I wonder if Danny could bribe Technus into doing something about the nano bots in Jazz’s bloodstream.
Seriously, I love this so much. You could build an entire episode around it. Nano My Business or something like that, and takes place after Masters of All Time but before Kindred Spirits. (Episode pitch below cut)
Danny notices Jazz has been behaving a bit weird lately. He puts it down to her working too hard studying for her college entrance exams, but when she passes through some kind of electromagnetic field (perhaps generated by the latest malfunctioning Fenton ghost device), she collapses and goes into a coma.
At the hospital, the doctors can't find anything wrong with her. Danny just knows it's something ghost-related (insert macguffin here?) but he can't talk to his parents about it because it'd mean revealing his secret identity. (He considers it seriously, though, because he's so worried about Jazz.) But he knows who might be able to help him.
Danny, Sam and Tucker steal the Specter Speeder and crash a Superbowl party being held at Vlad's Wisconsin castle. Vlad isn't pleased, but Danny doesn't care.
"You owe me and my parents for finding the cure to your ecto-acne," he reminds him, and Vlad grudgingly agrees to visit Jazz in the hospital and covertly scan her with some of his own ghost gadgets or maybe the macguffin mentioned previously.
Eventually they discover that the nanobots, without any programming to guide them, have gone rogue and are attacking Jazz's body. She's going to die if they don't do something.
"Unfortunately, you destroyed my controller, Daniel," Vlad tells him bluntly, "otherwise I would have been able to initiate the self-destruct sequence and dissolve them. I'm afraid there's nothing we can do for her now. Pity. She was a brilliant girl, so much like your mother."
Danny's eyes go green. Cue the first onscreen, purely human fistfight between Danny Fenton and Vlad Masters, though really it's just Danny leaping on Vlad in a blind rage and punching him repeatedly while Vlad tries to shield himself. Tucker and Sam manage to drag Danny off of him and restrain him.
"This is all your fault!" Danny screams through his tears, but he knows in his heart Vlad is right. If he hadn't destroyed the controller, they wouldn't be here watching his sister get slowly poisoned by nanobots.
Tucker is the one who poses the million-dollar hypothesis: "Wait, these nanobots just need a new program to overwrite them, right? Something that'll take control of them?"
Three pairs of eyes stare him.
"Don't we know a ghost who regularly takes over technology and reprogams it to do what he wants?"
All four of them start at each other for a beat, then start scrambling for the Specter Speeder.
Once more, Danny and Vlad are forced to team up and work toward a common goal. It's a race against time to find Technus in the Ghost Zone and convince/bribe/threaten him into doing what they want—if it can even be done.
But of course they succeed. At the last minute, Technus removes the nanobots (maybe they all flock to him like a trillion little baby chicks and, charmed, he absorbs them), and Jazz is now safe. Danny traps Technus in a Fenton Flash Drive™ per their arrangement but promises to let him out to have fun in a little while. Jazz wakes up, hugs ensue, Maddie runs to her daughter weeping with joy, Jack tackles Vlad, thanking him for his unwavering support during this difficult time, and Vlad wiggles his way out of Jack's embrace and flees the hospital as fast as he can. Danny, Jazz, Sam and Tucker share a few closing words, then iris out.
Psych!
Back in Wisconsin, Vlad returns to his Superbowl party but finds a strange flash drive in his pocket. Curiosity wins over common sense, and he plugs it into his laptop.
"Holy hectobytes!" Technus shrieks in his Gilbert Gottfried voice. "The ghost boy wasn't kidding! Just look at this spiffy new playground!"
Technus is unleashed through the WiFi, to Vlad's abject horror, and takes over every TV screen, radio, and electronic device in his castle—including his home network and private server. The party descends into screaming chaos, champagne pyramids crashing over, cheese logs going airborne, just million-dollar mayhem. Green and gold pandemonium.
The camera settles on Vlad's tired face. "I should have seen that one coming."
The end!

Caught in the Crush [AO3]
Armand/Daniel - Explicit - 2,903
This is my last entry for this year's @vampirefest's Kinktober, written for the prompt "Fingers."
Armand, feeling a little dismissed and uncertain at Court, finds comfort in his only fledgling, Daniel.
Short and sweet, probably a little too soft for a Kinktober prompt, but it's still erotic.
Armand really loves Daniel's hands and fingers and you can't convince me otherwise.
Short Excerpt:
Daniel has long, elegant fingers. They’re pale now, ivory with gleaming nails, neatly trimmed before his turning so they always look pristine. Armand watches as those fingers drum against the leg of his jeans, a small but sure sign the boy is anxious to be set free of this impromptu meeting.
Armand, too, wishes it would end but though this is a not planned gathering, important business is being discussed. Something about a small group of young immortals who are causing a ruckus in Atlanta. They will need to be handled.
Armand knows how to handle such nubile young vampires. He even says it once, just for good measure. He tries not to feel the sting in the chest when Marius and Lestat all but ignore him and continue talking. Gabrielle, of all people, is the one who suggests Armand has a point - maybe these young ones aren’t worth saving.
Daniel says nothing. He doesn’t even seem to be paying attention. He just happened to be here when the discussion erupted around him and he’s not getting involved. Armand almost admires his aloofness.
Daniel pulls at a string that’s come loose from the hem of his t-shirt, winding it around his long finger. He has deft hands and a delicate touch, and Armand imagines him putting those skills to better use somewhere private.

Warning: this post contains spoilers from the comics The Sandman. I don't know why I bother because these books were written 30 years ago and Google will tell you how it ends in a second, but oh, well, I feel like being nice today.
So many people call Morpheus' death a suicide... And argue that the show should change it, that it should be framed more as an unavoidable sacrifice... Or even "better", changed so it becomes a happy ending.
And good news people! I won't argue with you on that. I'm just posting because I'm wondering: can it be really called a *suicide*? Is it even a death?
Okay, I hear you growl from here. Yeah, I know. Morpheus pretty much dies, he takes his sister's hand and disappears, yada yada. It is a death. Sort of. But then, the Endless are just not... They're not people. They can never die like we die, because they are concepts that wil keep existing as long as there will be living beings who will believe in the existence of these concepts.
