Aragorn's surprised to learn Arwen is Elrond's daughter in the RotK appendices not only because elven lifespans means 'whoops, everyone just forgot the little mortal boy needed to be told Elrond has a third child!' but also because on the rare occasions when he heard Elladan and Elrohir talking about some girl named "Arwen," it was them talking about her in a familial way and in relation to how a boy like Estel would have felt about her - i.e. an annoying little girl: "augh remember when arwen threw our quivers onto the roof, all because we wouldn't play goblin tea party with her?" elladan says

"what is goblin tea party even supposed to be?" asks child estel

"making mud and sticks into little cakes and finding more creative ways to insult the other person," elrohir says

"and if you can't come up with a good insult, you get a mud pie to the face," elladan says. "what's she up to nowadays with grandma?"

elrohir says, "last i heard she was learning how to make lembas from three acorns, a burnt doily, and the ground bone-meal of a squirrel. grandma galadriel says you can never be too prepared."

"that's first age, trauma, that," elladan sighs. they go back to teaching estel how to follow deer trails and skin rabbits.

and Aragorn files this information away as 'ARWEN: Feral Sinda (Avari?) (Elven???) Girl-shaped Creature' that Elrond's family are for some unimaginable reason attached to. Then a decade later he sees Arwen through the trees and it's a ✨meet cute✨ cause he thinks she's like Lúthien, blah blah he's obviously smitten, he puffs out his chest and gives her his Big Boy chieftain name and title. She smiles and nods politely.

And then she says her name and relation to Elrond and Aragorn screams a little inside and has to scramble for pretending like he hasn't heard of her, or even that Elrond's family are immortal, in order to cover the shock that he would have expected her to come crawling out of the underbrush a wild preteen gremlin witch with twigs in her hair, and is instead the Ladiest Lady that ever Ladied. Confessing that her brothers have been sharing embarassing childhood stories with you, the mortal foster-brother, is not first date material.

AU, where Bruce accidentally gets de-aged (physically and mentally), and the first person he bumps in is... Red Hood.

To Jason's defence, he didn't connect the dots at first. He was just patrolling around his usual turf, thinking of nothing in particular, when he saw a small child in a ridiculously serious suit, sulking around Crime Alley. He looks distraught, and considering that he looks rich, it is no surprise - that is not a place for him. So, he is either lost or something happened, right?

He takes the helmet off, as he usually does when he is dealing with kids (they got scared easily) and carefully approaches a brooding baby.

'Hey, shrimp. Where are your parents at?'

That said shrimp turns around, his big blue eyes looking confused and lost, and Jason thinks he looks awfully familiar.

'I am not shrimp,' he protests instantly, pouting at him. 'And they are somewhere... here. We just left the movie theatre together!'

Jason glances at the abandoned movie theatre, back at the little rich boy with a familiar frown, and it clicks. This is his fucking dad. Suddenly, a kid - but it is fucking Bruce Wayne, for sure.

'Was watching Zorro by any chance?' Jason still asks, just to be sure that he is not going insane.

Bruce - and it must be him - beams at him.

'Yes! This is a great movie, by the way.'

Oh, hell. At least, he didn't witness his parents' death just yet. Jason wasn't sure he would be able to deal with his father being so small, and mourning his mom and dad. He would probably cry himself at some point.

'Hey,' Jason calls out for him slowly, squatting down; God, who would've thought that this little shrimp would become so tall and big in the future. 'Aren't you... You must be Thomas's kid, right?'

Okay, yeah, Jason is going to lie to this kid. Because there is no way he manages just to steal Bruce as a stranger to bring him back home; it is still a kid, even if it is his father. Right?

'You know my dad?' Bruce tilts his head, little fingers tugging on the hem of his jacket; suspicious.

'You could say that,' Jason nods. 'Alfie... I mean, Alfred called me. Asked me to pick up a kid, since Thomas and Martha got an urgent call.'

Fuck his life and stupid life choices. What the hell he was even doing? He looked like a mugger; or like a psycho. But Alfred was his best bet - he could call him, after all; ask, well, support his idiotic made-up story.

'No one calls Alfred Alfie but my dad,' Bruce pouts in a very, very spoiled manner.

'Well... I do. We served together in the army,' he blurts out.

His armour, apparently, is enough a proof for the kid to nod slowly.

'Okay. But you gotta take off your strange mask first,' Bruce folds arms on his chest.

...???

Did this kid just agree for an unknown man to take him home? Like this? Who could've thought that this pouty child would become the most paranoid man alive in the future?

'Uh, why?'

