Finally dropping a ref sheet for my yuusona, say hi to Yuu/Ebi

undercut if you want to hear me yap about her a bit

Yuu, or Ebi is a giant monster shrimp (non-magic user). Where she came from or what her homeland is currently unknown. But it's safe to assume she comes from a place populated by mostly sea monsters like her.

Despite being a monster (maybe similar to Grim?), Ebi seems to have a more calming and sensible personality when compared to Grim, only reacting strongly when something seriously bad is going to happen (ex: someone almost fucking dying) or when she's over-exaggerating to just get a reaction out of someone. Surprisingly, when she arrived to NRC, she had a more irritated reaction knowing full well she was somewhere she didn't belong, and complained under her breath about "missing work and getting family worried for nothing". In other words she seemed to have known she wasn't in any true danger when she arrived, thankfully. Ebi also appears to be naturally caring for others, immediately taking in with living with Grim at Ramschackle (and eventually becoming his caretaker basically), and helping Ace and Deuce out with whatever issues they're having without hesitation (issues being either preventing them from almost being expelled or just help with simple homework). This soon enough became an on-going thing with majority of the students, and according to Ebi it's because;

"I grew up in a large family and have always taken care of my younger siblings. It's in my duty to help and take care of those who need a hand to come pick them up from the ground, even if they didn't ask for it."

It didn't help that Ebi was already older than most students there, being closer to Leona's age, she started to view and treat a lot of students as if they were her younger siblings. And like it was meant to be, this quickly made her earned the title of "Big Sis Ebi". Making it known that she was someone who the students could trust and come to for both help and comfort. This meant there were a lot of visits at Ramschackle, (especially from the ones who overblotted GULPS) but fortunately, this just made Ebi feel more at home as it reminded her of her actual siblings back at her homeland, so she doesn't mind these visits (Grim on the other hand not so much).

Also yes, just like any older sibling, this does mean Ebi started to mess and tease the ones she viewed as younger siblings a lot. It ain't a true sibling bond without at least a wee bit of sibling rivalry 👌 (Rip Ace he's the most common victim to this).

ANYWAY, okay enough yapping, when I first created Ebi she was just a silly gag I made when I first got into twst.

But when I actually started to put effort into her I at first didn't know what to do since most yuusonas I know of were shipped with other characters. But I didn't want Ebi to have anything romantic with any character, I decided what better way than to basically make her the older sister figure everyone comes to when they need help? I thought it's both funny that characters are looking for comfort from a literal giant fucking shrimp, but also twst characters genuine just seem to lack a lot of comfort because Jesus fucking Christ all of you need therapy and a hug, no matter if it's by a shrimp or not 😭.

'This is Slurm, a bacteria slime dude who works two jobs. One at an island resort casino and the other as a mercenary. He's barely scraping by and the pressure of maintain the two jobs he has- Its not long until his "chill guy" persona snaps.'

Im debating to make him an ex-mercenary who turned assassin after something big happened to him! Or maybe a secret assassin pretending to be his chill guy at the resort, so he can strike on his victims when they least expect it! He's still a work in progress :D

Personally- I feel like these designs live up to the expectations I have for myself when it comes to a circus.. with darker intentions. Instead of bright colors everything is a bit muted- (besides Leshy, he’s a baby)

ToyBox is a Cult of the Lamb Circus AU where the lamb (Emery) trapped the Bishops and clears their memory of their previous lives! It’s mainly a Narilamb centric story- but there’s a bit of everyone for everybody to enjoy <3

For the individuals- I will be adding a bit of info on their stories so far, their stage names, and just- inspo behind the characters \o/

Going from youngest to oldest here-

Leshy literally has the mentality of a child. He’s the young one out of all of the circus performers. He yearns to be in the spotlight just like the rest of his family, but he’s always pushed aside.

Emery gave him the name “Pipsqueak” because of his size.. He doesn’t know that she caused that. Out of everyone- he’s the only performer to wear bright colors. (Mainly to show off his childish personality-)

When it came to writing Leshy- I wanted to focus on the result of childhood trauma, and Leshy is an embodiment of that. His behavior is to make up of the fact that there’s something clearly wrong- but in order to protect himself, he hides it away and thinks of everything else.

Heket has it rough- her mouth is stapled shut and she’s a greeter?? Girl- pick a struggle. She tries to be open to everyone, but she often has a hard time with it. Her relationship with her family is strong- and that’s all that matters, she just needs to know that they’re safe.

“Nobody.” listened to Heket when she had suspicions. “Nobody” listened to Heket when she raged about Shamura’s injury. “Nobody” listened to Heket when she called out Emery for mistreating her family. “Nobody” listened to her. And that’s why she’s nobody. Because nobody will ever listen. Emery made sure of it.

It’s obvious what I based Heket off of- when it comes to abuse, there’s the ones who take it silently or are forced to be silent. Which was what happened to Heket, she knows what’s going on, but she cannot say it- and even if she did.. will anyone listen to her? Probably not.

Narinder does a little bit of everything- he has no solid role in the circus since Emery makes sure he is near at all times. Sometimes it’s annoying.. oh- it’s so annoying.

Figment- It’s allll a figment of his imagination. There’s nothing wrong in the circus. Nothing at all! And if there was.. it isn’t real, it’s in his head.. Emery always drills that into him.. it’s not real.. these ideas of having another life- it’s fake.

Narinder is very easy to figure out- he’s based on victims in general. How easy it is to fall for manipulation- and easy it is to try and stick around instead of causing anything else.. a sad reality.

Kallamar has a body and they know it. They use it sometimes- though is it desirable? Nope- She often changes her form since she can freely stuff or take out. It helps whenever the gazes get too much.

