I have Ideas for puffing 2 wardens in one world state.... Okay hear me out
So the whole idea started with like. I wanted to make an Amell. And then I remembered that out of all the origins, Amell/Surana are the only ones that seem to not exist outside of their origin. By that I mean if you pick Amell, Surana has no mention and vice versa (they are mentioned elsewhere in other origin runs i think idk its been two years since my Mahariel run)
And THEN I had the idea of like. Both of them helping Jowan escape, and therefore both becoming wardens together. And of course, like I usually do, I had to find SOME way to make this about Aviae.
So, I decided that she had an Amell tagging along with her. As of right now his name is Wolfe (he's a shape shifter /blood mage. When Morrigan offered to teach him to shapeshift he decided to be the funniest bitch ever. His main form is a wolf. Who would have thought) , and in general he just. He's just there for the ride man. If he was the one forced to be the hero of Fereldan, Fereldan would be FUCKED because he would have just gotten high and taken a nap lmao. Generally his moral compass is "whatever lets me leave here fastest" (although he has big no no's on slavery and killing children. Most else is free game. Also generally against mass murder for no reason, but he can be swayed) Despite his general laid back nature, he fucking HATES Alistair. He finds his "whininess" exhausting, and wishes he would just DO something about his damn circumstances. If he doesn't want to be king, put his foot down. Say no. Run away. Something. Stop moping around and just fucking do the thing. While Wolfe hates doing things, he hates doing things inefficiently more. He's the type of guy who would skip every damn side quest just to beat the game faster yk?
Generally he gets along well with everyone else though. He's insanely loyal to Aviae, mostly because he's just glad he's not the one in charge lmao. The two become a bit codependent on each other after ostagar because they're the only ones who really get each other yk? Before they became wardens, they were not close at all. Friend of a friend type of thing; they would occasionally hang out because of Jowan, but they didn't really talk. When Irving caught them, originally Duncan was only gonna recruit Aviae, but she practically forced him to recruit Wolfe as well. He recognizes that she quite literally saved him from being made tranquil lmao. The entire blight they're attached at the hip; to his great displeasure Aviae brings him EVERYWHERE. Every stupid errand, every stupid battle he is there. He does get a break at Orzammar, which he is eternally grateful for (not really. She took Zevran with her so now he has to deal with all the people that he doesn't like. At least Morrigan is there, and Alistair isn't)
For Morrigan, he likes her well enough to call her a friend. He's head over heels for Zevran. Hot accent, pretty face AND he's an assassin? What more do you want in a man. He thinks Leliana is crazy as shit, but he still enjoys her company and stories. He thinks Sten is "a bit of a dick". The two don't talk much. Shale scares the piss out of him. Aviae agreeing to recruit her was one of the few times Wolfe actually spoke out about her decision because what the FUCK. He stays on the opposite end of camp he is NOT getting crushed by a golem thank you very much. He wishes Wynne would cool it on the lectures about blood magic (he didn't like her when he was an apprentice and he likes her even less now). Oghren stinks. That's all he has to say about him really.
Despite Morrigan trying to get him to do the dark ritual, he refuses so Alistair still ends up doing it. Why does he refuse? Because his plan was to just make Alistair be the one to sacrifice himself. It was such a good plan too he was gonna make sure him and Aviae were standing back while Alistair did the stabby bits. No room for error. None, whatsoever! He is extremely disappointed when Alistair survived the battle.
After origins, him Aviae and Zevran travel together for a time. After about a month or two Aviae leaves to be the Warden Commander in amaranthine. Wolfe however, stays with Zevran. Eventually the two have to split, so he does make his way to Amaranthine, except it's right when the Mother attacks Vigil's Keep. Since Aviae defended Amaranthine, Vigil's Keep still falls; however, he does manage to keep Sigrun and Velanna from perishing in the battle (here's how the Amaranthine crew can be happy and alive-)
When Aviae runs off looking for Morrigan, Wolfe takes over her Warden Commander duties. He thinks it's a much more temporary scenario than it ends up being (if he knew Aviae was gonna run off with Morrigan, he would have made Nathaniel do it). He, however, is shit at this job. Too much work for too little reward, plus he doesn't remember half the shit he needs to be doing. This is how the templars end up getting to Anders under his watch; Wolfe may not have been close with Anders, he does feel he owes it to Aviae to keep him from being killed. Which he is doing a very poor job of, might I add.
Eventually Aviae does return to her Warden Commander duties briefly, and he steps down and joins back up with Zevran. Eventually Nathaniel takes over Aviae's duties while she's not there (which is VERY often)
The two don't reunite until a few years down the line, when Aviae approaches him about searching for a calling. He agrees to help her, since Zevran has unfinished crow business to settle at the time, and the two go searching for a calling together
For other things that happen in canon, I think he drank Avernus's mixture. In my latest run Aviae did it, however the more I think about it the less sense it makes for her to do so. Shes extremely fade sensitive, so any kind of blood magic would fuck with her connection to the fade, and her ability to do spirit healing. However, those damn spells CARRIED my ass, so someone needs to have them. Wolfe figures "how bad could it be?" And downs the whole bottle. I think he would side with the Dalish (maybe he tries to make a peace between them, but it's so much WORK. Killing werewolves is more work though), Sides with the mages (he knows those people, he can't just let them die), Doesn't really give a shit about orzammar politics (Aviae sides with Bhelen, so he just follows her lead). If Aviae wasn't there, he would have had Jowan kill Isolde. He wouldn't have made a deal with the demon, because Connor is a Child. He learns blood magic from Jowan before they leave Redcliffe; Alistair bitches about it and Wolfe wants to make his insides explode. They do not get along at all it's funny. I actually really like Alistair however this guy I made wants him dead so bad
So yeah I think that's all I got. A lot of this will probably change since I literally just made this dude today lmao. Bonus for reading my yapping, here's a drawing I did of him earlier
#dragon age#oc: wolfe amell#oc: aviae surana#worldstate: mage rights#wolfe amell đ¤ lucio hawke#blood mages from the same family#like i said a decent bit of this may change#but as of right now im being self indulgent lmao#its MY worldstate and i can do what i want with it#generally aviae is still the only one called the hero of Fereldan#because she did all the heavy lifting#wolfe was just there to be pretty and bat his eyelashes at zevran#my ocs

Love by Daylight (1/2)
⸠characters: Seokjin x Reader
⸠genres: Sailor Moon!AU, fluff, sort of e2l
⸠tags: sly friends, petty enemies/secret crushes, running away from the mortifying ordeal of being known
⸠words: 2K+
⸠summary: The day you find out who your suave partner in saving the world is, you're absolutely, positively, without a doubt sure you'll be over the moon. You'll be so happy you'll think you're dreaming. Turns out you're right. You do think you're dreaming. Because this? This can't be real. You're being pranked. Someone, somewhere, is going to jump out and say you're on Candid Camera. (Please.)
>> PART 2
When the lights fade and the facades fall, this is what youâre left with: Tuxedo Mask without a mask, you without your moonlit glamor. Tux the civilian is handsome, you can tell, and this is itâthe moment youâve been waiting for.
He lifts his face.
The youma's words come rushing back: Let the truth be known, the cityâs deepest secrets shown.
Tuxedo Mask is none other than Kim Seokjin.
Suddenly, youâre reminded of a crystalline city; people bowing before you; Seokjin taking your hand, your matching rings gleaming in the light. Was it a memory or a dream?
You stand there, dumbfounded, until Tux/Seokjin dons his mask and brushes past. âCome on, Sailor Moon,â he says, sensible enough to use your alias. âThe coast is clear. Weâve got a fight to finish.â
âž
âWhy does it have to be Seokjin?" You whine, collapsing into bed and disturbing your sleeping cat. (In your defense, he was on your pillow. Which youâve told him numerous times not to lay down on because his fur would shed.) Luckily, Agust is acquainted with your dramatic side and simply gets up to move.
âWell, why do you have to be Sailor Moon?â He points out. âIt could have been someone less bothersome.â
âHey,â you retaliate. âYouâre the one who came to me. You could have given anyone the Lunar Key.â
âI didn't have a choice.â
âWhat do you mean you didnât? You could have walked away and picked someone better, just like that.â
He scoffs. âNot when itâs the Queen.â
âQueen-schmeen." You flop back onto your bed, the springs creaking in protest. "I bet Her Royal Highness is on her throne right now, all nice and comfy. She couldn't care less."
Agust doesn't reply.
At first, you think it's because you've won and nothing else can be said, but when the silence stretches on, you know something is off. You sit up to see Agust no longer curled into himself, but sitting. He stares out your window into the night, his normally keen eyes empty. "She's dead."
Judging by his somber tone, she'd meant a lot to him. "I'm sorry," you whisper.
Agust sighs. "No need to apologize, kid. She was your mother, after all."
"My mother?"
"Not now," he amends. "But she was a long time ago, when you were the princess of the moon and Seokjin the prince of the earth.â
âž
The next morning, you head to school on time.
Your momâpresent day momâwas surprised to see you up early, and Jeongguk called you out like the bratty brother he was (wow, no morning run today?), but the truth was you couldnât sleep.
Last night, Agust recounted your past, how the dark eclipsed the moon. Although the queen tried her best to protect the kingdom, it was to no avail. Seokjin died in the fray, and you fell shortly after, helpless to save your beloved. In the end, the queen sacrificed herself to give you and Seokjin another chance at love, her people another chance at happiness.
A chance to rebuild the Silver Millennium.
The thing was, you didnât know if that was what you wanted. Not that youâd want the Dark Kingdom to reign, but you werenât sure whether you wanted to rule in your motherâs stead. Or marry Seokjin. Past you might have wanted to, but the you now could barely stand him. And neither could he. Or so you thought. Youâd gotten along just fine with Tuxedo Mask, even grown a crush, but that wasnât enough to warrant a marriage.
âHello? Veen to Selene*?â Someone nudges your shoulder, and with a start, you notice Mina looking at you in concern.
âSorry, what did you say?â
âNothing yet, but it looks like youâve got something on your mind. Whatâs up?â
Youâre about to tell her when you see Seokjin approaching, his uniform blazer neatly pressed.
âMorning, ______,â Seokjin says. âMina.â
âMorning,â you reply, ready for whatever biting remark heâd say next. But once Namjoon comes up, he leaves. That's it.
Even Mina, who hardly sees the two of you interact, notices. "That's the first time I've seen you guys polite. It's weird. What happened?"
After a discreet look around, you grab her by the elbow. âHe's Tux,â you hiss, but Mina doesnât look the least bit shocked. Her face breaks out into a giddy grin, like a child whoâs finally tall enough to get on the big kid ride.
âYou knew?â You ask, a little hurt she didnât tell you.
She pouts, squishing your cheeks together. âDonât be mad. You don't know how hard it was to keep it a secret.â
â
You don't blame Mina, for the most part. It would have been better if you hadnât known who Tuxedo Mask was, and vice versa. You felt like Cinderella running away from the ball, her beautiful dress giving way to rags and ratty shoes. If the prince caught up to her then, sheâd probably be humiliated.
Just like you are now.
Tuxedo Mask has seen you at your most embarrassing moments, fighting to have the last word (or milkshake) as Seokjin, and also at your best, saving civilians with grace. You've only wanted him to see the best of you, for him to think of you as the perfect wonder-girl heroine everyone else saw you as, but he's seen almost every side. You don't know what he sees in you now, if anything. And frankly, you don't want to know.
"Have you ever thought that maybe he's thinking what you're thinking?" Mina asks. "You've seen all the good and bad in him, too."
"But it's different when he doesn't have a crush on Sailor Moon!" You say, exasperated.
"Oh, I wouldnât be sure about that if I were you."
Seokjin thinking of your alter ego that way is embarrassing, but considering he's also Tuxedo Mask...now your face is red, you can feel it. Red as roses in bloom. "You're joking, right?"
"Why don't you wait and see," Mina replies, as cryptically as when she was Sailor V and you hadn't known any better. Having sympathy for you, she gives you a warm smile. "Don't stress out too much, Moon. You're amazing either way. Just talk to him."
â
You think there's some reconnaissance to sort out first. When you walked into Crown Arcade and saw Seokjin talking to Jimin pretty intently, you didnât want to interrupt...okay, who were you kidding? You chickened out.
But Jimin is his best friend, so he'll know how Seokjin feels the most, right? It's the next best alternative to actually speaking to Seokjin, which, well, you aren't ready for. Case in point: you've done the impossible and made yourself scarce. You arenât about to break your streak now.
So the instant Seokjin leaves, you walk up to the counter. Jimin looks up from sprinkling a milkshake. "Hey. The usual?"
"Yeah, just double on the chocolate."
"You got it," he says, passing the drinks he finished making to a server. You watch him blend milk into ice cream, then reach over for a new cup to pour the mixture into later. It's all done with practiced ease, and you marvel at how quick he is, not to mention how beautiful the finished milkshake looks after. The chocolate is perfect, the whipped cream a cloud of snow drizzled with dark syrup.
Jimin slides it over with a grin. "Mademoiselle."
"Why, thank you," you say, digging in with gusto. This is exactly what "stressed is desserts spelled backwards," meant: Jimin's milkshakes never fail to kick your worries down a notch.
"Good?" He asks.
"Mhm," you mumble, more to your milkshake than to him, when the thought that you haven't paid yet crosses your mind. Oh gosh. You pull your purse onto your lap, but Jimin chuckles, stopping you.
"I've got it covered. Besides, I heard you weren't yourself lately."
"Really?"
He shrugs. "From the way you're devouring that, it's kind of hard to believeâŚ"
You take an extra large mouthful to prove his point.
"But you only lay on the chocolate when you're bummed," he finishes, and youâd protest if you hadnât made it a habit to drown your sorrows in his milkshakes. They were just too good to resist. Not to mention Jimin is a great listener. Your girls, although you love them, aren't always the best. You'd catch the moment they crossed over from attentive to "Is she done yet?" but with Jimin, you've never had that issue. Turns out you have a different one.
"I hate how perceptive you are."
He laughs. "You're just predictable."
"You know what? You can take back your milkshake and go back to work," you say in a fit of grumpiness, pushing the glass back to him.
"Are you sure you want me to do that?"
You meet him eye to eye. After a minuteâa long, impressive minute might you addâyou take it back. "Fine. What do you want to hear?"
"Anything you want to tell me. And if it's something you can't share, please tell someone you can. It's not great to keep things bottled up, trust me."
You sigh.
"Here's the deal," you begin, feeling a little weird telling your old crush about your new one, but marching through nevertheless, "I met someone on...online. He's nice and funny and understands me even though he's different. I just click with him, and eventually, I want to tell him I like him. The thing is, I don't really know who he is. We've been chatting on Discord and his profile picture is Tuxedo Mask, but he can't be Tuxedo Mask. Or maybe he is, who knows?"
Jimin laughs. If only he knew.
"Anywho," you continue, "I meet him and find out he's someone I actually know...but he's a pest. He always gets on my nerves and it's like he's a completely different person! I don't even know how that's possible, but apparently it is and it's just so frustrating."
Jimin doesn't speak for a while, which is fine by you. You take the time to jam spoonfuls of chocolate and cream into your mouth.
"You know," he finally says, amused, "that sounds a little like the plot to You've Got Mail."
"That isn't funny.â You huff. âJoe Fox was a jerk and I don't know why they played him off as charming."
"Isn't that what you think of the guy?"
"I never said he was a jerk."
"But you said he was a pest."
"That isn't the sâ" You pull at your hair. "Ugh. I don't know anymore."
"Did you talk to him?"
"And what? Spill my complicated feelings?"
"No, just talk to him. You don't have to confess right now. Just air out the laundry and see where you guys are at. Chances are, if you're confused, then he's confused, too, and there's no way either of you can get out of it without talking to each other."
"I can't talk to him, Jimin. I avoided him for three weeks! He's going to hate me."
"He isn't," Jimin says firmly, and you wish you could have the same conviction. "Sure, he'll be upset, but if he's really someone who cares, he'll listen. Look, during that time you avoided him, did he try to reach out?"
"Well, I told him I didn't want to talk and he stopped asking."
"So he'll listen. If it turns out he hates you, give him a piece of your mind and I'll give you triple chocolate milkshakes on the house."
When he puts it like that, talking to Seokjin doesn't seem as dreadful. "You're not just saying that?"
"Have I ever said something I didn't mean?"
You get your answer when someone comes trudging in, holding up a bag from your go-to fast food joint. "Jimin! You better be grateful I drove all the way downtown to get you these burgers. Since when did you like ______'s favorite, anyways?"
"Since now," your traitor of a friend says. You glare at him, which he conveniently ignores.
"You're the best," he tells a surprised Seokjin, leaving with a pat on his shoulder. "Enjoy your meal!"

Your Malleus/Fairy Hunter reader and your love triangle with reader Jamil and Kalim have some low key yandere themes to them lol so how about we flesh them out? How would yandere Malleus, Azul, Leona, Kalim, and Ruggie react to the girl they like rejecting them upon confession (girl only likes them platonically)?
âlol so how about we flesh them out?â We? This was the only ask I got so if you sent some headcanons or ideas in another ask to contribute, unfortunately, Tumblr ate them! Feel free to send them again if you want! Also, I got a little carried away so it became reader instead of a girl. Note, that if it was indeed a girl, Leona would probably act differently because of his culture.
Warnings: yandere, abuse, kidnapping, abuse of power, manipulation, coercion, unhealthy relationship, toxic relationships, physical violence, noncon touching, not respecting boundaries
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/97d0e3fff172884f5b5ffc8c8b48ba99/865e6c5c21c53d94-1f/s540x810/bbeef4877db92ffde4f44a1499ed7c4a2cf98de0.jpg)
Yandere! Malleus, Azul, Leona, Kalim, and Ruggie getting rejected:
Malleus Draconia
Oh dear, you thought you had a say in this, did you? No, you sweet little thing, this confession is more of a statement. Heâs letting you know because this is your reality now
Malleus is a dorm leader, descendant of the king who rules the night, and one of the most powerful magic wielders in the world. The power imbalance in your relationship would be dizzying even without his unique disposition
He can and will use his influence, and if you were hoping for sympathy, well the amused look on Liliaâs face says it all
For someone who is so elusive that people forget to invite him, heâs suddenly filling every crevasse of your life
The worst part is that people either think youâre crazy:Â âThereâs no way someone as powerful as Malleus is following you around.â Or they think youâre lucky:Â âWow! How did you manage to approach him?â Either way, you arenât getting help
His confession marks the first day of your doom. If his darling keeps rejecting his advances, Malleus might just have to kidnap and confine you. Obviously, youâre a little too confused and foolish to reject him, but donât worry Malleus will protect you, even from yourself
If he decides to confine you, itâs game over. His overwhelming magic powers make it impossible for you to leave, and thatâs excluding any physical barriers. Even if you got the lock undone, the enchantments, hexes, and magic barriers are too much for you to possible hope to dispel before he comes back
Azul Ashengrotto
At surface value, Azul takes it so well, in fact, a little too well
Heâs so excessively gracious about the whole thing. Saying he understands, love isnât something you can control, and heâs grateful that you listened to his confession so you can both move on
In fact, none of this is true, but he spews whatever words he needs to until you visibly relax
Itâs the calm before the storm. Azul is calculating and planning your demise with such precision that even Scarabia students would be impressed. Azul has no intentions on relying on luck, he is going to take every measure to that you will fall for him
He arranges several false encounters. Maybe he saves you from danger, or you two somehow end up in a situation that paints him with all the qualities you look for in a partner.Â
Itâs so slow and cautious, and before you realize it youâve become ensnared in his spiderâs web
Your entire relationship is fabricated on lies and half-truths but Azul only plays to win and he is determined to claim your heart as a prize
Leona Kingscholar
At first, heâs in shock. You rejected him? Huh? Heâs a powerful predator on the top of the food chain, but you, a little herbivore, rejected him?
His arrogance deludes him and he has trouble comprehending the situation. Leona Kingscholar gets what he wants, donât you know Savanaclawâs one and only rule?
Resist all you want, itâs for naught
There is a frightening smile that doesnât reach his eyes as he plays off the rejection as no big deal.Â
He has no plans on begging, ever, but he does try to flirt more and teases you at every chance he gets
Be careful, every predator patiently hunts his prey, but Leona has no intentions of waiting forever
Threats, complaints, declarations of displeasure, and pleas all fall on deaf ears.Â
There are underlying threats when he feels that youâre being annoying. He talks about how there are so many nasty hyenas at the school and how much youâd suffer if it wasnât for him. The promise of pain comes more than the actual thing, but donât let your guard down. He can certainly bark and bite.
Kalim Al-Asim:
He pouts a bit and sniffles a little, but then Kalim smiles and says he understands if you donât return his feelings yet, heâll just wait!
If you ever question his behaviour, accusing him of being romantic instead of platonic, he insists itâs just another type of love or that itâs the way he expresses affection in general. And then heâs off on another adventure before you can question him
He is overbearing and smothers you with his love. Hugs that are a little too tight, compliments that seem to fall from his lips excessively, and a dangerous twinkle in his eye you just canât quite place
It is hard to deny or confront him because it seems so harmless on the surface. Was that hug a little too long? Maybe, but Kalim is nice to everyone. Plus the 50 peacocks he ordered catches everyoneâs attention before you have the chance to comment
No one takes your concerns seriously, each compliment cuts your heart and increases your doubts. Are you wrong?Â
Youâre so lucky to have a boyfriend like Kalim! Oh, youâre not dating? Just wait, heâll confess. He definitely has a crush on you!
He loves you so much! Just look at how he spoils you. Â
He basically has hearts in his eyes for you. Itâs so cute!
A day doesnât go by where you donât spend time with Kalim. He stays for a while unless Jamil is prying him away to some meeting
You rejected Kalim, but why does it feel like youâre his partner anyway?
Ruggie Bucchi
Ruggie is peeved. He worked up the courage to confess to you and this is how it all turns out? A rejection?
Ruggieâs life is hardly easy and heâs always wanted so many things he couldnât have. Fresh food. A safe home. Financial security. Certainty. But he thought that at least he could have you.
Heâs hurt, but he knows that he should let this go. Yet a whisper in his heart asks why canât he just indulge this once? He always works so hard and heâs sure you wouldnât be lacking anything except perhaps a fair say in the relationship. Itâs a dangerous turmoil that leaves him unstable
Be warned, he Is not above lashing out in anger if you say the wrong thing. If you bring up any of his insecurities as a reason, things get ugly and the claws come out
Did you just call him small? Cute? Like a little brother? Take that back right now! But itâs too late when you see his expression morph into one of anger. He might just pounce on you right there or slam you into a wall. He is not small and he hasnât become Savanaclawâs vice dorm leader because heâs weak
He loosens his grip a fraction if you cry, only because it got out of hand, and he really didnât mean to hurt you.

Hi!! Nice to meet you!âşď¸I love your blog, thank you for your post every dayâşď¸âşď¸
Could you tell me how L act when he feels romantic feeling to Misa but knows she is into Light??
Hi, anon! Itâs nice to meet you too! And thank you very much thatâs so sweet of you.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/c261c6f88630e12e55fae5eb8d6bc170/0feb8889e7fdb277-21/s250x250_c1/29cefb66ffee10b1d3dda444bffb2df95ece1976.jpg)
Iâve never put much thought into Lâs love life before, but I give it a try. I will do two scenarios, one with the Death Note being involved the other one without it, since this would affect Lâs reaction more than Misaâs feelings for Light. Also, I think L is someone who prioritizes his job over everything else, which is another major influencing factor.
Scenario 1 (with the Death Note)
First of all, I donât think that he would give up the Kira case because of personal feelings. And I doubt that he would try to convince Misa to leave Light. I even doubt that he would confess his feelings to her. Since this would most likely take place during the Yotsuba arc, too much already happened and will happen between them, which cannot be forgiven so easily. Almost two months of torture, Lightâs fake-execution, constant lies, and being responsible for the death of the man she loves (if he wins, of course) is far from being a good fundament for a relationship and would always stand between them. Telling her that he loves her in a situation like this would be pretty cynical and messed up, to be honest.
Also, if he wants to prove that Light is Kira, he would have to do the same with Misa. It would be easier to prove her guild. There is evidence leading into this direction, and the Task Force already knows too much to let her go. He has no chance but to get both of them arrested. I could see, however, that he tries to improve her situation somehow once she and Light are arrested.
In the most extreme case, he could try to save her, and the best way to do this would be to kill Misa Amane. Faking her death, giving her a new identity and a place to live in a country far away from Japan would save her life. L has enough money and connections to pull this off. And he obviously knows people who can give someone a new identity since he uses it himself. L went to university with Light as Hideki Ryuga. For this, he needed documents proving his identity and a certificate. However, I doubt that L would go through so much effort if he only has a crush on her. Without strong feelings from his side, this scenario is rather unrealistic.
It would be more realistic that he offers her a deal. If she confirms Lightâs guilt and provides all information about Kira, she wonât be executed (which would most likely be her and Lightâs fate otherwise), but âonlyâ has to serve a life-long prison sentence. With his money, he could also try to improve her situation in prison, for example, transferring her into one with less dangerous criminals and better treatment in general. Maybe he would even visit her occasionally.
But both scenarios require that Misa accepts Lâs help, and I donât see this. She is too fixated on Light and was ready to die for him. Since Misa would probably not agree to the deal nor starting a new life somewhere else, L could still try to blame Light primarily and make it look like he is the head behind everything while Misa only executed his orders. However, this doesn't apply to the time before she met Light. Still, if things go well, maybe she only has to serve a prison sentence as well. Pulling this off would be difficult, though, since Misa and Light would not confirm this story if they say anything at all. Also, the Task Force would most likely argue against it. Aizawa seems to hate Misa (way more than Light) for Ukitaâs death probably, and Soichiro would not try to reduce Misaâs sentence while his son will be executed. And even if L is successful, it wouldnât help much. She said that she doesn't want to live in a world without Light. She would likely kill herself sooner or later.
