked very confused why these eels knew what he wanted.
“Oh honey, you should come with us the evil wizard Loki can help you become a human you have always wanted to be.” Natasha snickered at him, looking at Clint like they finally got him hooked to come.
“How do I know that you are not lying to me? Maybe you guys just want me for my power?” Bucky asked looking at them in a questionable look.
“James, we don’t want anything. We just want to help you with what you want.” Clint said while giving Natasha a wink. Bucky thought for a while about what these two were in front of him waiting for the response.
“Fine, I’d love to see what Loki has for me. I do what to be a human and meet Y/N and get to know her.” Bucky says following them. Peter was trying to get his attention to let him know that this was a bad idea.
“Um, Buck. This is a bad idea!” Peter said tugging on his fin to bring him back.
“Peter I am leaving and that is final!” Bucky said flicking Peter off his fin as he follows Clint and Natasha to Loki’s cave.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“STEVE!!” Peter yells as he swims fast to find Steve.
“What do you want kid?” Steve asked turning around and getting tackled not realizing how close Peter was to him.
“It’s Bucky! He’s getting lead over to see Loki, his nasty eels promised him that he would be a human if he followed them! We have to go NOW.!” Peter said grabbing Steve and racing out and trying to get there before Bucky made a mistake in heading over there and making an agreement with Loki.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Loki looked at his crystal ball watching Bucky decide what he wanted, Loki smirked at the imagine.
“Excellent, what a stupid native boy. He is in for a treat when I see him.” Loki smirked ask he swims away and gets everything set up for Bucky’s arrive.

10, 31, 32, 41? 🖤
10. What is your favorite class to play?
i haven’t played as a lot, but i’ve got two warlock characters and i think i really like their dynamic :0 the relationship-with-the-patron aspect is fun for rp and story stuff, and the lack of spell slots makes spellcasting a little easier to keep track/less stressful of bc you just don’t have as many options :p my other main character is a bard &  in comparison i feel a lot Less Pressure playing a warlock
31. Tell me about your current party!
i’m in 3 currently so!! brief summaries of all of em booyah
PARTY 1 [the bandwagon of fun! party for a homebrew game], currently composed of:
”Wren” Firenze Jasperdune, a brass dragonborn bard [college of glamour]
“Sunny” Soluminaris Codexia, a high (sun) elf evocation wizard [+1 lvl knowledge cleric]
Basil Smalltown, a lightfoot halfling rogue [thief]
Blank, a warforged eldritch knight fighter [of mysterious origin, name comes from him saying “entry blank” when we asked what his name was]
“Nova” Novella Dante, a half orc sorcerer [dragon soul, gold]
We also have Clove, a high (moon) elf druid [circle of the moon] who was kidnapped :’) but will probs be returning soon bc her player, who is currently playing nova, misses her a Lot and kinda gave her away impulsively.
PARTY 2 [still unnamed, depite the campaign running for almost a year now. Playing Storm King’s Thunder,, but with plenty of added stuff],  currently composed of:
Luka Oarback Um’Qatha, a goliath explorer [homebrew class bay-bee; he’s the survivalist subclass, which has some ranger-y flavour to it]
“Gnat” Nathan Gruffson, a [kinda babboon-esque] goblin druid [circle of the shepherd]
Teddy Greenbottle, a lightfoot halfling sorcerer [cloud giant soul]
Lightstick Octopodes, a chicken-obsessed high elf barbarian who was raised by orcs  [is a homebrewed caster subclass that i cant remember the name of :v]
Hector West, a (???race unknown) warlock of Sseth [homebrewed pact; he’s nicknamed “snektor” as we suspect he’s a yuan-ti but his yuan-ti traits might be bc of his pact??? we have No Clue.]