Minx. A sexually playful woman who often causes trouble. The complete opposite of Kallamar. In fact- she hates the stares, she yearns to have it be drawn away- and it’s not like she tries to bring in the eyes of men. She’s just given outfits to match his routines..

Reason why I associate Kallamar with “I’m not bad, I’m just drawn that way.” They are. Kallamar is not a hoe unlike my other AU- The idea of her is the way women are treated in modern society. Male gaze is horrible- and subjecting a body to such light is just- eugh.

Shamura- the sweet little storyteller who can barely remember their name. They just want to tell their stories and not have to worry about freaking out.

Seeker. They kept seeking for information. They kept digging and digging until it landed them somewhere they shouldn’t have been. Emery made sure they would forget, made sure that they would power off a lot more..

Now, Shamura is very special to me for this AU. A good majority of this AU being surrounded by abuse from aspects I have experienced in life. Shamura represents abuse in general. Just the fear of speaking out because of the backlash from the other, something I know of very well. They dissociate to draw away from the pain- from everything. Forgetting to protect themself.

Emery is the host, the leader of it all. She needs energy to survive- devotion. which- here devotion is given to her through cheers from the crowd. And without performers- she wouldn’t have a crowd.

Ringmaster.. it’s very self explanatory- Emery is in control of it all. Of the entire business and of what happens. Her role doesn’t stop off stage… it never does.

Emery is a character that can’t be forgiven, her actions weigh the amount of positives she could have and it sucks. Cause it’s easy to want to love her- but you can’t because of her history. Doesn’t that sound familiar? She’s basically based off people who know they’re toxic, yet never change.

Anyways, AU ramblings under the cut...

Anyways, I was hit with motivation the other day and Narinder was my victim. I love when characters clothes and accessories change as the person themself changes.

So, I'm doing that! In the first pic, I made a little lineup/ref of Narinder through his years in the cult. The first is when he's first indoctrinated, he barely tolerates the Lamb and others. The second one is when he accepts that being "mortal" (he doesn't age but y'know) isn't going to change soon. The third one is when he gets more settled and gets along with the Lamb and his siblings. The last one is when he believes in the Lamb's original cause and realizes his feelings for them aren't platonic...

The other two are just a practice doodle and a fun doodle.

Aziraphale and Trauma

[Just a note that I initially wrote this in response to this post: https://www.tumblr.com/theangelyouknew/732357015604756480?source=share&ref=_tumblr which is full of insightful info. I'm reposting my response here with some minor edits so it's easier to find in tags.]

This is something I actually find interesting within the fandom, because there seems to be this weird divide in fandom when it comes to Aziraphale.

See, I love Aziraphale. I think he's an amazing and well nuanced character, but a lot of the time fandom boils him down into this really simple version of himself. This happens both with people who dislike him and claim he's a bad person as well as with those who want to soften him up and make him more palatable. Aziraphale isn't the only one who has trouble with black and white thinking here!

Things like Coffee Theory remove Aziraphale's agency because the thought of Aziraphale doing something to hurt Crowley deliberately is something they can't stomach. If Aziraphale is acting under some kind of major magical influence, it means that it's possible to brush over the fact that he can - and has - hurt Crowley in the past and it certainly hasn't always been accidental.

There's a lot of Psychology I could touch on here, but it's honestly such a complicated topic that I don't really feel I can do it justice attached to a completely different topic.

But one thing I do want to touch on a bit is how Aziraphale asserts control in his own life via his connection with Crowley, and that touches on something equally complicated, which is something that's probably hard to understand.

Abuse victims are often manipulative.

I don't mean this at all as some kind of slight or insult. I've been an abuse victim myself and it's one reason I know it's true.

Fandom talks a lot about Crowley's trauma and he's got loads, to be sure. I think of that meme about "this bad boy can fit a lot of trauma" and it's very true. I've even seen people mention that Aziraphale has a different kind of Trauma than Crowley, which is also true.

What I haven't seen is someone addressing that the type of religious trauma is a form of CPTSD. CPTSD or "Complex PTSD" is a very specific form of PTSD. PTSD is characterized as being the result of a traumatic event - Crowley's fall, for example, is a good example of PTSD and I can go into that at some point. CPTSD is different because it's not a singular event, it's the result of being in a constant high stress situation. A lot of abuse victims - especially those abused by parental figures or significant others - have this form of PTSD.

A good way to see the difference is in comparing how they relate to their trauma. When Crowley thinks he's lost Aziraphale in S1, it sends him into a spiral. But importantly we see that this traumatic event is causing Crowley to go back to another traumatic event in time, triggering his memories of his fall. This emphasizes how much Crowley's fall defines his trauma. We rarely see him experiencing trauma at the hands of Hell, as he's mostly allowed freedom to handle his job on earth the way he wants.

https://cptsdfoundation.org/ defines CPTSD as "the results of ongoing, inescapable, relational trauma. Unlike Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Complex PTSD typically involves being hurt by another person. These hurts are ongoing, repeated, and often involving a betrayal and loss of safety."

In humans, this is caused by having no sense of safety in key moments of development. It strips away sense of self, sense of worth and really any agency. We even see the angels using direct gaslighting tactics on Aziraphale in S2, which I'm surprised doesn't get mentioned more often: When they come to the bookshop looking for Gabriel, they mention Gabriel and then almost immediately when Aziraphale asks "you were looking for Gabriel", Uriel outright says a line that goes something like "Did we say we were looking for Gabriel?", leading Aziraphale to fumble and try to remember if they did, in fact, say that at some point (they did).

So, one big thing to know about CPTSD and this kind of abuse related trauma is that learning to lie and be manipulative is often what people have to do to survive. Children with abusive parents will learn how to be manipulative in order to get what they need or avoid losing things they need.

We see this with Aziraphale, time and time again. He could just ASK Crowley for things he wants. A lot of people point out that he could ask and that Crowley would probably give in to him most of the time anyway. But that's not how it works in an abusive home. Instead, Aziraphale maneuvers Crowley into situations where Crowley is forced to give him what he needs or wants.