So when I see the ending of The Sandman denounced as some sort of glorification of suicide as "the only way out" I humbly wonder if it's not a bit of simplification of what the story has to say, you know? And before my post is taken as a judgement over Sandman fans who feel this way: it's NOT. I actually understand this point of view for the reason that I used to feel that way too. I was terribly tempted by suicide when I was younger, and like an old bad habit it keeps coming back and forth when I'm at lowest; for this reason TKO made me uncomfortable first, and my guts also told me that the show had to, not necessarily change the ending, but at least make Morpheus' death look less like a suicide.
But then I re-read TKO, and I read meta. Doing both made me realize that by sympathizing with Morpheus as if he was a human being, I had forgotten something ESSENTIAL about him: he's not human. And he's not only Morpheus: he's Dream of the Endless before being Morpheus. Morpheus is a persona, more than a person. Therefore I think that his "death" is interpreted wayyyyy to literally by the fandom. Just like the fact that he's "replaced" by Daniel is often interpreted as something negative that implies that Morpheus was not good enough, while I'm convinced it was not at all the intent that Neil Gaiman had in mind.
There's something very important that Dream says at some point: it's that one has to change or die. Morpheus couldn't change, so from his point of view, he had to die. But as I said earlier, Dream as a concept can't die! Of course, he could have chosen like Destruction to abandon his functions, but it's a decision that Morpheus should have taken, and we know he was too binded by the rules and responsibilities to take this decisions. He would have never done that because it was against his nature. Which meant, Dream had to change of persona. Morpheus would die, but Dream would change. And what better to serve humanity, than a being who was as much a human as he was a dream?
We tend to consider Daniel as an entity totally separated from Morpheus, but 1) Daniel was conceived in the Dreaming, making him a part of Morpheus (it's not to be cruel that Morpheus told Lyta her baby was a part of the Dreaming, and that in consequence he would come to take him. He was just stating a fact: everything created in the Dreaming belongs to the Dreaming/him). 2) when Daniel becomes Dream, he doesn't just get a job: all that Morpheus used to be, his family, his memories.... He gets them too.
In conclusion, for me, interpreting Morpheus' death as a suicide is too literal. I think that it's rather a very poetic story that translates the changes that we must all go through at some point in our life, even if it's painful. We, like Dream, must sometimes change our point of view on life, otherwise we will miss what's really important. Sometimes, the change is so big and scary it can feel like a death; the death of what we used to be, the death of childhood, the death of our youth, etc... But it's only a feeling, because like Dream, what we go through is necessary a transformation. We, too, must change.... Or die.
I said in a previous thread that contrary to what is often believed, Morpheus trading his place with Daniel is not a 180° change for Dream: he's the result of a change that started occurring a long time ago. His hair is white because his point of view is new, untainted. He's Dream of the Endless starting anew, but with Morpheus' experience to guide him.
Maybe it's why Morpheus is turned into a star after his death? Is he a guiding star for Daniel!Dream?
Sorry of there's a lot of typos, I may come back to it later for edits but I don't have time now.... I just wanted to say at the end that in my humble opinion, the comics don't spread a bad message that should be changed for the show, because "just kill yourself if you're unhappy" has never been the message of The Sandman. I think however it should be made less confusing than it is for the average viewer, especially since Morpheus!Dream often looks more like a cute blue eyed teenager than like an ethereal immortal being. It's hard to forget he's not "just some lil' guy", so of course his upcoming death will be even harder to stomach...

just some 9-1-1 headcanons/plot bunnies
so i've kinda gone on a 9-1-1 deep dive that started out casual and rapidly turned into an obsession. a few things to note, i definitely think that buck and eddie have something (whether it's romantic or queerplatonic is up for grabs but there's something beyond friendship there and no one can convince me otherwise) and i am a strong subscriber to any tropes that strongly encourage found family/families so...make of that what you will
anyway, after binging all of the available episodes, i have several headcanons that i want to put out there (for some reason a lot of them are from season 5???)
ana realizing that there's more to eddie and buck's relationship than it seems in that scene from s5e2 when she brings christopher to the station. buck clocks that eddie has started panicking immediately and ana just like. *looks* at him for a few seconds in a way that just makes me think that this woman clocked that they have a deeper than normal connection to one another. that or she's heard about buck but obviously has never seen eddie and buck interact and is suddenly realizing exactly what people keep trying to tell her about
a buck/eddie-focused exploration of the aftermath of 'brawl in cell block 9-1-1'. buck freaking out once mitchell's been carted off to get his heart taken out and refusing to let eddie go anywhere while checking him for injuries, eddie having some uncomfortable realizations about just how affected buck was by the whole experience. personally, i feel that would lead to them actually talking about the sniper and all the mess that goes with it
lots of potential for temporary angst with eddie having a lot of big feelings about having failed as a husband in his marriage to shannon and not wanting to get married again b/c of it (thinks he doesn't deserve another shot at it? thinks there's something fundamentally wrong with him to where he can't? don't know how this would manifest exactly). personally, i see this eventually leading to him and buck realizing that they're more or less functionally married and they may as well reap some tax benefits from it but you can do whatever you want with that
buck goes to the funerals of many of the people who die on calls that he's a part of. it's mostly people that he directly worked on and he doesn't tend to tell anyone that he's a first responder that was involved (b/c of how devon's sister reacted in s1) but he does go to them.
kinda of tied to the headcanon above this but! buck getting adopted by a bunch of older queer folk following the deaths of mitchell and thomas in s2. he goes to the joint funeral that was planned for the two of them, in part b/c he wants/needs to and in part bc he accidentally took a few photos from the scrapbook from the scene (he shoved them in his pocket on instinct when thomas collapses). anyway, he shows up and the older queer community has rallied to show up at the funeral and they recognize him as someone who needs more found family and just adopt him into their ranks. i could see the 118 finding out about this soon after it happens or not until years later; maybe karen and hen finding out sooner than everyone else but buck asks them to keep it quiet?
