The show is basically telling us that Henry is already disillusioned with Thomas, he already sees no use for him anymore. He has slowly been distancing himself from Thomas, and leaving Thomas at the mercy of the other nobles because he himself, is starting to dislike Thomas. The comment about making Thomas and his family rulers of England, put Thomas in an extremely hot spot with the other nobles and Henry knew that, and he didn't come to protect him or explain what he meant. The Pole business has been one of the main factors running the relationship between Thomas and Henry.

However, it also has to do with outside factors as well. Obviously, there are people - like Stephen whispering into Henry's ear about Thomas, and that is putting Thomas in the hot seat.

But then it is, as Wolsey said - when Henry fucks up, who is going to be blamed? Thomas.

Henry realizes that his empire is crumbling by his own hand, but he is putting it on Thomas. At this point, France is an enemy to England, and historically, the pope has given any Catholic nation the right to invade England. Henry has been declared an enemy of the Church, and despite him breaking away from Rome, excommunication terrifies him; being seen as an enemy of Catholicism terrifies him, and it has happened.

And then, there is the pilgrimage of grace; the show pretty much brushed over this. But over 20,000 people were in open revolt against Henry due to the reformation, the destruction of the monasteries, the changing religion, etc. Henry's own country is turning against him, other monarchs and nations are turning against him, France - whom is envious of, is possibly going to invade him. And in his mind- it is Thomas' fault. thomas talked him into the reformation, Thomas guided his hand, it was Thomas who passed laws and legislations; it is Thomas's fault. Even tho in reality, Henry wanted him to do all of those things. Henry praised him for it, for the money it gave him, for the power he felt he had to change the religion, etc.

It's Henry's fault, but to Henry it's Tom's fault, and he'll make everyone know. So add all of that to Henry's mind, and then here comes Stephen, the ex-situationship, who is not only visicous, but is determined to make Thomas feel the same way he did before he was sent to France, but WORSE. He is on his own revenge quest against Thomas, and he is not just here to shame Thomas, he is here to kill Thomas. That is the creepy part, he literally wants Thomas dead.

Thomas's LAST chance, is the marriage. Thomas has already lost value in Henry's eyes, he is already looking for and has found a replacement for Thomas in his mind, he doesn't need Thomas any more, and what is worse is that Thomas is a liability. SO yeah, while I initially believed their relationship fell apart when he lost his temper at him, it fell apart away before.

And oh yeah Henry hates Lutherans LOL keep that in mind

2. First impressions of each other and how that changed

It's funny because the Dream Visitor disguise made Págos even more distrustful of The Emperor than his actual apperance as a mindflayer would have. Págos is incredibly insightful (proficiency), he knows manipulation, deceit, he knows someone trying to curry favor for their own agenda. He was a soldier, he was taught to do the same thing, of course he would know. So he treated this stranger, someone who appealed too much to his own taste, with none of the true experience to back up the apperance of a grizzled veteran, not to its fullest. So their interactions felt like tip toeing on ice as ive described it before, but there would be moments where the mask would slip, either the emperor would get too fustrated, or he would accidentally let his guard down to whatever he was struggling with. /That/ is what págos would push towards trying to see, and its what kept him from being too antagonistic. 

Meanwhile, The Emperor only saw what Págos vaguely remembered, which already created a bit of a fustrating dilemma. Even moreso when Págos showed he could match every move me made with his own, it made winning him over hard, and it was personally infuriating dealing with someone who shouldnt be able to see past what he was trying to do but Could. Eventually I think this grew into begrudging Admiration, and the games of them poking each other for more information became somewhat pleasant in a way, a chess match with an equal opponent. Overtime, Págos became less of an ally out of necessity, but an ally because he Wanted him to be. He had grown attached to their debates and mind games, he had grown comfortable in the recesses of Págos' mind. Following his actions, delving into his mind as if it were a banquet to pick and choose from, which págos allowed willingly.