His lack of agency, as a result of his CPTSD, is also why he needs to be worked into making decisions that he already knows - or at least suspects - are right. That's why they have their little dance every time Crowley has to talk Aziraphale into something by finding the right way to frame it so it makes sense with Aziraphale's strict rule structure. These rules exist as a defensive mechanism too. Having rules makes it easier to figure out how to avoid being hurt and Aziraphale cannot simply step outside the rules because it's Not Safe. Not even with someone he trusts as much as Crowley.

The entire apology dance scene stands out for a few reasons. Everything Aziraphale does in the entire scene is an act that allows him to take control of the situation. He's already won, so to speak, because Crowley is back and Crowley is going to do what he wants. The apology is unnecessary on every level.

This post talks about how uncomfortable Crowley has to be sharing a space with Gabriel. Gabriel is with the abusive team, whether or not he was directly involved with Crowley's fall. Crowley also harbors a severe distress and mistrust of Gabriel because of Gabriel's attempts to destroy Aziraphale, the most important person to Crowley. But it's worth noting that Aziraphale is uncomfortable too.

Another good indicator of how stressed Aziraphale is with all this is that he doesn't eat ANYTHING when Gabriel is in the shop. The only food he consumes in modern era is when he's in the Bentley which is a "safe" space. Gabriel constantly hounded Aziraphale over eating and despite offering Gabriel hot chocolate, we don't see him partaking himself. He does briefly drink to demonstrate how "drinking tea" works for Muriel, but he doesn't seem to drink from his cup at all after demonstrating.

The bookshop is also Aziraphale's safe space, his ONLY safe space - Crowley still technically has the Bentley, and honestly I feel like Aziraphale wanting to borrow the Bentley is actually partially because he needs to get away from Gabriel and the Bentley is the only place that feels safe for him at the moment. Shax ruins any illusion of safety for him, but Aziraphale is much more enthused for his trip in ep3 and a fair amount of it is because he's not trapped with Gabriel.

A small note here, as a thought occurs to me. Aziraphale asserting that the Bentley is "our car" is probably mostly for himself. He's trying to realign his thinking to make the Bentley an acceptable "safe space" for himself prior to the trip.

There is a very different relationship dynamic when it comes to Gabriel and Aziraphale because Gabriel is the constant source of Aziraphale's trauma. He's Aziraphale's superior, the one he has to report to, the one who passes down his missions and his punishments. When Aziraphale takes Gabriel in, he's just invited his former abuser of over 6000 years into his safe haven. This is a hugely uncomfortable thing for an abuse survivor.

Worst of all, because Jim is, for all intents and purposes, NOT Gabriel, Aziraphale can't bring himself to lash out at his former abuser the way he wants to.

That brings us back to this apology scene.

There are two major things going on here and both of them are bad and hurtful toward Crowley. They're also both intensely unfair. I love Aziraphale but this was definitely a dick move.

Firstly: Aziraphale is using Crowley to reassert a sense of control over the situation because he is spiraling. He can't assert control over his life and his shop, which is one thing that he falls back on heavily, and that leaves him scrambling to find somewhere where he can control his situation. He makes Crowley go through this whole unnecessary apology and dance routine because it makes him feel like he has control over SOMETHING in his life right now.

Secondly: Aziraphale is also enacting his own trauma on Crowley. He's treating Crowley the way Heaven treats him. This is a direct parallel to the way Crowley terrorizes his house plants because he can't do anything to the people who actually caused his trauma. This is, obviously, wildly unfair of Aziraphale to do - and I'm fairly sure there are other small moments where Aziraphale does this in a mild way, I'd have to rewatch again.

These are both behaviors common in CPTSD caused by environments that apply this constant state of stress.

I'm not going to say it's right, or that Aziraphale isn't being a bit of a bastard in this moment - he absolutely is - but this behavior does have some obvious triggers that might be easy to overlook. It's just important to understand that Aziraphale is falling into self-preservation habits that are actively detrimental to his relationship with Crowley. It's not just the manipulation, he's also hiding things and lying to Crowley when he really shouldn't be - both things often necessary in abusive environments - but he's doing it because that's the method that he's created that works with his abusive relationship in Heaven and he's falling back on it because he feels unsafe. The trouble is, this survival tactic does not work with Crowley and actively makes things worse because it shuts down open communication entirely.

We spoke about it in dms, but an old enemy had decided to return to his old tricks after s3, using the fact that the celestials are pretty infamous for not really paying attention to rolecall and it could potentially takes literal years to notice someone missing, much less get a search party together for them, as well as the chaos of LBD's takeover distracting them. However, they hadn't accounted for the fact Wukong figured it out.

So when the parents finally noticed their kid wasn't coming home for dinner, they let out a massive commotion a certain monkey had noticed, because celestials arent the only one's losing their kids. And Wukong, being Wukong, heard about the missing kid and put himself right into the middle of the investigation... by kicking down the Emperor's door.

JE: What on the name of the Buddha!?

Wukong: I KNOW WHO STOLE THE KIDS!!!

JE: Where!?

Wukong: That's what I need your help with. I know who, not where!

Ref for the Havoc King backstory!

We consider this a "middle-season" au - since it takes place between S3 & S4. Wukong had followed Nezha to Heaven so they could deal with all the bureaucratic nightmare the Lady Bone Demon's takeover caused.

Then he hears the cries of a worried parent - a celestial child has gone missing, and the higher-ups are dragging their feet on the matter. Thousands of years on, and the Celestials are still bad at noticing when one of their own is absent.

Wukong is concerned, but at first figures that the matter will be solved quickly once Nezha back on duty.

Except it isn't.

