i know we all love michael afton, and like i get it, i love him too, but sometimes it really feels like the fnaf fandom cares sooo much about sadboy michael being the saddest boy of all time that they pretend other characters had better lives just so michael seems sadder by comparison
objectively i think elizabeth and the crying child get the worst of this, but especially elizabeth. theres this persistent idea that elizabeth was williams favorite and beautiful angel and he loved and doted on her so much while poor poor mike got nothing. so often i see the dynamic put forward that william was physically abusive but only towards michael. which is ridiculous for a lot of reasons, but especially because we only see william get physical with any of his kids once, and its when he hits elizabeth in the silver eyes.
obviously, the silver eyes is a different continuity. whatever. its still canon, so the things it tells us about the general world and characters still applies. and it outright shows william as an abusive and neglectful father to His Daughter. and EVEN if you want to completely disregard the books, william obviously didnt “love” elizabeth enough in the games to not want to electrocute and experiment on her when he 100% knew she was possessing circus baby. elizabeth was a means to an end to him the same way michael was. he didnt even love her enough to properly keep an eye on her even though he knew she wanted to see a robot that would kill her. if william cared about elizabeth half as much as people pretend he does she would still be alive, because he wouldve put half a mind towards keeping her safe
+ cc is in a similar boat. william had a million chances to be a decent father and try to step in between cc and michael before things went too far. the bite happened at ccs birthday party, literally all william had to do was show up to his own sons birthday and he could have stepped in but he didnt. like, we all know william was using the fredbear plush to keep an eye on cc, so theres no doubt he knew the kid was being bullied. and not only does he do nothing about it, he also 1) actively feeds into ccs fears about the animatronics 2) still makes him go to the establishment housing the animatronics hes terrified of
and the way william talks about them. “you are broken” “i will put you back together” like william views his kids as objects. broken things he can fix. these are not words said by a loving parent
and its not even just the aftons! henry is no where near as horrible as william is—i Am Not suggesting henry was abusivebut he also wasnt a great dad! building a robot to watch your daughter instead of watching your daughter yourself does not make you a good parent! henry loves charlotte, but the emilys were not some perfect family with no issues.
obviouslyyy michael suffered a ton and was a victim no one is saying he wasnt but i promiseee that does not have to come at the cost of pretending no one else was a victim too. things are just as if not more interesting if you acknowlede other characters guys i promise i promise
#long fnaf post on main today 😞 a lot of this is abt liz i have sooo many gripes#fnaf fandom will see an abused 7 year old girl lash out and go Is this an evil character 🤔#dontsay anything abt the character encyclopedia calling her spoiled i will rip you apart with my teeth#fnaf#five nights at freddy's#michael afton#elizabeth afton#the crying child#charlotte emily#henry emily#william afton#og post tag

hori constantly acts as if he isn’t the writer and has full control of the story and it pisses me off to no end. gonna drop some examples below. these are from the street wear profiles from the manga.
sen kaibara - “I love his Quirk, so I can’t wait to portray it more.” he’s acting like something/someone is actively holding him back from doing so.
tetsutetsu tetsutetsu - “I hope I get to show him in action more.” once again, acting like something is stopping him. side note, why tf did he give him that name. it’s just so lazy. and it’s not even funny. just annoying to say and annoying to write.
hanta sero - “He’s mostly just for one liners in the background, but he’s a good guy, and I’d like to feature him more. At some point. For sure.” and then proceeds to never do that.
this might just be me being bitter abt all the amazing characters he’s completely disregarded and disrespected. this might just be me not understanding what it’s like being a mangaka. but it still bothers me.
i just hate how he’s created this insanely interesting world and amazing characters and never expands on anything bc he’s too busy sucking bakugos dick.
speaking of bakugo, as someone who has narcissistic tendencies, he’s a textbook case.
he obviously has some sort of inferiority/superiority complex and a mild to severe case of a god complex. at best he’s dismissive of people who he sees as inferior to him, at worst he’s downright cruel.
his “nicknames” are all just fucking insults aimed at peoples insecurities.
raccoon eyes/horns: mina was probably bullied for her appearance and then her so called “friend” exclusively calls her names that poke fun at her appearance.
bird brain/bird face/other bird names: tokoyami has probably heard it all at this point but once again bakugo making fun of heteromorphs.
dunce face: denki has shown to be insecure about his intelligence and once again his so called “friend” mocks him for it.
tentacles/arms/octopus: again, mocking heteromorphs.
tail: i’m beginning to see a pattern here.
ears: ok how has no one pointed out how most of his nicknames are him basically just calling them slurs.
i don’t think bakugo has ever called someone their actual name. maybe a handful of times? but it’s like a massive event when he calls someone by their actual name.
exclusive calling people insults isn’t exactly heroic.
anyway rant over i just needed to get all this shit off my chest.
Hi @the-jello-bowl 👋,
There could be something to be said here about how the editors may have had a hand in Hori not exploring all the characters he may have wanted to.
But, even if that is the case, not all of the blame would rest on them.
Hori clearly did not plan ahead for a lot of MHA. He is very good at coming up with good character designs and concepts as well as bringing life to them but seems to be at a loss after that is done. The cast bloating is key evidence of this.
It is sad to see all these interesting characters be swept to the wayside in favour of Bakugou, who by contrast brings nothing of interest to the table.
Bakugou is a narcissistic abuser in my opinion. He uses cruel nicknames, not as lighthearted jibes, but to bring others down - especially his friends.
Other than the instances you mentioned, I want to bring attention to one that belongs to Bakugou's supposed best friend, Kirishima, who he calls only "shitty hair." We learn in his backstory that Kirishima changed his hair to be like his idols as a symbol of his growth prior to U.A. Therefore, being continually called "shitty hair" would hurt Kirishima deeply. He also tells Bakugou to stop, and yet Bakugou does not care.
The time I can think of when Bakugou called someone their actual name is that time he used "Izuku" instead of the usual "Deku" slur. And even that is bad because instead of asking for the right to call Izuku by his first name, usually reserved for close family, Bakugou just does it.
Typical narcissistic, entitled and stagnant Bakugou. We hate to see it.
I wish Hori didn't waste so many manga panels on this idiot.

Had a Thought™ about KHR. (excuse spelling mistakes because I WILL be making them)
So the giglio Nero family canonically has the strongest skies right? Like this matrilineal family of Skies has, as far as we know, always held the strongest skies in existence. It doesn't matter who they have a kid with, their first kid is 1) always a girl (far as we know) 2) an insanely strong sky 3) has some type of foresight.
So my thought (story idea/premise IG). Nana is descended from this family in some probably convoluted distant way. This could explain her space cadet behavior. She is LITERALLY not mentally present in the, well present. But she's enough removed from the family line that what she's seeing is probably really confusing and has little resemblance to reality. Also, let's be honest, if you're seeing visions of an alternate or possible future existence and aren't aware what that is about? You probably think there's something wrong with you. To the point you probably instinctively disregard A LOT of things that would be odd or concerning because well, they don't make sense so are probably made up. (Nana basically taking masking to the extreme meaning she doesn't notice/pay attention to the Flame and Mafia stuff because nobody else around her notices/talks about it. So it's probably Not Real)
And then she meets Iemeitsu. Who let's be honest, also has something DEEPLY wrong with him. ( A sky with no guardians? When that's what they DO?! Something is wrong with him on a literal soul deep level.) But he just acts like a mildly eccentric goofy guy, who otherwise is Normal™. So Nana gets attached to him, because she sees something similar in him. And she ignores anything pretty obviously WRONG because well, it's not REAL is it? She's just seeing things again. Plus of course Iemeitsu can't act Normal™ all the time, SHE struggles with that and that's something else she feels they have in common. (Very much modeling the fact that neurodivergent people tend to gravitate towards each other, and ignore stuff that's 'not normal', because for them normal isn't a thing that exists.)