3. When did they first "fall" for each other

 I did talk about this on twitter a lot before, but Essentially, for The Emperor he had to go through this entire process of figuring out what exactly he wanted this allyship with págos to be. Págos is different from his previous allies in a way that almost seemed too good to be true. Just as long as he kept the mask up itd work, which was only partially correct. The moment he realized he was fond of him was the moment he realized he could lose him. The fear, the anger of the mask being ripped off and the possibility of death swirling around. This entire time he was puppeteering from the shadows with the upperhand but now he was bloodied and beaten and laying before him. It was scary, págos held his and everyones life in his hands at that moment and yet his expression was stone, his mind was silent, he could not predict what he would say or do. He did not want to lose what he had gained, he was Desperate not to. And then, an offered hand, and the relief that came with it. When págos told him he trusted him more as a mindflayer now than he would have had he kept disguises up it was a new chapter for him and whatever a partnership with págos would entail.

For Págos, it was the talk on the bench in the astral prism, when the emperor's mind wandered into letting him in. It was one of the first conversations they had where there wasnt any disguises in place. The conversation lasted a lot longer in my canon, with págos kind of talking to him about why he doesnt have any particular prejudice against mindflayers and how he sees the world. Even kind of confiding in how he feels different than his companions and finds more comfort in the way the emperor also interprets things. While The Emperor talks about his own experience with his transformation, and how even though hes feeling grief its not an unwelcome emotion bc at least he still Feels something. They end up bonding a lot over the shared feeling of disconnect, and all of their previous conversations are given new light now that identities were revealed, making págos more interested in who he is Himself and their dynamic.

Magnificent Seven 1998

This, is not going to be a structured post by any means.

I am about to spew so much shit out your mind will be left reeling because you have no fucking clue about what im trying to say

But, im about to talk about my intense love for this show.

Its going to entail a lot of jumping around between thoughts and ideas because i dont know where to begin when it comes to me talking about this show and how much i care about it.

If we are going to start somewhere, it has to be the friendships

I love how almost all of the seven have a closer friendship to one out of all the rest of them. Examples being vin and chris, buck and jd, and josiah and nathan.

Unfortunately ezra doesnt have that, but i do love when the fandom makes him have good friendships with the rest in their own ways (i have a huge bias towards ezra & vin, ezra & jd, and ezra & buck friendship fr)

Vin and chris were literally destined to be bffs, i think it comes with being named Chris and vin because this is one of the few things actually retained from the 1960 version of mag 7 and i really do love the connection the characters have. Especially with how they basically communicate with little looks and gestures and dont even really need a full out conversation to be close with one another.

Buck and jd actually make me go crazy and i want to cry everytime i think about them because the friendship chemistry they have is insane. Their banter and how theres literally at least one scene of them hanging out together in ever episode makes me so happy. Literally found family brothers of im being honest.

I dont have as much to say about josiah and nathan (though i do love them very much), but i like how their friendship is established as already existing during the pilot because it adds a nice difference to the fast forming friendships of the other two pairs. I also like how im season twos premiere that when the seven split up, they still went together to the seminole camp to continue their lives. Its just really nice to have a strong, established friendship that holds up through the series.

Okay so now i want to talk ezra (hes literally my favorite and hes also literally me idc)

Ezra is such an interesting character because he doesnt have that bond between him and another one of the seven like the others do. Yeah he hangs out with all of them but you cant really point to one specific character and say 'yeah, thats his bff'

Out of the seven hes the one who has the least amount of reason to remain in the town (also for my sake im just going to call it by the fandom name through here on out- four corners- because its a fitting name and the town doesnt cut it for me) unlike the rest. Everyone all wants to protect four corners, but getting into specifics:

Chris has mary and billy he wants to look after

Vin has a place to call home that he doesnt have to run from due to being wanted (even though that gets resolved in sins of the past)

Nathan has people he can take care of and heal

Josiah can repent and do something good

JD can make a life for himself in the west and prove himself

And Buck can try (and fail) to get ladies (and of course look after JD)

But ezra? The most he had was wanting to buy his saloon, but thats ruined by maude (and i have so much to say about ezra and hers relationship)

Well i guess the most prominent reason he had to stay was when judge travis made him stay for 30 days so he could get out of being arrested. But then by the time the days were over he decided to stay (which shocked everyone including himself)

I believe that subconsciously, he realizes that four corners and being with the seven is where he belongs and that this is the right path in life for him.