The Jade Emperor should have known something was truly wrong when Sun Wukong burst through the palace doors; frenzied and crying.

MK was missing.

Not like Wukong had been during his "vacation" but geniunely Misssing.

Pigsy wasn't worried the first day since he assumed his son was tuckered out from the big fight with LBD. Later than evening, when he knocked on his son's door and didn't recieve a response, Pigsy started to panic.

He had always kept an emergency key to the space above the shop, and when he opened the door; his worst fears were confirmed.

MK wasn't in his room. It was still a little fire-damaged from when Red Son was looking for the Skeleton Key, but MK had made progress cleaning it up. So why was MK missing, but his phone and art supplies were still in his room?

Within minutes, the whole gang are up in a panic - it's ultimately Mei who tells Wukong the bad news.

Wukong was silent for a while. Scanned what seemed to be the entire city and all of Flower Fruit Mountain before shooting up into the Celestial Realm. Macaque notices Wukong's worry, and feeling a hunch, follows him.

In the throne room, Wukong nearly gets tackled by a squadron of celestial guards believing he's there on the offensive. The monkey's babbling shouts not doing him any favours. Ultimately, it is the Queen Mother that stops them from attacking.

Xiwangmu: "Stay your hand, captain." Captain of the Guard: "But your Majesty! He's clearly mad!" Xiwangmu: "He is not mad. He is worried out of his mind. His child is missing and possibly in danger. I have felt the exact same worry before."

After Wukong calms down; he manages to explain that the pattern of disappearances mirrors one from his own past.

The Demon King of Havoc.

Although a mere footnote in the "official" story - the Havoc King had been a far more formidable foe than history remembered. Wukong's defeat against him had not been easy in the slightest - nearly taking the monkey's life before he was even crowned King.

The Havoc King managed to attain nearly total control of the Realms not by defeating his enemies, but by keeping their children in his grasp. Even dear Nezha, then newly immortal and newly recognised grandson of the Jade Emperor, had fallen victim to the fiend's clutches.

Those who were kidnapped by the Havoc King's forces had since grown up or moved on, not caring to think of that dark chapter of their long lives for even a moment. And since no one "major" had been permanently lost during the fiend's reign, the Heavens, Seas, and Underworld were quick to sweep it under the rug. Mainly out of embarrassment. Only the Monkeys of Alolai and the Dragon Kings dared fear the Havoc King's return.

So when Wukong caught the scent of the Havoc King once more, he nearly went feral with fear. The Stalwart Generals are summoned to the Jade Palace to confirm the King's suspicions. Having survived under the fiend's cruel rule for the ten years Wukong was away studying, they confirmed with 199% certainty that the scent and chi present at many of the crime scenes was in fact the thought-to-be-dead Demon King of Havoc.

Macaque recognises the smell also, having been uncomfortably close to it at one point. He also brings up that the Dragon Kings had lied in their report on Wukong "stealing" the Staff and his armour to protect their then-hostage Egg from retribution in case the monkey demon failed to defeat the Havoc.

As part of the shadow monkey's "community service" (he did wreck the heck out of Ao Guang's palace), Macaque is ordered to act as the lead scout for the missing children. His powers giving him an advantage in collecting information.

Meanwhile, as a certain Red-haired demon prince seeks out information on his extended family, he stumbles into the clutches of an unknown foe.

The son of the Demon Bull King and the estranged daughter of the Jade Emperor will make a fine hostage for the Havoc King...

Gods forbid if Wukong and/or Macaque have cubs of their own that have gone missing...

Finally finished these. This some sketches I have for a TMAxDC crossover idea based on the fic All You Have (Is Your Fire) by ambrosed. My idea slightly veers off from their’s and god if you thought my artist commentary on the DPxDC post was long you’re in for a fucking treat with this one bc I have so many ideas. Like 13 more paragraphs of text available under the cut

I’m going to be slightly referencing the plot of the fic. It’s only 6k words, go read it if you want context.

My idea is that when Tim picks up the knife he gets ‘marked’ by The Web for consumption. So he slowly starts to get more and more paranoid over the course of trying to figure out where the blade came from and whose blood is on it. Jonathan Sims season 2 sort of paranoia. It ends up boiling over and he suffers a mental breakdown and goes completely off-the-grid from the batfam. He runs into Jon by complete accident and Jon (feeling slightly guilty) offers him a deal, binding him to The Beholding, and Tim becomes a sort of apprentice to him, which keeps him out of the clutches of the spider (it’s ambiguous as to whether or not this was The Web’s actual plan). 

So Tim starts helping Jon behind the scenes, he has complete access to all of Jon’s memories and they have a sort of mental link so that Tim can act as an extension of him. Together they start focusing on Gotham and analyzing the effect that the introduction of the fears has had (and will end up having) on the rogues gallery. Jason and Jon end up having a major (one-sided) rivalry throughout this with Jason really not happy about this guy who knows all his secrets, running around with this other guy who also knows his secrets. Eventually Jon and co. have to pay attention to him when he starts unknowingly courting the horrible combination of both The Desolation & The Slaughter. There’s a lot of emphasis on the parallels between Jason and the Joker in this since, at least in the comics, they were pretty similar at times. I’m sorry to the Jason Todd fans, I love him too but man he is just a truly awful person during a majority of his run as The Red Hood. I’m not going with the most brutal version of him, but I think it’s worth it to have that context because I’m not going to sugarcoat his character either. Anyway, while this is happening Annabelle weaves strings into the bat computer and clocktower and learns about the Court of Owls from their files (she’s not part of the beholding, so she actually has to go look for her info so she can weave her webs). She ends up taking over the Court of Owls (it’s a council of individuals pulling secretly strings in Gotham, that’s literally her thing).

