Not like super deep into tadc or anything, but I wanted to put in my 2 cents about Jax given the recent episode 4 and how his mask seemed to falter a bit. I do think theres a lot of different reasons for him being an asshole, but he kinda confirmed with how he said to Gangle, "I like you better when you're sad," and how much he antagonizes Ragatha that he hates masks. He derails adventures and social interactions into terror and upset intentionally because it's some of the only tangible emotion that he can recognize is real, and not some facade someones put up to retain their own sanity. The more he gets people to snap, or cry, or argue with him the more human they're being instead of going along with the story that's trying to keep them all complacent. I think hes a dick because he's annoyed by the fact that even when the rules are fake and their lives are over, so many of them are still masking and hiding their personal feelings about the situation they're all stuck in. He noticably picks on pomni, kinger, and zooble less—and out of the group, those 3 are the most honest about their emotions.

Tbh I'm a jikooker, but I find it incredibly difficult to fit a healthy long-term relationship into the same timeline as all of jimin's solo work. It's not the pronouns or taking one lyric very literally, its the entire thing, plus comments from him and his producers. To me, you'd have to do some serious olympic level mental gymnastics to make that make sense. I don't doubt that jikook have a special bond, I've definitely seen things between them that definitely look like sexual attraction to me and things that surpass friendship boundaries, but I can't in good faith say that they're together in some official long-term way if I actually listen to jimin and his work.

I've seen some jikookers think they broke up for a while, but I have to question if those people have ever been through a breakup because the little bit of distance/separation/awkwardness we did see from them during chapter 2 is nothing compared to the type of tension that would be there if a relationship that intimate and intertwined had separated, especially considering the dark feelings jimin was feeling. He wouldn't have been cutely commenting on jungkook's lives and jungkook wouldn't have been asking to hang-out or getting excited to see jimin in his comments.

Idk, I'm sure someone could twist everything a certain way and only take certain things at face-value and then make everything else abstract, etc. to make the case that they are together, but I don't really see it. You look at face-off, alone, and just his general dark feelings during Face, then look at the creation of Muse and how him and his producers said he couldn't relate to the love-dovey beginning songs, which is how they ended up making Who (despite the fact that jikookers try to distance him from the song since he doesn't have writing credits even though he sat in the recording room telling them what he wanted and saying it felt like reading his diary). I think jimin could have very well gone through a pretty awful breakup along with the inner turmoil he was going through post-covid, but I don't think it was with jungkook if he did. I still enjoy jikook's bond either way at the end of the day, but yeah I don't really get how anyone can take an honest look at jimin's work and his words and think he was in a long-term healthy love-of-his-life relationship during that time or into chapter 2.

What is it you love so much about Eiffel? Asking as a fellow Eiffel Lover, I'm just interested in your response!

i've been holding onto this one for a while, in part because i know there's no complete answer to this and i could probably just talk forever, but it's almost his birthday, so... in the spirit of dougmas:

what i love about eiffel as a character is that he feels like a real person. he's full of these very human contradictions: he's a coward, he can be exceptionally brave, he's considerate and thoughtful, he's got his head up his ass, he's a mediator by nature, he's frustratingly stubborn and will dig his heels in about the pettiest things, he's very technically capable, he's a master of weaponized incompetence. he's stupid in ways only a very smart person can be, and has a certain kind of self-hating self-centeredness. he has very firmly held morals and wants to do right by people, and he struggles to reconcile those beliefs with the unforgivable things he's nonetheless done; he has very real and serious flaws that the narrative doesn't flinch away from, but neither exonerates nor condemns him for. he's so entangled with the heart of the show, its themes and relationships, that you couldn't have wolf 359 without doug eiffel, and - as a friend of mine once said - if you put eiffel in any other show, he'd turn it into something resembling wolf 359 as well. and as gabriel urbina said about pan-pan: "he's the communications officer; without him, they stop communicating." he's a compassionate portrayal of an addict, and a very real and nuanced example of a kind-hearted man who's still used to thinking of himself as the "default" kind of person, and is still learning how to deconstruct the biases that come with that.

what i love about eiffel as a person is that he's someone i'd want in my life. he's a very sincere and emotionally honest person; he doesn't have hidden agendas, and you know exactly where you stand with him. he hates authority, he hates work, and he won't suck up or pretend otherwise - in fact, he'll create more work for himself if it means he can avoid doing his job, on principle. if he has a grievance about something, oh, you'll know. at the same time, he has this infectious enthusiasm about the things he loves, and the things that excite him, and he's a geeky guy into primarily 80s/90s nostalgic media who doesn't feel the need to gatekeep. i love his voice, i love how expressive he is, i love how you can hear the same mannerisms you can see in the live show just in the very open-body-language way he emotes. he has a very distinct former class clown type of energy, and i think that goes hand in hand with an underlying loneliness. he can be pretty clueless, he speaks before he thinks and has chronic foot-in-mouth disease, but… doug eiffel is the kind of person who would notice if someone was standing alone in the corner at a party, and would go out of his way to make them feel included. he's good at getting people to open up, even if it's in spite of themselves, even if it's while they're rolling their eyes at him. he's a staunch pacifist who - even when things piss him off - doesn't react to conflict with violence or threats of violence, and he can't stand to have things stay bottled up: if there's one thing eiffel wants everyone to do, it's talk about it. whatever it is. he has a good balance of traits that make him feel genuine and warm without coming across preachy or suspiciously softened; he's also very much still a gross dirtbag with a lot of annoying flaws typical of some average guy, and that's a huge part of his appeal to me. he's good with his hands. he likes building stuff and taking things apart. he's rough around the edges in ways that reflect his life experience, and he's just… a guy who has lived a life, who has a lot of life experience, but hasn't made a lot of true friends in the process. he's gotten used to being lonely, and gotten used to telling himself he's fine with it, and something in me really aches for that.

his birthday is a good - and timely - example: he's a man in his 30s still holding onto childhood hurt, having his birthday forgotten and overshadowed by christmas. i'm also a christmas hater, so it's nice to have something else to celebrate and prioritize, and i like imagining his disgust at all of the unavoidable holiday trappings; it makes me feel less alone. i wouldn't say i relate to eiffel, more that i feel we have compatible issues, and it's not a secret that he's the type of guy i find attractive. he feels like a real person that i already know and love, and at the same time he's representative of the kind of person i'd like to know, like his life would fit comfortably into mine.

“I'm sorry, WHAT?!” Jimin, who’d been slouched on the couch with his head leaning against its rolled arm, sat up straight and goggle-eyed as soon as he heard what Yoongi had said.

The latter only rolled his eyes, not surprised one bit at his friend’s dramatic reaction. In fact, he expected it to be so much worse, but he guessed the younger one was just too tired that day for all of that. “don’t be loud.” he hissed and crossed his arms.