Overall this scenario is pretty dark and Lâs feeling for her wouldnât matter much at all. There is no way of going back and forgetting about everything. They can only move forward, and this will end unpleasantly for at least one of them.
Scenario 2 (without the Death Note)
It is harder for me to figure out what would happen in this scenario, on one hand, L seems to do everything necessary to achieve his goals, on the other hand, he seems to accept peopleâs decisions. For instance, he accepted that Aizawa left the Task Force.
So I guess L would confess his feelings to her and let Misa ultimately decide if she wants him or Light regardless of Misaâs feelings for Light and vice versa. He seems to be straightforward and not particularly romantic. His confession would most like be him going to her and telling Misa to her face: âMisa, I love youâ without romantic gestures and anything.
If Light loves Misa too, he would have less of a problem if she chooses Light over him. His job has still the priority, and he would make this clear to her. Due to this, he isnât the best boyfriend material, to begin with. Light is logically the better choice, and L is more driven by logic than emotions.
But if Light doesnât love Misa, I think he would have a bigger problem accepting her decision. Maybe not even so much that fact that she doesnât want him, but more that she wants someone who isnât even interested in her. The lack of logic behind her decision would bother him to no end. I guess that he would try to be more convincing in this case. If she doesnât want him, thatâs one thing, but she should at least look for someone who loves her as well. I doubt he would be very successful, though. Misa is stubborn and driven by emotions. He would have to accept her decision reluctantly and could only hope that either she gets over Light or that Light develops feelings for her too. (To make it clear, since he isnât Kira in this scenario there is no reason for Light to fake a relationship with Misa. They are either acquaintances or friends.)

@faunscozyspace so hereâs the looong answer
So Draven was a regular poor farm kid in Mendev, the country unfortunate enough to be next to a demonic rip in reality called the Worldwound. Because of it the land is mostly fallow so farming is not lucrative. His parents supplemented it by fishing in the Lake of Mists and Veils, but the lake is treacherous and they had to be cautious with their expeditions. His father also did odd jobs around town, helping to fix roofs and tools or tend to cattle, and was all around generally well liked, so they got by because of their community.
Then one day demons broke through the Wardstone barrier protecting the rest of the world from the Worldwound. This demon raiding party came across Dravenâs family farm, and they tortured and slaughtered everyone inside. They were not fast about it, and at one point Draven lost consciousness from the pain and trauma of what was happening around him. He was saved by some local retired crusaders whoâd heard the commotion and grabbed their old arms and armor to slay and chase off the abyssal scourge. Unfortunately, Draven was the only survivor. He was in a coma for close to a month while his wounds healedâall but a terrible mark on his left arm, the Mark of Deskari, the demon lord of Locusts and Pestilence, which never closed and scarred, but festered and bled. The clericâs finally had him bandage it and told him to keep it hidden, as others would jump to the wrong conclusions about such a thing.
Unfortunately rumors had already begun to spread, and by the time he was taken into the Light-Oath Orphanage, owned by one of the retired crusaders, former captain Scarlet Jules, the children had heard of him. The boy who had survived what no one should have. The boy whose body had become strangely hardy since the ordeal, despite having been a somewhat scrawny kid in his youth. The boy who might have made a deal with a demon. The boy who might have demonic blood inside of him. The boy marked by evil. The boy who might not be a boy as all, but a demon in disguise. All kinds of rumors followed him, and it left him isolated from his peers.
Until Leto Jules held out a hand of friendship.
Leto was a brilliant golden tiefling, abandoned to the orphanage with no record of who his mother and father were. He was roughly the same age as Draven, maybe a little younger. He understood being shunned for rumors and connections to demons you had no control over. So he tried to invite Draven to play with him. At first Draven was hesitant. He had never met a tiefling before, and his appearance with his sharp fangs and twisted horns brought to mind the monsters that had killed his family and tortured him. He refused. But Leto did not relent. He kept trying to befriend Draven, taking every opportunity he could to try to include him. He wouldnât force the subject when Draven said no, but he would always come back when another opportunity arose. Eventually Draven warmed up to his presence, and then grew fond of it. After a year together the two of them became inseparable. Draven in time grew to think of Leto as a surrogate brother. Leto in turn grew very protective of Draven, despite Draven seeing himself as the one who needed to protect those around him.
And as those two grew close, Letoâs natural charm began drawing others to them as well. Gabrielle, a kindhearted aasimar cleric, whose instructors feared she was too soft for the work of a field medic. Sophia, an orphaned Kellid girl who lived up to her peopleâs reputation for battle. She was fierce and vicious, but she had a clear soft spot for Gabrielle, who also worried over her in combat and tended to favor healing herâsometimes to the detriment of others. Everyone in the group knew Sophia had a crush on Gabbie and vice-versaâit was only a matter of time until those two boneheads came out and admitted it. Issac, the youngest of the group and the only one besides Draven who didnât came to the orphanage as an infant. Issac lost his parents in an accident he didnât like talking about when he was 13. He was quiet, shy, extremely unsure of himself despite his clear skill with magic, and always a bit droopy-eyed, like she was about to fall asleep. He was also the only religious skeptic in the group, despite being a celestial blooded sorcerer. And last but certainly not least was Lorette, a bard who was seeking for his friends to make big names for themselves so he could be the one to write the ballads and tales and earn a name for himself in that manner. He was a short blond man whose large personality made up for his stature. He was always the most boisterous in the room, always the center of attention, and generally pretty well liked by the sorts who enjoy his kind of big personality.
So these six made an adventuring party, and when Draven was 20 they headed out to the Crusader city of Kenabres to enlist.
ThingsâŚdidnât go well. About an hour outside of the city, a demon broke through the Wardstone again. Draven felt the Mark of Deskari on his arm begin to burn and bleed severely, and he immediately knew something was wrong. There was no time to warn his friends before all hell broke loose. They had trained together, they knew how to fightâŚin theory. But they had never been in a real battle. And they didnât have cold iron or good aligned weapons, so even when they did hit the target it did nothing. The demon ripped them apart. Gabrielleâinnocent and sweet, aimed at for being an aasimar, never saw it coming. Sophiaâflying into a hopeless rage over the love sheâd never confessed toâs corpse, before falling beside her. Issac, terrified, trying to draw on his celestial power in one breath and cursing the gods that had turned his life into this mockery in the next. He fell silent with barely a whimper. Lorette tried to flee, all grandeur lost. He didnât get far.
Draven tried to defend Leto with his shield. He felt claws rake across his face, there was a terrible pain and then a terrible cold, and then the next thing he remembers is waking up in a templeâs healing center in Kenabres. Somehow Leto had gotten them to safety, the lucky bastard. But not before Draven had lost his left eye.
He had to spend the next year relearning the sword and shield with only one eye, regaining his hand eye coordination and relearning to tell distances, and in that time he ended up relegated to the lowest most looked down upon branch of the crusades: The Raven Corps. And there he remained.
Until the fateful day the Wardstone was destroyed, he and six others were tossed into the caverns below Kenabres, and by the end of it his recent friend and mentee from the Raven Corps, Auriel Answerer, died in battle against a Baphomet Cultist who had been leading a conspiracy to infiltration the Church of Iomedae, after dealing her a crippling blow. Auriel we discovered after his death had been meant to be Iomedaeâs Chosen One, the Paladin to wield the intelligent holy sword Radiance. However since Aurielâs spirit vouched for Draven, both the honor and the burden or wielding Radiance fell to Draven. Radiation was not pleasedâthey did not come off as terribly fond of their replacement wielder who wasnât even a true Paladin.
Not longe after we met an eldritch archer magus in the sewers looking after some orphans. So our party became Luna the innocent accused serial killer The Butcher of Balestreet, Melody the Inquisitor of Shelyn who followed a holy songbird to find us, and Hiskaria a convicted murderer who was supposed to be in the Ravenâs Corps as community service under orders of her landâs kind Kevoth-Kul after all forms of execution failed. So Draven has Hiskaria as his responsibility now whether he likes it or not (she grows on him)
Since then long storyâs short: we met The person Draven hero worships, Commander Irabeth Tirabade, got a mission from her to destroy the final shard of the Wardstone before the cultists could turn it into a weapon of mass destruction. So we did. And Draven got closer to the party after spending a long time holding them at armâs length because they risked everything to keep Leto safe after Draven saw a scry that he was in danger and that if they retreated now he might not make it back safely. Hiskaria avoided our entire boss fight by tapping the Wardstone shard with a rod of cancellation while we had her distracted and it blew up and tore the enemies apart. We had some visions of what was meant to happenâall badâbut we broke fate and made a better reality. Then we got the power of the Wardstone and became mythic.
After that weâve met Iomedae the Inheritor, Dravenâs goddess, herself and got three boons from her for helping to cleanse her temple of the Deskari cultists and their desecration. Then we met the Queen of a Mendev who was somehow equally cool. She knighted all of us and promoted Draven whether he likes it or not. So after naming his new Legion he is now Sir Draven Imani, the One-Eyeâd Knight, Commander of the Adamant Shield Legion.
A Legion strong enough to stand unyielding before the forces of the Worldwound like an Adamantine Shield to protect the innocent of the world outside.
Since then weâve led Dravenâs army to liberate a number of fortresses. Had some insubordination that almost ended really badly when some of the men went to desertâand then they were snatched up by gargoyles. We fought through hordes of ghouls, gargoyles, a half-fiend gargoyle inquisitor, an incubus, and a nabasu to get to them. The nabasu killed Melody, but by a miracle there was a scroll of resurrection with the healing supplies kept under the podium behind the podium of what was once a church of Iomedae, Draven isnât powerful enough to cast this magic consistently, so he had to take a gambleâŚand it worked. With Iomedae and Shelynâs blessings the spell worked, and we had Melody back. For the first time ever Dravenâs curse did not take hold.
The three crusaders we saved were ashamed after weâd literally put our lives in the line for them, and they returned to camp. Draven later spoke to their ringleader Arles. He explained he knew were Arles was coming fromâmourning caused people to act irrationally. He just hoped it wouldnât cause them more problems in the future. Arles gave Draven a book of tactics to look over to try to be a better commander in future battles, which from an inscription inside of the cover Draven discovered was originally from Arlesâ love Jellel, who had died under Dravenâs command in his first real battle leading an army. He committed Jellelâs name to memory, ashamed that he had been so new to command that he hadnât known anything about them before they died because of his imperfect orders. From here out he became much more focused on his soldiers. He prioritizes what will be best for his men, he doesnât want to betray the trust of people who are putting their lives on the line for him. Legit if it ever comes down to a choice between doing something that will protect his army or something that protects the party, I donât know which side of the coin heâll land on. But Iâm heavily leaning protect his men. The others can take care of themselves. His army relies on him, heâs the one with mythic power leading them, if he were to abandon them heâd be choosing the deaths of hundreds or thousands of people and he couldnât live with himself if he did that.
Fun fact: One of Dravenâs mythic abilities is called Divine Source. It gives him two domains as if he were a god, and people who follow him can prepare spells from him as if he were a god. He has *no idea* he has this ability, beyond suddenly having a few new spell-like abilities he didnât before, but heâs just chalking that up to âWardstone weirdnessâ same with him suddenly learning to speak celestial (and heâs going to freak when he suddenly learns Abyssal next level đ) I look forward to the day someone in his army spontaneously starts getting protection domain spells from him and itâs like âthatâs not Iomedaen. Draven weâve seen you cast this on Melody before do you know what this is?â And Draven will nope out of existence because he didnât want to be a commander he definitely doesnât want to be a god or god adjacent, Melody can be the partyâs demi-god thanks.
Anyways he led his army to march on the Citadel city of Drezen, which had been captured and held by demons for 100 years. No one had managed to get close to taking it back since, everyone who had tried died.
The party took it back in three days. One to clear out the exterior defenses. One to clear out the first floor and kill the armyâs commanding officer and show off his severed head in the most dramatic way Draven could think of to make the enemy army retreat, and one to go into the basement and kill a Shadow Demon and save their friend who he was possessing.
And then the demon general Aponavicious almost cut Dravenâs head off through a portal, if he hadnât activated the magical Sword of Valorâthe banner once wielder by Iomedae herselfâat just the right time. It closed the portal and saved his life. But things werenât over. She couldnât teleport directly in, but she could teleport her army outside and march on Drezen. And thatâs what she began to do. With an army of thousands upon thousands of demons.
Until a single figure in shining silver armor stepped out from behind Aponavicious. A golden tiefling. He spoke to her, then viciously wrapped her in spiked chains. Words were had, and then the army retreated.
Leto looked across the battlefield at Draven, held up his right hand, and Draven felt the mark on his left hand began to react. He heard Letoâs voice in his head. âDonât worry. I wonât let them hurt you.â
Then he teleported away, too.
So Draven was nearly catatonic for a bit after that revelation of his brother working with the enemy. He tried Sending Leto but only got a response that wishes come true when you least expect them, and to meet him at the Ivory Labyrinth. And that he would protect him.
So Draven is extremely confused. Then a few days later it turned out Melody is actually the demigod child of Desna and Shelyn, so thereâs that on top of things. Then Draven had some more self revelations a few days later.
None of them good.
Theyâd been asked by Irabeth, whoâd been promoted to Lord Captain of Drezen, to look into stopping some raiders who were attacking their supply lines. Easy right? Just people, no cults, no demons, just desperate people in the Worldwound making bad choices. We could deal with that.
Or so we thought, until the party got lost in a petrified forest in the way to the raiders fortress, and Dravenâs mark started acting up, so consistently that they could use it as a compass pointing the way to their destination. So clearly there was more to this than met the eyes.
Luna discovered that the raiders were being held here and forced to continue their raids at threat of death by their leader Marhokev. Luna promised if he led them to their leader, she and her friends would take care of him so they could go free. He warned that if it came down to a fight, Marhokev would force us to fight the raiders. Luna assured him that we had a lot of resources in our side to keep them safe. The raider placed his faith in us, and after working out how to get the entire party past the alarms Luna had passed via Invisibility, we were led inside.
There Draven met a large raider man who immediately locked eyes with him and grinned, referring to Draven as kin. Seeing Dravenâs confusion he explained they both shared Lady Jerribethâs blood. And they had both made a wish. Draven was confused and trying not to give into his first instinct to just go on the offensive, instead shakily explaining that he didnât know what the man was talking about. Marhokev laughed, realizing Draven didnât remember what he had wished for. So he told Draven a story. About his own life. His family had lived faithfully in Mendev for generations. And all it had saddled him with was demonic taint in his blood. Heâd lived with a violent temper his entire time. Heâd found it impossible to make a name for himself, or to keep down any sort of respectable position.
Then one day Lady Jerribeth came to him, and offered him anything he could desire. So he wished for power. And now he had it. Power and people to lord it over. He was living the life of a king as a raider. So, when given the chance to have it all, he took it. And it appeared when Draven was given the same chance, heâd squandered it away on something he couldnât even recall. A pity. But Mahokev still felt something for their kinship, so he was willing to open his arms to let Draven join his band.
Draven said absolutely not, and that the time for talking was over. That was his final answer. He saw now what sort of man Mahokev was, and hr wasnât one Draven could do anything for.
The raider flew into a mindless rage and attacked Draven, but Draven reflected him off his shield. Draven managed to hit the raider, but his rage powers activated to begin healing the damage, leaving Dravenâs average sword arm virtually useless as-is.
While he had his stand off, Hiskaria blasted the raiderâs pet ice drake with a scorching ray and peppered it with arrows, quickly finishing the beast before it was a terrible threat.
And Melody began dancing, distracting the other raiders so that the party wouldnât have to hurt them.
Hiskaria and Luna began helping Draven to damage the raider, their much more respectable damage output doing a number on him. He made a break for it, aiming for Melody to try to snap his minions out of their trances.
Draven was having none of that. He was aiming to stop him in his tracksâbut he stopped him alright, with a blade right through the rib cage and into the heart. Marhokev fell.
It appeared the battle was over. Melody ended her performance with a flourish, the raiders were grateful that we hadnât killed any of them and that now they could leave the Worldwound and return to the places theyâd once been from, or make new homes elsewhere.
None of the party were paying Marhokevâs corpse any mind. Not until his marked arm had ripped itself from its socket, and clamped onto Dravenâs throat. He failed his save and suffocated, being knocked unconscious immediately despite his frankly absurd number of hit points. Melody ran over and yanked the hand off Draven. Burnt flesh pulled away from where the hand met skin, and underneath a second Mark of Deskari was emblazoned across his neck.
Dravenâs had a lot to think about since then. His feelings about having demonâs blood in his veins in general, as well as his feelings about it being Jerribethâs blood specifically, the architect of Drezenâs fall, likely the cause of his familyâs deaths, likely the Glabrezu who made Leto start acting strangely, and a demon with untold amounts of innocent blood on her hands. Heâs wondering exactly what he wished forâhe assumes as a terrified tortured child who just saw his family tortured and killed that he probably wished for it to end and to be safe, but he doesnât know the exact wording, which with these things the exact wording is important. Heâs going to wait to talk to Nurah to try to regain his lost memories for that. Heâs also really worried about what sort of wish Leto made. And heâs worried that heâs compromised, that when he meets Jerribeth in person no matter how much he hates her sheâll be able to worm her way into his mind and make him do what she wants because of him being so bound to her. Plus the foreboding feeling about having a new mark of Deskari, and the fact he feel like more power began to awaken within him when he received it. The fear that his soul is bound for Deskari no matter how faithful he is to Iomedae, and had been since he was a child. Thereâs justâŚa lot.
He also just really wants to kill Jerribeth.

Their blood-bag
Marvel (and Matt Murdock) x Reader
Sum: Â Call it a disease, call it a curse or even call it a gift, in the end it's all the same. Vampirism has taken hold of your man, of your woman, and itâs time to deal with it.Â
Steve Rogers:
Itâs a secret that goes deeper than anything Hydra could have ever done. Thereâs a reason the serum could never be perfected again, as it wasnât just science Erskine had dipped into. And his soul might be somewhere other than Heaven for the things he had done to perfect it.
The âspecialâ food he always eats, the late-night missions and the artificial lighting used in any and all pictures. It all slaps you at once, in the middle of the night when the bed is cold again and you shouldnât get out of bed. You still do, you walk the few steps in the apartment to a living room where the darkness holds it steady.
Heâs there, but only as an outlined shape on the couch. Thereâs a square in his hands, a book thatâs been randomly appearing throughout the apartment. In the darkness you see his eyes, the ones that should be blue. But now theyâre wrong, just wrong enough that you stare for longer than you should have. Long enough for him to look up and to know what you do.
What was your plan after finding him in the dark? Confront him, ask him to change as if this was simply some sort of addiction he could overcome? None of that could happen.
Instead you stand in the doorway, staring. Steve sets his book to the side, closing it softly and saying your name just as gentle. You donât know if he started to get to follow you, as you had already gotten back into bed. Closing your eyes and pretending that ignorance was still your entire world.
Tony Stark:
In the past ten to fifteen years Tony has seen more magic, unexplained occurrences and straight up weird shit then any normal human ever could. That being said, there was still a scientific explanation for everything. For almost everything.
When it doesnât there was a problem. There was no medical reason for blood to sustain someone, or how rapidly his fingernails grew. Strange had agreed with him,
âNope, there isnât a medical reason for it.â He had said, dropping Tonyâs hands after being forced to look at them. âItâs a magical reason, Stark. Dumbed down version; youâre a vampire. Think of it like an STD.â
If you had your own time machine youâd go back and stop Stephen from describing it like that. You canât prove it, but this could be one of the reasons you havenât been together recently. Not just in the terms of sex, but cuddling, hugging even a kiss on the cheek heâd give when he had to leave for something. All of that was gone; replaced with a dodging head and a smile that couldnât come close.
Thor:
Since the infection Thor has taken trips to New Asgard once a month. Never outright telling anyone where he was going. Heâs just not next to you one night and returns the following evening. Itâs only through Brunnhilde that you even know where he is. Not that she is any better with texting or technology, at least she answers.
You offer for him to simply use you, save himself a trip and all that. But heâs bounced around the reason why for a while, until you make the only logical conclusion. âAre you saying that the Asgardians can handle you, while I canât?â
âYes,â He says, âBut itâs not just you. Midgardians are naturally weaker in comparison.â
The microaggression aside your relationship had shifted slightly because of this. He would always say no to your request with little more explanation then he already has. Like he was speaking to a determined little kid who just didnât understand that it wasnât healthy to lick the swing-set seat.
This was another common factors about Midgardians; you were a determined people. Even when it wasnât healthy. You continued to mention, to ask, to ask that he at least tries to save himself a trip.
The simple fact is you wouldnât be able to handle his hunger. His strength was already almost too much in bed, how would you handle it when the safe word doesnât work?
Bucky Barnes:
These are side-effects from the experimental serum. With the strength and speed came the hunger. Something added to the concoction to make his targets something he needs to obliterate, that it would feed him and keep him aligned no matter what.
Now, free from those monsters and masters, he still feels it poking at the back of his mind. Shaking his head to scramble the thoughts, but they form again and talk again and again.
That his target smiles at him almost every day, that you hold his hand and stay close and sleep beside him almost every night does not help. But he has control. He has enough control to allow you close. Enough to kiss you and drag his teeth along your neck without breaking the skin.
Itâs easiest when he canât see your face. When youâre just another bit of walking life he can fuck and touch and mean nothing. Itâs seeing you; your face, your voice, your eyes that he feels the hunger. But not to simply obliterate, he wants a drink and he wants you forever.
Natasha Romanoff:
The change happened and life moved on.
âNothing really changes because of this,â Natasha had said, focusing on the TV screen instead of you. âMissions are now at night and I never get a shake again, thatâs all. Nothing I canât handle.â
You really shouldnât have brought it up. Not when itâs a chill night where no one is expected to call and all that matters was the next episode to watch. But you had to say something, asking how sheâs doing. When you didnât like the answer, a little more digging had to be done.
In the recent weeks the only time youâve seen that blush in her cheeks was while she drank from her solid cup. It was bright orange with a black straw that hid itâs contents. A stark contrast from the see-through glass cups she used to drink her shakes through. That cup sat on the coffee table in front of you. Blending in with your own cup of the same make, but blue instead of orange.
Her bare legs across yours were smooth and soft as you gently caressed them. She faintly smelled like raspberries from the expensive body-wash (one of Natâs few vices) you would borrow sometimes.
âDonât lie to me,â You say, focused on the delicious legs that you squeezed. Either as a massage or as your personal stress ball.
She looks at you now. Although her eyes are the same color the difference was still there. Maybe a little more shine, or the pupils were naturally wider than a regular human, itâs hard to tell.
âIt sucks, it really fucking sucks and thereâs I or you can do.â She says, her hand on the back of your neck. âNothing we can do; we just have to keep going. But itâs going to be okay, okay?â
You donât agree, but you also donât argue. Itâs not going to be okay, these things will never be, but thereâs no use in arguing. Anyone in your position would wish for something different. Anyone would wish for the hand on your neck, and the legs in your lap, to be at least a little warm.
Tâchalla:
His people had a special word for it, but you couldnât really pronounce it. This word described it in both the realm of science and in legend. The Queen mother had explained it to you as a legend, a small curse that sometimes happens when the Heart-shaped herb is taken in. That heâll be stronger than others before him, but it came at a price of being forever hungry and a creature of the night.
Shuri had explained it medically but gave nothing that the Queen Mother didnât already say. That this hunger was just a side-effect of the herb. Panthers before him had the same problem, that they handled it through âvolunteersâ and enemies alike.
This was your new responsibility. Now more then the partner to The panther, partner to the king. You were his volunteer that sat in a chair twice a day, your own little throne in the corner of Shuriâs lab. With a tube leading into your arm and a nice glass of orange juice on the other side.
Tâchalla has only seen you in the throne once. When he was meandering about his kingdom, just happening to stop by the lab when you were down there. His steps now quieter than the âsneak-ersâ Shuri could have made. There wasnât a chance that youâd notice he was in the same room, not until the glass was empty that you bothered looking up. Seeing Tâchalla but not having enough time to say anything before he was gone again.
Pietro Maximoff:
A thumping heart beats faster then a stationary one. Be it from fear, or excitement or an orgasm, that moment was the best to take a bite. This thought first came to Pietroâs mind when a particularly scary moment came during a movie. Although you wouldnât admit to being scared, his light fingers on your pulse told another story.
By the time he got you back in the car your pulse had leveled out. Annoyance on both your parts at Pietro not being able to hide his disappointment.
It was only an hour or two later that he found your pulse racing again. When your back was pressed against his chest and a hand under your knee kept it raised. Toes in the air curling and flexing in a way that made language a very hard thing to comprehend.
Your pulse is lighting up from his hold under your knee. The physical equivalence of a heavenly aroma coming from a freshly baked pie.
Just like the cartoon characters he was compared to, he couldnât resist. The bite on your shoulder was an extra piece of weight pressed on the already crushing sensation of your orgasm. Although you had barely noticed the bite Pietro had drank his fill from just a few minutes of your groans and moans.
Falling face first into sleep after words was a rarity for you. Waking up with drool on your pillow and chin, and a headache that could be compared to a hangover.
Guilt was evident on Pietro as he was quick to get you a water, some breakfast from wherever, anything, anything at all. What he was guilty about, you didnât exactly know at that moment. Making a mental note to interrogate him later. For now you would just enjoy the pampering.
Peter Parker:
Something was up with Peter; he had expressed this to you a few times. Mentioned a few times to his friends and to Aunt May that he wasnât feeling too hot.
And feeling hot he was not. The exact opposite of a fever was happening as you placed a hand to his forehead. Aunt May keeping him from school and you keeping him from anything else. To keep an eye on him Aunt May would bring him to some of her shifts at the hospital. Parking his butt in the On-call room and stopping in whenever she could.