There’s more to this plot but I’m saving it for later. But here’s my rogue gallery breakdown:

Victor Zsasz, Firefly, & Killer Moth

I’m starting out with the easy ones. These are extremely straightforward: Slaughter, Desolation, Corruption. I’m using the Earth-46 Vincent Strasbourg III (Moth-er) character [Batman: Gargoyle of Gotham #2] for the Killer Moth design. I don’t believe he’s actually Killer Moth (just sort of an in-universe equivalent) but Rafael Grampá fucking knocked it out of the park with this one and I want to bring him into my story. Maybe he starts as the regular killer moth and slowly morphs into the Moth-er version. The refs I’m for Victor Zsasz and Firefly (Ted Carson) come from the [Batman: Streets of Gotham #4] and [Nightwing Annual Vol 3 #1]’s respective comic interiors. 

Harley Quinn

Harley gets nabbed by a pseudo-version of the distortion. My theory is that while “Helen” was killed in the original world, the distortion as a whole is still an entity created by The Spiral; Helen, Michael, etc. those are just the “skins” that it wears. So the distortion is sort of re-formed in this new world and Harley ends up becoming its first victim. Bc of how well suited I think Harley is personality-wise for the distortion (way more than Helen & Michael), I think they have a sort of symbiosis where she’s still herself but slightly more.. uh… well: More. Anyway her doors just look like standard metal, emergency access doors and her hallways are just winding factory/maintenance hallways, since it’s Gotham. 

Edward Nygma (The Riddler)

Eddie gets nabbed pretty early on by Annabelle. He’s described a lot in the Prime Earth comics as a super genius (actually thinking back on this, this is the case for most continuities that he’s in, but I digress) and he’s ridiculously manipulative and competent. So yeah, he’s getting nabbed by The Web. I’m using the Gotham TV (unmasked) look for him, I don’t have any strong preferences on his outfit (I have a feeling that once he joins the web he stops doing public appearances as The Riddler). It’s sort of meant to be ambiguous whether he’s truly on board with this or if he’s just resigned to his new role in The Spider’s Web. 

Victor Fries (Mister Freeze)

Victor, unfortunately, serves as Martin’s first meal on his journey to fully embracing The Lonely. Victor’s actions are heavily motivated by a desire to cure his wife. Depending on the continuity, this is either a task that is tentatively possible or completely impossible. I like the idea of it being a hopeless task that he undertakes out of pure desperation and an inability to cope with the death of his wife. He’s unable to process it properly and instead turns to villainy on his doomed quest to get the things he thinks he needs to save her. So yeah, he’s the perfect victim for The Lonely. Martin collects him in the end. 

Jonathan Crane (Scarecrow)

The 2020 releases for dc comics fucking ate man, so many good designs. I’m using his look in the 2021 Infinite Frontier #0 (Batman) comic for this. I love it so much, it’s way more scary than his usual getup and the fear-toxin-needle finger attachments are a super grisly accessory. Tomeu Morey and Jorge Jiménez were the respective colorist and inker for the panel I’m referencing (wiki link) and they did a really good job on it. Anyway, Crane’s whole thing is fear, not any specific subset of fear. I don’t think he’d ever be a fear avatar bc I don’t think he would ever limit himself to a single aspect. And I don’t think he’d fall victim to being a meal for any fear either bc let’s face it, fear gods would love this fucking guy. 

You’re gonna learn real quick that I have Strong Opinions™️ about fear avatars & feeding and my primary belief is that fear gods, being created by and fueled by the existence and prevalence of certain fears, create avatars to stir up the pot. If someone is experiencing fear, the fear gods have already collected that fear, it’s already feeding them. It’s the role of an Avatar of the Fears to artificially create more fear, to feed the fire. That is literally what Scarecrow does with his fear toxins. Those people he’s targeting are already afraid of certain things, but he forces those fears directly to the surface and makes them experience them much more vividly and viscerally. (I’m also of the firm opinion that there is no way to “passively” feed the fears, you either feed them by expanding their reach or they feed on you). Fear gods would fucking love this guy bc he’s literally feeding the concept of fear. Keep in mind that in the show, Leitner & Jon both state that the separation of the fears into separate distinct entities is a shortsighted way of thinking. They’re all just aspects of the same entity. The aspect of the web has slightly more prominence, but they’re all in-effect bound to each other. Despite the petty battle lines drawn by their avatars, the fears are all inextricably linked together and they cannot be separated. Scarecrow is, at any point in his campaign, feeding a multitude of fear aspects. They’re gonna keep this guy around, and so is Jon since he now understands how this ecosystem works.

The Slaughter & The Spiral 

Pamela Isley (Poison Ivy), Oswald Cobblepot (The Penguin), Selina Kyle (Catwoman), & Waylon Jones (Killer Croc)

These are the official unaffiliated ones, they don’t get nabbed by any fears. Being a fear avatar puts an inherent priority on humans over other things (bc you need to feed from them) and that doesn’t work well with Pamela’s whole ethos of prioritizing the planet and its wellbeing. I don’t think she’d become a fear avatar and I don’t think she’d get killed by one either. Oswald’s immunity is more due to the fact that I found him to be very endearing in Gotham (TV), he just looks like such a wet cat of a man so he gets a pass. Selina is a thief, not a master manipulator or a violent criminal. She doesn’t strike me as the kind of person that would necessarily vibe with fear so she also gets a pass. Waylon gets a pass bc I like depictions of him where he’s more humanized and actually nuanced. I do just picture this guy in my head as a giant anthro crocodile with a dad bod wearing a plain button-up and slacks on his off-days so that might be influencing my opinion here. He deserves a break, let the man rest.