I also like how his relationship with other characters grow throughout the show and how he (slightly) improves as a person. Also also how you can see that he isnt completely self absorbed from the get go

examples:

Literally the pilot episode where, admittedly, he does try to run. BUT he ends up coming back in the end to help everyone out because he knows its the right thing to do

In serpents when yes, hes trying to steal all the money. BUT he realizes that someones trying to kill mary and literally puts his life on the line to save her?? Like yeah hes selfish and hedonistic, but he does do the right thing eventually

Like in working girls when he was giving the ladies lessons. He did do it for money reasons, but he was also trying to make sure that theyd be able to get onto their feet and have good lives. He also didnt have to do drag to distract the people at wickestown, but he does because he knows that itd most likely succeed in the end.

And now, onto his mother.

If theres one thing i want to get straight, its the fact that i HATE when people demonize maude and try to make her out to be a horrifically malicious woman that hates ezra and only manipulates him for selfish reasons.

Yes, she sucks a good deal of the time and does actively make life hell when shes running a con, but shes also doing what she knows will keep her afloat in life.

She did drop ezra off at familys places when she went off to do cons ezra couldn't, which did contribute to her bad parenting because it really isnt fair to do that to anyone. But i think some people need to realize that she was a single mother that had to provide for a child and was just trying to do it in a way that she knew best.

Her tactics are manipulative at times and she has done things during the course of the show that shit on everything ezra was working for (namely: ruining his one dream of owning a saloon by almost immediately buying it out after he spent so long saving up money) and most of time its because she wants to 'teach him a lesson' but we cant hate on her for being a shittier person than she actually is.

Its extremely clear that she cares for ezra and loves him and its also very clear that ezra loves her back because he still puts up with her everytime she comes through four corners.

Now i kind of just want to talk about fandom and headcanons and those kinds of things

Now im not an active participant in the fandom (mostly because its very small and very dead and idk where to find other fans), but i do read a lot of fics from 20 years ago and ive picked up on a lot of things that they did back then that ive come to love very much.

If theres one thing i love it's ezra centric fics, especially ones that include the seven comingore to understand his philosophy about things and realizing that what he does is how he shows he cares, something bad happening that involves a misunderstanding of some sort that leads to an arduous process of realization and forgiveness, and also i do love just good friendship and teamwork

I also like all the AUs that people have come up with (such as the ATF one, i was wary of it at first but i think its so cool how well thought out everything is). Also how they share ideas and ocs and theres always a thanks and acknowledgment towards the people who created the ideas. (Like when i first started getting into the fics i thought Chaucer and Four Corners were canon names, but i was so shocked when i found out that someone came up with it and everyone agreed that theyre really good names and went with them)

Finally, for now, i want to cover some of my headcanons for the guys cuz im a little silly like that and i have way too many thoughts bouncing around in my cranium

Buck with heterochromia

I thought of this one when i was trying to do a drawing of the seven and i found out his eyes were blue and not brown like i thought. Instead of conforming because im too cool for that, i decided to just go with blue and brown

Ezra probably knows most of the main romance languages (specifically french, spanish, and italian)

It just feels like something he wouldve learned either by maude making him or something hed do on his own for con reasons

Vin is more blond than he is in canon

If im being completely honest and genuine, for the first probably six months after getting onto the show i couldve and wouldve sworn that vin was blond. Then i was getting pictures of the characters when o realized that hes actually a brunette??? So anyways my thought process for the blond thing is that its kind of bleached by the sun considering he spends a lot of time outside and especially due to his upbringing

JD has a little scar through his eyebrow because he was fooling around and got cut there

Another thing that came up when i was drawing a few years back. I just thought it looked cool but its something that happened as a complete accident that jd thinks looks cool, but when someone asks how it happened he gets really embarrassed because he was doing something stupid

Post series, Nathan and Ezra actually talk shit out and find common ground so they arent so pissy with each other

I just want them to be friends tbh, like genuinely theyd be the kind of friends that hate each others guts but would do absolutely anything to anyone if something bad happened to the other one

Character ages are another headcanon i have. Last year i wanted to see how old the actors were during the filming of the show compared to how old i thought the characters were and i was a little surprised at some if im being honest. Anyways heres my headcanon ages

when i reread this for the first time it absolutely floored me. gideon unknowingly tells harrow to her face what the secret of lyctorhood is, and she doesn’t notice.