s5e14 where jee-yun gets sick? what if it actually WAS leukemia and she somehow ends up needing some sort of donation (plasma? bone marrow? idk really anything about how cancer is treated). jee's put on a list and they start testing family members, none of whom work out until...buck. cue maddie not wanting to ask that of buck b/c of all the baggage that comes with daniel and the buckley parents are absolute assholes about it (along the lines of completely disregarding buck's autonomy as a human being in the face of their precious granddaughter being in trouble), maybe a chimney that isn't trying to be pushy about it but also just...can't help pushing a bit, a buck that so overwhelmed with everything that he's feeling that he goes off the rails a bit. obviously everything works out and buck donates or whatever needs to happen and jee-yun is completely fine b/c i don't actually want it to end badly
the entire 'buck's a sperm donor' family argument and maraget saying "you're a miracle baby yourself" made my fucking blood boil and i want to see a better exploration of the fallout of that statement b/c you just know that there was more to it than it just getting brushed off
buck telling maddie that he has a checklist that he goes through every time he wakes up post-coma in s6e12. chris and eddie being part of that list, where buck is just constantly checking up on them to make sure that they're still in LA (part of the reason why it's so easy for him to fall asleep/relax on the diaz couch or in their house in general). eddie doesn't notice the uptick in check-ins b/c he's too busy figuring out the least intrusive ways for him to check in on buck at all times b/c he NEEDS to know that buck is alive/breathing. once eddie notices though, he confronts buck about it
maddie asking buck to be her maid of honor for her wedding since hen is obviously going to have best man privileges. mostly just exploring the ridiculous that this brings up and everyone joking about buck in a dress (up to you whether he actually wears one to the wedding or not), but i have to include a side note that the buckley parents are dicks about it and have no sense of humour/fun
literally anything featuring athena being worried about buck as a maternal figure, i was so disappointed by her lack of interaction when buck was struck by lightning and, while i'm so fucking happy to have may acknowledging that buck is bobby's son too, we missed out on athena being devastated by the situation as well
there will probably be more of these to come at some point knowing myself.

How you kiss
Jonah Hauer-King
Jonah is a pretty private person and can easily be flustered, so he won't be one to show a lot of PDA in public. He will occasionally press a kiss to your cheek, temple or on top of your head, but it is only in private when he will actually really kiss you. He'll just look at you, his eyes flicking between your eyes and lips and he'll playfully brush his nose over yours, letting you be the one to actually connect your lips.
While he will not really kiss you in public, he will more than make up for it when you two are together. He'll take any chance he can to coax you into giving him a kiss and proceed to teasingly pepper your lips with small kisses before ending up giving you a good, deep kiss.
Tom Glynn-Carney
Tom is a tease and you cannot convince me otherwise. He would not be big on PDA, but not against it either. He'll just lean in and brush his lips on yours, waiting for you to kiss back before really deepening the kiss. And sometimes, even though you kiss back, he'd just pull back with a smirk, enjoying the flustered look on your face when he teases you.
His kisses are either very sweet and soft or hot and passionate and there is no inbetween.
Ewan Mitchell
(I couldn't find any gifs of one of his characters kissing, sorry)
Ewan is a private person, but if you were dating for a while he definitely wouldn't mind showing the world you were his. While not going overboard when in public, if you'd find a quiet little place, he would slip his arm around your waist and kiss you.
I think everyone can agree that Ewan is a pretty good flirt and quite a tease. When you're alone together he wouldn't mind teasing you and just keep peppering you with kisses all over your face before surprising you with a deep kiss on the lips.
Matt Smith
Matt is the kind of man who knows how to use the combination of sweet and passionate. When you two are alone, he will sometimes just cup your face in his hands and kiss you to show how much he loves you.
Even in public, he will just kiss you if he feels like it.
And when you pull away, he would just look at you, smiling, as if he can't believe how lucky he got to have you.
Joseph Morgan
Joseph is not someone who kisses often, but when he does, you just know he means it. It's soft and slow and you can actually just feel the love that goes into it.
He will hold you close, cup your cheek and brush his thumb along your bottom lip before pressing a featherlight kiss over your lips that will have you feel woozy for days. He'll then gently pull you in closer, his hands resting gently on your hips, and continue exchanging soft kisses. Every one of which as if it were the first.
Daniel Gillies
Daniel is a tease. Let's not pretend like this man is not an absolute menace.
He'll steal a few kisses and sometimes pretend to go in for a kiss, only to kiss your cheek instead. Then, when he's had enough of his teasing, he'll pull you in and gently grab your jaw, holding your head in place as he gives you a proper kiss.
Kisses are either very teasing or fast and hungry.
Paul Wesley
Paul is a gentleman when it comes to kissing. Probably one of the only things in which he is...
He will cradle the back of your neck, using it to pull you in for a kiss. They are usually chaste and sweet and he'll sometimes playfully nip at your bottom lip, taking pride in seeing you blush when he does so, knowing you were really his.
Ian Somerhalder
Ian's kisses are slow and passionate and usually a little sloppy.
He'll hold you close with his hands on your waist or in your hair and just kiss you like he doesn't have a care in the world. He likes to take his time too, making sure you feel how much he desires you.
Chris Wood
Chris is passionate about the people he cares about, especially those he actually loves. If he could, he'd spend all day cuddling with and kissing you.
He would hold onto you, coaxing you into kissing him by teasingly nipping at your jawline and once you'd finally do, he would instantly deepen the kiss and show you just how much he loves you. He'd whisper affectionate words against your lips, his lips never leaving yours.
Jensen Ackles
Jensen is who enjoys kisses, even the small ones. A quick kiss before going to work or doing some shopping or when one of you comes home.
It is on date night when he really goes all out, making sure that everything was perfect. He would look at you and ask if he could kiss you, and of course you happily oblige. He'd let you be the one to make the first actual move and smile as he feels your lips on his. Then he'd probably make a cheeky comment or joke after pulling away that either makes you laugh or earns a 'suffering parent face'.
Jared Padalecki
Jared is cheeky and playful, which shines through in his kisses.
He'll take any opportunity to kiss you, starting small and soft, but almost always ending up in a deep and passionate kiss.
He will hold you and sometimes just pick you up, peppering your lips with cheeky kisses.
Matthew Daddario
Matt is goofy, but besides his work, the one thing he is really serious in is you.
His kisses never mean nothing. He is not always good with words, especially when you are concerned, and so he'll use his mouth instead.
If he's sad or upset the kiss itself will be quick, but he'll linger so you can feel his breath on your lips. If he's happy the kiss will be more playful and he'll nibble on your lip and if he's excited he'll let his tongue trace over your lips.
Needless to say, his kisses are enough to let you know just how much he adores you.