And then they have Tsuna. An insanely powerful Sky child (I think there's mention of him possibly being the future sky acrobaleno at some point? Might just be fanon tho) who from a pretty young age has Hyper-Intuition.
Nana probably assumes her son has inherited her problems regarding seeing non-existent things. She probably ignores the general weirdness of Iemeitsu bringing his boss home and her son changing entirely after the visit, because she can't figure out a logical reason for Tsuna to change, so OBVIOUSLY there can't be anything wrong there, he's just going through a growth spurt!
Tsuna gets bullied in school? Well, so did Nana growing up. The fact the teachers are in on it? Not outside her perception of reality, because that's just how people treat those who are different, who can't 'Act Normal ™'. The problem of course here is that this behavior was Normal™. She was gaslit into believing this was expected and tacitly encouraged by society.
But, there's that little part that's still a mother, and doesn't understand WHY people act like this, and SURELY it's NOT Normal™ for people to treat her son like this!? It can't be reality! Right?! So obviously it's something ELSE her brain is making up, so something she should ignore entirely!
It would take ..... A LOT to have her come to terms with the fact that all that stuff she was convinced wasn't really happening, and just something else her brain was lying to her about, is actually reality. She's closed herself into a teeny tiny box of what she considers reality and anything outside of that obviously ISN'T.
ohoho now this is an interesting take on Nana that I've never seen before and it's so fucking cool

family dynamics.
– Varadha –
Varadha is a wildcat among rabid dogs. He is no less capable of violence or twisted games, but he operates from a completely different wavelength, which is his biggest strength.
Rudra is a typical bully. He is someone who, from childhood, has always teamed up against the minority in an effort to seem powerful, because he cares too much about perception and not enough about true value
so it makes sense, that he’d find validation in treating Varadha – a stepbrother who is so far removed from how people normally behave in Khansaar – condescendingly.
he is specifically envious of Varadha – most of the hate Rudra feels for Varadha stems from an insecure desire to elevate his own worth.
but Radha Rama?
why does she hate Varadha? – she's above Rudra's pettiness and definitely knows better than to waste her time and energy on power plays when she could work on herself.
but we know that she's hated Varadha since his birth – even more than Rudra does, in fact.
It must have started out as sibling rivalry, especially with how eager Radha Rama is for Rajamannar's approval. Varadha, ever since his birth, was probably a threat for that spot – was possibly even Rajamannar's favorite before he gave away his honor territory. and after that? the hatred only grew. We know that once Varadha lost his position as a lord, he was shunned from court, and he spent more time among the people of Khansaar than his family. and this gave him more exposure throughout Khansaar and definitely earned him a particular reputation for how level-headed, clever, and genuine he was.
it slowly became more and more obvious, (to Radha Rama especially) as Varadha grew older, that he inspired devotion in people – he had people that would die for him, and she could never understand how he'd done it, especially with how hard she'd worked to be seen as valuable.
so it frustrated her that Varadha, even with his inherent, deliberate softness, and the way he portrayed himself, was able to receive such love and warmth from the people who knew him personally, and that maybe played a part in how much more she worked for the approval of Khansaar's king:
Rajamannar.
Rajamannar is someone who definitely saw the soft power Varadha had for winning hearts, especially with his coexisting capability for exerting his own power.
It takes a diplomatic, yet terrifyingly strong man, to build and maintain an empire, and obviously, this is something that even Rajamannar was unable to do perfectly, with his need to annihilate an entire tribe to secure the throne for himself.
Shivamannar was the first and only to be capable of doing this, and Rajamannar sees that same strength, tenacity, and authenticity in Varadha. As a father, he was definitely proud of Varadha in the beginning and could see his capacity for greatness.
After Varadha disappointed him by giving away his kada, though, Rajamannar still cared for him and saw his potential, but could no longer publically support a son who had disregarded their honor & disrespected not only the territory but also Rajamannar's decision to put him in charge of that territory – especially since Varadha refused to tell him why he did it.
and now that Rajamannar, just like Radha Rama, has realized the extent of Varadha's quiet power, most of his pride has turned to wariness.
because as a father, he can be proud.
but as a king?
Varadha is a threat.
Which leads us to the fact that: Rajamannar, Rudra, and Radha Rama have been hostile to the one person who has the capacity and the qualities to rule, but wouldn't have actively sought out the throne if they hadn't placed him in a spot where the only way for him to attain respect and feel valued was to gain the throne.
Essentially, by treating him they way they have, in an effort to keep him away from court and in fear that he will surpass them, they've dug their own graves.
— love, a definition: part two [part one / part three]
#what's that quote about meeting your destiny on the road you take to avoid it?#radha rama understands varadha – and knows that the best way to get to him isn't to threaten him – but his loved ones#headcanon that varadha tried many times in childhood to befriend radha rama. but it never worked because she was unreceptive#love. a definition#part two#salaar#varadha rajamannar

Help. I bet you smart sleuthers have already covered this topic somewhere around our Tumblr neighborhood, but per usual I'm late to the party. Will someone please help me better understand Sparry's so-called "visit" with the King because the photographs and timing just don't add up. Connecting the dots seems to reveal 2 rebellious overseas unroyals who were determined to show up at Clarence House with or without permission.
On Tuesday, I felt annoyed to see the Royal Family YouTube channel (unaffiliated w/the BRF) patched into a live stream outside of Buckingham Palace. I thought it was a ridiculous invasion of privacy. Now I understand that the King was previously scheduled to arrive at BP (late morning) and the media was waiting to capture the first photo of king Charles post -treatment.
It seems Charles & Camilla were on a tight schedule which could explain the early morning (or overnight) visit with Beatrice & Edo.
The British media obviously knew that Charles was expected at BP and yet they disregarded this important bit of information to focus on Sparry's PR talking points---- all the while these manipulative talking heads knew the King had a prior engagement in his diary.
Pressure Pressure Pressure is what The Meghans wickedly tried to apply to Charles & William. There was even a mention of an EMPTY Frogmore Cottage. How low can these 2 go?🤬
Perhaps Mr and Mrs Sparry informed the men in grey of their plans to gatecrash the king & queen's departure. "Coming with or without permission." This would also explain why they flooded the media with Sparry's intention to see his father "within the next 2 days" followed by that crystal clear photograph at LAX. Someone around our Tumblr community or perhaps on reddit shared a catchy manifesting term...I'm sorry I didn't write it down bc it perfectly describes how The Meghans use her sharp elbows to bully their way through life.
All of this MANIFESTING crap to manipulate a face to face meeting with Charles: a man reeling from a life threatening diagnosis, recovering from an invasive procedure, and preparing for some sort of systemic poison.
Have I mentioned that The Meghans SUCK at compassion!!!
Beatrice & Edo
Doesn't it seem likely that family members have been welcomed to Clarence House (post-diagnosis) to wish Charles well before his Sandringham retreat-----perhaps the beginning of holistic treatments or simply to recover from the 1st of several adjuvant treatments.
The couple seems dressed for an early morning visit with a family member, NOT an audience with the King of England.
vs.
Sparry
Perhaps Sparry told the Palace "Me too! I'm coming to see my father too" and he was told "not this week," and MEgain responded "we'll see about that!"
I seem to remember Sparry had to be forced (by the Queen Elizabeth) to speak to his father and that meeting ended with shouting.
I also seem to remember Sparry had no time to give his family before or after His father's coronation.
As a courtesy, the men in grey delayed KC's departure & granted Sparry an audience with His Majesty the King, not a visit/block of time for a father-son brunch or lunch.
Sparry wearing all black upon his entrance to Clarence House but upon departure he's photographed wearing black and white, with a tie. Why didn't Sparry change clothes on the airplane?