'So I can remember your face and do an identikit, if you turn out to be a bad guy,' Bruce smirks stupidly. 'Duh.'

Jason is going to cry. This kid is so cute.

'Yeah, duh,' Jason huffs, but despite his better judgment takes the domino mask off as well. 'Go on, take your time. My identikit should be the prettiest, shrimp.'

Bruce... gawks at him. His eyes are comically wide now, mouth open, and then, he jumps a little closer to him - oh, God, he is jumping when excited? - putting his hellishly cold hands on Jason's cheeks.

'Woah. You look like dad.'

'Uh,' Jason nods awkwardly, and because he is an idiot, adds a joke: 'We are brothers, actually. Just don't talk much.'

...Apparently, little Bruce can't take jokes. Because he lets out an adorable gasp, and throws himself on Jason as if they knew each other for ages now.

'Uncle? That's so cool. You look like Zorro!'

Damn this little kid, and this stupid family. Damn Joe Chill and the night he killed this kid's parents. Damn it all. Bruce might be an asshole sometimes, but he was so... cute and innocent.

'Thanks, shrimp,' Jason slides a domino mask back on, picks up little Bruce with one arm, and grips a helmet with another. 'Come on, let's go home. Alfred will make your favourite tiramisu.'

'You know my favourites?!'

Jason sniffles.

'Yeah. Yeah, I do, kid.'

If he gets so emotional over this kid, he has no idea how worse Dick is going to be once he finds out.

Oh, this is going to be one hell of a night.

Hey!! I drew something for once!! I got a little weird with this one - I had to cut out the drawing as carefully as possible and pasted it to layered paper and flower stickers. Not quite sure if the final product is good or not, but I had fun and that's what's important!

All Eddie’s ever wanted is to play hockey. 

Sports have never really been his thing, not in the general sense that they seem to be for most athletes, but hockey? 

Yeah, hockey’s definitely his thing. 

Maybe it’s the sense of belonging, maybe it’s the fighting, maybe it’s just the fun of strapping blades to his feet and zipping around the ice like he’s still ten years old again with Wayne telling him to slow the fuck down. 

Or, maybe it’s the chemistry that he’s never seen anywhere else, specifically his chemistry with Steve Harrington. 

Okay, that can’t be the reason he’s always wanted to play hockey because he only meets Steve during their time together on the Saginaw Spirit, but it certainly doesn’t help sway him to other avenues. He doesn't expect for them to hit it off the way they do— Steve is a certified Sports Guy, a multi-sport athlete who had his pick of the pros and chose hockey over both baseball and basketball— but then Steve cracks the glass off of Eddie’s pass at their first practice together and breaks the ice, so to speak. 

There’s a running joke that the OHL is a little bit of a cult and Eddie can’t deny that claim,  so when he and Steve end up attached at the hip, no one questions them for a full two seasons. 

Two seasons of carpools to the rink, alternating playlists, and memorizing each others’ coffee orders. Two seasons of being seatmates on the plane, of weird little rituals, of pregame naps with Eddie as the little spoon that Eddie maybe enjoys a bit too much. Two seasons of being roommates in just about every hotel across the OHL, of being actual roommates who celebrate every win and suffer every loss together just hoping for their chance. 

It all comes to a screeching halt when Steve’s selected second overall in a loaded draft class, and the only surprise as far as Eddie's concerned is that Steve doesn't go first overall.

Dc au- the bestest friends ever

Their dynamic means so much to me, this introverted kid from the sea that hasn’t been on land before being partnered with this walking traffic light who’s always pumped for a new adventure and never does what he’s told

Tails thinks he’s the coolest guy ever and wants to be his friend while Kit tries in vain to evade the power of friendship and wants to be professional cuz he’s too awkward to make friends and thinks Tails is annoying (at first)

I imagine during an attack on Gotham, Black manta this time, and Kit was pursuing him, damaging a lot of buildings in the process (caring about property damage is for losers) so Tails and Batman were trying to arrest them both until Tails (on his own) manages to get an answer out of him about the situation with black manta (cuz Kit frankly thought it was none of the land dwellers business)

So Tails insists on helping him despite Kit’s protests and together they mange to solve the mystery and arrest black manta

Kit recognises that Tails def has some cool skills Tails is like:

“Who knows, maybe next time your on land you could stop by Gotham and we can team up again!”

“…maybe.”

Tails has been upgraded to ‘potential ally’!

(As soon as Kit and Tails become officially friends, Kit lowkey becomes attached to him at the hip, usually standing next to him, going where he goes when their on a mission together like a silent shadow. They’re a package deal!!)