Dominic Sherwood
Dom is a little shy/hesitant at first, but when he feels your lips, nothing can stop him from showing how much he loves you.
He doesn't really care about PDA and whether you're alone together or on the street, he'll give you a kiss.
He likes to hold you close when you kiss, making sure that you feel just how much you want him in every second you have together.
Dylan O'Brien
Dylan would kiss you as if he had been starving and you were the last piece of chocolate on Earth.
His kisses seem as if they last an eternity but only a second at the same time and he'll take the opportunity to kiss you at every chance he had.
In public he'll stick to chaste kisses, with friends and families short but sweet kisses, but it is when you two are alone together that he will grab your face and slowly pull you in closer. His eyes seem to be devouring you before he presses his lips to yours and kisses you like there's no tomorrow.
Tom Holland
Tom kisses you as if every kiss might be the last.
Slow and full of love with his arms wrapped securely around your waist. When his lips are on yours, there is no power on Earth that can convince him to let you go.
Josh Hutcherson
Josh's kisses are pretty comparible to Everlark.
Slow and a little hesitant sometimes, but filled with the most pure form of love. Every kiss with Josh would serve as a reminder for the love you hold for each other.
Tom Blyth
Tom's kisses are really sweet and slow.
He's pretty affectionate when it comes to the physical level, taking his time in conveying his love for you through the simple act of a kiss.
He'll likely hold your face in one way or another when he kisses you, making sure that he can feel you're actually there and he isn't just dreaming.

Hello, hello it's me 👋🏽
Okay so, there's something you mentioned about Claudia on this post here:
(Sorry, for some reason it's actually not letting me add the post link. So maybe if you want you can add it in your "answer" post so others can check that out as well)
I can quote you though: "I also believe Claudia has the mind gift which effected the process" In reference to ep 5 -- we all know what scene.
I wanted to ask you, can you expand on what you meant in saying you think she has the "mind gift" AND how did it effect the process, or why do you think it did?
-- One of the reasons why I had such a strong reaction to that statement, is because while it's possible that I may be living under a rock about it. I have yet to see anyone else even mention it. And there's a very specific scene in the show that always stumps me, and I always considered something along those lines may be possible. But I just haven't seen literally anyone else talk about it. So I've just kept it to myself. So I'd love to know what your meta, or theory or analysis is on this --
Okay so first of all Claudia can block Louis out of her head and I think a young vampire fledgling who is 19 years old can't do that . Louis himself wasn't able to do that even though he was older than Claudia .
When Claudia goes out on a date with Charlie , charlie stated that he can't do it with Claudia because she looked so young but Claudia convinced him otherwise & it looked intense she wasn't being a cute girl on her first date she wanted charlie & she got him to do it with her . Either charlie was so attracted to her that didn't mind the age 😬 or Claudia used some mind gift on him . I think she didn't know if it's a power or not yet . At that point she just did it anyway.
But In Ep 5 when she came back to the house to take Louis I think she knew she had the power she didn't know what it was but she knew she could use it on Louis or even Lestat . I think if she wants to use it intentionally to get something she would do it very well . She came in & created a situation in which the argument started first between herself & Lestat & then she got Louis involved . She damn well knew Louis is Lestat's trigger point she damn well knew Louis wouldn't leave Lestat without seeing him actually hurt him or Claudia she damn well knew Lestat wouldn't let go of Louis easily . Go back & look at how Claudia is talking to Louis in his head in comparison to how she said some stuff louder , her eyes get bigger & more determined & angry while she's talking to Louis in his head . And when Lestat said read her Louis she changed the subject completely on Lestat's insecurities instead of her own . Which eventually blocked Louis to not be able to read her at that moment . And then she gave the last shot : let's be vampires with vampires worthy of your love . As if I'm the only one who is worthy of your love not Lestat . And Lestat couldn't do anything even when he yelled as if he was trying to take his mind out of control of Claudia's mind but he couldn't .
When Claudia went to the pharmacy she wanted a drug which was very dangerous & forbidden especially if you're a 14 year old kid . She wrote on a piece of paper & the pharmacist just gave it to her 😯
Both in the books & on the show She convinced Louis to do something he didn't like to do . She made him believe he wanted to kill Lestat while Louis didn't want that & if he did , he wanted to do it for Claudia . Louis hurts Lestat just to protect Claudia . After Louis killed Lestat on the show he became hateful of Claudia for awhile and Daniel called it out & we saw how Louis pushed Claudia to the wall & also in one of Jacob's recent interviews about S2 he mentioned that they're having problems . In the book when Louie took Lestat to the swamp he started to actually understand who he had killed it's the same on the show Louis realized what actually happened after Lestat was dead . As if he was under some kinda influence to that . In the book when Claudia was slitting Lestat's throat Louis wanted to jump in but Claudia yelled at him to stay away & do nothing so again some kinda mind gift I sense here & there .
Most importantly , in the recent trailer Armand who is the master of mind gift himself told Louis that she's good at shielding her thoughts & that's coming from Armand so he might have sensed something too . And I personally think even in the book Armand noticed that & besides wanting Louis to himself he killed her off Bc she would have been a threat to herself & Louis & himself & others .

Can you please expand on your tags? I would like to hear your thoughts.
it's wild to me that anyone would even ask why there are so few solo louies because if you've had the misfortune of being around since the ot4 disintegration then you've seen how anyone who cares about his artist career has been pushed out. but the fact that fans were pushed out is exactly why that question is asked. bc his music is so good it makes no sense that his fandom is essentially scraps from other fandoms.
but the fandom was never there for artist louis. larries wanted him to be a the voice coach; hets wanted him to be a family man living in a commune. he is the accessory to whichever dream scenario you have. he can't do festival shows because he's raising his siblings, don't you know? he can't do festival shows because he's hiding from the BTS cameras in jamaica.
i was declared an untouchable ~rad~ because i didn't like harry's pr and "new image" -- but the majority of declared rads didn't even talk about harry. i could list the accounts that were focused on business and were chased off by e**ie with the same lies that live on now, years and years later, with such conviction they could never be convinced otherwise. i hate harry but i have never said or done what these people accuse me of.
anyone declared ~rad~ is excised from the fandom with surgical precision. block them from all UAs and gifmakers, if they participate in any fests, helpful users will join in and WARN PEOPLE of the DEVIL!!
maybe that goes back to the sony slides that emphasise that he is a package deal. but it's gone beyond hets. people who meet him, the stalker fans and others do it with a mission: what did he say about harry? about danielle eleanor freddie briana? what did he look like when he asked? did he smile??? he's a weathervane, and that's what he should be.
i also blame LTHQ, because they've made absolutely zero effort to foster a healthy fanbase based on his own output. from headlines about 'eleanors boyfriend' or 'freddie's dad' -- propaganda works. he's a footnote in other people's stories. and if you challenge that, you are the threat.
it's been enough years now that tired fans tried to wait and make an effort but you can only do so much. especially with an unreceptive hostile fandom, and HQ that would rather have piggyback fans.