i have so many thoughts about how harrow didn’t realize what lyctorhood entailed sooner. of course we have no idea what kind of conversations she and palamedes were having without gideon in the room, but presumably she could have figured it out just like he did (he tells ianthe that he discarded his conclusion as “ghastly and obvious” but I’m still counting it).

fundamentally, harrow doesnt figure it out because she’s so fixated on how much she already “owes” to gideon (and the universe in general) and doing everything she can not to need her at all so that she doesn’t add to her debt. gideon - albeit unknowingly - straight up tells her the answer to lyctorhood (during their argument after harrow tries to ban her from seeing cytherea) and she still refuses to see it. she’s furious, yes, to the degree of emotion that only gideon can make her feel, but she’s smart as hell, she’s focused, and she’s obsessive.

harrow says “nothing stands between myself and lyctorhood, and you are not a part of the equation” because to her, gideon absolutely cannot be part of the equation.

throughout the books, we hear over and over again how deeply the lyctors are destroyed by the sacrifice of their cavaliers. but harrows the only one who refuses point blank to let go of her cavalier, and it’s all because she cannot stand the thought of taking one thing more from gideon nav.

i don’t know. it’s just something i think about a lot.

hi i want to talk about the shirogane siblings because i actually really like the way the series handles their dynamic especially for a series all about communication. enjoy my little infodump

miyuki’s abandonment issues with his mother are pretty much the main source of all his conflict in the series. according to him, his mom always wanted a smart kid and forced him into taking exams for prestigious elementary schools- which he always flunked. and he could feel his mother losing interest in him, meanwhile kei actually WAS the prodigy his mom was hoping for. when their mom eventually left their dad, she only took kei

we very rarely see their mom herself in the story, aside from one brief flashback, so its hard to tell how much of this mentality she really harbored vs how much was miyuki projecting his insecurities. and kei hardly talks about her mother at all- but, then, why has kei been living with miyuki and their dad since her introduction? this is the first time the fact that her mom took her was even mentioned! so why did kei come back? well, in her own words

she didn’t come back. she ran away. she sees living with her father and brother as an escape from her mother. was she outright abusive? or maybe just too overbearing? its hard to say, but it’s somewhat telling that this conversation is going on with kaguya, who DOES come from an abusive household. and even though kaguya doesn’t remember it, she was the one who gave kei the courage to run away to begin with (which made kei fall in love with her). so there are some parallels being drawn to kaguya’s excessively strict upbringing, at least. and then theres the fact that miyuki and kei’s reactions to their dad bringing up their mom was this:

so then you have these two estranged siblings being reunited and living under the same roof after years apart. one of them has abandonment issues which have forced him to put on a facade of perfection, and the other just came out of a homelife which she felt was suffocating because she was expected to be perfect. so what does this lead to?

miscommunication! surprisingly, miyuki didn’t end up resenting kei at all, which is a nice change of pace for how these things usually go. after his mom left, he ended up becoming the one who takes care of the house, even being the main breadwinner, all in his strive to be a good kid and also keep his family afloat. he doesn’t want to lose any more family, he has to be good. when kei came back he seems to have very quickly taken up a more parental role in her life. and kei hates it! 

her behavior towards miyuki is translated as being her ��rebellious teenage phase” which isn’t usually something that relates to your sibling but rather your parents. but it goes beyond just “he nags her so she’s annoyed by him.” miyuki literally acts like a stereotypical overbearing mother to her. of COURSE she hates being treated like that, it reminds her of their actual mother. but miyuki’s overprotection for kei is born out of genuine care and concern- miyuki knows their mother, he knows kei was going through a hard time with her (whatever that entails) and he seems like he just wants to make sure his little sister is in a better place now.

