Would Nightmare actually give up his boys? Yes and no

If it was just a black and white situation of they're miserable, they don't wanna be here, they have somewhere better to be, then yes. He would leave them out to wherever they needed to be despite his own feelings and very quickly realise afterwards just how much he'd gotten used to the noise and company. I think he would get a little clingy with Dream about it, which I'm sure Dream would find very weird after everything but not unwelcome, he did miss his brother after all.

(If he couldn't attach himself to Dream's side for whatever reason, I think he might just sit in his castle and go insane. Or maybe he'd just spend all day at Ccino's trying really hard to project that he just likes the atmosphere and isn't lonely as hell)

But the thing is, most of them don't have somewhere better to be. Horror has his au, and Nightmare would keep up the supply of food even if Horror said he wanted to quit at this point, so he would understandably let him return home. Killer, Dust and Cross effectively don't have aus anymore though, and they tend to get into self-destructive habits when they're left to their own devices. (Obviously bringing Color and Epic into the mix to make sure Killer and Cross are taken care of eases matters, but Dust doesn't really have any friends outside their group he could go stay with - that Nightmare knows about at least).

The flipside of this is that his boys may not necessarily want to be given up. I think if Nightmare got really in his head about this he could easily end up convinced this is the right thing to do without ever asking them if it's what they want, with potentially terrible results. He's established such a pattern of always returning to find Killer when they get seperated, that if he never showed up Killer might just keep sitting there and waiting for him greyfriar's bobby style, refusing to leave because he's certain his boss is coming back.

I feel that during the first coffee date walk through the market, rye has a fraction of a millisecond's kneejerk trauma freakout of '...wait. wait. am I really catching feelings for a rich boy again. with how that went down last time. am I truly that stupid' (once derogatorily referred to quite openly at a party as 'young master anaxas' pet mortalitasi' to which the young master anaxas only grinned and shrugged and STILL you don't break up with his smug controlling ass for good for six more months because you have a desperate bottomless yearning pit where your self respect should go, twice shy lol). and then he actually looks at lucanis standing next to him getting harding spearmint to help with bad dreams and generally being so quietly thoughtful and sweet through the prosaic yet necessary medium of grocery shopping it makes me feel a little unwell to truly contemplate. and rye is like '*the softest fondest eyes anyone has ever turned on anything* ...you know what. I suspect we don't have to worry about that repeating, I think we're probably safe. I am comfortable being this level of stupid. (slowly dawning marital intent even at this stage)'.

(part of the reason rye buys NONE of illario's bullshit at all right from the beginning is that he's basically vaccinated against this exact type of dude after that relationship lol. charming suave guy who in the beginning pays you a lot of lavish attention and takes pains to make you feel special every time you're in a room with him -- but shallowly and mostly, it slowly dawns on you, when there's something he wants from you (and he's often doing it at the expense of someone else, raising you up to put someone else down and you won't believe this... it can turn into a seesaw at a whim. yay). and beneath that there's just a seething pit of resentment and inferiority complexes and bitterness left to fester until he can make it everyone else's problem and that IS going to start to bubble up between the cracks with you too if you stick around for long enough. no thank you been there done that wasted my youth and potential on it and all I got was this lousy shiny set of new emotional intimacy issues haunting me for life! trust me illario I HAVE, as it were, chosen the wrong dellamorte before, which is exactly how I know I didn't this time. go get him lucanis I've got your coffee

Okay, I've been thinking about this all morning, so follow up to my last post with a lot more depth.

What if Orange isn't a side? I like the idea of orange being representative of ADHD, and I think it would be cool to see ADHD explored in Sanders Sides. It's certainly a more interesting idea than the orange side being rage or wrath.

My only problem with it, is I think that ADHD is too all encompassing to be a side. In my experience, it impacts everything. And you can see bits of it in all the sides, if you look for it. Patton is very impulsive, especially when it comes to spending money, and he feels things very, very deeply and intensely, like someone with ADHD would. Roman creates and creates, but he is insecure about it. He wears a mask of false confidence and personability, while deep down probably being the most self-conscious of them all. Virgil's anxiety over disappointing friends, forgetting things, making Thomas check and recheck, points to the type of anxiety someone who has a history of forgetting things would develop over time. The self-preservation of Janus, the lies to cover the obligations you forgot, or that you just couldn't do, the fear of being rejected or not understood if you tell the truth. Remus can be connected to an overactive mind that just won't stop racing through different thoughts and ideas.

If ADHD is a side, that's a very powerful side that has a LOT of control over the others. Which does track with Logan's eyes turning orange, I suppose. But what if, instead, orange remains a specter? Only seen in Logan's eyes or in the light over the stairs behind Virgil, hanging over them all. Not a side, not something to be reasoned with, but an unseen force. Something that can twist any side to its will--making Logan angry, making Roman insecure, making Virgil paranoid, making Patton impulsive, etc.

And that's why these hints have been cropping up in videos for so long with no actual orange side showing up.

can I ask when you started on hrt? cause I'm just starting now (25) and although I logically know that's definitely not too late, I can't help but feel sucker-punched by grief every once in a while that I don't get to spend my early twenties in a body that feels like mine.

many internet hugs for you, anon. I didn't start hrt until I was around 26 and didn't come out at all until about a year before that, and I absolutely spent some time early on grieving the time I lost, especially since the pandemic struck just as I was finally starting to feel comfortable in my own body.

however, I'm now 32, and that sense of grief and regret has only grown more distant the more time I've spent living how I was meant to be. and I promise you have much, much more time than it feels like. at age 25 I was literally a bridesmaid in my brother's wedding (we joke about it now), and within like two years I'd completely socially transitioned and was working in a salon in cosmetology school where none of my clients knew me as anything other than the Obligatory Resident Gay Guy. I've made friends, I've gotten involved with the local kink community, I got comfortable enough to grow my hair back out and go full tolkien elf, and it feels fantastic. There's a lot of cultural emphasis on your early 20s in media and online culture, but it's really a tiny sliver of your entire life and pretty much nobody, trans or cis, has fully become themselves by that point.

That's not to say the grief doesn't have a place, I still have my moments where I think about what could have been and mourn the person I wasn't able to be, but the experiences you'll have going forward will more than make up for it.

While I’ve never published any fanfics in a lot of my ideas Paimon ends up getting a bit shafted due to me not really knowing what to do with her because outside of being the travelers voice she doesn’t do all that much.)

Most of the Inazuma main story (if I want to I can be willfully ignorant and enjoy the story but after reading gold-rhine’s Inazuma re-write I can never go back)

The traveler being a jerk to Furina at the beginning of her story quest. (In character for Paimon but the traveler I think would at least be a little more understanding and would try to get Paimon to stop guilt tripping her)

Finally, the traveler fails to get Charlotte any scoops from the fortress of meropide. (I know why but they did waste a bunch of her money and that feels mean)