"why are there so few solo louies" because fandom follows the leader. and if you don't, you're an island of your own, cut off. you might last a while like so many did, but eventually the returns are too few to be worth it.
#i feel like i'm just repeating myself endlessly but also#probably not the same people that are around is it?#LTHQ has perpetuated this do not get it twisted#and that has amplified my own bitterness by a gazillion but !#fandom#1discourse#propaganda works yall!#that's the short of it

Heirs of the Founders: The Epic Rivalry of Henry Clay, John Calhoun and Daniel Webster, the Second Generation of American Giants by H. W. Brands was given to me by my BIL as a joke. I have an on-going joke about one of the men in that title-- one I have been torturing my friends and family about for almost a decade now.
My BIL thought it would be funny if he gave me a book about said man. I thought it was about time I read it.
This book was a pain in the ass. I started this thing back in January, and it took me the full month and a half to read. The book isn't too long, but no matter how much I sat down to read it, I never felt like I made any progress. But I couldn't stop reading it, because I knew I was never finish it otherwise.
And now that I read it (and wrote out my thoughts), I’m sure I hate it.
On one hand, I like history. It was written in a very narrative way, and it was nice to get a reminder that American politics have always been a shit show.
On the other, the scope of this book was really limited. It's not about the lives of Clay, Calhoun, or Webster; but it doesn't offer a comprehensive enough look at the politics of the time to be about their careers. You cannot tell me that there wasn't a contemporaneous Black author who wrote about their policies on slavery as it was being debated.
It's not like there wasn't other figures of American history that wasn't explored. The presidents of the time were given full exposes, and there was multiple chapters on Solomon Northup. But often, Brands would reduce alternative stances to "abolitionists disagreed." Who disagreed? What was their name and what exactly did they say?
All that to say that the way the book talked about slavery was mostly okay. Again, it's limited but it was frank. The country is at a stage where if a book doesn't try to mince the evils of slavery I have to appreciate it.
But you want to know what this book did mess up? Native American history and rights.
First, Brands committed to referring to Native Americans as "Indians." This book was published in 2018.
Second, the Indian Removal Act was skimmed over, if not almost completely ignored. There is a quick reference to it at the end of a chapter about a British journalist's thoughts on Henry Clay. Allegedly, Clay made such an impassioned speech against the act that tears welled in his eyes. That seems like something worth mentioning in a book about Henry Clay's life.
I am convinced this is because Brands adores Andrew Jackson. We spent a lot of time on Jackson's military career and presidency. Everything Brands had to say about Jackson was positive. Was the infamous story of Jackson beating a man with his cane mentioned? No. Did I have to read about how Jackson was a man of honor and principal? Yes. Constantly.
I only finished this book out of sheer stubbornness. I just feel frustrated. This book felt imbued with that American mythologism that makes engaging with any American pop history a minefield to navigate. If I cared a bit more, I would google Brands to see what his politics are.
As is, I just never want to look at this book again. I can't even confidently say I learned anything as I can feel the burning holes of the book's limited perspectives and biases. How can I trust what little I thought I learned when Brands is obviously not telling the whole story. Just look at Andrew Jackson.
#thank god it's over and i'm free now#this book did remind me how fascinated i was with the erie canal as a kid#some kids was obsessed with egypt or ancient greece#me? i was obsessed with the erie canal#i was so lame#me rambling#me reading#heirs of the founders#heirs of the founders by hw brands#hw brands#bookish#books#bookblr

Hey, how's it going? Yeah? Nice to know...anyways...*transes your mystreet characters and runs off*
Terrible bit aside here's a list of MYS characters who i think are trans in some way;
KC- I don't think I have to explain it because it's extremly popular among a lot of people, but KC definitely a hyper-fem trans woman trying to relive her childhood she never got as a young girl.
Laurence- trans man, no one dyes and cuts their hair like that and isn't trans, you can't convince me otherwise.
Emmalyn- trans woman, soft core lady, library ass aesthetic and she rocks the fuck out of it.
Kenmur- trans man, I've said it before, I'll say it again; dude has so much T-Boy swag it's unbearable. It's why they could only have him in one episode, it was too much swag.
Katelyn- demiflux, goes by he/she/they and loves masculine terms, but also uses femanine terms still and likes both, dresses more femanine but physically appears more masculine.
Travis- this is a neopronouns user (/pos). Don't ask what his gender is, even he doesn't know.
Zane- nonbinary he/they, very much a "i don't owe you andrgeny" person when someone tells them they look to masculine to be nonbinary.
Vylad- trans man, definitely had one of those "uwu soft, space trans boy" phases in middle school
Daniel- trans man, I have no reasoning, he just is, because I say so.
Kim- trans girl, definitely one who never corrected people when they misgendered her when she was younger because of her anxiety, but she does now.
Ein- trans man. I can't explain it, he just is (IN MY REWRITE PERCEPTION OF HIM, FUCK CANON EIN HE SUCKS)
Sylvana- nonbinary, didn't really know what it was until Aphmau told her about it and then had a "oh..I..kinda feel like that?" moment. Still uses femanine terms most times (ie. Lady, Ma'am, mother, ect.)
Eric- trans man, he just has t-man energy.
Garte- transman, another one I have no explination for, just hear me out-
Ziana- trans woman, was part of an all trans girls idol group back in highschool.
Derek- trans man, again, I can't explain it, he just is.
Okay, yeah that's about it. Hope ya enjoyed.