This publicity stunt was meant to bury the African Parks story and the story about the (mon)ARCHewell revolving door. The Meghans have proven to the family (yet again) that there is no bottom to their depravity.
It was also a test for His Majesty's government as they push for IPP status, a campaign for royal housing, and of course information gathering for blackmail.
Let's do the math:
An audience with a sovereign (or even a President) is only about 5-10 minutes plus or minus time for photographs.
Sparry arrived at Clarence House by 2:45pm. Charles & Camilla were in a vehicle by 3:30pm. Sparry (if the photo is current) changed into business attire while at Clarence House. How long was Sparry in the same room as Charles?
Have I mentioned that MEgain and Sparry are SCUM and so are the British talking heads who served as their mouthpieces!?!?!

I know that this isn't a problem unique to MHA, and this isn't even a new complaint within the fandom, but the way the series deals with trauma (physical and mental) is off-putting.
Eri endures years upon years of isolation and abuse? Well, all she needs is a song and dance, and now she's smiling! Because of this, she's completely and 100% recovered from what all Overhaul put her through!
1A endures villain attack after villain attack after villain attack? Well, we've offered them counseling, not that they've been showing signs of burgeoning PTSD or anything, so they really don't need it!
Izuku mentally and physically pushes himself past his breaking point during the Dark Izuku arc, going without food, sleep, and ignoring his unhealed injuries? Obviously, all he needs is for 1A to drag him back by force and make him take bath! He's 100% good as new now!
I've already complained enough about Bakugou's bullying, so I won't rehash that.
Sir Nighteye repeatedly disregards All Might's boundaries in the name of protecting him from a horrible future, using two teenagers as a means to an end in this regard? It's okay! He had a point all along, and he truly cared!
Aizawa, Present Mic, and Midnight lose an incredibly close friend in a freak accident during their school days? Midnight's feelings aren't even explored, Present Mic neglects his own grief in favor of Aizawa, and Aizawa uses his grief as an excuse to be an asshole to everyone around him and play God with his students' futures, with NO ONE calling out his behavior as what it is.
I think the overarching problem with MHA is that Horikoshi simply doesn't know how to handle the subject of trauma or how victims can be affected by it.
It think it's why characters like Izuku, Todoroki, Eri, etc. don't feel like real people sometimes. Because if he actually focuses on their trauma, he also has to make them more complex and complexity can be very ugly. If he keeps them surface-level (Izuku being friendly/saving others, Todoroki being blunt/dry, and Eri being a cute kid), he doesn't have to get into the nitty gritty of their characters.
It would also mean making it about 20x harder to redeem Bakugou and Endeavor.
If we had more than vague flashbacks of Endeavor abusing 5 year old Todoroki, beating Rei and pushing her into insanity, and willfully neglecting Touya as his mental health deteriorates more and more, he would be seen as a lot more than simply overzealous and misguided ambition that got out of hand. He would be seen as a monster. Horikoshi has to keep flashbacks of the Todoroki family surface-level or Endeavor's redemption wouldn't have been nearly as well-received.
And of course we've gone over Bakugou. He has to saturate Bakugou with comedy or the shit he pulls would come off a lot more disturbing. If every scene with him was like the Battle Trials, he wouldn't be looked upon nearly as favorably. He wouldn't be funny or endearing (he isn't to me anyway, but I'm talking about in general), he would just be deranged and violent.
There's also the fact that Horikoshi tries his best to keep things lighthearted. I think it's because he's more comfortable doing so and it explains why Dark Deku was so disappointing. To shroud the story in a darker tone- especially with a character he tries to keep light and cheery at all times- really didn't work for him.
I think the proof is in him keeping so many characters alive when they should have died. He is unable to write the affect characters like Gran Torino and Bakugou dying would have on Izuku which is why he couldn't commit himself to killing them off.
Problem with Aizawa is that no one (Horikoshi included) sees a problem with his behavior. He's justified in his "tough love" and is seen as such a good teacher. Although for Midnight and Present Mic, I feel as though he just doesn't bother giving them any depth at all. Midnight only exists for perverted jokes and Mic is simply supposed to be a contrast for Aizawa (a prop really). He actually did start to give Midnight depth and character, but it was only like five minutes before killing her off😐
(It would have been nice if Midnight being an R-rated hero was a product of society. Her being sexualized her whole life because of her quirk/appearance and just deciding to embrace it because it was the only way to reasonably become a hero has always been my headcanon. Her civilian clothes aren't revealing (not that that really matters) and when it comes to being a hero she's very sweet and encouraging and so unlike what we see usually. When she was being interviewed about her costume, she actually started to give a really good answer before Horikoshi decided to make a cat fight out of it. That really sums up the story as a whole, it starts off really deep and intricate before eventually being interrupted by juvenile jokes and unnecessary situations)
I really wish we could have seen more of Eri's recovery. I feel like her trauma is really overlooked/ignored outside of being a plot device to be saved by Izuku and Mirio. I think the light novel of Aizawa having Bakugou of all people watch her is proof of that. Why on Earth would he take the chance that Bakugou- someone who has repeatedly dismissed others' trauma, attacked those weaker than him, and been insensitive to others' feelings, and has a destructive quirk- could trigger her? Why use Eri- an abused, traumatized kid- as a tool to make Bakugou better? But sure, Aizawa is such a good teacher, right?
(Seriously, what the fuck?)
Someone needed to tell Nighteye to shut the fuck up. This doesn't really contribute anything to this post, but I needed to say it. There's literally nothing good about him (HE STRAPPED HIS SUBORDINATE TO A TICKLE MACHINE TO FORCE HER TO LAUGH)

Leo's arc: Disability and Trauma
Happy disability awarerness and pride month.
I also discussed about his arc and queerness if you are interested.
This essay is not cohesive.
The main problem with Leo in hoo was his loneliness and inability to connect in a meaningful way with other people. Reducing those very complex problems to a need for a girlfriend and treating getting one as a solution was a terrible ending to Leo's arc.
Leo’s problems are brought up in some key moments: his conversation with Hephaestus, his conversation with Nemesis, the time he talked about why he makes jokes, and particularly to me, his conversation with Jason post Medea.
At the same time Leo has a fear of being left alone he also can’t bring himself to let people come too close to him. This can clearly be traced back to his mother’s death. The person he loved the most and was the closest to died “because” of him which later made all his family abandon him, and there is also his problem with the adoptive families that was never specified. To add to this Leo was also a weird kid, not what people consider the default, since he has adhd, is mexican and we see him having problems for not fitting the “ideal of masculinity”.
This rejection by his family and peers, plus his disability, made him feel very inadequate while looking for ways to fit enough to not be bullied, but not at the point of really forming any connections.
The guilt he feels for his mother and his trust broken by his family added a new wall between him and the rest of the world. Those things were a matter of protecting himself. Trying to not get himself hurt while also not really allowing him to hurt anyone.
I think Rick made a good job at establishing how trauma shaped Leo. He is evasive, doesn’t know and like to deal with his negative emotions so he jokes, he is aware he can be seen as annoying unintentionally so he is annoying intentionally.
Everything about him is about the fear of rejection, the fear of intimacy and not knowing how to connect meaningfully with people.
And thinking about it, it makes sense he is so focused on wanting a girlfriend. A girlfriend “gives” him the feeling of being desired, wanted, of havings something good and special, a connection because we are set to see romantic relationships as more important and deep than platonic relationships and it validates his masculinity.
However, getting a girlfriend wouldn’t solve any of his problems. Maybe it could offer some momentary relief, but it obviously wouldn’t solve his trauma and make him learn how to connect with people and go through his fears.