We also had another guy, a tiefling invoker [homebrew class] named Hektor Greyfell,,, but he just got petrified into a jade statue and whisked away to some demon lord’s collection so!! yeah :’) his player’s going to be rejoining as a dragonborn forge cleric i think
[[theres also,, my dead character Kacharias Akti- a sea-elf/sahuagin warlock of Sekolah (homebrew pact o the deep one).. he got killed by a vamp and if my current character dies or gets whisked away, Kari will b back as a modified vampire spawn >:3c courtesy of his patron]]]
PARTY 3 [unnamed group o’ heroes. Homebrew campaign set in the “booma mountains’, a v australian setting :v]
“Bug” Birgitta Cobblersen, a (3! year! old!) goblin warlock of Y’dizel [great old one ;0 Y’dizel, or “mr fizzy” is the monster under her bed/her imaginary friend]
Qassiel, a cambion accursed [homebrew class based on the 7 deadly sins- her subclass is wrath]
Meri Calypso, a mermaid cleric of Trishina the Joyswimmer [tempest domain]
–and my dad’s just playing Shiro from voltron :’p who is an oath of devotion paladin that rides around on his summoned steed, who is a giant black lion.
[[The DM also has a sorta player character NPC in the party called Kettle, who’s an ochre dragonborn druid [circle of the lifesinger, a homebrew subclass] ]]
32. Most memorable NPC you’ve encountered in a game you played in.
i think my favourite NPC/the most memorable would have to be Scrungus;; who lives up to his name in every way possible. He’s a shopkeep that lives in this giant junkheap who is effectively just the scrungus meme;;  he looks like a humanoid version of This.
Tumblr media
stinky, grungy, scrungy shopkeep who weilds a stanley knife as a weapon that can stretch out to sephiroth type lengths and Beyond. He sells such goods as “eeling potions” [throw it on the ground to make some giant eels appear], “bullet sweaters” [it sweats bullets],  “frying carpet” [a flying carpet that heats up the longer you fly on it until it eventually is just On Fire], scrungus fungus [which grafts onto your body and gives you a chance of doing wildmagic– my goblin urchin’s pet vole has one on her head now and, among other things, has accidentally set of chain lightning with it that nearly killed my familiar],,, there’s so much more but essentially? he’s a wild ride and Im Love Him.
There are so many other great NPC’s in all the campaigns im in tho, especially shop keeps and some of the villains we get pit up against.
41. Give an out of context quote from one of your games!

Hi everyone,
I guess it’s never too late to wish you all a wonderful happy new year! Today, I’d love to take a moment to share my reflections on my best of 2018 travel. So, I am considering creating a series of posts in the upcoming weeks (YES! You read this. I am back to the grinds of writing and I am feeling super motivated) about sartorial-self editing and a follow up on continuing living my minimalist life.
The other day, a friend of mine who does not enjoy travel as much as I do recently asked me: ” What value does it bring to spend all your money in traveling so frequently?”
I paused for a brief moment and tried to recollect in my head all the countless unmeasurable benefits I gained from the experience of traveling. I’m thinking of adventures, freedom, and creating sweet memories with my favorite people. Mountains, road trips and singing cheesy songs in the car, big cities, beaches, lakes, wine country, night life, speak Spanish, fall in love… and so much more I mean where shall I begin…
Here are some advantages I can think of when it comes to why I value travelling as often as I can. To start with, there is an excitement and anticipation of planning a trip up front (read more about experientialism vs materialism post here). Looking forward to how we would imagine the journey. It gives room for creativity in deciding what activities to fill our days with.
Next, I learn to live more intentionally by pausing and being in the moment. I pay particular attention to small overlooked pleasures in life. I enjoy very much to be engaged with people in a genuine way by becoming a better active listener for instance when taking in to their stories. I experience more gratefulness. I like that my discovery mode is turned on (try new food, catch new sights, practice a new language sometimes, or embrace new cultures).
All in all, I find travelling to be important to me because it contributes to my self-improvement. All these reasons contribute towards my personal growth; my thoughts are influenced by a broader range of awareness of the world surrounding me, my habits are sometimes mimicking other’s cultural lifestyles, my learning is derived from my interactions with people and taking in their outlook on life, my beliefs are more grounded, and my thoughts are centered around creating a healthier and happier way of living. Let it be minimalism and zero waste lifestyle but these topics are worth detailing in separate posts.
Anza Borrego Desert/Julian, CA
After returning from my regular winter euro trip in the beginning of the year from Dresden and Paris, in February I went on a mini weekend road trip to Anza Borrego Desert. It’s only a two hour drive northeast of San Diego where I live and is located south east from Riverside and south of Palm Springs. The Anza Borrego Desert State Park isn’t too far from the Mount Jacinto Park where I hiked in the summer of 2017 (read here). It’s the largest park in California and has many wilderness areas as well as lots of hiking trails.