about daniel in year 3: a slapdash sort-of-character-analysis of daniel's identity issues
SPOILERS FOR YEAR 3
to start off i made a post about him but i deleted bc it felt to unpolished but the jist of it is that i thought daniel to be a traumatized child with a desperate want for agency and control. and i those still stand so far.
i think one thing this year highlighted and something i didn't mention is how people's expectations of him based on his family also gave him like mad identity issues. it was more subtle in year 1 and 2 but it really hit the fan this time around (i mean. i guess being extorted and having the only family member possibly permanently damaged fucks you up).
i talked a little with chemzee too about their theory in daniel using self-deception as a coping mechanism and i honestly agree with it. i can't go into much detail about it rn but basically chemzee esplained their theory in which daniel uses self-deception as a coping mechanism, stating examples where he tries to convince himself he's a good person, and taht he's mother's a good person, not just from a genuine belief that the law is flawed, but because he fears what it would mean otherwise. there's also part's where he tries to convince himself the he is a criminal much like his family, and that he's got nothing to care about, most likely to try and soften the blow of people constantly telling him he is a criminal and certain others trying to tell him to just embrace what he "is".
how this related to how i interpret his identity issues is that he's constantly trying to convince he's this and he's that because it gives himself a sense of identity which also gives him a sense of agency.
by the end of chapter 7 his character feels more vague and muddled and while it could be just me being tired from fighting all the bosses to get to the damn end and having trouble parsing what's going on, looking back maybe it feels like that because daniel trying to actually see and embrace himself as an individual instead trying to "embrace" what he convinced himself to be. like he stopped insisting on what he was and started reflecting on what he is, and what he wants to become.
additionally as much he still comes off a little unsure it feels like he's also gained a little more footing in terms of confidence in himself and his decisions, like he's trying to move forward and get himself together but in a different way this time around. especially with him apparently joining NOTME. like it feels like a huge weight's finally off his shoulders but his shoulders are still recovering from carrying that weight.
i still do worry about him joining not me under elliot (he still gives me red flag vibes) but hopefully by year 4 we get to see him and esme doing better. (and that he writes to us or ivy for once lmao).
on and unrelated note there is an "Extra Story" yearbook so there better be a hogsmeade vacation story in there hwere it's all fluffy and cute and awesome. like a break from the trauma please.

DOCTOBER '23 ⸺ 「 29 / 31 * 2023 」
June 27, 2023
❝Anything you've gotta say, Ellie, you can say it. I promise your old man can handle it,❞ Marty says, giving his daughter the very same look he's given Doc time-and-time again when he was absolutely serious.
Ellie rolls her eyes. ❝All I said, Dad, was that you should probably sit down. Not that you'd have a heart attack or something. I've got news, that's all.❞
Marty's expression immediately sours as his mind leaps to worst-case scenarios. Trouble, he thinks, my baby girl's gotten herself into trouble, hasn't she? He can't help the way he worries and Ellie, upon catching sight of the shift in her father's expression, immediately frowns.
❝I didn't even tell you the news yet! At least wait before you start making faces like that!❞
Marty waves a hand. ❝Sorry, I'm sorry. I'm just afraid you're about to tell me you're about to join some gang and you've already gotten bionic implants you haven't told me about.❞
Jen snickers at his side and Marty sputters. ❝Hey, it's not funny, Jen! You've seen what those things can do.❞
❝Oh Marty, relax.❞ Jen puts a comforting hand on his shoulder. ❝At least let her tell us the news before you start overreacting.❞
He huffs but says nothing else as Ellie mouths a silent thank you to her mother.
❝Now Dad, you remember Dan, right?❞
How could he forget?
He still remembers the day when Ellie, nineteen, brought him home for dinner and introduced him as her boyfriend, much to his dismay. Sure, he and Jen were high school sweethearts, deeply in love and already envisioning a future together at that age, but it was different with his daughter.
Daniel Locarno, a software engineer, with his hazel eyes, kind face, and short blonde hair, always looking at Ellie with that look in his eye, like she was the only person in the entire room.
He was a nice boy, all things considered. Never did anything to prove otherwise. Jen certainly liked him. Marty had no real issues with him.
❝I'm not senile yet, y'know.❞ Jen doesn't even try and hide her grin, nor does Ellie. ❝Of course I remember Dan; what's this got to do with him?❞
Ellie and Jen share a look that makes Marty deeply suspicious and he starts to suspect he should have heeded her warning and taken a seat when he had the chance.
❝Well❞—it's only now Marty notices that she's standing with her hands clasped behind her back like she's hiding something—❝I told you that we were going on holiday for about a week and a half.❞
To Denmark. He remembers.
Marty nods slowly, unsure if he really wants to hear the end of this story.
Ellie's eyes sparkle and dread drops a boulder in his stomach that could crush him. ❝Dad, Dan proposed! He asked me to marry him and I said yes. We're engaged!❞
She finally pulls her hands from her back to show off her ring and the diamond doesn't hold a candle to the size of the rock currently weighing Marty down. He tries to smile, but all he can feel are his eyes threatening to fall out of his head as he stares.
Jen beams, clasping her hands together in a show of excitement. ❝Honey, it's beautiful! And about time, too. You've been dating for six years now. Your father didn't work up the nerve to propose until '89, but when he did, oh, it was so romantic.❞
Marty waves his hands. ❝Wait, wait, wait! He didn't even ask me! Your dad gave me hell when I asked him for his blessing!❞
❝My dad was convinced I was making a mistake dating a musician whose music probably wasn't going to go anywhere. Don't you remember the look on his face when your band announced they were going on tour?❞
❝Yeah I remember, but that's not the point and you know it.❞
Jen clicks her tongue. ❝You know things are different now. It's been almost forty years since then.❞
Marty narrows his eyes as alarm bells blare in his mind. ❝You knew, didn't you?❞ Jen shrugs, but the unapologetic smile on her face gives her away. ❝And you didn't tell me! How long did you know this was happening?❞
❝Oh, probably since the end of last month.❞ Marty has to remind himself how to breathe. ❝You were out at the studio when Dan came by; he told me everything. I gave him our blessing.❞
I think I need to sit down after all.