Stopping by the hospital Aunt May caught you coming in. Arms carrying the homework he was missing and the books you were going to force him to read. She, as every time, thanked you for coming and spoke in an almost whisper.
âThank you so much for coming again, I really appreciate this.â She says, looking around like a secret mission while digging through her pocket. Handing off a key to the apartment, newly minted. âWould you mind taking him home? Iâm gonna be late and I think Julian is going to snitch if Peterâs here any longer.â
âSure thing, Aunt May, Iâll take care of him.â You say, off to your mission.
The key to getting in at any hospital is to walk like you know where youâre going. Even if you donât, and youâre in the wrong building, walk like you own the place, like you have something important to tell the president, like someone just back talked your woman-folk. This was the sure-fire way to not be stopped. Even when walking into a room specific for staff.
The few days before you would walk in to see brown hair keeping out from the side where Peter would be sitting. Almost catatonic staring at the TV or magazine that the room provided. This time there was someone different, accidentally walking around the couch to find a medical intern dozing off where your man should have been. Making eye-contact and quickly turning away was the entirety of that interaction.
The bathrooms was the next train of thought where Peter could have been. Your stride had slowed but stayed strong as you walked to the bathrooms. Knocking a few times on the boys before you peeked your head in, nothing.
The amount of time you spent wondering around the hospital was longer than anyone would have liked to admit. Your strides losing the momentum of an important person walking through their halls to a confused, lost, girl trying to find an invisible boy.
Itâs only after passing a door in the deep reaches of the hospital that you stop for a second. Perhaps hanging out with Peter had gotten you some second-hand spidey-sense. Even if that wasnât the case, opening the heavy door the same color of white as the walls was the key to your missing man.
He sits in the cold storage room with his legs open and empty bags around him. At one point the shelves were probably full with red bags hanging up, waiting to be put to use. Now the bottom two rows were practically empty as Peter bit into the top like an ice cream cone. Instead of white or chocolate smearing his face it was thin red color covering the lower half of his face.
Seeing you in the doorway, look of shock and horror on your face, he didnât stop drinking. His eyes were wide and sad while staring up at you. Like a little kid that broke his arm and was standing at the kitchen door, waiting for Mom to notice and help. His eyes were starting to glisten, and tears were on the edge of his eyes, spilling over and cleaning streaks down his cheeks.
The pattern almost writing âhelp meâ on his cheeks.
Stephen Strange:
It wasnât that he exactly lied, he just didnât tell you what was going on. Brushing off all of your concerns as nothing more then a âlittle disease, nothing majorâ that you stupidly trusted. The man was so confident in his control of the situation that he would even ask you to grab him one of his âdrinksâ when you would grab yours from the fridge.
Itâs only when he gets a little too cocky that you find out. An actual blood bag with a damn twisty straw coming out of it rested in his hand while working on a laptop.
âHow long has this been going on?â You demand, as if his condition was the same to having an affair. âStephen, how long?â
The worst part was how he didnât seem to be ashamed about his secret. Only closing his laptop when you wouldnât him brushing the issue off. Sitting with his hands in a steeple and looking at you while talking.
âItâs been three months, almost four.â He explains. âWhile scouting another realm a creature, something like a bat, latched onto me. I returned and the symptoms started a few days later.â
âThe sore throat thing, thatâs what it was? You fucked around with a multi-verse and got infected.â You say, making sure you were on the same page.
âWell, it was an actual sore throat.â He says.
âStephen, stop.â You say, knowing that this wouldnât be going anywhere. You would just become more upset while he wouldnât understand what the problem was.
Matt Murdock:
Only once before could Matt remember not hearing anything. When the world was silent but the touch of everything was louder than a jet engine. That moment was created from pride and a specialized gunshot, and it was a moment in hell.
This one was created by ignoring a bite wound (a tetanus shot should have been good enough) and equally ignoring the changes in his body. By the time his heart slowed to nothing in the middle of the night it was too late. He was dead, but the hunger was alive.
It only became something more than an extreme annoyance when you had interfered. The knife you used cutting farther then you had meant to through the steak. Just deep enough to make you cry out. Dropping the knife and holding your hand. Sucking on the thick skin just below your thumb, turning away as if Matt could even see what was going on.
You could hear him get up from the couch, walking across the apartment to you.
âCheap knife and cheaper steak, whatâd did I expect.â You say, your wounded hand pulled away from your chest by Matt. âI doubt Iâll need stitches just a band-aidâŚWhat the actual fuck are you doing?â
His touch is as gentle as ever. Yet this did little to distract you from him lifting your hand to his mouth. Pressed so close under his nose that it smeared a bit of red on the underside of his nose.
âMathew,â You say, concerned but not ripping your hand away yet.
Itâs when his mouth opens, and he groans, that you try and pull away. His grip now stronger than vice could ever be. One hand holding your wrist, the other almost crushing your fingers. Keeping you from pulling away or escaping.
âMathew, Matt stop!â Was the last thing he hears before going for a stronger source of the blood. Your smell of sweat and fear intoxicating as he bit into the crook of your arm.
Unlike last time the silence of the world wasnât a terrifying thing that he screamed at. It wasnât even something he noticed. All that mattered was the warmth and love and taste of everything on earth coming through his brain and right into his absolute core.
The neighbors have learned to stop caring about the noises that come from the Murdock apartment. With a blind man, brick walls and an almost constant stream of people coming in to yell at him the neighbors have learned to tune it out. A screaming woman from his apartment in the last months to years was also nothing new.
The only thing that could save you was the sating of his hunger. And that only happens after your legs have given out and voice is hoarse. Still muttering Mattâs name when he starts to hear once more.
Carol Danvers:
In all magic and the unexplained there is always a small amount of structure to be found. The specific set of rules that the creature or spell or whatever has to follow or be destroyed. One of these, pertaining to the vampire, was the sun.
A few minutes in the unforgiving rays and there shouldnât be too much damage on the monsters. But a bite right to the hot, powerful source of the sunâs cousin? Thatâs a one-way trip to absolute obliteration.
Carol described the slight second of surprise the bastard had before exploding. She smiled and handed off your drink while trying to imitate the face it had made. Flopping back onto the couch next to you, mentioning that it had bitten her and then poof!
âYou were bit by a vampire?â You ask, drink not yet touching your lips.
She nods, setting her bottle down with an almost aggressive click on the coffee table. Without her longer hair she couldnât make a production of showing off her neck. Instead tilting her head to the side and pulling her shirt off of her shoulder. Showing two little dots of black on her neck. Gentle fingers touching the dots with a smile.
âI didnât even notice until it exploded,â She says.
Leaning forward and then back you start to talk. âYou were bit by a vampire, and you just came home like nothing? Babe, seriously?â
She looks at you for just a second before her face falls. âI didnât get infected or anythingâŚâ But her eyes are looking else where for a second.
That was all you needed to know that she did not get tested or anything. Even with all the technology that could test anything. Shaking your head you stand up from the couch. Carol calling âBabe,â after you, not even considering what she could do differently.

She-who-fights-and-writes Coronacation Book Rec List
I know that a lot of people are stuck at home right now in dire need of entertainment, so I decided Iâd put out a book recommendations list of all the books Iâm currently reading and all of my must-reads!
(Just a note that a lot of these are Fantasy because Iâm a fantasy nerd haha)
Books/Series I am currently reading
1. The Folk of the Air Trilogy by Holly Black (Currently on #2, The Wicked King)
Genre:Â High Fantasy
Setting: The land of Faerie which is kind of historical, but in the human world it is modern day
Main cast :
Jude Duarte (white, human, cutthroat, if I saw her in a Dennyâs Parking Lot at 3am I would RUN)
Cardan Greenbriar (white, faerie, the true embodiment of Bastard)
Vivienne (Judeâs half-sister, lesbian with canon gf, half-human half-faerie, I would totally try to be her friend)
Taryn Duarte (Judeâs twin sister, queen doormat, still, I would take a bullet for her sheâs jUST TRYING TO FIT IN)
Rating: 5/5 Stars
These books have been on my âTo Readâ list for so long now and for some reason I just never got around to reading them! Hands-down, these are some of the best high fantasy books that Iâve read in a long, long while.
I finished the first book, The Cruel Prince, in just two days and rated it 5/5 stars! Even though these books are high fantasy and focus on the traditions and ways of life of faeries, somehow all of the characters seem like I could meet them in real life!
The main character actually has genuine flaws and not just ââââflawsââââ and is a Bad Bitch down with murder, and the plot had me on the edge of my seat from page one!
The summary makes it sound like itâs going to be about their romance, but itâs really mostly about a power struggle and Jude being a badass.
Goodreads summary for The Cruel Prince:
Jude was seven when her parents were murdered and she and her two sisters were stolen away to live in the treacherous High Court of Faerie. Ten years later, Jude wants nothing more than to belong there, despite her mortality. But many of the fey despise humans. Especially Prince Cardan, the youngest and wickedest son of the High King. To win a place at the Court, she must defy himâand face the consequences. As Jude becomes more deeply embroiled in palace intrigues and deceptions, she discovers her own capacity for trickery and bloodshed. But as betrayal threatens to drown the Courts of Faerie in violence, Jude will need to risk her life in a dangerous alliance to save her sisters, and Faerie itself.
2. The Raven Cycle Series by Maggie Stiefvater (Currently on #1, The Raven Boys)
Genre: Present-Day/Realistic Fantasy (?)
Setting: The fictional town of Henrietta, Virginia
I havenât gotten around to much of the book, so thereâs not much I can tell you about the characters and I canât properly give it a rating yet.
These books were also on my âTo Readâ list for a while; I was a huge fan of her book The Scorpio Races and have also been looking for something to quench my thirst for âprivate school/ghosts/magicâ that Iâve been dealing with ever since I read The Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo.
Iâve only JUST started The Raven Cycle yesterday, but so far I am hooked! Iâm super worried because Iâm TERRIBLE at juggling two series at a time but both of these are just so interesting!Â
Goodreads Summary for The Raven Boys:
âThere are only two reasons a non-seer would see a spirit on St. Markâs Eve,â Neeve said. âEither youâre his true love . . . or you killed him.â It is freezing in the churchyard, even before the dead arrive. Every year, Blue Sargent stands next to her clairvoyant mother as the soon-to-be dead walk past. Blue herself never sees themânot until this year, when a boy emerges from the dark and speaks directly to her. His name is Gansey, and Blue soon discovers that he is a rich student at Aglionby, the local private school. Blue has a policy of staying away from Aglionby boys. Known as Raven Boys, they can only mean trouble. But Blue is drawn to Gansey, in a way she canât entirely explain. He has it allâfamily money, good looks, devoted friendsâbut heâs looking for much more than that. He is on a quest that has encompassed three other Raven Boys: Adam, the scholarship student who resents all the privilege around him; Ronan, the fierce soul who ranges from anger to despair; and Noah, the taciturn watcher of the four, who notices many things but says very little. For as long as she can remember, Blue has been warned that she will cause her true love to die. She never thought this would be a problem. But now, as her life becomes caught up in the strange and sinister world of the Raven Boys, sheâs not so sure anymore.
MY MUST-READ BOOK LIST
1. The Gentlemanâs Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee
Genre: Historical Fiction
Setting: 1700s Europe (England, Paris, Barcelona, Marseilles, Venice)
Main cast (Iâll try my best not to spoil anything because you find out a LOT of different stuff about these characters throughout the book):
Henry âMontyâ Montague (white, bi/pansexual, attitude problem)
Percy Newton (mixed race, gay, very sweet boy, definitely got âmost likely to bring home to momâ in the yearbook)
Felicity Montague (white, Montyâs little sister, headcanoned as asexual, I love her to death)
Rating: 5/5 Stars
Daring adventure, gay representation, historical setting, hilarious characters!
This book literally has it all! I would consider it one of my favorite books of all time, yet for some reason Iâve never gotten around to reading any of the sequel books! The ending is very satisfying and ties everything together, which I feel is part of the reason why I havenât gotten around to them yet.Â
Therefore, it can serve as a one-shot read or a full series if you want to dive into something good!
The humor made me laugh out loud at points and all of the characters are very real and very, very relatable, not to mention the vivid settings of 1700s Europe!
Goodreads summary:
Henry âMontyâ Montague was born and bred to be a gentleman, but he was never one to be tamed. The finest boarding schools in England and the constant disapproval of his father havenât been able to curb any of his roguish passionsânot for gambling halls, late nights spent with a bottle of spirits, or waking up in the arms of women or men. But as Monty embarks on his Grand Tour of Europe, his quest for a life filled with pleasure and vice is in danger of coming to an end. Not only does his father expect him to take over the familyâs estate upon his return, but Monty is also nursing an impossible crush on his best friend and traveling companion, Percy. Still it isnât in Montyâs nature to give up. Even with his younger sister, Felicity, in tow, he vows to make this yearlong escapade one last hedonistic hurrah and flirt with Percy from Paris to Rome. But when one of Montyâs reckless decisions turns their trip abroad into a harrowing manhunt that spans across Europe, it calls into question everything he knows, including his relationship with the boy he adores.
2. The Ninth House By Leigh Bardugo
Genre: Horror, FantasyÂ
Setting: Yale University and the town of New Haven, Present Day
Main cast:
Galaxy âAlexâ Stern (Hispanic, sees dead people, very scary)
Daniel Arlington âDarlingtonâ (white, rich, an angel who can sometimes be a dick)
Pamela Dawes (tbh I honestly donât remember what she looks like, only that sheâs a tired grad student with big nerd energy)
Detective Alan Turner (Black, takes shit from nobody, husband material)
Rating: 4/5 Stars
(NOTE: THIS IS VERY DARK ADULT FICTION AND CONTAINS MATERIAL THAT MAY BE TRIGGERING FOR SOME PEOPLE, WOULD NOT RECOMMEND FOR PEOPLE UNDER 16)
This book is a great read for someone whoâs looking for a disturbing, gritty book with layers upon layers of secrets that you have to peel away as the mystery unfolds. I love the secret societies and the intricate magic systems that the book introduces, and it actually made me hungry for more books like it!
Alex is a three-dimensional, very real character who also serves as an unreliable narrator who witholds or warps the information that sheâs telling you, making the narrative all the more riveting.
The only issues that I have with it are the fact that Leigh Bardugo kind of just dumps you in the middle of it without explaining stuff first, to the point where it kind of feels like youâre reading the second installment of a series rather than the first one, so things can get a bit confusing at first.
The book also can drag and draw things out for a bit too long, but once the plot fully kicks into gear, you will not be able to put it down!
Goodreads summary:
Galaxy âAlexâ Stern is the most unlikely member of Yaleâs freshman class. Raised in the Los Angeles hinterlands by a hippie mom, Alex dropped out of school early and into a world of shady drug dealer boyfriends, dead-end jobs, and much, much worse. By age twenty, in fact, she is the sole survivor of a horrific, unsolved multiple homicide. Some might say sheâs thrown her life away. But at her hospital bed, Alex is offered a second chance: to attend one of the worldâs most elite universities on a full ride. Whatâs the catch, and why her? Still searching for answers to this herself, Alex arrives in New Haven tasked by her mysterious benefactors with monitoring the activities of Yaleâs secret societies. These eight windowless âtombsâ are well-known to be haunts of the future rich and powerful, from high-ranking politicos to Wall Street and Hollywoodâs biggest players. But their occult activities are revealed to be more sinister and more extraordinary than any paranoid imagination might conceive.
3. The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer
Genre: Sci-Fi/Fantasy
Setting: Earth, Space, The Moon
Main cast :
Linh Cinder (Chinese, based on Cinderella, cyborg, certified badass)
Scarlet Benoit (French, based on Little Red Riding Hood, farmer who is not afraid to shoot you)
Cress Darnel (White, based on Rapunzel, nerd, I will protect her with my life if I have to)
Kaito âKaiâ (Chinese, based on Prince Charming, kind of has to run a whole country, a very kind soul, deserves a nap)
Carswell Thorne (White, based off of Rapunzelâs Prince, bastard)
Winter Hayle (Black, based off of Snow White, royalty, has super special powers)
Wolf (Race unspecified, based off of the Big Bad Wolf, charming killing machine, furry????)Â
Rating: 5/5 Stars
Do you like fairy tales?
Have you ever wanted to know what fairy tales would be like if they took place in the FUTURE instead of the PAST?Â
Do you like an amazing, hilarious cast paired with a super interesting plot?Â
These are the books for you!
I havenât read them in so long, but I remember how much joy I felt while devouring these pages. Definitely something you will not able to put down!
Goodreads Summary for Book #1: Cinder:Â
Humans and androids crowd the raucous streets of New Beijing. A deadly plague ravages the population. From space, a ruthless lunar people watch, waiting to make their move. No one knows that Earth's fate hinges on one girl. . . . Cinder, a gifted mechanic, is a cyborg. She's a second-class citizen with a mysterious past, reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister's illness. But when her life becomes intertwined with the handsome Prince Kai's, she suddenly finds herself at the center of an intergalactic struggle, and a forbidden attraction. Caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal, she must uncover secrets about her past in order to protect her world's future.
4. The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller
Genre: Fantasy
Setting: Ancient Greece
Main cast:
Patroclus (Greek, Gay, quiet pining)Â
Achilles (Greek, gay, very strong, student athlete energy)
Brisies (Anatolian, clever, literally the only one in this story who has a brain cell)
Rating: 100000/5 stars
This is basically the Iliad but if historians hadnât completely erased Patroclus and Achillesâ relationship. âHaha yeah these guys were totally brosâ they say, even though I have read the Iliad and their relationship isnât even subtle.
This book made me cry at least ten times. Itâs just so beautifully written and has such a distinct vibe to it that whenever I crack it open for another time, it takes me straight back to the vacation that I read it on. (Needless to say, sobbing your eyes out can be less than helpful when youâre on the beach)
If you can only read one book on this list, it should be this one. I could talk all day about it and write novels on just how much of an incredible writer Madeline Miller is, but I feel like youâd get my drift a bit better if you actually read the book.
Goodreads Summary:
Greece in the age of heroes. Patroclus, an awkward young prince, has been exiled to the court of King Peleus and his perfect son Achilles. By all rights their paths should never cross, but Achilles takes the shamed prince as his friend, and as they grow into young men skilled in the arts of war and medicine their bond blossoms into something deeper - despite the displeasure of Achilles' mother Thetis, a cruel sea goddess. But then word comes that Helen of Sparta has been kidnapped. Torn between love and fear for his friend, Patroclus journeys with Achilles to Troy, little knowing that the years that follow will test everything they hold dear. Profoundly moving and breathtakingly original, this rendering of the epic Trojan War is a dazzling feat of the imagination, a devastating love story, and an almighty battle between gods and kings, peace and glory, immortal fame and the human heart.
Hope this list helps you through your coronacation, and please donât be afraid to reblog or message me to tell me if youâve read/will read any of these!

Day - Valentineâs, Night - Off
Briar + Qrow Branwen ( @dustyqrowofmisfortune )
⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠âŚ
Briar squints confused golden eyes, leaning in and staring up, hands on her hips, âQrow, I KNOW you are not trying to confess something serious to me in the middle of the street in the middle of the afternoon on Valentine's Day.â
He leans back for a moment when she gets in his space, then puts his hands in his pockets and recoils a bit, âFine, you're right. It's fucking dumb anyway.â
⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠âŚ
âIt's a day for spreading L O V E! I don't care what kind! Where is everyone?â Time to get this city in the mood. Briar kicks open Harmonzier and sets up right in the street.
⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠âŚ
Qrow takes up a seat on a wall nearby. âYou're having way too much fun with this Big Bad,â he laughs.
⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠âŚ
âIf I want other people to have fun, I have to be twice the example!â
⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠âŚ
âDoes it always have to be overboard or nothing with you?â
⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠âŚ
âWhat other way is there to live, baby?â
⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠âŚ
He hops down off the wall and strides over to her, âYou're gonna burn out if you're not careful...â was that genuine concern in his voice?
⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠âŚ
âAwww, Qrow, you care? I'm touched. Don't worry,â she boops his nose. âI hit the beat hard but I know it means nothing without rest notes. All in good time, hmm?â
⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠âŚ
âSo what if I do?â He shrugs and wiggles his nose from the boop.
⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠âŚ
âSo what? Mmm... nope! Not my job to do that soul searching for you. Figure it out, then let me know.â
⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠âŚ
A frustration fueled sigh... since he was actually trying to tell her he did, âJeez Briar... I'm trying to tell ya I do...â
⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠âŚ
She cants her head, âI know. I just sai... ohhhhh you want me to say I care in return, huh? Has that not been clear?â Her tail droops.
⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠âŚ
He shakes his head, âNo, I know... that wasn't what I was getting at.â A hand runs through his hair.
⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠âŚ
She squints confused golden eyes, leaning in and staring up, hands on her hips, âQrow, I KNOW you are not trying to confess something more serious to me in the middle of the street in the middle of the afternoon on Valentine's Day.â
⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠âŚ
He leans back for a moment when she gets in his space, then puts his hands in his pockets and recoils a bit, âFine, you're right. It's fucking dumb anyway.â
⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠âŚ
Her eyes open, then even wider, not put off at all by his dourness, only taking it as confirmation, âOh my gods you are, aren't you?â
⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠âŚ
âLook, I'm no good at this shit okay? But why do you think I let ya hang around with my cursed ass all this time? Damn it Briar...â he sighs.
⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠âŚ
She takes a deep breath and tries to keep her tail from fluffing âNo good? Let me? Cursed?? Brothers there is so much to unpack here. Who are you and what have you done with Qrow Branwen, and...âÂ
Her face suddenly changes, lights up, âAre you free tomorrow? You know, when it's not one of my biggest love-spreading, harmony-promoting, money-making days??â
⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠âŚ
He reaches for his flask. She's right. This isn't him but... âForget it... you know where to find me, you always do.â
⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠âŚ
And just as quickly the light dies, âNo date, then? Not even staying for the show?â her eyes find and linger on the flask, not upset just... sad, âIt seems we both have our own priorities, then. Yeah, I'll be around."Â
Still no closer than the periphery, apparently.
⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠âŚ
And yet again his self depreciating personality makes a shit show of things. Seeing the look though, he puts the flask away "That's not what I meant and you know it. And I didn't say anything about leaving did I?" why did this have to be so damn hard? "Unless ya want me to..."
⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠âŚ
âNo! No I don't know it! Quit being so obtuse! It doesn't have to be hard!â Briar doesn't know Qrowâs thoughts, but hard is exactly what he's making it.Â
âSay what you mean and do whatever what you want. I've told you before I don't deal in half-hearted. Overboard or nothing, you said it yourself!âÂ
Why does he always make her so angry when all she wants to do is care?
⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠âŚ
Anger rises in red eyes, not at her, but because she's right. She passes him off just as much as he does her... she pushes him.Â
"I can't be anything but me Briar," a huff, fists clench, "I'm not being half-hearted, I just don't know how to deal with this shit... with people being close to me. You say do what I want... fine."Â
Fists unfold and he grabs her and just kisses her... messy but real
⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠âŚ
She should have known, should have smelled the shift, but didn't over the sense of her beating heart. Now here she is, Briar Rieka - superficially tangled all the way around the city with no one but herself at her center, yet being kissed by a world renowned huntsman in the middle of the street in the middle of the afternoon on Valentine's day.Â
The day when she's supposed to spread love to the masses and go home alone, just like always, and so when she said overboard or nothing she expected nothing, and so squeaks and whimpers since Qrow left no more room for words.
Her tail shoots straight, and her eyes shoot open, until he keeps going, sloppily satisfying, and she relaxes, then throws herself into it - helplessly, recklessly, wholly; the bitter indulgence of whiskey and honesty on lips finer than any artificial sweetness from chocolate covered strawberries.
⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠âŚ
Expectations... people should know better than to have them around him, especially her. Â For a moment he had toyed with the nothing option but he couldn't, Â no wouldn't, Â walk away again. Â
Qrow Branwen, Mr. Drunk Loser Hall of Fame inductee, Mr. Always Works Alone... didn't want that anymore. She GOT him, didn't give an inch but still gave him space. She could withstand his shitstorms... both inside and out.Â
He could feel her surprise... feel her melt into it. In the middle of the afternoon, on some random street, on this dopes holiday... it was exactly the right time for this. It was HIM time to do this.Â
Freaked as he was, he could taste her sweet, wild freedom and it was infectious... and also breathtaking. So much so, when he finally comes out of that blissful fog, his breathing quick, face bright red as his eyes as they focus on her... Â "Briar... I..."
⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠âŚ
He grows, and she can feel it.Â
Feel it in the way he kisses her like she's never been kissed before. Rough lips with gentle affection, deeper and yet softer than those who would slam her against a nightclub wall or dive into any old warm body in lust and desperation. It is expression, feeling, he is finally allowing himself to feel, enough to flush his face with heat that spills over for hers to match, and it is delicious to her whole body.Â
He has done it - managed to leave the speeding, howling she-wolf stalled out and speechless, nothing but the perpetual song in her heart to sound out as a hazy hum while she leans into his shoulder and gazes up with starry eyes, waiting to find out if there is more to that thought, "Hmmm?"
⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠âŚ
Qrow feels like he's back at Beacon with the stupid school boy crush, but that's how he knows... knows this is persistent, real. He holds her there in the middle of the street not caring that the location sucks.Â
It's so them.Â
"That..." it's rare but the huntsman is oddly speechless. He thinks he should apologize for being a dick all this time but now doesn't feel right... He decides to just hold her tight. "So... still interested in that date?"
⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠âŚ
Briar has done far worse in public, and if V-day isn't a time for PDA then when is?