(look at this picture- their mom is grabbing kei by the wrist. kei isnt holding her hand and walking with her, shes being dragged away from her brother)

they’re just not used to each other! they’re siblings, yes, but they haven’t lived together for years! miyuki doesnt realize his actions are having the opposite effect on her than his intents. a microcosm of their miscommunication is kei’s birthday; kei is aware that money is incredibly tight around the house and doesnt want anything for her birthday, but every year miyuki slips 1000 yen into her wallet anyway, and then feigns ignorance. which is incredibly sweet, but kei doesn’t understand why he would do this, and thinks hes just lying about things for no reason. his incredibly pure gesture just leaves her paranoid, it makes her frustrated with him because hes going behind her back. 

thats the issue! theyre not talking to each other! they both really do care about each other but they’re not talking. miyuki either nags his sister or does nice things behind her back, which she cant wrap her brain around. and kei either ignores her brother or hides behind a facade of harshness just to hide the fact that she cares about him, because that would be embarrassing to her in her “rebellious teenage phase.” and related to that, kei’s advice to miyuki regarding communication and “like-avoidance” was that kaguya may just be avoiding him because she’s embarrassed or afraid but..

she was also talking about herself. now, obviously this takes on a totally different context for kei and kaguya’s respective dynamics with miyuki, luckily the series doesnt do one of those weird “implied brother complex” things (and kei is a lesbian anyway). but beyond highlighting kei’s desire to be closer with her brother despite her embarrassment, its also another kaguya parallel! it could suggest that her fear around growing close to people and showing vulnerability comes from a similar place, beyond typical teenage embarrassment. just like her brother, she’s hiding behind a mask

kaguya-sama is a series about communication and vulnerability, ALL the characters are wearing masks all the time, because theyre all afraid of showing their true selves to other people. and sometimes this includes their family, because family can hurt you too. miyuki has to wear the mask of a perfect honor student because he’s afraid that, just like his mom, people will reject him if they find out that he’s not “actually” a genius (which is total impostor syndrome). and an extension of this is how at home he has to play the role of a pseudo-parent, and try to keep everyone together. kei wears the mask of a harsh and rebellious younger sister, because shes afraid of people seeing her weaknesses. shes not comfortable with that vulnerability. and she cant have an honest conversation with her brother about it because his strict and “motherly” treatment of her hits too close to home and makes her keep her distance. 

but at the end of the day they’re still siblings and they still care about each other. maybe they’re bad at talking about their issues, so they just end up annoying each other, or maybe they don’t really understand exactly WHY these things annoy them so much. despite that family drama, it doesn’t come off as TOO dramatic, its still a comedy series. the majority of their interactions are presented fairly casually, stuff like kei forcing her brother to read a manga that she liked and betting he would cry, or making fun of his terrible fashion choices- normal teenage sibling shit.

but in his defense, he was too busy trying to take care of their family and keep his grades up. he actually became MORE frugal when kei moved in because, in his own words, he wanted her to “have the freedom to be fashionable”. but kei wanted her brother to be able to have some normal teenage clothes too. it turns out she actually kept all the gift money he’s been giving her, and she used it to help him buy some new clothes.

its the perfect middle ground for them. miyuki teaches kei that it’s okay to let yourself be taken care of, and that sometimes people really do have your best interest at heart. and kei shows miyuki that he doesn’t have to play the role of a parent while he’s still just a teen himself. especially now that their dad has become a famous twitch streamer because this series is fucking insane, but im writing paragraphs abt it so i guess im insane too.

In my quest to examine the canon s4 dynamic between Leon and Gwaine (they interact so very little) I found that the scene in which they interact the most is from Lamia. Specifically the scene where they try to kill each other. Now, if you operate under the assumption that Lamia's influence causes the Knights to say and do things they never even would have thought under their own will (as much of the fandom and fanfic writers seem to do), then this scene isn’t significant to their dynamic. But, (and please bear with me, just hear me out) what if their actions, their words, do come from deep within them? Deeply buried resentment, long ignored beliefs and grudges being brought back to light, brought back to the surface and amplified by 100. It certainly would explain a lot. The behavior had to come from somewhere, it makes sense that the lamia would dredge up long past intrusive thoughts, ingrained prejudices and biases, grudges, buried instincts, and resentment in her victims and make it volatile enough for them to act on that influx of negative feelings while feeling only adoration towards her in order to keep herself safe and her (for lack of a better term) prey vulnerable to her attack. It’s not how they think now, but it was at some point or another.

