My head canon for Ichigo: he's been dead since Urahara cut his soul chain, his body was prepared so it wouldn't decay/he could use it as a gigai and it would age. He should have been unable to go back to it at the end of the manga given his power levels, thus realising his dead from the start status.

But also what a reveal would that have been, to know you were dead and in bought time from the moment you decided to go to the afterlife to save your best friend (who's also been dead from the beginning). You chose her world (that's also yours) and you didn't now.

Also Urahara being a creep and doing Ichigo body as a gigai and not telling a soul.

I already know I'm not, but I need to prove a point.

Here's the story:

My cousin SA'd one of my sister and I when we were kids (10+14 respectively, he was ~17). Us cousins previously spent all summers together at my Babcia's until that year.

He is my mother's godson.

The family said we were being dramatic and when confronted a few years later, cousin said he "didn't remember," which is just so infuriating, and such a weird thing to say.

The whole thing got swept up, like whatever. The don't talk about it vibes were strong. Ruined a lot of shit. Lots of other problematic things going on in the family financially (like foreclosure, a significant death, etc.).

Sister sent cousin a "forgiveness letter" that helped her a lot; good for her, but I'm not her. He and his family were invited to her wedding, they attended. My fiance and I kept him away from her with glares from the head table until he and his new wife left early.

My my mom went to his wedding, as his godmother.... (she's now refusing to go to another sister's wedding, cus it's gay and therefore sinful, so... priorities, I guess).

Years later, his wife finds the "forgiveness letter" and says she doesn't like my sister. No reason. How do we know this? Well, the aunties, they do the gossip. Round and around, all 8 of them. His mother was crying at my sister's baby shower and the aunts plied it out of her I guess. Wine does that, you gotta be careful around the wine aunties.

Last year, his sister (my oldest cousin, we were super close once upon a time) got married. I flew back alone for funsies, it's going great, haven't seen my extended family in a long time, meeting my littlest sister's girlfriend, hanging out with older sister who lives on the opposite coast of me, generally having a good time. Anyway, cousin starts walking toward my sister (my fellow middle) looking like he's gonna talk to her, I glare at him while my sister's husband steps around so he's blocking the way, still chatting to her. Cousin avoids us the rest of the night, turned right around and walked back to the parking lot, already drunk. This was a very proud moment for me. I texted my fiance and he was also very proud. In line for food, sister revealed she's forgiven him for her own sake (she's very religious), but maybe was kind of peer pressured by my mom into inviting that family to her wedding, or else people would talk. I said they're not invited to mine, and she said good.

Despite specific request NOT to provide cousin's mom with my new address, my mother still gave it. So I still get that practically blank Christmas card from their family every year and it feels like such a betrayal on my mom's part, and such a taunting bullshit tactic on theirs.

Anyway, I told my mom they're not invited to my wedding and she said that's not fair, the whole family or no one, you can't pick. And I said I'll send them a courtesy invitation, an un-invitation, that very explicitly states that they are not invited, but allows them to make their own excuses and still be part of the family gossip about getting an invitation and deciding to go (cus they'd all have to travel to us for once). The RSVP card is included, the decline pre-selected. This has pissed off my mother and frankly, I do not care.

(If you're wondering where my father is in all this, well, he cannot travel out of state to a wedding, because who would feed the dogs?)

Episode 18, in which they finally arrive at Mosk! …Which just got nuked, and it looks like Proxy One is there in the blast…? Re-l seems to know what rapture is but of course she doesn’t know what’s going on in Romdo

Raul still being alive is one of the biggest shocks, and he’s now openly speaking with the collective, and going on about how bringing in Vince was a mistake

He probably just means the proxies in general but wow this is very true, Proxy One left them and the Regent has been desiring to meet that god ever since…. (Though I guess if he knows of the Mosk invasion he may know they needed her as a replacement…?)

The contrasts between him and Daedalus are becoming all the more clear… Daedalus is the one who drowns in those soothing waters, while Raul destroys and resists.

Raul will NOT seek a god, but rather change the citizens themselves to be able to live without them! And on the other hand we have Daedalus who has just cloned a proxy, which is to say, made a god (and when she gains wings he even says as much)

And they actually let him try, but seem to think he’ll eventually know their same despair….

When Re-l and Pino reach Monad’s room, Re-l finds it familiar, claiming it’s like her grandfather’s but I think there’s a second meaning of her being a partial Monad clone… especially with how she sits where Monad sits and imagines what she must have seen.

But I do think this is a bit confusing, I think these must be Ergo’s memories, and Monad was entrusting them to this autoreiv cause it would be too much for her alone…? And then she gives Ergo her pendant which can open the door (Vince def has hers it’s number XIII) but One kills him first and leaves a message to draw them back to Romdo… One is crying when he does though… Ergo IS him too… But also Ergo is a part of One so he doesn’t really have memories so are they One’s memory’s that Ergo had…? Amnesia also speaks of the divided becoming one which Re-l thinks means Vince and Ergo.. oh and one of the memories he talks about seems to be the meeting with Monad (who else would “her” refer to…?) and Monad seems to love Ergo but not One so… I think it is his memory…? Awakening is written on the wall too, so I wonder if the initial message was from proxy one, who was seen in Romdo at the start and now beckons them back…

We got confirmation Daedalus was mainly working on the revival of Monad, which he did claim to already be trying with the power outages he caused (but his own goals were of course Real, a perfect Monad clone) but Raul tells him to prioritize changing them on a cellular level to not need to rely on a proxy anymore…. But of course he isn’t really thrilled with it and later says outright he knew it wouldn’t work, though he’s technically under Raul… so it just results in a huge swathe of the population dying! Daedalus is resigned to his fate and already got what he wanted so it doesn’t matter to him.

And finally the big reveal that he has a clone, which Raul calls out for being exactly what she is- a replacement. But Daedalus is clinging to her and so to him no she’s not a replacement but rather will be the real thing. I like the nod to Ariadne with her thread and people have also pointed out the red string of fate as well.

Bold words from a man who nuked a place over one guy, but I mean he’s right. Raul went mad faster but Daedalus’ madness goes far deeper…

THIS SCENE LIVES RENT FREE IN MY HEAD CONSTANTLY…. A relatively mundane action made deeply disturbing by the context… just. The way he couldn’t stand losing Re-l (who isn’t even dead! She just left his side) so he used Monad to make a clone of her, one he is personally raising to be his ideal Real. The fact that although she grows fast she still starts as a young child makes it even creepier, knowing his feelings for her. And that he’s telling this young girl she’s not to smile at any other man cause she’s all for him is just. Holy shit. Daedalus you absolute creep (affectionate) knowing his feelings just… gives it this uncomfortable layer of eroticism and well. Yeah I’m enjoying it greatly

I do that like we have this back to back with Raul overlooking the city and still hallucinating Vince (proxy one’s interference again?) and claiming him to be a symbol of what they’re up against. Daedalus and Raul’s respective madness, Daedalus with his new god and Raul who will fight so they don’t need such gods.

And Re-l and Vince with One and Monad’s pendants and a sign to return to Romdo, all our players are set and it’s building to the finale