She nuzzles in so deep she almost forgets about Harmonizer, and certainly forgets about everything that never needed an apology. Qrow can only be himself, as he said, and she has never held that against him, only held her own against anything that pushed too hard on her own standards.Â
Besides, it's not like she isn't, well, literally a bitch to deal with too. He wraps his arms fearlessly around her thorns, somehow ensnaring her instead. Well, if he can put the flask away then she can let a little go too...Â
"Yeah." she says dreamily, "Suddenly I feel too old to be working every holiday. ...Think I'll take that rest beat and save going hard for something else~"
⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠âŚ
He can't help the smirk and light snicker that goes with her words. If she expected that little allusion to go unnoticed she was sorely mistaken. Not that the thought didn't have his face warming just a bit though. It's actually a little odd seeing her this way... dreamy and soft maybe? It makes him uncomfortable but in the best way. It was only because he was more used to her more no bullshit, tough love-esque typical demeanor.Â
That's all it was... yeah.Â
"Shut it Big Bad, you're not old, but yeah... take the night off. Just... just you and and me, you pick where. And..." breaking away for a moment, reaching into his shirt, he pulls the flask out and hands it to her, "You keep track of this so I'm not tempted to make an ass of myself when I inevitable manage to fuck something up tonight."
⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠âŚ
Both, always both. Qrow, willing enough to concede some sticking points of Briar's briars may see the sweeping sweetness of the softest tail in Remnant.
...But even a kiss like that still isn't enough to make him drop the nickname. (...Is he still afraid?) Her eyes drop to the ground as she processes and ponders, and thinks about her answer, but they pull back up to the movement and sloshing sound of the flask.Â
She takes it in nimble fingers, turns it over and recognizes once more his very emblem, very self, on the object. Her first thought is to pour the whole thing out. Dramatic, showy. Wouldn't even be a waste of the good stuff - it's not.Â
But no, she glances up at him, with bittersweet understanding. This is not a spilling dry and starting over kind of statement. It's taking the night off, and it is trust. It is not Briar forcing her hand or will over Qrow's vices, but temptation remaining present so she might stand between Qrow and it, become a part of his own decision.Â
"Alright." she says quietly, tucking it deep into a leather jacket pocket; then, with more verve and a raised brow "But I wouldn't expect much else from you anyway. But hey... Â fucking it up is also a term used for having fun you know!"
She-wolf nuzzles into Qrow's neck, still soaking up the closeness, still sharing her warmth, "I go out with so many people... always a crowd. Always worried about thinning out my semblance... If I can pick where..." her hands curl into his shirt, less flirtatious, more desperate, starved, "can't we just stay in somewhere? I would pick..." gold gaze stays trained on him, pleading.Â
"I want to be alone with you, Qrow"
⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠âŚ
That was the thing, nicknames, persisting ones, were for people close to him, people he gave a shit about. The one given her was likely never something he'd give up, not unless she explicitly told him to. It was a term of endearment really. Given names were formalities and formalities were the last thing he wanted, especially with her.Â
As for the flask, she wasn't wrong. He wasn't ready to give it up entirely, not yet. Someday maybe... but he trusted her to keep the demons at bay, at least for the night. This was about them at last being honest with each other, him being honest with her more so than anything, or maybe himself. He sees where she puts his crutch though, knows where it is. Close but not readily at his command. He's relinquished control and that itself speaks volumes and by the way she's responding, it feels like there's a measure of that going on between them both.
Things could get interesting quickly and there's a certain thrill and anxiety that lurks in him for it, "Stay in... alone... just fucking up in each other's company huh?" There's a bit of a laugh as he accepts that desperate feeling cling to his shirt.Â
"Well, unless you're up for some no name inn or hotel, it would have to be your place. We both know I can't keep a place of my own to save my life."
⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠⌠âŚ
Briar's tail flicks and her lip quirks at his quip. There's a sense of satisfaction that settles in her bones along with the weight in her pocket that she's done something right. He accepts so casually smooth with a laugh that's rough, and it balances all the shifts in her moods. So strangely opposite of his usual effect on her.Â
"You're more than welcome in my home, but does that honestly mean you didn't even have something set up for yourself tonight? My you really are a drifter."Â And yet he smells so good mixed with the outside air, it makes sense, fits. She almost feels bad about asking to bringing him within four walls. But not bad enough to not still want some privacy.Â
Her tail twitches again as she revels in the prospect, giving away her continued excited anticipation, âSo be it.â

Episode 4âFarewell My Friend; Scene 2
Judgment of Corruption, pages 109-115
The main base of operations for the Yarera Zusco Conglomerate was in Aceid, the capital of the country of Elphegort to the south of Holy Levianta.
Gallerian and Kayoâthat is, Maâvisited its main headquarters in order to meet with Gusuma Yarera, Miraâs older brother and also the vice-president of the company that served as the core of the conglomerate.
ââAs you requested, Iâve cleared the place of people. There shouldnât be anyone who knows that you two are meeting with me hereâŚOutside of my sister.â
Gusuma looked a touch displeased as he spoke to them, a cigarette clamped in his mouth. He was a big man with an unshaven face, sitting solidly in a ridiculously large chair.
âSo, the screenwriter that was found innocent, and a judge who died in an accident in a snow field. Had no idea Iâd be meeting with two people whoâve made front page news like this.â
To that Ma smiled and replied, âIâm surprised too. That the vice-president of the supreme Yarera Zusco Conglomerate looks like this much of a brigand.â
âA brigand, huh? Heh heh, I get that a lot. The ancestral head of the Yarera family was once a pirate, so Iâm told. I take it as a complimentâSo, whaddya want?â
Gallerian took a step forward.
âI wish to charge Loki Freezis for his crimes. I want to take everything he has done behind the scenes up until now and bring it out into the light of dayâFor that I would like your assistance.â
âLoki, ehâŚThat cockroach thatâs always hanging around my little sister. I had heard some unsavory rumorsâHow would you have me help you?â
Ma gestured by making a circle with her fingers, and then appealed to Gusuma. âMoney, of course. âŚA provision of funds. Weâll need to hand more money to the head judge than the Freezis Conglomerate in order to win the trial.â
âSo itâs a battle of bribes then. If that means driving Loki away from my sister and striking a blow against the hated Freezis Conglomerate, that doesnât sound too shabby for meâŚHowever.â Gusuma crossed his arms and leaned back further in his chair. âIf youâre going up against the Freezises, youâll need a substantial amount of capital. Itâll be tricky for me to move that kind of money by myself. I would need to get permission from Momâer, sorryâthe president.â
âCanât you persuade her, given that youâre the vice-president?â
Gusumaâs expression tightened in response to Gallerianâs inquiry.
ââŚThe president is very moderate, politically. Itâs her policy not to make waves with the Freezises as much as she can. Changing her mind on thatâwonât be so straightforward.â
Ma gazed at Gusuma as he was deep in thought, and then suddenly cut in with, ââAs I recall, the president has someone that she dotes upon like a son.â
ââŚWoman. Youâre unusually well informed.â
âYou come to catch a lot of gossip when youâre looking for content for screenplays.â
ââŚWhen the president was young, she had someone that she loved a great deal. In the end she and the man were never joined, and she married someone elseâthat someone being mine and Miraâs fatherâŚApparently, even after marrying, the president continued to harbor affection for this other man.â
âOh yes. The romance of a young woman of the Yarera Zusco Conglomerate. Exceptional material for the plot of a story.â
ââWell, the man she didnât get with ended up marrying some other woman and had a child with her, but a little while later the airship that the whole family was riding on crashed. The child somehow managed to cling to life, but his parents died instantly. Worse, this ship was one developed by a subsidiary company of the Yarera Zusco Conglomerate. âŚI have never seen the president look so crushed, either before or since.â
âSo she took in the surviving son?â
âIt wasnât an official adoption. There are a lot of things that made it complicated for her as the head of a large conglomerate. Even so, she doted on him tremendously. And I wound up getting along with him as though we were brothers. âŚBut at some point he started getting deranged.â
Gallerian had been silently listening to their conversation to this point, but then suddenly lit up, as though having recalled something. âI seeâyou mean âJorm Zuscoâ!â
âVery good, judge. I guess you would know that name. âThatâs correct. Heâs currently in prison, having received a death penalty verdict.â
âA serial murderer of young womenâŚA violent offender whoâs slaughtered over ten people. Publicly thereâs no connection between him and the Yarera Zusco Conglomerateââ
âIt was our only way of protecting the conglomerate. But the president is always worrying about him. Even if he wound up a murderer, to him she is just her precious sonâŚThatâs why.â
Ma approached Gusuma, and put a hand on his enormous shoulder.
Then she interjected, âWe will release Jorm ZuscoâAs a condition, the president will grant us the funds we need.â
The person who looked the most shocked at that, moreso than Gusuma, was Gallerian.
âDonât be absurd, Ma! Jorm is a serial killer! We canât just let a man like that loose on the worldâ"
âMy my. Calm yourself, Gallerian. Despite all your protestations this is our only option, seeing as how we have no alternatives.â
âButâŚItâs easy to say weâll release him, but thereâs no way weâd get clearance for that.â
âBy ordinary means, sureâŚBut if we have âspecial permitâ from the Dark Star Bureau director itâll be a different story.â
ââThatâs only supposed to be given out in times when weâre undertaking special plea bargains.â
âIndeed. Thatâs why we need even more money for Hanmaâs bribe. But if it means saving the life of her beloved âsonââthe president would gladly pay it, wouldnât she?â
ââŚâ Gusuma had been glaring at Ma through their conversation, but then his expression suddenly relaxed, and he boomed with laughter. âHa ha ha! What a frightening woman you are. ButâŚI kinda like it. How about it, wanna be my gal? Youâd be the wife of the future president.â
âSorry, but Iâm not that fond of bears. Iâll have to decline.â
âI see. Disappointing, but nothing for itâAlright. I will tell the president of your conditions.â
âDonât forget. We can only release Jorm after everything is over. SoâI want a âdepositâ immediately up front. If Jorm is executed early, then weâll lose everything. Weâll need to bribe Hanma to make a stay of execution.â
âGot itâŚWait just a minute.â
Gusuma opened a drawer of the desk in front of him, took out a bar of gold, and tossed it to Ma.
âIs this enough?â
âThatâs plenty. Thanks.â
Ma hurriedly shoved the bar into her pocket.
.
After leaving the headquarters, Gallerian started speaking to Ma.
âThat lump of goldâŚHow do you plan to hand that to the director?â
âYou still shouldnât meet up with Hanma. And itâd be unwise for me of all people to go to the Dark Star BureauâŚIâll have Hel take care of it.â
âHel JaakkoâŚThat haughty daughter of the historian Heaven.â
âOn the surface, she works as a clerk at the Freezis Conglomerate. It wonât be that difficult for her to get into the Dark Star Bureau under some pretext of it being for her job or something. Weâll just have to take care that she doesnât run into Loki.â
âWhy is she willing to betray the conglomerate despite being one of their clerks?â
âIt is precisely because she works there. She has seen much of the Freezisâ dirty laundry with her own eyes. She has a very strong sense of justice. And that in itself is why she was unable to bear being involved so considerably in their work. SoâŚshe joined with Bruno.â
âBruno Zero. Is that Maistian your leader?â
Ma nodded.
âHe is.â
âI was sure that you were the leader.â
âIâm just a collaborator. Like you. Iâm going along with their plan because it aligns with my own interests.â
âHow did you come to meet them?â
âThis case wasnât the start of it. âŚWeâre old acquaintances, Bruno and I.â
ââŚThat doesnât really answer my question.â
âMen shouldnât pry into every single detail. âŚCome, letâs move quickly. We mustnât be seen.â
The two of them climbed into Maâs automobile that she had parked in a back alley behind the headquarters.
.
Four days later, the Dark Star Bureau announced a stay of execution for the convicted murderer Jorm Zusco.
The reason being that âsome new information had been found regarding the crimes he committedâ.

Anime iâve Watched
That begin with a SÂ (Part 2)!
Yep this is how iâm going to bring over all the anime and manga iâve watched and posted about on the old blog. Itâs not so detailed but it will have to do. Anything new I watch or read from this point on will have their own posts.
Shimoneta to Iu Gainen ga Sonzai Shinai Taikutsu na Sekai:
Genres: Comedy, Ecchi, School
Synopsis:Â With the introduction of strict new morality laws, Japan has become a nation cleansed of all that is obscene and impure. By monitoring citizens using special devices worn around their necks, authorities have taken extreme measures to ensure that society remains chaste. In this world of sexual suppression, Tanukichi Okumaâson of an infamous terrorist who opposed the chastity lawsâhas just entered high school, offering his help to the student council in order to get close to president Anna Nishikinomiya, his childhood friend and crush. Little does he know that the vice president Ayame Kajou has a secret identity: Blue Snow, a masked criminal dedicated to spreading lewd material amongst the sheltered publicâand Tanukichi has caught the girl's interest due to his father's notoriety. Soon, Tanukichi is dragged into joining her organization called SOX, where he is forced to spread obscene propaganda, helping to launch an assault against the government's oppressive rule. With their school set as the first point of attack, Tanukichi will have to do the unthinkable when he realizes that their primary target is the person he admires most. [Written by MAL Rewrite]
My Rating: 7/10
Finished airing in 2015 with a total of 12 episodes.Â
My Thoughts: Super pervy but surprisingly funny and somewhat enjoyable. The only character that really made me cringe hard and want to tear my eyes out and scrub my brain was Anna... she was just too much. Just no. Not one iâd suggest or am likely to watch again but if itâs your thing, go for it.Â
Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan):
Genres: Action, Military, Mystery, Super Power, Drama, Fantasy, Shounen
Synopsis: Centuries ago, mankind was slaughtered to near extinction by monstrous humanoid creatures called titans, forcing humans to hide in fear behind enormous concentric walls. What makes these giants truly terrifying is that their taste for human flesh is not born out of hunger but what appears to be out of pleasure. To ensure their survival, the remnants of humanity began living within defensive barriers, resulting in one hundred years without a single titan encounter. However, that fragile calm is soon shattered when a colossal titan manages to breach the supposedly impregnable outer wall, reigniting the fight for survival against the man-eating abominations. After witnessing a horrific personal loss at the hands of the invading creatures, Eren Yeager dedicates his life to their eradication by enlisting into the Survey Corps, an elite military unit that combats the merciless humanoids outside the protection of the walls. Based on Hajime Isayama's award-winning manga, Shingeki no Kyojin follows Eren, along with his adopted sister Mikasa Ackerman and his childhood friend Armin Arlert, as they join the brutal war against the titans and race to discover a way of defeating them before the last walls are breached. [Written by MAL Rewrite]
My Rating: 9/10
Finished airing in 2013 with a total of 25 episodes.Â
My Thoughts: The first season was a damn near masterpiece and itâs rise in popularity was no shock after watching it. Amazing opening theme, fitting art/ style and a pretty interesting story. This is the type of anime that iâd likely suggest to someone who isnât actually all that interested in anime.Â
Shingeki no Kyojin Season 2 (Attack on Titan Seaon 2):
Genres: Action, Military, Mystery, Super Power, Drama, Fantasy, Shounen
Synopsis:Â For centuries, humanity has been hunted by giant, mysterious predators known as the Titans. Three mighty wallsâWall Maria, Rose, and Sheenaâprovided peace and protection for humanity for over a hundred years. That peace, however, was shattered when the Colossus Titan and Armored Titan appeared and destroyed the outermost wall, Wall Maria. Forced to retreat behind Wall Rose, humanity waited with bated breath for the Titans to reappear and destroy their safe haven once more. In Shingeki no Kyojin Season 2, Eren Yeager and others of the 104th Training Corps have just begun to become full members of the Survey Corps. As they ready themselves to face the Titans once again, their preparations are interrupted by the invasion of Wall Roseâbut all is not as it seems as more mysteries are unraveled. As the Survey Corps races to save the wall, they uncover more about the invading Titans and the dark secrets of their own members. [Written by MAL Rewrite]
My Rating: 7.5/10
Finished airing in 2017 with a total of 12 episodes.Â
My Thoughts: I have a very love/ hate sort of relationship with every season of this anime after the first. I still find it to be an extremely interesting anime and story thatâs quite well done but certain negatives keep popping up as iâm watching, things I canât quite ignore. Still pretty good series overall though.Â
Shingeki no Kyojin Season 3 (Attack on Titan Season 3):
Genres: Action, Military, Mystery, Super Power, Drama, Fantasy, Shounen
Synopsis:Â Still threatened by the "Titans" that rob them of their freedom, mankind remains caged inside the two remaining walls. Efforts to eradicate these monsters continue; however, threats arise not only from the Titans beyond the walls, but from the humans within them as well. After being rescued from the Colossal and Armored Titans, Eren Yaeger devotes himself to improving his Titan form. Krista Lenz struggles to accept the loss of her friend, Captain Levi chooses Eren and his friends to form his new personal squad, and Commander Erwin Smith recovers from his injuries. All seems well for the soldiers, until the government suddenly demands custody of Eren and Krista. The Survey Corps' recent successes have drawn attention, and a familiar face from Levi's past is sent to collect the wanted soldiers. Sought after by the government, Levi and his new squad must evade their adversaries in hopes of keeping Eren and Krista safe. In Shingeki no Kyojin Season 3, Eren and his fellow soldiers are not only fighting for their survival against the terrifying Titans, but also against the terror of a far more conniving foe: humans. [Written by MAL Rewrite]
My Rating: 8/10
Finished airing in 2018 with a total of 12 episodes.Â
My Thoughts: I just donât really care for the characters... I mean I donât hate them but that connection just isnât there. Which may be a large part in why I donât LOVE this series. Still, this season was a bit better than the previous one.Â
Shingeki no Kyojin Season 3 Part 2 (Attack on Titan Season 3 Part 2):
Genres: Military, shounen, action, Mystery, Super Power, Drama, Fantasy
Synopsis: Seeking to restore humanityâs diminishing hope, the Survey Corps embark on a mission to retake Wall Maria, where the battle against the merciless "Titans" takes the stage once again.
Returning to the tattered Shiganshina District that was once his home, Eren Yeager and the Corps find the town oddly unoccupied by Titans. Even after the outer gate is plugged, they strangely encounter no opposition. The mission progresses smoothly until Armin Arlert, highly suspicious of the enemy's absence, discovers distressing signs of a potential scheme against them.
Shingeki no Kyojin Season 3 Part 2 follows Eren as he vows to take back everything that was once his. Alongside him, the Survey Corps striveâthrough countless sacrificesâto carve a path towards victory and uncover the secrets locked away in the Yeager family's basement.
[Written by MAL Rewrite]
My Rating: 9/10
Finished airing in 2019 with a total of 10 episodes.Â
My Thoughts: Thatâs the stuff. Thatâs the stuff I loved about the very first season of the anime. A vast improvment from the previous two seasons in my opinion!Â
Shingeki no Kyojin: Kuinaki Sentaku (Attack on Titan: No Regrets):
Genres: OVA, Action, Fantasy
Synopsis:Â Many years before becoming the famed captain of the Survey Corps, a young Levi struggles to survive in the capital's garbage dump, the Underground. As the boss of his own criminal operation, Levi attempts to get by with meager earnings while aided by fellow criminals, Isabel Magnolia and Farlan Church. With little hope for the future, Levi accepts a deal from the anti-expedition faction leader Nicholas Lobov, who promises the trio citizenship aboveground if they are able to successfully assassinate Erwin Smith, a squad leader of the Survey Corps. As Levi and Erwin cross paths, Erwin acknowledges Levi's agility and skill and gives him the option to either become part of the expedition team, or be turned over to the Military Police, to atone for his crimes. Now closer to the man they are tasked to kill, the group plans to complete their mission and save themselves from a grim demise in the dim recesses of their past home. However, they are about to learn that the surface world is not as liberating as they had thought and that sometimes, freedom can come at a heavy price. Based on the popular spin-off manga of the same name, Shingeki no Kyojin: Kuinaki Sentaku illustrates the encounter between two of Shingeki no Kyojin's pivotal characters, as well as the events of the 23rd expedition beyond the walls. [Written by MAL Rewrite]
My Rating: 7/10
Finished airing in 2015 with a total of 2 episodes.Â
My Thoughts: I love Levi, heâs probably the only character I really care all that much about in this series but I just didnât love this OVA!Â

Fake Love | Jung Hoseok (M)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/5e096f7464891c16203fb7b1a924fa66/tumblr_inline_pktvpuTqSb1qzwt2m_540.jpg)
PAIRING:Â Jung Hoseok x F!Reader, mentions of Namjin
GENRE: Fake dating AU, enemies to lovers, fluff, smut, minor angst
WARNINGS:Â Explicit sexual content, dirty talk, slight dom!Hoseok
WORD COUNT: 16.2k
DESCRIPTION: Every year, your family spends the holidays at your parentsâ cottage in the country. Freshly single and not wanting to be picked apart by your family for being alone, you decide to recruit one of your friends to pretend to be your boyfriend. The only available volunteer? Your brother Namjoonâs roommate, Hoseok. Only problem? He absolutely hates your guts.
I should get up, you think to yourself. Daylight is precious in the dead of winter, and youâve probably already wasted at least half of it wallowing in self-pity. Youâre lying in bed, duvet pulled high over your head, wondering exactly how and when your life took such a left turn.
Breakups have never been easy for you. Youâd always had trouble when it came to datingâyouâd always described yourself as the girl that no one would fall in love with, but who had a lot of friends. You were social, flitting around with ease between one group of friends to another, but you had always wondered if your absence would be noted if you were to just stop showing up to parties or work functions.
But then you met Jackson.
The office you worked in had a Christmas party three years ago, back when youâd just been an intern and were keep on rising through the ranks to a full-time position. You were well liked, always offering a helping hand to anyone who asked and generally did your best not to make waves. You didnât know what to expect when you showed up at the bar, which had been totally rented out for you and your colleagues. You also didnât really know anyone at the partyâthe one other intern that youâd befriended having gone home for the holidaysâso youâd just lingered by the bar on your own, silently surveying the crowd.
Jackson had come to join you, muttering something about how he hated office Christmas parties. You werenât sure if heâd been speaking to you, or just muttering to himself, but the smooth, dulcet tones of his voice had you turning to look at him.
He was handsome. More than handsomeâhe looked like he just strolled out of a menâs fashion magazine, wearing a black turtleneck, a dark grey blazer, and a pair of ironed dress pants. He held a glass that held two thimblefuls of amber liquid that he casually sipped as he leaned against the dark oak of the bar. He tilted his chiseled jaw in your direction with an eyebrow raised, and you hoped he hadnât caught you openly staring.
âI donât know if Iâve seen you around the office before,â he noted with a curious glint to his eyes.
âIâm just an intern,â you admitted, breaking eye contact to fiddle with the sleeve of your dark green crushed velvet dress.
âNot just an intern,â the man corrected, leaning his elbow against the bar so that he could turn to fully face you. You offered up the same courtesy, though, you felt heat rushing to your cheeks as you realized just how close heâd been standing. He held out his hand, a warm smile on his face. âIâm Jackson, by the way.â
âY/N,â you replied, feeling the warmth of his palm pressing against yours. âNice to meet you.â
And thatâs how your relationship with him began. It was a whirlwind, the two of you falling in love hard and fast. Within the first three months, youâd moved into his penthouse apartment, and youâd both met each otherâs parents. Jackson had been a blessing in your life, teaching you what it meant to be in love and how to love another person. Your happiest memories were of his smiling face, of him telling you for the first time that he loved you, and the nights that you two explored one anotherâs bodies until the sun came up.
There was so much good in your relationship that it felt easy to slip into a false sense of security. Youâd been hired on as a full-time employee at the company, taking on additional responsibilities and getting your own cubicle on a different floor. Jackson had been working hard as well, his eye on a big promotion that would have bumped him up to a six-figure salary if he landed it.
Of course, he did. And it was when he did that things started to fall apart.
He was never home. He always promised that he would make it in time for dinner, than he would spend the weekend with you and work wouldnât be involved. He made reservations at restaurants, and wouldnât show up. Heâd take you to the movies, but have to leave halfway through to make an important phone call. On your third anniversary, as he was balls deep inside of you in an expensive hotel room, his cell phone rang and he actually had the audacity to stop and answer.
The breakup had been mutual, though it had been you who initiated the conversation. You loved Jackson, and part of you still does. But he was married to his job, loved it more than anything. It was his priority, not you. And to his credit, heâd admitted his faults and that heâd been a neglectful partner. You knew that you hadnât been the best girlfriend either, not wanting to try to communicate with him because you were scared he would just leave you for someone better.
Itâs been about two months since the two of you ended your relationship. You hear heâs dating someone else. Someone as handsome as him never stays single for long.
With his promotion, Jackson had also become your boss. And after your mutual split, working under him proved to be too difficult. So after a week of severe anxiety about even setting foot into the building and living in a hotel, you quit your job and had to find a new apartment.
The only saving grace had been that your older brother, Namjoon, knew that there was an empty apartment in his building, on his floor. Youâd moved in without much thought, glad to have family nearby. Namjoon was only a year older than you, so the two of you were extremely close. You were the first person heâd told when he started dating his boyfriend, knowing that all you cared about was his happiness. Namjoon had started seeing Seokjin about a year ago, and the two are still going strong.
As for the job part, youâre still figuring that one out. Thankfully you have enough savings to last you for a while, but finding employment was definitely something at the top of your list. Right underneath âGet out of bedâ.
Having your brother as your down-the-hall neighbour has its pros and cons. One pro is that you sometimes buy groceries for him and vice versa, the two of you always looking out for one another and making sure your pantries are always full.
One con is that Namjoon has a key to your place. And he likes to use it.
âSis, where are you?â Namjoon calls from your front hallway. âI thought you were coming over for lunch today. Jinâs already here.â
You tug the blanket higher over your head, releasing a whine. You hear Namjoonâs socked feet padding towards you, and the sigh of disapproval at your current state.
âYou have to get out of bed sometime, you know?â He says, and you can hear his frown before you see it. âItâs been two months, Y/N. You canât just stay in bed all day. Youâve barely unpacked your apartment.â
You grumble, though you know heâs right. You donât have that many belongings, nor is the apartment even that big. But you still have boxes in stacks in the corner of your living room, the bare minimum having been unpacked before you began to sink into the pool of self-pity that you find yourself in now.