I picked the Palm Canyon trail where a minimum of climbing was involved (I love climbing!!!) and I was able to catch a sight at the primitive palm trees which are the tallest in California and are kept very wild and untrimmed. Down the oasis, I could hear from a far distance some buzzing sounds that resonated all around. As I was so curious to find out the origins of these croaks, I rushed down the river by climbing down the hiking trail in an off trail fashion (my adventurous side) to find some very cute tiny frogs under the rocks blending with the surroundings in the most perfect way.
All the climbing efforts were well worth! Then as the night quickly fell down, it’s how I got some very large and deep scars on my left forearm because I ran into a giant cactus on my way back up to the trail. Not very clever but I put the blame on my tomboy side! Later that evening on the way back to San Diego, a pit stop at Julian was required to have a taste of the well-known local apple pies and cider.
Los Angeles, CA
I drove to the city of angels and visited my friend Alexie (from UCLA) in the beginning of March as I needed to renew my passport at the French embassy. This was a two day trip but I really appreciated my time spent with her discussing various topics and you know just being women. Read more here where I talked about trying Tsukemen for the first time at Tsujita and a local’s brunch at Egg slut.
San Diego CRSSD FEST, CA
Processed with VSCO with b1 preset
This electronic, deep house, and techno festival is a traditional yearly thing I attend with my Persian buddies Arash and Massoud. Although I’ve tried to save a decent budget dedicated to music festivals for the year, I always seem to mess this up. But in any case, this is a sort of a mini Coachella and if you are in San Diego during March and September I recommend you guys to check it out because I like that it’s located by the waterfront and our dear Pacific Ocean.
Seoul/Busan, South Korea
In March, I was sent to South Korea for work (second time around and read first impression of the previous strip here). I stayed in Seoul and enjoyed this trip very much particularly as I didn’t end up having to do too much work at the customer site for once. But differently than last time, I decided to gather a team and explore South Korea away from the city center of Seoul. So we took the train to visit Busan.
Busan is a very large port city and is well known for its beaches, mountains, and temples. I enjoyed hanging out at the Haeundae beach with the young crowded locals and shot some fireworks. Later that night, the team composed of the new Dutch girlfriend Anne and another colleague, Robin who is Irish, went on bar hoping and met a friendly group of enthusiastic high energy good vibe young Koreans. We befriended right away with songs like Gangnam style and other classics.
We were then invited to a Karaoke bar and sung our heart out til about 8 am the following day. We actually made a reservation at a hostel nearby but needless to mention how pissed off the receptionist was as we had a very very very late check in that dragged her out of the bed. I know this was messed up but our new Korean friends helped us get to stay in to rest for the remaining duration of 2 hours, which was barely enough sleep but we needed to catch the train back to Seoul and I had to fly back afterwards.
The best part of this trip I think came from the idea that propelled me to go to Busan in the first place. The ultra fresh seafood and sashimi. I watched a documentary online where I saw a man trying to experience the “live” sashimi fish in Busan and choked on it. He became so red and almost died. I thought the idea of trying something so “fresh” would have made a fun challenge so I set my mind to experience it too at the Jagalchi Market, the world famous market for fresh fish and seafood. Robin and I got to try it but I barely survived. Personally though I wouldn’t do it again haha.
Another crazy experience was found at this local BBQ restaurant where I had fresh grilled eel for the first time ever. It goes without saying how painful that was visually and the taste was stringent. Have you ever eaten a whole eel? I’m not speaking of the little piece of eel that is place with a generous amount of Teriyaki sauce on the sushi but the whole fish. It’s so bony and crunchy towards the tail. I also would detail the part where the fish are taken from the aquarium then processed in front of your attentive eyes.
The cook knock the head of the eel using the back of the knife then begins to skin off the fish by removing the spinal column. The sound was draconian. The fish is then cut up into chunks. Later the pieces are laid on the plate ready to be grilled but the heads also come together. The visual still hurts me by just typing these lines but please skip this section if you are too sensitive sorry. As the brains were trying to pump blood through, and while Robin was devouring the body from the grill (personally I couldn’t do it), the mouth of the fish was left wide opened as a reaction to the loss of oxygen. I still remember vividly the horrified faces of the fish. In any case, this experience was quite unique but I’m still glad I got to see how life was like in Busan with the locals.