Talia & Ra’s al Ghul: they’re not in Gotham so they don’t exist. Look, the moment we leave the Gotham boundaries we open up a whole new can of worms

Info Text :

Yellow stayed behind in the shack during the fight in AvA 8 while everyone else helped TSC fight TDL (she did this to try and bring Alan's cursor back)

She ended up witnessing CG being killed by TDL and TCO escaping the scene (unbeknownst to her is that Chosen had taken Second with him, she assumes Second is also dead since all of their bodies disappeared into particles) She manages to stop TDL from doing anything else by destroying / deactivating his tech, making sure there's nothing else he can immediately use to cause any more damage.

She runs away, trying to find anywhere to go - eventually finding TCOs wanted posters and going to Rocket Corp to give the information she has, Victim and Agent personally question her and take pity on her after learning that she has no way of getting back home because of the same person that also ruined their lives. Yellow stays at Rocket Corp.

18 months later & she's a full time worker at Rocket Corp, quickly proving herself to be useful with her inventions. She's officially Victims prodigy - he utilities their shared grief to get her to build more weaponry so they can eventually take down TCO and TDL.

She's drowning herself in work to try and distract herself from the immense grief she feels constantly. (Her crash out is inevitable)

She grew her hair out bc it reminds her of Blue.

I was telling some friends last night I'd be going more indepth with Mikey too so here it is

Sometimes I worry I infantilise Mikey a lot, he is a favourite character of mine and he's an amalgamation of the most vulnerable parts of myself. He's also given the short end of the stick from his life and the people around him as well which makes me very defensive about him in general.

If I'm a gobstopper and each of my characters are a specific layer of it, Mikey would be my soft centre

BUT just like I don't wanna give people the impression that Tandy is just a one sided grumpy pants, I don't wanna give the impression that Mikey is a perfect victim or incapable of fending for himself either. Max is incredibly over protective of him which causes a lot of strain in their relationship. Mikey hasn't been treated very kindly by people around him because he's very high maintenance and not very good at making people feel like he cares about them even if he does. Which makes him latch onto robots like Max who treat him with any amount of kindness. Max will defend him from pretty much everything. But after awhile Mikey starts lashing out because, truth be told, Max doesn't really view Mikey as an equal despite the kindness he shows him. Which eventually gets on Mikeys nerves. Max doesn't give him the proper space to heal from past traumas. Maybe I can sometimes pull a Max on him unintentionally when I write about him or draw him.

I created Mikey in a middle of a particularly grueling work week, feeling totally out of my element and very vulnerable. I believe I made him around the time I had started some antidepressants I reacted really badly to or just after I had to quit them cold turkey. I rolled up all those feelings I had at the time and sculpted it into Mikey. It's no wonder he looks absolutely miserable on his first ref

I also based him off an old dell laptop I had when I was a kid, windows 7. I broke it because I accidentally turned it off while it was updating and turned its computer brain into soup. That left a particular impression in my mind of what Dell computers were like: easy to break, badly. I turned that into Mikey being a lot more emotionally fragile compared to a lot of my other characters. I imagined what I'd be like if I was a Dell computer and I figured I'd probably not be happy. I recently got an old Dell Laptop that's similar to Mikey as a gift from a friend. He doesn't have a battery so he needs to be plugged in at all times but otherwise he works fine and I find him to be quite charming.

Everytime I see him I think about how I write Mikey. I wanted to make a character that represented the worst parts of my mental health but also gave a view into how other robots could quickly turn on a fellow robot if they viewed them as being too burdensome or annoying. But I don't want Mikey to just be a "hey maybe bullying people is bad" 90s kid cartoon style moral for Tandy. I enjoy writing him as a character in general. He is dipping his feet into writing and creating comics and I'm keen on exploring other facets of him as time goes on.

So there has been a lot on my mind been gone a few days so it feels a little bit more clearer

I do not want to meet the situation about me since I'm not the one who's being harassed Wenni has and I don't want to make the situation about me even though I am also being affected by it. Just not the way Wenni has been, that's why I have been scared to talk about how I'm feeling about Skittles.. and everything but uhh just because I don't want to make it about me I'm not the let's say main victim.. yes I have been harassed I don't know if was one of skittle's friends that told me this in my ask box but someone recently told me to kill myself and it threw me off

And for a while I felt forced to be friends with him (Skittles) I texted him before I blocked him that hey I felt forced to be your friend and it's making me uncomfortable.. I didn't say this part but the tracing also made me uncomfortable.. especially when it was clear that you copied someone else's design and is tracing someone else's art without credit or say oh yeah I make expired by this person inspiration, and now don't come attack me and say oh there's a few times that you didn't credit someone but as soon as someone say hey by the way maybe credit the person that gives you inspiration you @ them and I have I go back and edit pic or post and @ the person there is just sometimes where I get so excited that I forget but Skittles even after being called out and you're saying hey dude by the way maybe just give credit to the person that you take inspiration from Skittles is like erm actually they're tracing me!!

That's my point of view of how I see it and those other parts but I don't want to make this really long and boring to read

But I just mainly wanted to say how I've been infected by everything, after becoming friends with Skittles I thought they were kind and sweet they were to me but that's before I knew the full drama I did follow wenni on Pinterest for a while and seen little glimpse here and there last time I seen before I became friends with Skittles is that Wenni and Skittles were on good terms.. so I thought it was all right to be his friend, this whole friendship started because I made my old reference sheet of nighty, based off of on of wenni's old ref.. Skittles was like hey by the way maybe not copy me and I simply told them that I took inspiration from someone else that I didn't even know they were on the board, we became friends on Tumblr and talked, then I started getting targeted not targeted that's not the right word to say involved in drama that simply I was just watching from behind.. never had any attention to get involved with any of the drama but with my luck I somehow got into it because I was friends with Skittles.. I'm no longer friends with him and I feel free I feel safer now but I keep seeing the excuse of like his friends in my inbox "he made art for you and everything, he thought you guys were friends" just because you simply made art for me doesn't really mean anything I'm sorry? Like I make art for a lot of people doesn't mean I'm their friend I just think whatever OC or design I did was really neat and I wanted to draw it myself.. in the friend part I did see each other as friends but we never really communicated like we were friends.. we would talk to each other about the drama and I remember at some point I said whoever is tracing needs to own up to it now so this drama could be over and no one can get hurt or go through more mental health problems... But it seems that he didn't take that advice but oh well but other than talking about the drama and stuff we vented it to each other, there were a few funny moments but it's wasn't really friends? It was like that one buddy you see crossing the hall and you talk for a minute before going back to your class and then you don't see them for the rest of the year that's how it felt and before everything that happened I will admit I had a tad of a crush on Skittles but over time it started affecting me not in the greatest way... And I just lost all feelings when I got with my partner... And then at some point he would call me dear or something ? And sweetheart saying I'm sorry I think someone hacked my account acting all flirty with me which made me uncomfortable...