❝So, have you decided a date yet?❞
#doctober 2023#out of the two of them marty is definitely the more mother hen parent you can't tell me otherwise#they both love their kids so much but jen is like have fun but be smart/safe about it#and though you'd think marty would be that parent he's like 'my kids!!!' and worries#lets them live their lives of course but still worries a lot#&; a great idea can change the world 「 hc 」#i just wanted an excuse to write more dad marty and with ellie now being about twenty-five or so here#seems like a good time for this to happen

I remembered the Mommy Sammy loop and I was wondering - what if it was combined with the Little Daniel getting adopted by Big Deal loop? For example, what if Danny is adopted and the whole Johan incident happens soon after, but Sammy decided that she'll take her in under her wing. Female Johan and Samuel would be so cool.
Meanwhile, Danny is growing up and he realizes that Samuel and Johan are girls but Big Deal still hasn't realized it. Cue Daniel casually tring to tell Sinu and Yeonhui and the rest of Big Deal about it and them not believing him because what girl would be as much a psycho as those two (they think this with affection).
It would also be kinda fluffy since Samuel would probably stay with big deal and maybe try to legally become a business mogul (kind of like going to school and still making one mcn, just not with workers).
Idk I just thought it was a cool idea. Sorry for all the rambling.
"All of them are dumbasses," Daniel grumbled, kicking pebbles.
"Mhm." Sammy didn't even bother pretending otherwise, as she completed another test and began checking her answers.
Daniel had just returned from his usual daily attempt at opening Sinu and Jake's eyes regarding Sammy and Johane's gender. It had gone as expected, he got laughed at and sent on his way so the adults could 'do their job' (playing video games until 3 am). He had managed to convince Yeonhui a few weeks ago, as the girl was obviously much less dense than the two dunderheads leading the crew.
The time-looper trapped in a 7-year-old's body gave a long-suffering sigh, crouching near the steps on which his big sister figure was sat.
"They even had the gall to laugh in my face and tell me that I was making stuff up to avoid doing my homework. Can you believe that?!"
"The audacity." Samuel drawled making the tiny boy bristle even harder.
"You aren't even listening to me!" He shouted in annoyance, maybe a bit too loud for how late at night it was.
'Yep, definitely too loud' he sweatdropped when the lights in the building behind them turned on. A ruffled, half-asleep brown-haired girl made her way out after a few beats of silence, followed closely by her loyal companion. Eden took one look at them, deciding that whatever human business they were doing didn't affect him, and headed back in after a large yawn. Johane looked tempted to follow his example.
"What are you two doing?" She asked instead, plopping down beside Sammy. "You know you're going to ruin your eyes like that, right?"
Sammy looked up at her. She had a flashlight strapped to her head and was checking her answers in pink glitter pen while the book was precariously balanced on one of her knees. The buff girl pointedly pushed her glasses up her nose.
"You know what I meant." Johane huffed "You're going to damage your eyes even more, then you'll have to wander around like a blind bat before age 30. And what's gotten in you, pup, why'd you shout at 1 in the morning like a damn prairie dog?"
The child shuffled his feet, the tips of his ears reddening.
"I didn't mean for it to be that loud. It's just that the guys-"
"What guys?"
"Sinu and Jake" Sammy supplied
"-are being such idiots that it's starting to really irk me!"
Johane paused, probably still a bit slow from tiredness and trying to gather her thoughts and articulate them in a kid-friendly way.
"Did you just now notice?" Was all she managed to come up with. "I mean, they've been like that since-"
"Forever." Sammy completed her sentence, closing the book and turning off the flashlight before turning to face her two younger siblings figures. "So those fuckers can't take the fact that me and her were born with vaginas and boobs. What are you gonna do about it? It's not as if you can force them to change their minds..."
The maniac smirk that spread on the beastie's face (She thought him that! That was her greatest achievement in raising the little hellspawn and no one could deny it!) made her pause. Sammy knew how devious the brat could be, but as she thought back to what she had said offhandedly just now, the Economical Studies students could already predict his thought process.
"Thanks, Sammy! You just gave me a great idea, I knew those crocodiles with lightsabers would come in handy again!" He ran up to the buff girl and gave her a quick peck on the cheek before running off.
"What have we just unleashed?" Sammy pondered out loud.
"And where is my kith?" Johanne slurred already half-leaning onto her shoulder.

some observations about IWTV after my third rewatch - a working doc
S1 spoilers for AMC's Interview with the Vampire (2022) below!
In 1x07, Louis slits Lestat's throat with the very same blade that drew Lestat to him in 1x01 ("It was not until a few nights later, when I watched a man pull a knife out of his walking stick and pressed the blade of it to his brother's breast bone, that I said to myself, 'Lestat, unpack your trunks. You're home!" )
When Loustat have their final dance in 1x07, they're dancing to an instrumental version of Lestat's "Come to Me" 🙃💔
Rashid/Armand says something in Latin to Louis in 1x06, when Daniel is asleep. Turbidus rebus ad infinitum, is what I heard. I'm no Latin expert, but a quick Google search showed something along the lines of "cloudy/troubled things forever". There are so many ways to interpret what he means by that.
Armand doesn't approve of Louis doing this interview, this much we know. He's convinced that, if the book gets published, the vampire masses will seek him out and kill him. But it's not ‘til he says this line, "You are chronicling a suicide," to Daniel, that made me think perhaps Armand isn't controlling Louis quite as much as I originally thought. Of course he's still toxic af, he's still Louis' captor and something weird is definitely going on, but Louis clearly pushed for this hard enough that he got his way. And it makes sense that Armand wants to keep his own identity hidden - he must be scared, right? Scared for Louis' life as well as his own?
Armand's microexpressions give away so much. After Louis says "I'd give it to you now," to Daniel, Armand looks kinda upset? Angry? Confused? Hurt? And then he immediately excuses himself. Clearly this has struck a nerve, and clearly there's history between him and Daniel. YOU CAN'T TELL ME OTHERWISE
After Lestat says "I have a capacity for enduring" in 1x06, the word "endure/endured" is used a handful more times throughout the rest the episode, by both Louis and Claudia. I really like that they resonated with and related to that word, and continue to use it to describe their experiences.
Claudia's question about Nicki must have cut Lestat deep. "Did Nicki kill himself like your maker, Magnus?" Cause, um, if the show is going by book canon? Then, yeah. That's pretty much what happened, more or less.