“hyung, are you serious?” Namjoon asked from where he was sitting with his chopsticks hanging in the air near his mouth as he too was stunned by the eldest’s statement.

“why the hell would i lie and say that me and __ have been dating for almost two months now?” Yoongi muttered through narrowed his eyes. "TWO MONTHS- woah, this is crazy. I can’t believe you didn’t tell me.” The youngest of the three covered his face with his hands and heaved a big, disappointed sigh.

“Seriously, why is he so annoying today?”

Namjoon chuckled as the older continued side eyeing their dongsaeng, “hyung, he’s just really happy for you. I too am.”

It's true, Jimin was a man on a mission ever since he’d noticed the insanely similar character traits when you and your (now) boyfriend met for the very first time. two individual human beings but the exact same patterns and edges. on a large scale, talking to you always felt like talking to Yoongi and vice versa.

It was like a game to him. It made him buzz with excitement, reminding himself every now and then to keep a close eye and count all the similarities you two shared. not that it was hard to notice to begin with: having almso the exact same taste (especially in music), always sitting silently when being around other people and speaking little amounts of words when necessary, getting flustered and smiling shyly when being complimented, being chill and too soft to scold or yell at anyone (most of the time), having that same slow tone in your voices whenever you talk, having random bursts of energy or playful teasing despite the cold facade both of you display, getting so talkative when it comes to topics and things you’re so passionate about, being very honest but never too rude or offensive about it, being the most hardworking people jimin has probably ever met in his entire life—something that nevers fails to admire about the two of you.

You and Yoongi were so similar, even your bad habits and red flags matched. I personally think you'll never get any absolute truth from song lyrics because some of it is personal, some of it is cryptic, some of it is purely for the art and rhyme, some of it is from other people and so on and so on.

I'm in no way dismissing his story and what he conveyed in his albums but it being an indicator for what Jikook is or isn't (or that Jimin went through a breakup or period of not having a significant other), is not plausible to me especially when you compare it with everything that we saw happening with their relationship (or with Jimin) in those years.

Because at the end of the day the magic and ambiguity of lyrics is that in many ways some things are up for interpretation. Just as you think that those lyrics can't mean anything but a bad breakup and him not being in love at all, someone else will think of it as him being in love (muse) while making stylistic choices and him being in a bad place mentally (face) but with a hint of hope while also choosing to not rely on anyone around him for some time.

incredibly hot (well, maybe not amongst Jeremy fans but OH WELL lemme preach to the choir) take but: i find the way Jeremy is talked about his ex Succession co-stars these days so very obnoxious. Why should we or anyone care about his "method"? I watch him act fantastically on my tv screen, that alone is a joy for me, and his interviews show he cares a lot about his craft. To be too cool for school and shrug everything off is also its own method actors go about what they do - and lemme tell you, I find that so much more embarrassing than someone who might use flowery language, quote European intellectuals, and perhaps do like hearing themselves talk - the latter is pretty universal.

As a whole, idc if an actor is annoying in that sense, because I don't have to coexist with them (besides, I do know people who are indeed annoying in that way - some of them are my friends). Do they entertain me, cause me to feel emotion, will I be in awe when watching them work? If the answer to all of that is yes, then I like the actor. As long as they're not confirmed to be harrassing their castmates (or anyone at all), a creep who endangers them, or a genuine bigot, I truly DGAF. Unlike Brian Cox, apparently, who openly backs actors known to be domestic abusers and/or rapists. Plus, can't recall the last time various people have roasted Daniel Day-Lewis like that over his method... 🤔 (also: I could die very happily if I never have to hear that goddamned Laurence Olivier quote to Dustin Hoffman ever again)

Kieran's cheap shots also didn't exactly endear me to him - even though I think he's a great actor and I will see A Real Pain when it comes out in theatres here. But hm, let's just say that I am actively rooting for him to lose when he goes up against Jeremy in the Best Supporting Actor category and to also lose as Best Leading Actor if he ends up in that category when Jeremy loses in Best Supporting.

For me one thing is true - when I watched second season of Succession, there was something in Kendall that tore me apart. I really felt his emotions and I haven't experienced that ever before watching TV show. It was so surprising, but also excilariting. And then, later, I learned how Jeremy Strong has approached creating Kendall's character. It became clear to me that the realness of the emotions came from a very deep place of the actor, the person. To think that someone was ready to go that far for the role (he said it led him to some very dark places and that he has lost feeling of joy) makes you look at the whole craft differently.

I love how serious and thoughtful he is in describing his work, it's something so rare these days. Jeremy always says that you need to be brave and do things that scare you, and that's how he lives, and it's very inspiring.

I also agree that Kieran acts like he's just a guy who comes to do "whatever", and it's actually ironic, because from what he describes he does a lot of things similarly to Jeremy - he didn't want to rehearse in A Real Pain and he mentions that he let the Benji character act out, like he didn't know what would happen, how he would behave. That's exactly what Jeremy did while filming Succession.

It's clear that someone's process might be difficult for other actors, but from what I gather, Jeremy mostly kept to himself and was isolating, so I don't think it was such a big burden for them, other than a fact that it probably created tensed atmosphere, but on the other hand - Kieran and Sarah are best buds (she's a godmother of one of his kids) and Brian talks fondly of both of them, so they're good. The only one left out is Jeremy (not counting Alan Ruck, sorry Con), that's the choice he made and he seems to accept it.

For me the best proof of Jeremy's grace and thoughtfulness is the fact that he never reacted to Brian Cox's cheap shots; he literally said that he admires him when asked about his comments.

As to the awards, I watched A Real Pain and it's a good movie, but as a Succession freak I must say that Kieran performed Benji character in a very similar way to how he portrayed Roman, this guy is just more open about his feelings. I'm surprised it wasn't noted in any reviews, but maybe it's just me. I think Kieran might win with Jeremy because he's more liked in the industry, but for me, trying to be as objective as I can, the performance of Jeremy in 'The Apprentice' is just leaps and bounds superior to that of Kieran's in 'A Real Pain'.

I know it doesn't need saying that Reborn is a good teacher, the series points that out to us multiple times really coming to a full realization through Bermuda who connected that these kids growth was related to Reborn. It's really hard to summarize just how true that is to the series, because there are so many little moments and big moments alike. He's both stood as a background character, letting these kids grow of their own accord and make their own decisions, and also a main character directly stepping forward and helping them when they need it. Truly and wholeheartedly, he loves those kids and does put effort into them and learning who they are as people and what helps them best. The Vongola Kids and Reborn are a special pair and though Reborn isn't Vongola, that hasn't stopped him from going affectionate. He truly loves those kids. I wanted to list a few moments that are like important to me with those kids, excluding Tsuna for length purposes but also because the series is its own case study of Tsuna and Reborn's relationship. (Maybe another post someday tho!)