You feel a light tug at the duvet before itâs yanked halfway down our body, exposing you to what remains of the afternoon sun. Youâre in your typical pyjamas, an oversized shirt and shorts, and with how quickly Namjoon had ripped the sheets off, you begin to shiver and pout.
âFuck you, fine, give me fifteen minutes to shower and freshen up,â you groan, blindly grabbing your pillow and swinging it in Namjoonâs direction.
Your brother dodges the blow and hops backwards, opening all your curtains and flicking on every light switch he can find. You havenât moved yet, but you shout an affirmative when you hear him asking if youâre awake yet by the front door. He leaves you to your own devices, and not wanting to keep him and Seokjin waiting, you stumble out of bed and towards your bathroom.
The shower does you good and you examine your reflection in the mirror. The dark circles under your eyes havenât gone away, no matter how many daytime naps youâve taken over the past few weeks. You swipe some concealer under your eyes so you donât look like a total corpse, slip on some leggings and a sweater, and tie up your wet hair in a bun.
With whatever remaining energy you have, you trudge down the hall to Namjoonâs apartment, rapping lightly on the door. You hear shuffling inside, and the unmistakable sound of Seokjinâs windshield wiper laughter. The door finally swings open, revealing the last person in the world you ever want to see.
âWow, Y/N, you look like shit,â Hoseok says with a smirk, as if his insult is in any way charming. You shoulder your way past him into the apartment.
Jung Hoseok has been the bane of your existence since your junior year of high school. He was a transfer student, same age as your brother. Namjoon had been the one to take Hoseok under his wing when heâd first arrived, and the two of them quickly became best friends. But for some reason, he absolutely hated you. Whenever you were around, he would only ever tease you and try to get a reaction out of you, and you could never figure out what you had done to make him treat you this way. Itâs infuriating, to say the least.
âWhat are you doing here? I thought you were going home for the holidays,â you grunt, not expecting your brotherâs best friend and roommate to still be home so close to Christmas. Usually, Hoseok spends the holidays with his parents and his sister, and you donât have to deal with him being a total pain in the ass whenever you come to visit Namjoon.
âMy parents decided to go to Europe on vacation, and my sister is with her boyfriendâs family for Christmas,â Hoseok shrugs. âSo Iâm stuck here. Arenât you lucky?â
You roll your eyes, heading towards the kitchen where you hear Seokjin trying to keep Namjoon away. âLucky as a heart attack.â
âY/N!â Seokjin cries when he sees you, his arms opening so you can shuffle into his grasp for a hug. âThere you are. Namjoon and I were taking bets on how much longer it would take for you to get here. I beat him by one minute, so now he owes me a shoulder massage.â
âYou cheated!â Namjoon pouts as he sets the table. You notice that he places down four sets of cutlery, and you inwardly groan knowing Hoseok will be joining you. âYou just guessed one minute sooner than what I guessed, then she happened to walk through the door.â
Seokjin tuts. âStrategy, love.â Though he saunters over to where Namjoon stands, pressing a sweet kiss to his forehead before hip-checking him back into action.
âOh, that reminds me,â Namjoon pipes up as everyone takes their seats. Hoseok decides to sit across from you, in a move that you can only assume is to aggravate you further. âDonât forget that weâre all driving down to Mom and Dadâs cottage on Friday for Christmas.â
You give a solemn nod, and pick at the green beans on your plate. Every year, you and Namjoon join your parents for a weekend at your familyâs cottage for the holidays. Itâs a long-held tradition, one that you were more than happy to share with Jackson when the two of you had been dating. Heâd always been the perfect buffer between you and your parentsânot that you donât love them, but they have a tendency to be a bit overbearing. Theyâd toned it down when you and Jackson had gotten together, and now that youâre single, youâre dreading the flood of questions and pitying looks from your mother in particular.
âWhy the long face?â Hoseok questions, spearing a piece of chicken with his fork. âI thought you loved going to the cottage for the holidays.â
âSheâs glum because her and Jackson broke up, so she has to carpool with us,â Seokjin supplies unhelpfully. You kick his shin under the table, earning a loud, indignant yelp.
Hoseokâs eyes widen. âYou and Jackson broke up?â
âDonât act as if Namjoon didnât already tell you,â you scoff. âI didnât move down the hall just for the fun of it.â
He shrugs, speaking between mouthfuls of food. âI thought maybe you two were downsizing. No need to get snippy with me, I donât know or care about every minute detail of your life.â
Youâre rolling your eyes before you even realize that itâs happening. âMaybe if you actually used your brain, or the power of observation, youâd realize that Jackson and I havenât been together in almost two months.â
âAgain,â Hoseok repeats, slower this time, as if youâre a child who canât understand his words. âI donât care about your life.â
âHey,â Namjoon warns. âThatâs my sister, bro.â
âOkay, let me rephrase,â Hoseok declares, tapping his long index finger against his chin. âHowâs this: I donât care, period.â
âSeokjin, babe,â Namjoon asks softly, back straight, cutting into his chicken with far too much calmness. âWhere do I keep my rubber flip flops?â
âIn the front hall closet,â Seokjin replies around a mouthful of food. âWhy?â
Namjoon immediately focuses on Hoseok, eyes narrowing significantly. âMy roommate is about to have an accident.â
You clear your throat loudly, muttering to yourself about how annoying it is that men canât just figure their shit out with words. âIâm not upset that I have to carpool with Joonie and Seokjin, if you must know. Itâs justâŚâ Your voice gets quiet, and you canât believe youâre voicing these fears out loud, but itâs too late to stop it now. âItâs my first Christmas in years without Jackson, you know? Even though we broke up, I really miss him. And I havenât told my parents about it either, so now I not only have to break it to them, but also have to field all their questions about my love life, and my mother will inevitably try to set me up with one of her friendâs sons.â
Namjoon canât help but snort. âYeah. Remember that time she made you go on a date with her coworkerâs nephew?â
âOf course I remember,â you grumble. âHe took me to dinner and then tried to get me to invest in his pyramid scheme.â
Hoseok cackles, shaking his head.
You prop your elbow up on the table and place your chin in your palm, blowing few loose strands of hair from your face. âMaybe I could bribe a friend to come to the cottage and just pretend to be my boyfriend for the weekend. Mom and Dad will be shocked that Jackson isnât there, but at least they wonât try to set me up with anyone and I can go back to wallowing in self-pity once the holidays are over.â
Namjoon considers it, his head titling from side to side. âNot the worst idea in the world, if youâre really that stressed about going alone.â
You give a nod. âYou think Jungkook would want to come? Heâs a little young, but at least heâs easy on the eyes.â
Seokjin shakes his head. âJungkook and his brother are with their parents on a cruise or something. Theyâre not due back til after this cottage debacle is done.â
You frown. âWhat about Taehyung? Or Yoongi?â
âTaehyungâs got plans, and Yoongi went back home for a few days,â Namjoon responds apologetically. âI could maybe ask Jimin if heâs free.â
You shake your head. âI spoke to Jimin the other day, heâs going back home for the holidays to be with his family, too.â
Hoseok raises an eyebrow, looking around at everyone at the table. Youâre purposely not making eye contact, but when he speaks, he voices the one thing you desperately do not want.
âIâll go.â
You regard him wearily, your heart hammering in your chest. No. He did not just offer to come. âWhat? Why?â
Hoseok shrugs, listing off the reasons on his fingers. âMy familyâs not around this year, and your parents already know me. Iâve got nothing better to do, and if Iâm being honest, Iâm curious as to how this train wreck of a weekend is going to go.â
You frown, wanting nothing more than to faceplate into the spring mix on your plate. âI have no other option, do I?â
Hoseok smirks. âGet ready, babe. Youâre in for a hell of a weekend.â
Itâs just for a few days, you can survive a few days. Besides, if this is going to happen, you are absolutely writing down a list of rules for Hoseok to follow. Groaning, you decide to just accept your fate after weighing the pros and cons. When you finally agree, Hoseok blows you an exaggerated kiss, causing you to gag.
From his seat across the table, Namjoon watches the two of you with cautious eyes. He glances over at Seokjin, who just subtly shrugs his shoulders.
A hell of a weekend, indeed.
â
You end up driving down with Namjoon and Seokjin to the cottage, Hoseok having to work last minute. He had promised he would still be in time for dinner, he just needed to wrap up some stuff at his dance studio before the weekend began.
Youâre about ten minutes away, the three of you driving in comfortable silence, when Namjoon turns in the passenger seat to look at you. âAre you sure this is a good idea, Y/N?â
You shrug, tucking your phone into your coat pocket. Nothing interesting is happening on social media away. âWhat other option do I have?â
Namjoon mimics you, his shoulders lifting nonchalantly. âJust seems like a lot of trouble just to get Mom and Dad to get off your back about being a single Pringle.â
âFirst off, you and Jin have been spending way too much time together,â you state with a frown. âSecond, you have no idea what itâs like dealing with Mom and Dad when it comes to this stuff. They honestly worshipped the ground Jackson walked on. At least with Hoseok there, I have some sort of buffer.â
Seokjin eyes you from the rearview mirror. âStill surprises me that Hoseok was down to do it in the first place, to be honest. Are you paying him or something?â
âI offered,â you say, leaning back in your seat and watching the snow-covered trees pass by. âHe said he didnât want my money.â
Namjoon glances at Seokjin with a weary expression, but you donât see it as you lean your head against the window.
You arrive at the cottage, which is really more like a second house. Your parents had always wanted a vacation property, working hard and making sacrifices to turn their dream into a reality. And the house was beautifulâyou and Namjoon had spent many summers there as children, running through the woods behind the house until you reached the lake, splashing about without a care in the world. You spend every Christmas there as well, a long-held tradition that carries on to this day.
The cottage itself is a two-storey home with tan bricks and a wrap-around porch. White Christmas lights line the edges of the dark-shingled roof, wrapping around the porch banister and creating a pathway to the front door. There had been a decent amount of snowfall earlier that day, so some of the lights are diffused under the powdery blanket that covers the house.
Seokjin parks the car and you all file out, collecting your bags. Youâre just about to ring the doorbell when the door flies open, revealing your mother, washed in the golden light emanating from inside. Sheâs wearing one of those god-awful patterned Christmas sweaters that Seokjin got her last year (heâs sporting a matching one, to your chagrin), with a Santa Claus hat perched atop her head.
âMy babies!â She coos, dragging all three of you inside. The house smells like home, a combination of spiced scented candles and home cooking, and stepping across the threshold feels like a warm hug. Or perhaps itâs your motherâs arms locking around you, cutting off your circulation. Itâs hard to tell.
âHi Mom,â you smile, looking around. âWhereâs Dad?â
She waves a hand flippantly. âYour father got a new barbecue for himself as a Christmas gift. Heâs out in the backyard, bundled like a fool, cooking up more meat than we could possibly eat.â
As you, Namjoon and Seokjin file inside, you notice as your mother does a mental head count, and see the look of realization dawn on her face as she catches that there is one less ball of testosterone than she is expecting.
âWhereâs Jackson?â
âOh,â you begin sheepishly. âWe, uhâŚyou see, heâsâŚâ
âThey broke up,â Namjoon offers, taking everyoneâs coats and dutifully placing them on hangers in the hall closet. âA few months ago.â
Your motherâs eyes widen and that look of pity that you hate filters into her irises. âOh, honey, Iâm so sorry,â she sighs, tugging you close as you allow your body to go limp in her hold. Tears start to well in your eyes, which you donât expect. But itâs also the first time youâre telling her about your break-up, and sometimes you just need to be held by your mom. âYou know, if youâre looking, I have a coworker who has this sonââ
Ah, there it is. You peel yourself away, going so far as to take a step back. âActually, Mom, Iââ
Youâre cut off by the sound of the doorbell, and your mother cocks an eyebrow. She peers out of the window, and suddenly looks taken aback. She swings the door open to reveal a rosy-cheeked Hoseok, overnight bag slung over his shoulder, holding a bouquet of red roses and what looks like a pie.
âHoseok!â Your mom says his name with a slight inflection at the end, both a statement and a question.
âHi, Mrs. Kim,â he beams at her, and she allows him inside. âSorry Iâm late. I hope I didnât interrupt if you guys already started dinner.â
âOh, no, the kids just got in,â she waves off. âButâŚand pardon my rudeness, but what are you doing here?â
âMom,â you interject, taking a step towards Hoseok. âThatâs what I was going to tell you just now. Hoseok isâŚuh, heâsâŚâ
Oh god, Iâm so awkward, you chastise inwardly. Why canât I just say it?
âWeâre dating,â Hoseok offers. âY/N didnât tell you because she wanted it to be a surprise.â
Your mother tilts her head before she nods, a smile breaking across her face. âThatâs so great! I always thought that you two disliked each other, but I suppose love always finds a way.â
âUh, yeah,â you say unconvincingly. Itâs then that you take notice of the giant bouquet of roses heâs carrying, and you point at it dumbly. âWhat are those for?â
Hoseok smirks, breaking character for a split second before his face transforms once again into that of an angel. âFor you, Mrs. Kim,â he responds, giving a slight bow and offering the flowers to your mother. She gushes, because of course she does. Sheâs always considered Hoseok to be one of her favourites amongst Namjoonâs friends, and she loves roses.
âHow sweet! Thank you so much!â
Hoseokâs smile grows wider at her acceptance of the gift. He then, however, plucks one rose from the bunch. âYouâre welcome. Except for this one,â he says before he turns in your direction. âThis one is for you.â
When you take it from his grasp, he leans down and presses a gentle kiss to the apple of your cheek. It takes all your willpower to not jump back, but to keep your feet planted where they are. Youâre meant to be posing as a couple, of course heâs supposed to kiss you. So how come your heart wonât stop racing in your chest?
You decide to ignore it and just accept the rose with a bashful smile, one that has your mother in an absolute joyous fit.
âYouâre too kind, Hoseok. Here, let me take that into the kitchen, and Y/N will help you with your coat. We still have some preparations to do with dinner, and Seokjinâs already offered to assist. Y/N, why donât you bring yours and Hoseokâs bags up to your room and give him a tour? Itâs been ages since he was last here.â
You mutely agree before taking Hoseokâs coat to put in the hall closet. As he sheds his layers, you canât help but notice how nice he looks when he cleans up. His hair is styled so that itâs parted close to the middle in loose waves away from his face, and heâs sporting a thin, dark green knit sweater over a pinstriped dress shirt. It looks like he even ironed his dress pants.
âOkay, babe,â Hoseok grabs your bag as well, emphasizing the pet name. You want to gag. âLetâs go to our room.â
That was one thing that youâd somehow forgotten in this whole mess. You and Jackson had always shared your bed, which obviously was never an issue. But sharing a bed with Hoseok meansâŚwell, sharing a bed with Hoseok. And youâre pretty certain you would rather cut off both legs and serve them with Christmas dinner than have to share a bed with him.
You curse yourself for not fully thinking every detail of this arrangement through, but begrudgingly lead him upstairs nevertheless. Itâs too late now. Your room at the cottage is at the end of the hall, beside Namjoonâs. Youâd decorated the room as a teenager, and your parents left it largely untouched, never bothering to change it. The same went for Namjoonâs as well, except they knew not to touch anything because your brother wasâand still isâso particular.
The room itself is pretty simple. Itâs painted an off-white with a combination of framed art and little polaroids and other photos pinned to the walls. String lights frame the window, and thereâs a dresser, and a vanity with more pictures of you and your friends throughout the years taped to the sides. Itâs cozy and warm, and being here reminds you of all the happy memories of your childhood. Hoseok looks around the room with an expression that you canât quite place before dumping his bag on the bed. He saunters over to your vanity to look at the pictures youâve kept up there all these years.
You watch him with both curiosity and apprehension as his eyes skim over the pictures of you and Namjoon as kids, you and your best friends in high school, and you almost miss the imperceptible clench of his jaw at a strip of photo booth pictures of you and Jackson. You see where his eyes are trained and immediately stride over, placing the rose heâd gifted you earlier on the tabletop, and pulling the photo down.
He watches as you regard it with a heavy heart, noticing how you breathe out heavily through your nostrils. You look as if you want to tear up the pictures and throw them in the trash, but instead you just open one of the empty drawers of the vanity and place it gingerly inside.
âNot over him yet?â Hoseok asks, his voice quieter than youâre expecting.
You look up at him, expecting to see either mirth or pity, but surprisingly, when you look into his eyes, you see gentle understanding.
âIâŚâ you begin, unable to maintain eye contact. You run your hand through your hair and fold your arms over your chest. âI miss him,â you admit. âBut our relationship was over way before we broke up.â
Hoseok gives a nod, but doesnât prompt you to explain any further. He just shoves his hands in his pockets and moves away from the photos, understanding that maybe heâd overstepped his bounds.
Itâs then that Namjoon pops his head in the doorway.
âHey, lovebirds,â he grins, obviously having a hard time maintaining the façade. You canât help but roll your eyes. âDinnerâs ready.â
âWeâll be down in a second,â Hoseok states, and Namjoon just shrugs before disappearing.
You turn and give Hoseok a wry smile. âGonna try to kiss me again or something?â
Your brain nearly short circuits the minute the words leave your mouth. Am IâŚflirting with Hoseok?
He snorts in reply, hands still in his pockets. âNo oneâs around, so nah, probably not. This weekend is just for show, remember? I know I clean up nice, but try not to fall in love with me, yeah?â
âAh, there he is,â you say with just the slightest hint of irritation. âFor a second, I thought aliens had kidnapped you and replaced you with someone who was actually tolerable.â
Hoseok holds his hands over his heart and makes a fake pained noise. âMy lady, you wound me! How doth I go on in a manner such as this?â
You blink at him. âDoth?â
He just shrugs. âDonât worry about it. Look, I just, uhâŚI wanted to let you know thatâŚâ
You wait for his response, unsure of what heâs about to say. Your eyes meet his, and you can see the conflict plain as day on his face. With a sigh, he shakes his head.
âNever mind. I just wanted to say that I hope this weekend goes well.â
You regard him curiously, but give a slight nod. âYeah. Me too.â
The two of you head downstairs to find everyone else in the dining room, Namjoon and Seokjin sitting and sipping wine while chatting animatedly with your father.
Your socked feet pad along towards the delicious smell of a home cooked meal, Hoseok following close behind. Youâre not used to being so physically close to him, and you can feel the warmth radiating off of his body. You try not to think about how you can smell his cologne, a delicious, perfect smell that has you biting the inside of your cheek.
You sneak a glance at him. Has his jawline always been so sharp? Admittedly, Hoseok has always been good-looking, but youâd never bothered to notice until now. You mentally slap yourself for thinking these thingsâthis is Hoseok. Asshole extraordinaire, your brotherâs best friend and roommate, and the bane of your existence since you were sixteen.
âHoseok! Y/N!â Your mother calls as she lowers the hot dishes down onto the placemats. You turn away from Hoseok momentarily to eye her, a frown forming at the obvious giddiness filtering into her voice. She nods skyward, causing the two of you to look up as well. And then she says the one word youâd been dreading since you set foot into the cottage: âMistletoe!â
Sheâs right. Pinned to the entryway into the dining room is a sprig of mistletoe, dangling over your heads. Sheâs evil, you concur. My mother is the devil.
Hoseok turns to you, and your eyes widen at his proximity. He smirks, that insolent, infuriating half-grin that both has your blood boiling and your heart racing. âWell, baby,â he purrs, wiggling his eyebrows. âShall we give them a show?â
Before you have the chance to vehemently protest, One of Hoseokâs hands is on your lower back, and the other is cupping the back of your neck. He dips you down, catching you off guard. Your arms instinctively loop around his neck so you donât fall, and in that split-second of shock, he kisses you.
Like, really kisses you.
This isnât the peck on the cheek that heâd given you when youâd first lied to your mother about the two of you dating. The way heâs kissing you now feels different, like itâs grounded in something you canât quite place. And, perhaps in a moment of temporary insanity, you kiss him back.
As soon as Hoseok feels your lips moving along with his, a deep groan rumbles in his chest. Your fingers curl into his hair as he presses you so close, and you swear you feel the wetness of his tongue gliding across the seam of your mouth.
Namjoon wolf-whistles and the two of you break apart before it can get too heated. A good thing, since you were starting to lose yourself in the feeling of Hoseokâs lips against yours, the gentle way in which his thumb rubs circles against your lower back. Hoseok lifts you back to standing and you immediately hide your face against his shoulder, your back to the rest of your family as he holds you close. Youâd never been overly affectionate with any of your exes in front of your parents, even Jackson. So having practically made out with someone who you consider your nemesis in front of them is mortifying.
You feel his lips against your crown, almost imperceptible. You peel yourself away from him to look into his eyes, his expression unreadable. You hear someone at the table clear their throat, and it breaks the spell, causing you to take a step back, trying to hide the deep blush on your face behind your hair.
âIf youâre done,â your father states in a teasing tone, âthe rest of us would like to start eating.â
You bite the inside of your cheek as you and Hoseok take your seats opposite Namjoon and Seokjin. Your parents are sitting on either end of the table, Hoseok closest to your mother and you closest to your father. The spread of food on the table looks delicious, and you all start to dig in. Seokjin wonât stop piling sweet potatoes and turkey slices onto his plate, and when Namjoon scolds him for it, he proceeds to lick every item just to lay his claim.
You wonder what itâs like for your brother and his boyfriend to share one brain cell.
âSo,â your father finally pipes up once everyoneâs plates are full and the sounds of forks and knives clinking has filled the room. He gestures to you and Hoseok, an eyebrow raised. âWhen did this happen?â
You turn to look at Hoseok, realizing in your stupidity that you hadnât come up with a backstory. Hoseok sees the apprehension in your eyes and decides to be the one to speak up.
âIt was a few weeks after her and Jackson had broken up and she moved into our building,â Hoseok comments, addressing both of your parents. âI hadnât seen Y/N in a while, since she was always working. But then one day she came over to visit Namjoon, andâŚâ He then turns to look at you, making sure your eyes donât stray from his. âI just thought she was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen, and that I was an idiot for not noticing sooner.â
Your jaw canât help but drop just slightly at the confession, but then you remember that this is all an act. This is just so your parents will leave you alone about what happened with Jackson, and Hoseok is just a better actor than youâd ever given him credit for. It sets a sharp bitterness in your mouth, forcing you to remember that you hate Hoseok, and that he hates you too.
For some reason, though itâs been fact for the majority of your adult life, the harsh reality has your heart clenching in your chest.
âHow romantic!â Your motherâs cooing interrupts your thoughts. Hoseok is smiling gently at you, and you canât help but blush and turn away to pick at your food as you gather your thoughts.
âYeah,â you agree, clearing your throat. âWe both thought that maybe it would be a little too soon after everything that happened, butâŚâ
âIt just feels right,â Hoseok finishes for you.
You canât help but wonder if an alien really did abduct the real Hoseok and left an imposter as a replacement, but you play along, nodding slightly.
âYeah. It does.â
â
Dinner passes with the expected amount of painful questioning, mostly from your mom. Your dad has always stated that he trusts your judgment when it comes to the guys you date, and since he already knows Hoseok, his questions are thankfully minimal. When youâd first brought Jackson home for dinner, you were worried that he and your father wouldnât get along. But as was in your then-boyfriendâs nature, he won them both over with his sharp wit and bold sense of humour.
You sink into your chair as the memories long since past swirl around in your mind and have you staring off into space. Hoseok seems to notice immediately and he nudges you under the table as Seokjin and your father engage in a dad-joke competition that has your mother and Namjoon each refilling their glasses of wine.
âYou okay?â
Your fingers drum along the stem of your own wine glass before pushing it away. âHad too much to drink maybe. I think I have a bit of a headache.â
Hoseok frowns, glancing at the others. âDo you want to get some fresh air?â
You offer up a small smile. âActually, yeah. Thatâs a great idea.â
Hoseok beams at you before pressing a kiss to your forehead, catching you off guard, and rising to his feet. âY/N and I are going to go for a quick walk. Too much wine, you know?â You hear him joke, though the ringing in your ears that began when his lips touched your skin hasnât stopped just yet. You take a second to gather yourself, ignoring Namjoonâs apprehensive eyes, and follow Hoseok to the front foyer to collect your coats.
Winter has never been one of your favourite seasonsâin fact, if you were forced to rank them, it would most likely place dead last, with summer being at the very top. But you have to admit, as you and Hoseok walk one of the trails that leads down to the lake, winter truly can be beautiful.
The sound of your snow boots crunching against the snowy ground fill your ears as you take in the sight of evergreens coated in snow, of other cottages in the distance glowing in the frigid night, and the decorative lights that break through the dark blue of the night sky. Itâs quiet, save for the satisfying noise of snow being displaced under the rubber soles of your boots. Beside you, Hoseok is silent, chin tilted upward as he quietly observes everything around him.
Hoseok has been to your cottage before, just once, in the summer when you were teenagers. It had been the year heâd first moved to the city, and Namjoon had wanted him to feel welcome. That was the summer heâd wound up on your shit list, pushing you off the dock and into the lake where your foot had caught on some seaweed and youâd nearly drowned. After youâd been rescued and it was confirmed that you were alright, heâd laughed in that loud, maniacal way that you would grow to detest, dramatically making fun of how youâd fallen when heâd shoved you. After that, you had urged your parents to ban him from ever visiting the cottage again, having humiliated and nearly killed you that summer.
The path to the lake winds through the woods, though itâs a path that has been trodden by so many that you could walk it with your eyes closed. Neither you or Hoseok say anythingâthereâs no need to, you find, as the silence doesnât feel as awkward as youâd expect. If anything, it feels comfortable and familiar. You chalk it up to just having known Hoseok for a long time, that his presence at your side isnât as unfamiliar as that of a total stranger.