I think that this is a logical explanation for the knight’s behavior in the episode. The whole reason I was watching through scenes with Gwaine and Leon in season 4 in the first place was because I wanted to see if there was any canon evidence for my headcanon that Gwaine was hostile towards Leon in the beginning due to Leon’s noble status and Gwaine’s hatred for nobility which caused their relationship to be rocky in the beginning. Lamia was the only episode I clearly saw evidence of this, but if my theory about the why of the knight’s actions is correct, then its all the evidence I need. If Gwaine originally hated Leon because of his nobility, then that would be brought to the surface. And indeed it looks like it was as it was Gwaine that antagonized Leon and initiated  the fight between them. From Gwaine (the episode) we know that one of the things Gwaine hates about nobles is their belittlement and mistreatment of servants. Well, shortly before the scene where Leon and Gwaine fight, Leon yells at Merlin and dismisses him by yelling at him “you’re nothing but a servant!” and if you watch Gwaine in the back ground, his face is twitching and he looks pissed at Leon. So not only is Gwaine’s hatred for nobles brought into play, but specifically his dislike for Leon because of his nobility (which he just displayed towards Gwaine’s best friend). This is further backed up by Gwaine saying to Leon right before the fight “Why don’t you watch your damn tounge” which doesn’t really connect as a response to “Why don’t you watch where you’re going” but it does connect to Leon berating Merlin earlier. And then of course they try to kill each other, which is why I think they didn’t always got along, because while Gwaine had reason to be pissed at Leon, Leon didn’t have reason to be as pissed at Gwaine as he was unless there was past conflict and disrespect between them.

Now the part of this I was dreading: explaining the knight’s behavior towards Merlin (and Gwen, but mostly Merlin). I’ll start with Percival. From his actions in the episode, I don’t believe Percival’s aggression towards Merlin has anything to do with the fact it’s specifically Merlin. We know Percival lost his family and while we don’t know if this entailed parents and siblings or wife and children, it would be reasonable to conclude that he was protective of his family. That is what Lamia is manipulating, making Percival feel protective of her the way he would a family member and causing him to treat anyone who causes her fear or discomfort like a foe. If she had acted afraid of one of the other knights, I believe Percival would have treated them the way he treated Merlin in the episode. 

I don’t have a whole lot to say on Elyan because he was unconscious for most of the lamia business, but he was dismissive of Gwen so maybe Lamia used a past sibling grudge or sexism to cause him to be short with her and dismiss her opinions. It might be a reach though.

Now Gwaine: I stand by what I said earlier that he fought Leon in part because of his treatment of Merlin. But we must remember that Gwaine was raised as a noble, so that view may have been a result of him realizing that what he was taught as a child about class treatment was not fair or right. But that still stands that it was a view he once had, allowing the Lamia to make him act on it. I fully believe that the end result we see is why Gwaine hated nobles so much, and why he hid his nobility and would not act on it. Because he didn't actually seem overly aggressive or violent towards Merlin until Merlin told him not to do something and grabbed Gwaine's arm. A sign of friendship, of familiarity. This could come from the servant thing, it could also come from a place of "fuck authority" since Gwaine doesnt like that Merlin told him what to do. I just know my heart breaks at Merlin's flinch and expression.

Finally Leon. He was by far the most aggressive towards Merlin, both verbally and physically. I believe that the lamia was dredging up Leon’s past prejudices and biases, as well as potentially previous thoughts and beliefs. I want to stress that these are past feelings brought forth and amplified by the Lamia. I’ll start with the very painful “you’re nothing more than a servant!” Well. Leon is a noble, a knight, and he was raised in Camelot which is very classist. This could very well have been Leon’s upbringing talking, or just as likely, this could have been part of Leon’s opinion of Merlin back when he first became Arthur’s servant and was very snarky and bold (like he is in this scene that sparks this remark): that he should not be so bold to talk to those above him like that because of his status as a servant. Much of his behavior towards Merlin and Gwen can be attributed to this, as Leon got mad that he was being contradicted and questioned by servants which was not the status quo in Uther’s Camelot. I’m not going to go in depth on it because I hate it, but Leon attacking Merlin is coming from the same place of Servants should stay in their place and if they don’t they deserve to be punished. I think his anger and short fuse also speak to how his patience and level head is a result of effort and is not his default.