But besides that uhh he has now decided to text my mutuals or get his friends to do it I believe he's doing it because they are all anonymous and him or he got his friend to send something one of my mutuals inbox say hi by the way uhh river faked being friends with Skittles like a few times something something quite frankly I don't think you should be mutuals with them no more

Ok ok Skittles I see I see going to my mutuals telling them, that they should stop being friends with me because I stopped being friends with you because you're traced someone's art and copied many people's designs and when I tell you that I felt forced to be your friend and felt so uncomfortable and I unfollowed you which is a valid reason saying that I was uncomfortable and blocking you you're going to resort to going to my mutuals and basically harass them saying you should stop being friends with River, river is a bad friend you shouldn't be friends with them

Flips!Jason and Leo Headcanons!

CG!Jason!

-Jason is a very gentle yet awkward caregiver. he's very kind and can usually help his littles through their emotions but its hard for him to figure out what's wrong without being told directly what the problem is. he's not good at initiating activities so he lets his little drag him around and just offers suggestions and tells them when they need to take a break. he has a lot of rules but is rather lenient with them (the amount of rules are because of leo and piper but mostly piper). despite being very awkward, he's great with kids and littles. he does worry a little too much but that helps keep his little(s) safe. His main littles are Leo and Piper.

-with his rules, he likes to do reward charts. his little has follow the rules and if they get enough stickers after an amount of time, he'll get them a prize. they can save their stickers for a little prizes or a big prize. the reward system works well for Leo and Piper.

-he's very strong so being picked up or carried is no problem at all. he actually likes carrying around his little(s). he is also the 7's resident Mr. Piggyback Ride. he can also carry his littles on his shoulders

-he's a big cuddlebug! you earned a sticker? high five and a pat on the shoulder! youre excited? hugs! youre sad? head pats and snuggles! he loves holding his little's hand when theyre out and about. it makes him feel like his little safe.

-he's great at running around! he can play tag and hide and seek for hours (with breaks of course)! but he is oh so bad at playing pretend. he cant act to save his life. but to make up for it, he's great with arts and crafts! he has a lot of rules around the hot glue guns and scissors.

R!Jason!

-Jason's age range is 2-5, usually on the lower end since most of his regression is vent regression. a lot of his little days are spent clinging to his caregiver or babysitter and crying a lot. everyone spoils him though. he gets way too many sweets. Leo has to hide the candy from everyone else so they wont give it to Jason when he's little.

-Despite being good at helping his littles through tough moments and emotions, he has a hard time dealing with his own by himself. since he usually regresses on the younger side, and stumbles and stutters through his words and that also makes him upset. when he's having a hard time talking, he uses communication cards.

-on his better days, he's walks around with his paci and a plush whale Percy got him at a gift shop one day. he likes to hang out with people but doesnt talk much so when he wants something, he takes the person's hand, drags them around, points to where/what he wants, and makes them guess what it is. He likes to sit with Leo in the engine room and hand him tools. he doesnt know what the tools are, he just hands one to Leo, takes it back if its wrong, and continues until he hands Leo the right tool. Leo finds it amusing and starts naming off fake tools because Jason barely knows the difference. When he does notice (like super birdy wrench), he giggles. Leo has tried to teach him what some of the tools are but Jason just keeps forgetting.

-Jason also likes to hang around the kitchen if someone decides to cook something. they dont need to but if they feel like it, the kitchen is open and fully stocked. Jason likes to help with baking. grabbing ingredients and dishes for them (no glass though). They let his mix the foods and lick the spoons and spatulas when theyre done with them.

-he's still a cuddlebug no matter big or little. if he's in the common area, at least one person falls victim to being his cuddle buddy. Although he's really tall, he also loves being picked up and passed around. Percy and Frank carry him around the most. He also loves sleepovers with the girls and let's them do his makeup and mess with his hair.

CG!Leo!

-Leo is like a child whisperer. He's the best with kids out of the 7 and their closer friends. although he's adhd incarnate, he manages to be very attentive with his little. He's quick to figure out if something is wrong and can easily guess what his little is asking for, whether they use words or not. he's great with playing and has crazy stamina for running around; he can keep up with almost any little. His main littles are Jason and Piper, although he babysits almost everyone, and Piper prefers to regress with him.

-He's a very laid back caregiver. he has a few rules that he's super strict about, but other than those few, all for safety, he's very open to whatever. With his few rules, if one is broken, he sits his little down and talks to them about why they broke it. If he thinks they need to punished for breaking the rules, he usually puts them in time out for a short bit, takes away tv time, or something similar. he really doesnt like punishing his little(s) so they notmally get time out for a few minutes.

-Leo is a fantastic storyteller. Too good actually, because his little(s) for him to tell them more stories. He has been banned from storytelling for bedtime. Story hour, however, is the highlight of the ship. Even Coach Hedge stops watching his wrestling for a few minutes to listen in, but he goes back to the tv if the story isn't violent enough for him. He also likes to narrate other people doing simple tasks to make his little(s) laugh. He has to so he can make up for his bad jokes.