Starting in no particular order, with Lambo, the thing about Lambo and Reborn's relationship is that its mostly antagonistic in that gag sort of way. See though, Reborn is always the first person to remind Tsuna of who Lambo is. To remind him that IS his Guardian and he should be taken seriously. He is the one to remind Tsuna during Future Arc that Lambo was trying to hold it together and not complain too much even though he misses Nana and the one who tells Ryohei how to 'activate' Lambo's hidden potential by mentioning Nana. Something especially important for me as well is that scene in Shimon where Reborn goes "I shouldn't have brought him here." and Lambo has that whole I'M the one who wants to come with you all. There's a frame where Reborn has the most smug little smile, as if he predicted this outcome all along. And idk yall, he's!! he's watching these kids!!

For Gokudera, he doesn't mentor him personally at any point in the series but he does always choose mentors for him that really highlight the areas he needs to improve in. Shamal for his self-preservation, Bianchi with his feelings of worth, Fon for his impatience and reckless behavior. Something especially important to me about their relationship is that Reborn and Gokudera in daily life got each others backs LOL. They raid longchamp's house together and Reborn does like to tease Gokudera and prank him as much as he likes to do it with Tsuna. Something about Gokudera gets Reborn going, gets that mean streak of his forward. That's just his funny guy.With that being said, he does!! care about him!! In future arc, he often goes around checking on everyone to make sure things are going okay. To be a little more serious with it, I think it's really enjoyable that Reborn happens to pick people to be his tutors that Gokudera personally has beef with or would agitate Gokudera. I think in a way he knows that Gokudera grows best when he's challenged, and being with people he respects (Tsuna, Reborn) doesn't serve him as much as making him acknowledge outright where his weakpoints are.

SO YAMAMOTO, RIGHT. YAMAMOTO IS ACTUALLY JUST REBORNS FAVORITE IF YOU NOTICE. ITS NOT EVEN FUNNY. THIS IS HIS FAVORITE CHILD. TSUNA WHO?? The way he just jumps off of Tsuna's shoulder to get onto Yamamotos.. cmon.. at least hide..tsuna adores you.. (There's even a scene in Daily Life where Yamamoto is like petting Reborn and Reborn is just looking at him with a "c:" and Tsuna GRUMBLES TO HIMSELF ABOUT HOW IF IT WAS TSUNA TOUCHING HIM HE WOULD HAVE ALREADY BEATEN HIM UP) Sort of going off from how Gokudera is also lowkey always being pranked by Reborn, Yamamoto isn't and my friends and I kinda realized Reborn.. likes the idiots. He's a fan of the dumbasses. He's so nice to Yamamoto and Ryohei, while making clowns of the smart ones or bullying the 'annoying' ones. OKAY, but really. Reborn's recruited most of the Vongola kids into the family, Yamamoto being his pride and joy when it comes to that. He has that really funny moment in Varia arc where hes all 'Aren't I amazing for being the one to find Yamamoto? ^-^" He also is in charge of training Yamamoto for a little bit of Future arc too, and he establishes to the audience that Yamamoto is a natural born hitman. I think it's also fun that during their training too, he motivates Yamamoto by telling him that if he can complete his training and keep his carefree smile (someday I'll have to do a post about Reborn and his relationship with the Mafia as a whole bc ahh!!) he'll tell him his secret. He sort of activates this kind of like hidden competitiveness IN Yamamoto by doing that and ensures he brings it up throughout the training and gives little hints of 'Before I was a baby - Ah, I shouldn't have said that." It's a little bit of lighthearted taunting too. Or when Yamamoto is knocked down, he tells him that he's doing good, and Yamamoto's like "Yeah right, I bet you're not even trying." Also, a little small interaction that might even go unnoticed is when Yamamoto is attacked during Shimon and Tsuna gets that phone call. The whole time Reborn is quietly questioning "What's wrong? Did something happen to Yamamoto?" "What's his condition?" and then he tells Tsuna he'll head in first (Which honestly I believe is more of a Tsuna/Reborn thing than Yamamoto/Reborn thing, he probably wanted to spare him having to see whatever condition Yam was in but its fair enough to note. He also is the one that goes and investigates the locker room where Yam was attacked to get things started. He's sweet on the guy.

(FYI? WHY DO MY YAMAMOTO SECTIONS ALWAYS END UP THE LARGEST?? ITS NOT ON PURPOSE OR FAVORING IT JUST HAPPENS THIS WAY.) In terms of Ryohei, there's this sort of mutual respect thing going on. Don't get me wrong, he thinks the guy is a dumbass khjnkhj but he is always more than happy to play along as 'Master PaoPao' and he put thought into who would be good for Ryohei as a mentor. He chooses someone like Colonello (a dumb himbo just like him-) to train him and there's an undeniable pride in him in Future Arc when he sees TYL Ryohei where he tells him that he's really matured over the years. I believe Ryohei was also somebody that Reborn personally wanted to recruit into the Vongola family, seeing his potential from the beginning.

Hibari.. Oh, Hibari. Reborn knows exactly how to play Hibari, that's the Vongola's secret weapon. He gets Dino to train him, someone who can keep up with the exponential growth and the need for the training to be battling bc otherwise how else are you gonna prank this gremlin into getting stronger for the team. And that fucking um promise that Hibari will get an opportunity to battle him? Never happens, he just fucking lies to Hibari. By the time it may be plausible, Hibari is more focused on his real rivals, the other Vongola Guardians and the boss. ('This team is full of people who I really want to bite to death' 'Someday even the sky will be beaten to death' 'Mukuro's my prey') But I don't think the relationship between Hibari and Reborn is inherently Reborn manipulating our battle freak. Similar to Ryohei and Reborn, there's a quiet respect. There's that scene in Future arc, where Reborn goes 'I missed you, Hibari<3" and TYL hibari just smiles at him and goes, 'Same here, baby' like those two are!! pals!! In general, I think Hibari is a good example of Reborn's adaptability with these kids as it takes a certain kind of energy to ..deal with Hibari.