For the Ask Game, I do love some sci-fi, so Android au if you please!

Ohhhh yes, this one was a bit of a mess, but once i polish it and reorganize it, muah, it will be perfect.

Not sure if you know of Detroid Become human, but the concept is sort of that on general. At least the idea of it, we are dealing with post game, meaning androids have become sentient and have rights, sort of.

Peter is from a line of androids that would be the Lukas family. The Lk Models, there are five, him and his siblings, Simon is the one looking after them since they are unique in the sense that there are no copies, just them.

Peter's siblings gained sentience, but... he didnt, he still works with his regular parameters and refuses to deviate, meaning he considers himself just a machine serving a porpouse and doesnt understand why everyone is acting differently or why they look at him oddly.

Now, androids are not all sentient, they have to sort of fall into it, Peter didnt, so Simon worried about him, because he does think of him as family, sents him away without explaining to him why. Thing is he sends it to his friend Jonah/Elias, cause he has been known to accidentally make androids turn deviant easily by sheer fact of being onbnoxious.

Plot hits with Peter slowly finding loopholes to act more human without deviating, elias thinks that he did due to reasons and the two of them start to fall in love and get into a relationship. Which of course when Elias realizes that Peter is still not deviating and is in fact acting up according to his idea of making him "happy" he flips his shit, cause it means its not real.

thing is... it is, Peter doesnt understand it, but it is real, he does feel those things even if he didnt deviate, he is just less capable of dealing with it than someone who did. So shit hits the fan and well, the rest is plot till they fix things up.

“My mom used to take me to the park near our house all the time-” Peter thinks of what to say.

“Simon would take us to the office, albeit we were still in our children's models at the time. It was mostly so the scientist could check us out for any new repair but it was exciting to be out of the house” Elias looks at him puzzled.

“Children's bodies?” He nods, now excited to share something that he actually knows about.

“Yes! Simon wanted to see if he could make a line of androids to grow up! You know how sometimes parents adopt child models, but eventually get tired of them? He wanted to fix that by making us pass from a body to the next one. To simulate aging you see, unfortunately the actual effort that entailed to update software and pass from one body to another was too high for mass production. So it was left only as a personal project of his, hence why we are all unique models”

The man looked kind of shocked for a bit.

“So you had… a childhood?”

“Sort of? I spent a few years in a child body, then a teen, then a young adult and now this one” Peter looks to be in his thirties, he asked to be given an actual beard and gray hair from his previous model, he kind of was done with being called cute by old ladies at the store.

“Wait, how old are you actually?” His answer comes quickly.

“As for being active? 11 years i think. Clara 17, Lydia 15, Judith 13 and Aaron 9. Still i do have the mental faculties of a thirty year old, dont misunderstand”

“I dont- i dont, i'm just surprised that's all, never quite thought it was possible”

“Well… here we are”

“Yeah… here we are” Elias smiles at him and links their arms. He feels a bit odd at that. His software warns him of an instability, it also asks him if he wants to save up the image of Elias' smile.

Summary: Tony Stark always knew about Peter Parker. He didn’t know that Peter was going to get superpowers and become Spider-Man, but he always knew about Peter because Peter was his son.

This will span from pre-Iron Man up through the rest of the MCU (eventually including Infinity War) and will be for the most part canon compliant except where I’ve taken some liberties and interpreted canon a certain way.

Chapter One Hundred Five

It turned out that having Michelle know he was Spider-Man and acknowledging that she did was a good thing. Michelle was just all that much better about covering for Peter. Just the other day when they’d gone on a small class trip and Peter had spotted a mugging happening, it was Michelle that had distracted everyone long enough for Peter to get away unnoticed and then again when he rejoined them.

The only thing about Michelle was that unlike Ned, she actually seemed concerned about what Peter got up to. She worried. It was weird especially when she pretended that she didn’t in person and then sent him long rambling texts about how he wasn’t being careful and how close he came to getting injured or hurting others.

It was all on par with how much coverage Spider-Man had started to get from the media which Peter didn’t particularly like. At first it had seemed cool to be mentioned on the news all the time and to have articles about Spider-Man popping up everywhere. His favorite were the YouTube videos since those were usually fun to watch mostly because they weren’t all made by anyone truly professional. But after a while, even those got old. It got annoying. Tony definitely disliked it.