Eventually, the trees part and the sound of the lake lapping against the shore fills your ears. Youâd always loved your cottage for this reasonâbeing by the lake, hearing the steady rhythm of the water, always fills your mind with calm. There are a few fallen logs that serve as seating, and you dust off the snow to make room for you and Hoseok to sit down.
Your hands are shoved into the pockets of your coat and you sigh, glancing out at the horizon. Itâs dark, but you can see dots of warm light on the other side of the water, and you smile to yourself at the thought of other families getting together and enjoying the holidays.
You wonder if Jackson is with his new girlfriend.
Prying your eyes away from the waves, you stare down at your boots, suddenly hyper focused on pushing a small pile of snow from the outside of your foot to the inside, and back again. Hoseok notices, his voice soft when he speaks.
âYou know, itâs okay to miss him.â
Your head snaps in his direction as you peer up into the warm chocolate of his eyes. âWhat?â
âItâs okay to miss him,â Hoseok repeats with a shrug. âI can tell that youâre not totally over your breakup.â
You frown, turning back to fixate on the snow. âIs it that obvious?â
Hoseok snorts. âI donât know if you noticed, but Iâm doing the majority of the heavy lifting with your parents, right now. If Namjoon âsecretlyâ rolls his eyes one more time, I think they might actually fall out of his face.â
You nod absentmindedly, remembering once again that none of this is real. Hoseok isnât your boyfriend, and neither is Jackson. Youâre alone, single and horribly lonely, and the weight of that reality starts to really sink in.
You donât want to cry, but you feel tears escaping as you take in a shaky breath. âItâs just hard to get out of bed sometimes, you know?â You admit feebly, ashamed of how small your voice sounds. âI just canât help but think that if maybe I had done more, or been more, then maybe we might still be together. I wishâŚI just wish I was enough for him. He was always enough for me.â
Hoseok seems to hesitate, but then he apprehensively lifts his arm and places it around your shoulders. Itâs a little awkward as his hand gives you a good natured pat, not trying to pull you into his body heat, just sitting beside you and trying to offer you comfort. You canât help but notice the distinct difference between this Hoseok and the one that was trying to charm your family. In there, he was cool, funny, and warm. Out here, heâs awkward, contemplative, and nervous.
You canât help but think that you kind of prefer this version of Hoseok.
âYou know,â he begins, his voice cutting through the chill in the air. âYou canât live your life thinking about shit like that. Youâre always going to look back at moments in your past and think that if you had done something differently, that the outcome would be more favourable. But honestly, dwelling on it is only going to make it worse, since you canât change it now. Whatâs done is done. You gotta move on.â
Deep down, you know Hoseok is right. But still, as your breath hitches in your throat, it doesnât stop you from asking, âDo you think itâll ever stop hurting this much?â
Itâs then that Hoseok scoots a little closer, pulling you into the warmth of his embrace. You let yourself melt against him, your head resting upon his shoulder, as he rubs your arm and places his cheek against your crown. You close your eyes, the scent of sandalwood and spice filling your nostrils. And for the first time in what feels like ages, you donât see Jacksonâs face when youâre met with the darkness behind your eyelids.
No.
This time, you picture Hoseok.
And when he speaks, you nearly forget about Jackson altogether.
âYeah, sweetheart. I know it will.â
You arrive back at the cottage, not feeling nearly as horrible as you had when youâd left. You apologize to your parents about not sticking around to help clean up or clear the table, but your mother just winks and says itâs alright, that itâs only natural to want some alone time with your new boyfriend.
You hate that youâre lying to her, but you also canât stop the way your breath catches in your throat at the insinuation.
Alone time with your new boyfriend.
You pretend that those words arenât circling in your brain as you sink into the covers, squishing yourself on one side of the double bed. Hoseok is on the other side, doing something that you can only describe as touching himself.
Not in a sexual way. But heâs lying down, arms shot straight up in the air as he runs his fingertips along his inner forearms, alternating every few seconds. His eyes are closed, and he looks absolutely insane.
âWhat are you doing?â You have to ask, turning your head on your pillow to face him. Heâs moved on now to gently caressing his own chest, looking just as  odd as before.
âMy mom used to do this to me when I was a kid,â he explains, his eyes still shut. âIt helps me fall asleep.â
You blink owlishly at him, unable to help the small giggle that escapes your lips. He cracks an eye open, glaring at you.
âWhat?â
âNothing,â you respond, fully turning your body to face him now. âYou just look crazy, is all.â
Hoseok drops his arms against the sheets in a minor huff. âWell, princess, sorry if it bothers you. You gonna volunteer to do it for me, then? Because if not, itâs going to be a long night.â
You gape at him for just a moment, though it morphs into an amused smile. âYou really canât get to sleep without someone touching you?â
Hoseok grumbles, annoyed that you know at least one of his secrets. âUnfortunately not.â
In a moment of boldness, you scoot towards him and gesture for him to face you. He does so with an unsure look, and you canât help but notice his eyes widen as you start to run your fingers through his hair.
You donât know what possesses you to do so, but all you know is that the strands are silky between your fingers, and your ministrations has Hoseokâs eyes starting to flutter shut. As your nails gently scrape along his scalp, he lets out a low moan, one that has him immediately darting awake and pulling away from you.
âIâm good,â he stutters out, creating distance between your bodies. âTh-thanks for that. But Iâm okay.â
âOh,â you respond, surprised and just slightly disappointed. âWellâŚgoodnight, then.â
âGoodnight,â he replies gruffly, turning his back to you and tugging the duvet up to his chin. You sigh and do the same, attempting to get comfortable. You wind up staring at the wall as the minutes tick by on the clock, sleep deciding to evade you on this night.
From the other side of the bed, Hoseok also remains wide awake, his hands twitching as if he wants nothing more than to reach out and touch you.
But he doesnât, because youâre his brotherâs best friend, and you hate him. Youâve made that clear. So instead, he forces his eyes shut, and counts sheep until slumber decides to consume him in all-encompassing darkness.
â
The rest of the weekend passes by in a blur. Thereâs a new, underlying tension between you and Hoseok that youâre trying your best to ignore, although you know that at least Namjoon can sense that something is off.
You donât tell anyone that when youâd awoken on Christmas morning, that Hoseok had been clinging to you like a koala, arms looped around your middle and a leg slung over yours. Youâd carefully extradited yourself from his grasp without waking him, heading downstairs to help your father prepare breakfast for everyone.
But over the course of the entire weekend, Hoseok had been nothing but a total gentleman, always offering to help out with the dishes and setting the table, indulging your dad in talks of sports he knew nothing about, and even going so far as to help your mother with cooking. It made you look at him differently. He was so domestic, and you couldnât deny the butterflies in the base of your stomach whenever he smiled in your direction. It had been confusing, to say the least.
Itâs with the utmost relief that you find yourself backing your bags alone in your room, happy that you can finally return to your apartment to wallow in self pity all by your lonesome. You hear a rap against the doorframe, and as you turn, Hoseok steps into view. Heâs dressed casually, wearing an oversized sweater and a pair of loose track pants, but you still canât help but think that he looks effortlessly handsome.
Youâre not sure when your brain started to produce these thoughts, but you try your hardest to ignore them.
âHey,â he greets, almost sheepish. âYou packing?â
It takes you a second to find your voice. âYeah,â you nod, going back to sorting your belongings in the confines of your duffel bag. âYou have all your stuff?â
âYeah,â he confirms, pushing off from the door frame to make his way over to you. You feel his presence before you see how close he is, and his proximity has you standing up to your full height as you face him.
âDid you need something?â You ask, barely above a whisper.
Hoseok smiles with a shake of his head. Has he always looked this radiant?
âNo, nothing like that,â he states, scratching at the back of his head. âI just, uhâŚwanted to say that surprisingly, I had fun this weekend.â
You canât help but grin. âYeah, me too. Definitely got my parents off my back, so I definitely owe you my thanks in that department.â
âOh?â Hoseok raises an eyebrow. âDo I get to choose my token of gratitude?â
You tilt your head in confusion. âI mean, sure, I guess? Do you want money or something? Because that might have to wait until Iâm employed againââ
âNo,â Hoseok interrupts. âNothing like that.â
You feel your palms starting to sweat. âThen what?â
You see his Adamâs apple bob in his throat as he swallows hard. His voice sounds almost husky as he breathes out, âKiss me.â
You almost take a step back, but force yourself to remain rooted in place, though shock is evident on your features. âW-what?â
âKiss me,â he repeats, and you feel the warmth of his palm against your hip. âWithout anyone watching, without the whole fake-boyfriend pretence.â He looks into your eyes, hopeful and oddly sincere. âPlease?â
Your throat feels dry, and you swear the room is starting to spin. But your mouth speaks before your mind can catch up, asking, âJust once?â
The look in his eyes becomes unreadable, almost distant, before he answers, his breath fanning across your face. Heâs so close. âYeah. Just once.â
Your body feels like itâs running on autopilot as you lift your arms to loop around Hoseokâs neck. His grip on your waist tightens as he draws you in, closer and closer. You rise to the tips of your toes and feel his nose grazing against yours. You feel his lips barely grazing against yours, almost touching but not quite. You feel dizzy with want, this inexplicable spark of desire growing within you and warming your body from the inside out. For the very first time, you realize that you want him, that you want Jung Hoseok, and it terrifies you.
Youâre just about to finally close the distance when you hear your mother from the doorway.
âY/N, Hobi, I just wanted toâoh! Oh, Iâm so sorry, I didnât mean to interrupt!â
You practically jump back from Hoseok, the moment shattered as you retract your arms from his body and curl in on yourself, squeezing your eyes shut for a second. You hear Hoseok sigh before he reluctantly moves his hands from your waist.
âThatâs okay, Mrs. Kim,â he says in a strained voice. âI should probably finish packing up my car anyway.â He leans down and presses a kiss to your cheek, oddly close to the corner of your mouth. The next question he whispers into your ear, so quiet you almost donât hear him. âSee you back at the apartment?â
Oh. Part of you had hoped that Hoseok would offer to drive you back, but you suppose it makes more sense for Namjoon and Seokjin to take you. You and Hoseok need some distance, a little space to figure out the whirlwind of confusing emotions that have threatened to consume you whole. You just nod dumbly, still not looking at him. If you look at him, you might say or do something youâll just regret later, with your mother as a witness by the door.
He lingers a moment longer before finally leaving the room. Your mother smiles at him as he goes, and he offers her a small upward quirk of his lips in return. Once the two of you are alone, and youâve shoved the rest of your things into your duffel, your mom walks over to you and sits on the bed. She pats the spot next to her, and you take a seat, hands folded in your lap.
âHow are you doing, sweetie?â
Youâre confused by the question. âUhâŚfine?â
âNo,â she shakes her head, reaching up to play with a strand of your hair. âThatâs not what Iâm asking.â
Youâd known that from the beginning. Your mother had always been your biggest confidant, and she hadnât had a chance to really talk to you by yourself since getting to the cottage. Youâd been expecting this conversation, dreading it even. She continues.
âWhy didnât you tell me sooner that you and Jackson had broken up?â She asks gently. Youâd known that your mother had loved the boy, taken him in as a second son. She had joked in the past that the two of you should get married, and that had been the direction you thought your life was going in. But life has other plans. It always does.
You take a moment to gather your thoughts before replying. âI was embarrassed,â you admit truthfully. âIâŚI donât know, Mom. I guess I always thought that Jackson was going to be it for me. I told so many people how much I loved him, and everyone would always tell me in return that we were the perfect couple. What kind of perfect couple breaks up because heâs married to his job?â
You take in a shaky breath and let it out slowly.
âIâm sorry for not telling you sooner. I just needed time to figure out my new normal again.â
She nods, staring off into space. After a beat, she pipes up. âHoseok is great, though.â
You glance over at her, not realizing the tiny smile that has made its way onto your face. âYeah. He is.â
âYou know,â your mother muses, the distant look in her eyes full of nostalgia. âWhen you two were in high school, I always suspected that he had a crush on you. Boys always show that they like girls in the stupidest ways when theyâre younger, what with all the teasing and such. But I have to say, the two of you together just make sense.â
You bite your lower lip. âWe do?â
âYeah,â she affirms. âI see it in the way he looks at you when youâre not paying attention. He really cares about you. And I know this relationship is new, and itâs coming off the heels of a breakup, but donât let him go. Okay? At least not without a fight.â
In that instant, you almost tell her that the entire thing is fake. That none of it is real, that Hoseok is just a talented actor who had wanted to see how much of a shit show this weekend would truly be. But as your mother beams at you with all the love and warmth that youâd missed being holed up under the covers in your apartment, you just smile in return.
âOkay, Mom. I promise.â
Hoseok is already gone by the time you all pile into Seokjinâs car, saying he needed to get back to the studio to check on something, even though it was the day after Christmas. You donât say anything, opting to put your headphones on and drown out everything around you as you stare blankly out the window.
âCan she hear us?â Namjoon asks his boyfriend as your eyes start to flutter shut. Seokjinâs hands tighten around the steering wheel as he glances back at you through the rearview mirror.
âI donât think so. Sheâs got those giant noise-cancelling things on her head, and I think sheâs taking a nap.â
Namjoon sighs, running a hand through his hair. âThis is a mess, Jin.â
Seokjin agrees with a grunt. âHonestly, I still canât believe Hobi actually agreed to come this weekend. Volunteered, even.â
âYeah, well, you know how he feels about my sister,â Namjoon whispers, just in case youâre secretly awake or between songs. âThis isnât healthy for either of them. One of them is gonna get their heart broken, and itâs gonna be Hoseok.â
Seokjin tries to be optimistic. âBut it looked as if she was into it, no?â
He strokes his index finger along his chin, pensive and frustrated. âI donât know. Y/N has always been pretty good at hiding it in front of people whenever sheâs upset or anxious. But whatever happened this weekend didnât feel fake to me. From either of them.â
âAh,â Seokjin tuts, driving with one hand as he leans his elbow against the windowsill. âTheyâre both adults, Joonie. Theyâll figure it out, and everything will go back to normal.â
âI donât know,â Namjoon responds with an air of trepidation. But he doesnât say anything else.
â
Before you can blink, itâs New Yearâs Eve. As soon as youâre back from your parentsâ cottage, you pretty much go back to your previous routineâhiding out from the world in your apartment under the covers, only really coming out to eat or go to the bathroom. But this time, youâre not only hiding from the chaos thatâs outside, but also from Hoseok.
Youâve never been more confused. You havenât spoken to him since that weekend, nor have you gone over to his and Namjoonâs apartment. Your brother has reluctantly been giving you space, something that he only ever does when he knows youâre experiencing inner turmoil.
You flop down on your bed, staring at the ceiling, wondering just how you got here. You try to think back on when exactly these feelings had sprung up. Part of you wants to believe that itâs just because you were dying for affection of any kind after your break up, and Hoseok was just the one to provide it for you. You try to reason that if it had been any of your other friends, like Jungkook or Yoongi, youâd probably feel similarly.
But the larger part of your brain knows that that isnât true.
You shut your eyes, taking in a deep breath. You need to be honest with yourself for once.
Truth be told, youâd always had a bit of a thing for Hoseok. When youâd first met him, you had just come home from varsity soccer practice, still wearing your uniform and dripping with sweat. He was sitting on the couch with Namjoon, joking around and teasing him as he struggled through some video game you didnât recognize.
Youâd immediately been attracted to him, his smile being the first thing that had you mesmerized. But you donât really know what happened after that. Heâd taken to teasing you, purposely pushing your buttons just to get a reaction. He was never particularly cruel, mostly annoying, but you figured that he hated you all the same. And because you refused to be pushed around, whatever he gave, you returned. If he was rude to you, you were rude right back. If he was passive aggressive, you accused him of being a giant baby.
Things only got worse when you started dating Jackson. Hoseok absolutely despised him and you could never figure out why. You figured it was because Jackson was quick-witted and often left Hoseok speechless, and he defended you whenever Hoseok decided to act foolishly. You never thought much of it until now, your motherâs words echoing in your head.
Had Hoseok been jealous all this time?
You try to shove the thought away, along with the butterflies that are still occupying your stomach, but to no avail. Maybe Hoseok really did like you, and maybe you like him too. Why else would he ask you to kiss him at the end of the weekend without anyone there to witness it? Surely that had to mean something.
You groan in frustration as your eyes shoot open.
Youâre falling for Jung Hoseok.
In that instant, your phone buzzes. Part of you hopes itâs him, but instead itâs your brotherâs name that pops up on your screen.
[Received: 10:07pm] Namjoon: The guys are all here. Are you still coming over for the countdown? We have wine
[Sent: 10:07pm] Y/N: How dare you tempt me with the devilâs juice
[Received: 10:08pm] Namjoon: Bitch
[Received: 10:08pm] Namjoon: You love wine. Come over
[Received: 10:08pm] Namjoon: Put on real people clothes. No ratty PJs allowed.
[Sent: 10:09pm] Y/N: You sound just like Dad. Fine. Iâll be over in 10
[Received: 10:10pm] Namjoon: Love you sooooo much. Jin and I are just doing some last-minute stuff, let yourself in whenever youâre ready
You heave a sigh and sit up, realizing you canât hide from Hoseok forever. You drag yourself out of bed, quickly changing, making sure you look presentable, and trudging down the hall to Namjoonâs apartment.
You can hear the ruckus that is seven boys from behind the door once you approach. Everyone had come back from visiting their families, gathering at Namjoon and Hoseokâs, as is their tradition. You feel your palms start to sweat as you reach for the doorknob, slowly twisting it open and slipping inside.
No one seems to hear you come in, as thereâs no break in conversation between the five boys situated in the living room. Jin and Namjoon are nowhere to be found, so you assume theyâre still in the process of getting ready for the eveningâs festivities. The television is on, showing one of the many New Yearâs Eve countdown specials, some musical group performing their latest hit blaring from the speakers. Youâre just about to make your presence known when you hear someone mention your name.
âHobi, is it true that you actually went to Joon and Y/Nâs cottage for the holidays?â
The voice belongs to Jimin. You peer around the corner into the living room, still going unnoticed. Hoseok is there, sitting on the couch nursing a beer.
âYeah,â he responds gruffly, as if he doesnât want to talk about it.
A new voice pipes up, this time belonging to Jungkook. He sounds incredulous as he asks, âIs it true that you went there posing as her boyfriend to her parents?â
Another affirmative grunt. You hear a chorus of laughter, and you canât deny that it stings. Are they laughing at Hoseok having to spend a weekend with the person he hates the most, or are they laughing because your situation is just that pathetic?
âAnd how was that?â Yoongi asks as he downs the rest of his bottle of beer.
You can really only see the back of Hoseokâs head, but you can tell based on how he grips his beer a little tighter that heâs getting annoyed with his friends and their teasing. Youâre about to step out from around the corner to put an end to all of it when he finally speaks up.
âHonestly? A waste of fucking time. She didnât even put out. I figured she would be easier than that. Not that I want Jacksonâs sloppy seconds anyway.â
Time stops.
You canât breathe.
You can hear the guys speaking, but you canât process it. You feel like youâre underwater, being dunked in a frozen lake with the ice trapping you below the surface. You donât realize youâre crying until you hear your name being called.
âY/N?â Namjoon asks as he pokes his head out from his bedroom. Immediately, all of the eyes in the room fall on you.
Hoseok stares at you, wide-eyed and mouth agape.
You want to throw up.
Namjoon approaches you quickly, hands coming to rest on your shoulders. âY/N, whatâs wrong? Are you okay?â
You donât break eye contact with Hoseok as you start to shake your head.
Finally, you spit out, âFuck you, Jung Hoseok.â
You wrench yourself from your brotherâs grasp and head for the door, slamming it shut on your way out.
None of it was real.
None of it was real, and you feel so absolutely fucking stupid for believing that it could have been. Every touch, every kiss, all of it was just Hoseok doing what he does bestâpretend. You were right all along. All he wanted was just some sick entertainment, and to maybe lure you into bed so that he could go back to his friends and brag about it behind your back.
You make it back to your place and throw the door open, not looking back when you swing it shut with your foot. But instead of the sound of the door slamming against the wooden frame, you hear it whack against something soft. You turn and immediately become furious at the sight of Hoseok stepping foot into your private space.
You march over and shove him hard, causing him to stumble back.
âGet the fuck out of my apartment.â
Youâre almost shocked at how eerily calm your voice is. But you know that the dam is about to break, and if Hoseok doesnât leave right this minute, youâre going to unleash a tsunami upon him.
âY/N, wait, I can explainââ
That does it.
âExplain what?â You canât help but yell. Youâre just so tired, so embarrassed, so humiliated that all you want is him to leave so that you can cry your eyes out under the covers in peace. You try to shove him again, but heâs expecting it this time, his feet planted firmly on the ground. âExplain how this whole thing was just so that you could have more ammunition to make fun of me? So that I could be another notch in your bed post? Well, guess what, I donât want to hear it, so why donât you just get the fuck out and leave me alone!â
Hoseok vehemently shakes his head. âIâm not going anywhere.â
You bite your lip to stop from screaming at him, staring up at the ceiling in a feeble attempt to stop the tears from flowing.
âIâm asking you nicely, Hoseok,â you whisper, your voice trembling. âPlease just leave, I canât even look at you, I canâtââ
Before you can blink, heâs on you, lips pressed so firmly against yours that the contact makes your teeth click. Hoseok soothes the sting as his movements slow, his mouth coaxing a light moan from your throat. His hand lifts to cup your cheek, and for a delirious moment, you sink into the feeling of the kiss, of him kissing you.
It isnât until you feel him tugging you against the length of his body that his words come rushing back to you in a flood of shame, anger, and hurt. You plant your hands on his chest and forcefully push him away, a resounding CRACK ringing through your apartment as a red mark in the shape of your handprint blooms across his cheek.
Hoseok is stunned, immediately letting you go. He rubs at where youâd slapped him, his lips downturned in a frown that doesnât suit his beautiful face. He gapes at you for a few minutes before finally choking out, âWhat the fuck was that for?â
âStop toying with me!â You practically wail, tears stinging your eyes. âYou donât get to justâŚjust kiss me like that out of nowhere and pretend like everything is okay! What am I, a joke to you? Someone you can play around with and then go back and brag about to your friends?â
You take in a deep, wavering breath, shaking your head as you force yourself to look him in the eye.
âI canât believe I trusted you.â You see Hoseokâs face fall, his hands twitching at his sides, and somewhere in the back of your mind, you imagine that itâs because he wants to reach out and touch you. You hate yourself for wanting it to be true. âI canât believe I confided in you, that Iââ
You clamp your mouth shut before the secret youâve been holding back ever since Namjoon had introduced the two of you all those years ago slips from your tongue. This seems to spark something within Hoseok, and his face sets in determination.
âThat you what?â He demands, taking a step forward. âIâm not playing around, Y/N. I wouldnât do that. Not to you.â
âThen why did you say those things about me to the others?â You cry, hot tears streaking down your face. You helplessly swipe at them with your sleeves, hating that youâve allowed yourself to get this emotional, that heâs seeing you break down in front of him. You turn away burying your face in your hands. âIâm so stupid, Iâm so, so fucking stupidâŚâ
You feel his arms circling you, and you start to cry harder when you feel his lips press against your crown.
âYouâre not stupid,â he promises quietly, a large, warm palm rubbing gentle circles against your back. âThis is real. The entire weekend with your parentsâevery touch, every kiss, I meant it.â He lets out a laugh. Not one of humour, but one of weary exhaustion. âYouâre really gonna make me say it, arenât you?â
You force yourself to take deep breaths, force yourself to pretend as if his touch isnât a welcome comfort. You will the tears to cease, shakily asking, âSay what?â
Another laugh, this one followed by a short, hitched breath.
âIâm in love with you.â
You immediately try to wrestle yourself out of his hold, though his hands remain steadfast on your waist. âYou what?â
His grip tightens ever so slightly, his gaze soft as he smiles down at you. âIâm in love with you.â
Your eyes search his, breath caught in your throat. âYouâre lying.â
âIâm not,â he promises, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear. âIâve been in love with you for as long as I can remember.â
Youâre too stunned to speak. How long had you dreamed of Hoseok saying those exact words to you? For him to want you, only you, for the weekend at your parentsâ cottage to have been real instead of just a ruse to get your family off your back? Your eyes are still fixated on his, trying to figure out whether or not heâs telling the truth.
Hoseok must sense the thoughts racing through your mind, so he decides to continue. âWhen Namjoon introduced us back in high school, the first time I came over and youâd come back from soccer practice, my jaw nearly hit the floor. Namjoon figured out how I felt and warned me to stay away from you, so I kept my distance.â
Namjoon knew? Your brother knew this whole time?
âI was an asshole to you because it was the only way I knew how to get your attention. We were kids at the time, you know? Just stupid teenagers. But by the time weâd all grown up, that was just how we spoke to each other, and it was the only way I knew how to get you to even look in my direction. And then you were dating that asshole Jackson, and you just seemed so happy, and I couldnât do anything about it.â He scoffs at himself, letting out a deep sigh. âIâm an idiot, right?â
You donât answer. You canât. Your voice is locked up in your throat, refusing to come out. So you just stare at him, stunned.
He continues. âI shouldnât have said what I did back there. The guysâŚthey donât know how I feel about you, and they wouldnât leave me alone. I know that it was wrong, and I regretted it the second I said it. But I donât regret spending time with you, getting to really know you, or getting to pretend like you were actually mine, if only for a few days. I know I have a lifetime to atone for, and I just need you to know that Iâm going to try, if youâll let me.â
You donât know what to say.
Hoseok smiles nervously, one hand coming up to rake through his hair. âYou know, Y/N, Iâm kind of bearing my heart and soul to you here, a little feedback would be appreciated.â
You still canât will yourself to speak, and you feel Hoseokâs hand on your waist starting to slip.
âLook, Iâm really sorry, I should have just kept my fucking mouth shut. Forget I said anything, Iâll just goââ
Before he can turn, you cut him off with your hands on either side of his face and your lips against his.