It also doesn’t help how Calypso and Leo interact. We often see Calypso saying bad things about Leo, someone with low self-esteem, being mad and fighting when what Leo most needs is reaffirmation and security within a relationship, romantic or not.
Disregarding Leo’s trauma and how his disability plays into it just to pretend everything is alright when a girl accepts to date him is very bad writing.
And talking about adhd, I’m no expert and I do not have the disorder, but neurodivergent people often have problems maintaining relationships, and people with adhd also struggle with social cues, masking, finding coping mechanisms to deal with the anxiety and rejection.
The point is, the set up of Leo’s arc was good, but the ending was beyond terrible.

reigen for question 8!
Thanks anon!
(ask game)
8. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise?
Jesus fuck okay where do I even begin. Uh. Okay the question specifies "despise" so I'm gonna leave out stuff that just mildly annoys me.
(Btw I'm not saying that no one can do these things, I just personally do not like these portrayals at all.)
The first thing that came to mind was how Reigen's childhood gets depicted. While there was definitely loneliness and insecurity there, everything from the story itself to bonus omakes point to Reigen having had a relatively normal childhood. He's literally just A Guy who tried to relate to an actually neglected man by saying he also felt lonely when he forgot to bring a lunch on Sports Day??? I didn't mind it at first but at this point I just can't stand stuff where child Reigen was bullied and/or abused, it feels so overly angsty to me. I feel like there's some interesting potential with Reigen and the rest of his family that could be explored but I have yet to see one that isn't just his family being abusive to him. (I do have a personal fic idea about Reigen and his mom gradually making amends but I don't know if I'll ever muster up the motivation for it...)
I guess by extension there's also how Reigen's depression gets portrayed. I feel like because he's depressed and is unsatisfied with his life, people tend to push him in this Super Sad Box when that's not how his mental illness presents itself. I can understand why people do this though (it can be fun/satisfying to put a character through a darker emotional state and it's not like Reigen never gets sad about anything in canon) but I personally don't like it when the angst gets too extreme.
Uhhh also don't like stuff where Reigen is overly horny. Obviously I'm biased cuz uh *points to username* *also i am asexual myself* but it just also feels very out of character to me in general even if I disregard my asexual Reigen headcanon. Sometimes it feels like people just portray him in a certain way because they're horny for him...
And uh yeah I guess those are the main things I can think of. Sorry this became a long mean rant 😭
(I guess I left out the worst stuff of all which comes from certain nasty shippers. Reigen would never be vile like that he would sick to his stomach if he saw any of that shit-)

ANASTASIA: ONCE UPON A TIME
God, I want to watch this movie again but I can't find anyone willing to do it because the premise is so bad. It's impossible to properly describe this movie, or guess at the motivations behind it, or divine how and crucially why it was allowed to be made.
Do you love the 1997 animated musical Anastasia? Do you enjoy Russian history and/or culture? Do you like some other other aspect of historical fiction, such as in depth explorations of actual historical personas or perhaps historical costuming?
Throw that shit in the TRASH. This movie is not for you. This movie is for people who want to see zippers on their early 1900s ball gowns. It's for people who want to see Lenin personally storm the winter palace, which, inexplicably, is right in front of St. Basil's cathedral. It's for people who want to see Lenin in cahoots with a literal witch with whom he has a slightly erotically tinged relationship. It's for people who have wondered "but what if Rasputin was actually Anastasia's cool uncle?". It's for people who want to see a disheveled orphan sing about how seeing the winter palace (which, again, despite being in St. Petersburg is somehow in the same skyline as St. Basils cathedral, which is, in fact, in Moscow) has changed the course of their life. It's for people who want to hear the most atrocious Russian accents yet put to film. It’s for people who want to see Czar Nicholas ii portrayed by a beardless Brandon Routh. Intrigued? We haven't even left Russia yet.
That's right, bc about 20 minutes in, this movie shifts to 1980s America. Why and how? Well, in order to save the royal family from, and I repeat, specifically personally Lenin, Rasputin opens a portal which is supposed to take the royal family outside the walls of the castle but instead, inexplicably, goes to 1980s America, though only Anastasia makes it through. Here she meets Megan, a girl who relates to Princess Anastasia because she too has “no friends [and] weird parents”. Anastasia, armed only with her zippered 1910s ballgown and a magical amulet that CGI glows blue or red depending on whether she can or can’t trust her interlocutor, teams up with Megan, who had conveniently just gotten a book about the Romanovs, to accomplish no clear goal -- potentially assimilating to 1980s America and having a good time?
Meanwhile -- oh no! -- kindly uncle rasputin is kidnapped by lenin himself and his weird witch companion. They hypnotize him to be evil and send him to 1980s America to retrieve Anastasia. Anastasia and Megan have had a good time magically defeating Megan’s bullies and eating spaghetti with their hands, because Anastasia, a literal princess, has apparently never had spaghetti before and can’t discern that it’s meant to be eaten with utensils. Now, they are are having a good time in the mall with fake Cyndi Lauper and giving anastasia a 80s exercise video makeover, Rasputin meanwhile is having a good time in that same mall drinking soda, stealing candy from children, walking on a runway, and being visciously defeated in a dance battle.
The rest of the movie is a cat and mouse game as Rasputin chases Anastasia and she must snap him out of his hypnosis with the power of the friendship.
Crucially to understand -- absolutely everything about this movie is bad. CGI -- terrible. Costumes -- presumably purchased directly from party city. Acting -- atrocious. There is a blatant disregard for even the most basic believability. There are flowers in full bloom as obviously fake snow swirls around. It’s also -- I mean, it’s so wildly culturally insensitive that you want to say that it’s offensive, but it’s so detached from reality that it’s difficult to say who it’s offensive to. It treats history that is genuinely personal to some people with fairly remarkable disrespect, but it’s so impossible to take seriously due to the...everything about it. This movie is so remarkably consistent in its badness that it’s truly a feat. It’s an involved viewing experience. Much like how a good movie has layers that unravel themselves upon subsequent viewings, this movie has layers of badness. It’s difficult to truly understand it from just one viewing.
This movie raises some interesting questions about art. What is good art? Is it something that evoked strong emotion? Because this certainly does. Disgust, aghastness, petrified awe. Is a train crash art? Is it something thought-provoking? Anastia: Once Upon a Time lives in my head rent free. I can’t help but wonder at the process through which this could have possibly come to be. This movie is so bad, and so obviously unintentionally bad, but you can’t help but try and rationalize it the whole way through. Maybe it’s bad intentionally, and because of that -- somehow good. It’s some form of post-modern camp. The obvious disinterest in history on behalf of the storytellers is in glorious conflict with the fact that the story is by necessity rooted in a very specific historic moment -- one that is immediately swapped for 1980s America, presumably to appeal to the thriving target market of elementary school girls nostalgic for the 1980s. Behind every explanation you could find for any choice there’s a dozen more baffling choices. This movie seems to be a comment on something -- on russian imperial history? On american perceptions of russia? On history and how it’s transmitted? On little girls’ princess fantasies? Ultimately, this movie must be a commentary on our desire to search for meaning in an inherently meaningless world. You spend the whole movie trying to seek out the reasons behind it, the message it’s trying to convey, what it could possible mean, and you are faced with the cold realization: they didn’t mean any of that. Their goal was to make a princess time travel movie and they simply did it badly. There is no secret meaning, no secret good, no revelation or catharsis. It’s just you, one-on-one with 1h25m of something entirely incomprehsinble to you.
#from the drafts#to be fair if they wanted to make a comment on russian history#then making something that is an onion of Bad that you desperately try and fail to salvage -- well fair enough

Part 3 of my posted response to "Cece's" first status about me:
See part 1-2 here:
Context:
Intro: When I said "I've read her blogs", that happened because "Ricky" blatantly showed me them and her nasty posts she was making after she made her first Facebook post about me, one of which included screenshots of our messages the day she started bullying my friend and I was mentally breaking down, basically using my past against me for whatever fucking reason. I repeat though, "Ricky" showed me her blogs and posts on them, to stir the pot between us. I didn't just "randomly" find them, obviously.