Chrome!! There's not a lot of Chrome and Reborn scenes, but the ones there are really sweet. He does check up on her pretty often when she's sick during Future arc as well as while she's training with Bianchi. The really important scene between them is the one that happens during Rainbow arc where he understands that her issues regarding Mukuro being free. You see something really fun about Reborn is that he's pretty good with guiding someone to their answer rather than answering it for them. In this moment, and the moment that catches Bermuda's attention, is the fact that all he had asked her was what she wanted to be to in relation to Mukuro. This helped her steady herself and allowed her to enter the battle, which ultimately protected them against Vindice. And that's so special to me, because it was the final push for Chrome to wrap up her arc about her conviction and her resolution of her own accord and it came from our delightful tutor. I think Chrome is our example of Reborn's job being to make Tsuna into Vongola Tenth results in more than just focusing on Tsuna. (The others too of course are examples of this!) ALSO DO YOU EVER THINK ABOUT THE FACT THAT HE VISITED HER IN THE HOSPITAL TO HELP HER AND ALSO ASKED HER TO BE HIS REPRESENTATIVE AFTER HE HEARD HOW SHE RESPONDED? UGHHH. Reborn..Chrome...

LAST BUT NOT LEAST, Mukuro! So Mukuro's relationship with Reborn is lowkey interesting to me sdkjhn. First of all, its implied that Mukuro knows about all the arco stuff in Kokuyo arc. As he calls Reborn an arcobaleno like it's a slur OTL. He also has his reservations about the way Mukuro comes to gain his powers, again Kokuyo when he called him a monster. During Varia arc, Reborn tells Tsuna that he should never forget what Mukuro had done to them previously. A sentiment he seemed to soften over, as TYL Mukuro aided in ending the war on Milefiore. By Shimon, they have a pretty funny interaction where Reborn catches Mukuro as an owl and then promptly kicks him after Mukuro was rude to him dhjkn. It all ends up becoming a thing where Reborn can understand where Mukuro comes from when it comes to his odd cold actions regarding Chrome. In a way, understanding that he too was trying to help Chrome. And I will never ever forget that moment where at the end of Kokuyo, WHERE REBORN SPOTS MUKURO HAVING POSSESSED SOMEONE AND COMMENTING THAT HE MUST BE LONELY AND IF HE WANTS TO PLAY AGAIN THEY'LL DO SO ANYTIME. yall.... mukuro do it. just admit that you're vongola........ Mukuro never makes his loneliness obvious, but with his upbringing it makes sense.. the way he never uses his teammates even though he acts like they're just his tools..god..Reborn sees through him and so do we..

HJEKDHN Not much of an analysis this time as just me listing my favorite moments between Reborn and the other Vongola kids.. Another long one.. I Need to make shorter posts yall.. ok ok ok. a post about josh, buck, and maddie at dispatch as promised. (and because i dont feel like writing a whole separate post or repeating myself etc, if im pointing something out as evidence for my autistic josh headcanon, it'll be in parenthesis like this) also this is long because im going basically line by line in some places so just be prepared for that and such.

the first thing i wanna say before anything else is that like... as far as how this conversation fits into the larger narrative, i was fairly disappointed, due to the way that including this scene like this is kinda implying that the racism was fine because of being closeted etc. HOWEVER. luckily for my sanity it is pretty clear that from a character perspective, that's not at all what's being said by josh himself here, and we can be pretty certain that he is not aware of tommy's past behaviors. in fact he has almost no facts or context about the situation, which i'll get into later.

now that the disclaimer is out of the way, im gonna move onto character analysis and will not be touching on what i think the narrative might have meant etc. any further. like this is going to be purely talking about character dynamics and dissecting the dialogue etc.

we start out right away by skipping all the exposition right into a hard cut of maddie reacting to the news that tommy and abby were engaged. LOVE this set up we get right into the important part quickly and we as the audience only have to hear information that is new to us, not the information being repeated back to the character for whom the information is new.

and oh maddie. i love you so bad. she's like DAMN thats crazy, and then makes the obvious turning people gay joke. her energy here is sooo like it didn't make sense until looking at it in retrospect, but she's shocked and invested yet not taking it very seriously as a concern for buck, because well, she's having a baby and this is objectively not that serious comparatively <3 but i do love that she sees buck's reaction and quickly reins it in and is like woah im kidding im not actually being homophobic holy smokes. which. it kinda still is a little. but i think she's allowed <3

and then... josh enters the scene. he apparently only walked in as buck was saying "-kissed a boy" so of course he had to be like huh? gay shit? something gay? boys?? what's going on over here? and i love that for him. and i love that maddie immediately is like oh hi bestie i catch u up to speed on the tea <3 the maddiejosh bestieism is so back we never lose <3 and that fact that she's like. feeding in the facts in a way to dramatically amp up the tale i love it. she really said man the things my baby brother gets himself caught up in are wild.... anyway <3 true sibling behavior is finding the perfect balance between being supportive and being so so annoying <3

and she is supportive still. like when it becomes clear that there's something deeper going on here she does try to help him work through it. and its so interesting to me the way she is sort of seriously contemplating his words and is shocked when josh not only speaks up but is being very serious and equally focused on the problem at hand. it's like... she's trying so hard to figure out how to help her brother with something she doesn't fully understand that having someone else speak up to help them kind of shocks her and boy does that say something about their lives and the buckley sibling dynamic!

side note, the way josh is jokingly like "she didn't bring her personal life to work, unlike SOME people" and maddie's little look of mock offense?? they're so cute i cant handle it.

i also really love how the shots are framed during this conversation. at first, even when she's not talking and is just listening to josh talk, maddie is still in frame, we're still getting her reaction, she's an active participant in what's going on. and then there is the one shot where she's talking and josh is out of frame, hidden by buck, because whatever reaction he might be having isn't important, it's a buckley sibling moment. (he's not an active participant at that point; he's entirely observing and reacting and gathering information, not dictating the direction of the conversation whatsoever.)

it's only when josh gets very serious and it starts to turn into a heart to heart moment just between him and buck that maddie is allowed to leave the frame. it still goes back to her in very brief cuts when her reaction is relevant, but she steps back out of focus and let's josh handle the conversation. and i love that so much. thank GOD someone else is helping buck sort out his problems that isn't his parentified sister or just generally someone more marginalized than him. it was kind of getting irritating to watch, as much as i love buck so much. like dude... the emotional labor. watch it.

and man. this conversation guys. everything about it makes me an insane crazy person. ive already mentioned this in the tags of some other posts but like... its so fascinating because on the surface it is such a cohesive conversation, but when you really break it down and analyze both of their expressions and body language alongside what they're saying, you can start to see the cracks in it. what one of them is saying is not what the other one is hearing, in both directions. they are having two different conversations and i think it's critical to analyze both of those conversations and how they are interacting with each other. what josh says, what josh hears, what buck says, and what buck hears are four entirely separate things happening alongside each other.

the first part is josh trying to get a sense for how serious this relationship is to buck. when buck falters at the question of "do you love him?", he elaborates with follow-up questions that, to josh, define "love" or close enough to it. answering "yes" to those questions is close enough to a "yes" to the question of "do you love him?".