Words evade you, so you hope that you can convey everything in the kiss. Hoseok melts against you, his hands holding you close, slipping under the hem of your shirt to fan across the skin of your lower back. You reach up to tangle your fingers in his hair, only pulling away for a second to catch your breath.
âHoly shit,â Hoseok pants, his breath fanning across your lips. âYou just kissedââ
You kiss him again, effectively shutting him up, because there are more important things the two of you can be doing with your mouths. Hoseok sinks into the kiss, moving you backwards until heâs crowding you against the wall of your front hallway. You moan when his tongue traces along your lower lip, and you open up for him, knees nearly buckling at the sensation of the first touch against yours.
The kiss is everything youâve dreamed of and more. You can feel the sincerity, the desire, the love as Hoseokâs movements slow, stealing all the air from your lungs. His tongue gently caresses yours as he takes control, and you can feel his eyelashes fluttering light as a feather against the curve your cheek. Your fingers card through his hair, nails scraping against his scalp. He moans into your mouth, the same erotic sound that had escaped him the first night at the cottage. Hoseok presses you more firmly against the length of his body, and you can feel his arousal against your lower stomach.
Pulling away with a great amount of reluctance, your eyes search his. All you see is the truth.
Both his, and yours.
âIt was real to me too,â you confess, breathless in the best way possible. âI didnât know I wanted it to be until you kissed me under the mistletoe, but I do. I want you, Hoseok. All of you. Deep down, I think I always have.â
The smile that spreads across his face is so beautiful and radiant that it rivals the sun. Hoseok presses his forehead against yours, and takes in a deep breath as his eyes shut. He doesnât say anything, and you run your thumb along his cheek, pecking at his mouth.
âWhat is it?â
âI justâŚâ he begins, his voice so soft and so full of emotion. You press your palms against his shoulders so that you can see him fully, and youâre shocked to see the tears clinging to his lashes. âI love you,â he confesses, and you still feel your breath hitch at the words. âI love you, and I just need a second to make sure Iâm not dreaming.â
âYouâre not,â you promise, smoothing out the collar of his shirt absentmindedly. You want to say those three words back to him, but you know that youâre not ready yet. Thereâs still years of hurt to work through, to resolve and fix. But your heart longs for him, marvels in how right it feels to be in his arms, to kiss him, to be as close to him as possible.
Hoseok seems to be able to read your mind, his thumb rubbing gentle circles against your hip. âI know I have a lot of apologizing to do,â he says, barely above a whisper. âIâd like to show you just how sorry I am, and how much I love you, if youâll let me.â
Even after his confession, and though heâs holding you so close that nothing else but the two of you exists, you have to feebly ask, âPromise you wonât use this to make fun of me behind my back with the guys?â
Hoseokâs head hangs in shame for a second before he rises to look at you, the smile gone from his face. Itâs replaced by a look of sadness, pain filtering into his gaze. âPlease, Y/N. I need you to believe me when I say that I donât want to hurt you anymore. Iâve never felt this way about anyone, ever. Iâm not about to blow my chance with you for some stupid prank.â
You worry your lower lip between your teeth before you raise your hand, holding up your pinky finger. âPromise?â
A tiny smile begins to spread across his face as he holds his up as well, hooking his little finger with yours. âPromise.â
Youâre not sure who leans in first after that. All you know is that his hand is cupping your jaw and youâre clinging to his shirt as he kisses you with so much love, passion, and adoration that you swear your heart is going to burst out of your chest.
Hoseok guides you in the direction of your room, and the two of you stumble along, clothes thrown overhead and shed along the way. By the time you feel Hoseok gently push you down on the bed, his shirt is off and youâre only in your bra and panties, a plain, boring white set that you wish was just a little fancier. Hoseok doesnât seem to mind though, as he climbs over you and looks down at your body as if he wants to devour you whole.
âYouâre so fucking perfect,â he pants, his mouth scorching hot as he pulls bruises with his teeth along your neck and collarbone. You whine beneath him as he noses your bra strap down your shoulder, sucking and licking down the curve of your breast.
âHobi, please,â you whimper as he tugs your bra down to expose your nipples, immediately looking you dead in the eye as he elongates his tongue and traces the very tip along the edge of your areola. He lavishes your breast with attention, his thumb grazing over your other nipple before he switches his ministrations. You arch into his mouth, and Hoseok takes the opportunity to slide his hands underneath you to unhook your bra.
He tosses it aside flippantly before pressing open mouthed kisses between the valley of your breasts, and down your stomach.
âIâve been thinking about you ever since that first night at the cottage,â Hoseok breathes against the band of your panties, causing goosebumps to rise on your skin. He tugs them down slowly, his voice deep and husky as he tries to keep himself under control.
You can tell itâs a losing battle, if his blown out pupils and the tent in his jeans are any indication.
âThe things I want to do to you,â he growls, his palms spreading your legs wide so that theyâre flat against the bed. You whimper out a moan as he trails kisses from your knee up your inner thigh, stopping just before where you need him most. âWith my tongueâŚwith my handsâŚâ Hoseok runs his thumb along your dripping slit, not adding much pressure, but just a ghost of a touch to let you know that he sees what a mess youâve already made. âFuck, you have the prettiest pussy Iâve ever seen.â
âJesus Christ,â you gasp as you feel his calloused digit swipe lightly over your swollen clit. âHobi, please, I need moreââ
He smirks up at you, and you watch as he, with all the time in the world, bends down while maintaining steady eye contact. His tongue pokes out of his mouth and he flicks the tip of it against your clit, and itâs enough to already having you buck up towards him for something, anything.
âAre you gonna be a good girl and give me what I want?â Hoseok purrs before leaning down to suck on your clit, hard. You yelp at the sensation but then he moves away, looking up at you expectantly.
You card your fingers through his hair, tugging lightly at the roots. âYes, Hoseok, please, anything. You already have me. Please, please, I need you.â
âMmm,â he hums, sucking on it again before backing off. Part of you wants to smack him upside the head. How is he still so infuriating? âCanât wait to make this pussy mine. Canât wait to claim you, to ruin you for anyone else.â
You canât help but grumble. âI donât know, at this point, Iâm starting to believe youâre all talkââ
Youâre abruptly cut off my Hoseok latching his mouth to your clit, delivering the perfect amount of pressure as he licks and sucks at your most sensitive area. You moan out something akin to his name, and it only spurs him on further. He growls against your pussy and you feel it vibrating deep in your core, your fingers grasping for purchase against his soft strands.
Your eyes flutter shut as he focuses all his attention on your clit, drawing out more and more obscene moans and whines from your lips. Itâs when you feel two of his fingers sliding into your heat that your eyes fly open and you start to squirm in his grasp.
âYouâre so wet, baby,â Hoseok growls as he continues to massage your inner walls with his long, deft fingers. He curls them upward until he finds what heâs looking for, the spot deep inside of you that has you keening when he presses on it. You feel him grin against your skin. âAh, there it is.â
Youâre not sure if you can survive this experience, not if he keeps talking like that. But it stirs something within you, something primal and desperate, and you buck your hips as his movements get faster and faster.
The obscene sound of his tongue flicking against your clit stops as he suddenly sits up, and you let out a whine of protest. His fingers remain inside of you but he moves so that heâs draped along your side, slightly hovering over your body. He leans in to kiss you, just as his hand starts to move. The heel of his palm beats against your clit with every thrust of his fingers, and you cry against his lips as he shifts to whisper the filthiest things into your ear.
The wet sound of his fingers fucking you and his palm slapping against your pussy fills the room and has your legs starting to shake.
âPress those legs really wide for me, baby,â Hoseok orders as his hand picks up speed. You do as he says, and to reward you, his hand fucks you a little harder. âGood girl. Fuck. Iâve been thinking of making you come all fucking week. Mmm, how does it feel, baby? How does it feel to have my fingers fuck you open, prepare you for my cock?â
You want to scream, but you can see the light at the end of the tunnel, the release that youâd so desperately been longing for rapidly approaching. Instead you whimper out a barely-there response, Hoseokâs fingers dragging brutally against your g-spot.
âAlways dreamed of watching you come, of making you come. Itâs all Iâve ever fucking wanted, and now I have you right where Iâve always wanted you. Now I want you to come for me. Can you do that baby? Can you come on my fingers?â
One of your hands fists the sheets while the other holds him close, nudging him with your nose until he gets the hint to kiss you.
âCome for me,â he murmurs into the kiss, and you feel your walls begin to clench down on him.  The fluttering begins, and Hoseokâs tone becomes gentle, almost reverent. âGood girl,â he praises as he feels the beginnings of your orgasm. âGood girl, come on, come onâŚâ
You come with a scream, bucking your pussy against his palm as he helps you ride out the pleasure. Shockwaves tear through you as Hoseok extends your orgasm for as long as possible, peppering your face and neck with kisses as you finally start to come down.
âMmm, baby, look at you,â Hoseok purrs, sliding his fingers out of your wet heat and holding them up so you can see how they glisten in the dim light. âOpen your mouth for me, Y/N.â
You do as youâre told, and you see his nostrils start to flare as he slides his fingers into your mouth and you suck the evidence of your own bliss off his skin. His prominent Adamâs apple bobs as he swallows, removing is fingers before he kisses you for all heâs worth. Your fingers tremble as you struggle with his belt, still feeling lightheaded from his earlier ministrations. Hoseok eventually just lifts himself off the bed and shucks off his jeans and boxers in one go, abandoning them in a pile on the floor as he palms his hardened cock.
You sit up on your elbows as he places a knee back on the bed, and you bite your lip at his size. Hoseok is gorgeous, truly having a dancerâs body. Heâs streamlined and lean, and his cock is thicker than you expect. He strokes himself steadily while gazing upon you like a wolf about to pounce on a rabbit.
âHow do you want it?â
You bite your lip before reaching over to gently grasp his wrist. âI want to see you.â
Hoseok nods as you sit up fully and open the drawer to your bedside table to retrieve a condom from your stash. You open the foil and help slide it down his length, watching with a hint of smugness as his eyes roll back in his head when you squeeze his shaft. Once itâs rolled on all the way to his base, he nudges you to lie back, and you part your thighs for him once more.
He lets out a groan, hooking your legs over his elbows, before he leans forward, the head of his cock brushing against your still-sensitive lips. âI still canât believe this is finally happening,â he chuckles breathlessly as he effectively folds you in half, leaving you completely open and exposed for him. You reach down to guide him in, your other hand cupping the back of his neck as he rests his forehead against yours.
You feel the head of his cock parting your lips and then the delicious sting of him slowly filling you up. You donât realize youâre both holding your breath until Hoseok releases a choked moan and you whimper out his name in response. You take him, inch by delicious inch, until you feel his pelvis pressing flush against yours.
He takes a moment to just breathe through the feeling of your tight, wet heat wrapped around him, and it allows for you to adjust to his girth inside of you. Once you feel ready, you peck at his mouth as a signal to move.
More proof that Hoseok is a dancerâhis hips, once they start to roll into you, are absolutely fucking deadly. He fucks you like heâll never get the chance again, like itâs his last day on Earth and he wants you writhing beneath him to be his final memory. Your nails scrape along his back as he starts out slow, his cock filling you so perfectly, going even deeper than his fingers had just moments before.
You also notice that when Hoseok isnât whispering into your ear with the some of the filthiest shit youâve ever heard, he cannot stop kissing you. Itâs almost as if he canât believe youâre real, and the feeling of your lips against his grounds him in a way that he just canât explain.
He starts to pick up the pace, his hips slamming against yours with more vigour. âHow does it feel, baby?â He grunts, grinding into you. âHow does it feel to have my cock buried deep inside of you?â
He doesnât give you a chance to respond as he braces his knees against the bed and starts to fuck you harder, the sound of skin slapping against skin filling your ears. You moan as he nips at your jaw, your nails dragging long, angry red marks along the honeyed skin of his back.
Youâve never seen Hoseok like this before in all the years that youâve known him. His brow is furrowed in concentration, forehead dotted with sweat. You can tell that heâs trying to hold himself back as he explores every inch of your body, worshipping and revering you like he goddess he knows that you are.
âYour pussy is so fucking wet,â he praises, sucking in harsh breaths as he pounds into you, the bed frame creaking under the force of his thrusts. Youâre helpless beneath him, and you see the veins in his neck start to protrude as he starts to lose control.
âBaby, Iâm so close,â you keen, pushing his sweaty bangs out of his face.
âYeah?â He asks, even though he can tell that youâre almost there. He presses the full length of his body against yours and fucks you until thereâs nothing left in the entire universe but you and him. âCome with me, baby.â
When you come for the second time, you come harder than you ever have before. You scream out his name as you cling to him for dear life, your back arching clear off the bed as you feel wetness coating you both. Hoseok nearly chokes as he comes, burying himself deep inside of you as he spills into the condom, pinning you to the mattress as your name falls repeatedly from his lips.
Hoseok collapses on top of you, effectively squishing you under the weight of his body. You pout and squirm, nudging at his shoulders, though his spent body makes no effort to move.
âHobi,â you whine with an air of laughter in your voice, limbs going limp. âGet off.â
âLet me justâŚbask in this for a second,â he pants, face still buried in the crook of your neck. âIâve never made a girl squirt before.â
âOh my god,â you wheeze, shoving at his shoulders. He moves off of you and you roll onto your stomach, burying your face in your pillow. He takes the opportunity to peel off the condom, tying it in a knot and tossing it in the trash. You say something, but itâs muffled by the fabric and Hoseok canât help but giggle.
âI canât hear you, dumb-dumb.â
You lift your face, but then cover it with your hands. âIâm so sorry. Iâve never done that before.â
âSorry?â Hoseok asks, rising slightly before wrapping his arms around you and tugging you flush against him. âThat was the hottest thing Iâve ever seen, and the best sex Iâve ever hand, and youâre trying to apologize?â
You peer at him through the gap in your fingers. âItâs embarrassing.â
Hoseok wrenches your hands away from your face and kisses you before you can protest.
âBelieve me when I tell you that it was the hottest thing Iâve ever seen. You donât need to be ashamed of yourself, or your body, or anything. I love you. Every part of you.â
You bite your lip and look away, knowing youâre unable to say the three words that you know Hoseok wants to hear more than anything. But again, sensing your discomfort, he lifts his hand to brush your hair away from your face.
âDonât feel guilty,â he says quietly, stroking his thumb along your cheek. âYou donât have to say it back. I hope that one day you will, but I donât expect you to reciprocate right away.â
Your eyes bore into his, and you wonder why this version of Hoseok couldnât have been the one youâd met when you were sixteen. You lean in and kiss him so softly and so shyly that itâs barely there. But when you pull away, heâs smiling at you. That beautiful, radiant smile that makes you glad youâre lying down because it makes you weak in the knees.
âIâm getting there,â you promise, nose brushing against his. And you know it to be true. Even as youâre in his arms now, nestled perfectly like you were always meant to exist in his hold, youâre falling, falling falling. You just need some more time. But you know youâll get there, if his tiny, hopeful smile is any indication.
You suddenly start to hear a ruckus from the hall, and also loud cheers from street level outside. You rise slightly, trying to peer over at your alarm clock, but Hoseok drags you back down with a pout.
âClean up later. Iâm comfy.â
âWhat time is it?â You ask, ignoring his petulant frown.
Hoseok caves and rolls over, emitting a small noise of surprise. â11:59.â
Then you hear people starting to count down.
10!
9!
Hoseok turns back to you, his eyes wide and shining as he takes you in, still basking in the after glow.
8!
7!
6!
You smile at him, the tiniest tear clinging to your lashes, and as you blink, Hoseok wipes it away with his thumb before it can tumble down your cheek.
5!
He leans in closerâŚ
4!
Your eyes slowly close as you slide your hand along the back of his neckâŚ
3!
His arms pull you in until thereâs no space between youâŚ
2!
You feel his warm breath fanning across your lipsâŚ
1!
Happy New Year!
The clock strikes midnight just as Hoseok kisses you, fireworks exploding just outside to ring in the new year. You lose yourself in the feel of him once more, in the taste of his tongue as it glides along the seam of your mouth. You donât protest as he rolls on top of you, his thigh pressing between yours to spread your legs yet again.
When his questing hand blindly reaches out for the drawer of your bedside table, you detach from him momentarily to pant out, âShouldnât we go back and rejoin the others?â
Hoseok merely chuckles, tearing open another condom. âScrew the others,â he grins, and you canât help but bite your lip in anticipation as you feel his arousal growing stiffer between your thighs. âI have a lot of lost time to make up for. They can wait.â
And as he pushes inside of you again, you canât help but agree. Youâd spent so long feeling so sad and so lost, youâd nearly forgotten what it was like to experience true happiness, and true bliss.
But as Hoseok worships your body and makes you forget about the outside world, you figure that you deserve to cling to whatever small piece of joy that you can. And you doâover and over, until the sun comes up and neither of you have the strength or energy to carry on.
Even after all of that though, Hoseok still bugs you to run your fingers along his arms and chest to help him fall asleep. You snort and call him a brat, to which he taunts you by saying youâre going to need to buy extra sets of sheets for every time he comes over.
You just shake your head as he drifts off, snoring softly, looking more and more like an angel as slumber finally takes him. You press a kiss to his forehead and nuzzle against him, his arms automatically wrapping around you, even in sleep. You sigh with a smile, relaxing in his grasp. You know that you still have a ways to go, but with Hoseok by your side, you finally feel ready to step into the sun.
Happy New Year, indeed.
A/N: It is FINALLY DONE! This is the longest one-shot Iâve ever written. I meant to have this out sooner, but you know how life is sometimes. I hope you enjoyed! And I hope you all had a happy and safe new year. Drop me a line and let me know what you think! Please share if you liked it!<3

hey !! finally getting around to posting this. you can call me aries, iâm 23 and in the bst ( uk ) timezone. my pronouns are she / her. iâm a little lost art school grad with a lot of student debt, a taste for red wine and an unhealthy obsession with arctic monkeys. not gonna lie, i whipped this kiddo up specifically for this rp so iâm still getting used to them, but hopefully with this intro youâll get a feel for what theyâre about. without further ado, hereâs albyâ
trigger warnings & disclaimer: mentions of hard drugs, alcohol, anger issues, destructive tendencies. my intention writing this intro was not to glamorize or romanticize these things in any way but if anything i have written comes across that way, please lmk!
smash that âĄÂ to plot or hit me up on discord @ chaotic aries#5793 !!
âand this is how it starts...â ( the basics )
name: alby fox miller age: twenty-three gender: non-binary ( demi-boy ) pronouns: he / him & they / them date of birth: may 24th 1997 zodiac: gemini sun, pisces moon, aries rising orientation: pansexual occupation: bassist for drive like i do career claim: ross macdonald ( the 1975 ) genre: alt-pop, pop-rock
âitâs the way we are, we were smoking by eleven & knocking âround town...â ( background )
youâre born in 1997, in the north west of england. wilmslow, to be exact. a quaint and affluent town, just south of manchester. the family youâre born into is a comfortable one. not quite living lavishly, but not at all struggling, either. your parents both work in business out in the city. you go to a good school. but... all is not how you exactly want it to be.
see, your parents are quite pushy. they expect you to live how they want, rather than how you do. at the all boyâs academy they enroll you in as a teenager, they expect you to pick what they deem as intellectual subjects, such as foreign languages, further mathematics and computer science. thereâs a focus on you becoming someone that makes a lot of money, rather than someone who is happy.
but youâre... not the kind of person that can be molded so easily. youâre a fairly happy-go-lucky kid, but also a rebellious one. your parentsâ strict ways of trying to force you down their chosen path, only encourages you more heavily to choose your own.Â
at fourteen, you meet the guys. lennox, jovi & jasper. theyâre some of the only kids at school who can be bothered to be around you, with your high energy and bolshy attitude. really, theyâre the only people who embrace you for who you are. they encourage your weirdness and outspokenness. itâs not long before you find yourself wanting to do everything together. itâs not long before the four of you are inseparable.
from there, you fully detach from everything your parents want you to be. you embrace your individuality. you also find the courage and bravery to come out to your parents as non-binary at the age of sixteen. thereâs not a single personâs opinion that youâre afraid of, or even care about.Â
itâs not all rainbows & sunshine, though. you struggle somewhat with anger issues, and a bit of depression. youâre also practically addicted to getting into trouble: picking fights with bullies at school, selling weed & pills to your friends around town, underaged drinking... you get the gist. though you keep your fears internal, you sometimes worry youâll get nowhere in life.
so of course, the second the boys are talking about starting a band, youâre all in. imagine if you made it big someday? wouldnât that be sick? youâre immediately drawn to bass guitar, and use a monthâs worth of saved up pocket money to pick one up from the big music store in the city. thankfully, you pick it up quite quickly, because before you can even realize it, things are getting so... real. by sixteen, you donât feel you have the option to stick around at school for sixth form, because drive like i do is already playing local venues and working on its first album.
youâre just seventeen when the album is released. somehow, the climb to fame is faster than you could have ever imagined. it seems like yesterday you were still watching bass tutorials on youtube in your bedroom and practicing in your friendâs garage after school. first is some notoriety across the uk, but before you know it â boom! global stardom. the fame is a heavy weight for someone so young to carry... but fuck it, itâs gonna be fun, and you know it.
youâre twenty-three now, and days are gone of pipedreams formed in your parentâs shoebox room. you split your time between manchester, london, and LA â and thatâs just during rare moments of downtime from your world tours. your band is 4 albums in, and whoever hasnât heard of you might as well have been living under a rock. is it narcissistic to think like that? maybe, but you donât care. this is rock nâ roll, baby. this is the life.
naturally, all eyes are mostly on your very outspoken frontman. heâs controversial, but the media canât get enough of him. as for you? to them, youâre... the bandâs problem child. while you argue that your behavior is no different than that of your friend, heâs got the lead singer charm. they donât seem to like you as much. why? well...
âdrink, fall, spew...â ( troublesome tendencies & exposed secret )
you never really coped as well as you acted like you did, did you? while you were grateful for the fame, everything was... a lot, and it was all at once. you didnât even get the chance to process it.Â
take four twenty-somethings and add constant prying journalists, paparazzi, and constantly full schedules into the mix. and why not pepper in some typical rockstar vices, too? alcohol, drugs, parties, throwaway sex. things are destined to get a little rocky. though you tried at first not to show it to your fans, your destructive behavior soon got the better of you, and you became known to drunkenly lash out at paps, smash cameras and storm out of interviews when the questions got too personal.Â
this all came to a head when you were caught on camera several times distributing acid tabs, cocaine and mdma at events, music festivals & awards shows. the press gave the band a pretty bad time over this, and given the other membersâ controversies and lennonâs similar link to drugs, it wasnât a good look for any of you.Â
it didnât matter that you had a side to you that was good, pure. that you were always kind and loving and down-to-earth towards your fans and friends. you were a bad seed, and you wound up on exposed with the rest of your bandmates. hopefully you can prove thereâs more to you than what the media shows...
âoh & you say, iâm such a cliche...â ( personality )
immm gonna rush thru this section & write less formally bc those other parts too me WAY too long
basically a literal toddler. loves a laugh, loves a good time, but get on his bad side and he WILL throw a tantrum
itâs mainly people like press & paps he lets his anger out on. the bandâs fans and people heâs close with on a personal level know heâs a good person underneath it all
loves a bit of mischief / rebellion / drama
king of hiding insecurities....
literal softie.... like... who allowed this binch to be so soft. heâs so open about how much he loves his friends (particularly his bandmates) and will platonically kiss and hug and love people all the time, particularly on the show bc heâs trying to show the cameras his softer side dfjghdfdfg
so excitable like WHERE does this kid get all his energy...
( tw drugs ) will probably struggle a bit on the show without access to drugs, but ( tw addiction mention ) he has never really been addicted or dependent on them, just a frequent user.
outspoken as fuck, has no filter sometimes oops
very flamboyant, in line with the general aesthetic of his band but also on a personal level. sports a kind of soft gothic/punk/early 2000s emo look. always paints his nails and wears makeup etc
sleeps around a lot but has never really been able to find a lasting relationship, has just had a bunch of short-lived flings???? but lowkey develops crushes at the drop of a hat and would love to properly fall in love with someone who could be with him forever & accept him for all his flaws, but he highly doubts that will ever happen fgjdhsfg
âwhy donât you figure my heart out?...â ( wanted connections )
exes on good terms
exes on bad terms ( maybe someone who actually really wanted to stay with him but couldnt deal with his bullshit and now resents him? )
someone who loves the bandâs music & inflates his ego ab it
someone he hasnât seen for years that heâs reunited on the show & maybe theyâre revisiting old feelings for each other??? and he wants it to be DIFFERENT this time but also theres shit tons of fucking cameras and shit which... makes things difficult...
first friend he made in LA or in the states in general, someone who showed him the ropes
someone who hates him / hates the band like PLEASE
and also just a straight up enemy maybe?? someone who finds him annoying as fuck??
FRIENDS!!!
literally anything just hmu and lay an idea on me and theres 90% chance ill be down

Annon-Guy: What are you personal thoughts on Nu-13 and Lambda-11 In terms of gameplay and personality? You can talk about their character designs too id you want too.
Okay, I need to first summarize what I know of Nu and Lambda at the moment before I give my personal thoughts. A lot of shorthanding and maybe some errors may be involved so plz forgive me.
long post bellow, beware.
Nu-13 and Lambda-11 are both Prime Field Devices, artificial humans made for the purpose of exploring the boundary. Specifically, they are Murakumo Units: PFDâs outfitted with the Nox Nyctores Lux Sanctus: Murakumo as full-on weapons.
When Ragnaâs siblings were captured, because of Sayaâs innate gift with seithr, she was used as the basis for creating all of these Units. There are usually referred to as âclonesâ which means everyone treats them as either the same as Saya or also sisters, leading to a lot of incest jokes and rants in the fandom. More on this later but I feel like it has to be brought up.
we first meet Nu-13 as the final boss of the first game Calamity Trigger, where we learn that this is technically the 3rd time she and Ragna have met, since before this Ragna was blowing up NOL branches and cauldrons to stop more Murakumo Units from being made, as they are all just fake copies of his sister who was tortured for their creation.