#1: I'm not going to delve too much into what I blurred out because I have put my tension with that person whom "Cece" slept with behind me and I don't want to repopen old wounds between that person and I. It took me years to find understanding in what happened and put it behind me, and I really don't want to revive my anger from that situation. In a nutshell, the person I was talking about enabling and influenced my family member's drug use when they were teenagers. In early 2018, there was an situation in which he went went too far in regard to that topic, this family member nearly overdosed, and I was the one who took care of them all night when it happened. It was terrifying for me and I was angry for awhile, being a direct witness to it and because I had begged this person multiple times before to stop giving my family member drugs, too. He knew this family member had a problem, and he disrespected his sobriety as well as disrespected the feelings of his family. There were a lot of people who were "friends" with this family member like a joke and finding entertainment in getting him fucked up, and I was sick of it. I just wanted his friends to be real friends to him and actually care about his sobriety, then when they totally disregarded all the times I talked to them about it and laughed at his drug use instead, it made me even more angry when this particular situation happened. Even worse, I had messaged him telling him to stay away from that family member and me (he knew where I worked), and he intentionally went into my job after that. I snapped shit on him immediately and kicked him out, which ultimately led to my second hospital admission. There was a lot of other things going on besides that situation, and that was the cherry in top that sent me over the edge. Thankfully my employer was understanding, took a two week leave for outpatient admission (since it was essentially like school, 8 hours of therapy Monday through friday and I couldn't work) and came back after that. I never got fired from there. I ultimately left for a higher paying job that gave me more ours 3 months later.
I'm still upset about what happened when I look back on it and I feel like he could have been a much better "friend" to my brother, but I understand that substance abuse can lead to a person making lot of mistakes they normally wouldn't with a sober mind. People with substance abuse issues aren't really themselves when they're on that lifestyle, but as long as the person sobers up, grows up in general, and does better in the future that (somewhat) gives me closure from a situation like that. From what I know, he is doing a lot better, more responsible, etc. and I can respect that.
The point is, if "Cece" and I were close she wouldn't have messed around with this person, and if I knew she was, I would have cut her off immediately back then. I didn't even find out until I started dating my ex "Ricky". He told me everything at that point (may 2019) and how he was one of the guys she was talking to when he was still sleeping in her bed himself and she was still leading him to believe they would eventually get back together supposedly. And apparently she really liked this guy on top of that and he was someone she was trying to date according to "Ricky". I don't think the dude knew about all of that either. It's like "Ricky" was essentially the male form of a mistress to her that last year they were still in contact. He told me she would brag about fucking him (and others) in the spot he slept in when he came over after, that she was obsessed with him and want to be serious with him, etc. But the main point of this is that if we were really close at that time, she wouldn't have went after that guy, and I wouldn't have stayed associating with her if I had found out they were messing around sooner.
#2: I broke up with my other ex boyfriend I started dating in April 2018 in February 2019. Throughout our relationship, I never "talked shit" about him to anyone and especially not "Cece". I never posted about him either. I don't air my relationship business out like that and I also don't like to talk negatively about my partner to anyone because I don't want to cause my friends to think poorly of them if we ultimately work things out. The perceptions the people around you have can greatly impact your relationship with a person, so I think it is better to keep your tension private until or unless you leave each other. And I've said it several times before and I'll say it again, I didn't talk to "Cece" about anything too personal to me following October 2017 when she bullied my friend. So even if I did say anything negative about him, she wouldn't have any way of knowing that in the first place, but that's the thing, I didn't talk to anyone about our business all together. I'm still on good terms with this ex, he's actually engaged to one of my closest girlfriends now, and I'm going to be in their wedding.
Shortly after I broke up with this boyfriend, I had a fling with someone, who is still a good friend of mine. "Cece" knew about it because this friend was a mutual friend of "Ricky" and told him, and then he told "Cece". Reminder, she stopped coming over around well over a year prior and she definitely wasn't there the few times we slept together. So why she thinks she has a place deciding the facts on when we did that is beyond me. She went on to exaggerate what really happened, even though she witnessed nothing and of course "Ricky"...."told her"...what happened. There's a pattern here if you haven't noticed. Just going along with everything this pathelogical liar "tells her" but never actually witnessing an ounce of any of the shit she speaks on. And even I'll admit I fell victim to that because there was a lot of stuff "Ricky" was "telling" me that heightened our tension between "Cece" and I, which was stupid. There's some things I can admit might not be true after learning how much this dude lies to both of us. Although there are some important things he "told" me that have actual proof of being true.
Anyways, she had stopped coming over to the house where that happened a long time ago and after she bullied my friend who was also friends with the person I slept with, so no she doesn't know a bit of how all of that actually went down. The point is that I didn't cheat on anyone like she claimed in the first post she made about me.
And also, it was real fucking rich of her to imply I sleep around too much when she treats sex like a trophy and has a two page front and back list of everyone she's banged. I'm not shaming anyone for having sex, but she's an absolute hypocrite for exaggerating my sex life with her "sleeping around" comment in her post prior to mine here. And everyone knows about that fucking list. Because she shows it to everyone she has sex with, right after she has sex with them, writes their name on it and rates them right in front of them, too. I've heard the exact same story from several people who slept with her and I'll bet probably 1 in 5 people in the town she's from know about the thing honestly. Like you bring up her name and one of the first things people usually say is "oh her? Do you know about the list?" It's the weirdest shit. The list isn't even the bad part. It's when, where, how and why she presents it that's fucked up. It's like she gets some weird kick out of tricking people into having sex then making people feel dirty, unimportant, and used right after she gets what she wants. Because she's a fucking sociopath.
#3: More context to her bullying that friend of mine in 2017. So what had happened was that this friend told me they were diagnosed with an STD, that they gained from an assault. My friend became suicidal and I didn't know how to support her. I was young (20 at the time) and had never handled a situation like that before. I told "Cece" about it since she was an older figure / might have good advice to give. Which she ultimately did give me good advice about it, told me to tell her about the statistics and that 1 I'm 3 people have it, it's not that uncommon, she isn't alone, and so forth. What I didn't realize is that "Cece" didn't like this friend because they had a crush on "Ricky" in the past. And mind you, this friend was 15 at the time and "Cece" was 24-25.
I asked "Cece" not to tell anyone about the situation, and she turned around and did the opposite. The first person she told was "Ricky" of fucking course, because she had a jealousy / insecurity issue and was essentially trying to use this as a defense mechanism to make "Ricky" steer clear of her. And she also told his friend who was I'm the car when she told "Ricky". She then proceeded to fear-monger and say they needed to tell the mom of the house we all hung out at to try to get the girl barred from hanging out there; saying she was a "health hazard" and shouldn't be allowed around any of us. Like yeah, let's try to cut a 15 year old off from her group of friends because she contracted an std from ASSAULT when she needs support now more than fucking ever. How low do you have to be to only think about yourself and your dumbass insecurities to scheme separating someone from their friends when they're going through something extremely traumatic. How EVIL do you have to be.