(which. ok. the particular choice of questions makes me insane because they do essentially boil down to "do you prefer this person to solitude and grant them an equal or greater importance to yourself?" which is sooo... it's said from the point of view of someone who greatly values their solitude and would not easily grant someone that level of importance.)

unfortunately, well, buck is NOT someone who greatly values his solitude, and puts other people before himself quite easily. buck would answer "yes" to those questions for basically anyone. josh does not know or understand this about buck and takes buck's answers at face value, while buck is taking this as sort of... it's hard to explain, and i think others have done a better job of capturing buck's perspective already tbh. he's convincing himself that he loves tommy here because josh is unknowingly handing him that information and expectation, and buck loves to mold himself to fit an expectation etc.

and then comes the second part, which... i think this is where it is most critical to realize that josh has none of the context about tommy, abby, and buck and those respective relationships. by his own admission, he didn't really know much about abby or about her breakup with tommy beyond the fact that it was upsetting. he didn't hear the way tommy talked about abby to buck at dinner, and he definitely didn't get to see any of the real fallout and damage to her psyche that tommy leaving her caused.

but buck did! im not inclined to rewatch s1 to get any exact quotes or anything but from what i remember, she either outright said or implied that she was so heartbroken because tommy left her because of her mother's illness. buck is understandably very upset because he understands exactly what she went through and how, unless abby was lying to not out him, he didn't exactly come clean with the breakup, and left her feeling like it was her fault, like there was something wrong with her or she was being weighed down by caring for her mother. he calls tommy's behavior exactly what it is: dishonest and cruel.

but josh doesn't know this. all he is hearing is a young, freshly out bisexual calling a gay man "dishonest and cruel" for having been engaged to a woman for his own protection. and he responds exactly how you'd expect! he reminds him of queer history and the fact that he doesn't really have a right to judge the people who grew up and had to survive in a world that was much less safe to come out in.

(and i said in my other post that's still doing numbers that "pre-Glee/post-Glee" is an actual queer discourse talking point and makes sense that it'd be used here, as awkward and cheesy as it seems, but it's also a win for my television/film/popular media/hollywood culture/etc. as a special interest headcanon. <3 we love to see it)

and it kills me because of course buck is just going to take this at face value and decide he needs to stop feeling the discomfort he's feeling, leading to the subsequent doubling down and over committing that is typical of his unhealthy relationship patterns.

(and then at the end of the speech josh has to literally announce that he's leaving DSJFHJKDSKJ. because walking away/ending conversations is so awkward and difficult and the easiest way to mitigate that is to lean into the Dramatic Homosexual Stereotype mask or whatever <3 i've long been of the opinion that josh is someone who uses the behaviors associated with queer men and queer masculinity as the blueprint for his neurotypical mask, which is why he often comes across as being just a little bit off from the Funny and Bitchy Gay vibes that it seems like he's going for. and boy did his exit from this scene just reinforce that headcanon so hard!)

they wrap the scene with a little bit more levity too which is kind of nice to like. move on from that. because it got kind of heavy there for a second.

overall i do like what this scene accomplished, but like i said at the start, i think it has some really unfortunate implications that weigh it down for me. still, always nice to get more josh content, especially when it's pretty consistent with his character as established AND not at all related to doing his job. we got to see him and maddie being goofy and maddie being allowed to let someone else deal with buck's problems for a second. and the whole thing was very well shot! excellent camera work going on throughout.

i don't actually know how to end this post so yknow. im gonna make a dramatic exit now or whatever <3

Tbh I'm a jikooker, but I find it incredibly difficult to fit a healthy long-term relationship into the same timeline as all of jimin's solo work. It's not the pronouns or taking one lyric very literally, its the entire thing, plus comments from him and his producers. To me, you'd have to do some serious olympic level mental gymnastics to make that make sense. I don't doubt that jikook have a special bond, I've definitely seen things between them that definitely look like sexual attraction to me and things that surpass friendship boundaries, but I can't in good faith say that they're together in some official long-term way if I actually listen to jimin and his work.

I've seen some jikookers think they broke up for a while, but I have to question if those people have ever been through a breakup because the little bit of distance/separation/awkwardness we did see from them during chapter 2 is nothing compared to the type of tension that would be there if a relationship that intimate and intertwined had separated, especially considering the dark feelings jimin was feeling. He wouldn't have been cutely commenting on jungkook's lives and jungkook wouldn't have been asking to hang-out or getting excited to see jimin in his comments.

Idk, I'm sure someone could twist everything a certain way and only take certain things at face-value and then make everything else abstract, etc. to make the case that they are together, but I don't really see it. You look at face-off, alone, and just his general dark feelings during Face, then look at the creation of Muse and how him and his producers said he couldn't relate to the love-dovey beginning songs, which is how they ended up making Who (despite the fact that jikookers try to distance him from the song since he doesn't have writing credits even though he sat in the recording room telling them what he wanted and saying it felt like reading his diary). I think jimin could have very well gone through a pretty awful breakup along with the inner turmoil he was going through post-covid, but I don't think it was with jungkook if he did. I still enjoy jikook's bond either way at the end of the day, but yeah I don't really get how anyone can take an honest look at jimin's work and his words and think he was in a long-term healthy love-of-his-life relationship during that time or into chapter 2.

Not trying to change your opinion or anything, honestly I don't really see it discussed much in jikooker spaces (besides bad-faith stuff like tkkers stirring up shit over pronouns in lyrics which is just dumb) and when it is, some jikookers are pretty pick-and-choose about what they deem to be true to jimin's feelings and what isn't. Which I get being nuanced, but sometimes it does feel like a "well this fits my beliefs so clearly this is true to jimin and this doesn't so it means nothing because he didn't write it" or whatever. I honestly get annoyed with the bad-faith arguers because it prevents being able to have actual discussions about some of this stuff in our little jikooker corner of tumblr. Like "he said her, he's clearly straight! he danced with a girl, straight!" stfu.

I agree that what came up with MUSE really surprised me. It was not what I anticipated at all. But some little details makes me think it's not all black and white (Like Jimin's comment about us getting it wrong). To me Face was a more personal album for sure. But both albums do not personally deviates me from my belief that jikook are a couple.

Face was very introspective and made with a very strong creative vision. To me this is Jimin's masterpiece. I'm sure he put a lot of himself in this album. But what did he put in the end of the album, as a HIDDEN track? Jungkook. It wasn't for public eye, yet he still put a bit of him in it. To me, this is very telling.

Jimin is not the type to reveal his private relationship to the world. It's simply not his style. But as Face was very personal, Letter featuring Jungkook sits at the end, hidden, yet apparent. It shows his connexion with Jungkook is VERY close to his heart.