Talk
the next part to my Vampire Daniel series. Read it below or here
The next two weeks Daniel has more sex than he had on either of his honeymoons. He doesn't deny Armand when he asks, and Armand asks often. It's like he's afraid Daniel will change his mind, and he has to act while he can.
After the first time, the spend the next day in bed making love. Vampire stamina is a boon, making the impossible possible. The days pass in a blur of flesh and blood. They fuck everywhere.
There's Armand taking him on hands and knees in the dining room, hand buried in Daniel's hair tugging him back in time with his thrusts. There's Daniel reading a book in the reading room and Armand crawling into his lap to ride him slow and torturous. Armand swallowing him down in the shower. Daniel bending Armand over a kitchen counter and eating his ass until he cries. Armand wrapped around him on the balcony, barely balanced on the railing and panting Daniel's name. Armand spreading Daniel out on the couch in the living room and spending an eternity kissing, licking and sucking at him until Daniel is desperate.
Daniel feels drunk on sex, his body thrumming with arousal and pleasure. It's been a good two weeks. But at some point, he realizes they need to talk. It's a conversation he's been dreading.
“Can we talk?”
They're in Armand's bed, spread out over the black sheets. Armand has just finished fucking him stupid a few minutes ago. Daniel would be sore if he were still mortal. He kinda misses it.
“But of course, my love.” Armand turns to face Daniel and traces a hand along his side. His hair is a mess and he's so pretty it hurts. He looks relaxed and content. Daniel feels a sharp slice of guilt.
“We can't keep doing this.” Armand's face shutters and he withdraws his hand. Daniel catches it and places a kiss unto the back of it. “Just hear me out.”
“I'm listening.”
“I love you,” says Daniel, because it's true and he's being honest. “But it's not enough. A relationship can't survive on sex and nostalgia alone.”
Armand says nothing, looking at him intensely and waiting for him to finish. Daniel is grateful for it; he doesn't think he could handle Armand's arguing right now. Knows he's too weak to resist if Armand tries to seduce him to stay.
“I'm still mad. You turned me without my permission-” Daniel pauses, waiting for Armand to interject. He doesn't. “I don't forgive you for it, but I want to. I gotta work on it. And I can't work on it here. I need some time to sort things out in my head.”
Armand smiles sadly and reaches out to brush his fingers against Daniel's face. “You're leaving me.”
Daniel takes his hand and twines their fingers together. “Just for awhile.”
Armand looks away. “Where will you go?”
Daniel kisses Armand's hand. “This is a good thing. We need it. We'll implode if I don't find a way to fix this.”
Armand's eyes have tears welling in them. Daniel feels like a jerk. “I'm doing this because I want us to work.”
It's taken awhile to get to this point, but he finds he does. Eternity is long, and he doesn't want to spend it angry at Armand. He loves Armand. And they have forever. What are a few lousy months?
Armand studies his face then nods. A tear slips free and Daniel wipes it away gently. “Don't cry, baby. I'm coming back.”
Armand doesn't believe him, Daniel realizes. He thinks Daniel will leave and never return. Daniel doesn't know what to say to convince him otherwise. “Hey, hey, don't I always come back to you in the end?”
“Ah, but you always leave again.”
“This is the last time, I promise.”
Daniel doesn't know where to go. He'd prefer Louis, but Louis is with Lestat and Daniel would rather not be their third wheel. He supposes that leaves Marius. He's too young of a vampire to be out alone in the world. There are other older vampires that kill fledglings as a matter of course. Armand used to do it himself.
“I'll contact Marius. He'll see that you're cared for,” Armand says.
Daniel slides closer to Armand and pulls him in against him. Armand buries his face in Daniel's chest. Daniel strokes through his hair. “This isn't goodbye, it's just a break. We have forever. And I want to spend it with you. Always have.”
“I'll miss you, Daniel.”
Daniel kisses Armand's temple. “I'll miss you too. But we need this.”
“If you say so.” Armand sounds almost petulant. God, Daniel loves this impossible creature.
“Hey, you know I love you, right?” Daniel says. He wants to be sure. He's doing this because he loves Armand. Because he desperately wants to forgive him and have things work. Armand may not understand that now, but he will, one day.
“I know, Daniel. I love you as well.”
“Then believe me when I say I'll be back.”
Armand looks up into his eyes, face streaked with tears. “And what if you find you can't forgive me?”
Daniel hadn't considered that. He tips Armand's head up and kisses him gently, reverently, before pulling back and pressing their foreheads together. “I don't know, baby. I don't know.”

Finally posting my thoughts on episode 22:
Okay okay so like, Daniel's episode, fucking loved it, and for a moment I did get a bit unjustly mad at PB but it's fine!
Okay so like, first things first, likem, I can't even, think and put my words together for this, but I'll try
While I know that what is likely the canon way for everything to happen is in getting the chillectrical moments, I do think that PB probably didn't play along until Peggy told him to. Either way is in-character but I think with how it's presented that Peter genuinely wasn't interested in playing along until Peggy convinced him otherwise (Also just that line doesn't make as much sense to be there if Peter wasn't previously refusing to play ball, nor does Daniel giving up. But the operative word is "as much"
Daniel quitting halfway through the game when he did feels so real to me, look, I already liked the guy, but seeing him like this was just so...sad.
I think next episode will be pretty fun, mini and GG playing a game together? I wonder how the photos will be gained.
I love the thing of Daniel running games for all the neighborhoods people who wanna join, and I might make something with that if I ever make a CKC fangame.
Daniel's eyes! He's sad and tired as hell throughout the whole thing and magically gets healed of eye bags via the power of friendship, and also his eyes just barely being visible through the darkness in the first screen.
It's interesting to me that the chillectrical moment can be totally missed even if you have enough chillectricity, though another episode might've also done that before and I forgot about it.
Choice lines that I really loved:
Peggy: "Wow Daniel, you look awful!" (In the biggest text the game could fit into one text box)
-
Peter: "I roll to end this conversation"
-
Peggy: THORN WHIP THORN WHIP THORN W- (Now in text so big it runs out of the text box
-
okay like Daniel's entire fucking thing from right at the end of the episode is great and I love it and it's like the best part of the whole episode and I relate so heavily to suddenly pulling an impromptu monologue outta nowhere. But it's kinda long and also it doesn't carry the same weight without playing the episode
My opinion on this episode all in all? "He's just like me frfr"/10.