Nu-13 has a full-on yandere crush on Ragna due to 2 factors I believe, 1. she is constantly viewing him through the lens of the fragment of Sayaâs soul saying âRagna is the big brother who loves meâ, and 2. Ragna killing her again and again. This causes her to see Ragna killing her as loving her. Not helping is her being made in the Boundary which completely fucks up your mental state when near it.
At the end of almost every ending in CT, Nu defeats Ragna, skewering them both on her sword, they fall into the Cauldron and travel back in time 100 years to become the Black Beast that ravaged the world in the Dark War, creating a time loop. As when a Murakumo does an imperfect fusion with an Azure Grimoire (or at least a piece of the Azure) it becomes a Black Beast, with a perfect fusion resulting in a Kusanagi: the God Slayer (which is what Noel becomes and what the villains were trying to do to take down Amaterasu (the god of Blazblue world). Fitting as a Murakumo, with the Kusanagi being a super version of it, has a Nox capable of resisting Phenomenon Intervention, which is the Mater Unitâs main Power. So when they say God Slayer they do not mean gods in general they mean a SPECIFIC god. Just need to say that).
Anyways, Nu kills Ragna every now and again for like 725 loops before Noel steps in during the true ending and manages to grab Ragna before he and Nu fall into the Cauldron.
In Continuum Shift, the second game taking place right/ a week after the first game, Nuâs body is recovered from the bottom of the Cauldron (yes those things apparently have a bottom they arenât just portals) by Sector Seven and Kokonoe proceeds to ake Nuâs soul and put it in the body of another Murakumo Unit, Lambda-11 to use as a puppet and fight for her. Her weapons are made of titanium alloy instead of Hihi'irokane (the mythical Japanese metal which is also in the Susanoâo Unit and is also the name of a Soul cutting sword in Blazblue), and she is outfitted with an IDEA Engine, an improved version of the Artificial Causality Phenomenon Weapons: a scientific counterpart to the Nox Nyctores using Atomic Power rather than souls.
Lambdaâs memories are still in there and she recalls the torture she had to endure by all the scientists creating her, which I assume all Murakumos underwent including Nu, so Kokonoe has to erase her memories to make her an effective tool, even if she regrets it.
They don't really explain where the soul starts and the mind/memories begin and vice versa though, this is another thing I will tackle later.
She sends out Lambda in the second game to do things, she like Tager for the most part just acts as Kokonoeâs proxy, until the climax of the true ending where Ragna is fighting Terumi at the top of the NOL branch. Just as Terumi is about to kill Ragna, Lambda takes a lethal blow for Ragna, and in her final moments, Nuâs soul comes to the surface and is glad she got to see Ragna again, him having recently gone through the character development of not seeing Murakumos as things but as people after interacting with Noel. As she dies and fades into sparkles, weird for a science thing, she grants Ragna her Idea Engine, giving him the power boost he needs to defeat Terumi and later save Noel who was smelted into the Kusanagi.
Now in the third game, because Ragna and Nu have a Life Link, which means one cannot die permanently without the other being killed in a short time frame, Nu is now able to come back as she couldnât before with Kokonoe shoving her soul into Lambda. She mostly just acts as the villains' combat android until she copies Noelâs power to summon the Master Unit (as both are Saya fragments and also fragments of The Origin, the first PFD who made contact with the Master Unit and sort of.....became it?). Then in the climax, the villains summon Take-Mikazuchi, a giant titan satellite laser thing, and make Nu the core of it. Once the body is destroyed Ragna goes inside to deal with Nu. She proceeds with her usual shtick of telling Ragna they will âbecome oneâ and to kill her and all that, saying the backstory of pretty much every Murakumo about how she was made to be a weapon and how she was tortured and shit, this is also her saying Noelâs backstory since Noel âObservedâ Nu as her which is SORT of true since they are both Saya but not really, itâs confusing as hell. But, basically, she is saying the shared Murakumo Backstory and Ragna sees this as her cries to be saved, while Nu, who only sees her and Ragnaâs relationship as a mutually sadomasochistic one, goes bonkers and tries to kill Ragna, not out of yandere lust, but actual anger and hatred. Ragna wins and brings her out of Take-Mikazuchi, where Izanami takes control of her and makes her stab Ragna and he goes berserk and loses control of the Azure Grimoire.
the fourth game Central Fiction is a mess so I know the least here but from what I recall:
Nu is now growing to be her own person, she is less robotic but that means Yandere Ragna mode is on all the time. She is going around absorbing Nox Nyctores to get power so she can kill Ragna and do the merge. Near the climax, she is fighting Jubei and when she almost kills Tsubaki, Hakumen steps in and wrecks her shit. (In a previous time loop Tsubaki was killed by Nu b/c Noel didnât exist and wasnât Jinâs secretary instead of Tsubaki, so she went after Jin in the first game who was going after Ragna, she got caught in the crossfire, with Nuâs yandere mind hating any female in the same room as Ragna, and dies. Jin then falls into the cauldron after Ragna and Nu to become Hakumen during the Dark War. More time loop BS).
Meanwhile due to the Embryo, BS plot device, Lambda just.....comes back to life. Even though her soul was technically never a part of the story as it was NUâS soul in the body during CS. Anyways she is basically âgood Nuâ she is fighting the villains through sheer Power of Love and just wants to see Rgana again, she is pretty unimportant in the overall scheme of things.
After the world is remade Noel and Lambda move into the rebuilt church where Ragna and the siblings grew up and became nuns, looking after the comatose Nu who is kind of a vegetable with her sole reason for existing, Ragna, now no longer existing and all memory of him being erased.
Okay so after that lengthy summary, here are my thoughts.
1. the sister thing.
In spite of them being âclonesâ of Ragnaâs little sister Saya, that hasn't stopped a shit load of ship teasing with the Murakumos by both the writers and the fandom.
Part of me thinks itâs because they go too far in the âThey are their own unique people, they arenât just fake copies of Sayaâ to which the fans mostly agree, but that just means while they arenât Saya they are still related/connected to her. It isn't like Ragna can only have ONE sister.
Also, the reveal of Izanami being Saya at the end of CS also factors into this.
My only way to do mental gymnastics around this is saying that by âcloneâ they just mean copy/looks like her and has the same abilities, but genetically they are different.
I mean, we have no idea how Murakumos....work. They can't have any mechanical bits because we see them get zapped in-game and they have no metal, Noel CERTAINLY would've known she wasn't human if she didn't grow like a normal human or eat, sleep, produce waste, etc.
To me, Murakumos seem to be like software/computer programs given physical form via seithr. More like the Valentines in Guilty Gear, ârobotsâ made up of information.
Plus, the story only ever points out the sibling connection with Ragna and Noel, and thatâs in the LAST game and until then sheâs just a stranger to him, with Lambda and Nu NEVER being treated the same.
And before anyone goes âBUT THE SCIENTIFIC DEFINITION OF CONE MEANS âHUR DE DUR, SAME DNAâ AND THEY USE THE WORD CLONE TO DESCRIBE THEM IN CANON! MEH!â, that could just be an over-simplification as to what they are, and I feel like a lot of series just rely on an oversimplification of terms. Like how Black Holes mostly work in fiction is NOT how they work IRL.
Now, does this mean I wouldâve wanted Ragna to get with Noel or Lambda or Nu? Fuck no. I can appreciate cute little one-shots that have nothing to do with canon, but in terms of looking this train wreck of a story and trying to fix it they have other issues that make me not want to ship them.
I might go into why I wouldn't want Ragna x Noel in another post later, but Iâll stay on topic with Nu and Lambda.
Both are kind of boring
Lambda is basically Nu with less personality and is just a plot device for the most part.
As for Nu, even if you redeem her and keep her loving Ragna qualities without the yandere murder, it is still boring. because all her interests are Ragna she has nothing else going for her. Outside of the most generic romance shit what can you see Nu doing with him? itâs a bit upsetting because Nu seems like the type of person whoâd have Ragnaâs back and punch Jin in the dick if he insults or threatens Ragna, which is something I would LOVE in an S.O. for Ragna. But without her own interests and character, she is just......boring. And yeah you could theorize that she gains an interest outside of Ragna post-redemption but that is too broad of a statement that I canât really do anything with it.
So frankly, even IF we ignore the sister thing or do weird mental gymnastics about it, Ragna/Nu and Lambda would just be BORING as they are in canon outside of the most generic BS.
2. The connection between Nu and Lambda
Really Lambda was just made to keep Nuâs gameplay in while killing her in canon, that is a dumb excuse.
Some people like to see Lambda s Nu but redeemed temporarily but then come to CP and itâs like none of the Lambda stuff mattered. Youâd think that at least Ragna would use Lambdaâs death as an ace for his argument on using the Azure Grimoire as when he wasn't able to use it he got his shit kicked in and someone had to DIE for him because of that. But NOPE.
Then she is revived for bullshit fanservice reasons in CP Extend and is barely a thing in Story Mode
A while ago I made a post showing 3 ways they could've gotten rid of Nu that wouldâve made good character moments. I will be focusing on number 3 here: Have Nu and Lambda be the same person.
Instead of Lambda being brought back via Embryo Bullshit, have Nu and Lambda be a split personality deal. Like Nu is the CS Mu to Lambdaâs Noel. Say during Ragnaâs Arcade mode or Nuâs Arcade mode Nu slightly hesitates when about to kill Ragna, reality flickers a bit revealing Lambdaâs color scheme on Nu, showing that Lambda is within her. Nuâs soul spending time in Lambda has given her an alternate identity.
This doesn't just have to affect just Ragna, maybe Lambda remembers that Kokonoe mind-wiped her and tried to make her into a puppet thus making her no better than the villains.
During the climax, instead of Nuâs yandere rage, we have that mixed in with Lambdaâs hysterical cries begging for death due to the torture of Nuâs memories. Both side tr and kill Ragna out of rage or trying to force him to kill them in self-defense. Ragna, of course, doesnât and saves them, thus allowing Nu-Lambda to be brought back to Kokonoe and redeemed.
Maybe her hair is a mix of Nu and Lambdaâs making it a Platinum Blonde (making it a mixture of Nuâs white hair and Lambdaâs blonde hair), and the tanner skin complexion and red eyes further separate her from Noel.
3. Story roles
The first two games are fine for the most part but I have some ideas for the last two.
For the 3rd game, an idea I had was instead of Nu being the one to summon the Master Unit via stealing Noelâs power, have Amane do something important in this game instead of having him chase Carl.
he is said the be the âUzumeâ like the god who stripped and made Amaterasu come out of the cave after her sibling fallout with Susanoâo. Simply have Amane be the âherald of Amaterasuâ, possibly being a being similar to Terumi, a spirit of a god unit. maybe not AS powerful as the Sankishin, but just under. This means that Nineâs Hino Kagutsuchi would fall under this category as well. Or maybe he simply has a story connection with Noel in accepting the part of her connection to the Origin and the Azure or something.
To go off of the shipping thing above, maybe to at least use the Saya soul thing, she is struggling with her feelings towards Ragna because how much of these feelings are her own, and how many are born from an isolated siblingâs misplaced love? This is probably something a villain taunts her about
I kind of theorize that Sayaâs fear of other people instilled in her during the siblingsâ days as lab rats and Ragna protecting her made her develop an unhealthy sister crush on him, this, of course, isn't helped by the Origin (who she is based on) wanting Ragan to be her knight in shining armor.
Again, more on this later possibly.
Anyways, so Lambda can get her own feelings in order and prove that she isnât just a copy of Saya or Noel, she tries to make her own identity. maybe cutting off that large Murakumo ponytail in the process, b.c thatâs an Asian culture thing about cutting hair to symbolize the beginning of a new stage in her life. Maybe after forgiving Kokonoe, she joins Sector Seven not as a field agent like Tager, but as Kokonoeâs new assistant and friend, showing that she isn't going to be used as a tool or a weapon.
I still need to get on with drawing Lambda in a lab coat styled after her Murakumo cloak.
As for at least Nuâs connection with Ragna. It is weird because I generally either hate or have enormous contempt for almost everyone Ragna has interacted with for the pettiest reasons. For Nu, while she is crazy towards Ragna and tries to kill him, it's due to her own psychosis and insanity, which is partially Ragnaâs fault. Everyone else who gives Ragna shit is either a villain (in which case itâs fine because it is a VILLAIN, which Nu sort of counts as), or an arrogant asshole who KNOWS what they are doing for the lols. So I SORT OF give Nu a semi-pass. But like I stated above I canât see what she would be if she were redeemed, so I do feel like if she wasn't going to be used as a way to bring Lambda back, she should've been killed.
The point is, the Murakumos have a lot of potential for smaller things but they are incredibly mishandled in a lot of ways too, including showing up where they really shouldn't a lot of times. Shipping is okay so long as you are capable of doing mental gymnastics to ignore the sister shit, and donât look at a whole lot of other issues.
These are just my thoughts and maybe I didnât explain things enough, or I did it weirdly, or I have some different opinions, IDK. This series gives me a lot of feelings

Misadventures in NRC #1: Cute part 1 (Trey x Haru)
Disclaimer: I do not own Twisted Wonderland nya. I only own my OC, Haru, and the plot of this one shot nya.
P.S. I would like to apologise in advance if the canon characters are OOC nya. This is my first time writing from Twisted Wonderland Fandom nya. I would also like to apologise if there errors in my grammar nya! This was inspired from my dream earlier nya. Read, like and comment nya! Enjoy nya!
Haruâs POV
Lately, Iâve been thinking about Trey-senpai. Thatâs because he has saved me countless of times from falling off a ladder. He has caught me every single time that Iâm starting to think that heâs been following me around campus. Whenever I think about those incidents, my heart started to skip a beat. This has never ever happened before...ever! Even in my old world, never have I ever experience this feeling before!
â-ru!â
Though Iâve never experience this, Iâm fully aware that Iâve developed a crush on him. Just a teeny tiny crush...maybe.
â-aru!â
His gentle expression while carrying me in his arms...I honestly find it charming.
âPrefect Haru!â
I snapped out of my thoughts to and turned around to see my friends, Deuce and Ace.
âYouâve been staring into space lately,â Deuce said, noticing my strange behavior.
âShe even seems more distracted for these past couple of weeks or so,â Grim added, whispering loud enough for only the four of us to hear.
Only a few people knew my true gender. Itâs not my fault that Dire Crowley mistakenly assumed that Iâm a boy which he still believes that I am one. Itâs his fault for not really asking what gender am I. But I canât also blame him for doing so since I act and look like one. Now, Iâm stuck in assuming the role of a boy until I can go back to my own world. Even if I go back to my original world, Iâll still act as a boy.
Anyways, now that Iâm feeling whatever it is Iâm feeling now, I wish that I can act and look like a girl...at the very least I look decent enough...I think.
âEh! Did something or rather someone caught your eye, Prefect Haru~?â Ace asked teasingly, making Grim, whoâs on my shoulder, and Deuce look at me with interest.
âOh my! Are you starting to act like a real girl?â Deuce said in a teasing tone while smirking at me.
Knowing them, they would not stop bothering until I tell them. So I took a deep breathe and said, âIâve been thinking about Trey-senpai lately.â
âEh?!â The three reacted.
âFour eyes?!â Grim said in disbelief.
âSo the prefect of Ramshackle dorm fell for our vice dorm leader in Heartslabyul. Isnât that cute?â Ace said, snickering.
âThis really is proof that you are a girl. And here I thought you canât fall for someone,â Deuce added.
I pouted and said, âOi! I can kind of fall for someone if I wanted to! I never thought nor do I plan of doing so is all!â
Itâs true though. Even in my original world, Iâve treated all of my friends who are boys, which is makes up most of my friends, just buddies or rivals. Nothing more, nothing less. Now that I think about it, I never really have a crush nor have I fallen for anyone up till now. So how should I know how to deal with this?!
âNow that youâve mentioned it, I did see Haru staring at Four eyes at times whenever we passed by him,â Grim said with a teasing voice while the two boys snickered.
âI find Trey-senpai cute okay! I mean itâs okay if I find him cute right?!â I yelled, the two boys laughed so hard that tears started to fall from their eyes.
âI see. Whatâs so cute about me?â
âFor starters, his expression when he saves me from falling off a ladder. Iâve never been given that kind of expression before and I find it cute. Of course there is his eyes, his smile, his personality...I find it charming!â I answered.
The two boys in front of me and Grim stifled a laughter. I raised an eyebrow and asked, âWhatâs funny?â
Grim broke out laughing and answered, âLook behind you.â
So I did and I regret doing so. My eyes widened. I want to bang my head to a wall right now. It was Trey-senpai with a playful smile plastered on his face. I turn my head back to Ace and Deuce as they broke off into laughing.
âSo basically, I sort of confessed in front of him,â I said, trying to calm myself down.
âPretty much,â Ace answered while laughing.
âSo youâve heard everything I said about you?â I asked Trey-senpai, not bothering to face him due to my embarrassment.
âStarting from you admitting that you find me cute up to the part where you answered my question,â Trey answered with a playful tone.
âOh,â I said as I ready myself into a running position, âGrim, hold on tight on my sleeve.â
âHuh? What do you mean by thaaaat?! Wah!!â I basically ran until weâve reached to our dorm.
Third POV
âI canât believe she just did that!â Ace continued to laugh.
âI mean you canât blame her for doing what she did. That was way too embarrassing. I would have also done that if that happened to me,â Deuce said as he already calmed himself down.
Trey looks at the direction where Haru and Grim went and chuckled, âThatâs an interesting turn of events. I wonder what will happen next.â

DRAKE THE DILF!!!
  ********************************************************************************
The Duke of Valtoria gives a deep chuckle as he studies the screen that shows the photographs of him for this interview. He points at the photograph that will become our chosen cover and says with his face blushing, 'My wife will frame that one.'
I look at the photograph and avert my eyes. It's a good picture of the Duke of Valtoria. It's completely different to most stiff upper lipped Dukes who have been our interview subjects before - for one thing, he is standing in a swimming pool with a white t-shirt that has gone see through, showing off his broad chest and muscles. He is the complete opposite of what you imagine a Duke to look like and I have to say that the change is very much welcome.
He's wearing a denim shirt now and his hair has been dried. We sit down at the bar by the hotel pool and he orders two coffees for us.
Drake Walker has been the Duke of Valtoria for five years. In this time, he has married the woman of his dreams, become a father to two children and set up a mental health campaign which has exploded into something much bigger than he anticipated - more on this later. He has had a busy five years and I wonder how he feels.
'I feel really good,' he tells me with a warm smile. 'Genuinely really good. I finally feel comfortable in my own skin which has been a long time coming, believe me.âÂ
Iâm meeting him today to discuss the expansion of his mental health campaign, Mind over Matter. What started as a small campaign to raise awareness of mental health in men has now switched up a gear and is being made into a registered charity.Â
In case you missed it (have you been living under a rock?) Mind over Matter is a mental health campaign which involved Drake, his friends and men in Cordonia going on outdoor activities. What was mocked as simply being a glorified 'boys weekend' was suddenly praised when Drake had the idea to Vlog their activities. As the men trekked up mountains, abseiled, kayaked etc, they opened up and started talking about their worries, fears and hopes. It became a safe space for men who felt like they couldn't share feelings. Maxwell Beaumont admitted that he still thought about his mother who passed away when he was ten years old, but he didn't want to burden his brother. Drake told him to be honest because 'you are brothers, you're blood. Share the load.' As they talked, a charity donation line was set up so viewers could donate money to various mental health charities. It became a huge deal and it was all the brainchild of Drake Walker. Did he see this coming?
'Never in a million years,' he answers honestly. 'But now it's happened? I want to go bigger. I want it to become one of the main charities in Cordonia. If there's a guy out there struggling with depression, anxiety, alcoholism, anything, I want him to know he can contact Mind over Matter so he can speak to a qualified health professional and get the help he needs. I don't want anyone else to feel as alone as I did.'
I ask him to elaborate. He smiles. 'Growing up in court, I felt like an outcast. I hated everyone and they acted like I was the shit on their shoe. I built up walls around myself - no, scratch that, I built a fucking fortress - and I didn't let anyone in. But it all changed when I met Camille.. She basically saved my life.'
I've met Camille a handful of times and she's always been warm and kind. She looks like the type of woman you can share a bottle of wine with and chat about men. Drake let's out a deep laugh. 'Oh my god, she is! If you ask her to do that, she would do it. She's always up to talk.'
I imagine she has played a part in making Drake more vocal about his emotions. He nods eagerly. 'Absolutely. When we first met, I was such a dick to her. Thing was, I always found myself watching her, wanting to be part of her conversations but I stopped myself.'
Why?
He looks at me seriously. 'Because I felt like I wasn't worthy. Trust me, when people treat you like you're the shit on their shoes, you start to believe it. Why would this amazing woman waste her time talking to me? So I tried to hate her but couldn't. She took the time to talk to me, joke around. She broke down those walls I built and I'm forever grateful to her.'
Drake is keen to stress that he forces himself to be open about his feelings now. 'If I don't, I'm a hypocrite. I am the figurehead of a mental health charity. If I can't discuss how I'm feeling, then how can I preach to everyone else?'
I ask if it takes work. He nods. 'Every day.'
I decide to move the conversation onto something lighter. I want to know about his kids. Are they different?
He grins, happy to be a father. 'Well, Luna is a baby so it's hard to tell, but she is certainly a different baby compared to how Lily was. Luna is so quiet. She observes everything with these big round eyes, like everything is a wonder to her, and I constantly catch myself thinking baby girl, if I could just be in your head for one minute.. '
He goes quiet with a dopey smile on his face. He then shakes his head. 'They both have my smirk though.'
I ask to see the smirk.
He smirks.
Oh my. The Smirk makes me melt (it deserves capital letters).
Drake leans forward and whispers conspiratorially, 'My wife loves my smirk.'
I ask what family life is like. What is a day in the life entail?
'Usually, Lily wake us up when the sun hasn't even risen yet and screams IT'S MORNING TIME! She will usually be carrying her sister. Somehow, Lily's managed to work out how to unhinge the crib which is actually terrifying..'
Secret genius?
Drake chuckles. 'I think she has plans for world domination. She's only five and already, she's got the mind maps and dastardly plots..'
I smile at his easy humour.
'Camille refuses to get a nanny so she will look after Luna while I do the school drop off. I come home, take Luna, Camille goes to her appointments, she comes homes, we switch and I start work.' He stops then looks at me steadily. 'Jesus, this is such a boring article. I'm sorry. I'm a dad now, my life is just nappies, lack of sleep and wondering if my daughter's poo is a natural colour.'
I will be honest here. I've met Drake a few times and he used to be.. Well, he was always friendly, but he was never this forthcoming. Now he opens up more, jokes around, smiles a lot. I ask if Mind over Matter has helped him.
'It has, yes. But also I'm just happy. I feel content, like I'm right where I'm supposed to be, you know? I have an amazing wife, two beautiful daughters and I have a purpose. I'm more sure of myself now.'
Now he seems to have matured, what kind of dad is he? I imagine he's quite serious and overprotective.
He laughs. 'Yes, I'm very overprotective. God, Lily came home the other day and showed me her collection of leaves. Yes, leaves. Apparently, in her class, if a boy has a crush on you, he gifts a girl a leaf and vice versa. Leaves have become a sort of declaration of love. And she has four! FROM THE SAME GUY!'
I tease that Lily has a boyfriend. Drake shudders. 'Don't push me.'
He then grins. 'Clearly, he's got good taste.'
Is he serious then?
'Hell no! I'm honestly a really fun dad. Am I embarrassing? Maybe.. I do Iove a dad joke. But I take part in Lily's tea parties, I wear a plastic crown and everything. Sometimes, if we're pushing the boat out, we pour chocolate milk into the teacups.' He smiles again.' Tea party days are the best days.'
I ask if he can see himself having a son. He bites his lip thoughtfully.
'No.. I used to. When I allowed myself to start dreaming about raising a family, sure I wanted a little Drake Jr. But nah, I like having girls. They're cute and they're miniature versions of their mom. How can I not want that?'
He clearly adores his wife. You see paparazzi pictures of them and they always look so close. Often, Drake would be shielding her from the cameras or taking her hand to help her out of cars. 'I'm a gent,' Drake shrugs. 'I'm also of the opinion happy wife, happy life. She's my priority. Always has been, always will be.'
I ask what's new for the Duchess. She is very engaged with her duties and seems to aways be visiting children's hospitals or promoting charities.
'She fits into her role brilliantly,' Drake tells me. 'Given she was a commoner before, and an American one at that, she's really settled into being a Duchess. I was in awe. She takes the time to get to know her public, she never complains, she cares. I'm so glad that we both got to learn our roles at the same time. She kept me feeling positive.'
Did he ever think negative?
'I always worried I was failing as a Duke,' he admits. 'I thought I wasn't doing anything. I felt like everyone could see right through me.'
Imposter syndrome?
'Yes!' he cries. 'Definitely. It took me a while to find my feet.'
The interview is beginning to wrap up. Since the past five years have been a whirlwind, is he expecting the same to happen for the next five? He is launching Mind Over Matter as a charity after all. He gives me a warm smile. 'Honestly? Once it's launched, I'm taking it easy. I'm taking my family camping for a weekend. I've got it all planned. I know I go camping a lot for Mind Over Matter so you'd think I'd be sick of it but honestly, I don't. I love being outside and if it means I get to have fun with my children, teach them new things and spend time with my wife, I'm happy. But the next five years? You can't plan it. Everything that's happened to me in my life so far, I never imagined ever happening to me. But I'm excited. So fucking excited.'
I can tell you this, reader. Drake has found himself on steady ground. Long may it continue.