But he didn't have to scream it everywhere in his album, or any other album for that matter. Even if Jungkook is very important to Jimin, that's not all he has in his life. Like everyone he has his own struggles and such. I think it can be very difficult to interpret art "correctly" when we don't have all the information. Jimin had a vision for both Face and Muse, but creating art does not mean leaning on reality 100%. Art does not come only from personal experience. People can write songs as concepts that have nothing to do with them. Of course there's always something from the creator, but personally I wouldn't feel confident basing my belief in jikook's relationship on a few songs. Because the interpretation can be so vastly different from a person to the next, we'll never know what Jimin's true intentions were at the end of the day. We can guess but that's it.

What I am very confident in, is what we have actually observed and heard from their own mouth; conversations and attitudes and body language and many proofs of a very deep connexion that jikook have. That's reliable. Art is not.

The little doubts that one can infere doesn't take away my feelings about the thousands other things we know. One is about not knowing and one is about witnessing and observing and understanding not with the mind but with our hearts.

AYS was once again a very apparent confirmation of everything we knew.

I do not think jikook broke up at any point in chapter 2 despite being maybe separated a little more physically for a while.

So I understand your point anon, but personally a few songs won't change 10 years worth of moments, of life they spent together for me. Actions always speak way louder than words. But of course it's always interesting to talk about each other's interpretations.

Oscar and Y/n were enjoying day three of seven in Portugal , the weather had been great the whole time they'd been there . Well that was until they planned to actually go somewhere and then it rained cats and dogs , but when you're a young couple in love nothing can put you in a bad mood

The pair couldn't stop giggling as they tried to either find some tree to hide under or a hideaway to duck under until the rain stopped

There's a glow off the pavement

Any oil that had leaked onto the pavements before the northern downpour were displaying all the colours of the rainbow as it mixed with the rain water , which made for a pretty sight

You walk me to the car

Oscar was in more of a rush to get to the rental car , probably due to his expensive clothing, practically dragging her

"C'mon baby we're gonna get soaked if you don't hurry up" he basically pleaded as he turned to look back at her

"It's only rain oscar, it's not going to kill you" she said with a laugh

As they approached the quaint Mini Cooper they had rented opting for a car that wouldn't stand out unlike the McLaren's he was used to

Tbh I'm a jikooker, but I find it incredibly difficult to fit a healthy long-term relationship into the same timeline as all of jimin's solo work. It's not the pronouns or taking one lyric very literally, its the entire thing, plus comments from him and his producers. To me, you'd have to do some serious olympic level mental gymnastics to make that make sense. I don't doubt that jikook have a special bond, I've definitely seen things between them that definitely look like sexual attraction to me and things that surpass friendship boundaries, but I can't in good faith say that they're together in some official long-term way if I actually listen to jimin and his work.

I've seen some jikookers think they broke up for a while, but I have to question if those people have ever been through a breakup because the little bit of distance/separation/awkwardness we did see from them during chapter 2 is nothing compared to the type of tension that would be there if a relationship that intimate and intertwined had separated, especially considering the dark feelings jimin was feeling. He wouldn't have been cutely commenting on jungkook's lives and jungkook wouldn't have been asking to hang-out or getting excited to see jimin in his comments.

Idk, I'm sure someone could twist everything a certain way and only take certain things at face-value and then make everything else abstract, etc. to make the case that they are together, but I don't really see it. You look at face-off, alone, and just his general dark feelings during Face, then look at the creation of Muse and how him and his producers said he couldn't relate to the love-dovey beginning songs, which is how they ended up making Who (despite the fact that jikookers try to distance him from the song since he doesn't have writing credits even though he sat in the recording room telling them what he wanted and saying it felt like reading his diary). I think jimin could have very well gone through a pretty awful breakup along with the inner turmoil he was going through post-covid, but I don't think it was with jungkook if he did. I still enjoy jikook's bond either way at the end of the day, but yeah I don't really get how anyone can take an honest look at jimin's work and his words and think he was in a long-term healthy love-of-his-life relationship during that time or into chapter 2.

Not trying to change your opinion or anything, honestly I don't really see it discussed much in jikooker spaces (besides bad-faith stuff like tkkers stirring up shit over pronouns in lyrics which is just dumb) and when it is, some jikookers are pretty pick-and-choose about what they deem to be true to jimin's feelings and what isn't. Which I get being nuanced, but sometimes it does feel like a "well this fits my beliefs so clearly this is true to jimin and this doesn't so it means nothing because he didn't write it" or whatever. I honestly get annoyed with the bad-faith arguers because it prevents being able to have actual discussions about some of this stuff in our little jikooker corner of tumblr. Like "he said her, he's clearly straight! he danced with a girl, straight!" stfu.

Riley Anderson stood outside the 118 station, the early morning sun casting a warm glow over the building. Six months. It had been six months since she moved from the North of England to Los Angeles, and yet, the sensation of being in a foreign land hadn’t worn off. The city’s hustle and bustle was worlds away from the quiet countryside she’d known back home. But she loved it—the noise, the energy, the people. Most of all, she loved her job.

It was like his go-to method of flirting. And flirt he did, constantly, though in the oddest ways.

Buck leaned against a locker, a smug grin playing on his lips. “What’s this I hear about tea, Anderson? Got your biscuits ready too?”

“Keep talking, Buckley, and I’ll dunk you in the nearest river,” Riley shot back, slamming her locker shut with a grin.

“Ooh, feisty today,” Buck teased, though his eyes lingered on her a little too long. There it was—that brief moment where his usual banter gave way to something deeper. Before she could respond, the familiar shrill of the alarm cut through the room. A call. They sprang into action, heading out to the trucks in a well-practiced routine. Riley pulled her gear on, focused on the task ahead, but she couldn’t help but feel Buck’s eyes on her as they geared up. He was always watching, always hovering just a little too close.

The call wasn’t anything too serious—a small kitchen fire in a nearby apartment complex. By the time they arrived, the fire was under control, but there was still work to be done. Riley and Buck worked together, their usual rhythm in sync as they moved through the building, clearing out smoke and ensuring the fire was fully out.

“Hey, Anderson,” Buck’s voice came from behind her as they worked side by side. “You know, in the States, we call these ‘pants,’ not ‘trousers.’ Just thought I’d educate you.”

Riley, already kneeling down to check a section of scorched cabinets, shot him a deadpan look. “Is that so? And what do you call ‘annoying coworkers’ in the States? Is it still ‘Buckley’?”

Buck chuckled, stepping closer as he crouched beside her, his arm brushing hers as he “helped” examine the cabinet she was already inspecting. “Ouch, that one hurt. You’re getting better at this.”