Saratoga/NYC, NY and Montreal, Canada
After my trip to South Korea, I was supposed to take some time off to stop by Japan to hang out with a friend I met during CRSSD fest but to my disappointment I had to fly straight away to New York for work again. This trip was rather unique because it’s where I met my crush there (blushing). But nothing surprising it’s just a crush and nothing more and you’ll read more about this Dutchie later 😉 Besides, work was very interesting there and the weather was ruthlessly cold with above the knee level of snow. Time working there was passing by so quickly as my best friend Mark (we work together) was also on site for work and we got to hang out a bunch.
In Albany we had Tanpopo Jakarta ramen. If you are curious about ramen, head over to my blog on ramen critic around the globe @ramencraycray. We ate at Vintage House and had interesting fried oyster sandwiches at Albany Ale & Oyster. We also hung out quite a bit in Saratoga Springs where we visited the Historic Congress Park to sip on the spring water. Had drinks at this hispter jazz playing live music at Morrissey’s and dined at the Wine Bar.
During this trip, I took the opportunity to drive to cross the border and visit Montreal. I had to make a pit stop at this gentleman’s house located in the beautiful town of Saratoga Springs. I met this older writer named Paul on the plane (yes for many of you who know me, I meet a bunch of folks on the plane and it’s not hard trust me!). We discuss many topics among writing and blogging as well as feminism and life in Paris compared with New York. We promised to give each other feedback from his book titled “Learning the Learner” while he reads my blog, this one.
He kindly invited me over to his house for breakfast along with a tour at the Spring Street Gallery which was a converted church located in front of his house. I had an immense pleasure in meeting his amazing awe inspiring wife Barbara (@blglaser5150). She is the woman I aspire to become when I get more mature. She has accomplished so much to become financially independent, in raising her Korean adopted daughter and her work in Natural State Park conservation, and now is a philanthropist. I was more than glad to have the chance to meet people like them and to share our stories. I felt so empower to continue my pursuit in advancing technology and to become as independent as she is someday. I also wish to further contribute to society just how she does it.
Ok so, now let’s talk about Montreal shall we? The road was very beautiful on my way there all covered in snow and I can easily glimpse at the mountain ranges during my three hour long drive. I stayed at Le Saint Sulpice hotel that was simply scrumptious located in Old Town. As I stepped out into town, I was clearly experiencing a wardrobe malfunction; I wore my long white Korean coat with a pair of jeans, a jumper, a beanie, scarf, and a pair of leather gloves. Evidently I froze to death within 15 minutes of walk in the blazing -15C.
So I rushed to the nearest neighborhood bar at the pub le Saint-Elisabeth. I met a new friend at the bar named Francois who was kind to show me locals spots around the well-known avenue du Mont Royal and had delicious poutine. The next day, I met up with my cousin who I haven’t seen in about 20 years (long time!!!) to catch up. We walked through the underground pass to go to the mall just like how the Quebecois shop to avoid peaking your nose out into the cold. She offered me some of the best ice wines ever. I feel very grateful!
On my last weekend there, I was meeting up with an old friend and together drove to NYC passing through the Lincoln tunnel. That was a hell of a lot of fun with lots of dancing, some ramen, and a copious amount of drinks and sightseeing. Make sure to read more about this city here.
West Coast Road Trip (Joshua Tree Park, CA/LA, CA/Big Sur, CA/Big Basin Redwood Park, CA/SF, CA/Newport, OR/Seattle, WA/Mt Adams, WA/Corvallis, OR)
In May, our birthday month, my sister (@dithy_f) from Paris and I got into my white Golf and drove along the USA West Coast. One of the best road trips ever yet! Read more here for part 1. Part 2 filled with more stories should be coming around soon so stay tune. In this case, I’ll skip here to the next trip below…
San Elijo Beach, CA
One of the best perks I enjoy about living in San Diego is that the county is so vast in its surface area that driving 30 to 40 minutes along the coast from where I live seems like a travel destination even though it’s technically still San Diego. We were camping there together with this really awesome girl Jenny (@nurse_jenny) (I met at a party and she had all the gut to just ask for my number and befriended instantly) and my friend Stephen (from work) who was set to take a year off to travel the world. I had an amazing weekend there grilling sausages and I even had some fun creating a beach bum beauty tutorial that can be found on my Instagram stories.