Meanwhile, I was going through my own stuff, like a lot of things at once and was in the midst of having a mental breakdown. One bad thing that happened was that I had lost my car and I was trying to ride my bike to work down a high way, which is a 1.5 hour dangerous ride, actually got stopped by a cop who told me I couldn't continue for my own safety, and then started panicking trying to figure out how to get to work. Right as all of this is happening I get a text from this friend extremely upset telling me that "Cece" was telling people about her issue and trying to get her barred from out friends house. I felt instant guilt and my breakdown intensified badly. I messaged "Cece" to talk to her about the situation and I wanted to confront her on it, but considering how easily she attacks others, I backed out of doing that and just started messaging her in a confused panic. I was splitting from being so overwhelmed and basically messaged her all the intrusive thoughts running through my head at the time. I ended up overdosing on my prescription (not lethally) on the side of the highway. Mind you, my mental state is no where near as terrible as it once was. This was 7 years ago and I want to make it clear that I have healed from my past issues with self harm. I mostly just deal with anxiety, I weirdly did a total 360 over the years, and I'm actually scared of death now.
Back on the main story, my friend messaged "Cece" angry at her for tellimg other people about her issue. "Cece" then responded by saying awful things to her and then, posting tons of passive aggressive shit about her across social media regarding the issue. My friend was still processing her diagnosis and obviously was not ready for the whole world to know yet, wanted to keep it private unless necessary (like telling a potential sexual partner for ex.), wanted to tell others in her own time, and "Cece" was essentially posting things to scare her into thinking she was going to expose her business to everyone. She already told 2 people and planned on telling more, and it scared my friend a lot. She wasn't ready to deal with that and all the bullying that could come from others knowing when it was all still so fresh. "Cece" was sharing articles about the STD publically on social media with snarky captions and other initimidating things. And then "coincidentally", my friend's nudes were leaked the same week.
While all of this was happening, the friend was at the house "Cece" had planned on trying to get her barred from. The mom of the house was witnessing all of this and told us that she did not agree with what "Cece" did and that she didn't want her over there anymore. And "Cece" stopped coming over.
However, her and "Ricky" randomly showed up late at night once unannounced and wasted a couple months later, gave this friend an almost empty bottle of vodka and a half gram of marijuana and said "this is our truce!" or something weird like that. Like yeah, give a 15 teenager drugs and then also, give them no actual apology for literally bullying/initimidating them with passive aggressive posts implying you're going to tell everyone about something they don't want the whole world across social media to make their life worse when they're already feeling low as fuck from the very fresh trauma they experienced. Go you, you're suuuch a good person. And, a good 5 or more people saw that go down, too. Friendly reminder.
It's also worth mentioning that for some reason, Cece and Ricky just get to decide what a truce means and expect people to go with it, and if they don't attack the fuck out of them. Like they did to me.
She deserved a lot more than your hand me down substances you know. You're fucking evil for what you did. And hey, is it just me or does this all sound familiar? The vague and passive aggressive posts, threatening to expose private information, mocking people for their shortcomings, bullying people on social media in such a way only the victim can usually see it. My friend may not have had to deal with it for over half a decade, but what you did to her mirrors what you did and still do to me. You literally have not changed and have only gotten ridiculously worse.
Sidenote: I already explained in part 1 or 2 when I saw "Cece" the last time following this situation with my friend. Don't really feel like explaining how cold and selfish she was about her actions toward my friend, excusing her behavior toward her, and how I didn't trust "Cece" anymore because of all this again. But you kind of get the gist in these screenshots.
#4: Not much I can say about the section in which I explain "Cece" projecting. I think I already broke that down well enough, and I think what I said in this 3 part series as well as the bit in the above screenshots speak for itself. And I concluded with how it was hypocritical of her to say that I have "zero problem solving skills" in her post when she clearly does not herself. She literally dumped my ex, started dating someone else, and then through a tantrum when he moved on as if she could just keep him on the side just as a crutch to fall back on while she was clearly looking for other people to settle down with. Like excuse the fuck me, know your place before you go off on people or something. That shit was weird and selfish as fuck and you know it.
#5: Yeah so, obviously I let him the fuck go. That whole section of me talking about him being so great and that I'm never going to leave him makes me cringe. It would have made me cringe whether they got back together or not because I learned in that time with him that he really wasn't a great partner let alone human being. But I am a kind person, I am (probably too) empathetic, I actually don't abuse my partners, and I am an extremely committed person that won't break up with anyone until they do quite a bit to hurt me, which is kind of the point I was trying to make. I think she saw us lasting a long time, and that she was pissed off at me for taking her side piece to fall back on away because she was overly dependent on him. As well as always having someone there so she in general, did not have to be alone with herself. My take is that she just wanted him out of convenience, and she got mad that I unintentionally made her co-depency issues less convenient for her to deal with by dating him.
Moreover regarding that section, "Cece" was going around telling people "Ricky" used her for sex when they weren't even having sex or dating for months before he actually cut her off. He just wanted to move on, and it was hard to do that always being around her, but go figure she can't comprehend let alone acknlowedge anyone else's feelings. Only her own.
And I already explained the weird shit with how she was dating one of HIS friends while all of this was happening. Not getting into it again, but wanted to point it out in these paragraphs again because it says a lot about her "she was my friend!!!" excuse for being unreasonably angry at us dating.
#5: "Cece" claimed in her first post about me that "Ricky" lost respect for me after sleeping with our mutual friend a few months prior. Obviously didn't lose enough respect for me if he dated me for 3.5 years after that, but whatever. I actually do think he probably said that too by the way, probably just because he was salty that I didn't go after him, had a thing with his friend instead, after I broke up with my ex earlier that year. He used to talk about how he was insecure because of his friends too, how girls "only wanted to date my friends", and that Cece specifically made those insecurities worse when she herself went after her friends when they were actually a thing.
#6: The entire time I knew "Cece" she was constantly posting statuses judging other people for not thinking exactly like her, arguing with people on their posts, biting heads off, bullying others, etc. Basically, a keyboard warrior, although that would be an understatement at this point. Also, regarding her talking badly about me behind my back when we were "friends", he told she used to diss on my clothes/makeup and brag about random dudes thinking she was the "prettier one" in the few selfies we took together. He told me he would defend me and say "isn't amber supposed to be your friend" and stuff like that, and that they supposedly got in a fight about it once. Which it's doubtful he actually argued with her about that tbh. I think he just told me that to seem like the knight in shining armor, exaggerate his feelings toward me when we first started dating, and to of course, stir the pot between us. But at the same time, I wonder if he did argue with her, say he liked my makeup or something, and if that's why she randomly begged me to do her makeup once before. Point is, I was told by my ex that she was talking badly about me behind my back before we were ever on bad terms and I do believe that considering her pretty clear and extreme jealousy toward me later. And real friends don't do that to their friends. Especially not "close" ones.
#7: Ah yes, my tangent about Narccistic Perspnality Disorder, which she now projects onto me and recently, in the EXACT WAY I predicted she would; me taking selfies. WHICH has nothing to do with NPD, by the way. I really was 10 steps ahead of her, probably more, and even predicted the topics of smear campaigns a whole 5.5 years ahead of time. That's hilarious.
#8: Me not looking at her blog would have worked if "Ricky" didn't keep showing me her fucking blog all the fucking time for a good two months after this. I have proof of him screenshotting her posts and sending them to me, but I will delve more into that on a different post.
#9: "Ricky" told me that "Cece" liked to get revenge on people by messing with their cars, such as throwing bologna on them, putting sugar in gas tanks, and she had also spray painted a different ex's girlfriend's car months prior to our tension. He told me he directly witnessed this, if not bragged to him about if. I wish I still had the messages of "Ricky" telling that person about it and confirming that it really did happen. I guess I could always shoot then a message myself and maybe get screenshots of their chat now though, but I won't for this stupid internet shit. I only will if I have to. Anyways, this becomes relevant when my car actually started getting vandalized after this and that year.
#10: In conclusion, "moving forward" didn't happen, because she decided to stalk the ever living fuck out of me, my ex kept stirring the fucking pot, and there is no "moving forward" when that happens and continues to happen.
.
.
.