-He's great at most games and has a secret stash of board games, card games, and a list of pretned games in his closet. He also has a lot of house rules for his little(s) to choose from with all the games he has.

-Leo is a Human Heater™, he's always warm and always up for hugs and cuddles. If they arent playing, they lay in the common area and watch cartoons. Coach Hedge graciously lends them the tv for a few hours. Nobody says it to his fave but Coach Hedge is a major softie around all the littles.

-Aside from being too good of a storyteller, he's great at bedtime. No one understands how he's able to convince whoever he's caring for to go to bed. He takes the time to learn what makes them feel the most comfortable and creates a night time routine for them to follow. He also builds a stereo system within Festus to play lullabies.

R!Leo!

-Terror Twin #1 (Piper is Terror Twin #2). His adhd symptoms double when he's little. He regresses between 3-8. His younger headspace is also if he's vent regressing but typically, he's just very hyper and happy-go-lucky. He loves playing pretend and looking through picture books. His favorite game to play is hide and seek, mostly because he always wins, but also because he likes to find all the weird hiding spots on the ship.

-Leo needs a lot of rules because he has zero regard for his own safety when little. He follows them pretty well though. But he can still cause terror while following the rules. He and Piper love playing harmless pranks on the rest of the ship mates.

-He listens to music almost non stop when little. He huns along to everything but wont sing unless he's by himself. he listens to a lot of late 90s/early 2000s country. Hazel likes to sing country songs from her childhood to Leo since he likes country music, it reminds him of his childhood. He'll listen to anything though.

-He is impossible to put to bed. He always has energy and deals with insomnia so he always has bags under his eyes. The easiest way to get him to fall asleep is to give him hot tea and let him watch cartoons and cuddle in the common area but that doesnt always work. a lot of times, his caregivers fall asleep before he does, but he knows not to play loudly after a certain time.

-He also loves playing with toys and has a giant toybox in his closet with toys ranging anywhere from plastic construction tools to barbies.

-He gets dirty so easily, no one understands how. But thankfully he loves bathtime. He's got pajamas galore. He might even have more pajamas than actual clothes. Pajamas and soft blankets are everyone's go-to gifts for him

I hate when people talking about rewrites want to just reverse it and make Stella in the right and Stolas pure evil. Because now you’re just doing the same thing Viv does but reverse.

The real issue here is how unrealistic these characters can be. Like, in the show, Stella’s always in the wrong, no matter what. She’s seen as bitchy, stupid, and anything negative. This makes her feel like she’s not a real person, like a boring, one dimensional villain. I mean, I think it’d be fine to keep her a villain, as long as they make her an interesting one.

As for Stolas, in the show, he’s able to be as creepy, manipulative and awful as he wants, because he’s always going to be treated as in the right, and/or like a victim. It’s ok to have a character you’re meant to root for be flawed, but the show is constantly excusing and ignoring said flaws. If the character is constantly ignoring or excusing their deeds, then they’re going to just look worse, it’s the same when you try to just make them feel sorry for themself in an attempt to have a consequence for their actions. Regardless, making him pure evil would just make him Stella 2.0

Instead, maybe play into the way the writers try to make us view Stolas. Have him still portray himself the same exact way, have him try to excuse himself and play the victim, have him genuinely believe that he is, but be sure to not force feed his villainy to the audience like Viv does Stella. Have his manipulation tactics slowly start to work on a distrusting Blitzø, the same way they do in the show.

I think it’d be a bad idea to have Blitzø just immediately cut him off at the first sign of shittiness though, instead, it might be a better idea to make it so that Blitzø feels he has no choice before eventually, and again, slowly being convinced by himself and Stolas that the only way to be happy is to do what Stolas wants, and convince himself that Stolas is what he wants. Being manipulated to push down his discomfort, resentment and disgust to instead just tough it out, believing that if he just tries hard enough to convince himself, their relationship could be something fulfilling and ideal that will “fix” his self-hatred, like the writers seem to think it will. (This is unintentionally how it comes off in the show to me)

Maybe Stolas is convinced that love is about power, since Stella has power over him and is the closest thing he’s had to a romantic relationship. Maybe he thinks the way he’s treating Blitzø is normal without even realizing that his lived fantasy is actually horrifically abusive. Of course, that doesn’t mean it’s ok or that he’s not in the wrong for it. But it would explain his perspective as a villain. Perhaps people would call him out, and (just like in the show) he’d doubt it, convincing himself he’s just a boy, in loooove! /ref Having done nothing bad, everyone else is just a hypocrite, abusive, or stupid! He’s not a bad person.

Right?

Back to Stella, it’s ok to have her be a villain against another villain. Maybe the main characters see her as pure evil because she’s against Stolas, who’s manipulated them into trusting him. But just because she’s against someone awful, doesn’t necessarily make her a good guy either. Like, trying to kill your daughter’s parent doesn’t make you a good mother. She’s a bad person, but a complicated person. She’s not just some evil bitch, but she certainly isn’t good. Stella’s toxic and abusive… just in a different way.

This would show how complex the characters can be. Sure, she’s the enemy of your (currently unknown) enemy, but that doesn’t necessarily make her a good person. She’s been through a lot of horrible things, and her aggression and toxicity is how she’s taught herself to survive living an unfulfilling life and being treated as a mere tool for her family. Though abuse is still abuse, regardless of its motive.

At the end of the day, you could still portray her as abusive, but in a less obvious way. I think what makes these two so frustrating is that they’re both awful people, but only one of them is treated as such based on how honestly they go about their shittiness. This is why Stolas gets the baby treatment and Stella doesn’t. She seems to accept she’s a bad person, and fully leans into it.