Ensenada/Tijuana, Mexico
I love spontaneous impromptu trips like this in the summer. Mexican friend Guerardo invited me over to tag along on his weekend getaway trip to Mexico. Singing along Felices Los 4 and Dura omg! We took the Ruta del vino to visit and wine taste at L.A. Cetto. We brunched at Bodegas del Valle, a secret local spot. We later that night played dominos then poker getting drunk on some tequila Reposado. The next day, we were beach ready to get some tan at Playa Hermosa in Explanadas. Afterwards, we had some of the best margheritas at Bar Andaluz and the best tacos ever are found at the world renown Anthony Bourdain approved Sabina Restaurante. Later, on our way back to the US, we had to stop by Tijuana where we got a roof top drink at Cine Tonala and played games.
Tel Aviv, Israel
During the summer, I traveled to Tel Aviv for the first time to visit my friend Tom. I know many of you already know how I met Tom and how I ended up in Dresden in the winter of 2017 but just for the sake of sharing with everyone. On my way to Amsterdam from Minnesota, I think that was in the summer of 2017 I happen to sit next to this blue eye guy with a quirky smile on this face. I think he started the conversation with an ice breaker question. So tips to you guys, if you are happen to sit next to a stranger on the plane and would like to make new friends, don’t put your headphones on, smile, and ask whether your flight neighbor is heading back home or visiting. This ice breaker question always works for me 🙂 So as we talked and laughed throughout our 8 hour long trip. We exchanged our contact information but before that he managed to convince me to meet again either in Tel Aviv and/or Dresden for the winter holidays.
And in truth eventually, I ended up meeting him in both cities haha. I flew to Dresden in December of 2017 from Paris because (this is a true story haha) my sister was too busy to host me during the weekday and (sadly) she is also a type A woman so she made it clear that I was on my own. Then I simply phoned Tom to check his whereabouts then booked a ticket at the airport from CDG, took the metro to Orly then flew to Dresden straight away. I actually don’t recommend anyone to fly that much in a day (4 back to back flights) but I’m still glad I made it out there. I stayed at Tom’s friend’s Matthias (a German cutie), and we got to visit the beautiful city (old and new neighborhood), did some thrift shopping as I was travelling without proper winter gears (got as scarf and beanie), and even attended an opera. The museums there were very impressive and boy I love the Christmas market to grab some warm German sweet bread, some wurst, and a sip of the delicious gluhwein (even gluhbier).
Well, I’m digressing now sorry so back to Tel Aviv! Tom and I stayed at another of Tom’s friend’s apartment nearby the beach in Yaffa area. Hillel is such a smart and funny guy. He’s very thoughtful too! I recall how before I’d get up in the morning, a warm freshly baked pastry was awaiting for me on the kitchen counter. He was temporarily being a dog daddy to Indie so I lucked out in meeting them because I had so much fun hanging out with these mischief later in the Old City. This vibrant place is full of craft shops and art galleries, and stalls selling antiques and jewelry at the lively Jaffa Flea Market.
There are some Ottoman influences such as the Clock Tower. We walked around and spotted an outdoor venue filled with folks dancing on Arab music after crossing the Wishing Bridge. The area is also popular for its hip wine bars, creative Mediterranean dining and seafood restaurants near Jaffa Port. There is such a wide mix of culture and we got together for drinks at the Shaffa bar with Stefania, her bf and friend. Well, how I met Stefania was also on a plane ride from JFK to Tel Aviv haha. We sat next to each and became friends instantly. And so we just had to meet up in town!
Then Hillel wanted to take us to his favorite secret spot that offers a unique view over the Jaffa port but on the opposite side. Recall when I called Hillel and Indie the little pair of mischief well, to get to that safely guarded spot required illegal climbing over a fence then a wall hmmm the challenge came from having our little four legged Indie with us but we still proceeded with climbing with the adventurous dog friend. It was so worth it as we could catch a glimpse in the quiet night and only hearing the waves crashing on the rocks and just taking in the beautiful sights and being in the moment.
I have a few tips on Tel Aviv for you guys if you are interested, drop a comment below. I personally really enjoy going to the outdoor markets like the Carmel market where Tom and I met up with another of Tom’s friend named Roy. He had bought some delicious cheese and we improvised a French picnic with a bottle of red (of course!) and laid around in the neighborhood park, while dog petting.