Welp, that's the end of my summary of the first post I ever made about "Cece". I won't lie, I got pretty snarky in certain parts and its bit cringe, but nothing I said was a lie either. And none of this was worth stalking and harassing someone in extremes for over five years.
At the end of the day, all I did was make a fucking status about you on Facebook that would have done been ignored by anyone who mattered to you and forgotten about by anyone who didn't. Not me dating my stupid ex and not even me speaking the truth. No one truly gave a fuck about your relationship with him and half the town we live in was already preaching you were a predator for literal years anyways. Stop acting like it wasn't already heavy gossip around here for a good while and like I was the first person to ever call you out for it. For you to get so pissed off about ME out of the dozens of others who were already saying that honestly says a lot about my position here, too. Like why are you so worried about what I say out of all the other people who have posted about you on social media, huh? Could it be that you think people actually DO listen to me? Hmm. Just an interesting thought.
In conclusion, if you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen I guess. Don't bite people if you can't handle being bit back. The fucking end.

I'd just like to put this out here that James may have bullied Snape and a few others but it was mostly because Snape and slytherins were all linked to the dark arts (ofc we know that being in slytherin shouldn't dictate anything) but he was growing up at the height of Voldemort's rise, so obviously it was going to make things even more tense between the houses. James was not a cruel person because he did so much for his friends. He turned to an animagus for Remus when he found out he was a werewolf when many would have been afraid (even Ron shows a bit of bias). He even was friends with Sirius, who came from a family of pureblood supremacists and helped him after he ran away. Many people talk well of him. And you could say they're being nice to Harry but if James was really such an awful person, Harry would have heard from someone else of his cruelty not just from Snape. And the biggest clue to know whether James was good was because Lily married him in the end. She would not have been with him if he really was a cruel person. She loved him in the end because he changed. And even at the time he was killed; he wanted to protect both Lily and Harry. Unlike Snape, who asked Dumbledore at first to just protect Lily completely disregarding the fact that her husband and child would be killed. Knowing that Lily would be devastated with the loss of her family but only thinking of own selfish love. I do understand he was traumatised as a young boy and bullied. I do take that in account but he too became a bully. I think Snape needed therapy to avoid being an abusive teacher and to get over his obsessive love with Lily because it was NOT pure love.
Completely in agreement. Snape eventually became the one he himself despised. James was not perfect, but he was a faithful, good and good friend, but everyone forgets it, singly accusing him of ridiculous and absurd things that are not true. Sexual Assault about Snape? Blackmailing Lily? Guys, wake up and be realistic.

I saw someone critique Yor's character before saying that it was difficult for them to get invested in her because they felt she was infantilized to a degree by the narrative. Obviously, they're entitled to not be into any given character in whatever piece of media, but I don't think it's without merit either - she is to some extent, but there seem to be clear narrative reasons for this, as you so eloquently wrote here. Power is a recurring theme in Spy x Family. Just about every character in the main players of the story engage in it in some manner; Anya lies to her parents, Loid lies to people not in WISE, Yor hides her job from the family, Yuri can't reveal his identity as a member of the SSS. To some degree, this gives them a small amount of control over each situation and how to leverage that to their own advantage. On a broader scale, we can see how this effects things like the fact that Loid openly admits who started the last war was irrelevant, and that to some extent it didn't matter whether Westalis or Ostania was telling the truth since they both took advantage of the situation for themselves. In particular, Endo seems particularly interested in how authority is abused, such as Donovan's and Melinda's general disregard for Damian (and likely Demetrius) has helped make him into a bully, even if we know there's a much nicer, kinder version of him hidden inside of him. Yor isn't innocent; even assuming that her targets are all heinous like the Garden claims, she's still wantonly murdering them. However, she's also a victim. They took someone in a highly vulnerable emotional state and molded her into a child soldier. There really is no getting around this. Even if everything else that we learn about them isn't so negative they're barbaric for this alone.
That isn't even getting into the possible human experimentation origin of Yor's super strength, though admittedly Endo could just play it off for laughs like he's done up until now.
We know that the Garden, particularly the Shopkeeper, doesn't seem to have much use for the Desmonds or the National Unity Party based on his discussion with Yor but I don't think that matters much either. Why do they see themselves as the seeming arbiters of morality in Ostania? Who's given them that right? That isn't a defense of the far right politics of the country but it seems to me that the answer is likely to end up being "nothing." After all, we know that they make exceptions for people who probably are quite violent themselves. It might be totally true that the Gretcher family did start out doing genuinely good things like helping those who were starving during wartime... but Gram Gretcher was also the head of a bunch of criminals who almost certainly did horrible things to maintain their status. Yet they were apparently not as bad as the people that replaced them once he died? I find it simply more likely that they were amenable to the sorts of business interests the Shopkeeper possessed than the new people in charge, like Leonardo Hapoon. Occam's razor, etc. Anyway, thank you for articulating something that I struggled to put into words myself.
About Yor: she isn’t dense, but most likely indoctrinated by Garden
So I wanted to address this for a long while now, because I’ve seen one too many posts talking about Yor like she’s just an aloof assassin who doesn’t care about things outside her direct environment, which is why sometimes she says dense things.
I’m well aware that she’s a fan favorite so people don’t mean her harm, yet I think the whole story actually hints at way more than her being dense, especially considering her background and who she still works for.
In other words, since Yor was trained but also half raised by Garden’s leader, the Shopkeeper, it’s likely that, considering how they operate and what they’re about, they instilled in her a conditioned dependency since childhood or teenage years that would make her unable to learn things on her own without asking for their opinion, making it very hard for her to turn against them ever.
Want a striking example? Her encounter with Melinda Desmond.
Not only did she not know who Melinda was (but I mean, that at least could be understandable)…
…but she also didn’t know what a First Lady is.
Sure, it’s funny on first glance, but after thinking about it, what does it betray? That Garden probably made sure over years Yor would never get the slightest basic info and understanding on what politics of this country are all about. Because if their strong soldiers start to get opinions of their own, then they could start disagreeing with Garden and turning on them. So, “let’s prohibit people having free thinking, so that they can remain good little pawns” as we “fight for peace in our country”.
In fact, for Yor, until a short time ago (when she met Loid and Anya), all she did was thought and decided for her by Garden and, to this day, she still voluntarily asks them for their agreement when she opens up her close circle little by little: she asked them if it was okay to marry Loid and then she asked them if it was okay to befriend Melinda.
To be honest, that’s a scary ass thought process to envision, when Yor’s an independent working lady well into her 20s, but this shows how deep Garden’s indoctrination runs in Yor, since they got hold of her as a child/young teen.
Another striking example is the way she always describes her job, in an almost childish way. Her nickname “thorn princess” aside, I always found it interesting that Yor’s aware she’s an assassin but she isn’t morally anguished at all about killing people and never mentions or distinguishes any grey area in her missions. In fact…
… it’s all in black and white and she clearly thinks that the people she kills are all evildoers (which as we saw in the recent arc with the Red Circus isn’t always the case and begs the rhetorical question “why does Garden get to decide who’s evil?”), therefore “she’s not doing anything wrong”, which also pretty much betrays how she was pushed into it.
Long ago, Garden probably baited Yor with Yuri’s protection and told her that, since they’re “about peace”, Yor’s work would just help them to “fight against evil”. As a child, she wasn’t mentally fit to understand the deeper implications and then she was mentally conditioned to always do and think like Garden tells her to, which promotes this systematic childish description of her assassin’s job.
Finally, please take notice of the Shopkeeper’s reaction the first time she tries to argue about her work, in the ship arc:
Enough said, Garden’s awful. I’m sure there are more examples throughout the story, but I now want to talk about future character development.
