Great will get Tyme's heart (after he's shot), and the out-of-body experience Great is dealing with now is his chance to find out who killed Tyme and then deal with that when he wakes up from the transplantation.
I find it curious Link Click uses the twins flashback to shove on our faces right away the parallels between Cheng Xiaoshi and Li Tianchen. Both combative boys, protective of their family, somewhat naive in different ways and quite enamoured with looking cool. So yeah, there's parallels, but to be fair the writing is good enough that you can find parallels with the main duo regarding any of the new s2 characters. And I think Link Click cleverly does that so we only realize closer to the finale what is, in my opinion, the strongest parallel: Cheng Xiaoshi and Li Tianxi.
They are both "the babies" of the group. Whereas Cheng Xiaoshi has two endlessly nagging friends who often scold him and push him to do better, Li Tianxi lost both her mother and a brother capable of caring for her, thus her needs go ignored as she grows up with Qian Jin. Qiao Ling and Lu Guang work together with CXS to earn a living/pay off his debt, LTX is used by her family to carry out the shady stuff they don't really need to do (both CXS and LTX get in extremely emotional and vulnerable situations because of it).
Cheng Xiaoshi eventually grows and understands his powers as a duty, and even though LG and QL still try to shield him from the worst*, they look proud whenever he shows what he's capable of (QL even calls him cool!). LTX's one "act of rebellion" is framed as a betrayal and she's straight up murdered. In the confrontation, she even prefers hiding behind CXS, whom she met hours beforehand, exactly bc she knows what her family is capable of.
Both are sensitive people, burdened by well-meaning actions with over-the-top consequences (it hurts to try and explain this one). In (this specific trauma for) CXS case, he was already an adult and in s2 spends the entire time reevaluating and adapting; in LTX's, she was a child and hardly knew how to deal with this guilt and /waves hands/ everything after
I really like this parallel of their running and emotional actions setting off this part of the plot. They cross paths, but the people they help do not have their fate changed significantly by this. But those moments where they FEEL Emma (+Lu Guang in this specific parallel) and Chen Bin were enough to carry LTX and CXS both into their roles in the story.
LTX finally "goes back" to the home she idealized, CXS is waiting at home for his parents. They cross paths, both get shot in that tunnel, but just as quickly go down opposite directions. LTX out of care for her (criminal) brother, parts with him; while CXS waits, he also built a new home for himself with new people he can call family. There's hope for him yet.
*tbh they're a biiiit controlling, but I can see that habit developing through the years, not because they don't mean well
WELL. YOU SEE. he is tasked to hunt down @mojaves' seb by a mystery client and cassidy who usually is a really really good assassin for some fuckass reason can't kill this guy. he keeps missing his shots he keeps fucking up every single encounter he has with seb to the point he just fails so horribly miserably terribly at killing the guy to the point their cat and mouse game (that takes like. a year. btw) ends up turning sexual. they don't have sex they don't kiss but they may as well have at this point. seb ends up licking blood off cassidy's face in one of the encounters. they fight in the gym in the showers and cassidy breaks seb's wrist. so that's where the vibes come from ^_^ they do end up teaming up to take down the client together and then after many more years get together and get gay married etc but that's not the point
I just finished rereading Slider's oneshot and I loved it just as much as I always do. I was wondering if you had any thoughts on how the conversation between Ice and Cougar went at Ice's retirement ceremony. You gave us little snippets of it from Slider's point of view, but I'd love to hear more of it if you have thoughts on it you'd like to share.
this is such a kind ask. i have no idea
for the same reason there is no explicit reaction in ch 12 when ice first hears mav say i love you—i spent a good week low key trying to figure out whether a reaction was needed there—it’s such a potent powerful cocktail of so many wild & unfamiliar emotions that i don’t personally think i have the literary juice to even attempt to try to describe it
i also am allergic to writing ice or mav explicitly coming out to anyone because it gives me secondhand embarrassment for them. the idea of the commander of the pacific fleet having to psych himself up to awkwardly mumble “um i should’ve told you all this time … i think i…i think im gay” to his friend gives me the ick sorry he’s not fifteen years old. so he Could be doing the big lgbt rite of passage of emotionally apologizing and coming out to Cougar in that conversation. but he Could Also be doing the ‘im nearly sixty years old im not gonna bullshit you’ thing of simply saying: “you and I have been very shitty to each other in the past and i apologize for that in x,y,z way and you were right about me and maverick and we’re gonna make it official this summer and if you want to come we’d really love to have you & normalize diplomatic relations between us again, you’re a real great friend when you’re not being a massive fucking douche”
I have a feeling that you really like Disco Elysium xD 🪩
Yeah, I've finally gotten around to playing it and it's really fun so far. I'm on day 7 now
My only complaint is that the game has a few bugs that caused it to get stuck (like when I asked measurehead to take down the body and the next dialogue wouldn't load) and I wouldn't be able to find a way around them without looking for a solution online
Also, liking the game itself is one thing, but I probably wouldn't reblog so much fanart of it if the people on here weren't so goddamn talented !!
I think the only reason I'm not entirely on board for 2003 Epsilon was that the design doesn't work for me all that much.
It's very original (sorta bug-like, like many other robots in the 2003 series) but it's not very much what I see for Epsilon.
She got to do more than her previous incarnations but it would have been more fun if she had an episode that focused on her rather than only showing up for a while in a few episodes.
(Meanwhile, Delta had more focus than anyone. He's arguably closer to Atom than most other robots and he had a full character arc too!)
its impossible for you all to understand how much of my thoughts r in sweeney references. like there is one person on this earth who understand and its my sibling who is similarly inclined...
Something I have been thinking about a lot recently is that people on the right and left doing the exact same thing while simultaneously calling out the other side for doing it and having some kind of cognitive dissonance that lets them believe that they are not doing anything wrong.
A couple examples of this, when the trump assassination attempt happened we got two pieces of information 1. He once donated $15 to a democratic political organization and 2. He was a registered republican. That's all we know. But people on the left are claiming (with no proof) that he lost a bet and that was why he donated and people on the right (with no proof) are saying.. that he registered as a Republican so he could vote in the primaries and mess up the results? That is a genuine thing people are saying.
The amount of people you would have to organize in order to actually have any effect on the outcome of a primary is so large I don't know how people are saying this with a straight face.
Then again with the assassination attempt you had people on the left saying things like "we almost got him" and "better luck next time" and people on the right saying how disgusting that is but when nancy pelosis husband was attacked in his home you had trump himself mocking the man for being attacked. And I haven't looked into it super hard the people on the left who were celebrating but I did see a few posts like showing people who celebrated but they were all random Twitter accounts? I'm sure there must have been some left actual politicians who did but I thought it was weird being like "look at these leftists celebrating the attempt" and it's all random people on Twitter? Meanwhile tons of right actual politicians are celebrating political violence against Pelosis husband.
I just don't understand how people can call out the other side for doing something they themselves are doing. If you know of any more examples of people doing this I would love to see it!