I only stayed 4 days in Tel Aviv and wished to road trip to Jerusalem but due to the unbearable heat wave, I’ll postpone this trip to another time. So next on my way to Amsterdam, I had a quick overlay in Rome. Unfortunately I couldn’t hang out with my dear friend Rita but had (yes another) interesting encounter on the plane. An older Italian gentleman who is a professor in Chemistry and avid alternative renewable energy especially in clean gas was my neighbor. He had mistaken me as a model haha. But to his disappointment I had to break it to him that I was just an engineer.
We talked for a long while about renewable energy and the new tech trends. Once we landed in Fuimicino, he kindly offer to continue our conversations over at the lounge. I personally love to converse with passionate folks. Side note by the way, a handful of people either border patrol agents or people I bumped into during my flights tend to believe I’m some model. Can it be because of my leather jacket, my casual effortless airport style or is it? Regardless, I’m utterly flattered but (shrugging) would love to know why…
Amsterdam/Eindhoven/Heusden, The Netherlands
I arrived in Amsterdam to meet up with Silvana (@saisonlune) the birthday girl. She’s taken me to the north of Amsterdam so we took the ferry where we can sight the beautiful A’dam Toren from Centraal Station. We had a snack at FC Hyena where it has movie theater and great food. The dcor is industrial but with lots of quirky colors. Afterwards, we headed next door to the Hotel de Goudfazant. This place used to be a car garage so don’t be surprised if you are dining next to cars inside the space.
The following day, I also got to meet Jessica from Daarboven and stroll around Amsterdam. We had a pit stopped at my fav Scandinavian shop Filippa K where I got a couple of essential garments (a nice cropped wool jacket and a pair of simple blue denim, read here).
We sipped on some fancy drinks at the Hoxtel lounge, grabbed ramen at Fou Fow Ramen then devour some explosive chocolate at the Michelin starred Duchess .
In Eindhoven, I always enjoy staying at my bestie Joffrey. I also took some time to say hi to Adri from Chanel. She created a new look for me and left with many goodies she gathered for me. In the afternoon, Jo organized a mini road trip to Heusden for a getaway. Walking around there was very relaxing to see the lashing green surrounding and the famous windmills. In the village we grabbed some red and some bread (I love Dutch breads). Later in the evening Jo and I met up with Yohann (our betstie) to grab an apero at his house.
Then we all met up with the other guys for Lepeltje Lepeltje, a food fest in Eindhoven with live music and yummy ice creams. Later than night we all hung out at our regular Irish pub Oshea’s where a few more people are set to come by. One person was the German cutie I was seeing on the date during lunch time at one of my fav brunch spot called Krok Madame. The other person was my Dutch crush and well needless to mention how melodramatic this all resulted and of course I’ve never intended anything as such to take place.
Chinon/Vendée Road Trip, France
It’s still summer and I was on my way to Paris now to get with my sister then we picked up my mom to go onto our yearly road trip. We stopped by the wine country region as always. I’ve notice my friends recently called me “Wine Privileged” and I am beginning to be more grateful from my upbringing and the fact that my parents’ house is located in one of the most amazing wine country region of France. And so we are in Chinon and visiting the Cave Monplaisirs.
The lady owner was formidable in presenting the wine selection with exquisite details of the terrain, the grapes provenance and mixes. This is how I get wine educated by going on a variety of wine tasting and having great conversations. She also kindly offered us an extra bottle (we had to keep it quiet on the gift haha) simply because she enjoyed sharing a great conversation too! We set up our picnic by the Loire river with great sight, a fresh summer breeze, and amazing wine paring (Les Picasses from 2016).
My sister and I rented a beautiful beach house in the Vendée region with a big pool by Saint-Jean-de-Mont beach. We had a lovely time with my mom swimming , BBQ, and just chilling in town. We did a bit of sightseeing but the best experience was going to the oysters’ market casually located in various parts of the roads there called le Délit. I believe to have found the best tasting oysters in my entire life! I stoke a conversation with the bar owner sharing with him my USA stories and then he pointed out that an LA designer was painting the walls of the place. Have a look as it’s pretty quirky. Another good time (yes it’s again about food) was going to Noirmoutier to bunch at Michelin starred or recommended restaurants like L’ilot Bleu. Next stop was a flower park (my mom is a lotus enthusiast) called the Parc Floral de la court d’Aron where we spent a day there having a little French picnic.