After all, since the story obviously calls for Yor to ditch Garden, to protect what’s actually important to her (Yuri, Loid and Anya), we actually do see her changing little by little so far, thanks to her living with Loid and Anya. Her coworkers quickly mentioned that she’s more lively ever since she got married and the ship arc overall emphasizes that her family is starting to become more important to her than her job, so there is high hope for Yor. :D
Additionally, while she’s still far away from noticing that Garden mentally drove her into a corner, she now openly voices her concerns that “she’s not normal” but that she wants to understand why in order to learn how to change.
To be fair, fighting against indoctrination is tough and takes time so I’m very proud of her for slowly realizing that she ought to decide for herself from now on. :D
TL;DR Yor is not dense. She was indoctrinated as a child by Garden and can only (for now) see the world through the filters they taught her.
Ironically enough, the only character who knows about her real job and could, thus, notice that Yor isn’t being critical about Garden…… actually can’t because she’s a four year old who is too young to understand that Mama’s job is wrong. Well done, Endo-sensei!

considerably long sleep deprived blog management ramblings (+ question that i would appreciate input on) below the cut. apologies if i sound a little insane ive been up for almost 24 hours because my brain is going too fast to let me sleep (the downsides of being autistic and fixating on your own fucking five nights at freddys roleplay blog)
ive been trying to keep this blog mainly canon characters bc thats just. easier overall (dont have to explain every little thing abt them) but like. hhhfgh. i love the character dynamics the muses that i have offer me but like. they have very very concrete roles in the story. they have their Places.
now, i very much enjoy these roles. i enjoy playing them, i enjoy planning things to do with them and developing on them and i very much enjoy the way the people i play them WITH add to the dynamics on their end and add their own insight on my characters as my interpretations are not fully formed and likely never will be. yall r great im so happy to have found you guys.
but also. i have a very specific set of characters. other than the animatronics, i have the afton boys, cassie, and jeremy fitzgerald. and this specific set of characters are all very restrictive in a very specific way.
michael is. the human punching bag. this blog has just turned into me bullying him and like. not that im complaining, i just wasnt expecting the muse for him to hit me that hard. he has taken over this blog and that was not what i had planned. the thing with him is: nine times out of ten, when he is interacting with someone else, he is not a participant in a conversation. he is a target. that is just due to the nature of how his life is. he is the protagonist of a franchise of survival horror games. other than a few select family members and maybe like. henry, charlie, and jeremy, he doesnt have positive relationships with anyone. which means he is a GREAT source of angst or conflict, which i love to write, but it also means he doesnt provide many other forms of interaction. he may have a few soft moments here and there, with his mother or with henry, taking care of him and giving him reprieve from his father, but... thats about It. unless he finds some new friends, he doesnt do lighthearted, funny social interactions, and i highly doubt my michael will find any romantic partners for a long time. he is great at what he does. i just need to find balance between him and my other muses because i dont want my blog to be me just beating this poor guy up 24/7. thats just cruel.
evan - only really knows his parents, siblings, and maybe charlie. hes a baby. probably wasnt any older than five or sixish when the bite happened. very very good for soft, comforting moments. unfortunately , incredibly limited in who he could reasonably interact with. i mean, feel free to prove me wrong, but im coming up with a blank here.
cassie - also a child. would be good for more psychological horror type threads like how ruin was, but i do not feel comfortable putting her in real physical danger. mainly, just like evan, she is a muse i want to keep safe and comfortable, no matter how much it disregards canon. i am very very touchy around my younger child muses, for obvious reasons. yes, i am aware this is the Child Murder Franchise. no, i am not going to let you Child Murder my fucking elementary schoolers. full stop. also, moving on from that, likely wont get much interaction outside of security breach muses or muses with sb verses. once again, constricting.
and then theres jeremy. lets be real here. he has no canon connections to anyone. hes the only one with any actual connection to the fnaf 2 location, and thats just about all we know about him. obviously, hes basically an oc already. my jeremy is close to michaels age, so hes not gonna be involved with just about anyone else - hes just fucking here, basically. just SITTING here. hes my favorite child i wanna play him so bad im here waving him frantically at passersby hoping for interaction but its no use because theres nothing to work off of to START interactions. that is nobodys fault but mine. my dumb ass got attached to Background Character #43 and now i cant let him go. hes the abandoned doll collecting dust on the corner of the shelf because nobody plays with him. he barely exists.
BASICALLY, all of that mess was to say that i need to diversify my roster - i need a muse that i can throw at whoever i want. no pre-existing canon connections to anyone to complicate things, no timeline constraints until we possibly build one of our own, just, fucking. Miscellaneous Fazbear Entertainment Employee #4067 that i can put in Situations.
if i actually went through with making a fnaf muse like that, would anyone be interested in interacting with him or would i just be making a guy in my brain and then putting him on the shelf next to jeremy?? genuine question please help.

I'm sorry but the more I think about it the harder it is for me to dislike soldier boy. Like he gives me asshole yet charismatic anti hero vibes.
I'm thinking about his character and what we know so far and he honestly seems redeemable and even likable. Like hes not a good person by any means, hes an absolute asshole and pretty entitled, and has obviously hurt a lot of people with a lit of the things he hasdone, but he doesn't seem as trigger happy, delusional, and as disregarding for human life as homelander is. They're supposed to be the same, but from different times, but I just cant see that yet. Soldier Boy seemed genuinely regretful about the people he accidentally killed. He obviously doesn't apologize, he saw them more as collateral damage, which honestly seems to part with his military background, but it looked like he felt genuinely bad. When have we ever seen a supe feel bad for hurting someone? Theres also his interactions with hughie and butcher. He seemed to genuinely get along with them, and he was willing to help them despite not really getting anything in return (he could probably find the rest of his team on his own if he really tried, he didn't need butcher) and also having absolutely no idea what he was getting into with taking on homelander, but he helped then anyway. He did nothing to Starlight or MM despite both of them trying to fight him/were antagonistic as hell towards him. And he stood down when butcher told him to. I guarantee you homelander would've lasered them both on the spot. So he seems to be keeping his word and is actually working with them. I also noticed his attitude towards butcher and hughie was pretty chill and receptive. He wasnt antagonistic, he wasnt on edge or on defense, and despite being an asshole, he wasn't as condescending or as much of a bully as I had expected him to be. He was willing to talk to them and also listen to them. He also opened up to Hughie about how he felt forgotten despite fighting for his country, about countess and about midtown. It felt like a pretty genuine moment of weakness, it honestly felt very human of him. I truly didnt expect him to be so chill and down to earth considering hes a supe and knowing his backstory. I was expecting so much worse.
Now I know hes done plenty of bad shit. MMs family obviously being the main thing in the story right now. But even then, from what we know, it was an accident, it wasnt like a blue hawk situation where he was targeting innocent people and actively murdering them with complete disregard. Like it was, once again, collateral damage to him. And that's not a good thing, like he lacks accountability, as it was shown by his very condescending response to MM, but that's why I think hes on that grey area of an anti hero.
We really do have to keep on watching to know more about where the fuck we stand with his character. But so far, I kinda like him. And if the writers decide to keep him as an ally, and obviously not turn him into homelander, I think he could be a good part of the boys. I mean fuck did yall see his coordination with butcher and Hughie? Like those three were more of a team than the seven is supposed to be. And the three of them seem to get along. I can honestly see them chilling and drinking beer together. I would personally like to see soldier boy team up with the boys to take down vought and expose them, and I would hate to see his character, along with Jensen's acting be wasted by killing him off or going down the let's make him a bad guy road.
But we'll have to see.
These are just my thoughts thus far. I'm in no way absolutely correct about his character, my thoughts could be entirely wrong and that's okay. Yall can disagree and that's also okay. Just wanted to get my thoughts out there because I've seen a lot of debate about his character. Sorry for the long rant and thank you.