Buck’s usual teasing smirk softened as he held her gaze, and Riley felt a flicker of something she wasn’t quite ready to confront. She quickly looked away, pretending to focus on the work at hand, but Buck’s presence remained heavy beside her.

“You know,” Buck said after a moment, his voice dropping to something lower, more serious, “I think the team’s right. You do stand out here, Anderson.”

Riley raised an eyebrow, still not looking at him. “Is this another ‘British’ thing?”

“Nah,” Buck said, his voice soft, “this is a you thing.”

Riley swallowed, the playful energy between them shifting. Before she could respond, Chimney’s voice called from the next room, breaking the tension.

“Hey, lovebirds, you done in there?”

Buck was on his feet in an instant, his usual grin back in place. “Coming!” he called out before giving Riley a wink. “We’ll finish this conversation later, yeah?”

She shook her head, trying to suppress the smile tugging at her lips. “In your dreams, Buckley.”

But as they finished the call and headed back to the station, Riley couldn’t shake the feeling that Buck wasn’t entirely joking this time. Something between them had changed, and whether she was ready to admit it or not, the way he looked at her made her pulse quicken just a little faster.

It hasn’t escaped his notice that there are none of them here, although the universes where Rooster isn’t even a pilot, what happened there? So many of them have already gone and he looks frantically at Three and Five, their Jakes looking very relaxed, all things considered. He gets up and heads over to them.

              “Hey. Can I ask you guys a couple of questions?”

              “Yeah, of course.” “Sure man.”

              “You’re both naval aviators where you come from right?”

              They both nod.

              “The uranium mission. Did you fly it?”

              “Yep.” “Sure did.”

              Jake hums under his breath, isn’t sure where he’s taking this line of questioning, then older Jake is there, looking at them all but also clearly judging them, nursing a cup of tea of all things and Jake wonders where the hell he got tea from at the Hard Deck.

              “What are you guys talking about?” Older Jake asks, and Jake frowns, because this version of himself seems so put together, like he has his life all sorted and is kind of smug about it. The fact that it’s also himself is even more annoying for some reason.

              “The uranium mission.”

              “Oh,” older Jake says, pulling a displeased face.

              “Did you fly it?” Jake asks him and he’s shaking his head.

              “God I wanted to, thought it was the only way I’d keep him alive. But saved him just as that fifth gen released its missile. Still have nightmares about being late. Like if I hadn’t already been completely buckled in, just that brief moment of needing to do up an extra fastener you know? Crazy that that’s what it came down to…”

              “Yeah,” Jake breathes, “crazy.” He has the same experience Jake has.

              He had refused to get out of his plane, even when all the other Daggers had been back on deck. He’d sat there feeling numb until it came through that Rooster’s ESAT was live and supersonic. He’d gone from numb to buzzing, working through his pre-flight checks immediately, nodding a ready-signal to Hondo when he asked if he was ready for takeoff. He had never been more ready. The idea that all it might have taken was for someone to force him out of his plane to stop him from being able to save both Rooster and Maverick makes him feel sick. God. He’s never going to let people give him shit for being a stubborn fuck ever again.

              “We both saved him.”

              “And he didn’t need saving where we came from, because he’s not a pilot.”

              “Not a Naval Aviator,” one of the Jakes corrects.

              “True,” the other Jake concedes, and Jake is reminded that Roosters Three and Five both said that they could fly planes, they just never joined the Navy. God, having a conversation with three other version of himself is starting to make his head hurt again. He prefers having all the Roosters, he could keep track of them much better.

              “Here, have some of this. It’ll help.”

              “I don’t like tea,” Jake says, pulling a face, and older Jake snorts.

              “Neither do I. Just try it you big baby.”

              Jake really doesn’t like him, wants older Rooster back. He’s much nicer to Jake.

              “Where did you get tea from anyway?”

              “Oh, I carry it with me. Just… pays to be prepared.”

              “With tea?” Jake asks, giving him a disbelieving look, sniffing at the cup. It doesn’t smell as bad as he thought it might. Taking a sip he realizes it’s one of those herbal blends, sweet and probably meant to have a calming effect or something.

              “It’s brought me a surprising number of good moments in my life.”

              Part of Jake wants to call him a weirdo, but he’s well aware that he’s talking to himself so it’s not a particularly scathing accusation, not one he thinks would particularly bother this older Jake anyway. Who seems to know what Jake is thinking anyway. Weirdo and an asshole.

              “He’s gone…” Rooster Thirteen says, appearing suddenly and it looks like he’s been crying and Jake’s heart squeezes tight.

              “Here,” older Jake says, taking the cup of tea from Jake’s hands and passing it straight to Thirteen, who takes it with a happy hum of appreciation and Jake blinks. Okay then, that whole tea preparation thing is for his Rooster, not for himself.

              “Thanks babe…” Thirteen says, and he slumps against older Jake, like he’s been through an emotional wringer and Jake guesses that maybe he has. He looks over to where Rooster is hugging Maverick and he’s glad they’ve sorted out their shit at least. He glances back to find Thirteen looking at him.

              “Just… be patient with him.”

              “What?”

              “With your Rooster. Be patient with him. He’ll get there. He’s just hurting.”

              Jake looks to Rooster again, then back to Thirteen who is stepping in close, his hand coming up to cup Jake’s jaw and Jake freezes, not sure what Thirteen is going to do exactly, but his hand drops and he’s pulling Jake into a hug.

              “You were not about to kiss an actual younger version of me,” older Jake mutters.

              “Don’t worry, you still look plenty good…”

              “I am good. I already made it right in our universe.”

              “Yeah, you did. And I love you in every single one. Come on. Lets get home.”

              Then Thirteen is stepping back, reaching for older Jake and smiling at him, kissing him sweetly-soft and then they’re gone, the cup of tea smashing to the ground.

something funny about people that swear that sasuke has to punished for his crimes is that they always use naruto to say sasuke should aton for hurting/trying to kill naruto but they always ignore how naruto is the last person on their side for this argument because he has never show indications he wants sasuke to receive punishment or smth for what people consider sasuke’s “crimes”.

and i know this is mostly due “but naruto is too empathic and he forgives villains so it doesn’t count he would do that for sasuke” thought process but like even if its true naruto has a long history of forgiving villains we have already seen he still believes they should be punished. we literally see this with obito.

this. never happens with sasuke. in fact when sasuke himself talks about dying because of his actions and to put an end to the cycle. naruto’s solution is only to work together, not about sasuke being punished which has sasuke remarking that just because naruto thinks that doesn’t mean everyone else will and again naruto instead of taking this opportunity to tell sasuke he should aton or that he should work it off so people accept him (like many fans genuinely believe sasuke should do) he just gets annoyed and says sasuke’s whining?? which basically is naruto not caring about about how other people’s view sasuke (very different how he told obito he couldn’t forgive him for involving others)

and again. i know the anime sucked in adding that scene of sasuke in prison when its never said he went to prison and in fact its stated that sasuke was pardoned and one of the biggest reasons are naruto’s wishes.