Paris, France
This city is always crazy and has the most fun parties. I hung out with the Parisian crew (a bunch of finance folks who prize on expensive champagne bottles. Yeah I know it’s just another life style) and caught up with Taler (@nomadicfille). We had ramen again but this time at Hokkaido.
The following day we went to the street food fest in Place République. Then, we headed towards the roof top at the Art et Métiers hotel. Needless to mention, there was a gorgeous view over the city of Light and the flashing Eiffel Tower but what caught my attention was this cutie sitting right next to me from another group of Parisians. We had a great conversation but I must be so naïve in too many ways, I didn’t realize he was a catch haha. But it’s all good we are friends on Instagram, does that count?
Los Angeles, CA
In September after getting back to San Diego, the following weekend I got on the road towards Vegas, the sin city. But I thought I’d stop by and say hi to my friend Alexie (if you don’t remember her, I had a post on LA here). We caught up over dinner, girls talk then the following day brunched at our favorite place in Abbott Kinney called Gjelina. A bit of window shopping but then it was time for me to get back on the road already.
Vegas/Valley of Fire Road trip, NV
Hanging out with Jo and catching up with his dad I haven’t seen in a couple of years was fun. In short, Fermont experience, losing money gambling, getting fancy drinks at the casino, and hiking in the heat of the Valley of Fire where we almost passed out. I recommend everyone who is passing by Vegas to go check out this out of the ordinary red-bricked landscape. It’s truly breath taking how arid the climate is but how the rock formations come together is pretty amazing.
Big Bear, CA
This road tripping to camping with Arash was in late September so it was indeed freezing cold. We were out of Vodka to keep us warm so in the process I lost my toes overnight for about 8 hours then recovered. The Castle Rock trail hike by Big Bear Lake was pretty intensive in climbing but the view we could catch on top was all worth it with a breathtaking forest views, rock structures, and a distant lake.
Lake Tahoe, CA
Next road trip was made during the thanksgiving holidays. It was very adventurous on the long drive there from San Diego to Lake Tahoe especially in the freezing night. Just had to pick up Massoud along the way in Orange County. As we approached the mountain ranges, we found out too tardily that the snow chains were undersized so we decided to simply deflate the tires in order to create more traction. (3 engineers getting together that’s how things go often!).
London, England
I haven’t been back since a couple of years ago so I was glad to stop by London in December and catching up with my dear Jackie (@passyjacqueline). What I retained the most from being there was experiencing Tinder dating together haha. I recall vividly on one of the bus rides in London City where Jackie and I were eye on out phones swiping left and occasionally right on the app then suddenly we heard 3 older gentlemen exclaiming right behind us “But you keep on swiping left!” hahaha I’ll omit the Brit accent but I couldn’t help than to crack up. It’s an observation that it seems everyone young and old men and women everywhere across the globe is searching for love though this dating tool.
I really enjoyed the low key local hangout (will do a map later if you are interested for I have some tips!) and art exhibits. We went to Blain Southern and checked out the “Between the lines” of Chiharu Shiota and the drawings of Jonas Burget. Indeed, I’d rather avoid doing tourist traps cos I just wanted to create memories being with my dear friend in the most humbling way. Some of the cool places I went to are Tonkotsu ramen, Oslo Hackney bar and club, Blighty Tottenham for brunch, Pop Brixton for the hispter hang out and drinks food hall style, Ace hotel in Shoreditch for a fancy drink at the lounge. For a nice walk I went to Borough market (my fav) and had tapas at Tapas Brindisa. Roof tops I went to Sushi Samba which offers a great view of the Gherkin. Lastly, Jaaguarshoes Collective is a local hang out for casual drinks.
Amsterdam/Eindhoven/The Hague, The Netherlands
Going to Holland is always about catching up with everyone. I also flew from London to Amsterdam as cheap as 37 euro that’s why I love travelling within Europe because of the ease of transport. I’m typically staying at Joffrey’s house in Eindhoven. We always cozy up on his velvet couch in the late evening watching our fav old French show Kaamelott. In the evening I had dinner with my old friend Alain who is half Dutch and half French. We checked out the new hot spot called Kazerne which had a lovely exhibit.