lastly, but this is just a deduction. in chapter 699 sasuke states he will leave in a journey to aton for his crimes its interesting that naruto doesnt go to say goodbye w the others and they have a personal intimate farwell on their own. but what catches here is sasuke saying “i didnt think you would come” and like seriously why would naruto NOT go to bid goodbye after everything? it just sound like they probably had an argument or smth prior and it’s most likely about sasuke leaving to aton which naruto didn’t seem to agree but still accepts sasuke’s choice to leave and that would explain why even his expression is more serious then

so yeah saying sasuke should aton for “hurting” naruto its hilarious when naruto doesn’t think that!

there’s also the fact that every stance people use to point sasuke hurting naruto they ignore naruto returning the same violence or the fact that naruto’s choice to do all that for sasuke it’s his own and sasuke literally told him to stop so blaming sasuke its just taking naruto’s agency on his chase for sasuke that wasn’t imposed by anyone but himself and there’s a whole arc of him clarifying that. but since people can’t grasp that

Cesar is sitting on a bench with Mark, the two are just chatting when Cesar's mother walks by.

Mark responds quietly, "quit laughing you ass..."

Cesar starts trying to calm himself but can't completely quell his laughter, calming it to a quiet snicker.

Mark sighs, the blush on his face subsiding a little, "well...you know how I have this black eye..?" Mark turns to look at Cesar.

Cesar looks back at him and nods, "it's pretty nasty, hard to miss." Cesar is a bit more serious now as it is true, the black eye is a lot more than just Mark's eye, it's a quarter of his face.

Mark continues, now looking away from Cesar, "well...you remember that ass? Ronald? Well...he..uh.." Mark sighs, some tears forming in his eyes, prompting him to further hide his face from Cesar by putting his hands over his face.

Cesar looks worried, gently putting a hand on Mark's shoulder, "what did he do to you..?" Cesar sounds concerned and angry, he's worried about his best friend, but he needs to know what happened before he does anything.

"its not like it was intentional...its just...the way he acted after...that's what the problem was..." Mark says, sounding like he's about to cry.

Cesar prompts Mark to continue, "it's okay ..keep going buddy...im here..." comfortingly squeezing his best friend's shoulder.

Mark continues his story through a broken voice, holding back tears, "well, he hit me in the head with a base ball, which wasn't his fault, it was just bad circumstances, wrong spot wrong time kinda thing...but after...he...when he saw me in pain he laughed...he said 'finally, that dream's suffering', he laughed and said he hopes my brain is bleeding so I'll die..." Mark finally just gives up, letting himself cry.

Cesar holds mark tightly in a hug, rubbing his back and telling him everything will be okay.

"oh..ah...its okay...well...its not...everything will be okay...its gonna get better ..okay..? Cry all you need to...im here for you...ill be here...okay..?" Cesar says as Mark cries on his shoulder.

Jonah's sitting in math class, they have a test, Jonah hates tests. He's one of those people that is great at everything until he has to take a test then he loses everything, can't even remember 2+2.

Jonah's sitting there at his desk, staring at the paper, he hasn't even answered the first question and it's already been 10 minutes. He starts sweating, getting stressed. All he can think about is how stupid he is, how his mother will tell at him for getting a bad mark on his test, how he'll be sent to his room and not given dinner.

Jonah starts to breathe heavily, his vision blurring a little. He knows exactly what's happening, he's having a panic attack. He hates when this happens, he hates feeling so powerless over his emotions. Jonah sits there, slowly breaking down more and more as tears finally begin to fall, making the test paper wet and smearing what little ink was on it.

Jonah starts to get more upset seeing this, thinking about how pathetic he is for crying over something other people find so easy. Why was he so stupid? Why'd he have to freeze up? Why's he crying? These thoughts raced through Jonah's mind, putting more pressure on his already distressed mind.

Adam is sitting beside Jonah, Adam finds tests easy, having finished this one in record time, 20 minutes. Adam hears Jonah sniffling and looks over at him, seeing Jonah shaking and the tears on his paper he makes a weird face at the side of Jonah's head, not understanding why Jonah was crying.

Adam may not know how to express he cares or like to express it, but he is a bit worried seeing Jonah has only written his name and the date on the paper. Adam wonders why Jonah's got nothing done and why he's crying. As Adam's thinking he's making a face, it looks like he's glaring at Jonah, like he's annoyed with Jonah for crying, but he's not, he's just not sure what to make of this.

Jonah looks over at Adam, seeing that look on Adam's face Jonah assumes he pissed Adam off and starts whining his tears, trying to make the crying stop. Adam sees this and realizes the face he's making, relaxing his face and giving Jonah a concerned look. Jonah doesn't see this look though, only telling himself off mentally for assumedly bothering Adam.

Adam raises his hand, calling the teacher over. Adam asks to go to the cafeteria and get something to eat since he's done with his test. The teacher gives him the okay and Adam leaves.

Seeing Adam leave so quickly after him seeing Jonah's tears solidifies for Jonah that he'd bothered Adam with his crying, making Jonah insult himself further.

Adam walks down to the cafeteria with the intent of getting something to make Jonah feel better. Adam isn't good with words and given they're in a test he wouldn't be able to use them even if he knew how, so instead he's using his actions.

When Adam gets the the cafeteria he asks what they have available. The lunch ladies give him the list, when Adam hears there's jelly filled cookies he buys two and quickly rushes back to class. Jonah loves jelly cookies, how could Adam not get him one? He of course bought himself one two, he's got a while until the class is over and snacking may make the time pass quicker.

Adam gets back to class and sets a cookie on Jonah's desk before sitting down in his desk and munching on his cookie, no longer paying attention to Jonah and just zoning out from pure boredom.

Jonah seems Adam set the cookie on his desk and stops crying for a second, shocked Adam wasn't upset with him but had in fact gotten him a cookie presumably to make him feel better, or maybe just to shut him up? Either way it's a cookie from Adam rather than an insult or an annoyed scowl so Jonah will happily take it.

Jonah eats the cookie, calming down enough to try again with his test, he's got 30 minutes left, maybe he can do it. Jonah looks over at Adam hoping for reassurance but Adam's just staring into space. Jonah sighs and smiles to himself, it's just like Adam to be staring into space when done his work, he can do literally anything else, like draw or listen to music, hell, he could even leave the class, yet every time he chooses to just sit and wait for Jonah.

Jonah begins his test, still not confident he can do it, but feeling better knowing his best friend will still be there when it's over.