This time I was in Amsterdam meeting up with Jessica. We always have planned for me to go visit the museum where she works at but every time I’m arriving by train so late in the afternoon that I keep missing out. Bummer! However, we grabbed a local Thai food where there was probably 5 tables. It was so tiny but the food was good. We then intended to go for a quick shop to Filippa K (one of my fav shops) but it had already closed by 7 pm.
Next, we just continued strolling around what I find to be the romantic Amsterdam with the light exhibits on the canals. We grabbed some drinks at the Hoxton lounge (one of my fav places to go chill in Amsterdam), and then she insisted on grabbing another drink at a club I’ve never been to, which was ChinChin. There was a karaoke bar, restaurant, and club all in one place. I like catching the train back with her and just keep on conversing about life, our careers, blogging, shopping, personal style, and recently about our love life, dating, and relationships. Needless to mention how glad I am to have getting to know her.
The following day I caught an early train ride from Eindhoven to The Hague to grab brunch with the crew made of Kimberley, Silvana, and finally got to meet Sebastian. We chatted and laughed about everything at the local brunch names Bartine. It was good to see them all. Then afterwards, I had the honor to stroll around the Hague with Sebastian as my personal tour guide. He was showing me the old government buildings, describing the architectural styles, and the history behind them.
And it was already time to head back to Eindhoven to meet up for dinner with other friends. So the lovely Anne showed up with Joffrey. Unfortunately, my friend from work Sander (a Belge guy) and his wife couldn’t stay late into the evening as they have a little toddler to attend to so I only got to see them very briefly. The next day which was Saturday, Jo and I packed our bags, got into the car and set our GPS direction towards Paris to meet up with my sister for a late brunch.
Paris, France
Ahhh Paris is always my fav place in the world! Always crazy and fun at the same time with my lovely sis Britney and the Parisian crew. You probably may have noticed but I also avidly avoid tourristy areas there. I always prefer our local hang outs or discover new hot spots that most tourists are unaware of. We hung out in the newly trend food hall style La Félicita, had a bite and a few drinks then danced our night away.
We also celebrated New Year’s eve in our own terms. No rules nor tips to follow. We simply created our own way of having a great time. No overpriced club tickets bought online, no house party on our agenda. Remember that the best plan is no plan after all. We just walked up towards the Champs-Elysee then grabbed food and drinks at the Beer Station.
The area had been blocked off for the fire work show around the arc de Triomphe but we were located right at the edge of the landmark. Stayed warm, had food and cheering on red wine then champagne, watching the fireworks all in safety and warmth instead of mingling with the crowds on the Champs-Elysee avenue where it was counted that over 150,000 people attended the event. We took the party further towards Pigalle area at the Carmen club where we met the cutie barman Romeo who had a generous amount of dating advice to give away haha.
Unfortunately, I didn’t get much free time at hand to see the group of Paris girls (sorry! Next time for sure!) but got to do a quicky apero at Taler’s house. I got to meet her boyfriend, her cousin from the US, and her other friends. My sister later showed up too!
Tours, France
This was a truly special trip into the wine country of Loire Valley. Typically every time I visit my parents’ house in the Center of France, we’d stop by the neighboring area to go wine tasting and coming back home with boxes of a variety of wines. We are also very intimate with the wine makers of the region so it’s always a pleasure to say hi. But this time, I’d convinced my sister and our friend Aja to come along with me to visit the Tours region and meet up with Antoine at the Domaine de Cray.
It was a lovely wine tour into the sparkling white wine production, the famous Cremant de Loire, where he was showing us the art of riddling wine a la méthode Champenoise. He was showing up the assembly line with some level of automation for the first fermentation to take place where the natural sugar from the grapes are converted into alcohol and letting the carbon dioxide escape from the bottle and makes the base wine or the cuvée. It’s not usually very tasty as it is very acidic. Antoine showed us where these cuvée were stored in those large chambers and even had a sip of it together with the tuxedo cat who serves as great company. I recommend anyone to stop by this winery!
If you made it to read this line, well thanks for reading my stories. Let me know if you enjoy these narratives as much as I do or rather want tips for travel but either way don’t hesitate to drop a comment and I’ll look forward to your inputs.