“I just don’t like how interested everyone seems to be in finding out your identity,” his dad said while they were tinkering in the workshop. “It’s none of their business.”

Peter liked listening to him rant. It was kind of hilarious especially when one considered Tony’s own media presence basically his entirely life.

“And it’s not like we’ve announced that you’re an Avenger or anything but some reason they just seem to associate you with us.”

That’s when Steve spoke up. “That’s because they see you out and about with him all the time as Iron Man and Iron Man is an Avenger.”

“That isn’t the point,” Tony said.

“And also, Peter’s the only hero that’s popped up that has a hidden identity. Gives everyone a mystery to want to solve.”

Tony muttered some more and Peter tried not to laugh. He could tell that Steve was amused too.

Since all that stuff with The Vulture, Tony still did tend to show up when Peter needed help. He was better about letting Peter be involved in things especially when they didn’t involve alien tech. They had stopped some weird guy with what seemed to be some sort of power -- Tony said he was probably an inhuman -- just the other day from destroying a big portion of Greenwich Village. The guy hadn’t been doing it on purpose it turned out it. It was just that his powers were so unstable. Peter had been glad to have Tony there because he didn’t a single person could have handled everything that instance entailed. Even Vision had made an appearance for that. In the end they had subdued the guy and Tony had handed him over to a the new Shield.

“But also, it’s not just the identity thing,” Tony kept on, “it’s that there’s varying degrees of coverage. He’s good for the city. He’s a vigilante. He’s an Avenger. He’s not. It’s ridiculous. At least no one seems to have put together that I built your suit. Or at least no one’s written an article about it yet. And can you imagine if anyone found out I had a son? Because then they would definitely start questioning whether you were the one under the mask and then my parenting would come into question.”

It was no surprise to Peter that Ned loved it. He had a whole collection on articles written about him and he would send Peter the more outrageous ones and Peter would pass those on to Steve because Steve loved reading them too. May seemed to agree with Tony on the whole matter. But then, May also tended to try and get Peter to quit being Spider-Man altogether whenever she saw him and it wasn’t something that was ever likely to stop. She liked to bring up questions about school and girlfriends and college and how Spider-Man wouldn’t be an ideal addition to any of those as her way of asking him to stop.

As he stepped out of Midtown one afternoon, Peter was surprised when he spotted Tony complete with a baseball cap, sunglasses, a grin, and a thermal cup that probably contained coffee, leaning against a sleek black car that at least proved to be his least flashy. Still, no matter how hard he was trying, he looked out of place and people were noticing him.

Michelle who had walked out with him spotted Tony with no problem and when Peter glanced at her he could practically see her thinking. Her left eyebrow rose and she stared him down.

“Is Tony Stark actually picking you up right now?”

Peter shook his head. “Nope. It’s all in your imagination. You’re hallucinating.”

Michelle laughed -- cackled more like and Peter grinned back at her as she nudged him and rolled her eyes. Ned appeared then, busy with his backpack as he walked, and only managing to not run into anyone because anyone in his path dodged him.

“Hey, what’s going on?”

“Your boy here is being picked up by Tony Stark. Fancy that. I bet Flash will be jealous.”

“Which is why I’m going to go before anyone else notices,” Peter said and rushed away. When he looked back Michelle waved and Ned grinned at him and gave him thumbs up.

“Hey,” Peter said when he was close enough.

“Hi, kiddo,” his dad said, “I was in the area so I figured I’d come by and get you. I was also sort of craving this apple crostini this one restaurant has so we’re going to have to make a stop for that. Up for it?”

Peter rolled his eyes but nodded. “Sure.”

They got into the car and when Peter looked out the window he realized that a few people were watching them. Someone must have caught onto Tony being there. Not that it really mattered since everyone knew that Peter had a Stark Internship. Of course, no intern could have ever expected for Tony Stark himself to show up to pick them up from school. He was definitely going to hear about it.

The restaurant Tony took them to was a hole in the wall that no one would have ever noticed and yet it was busy. A well known secret. Nevertheless, they were seated at a discrete table towards the back without much wait which told Peter that Tony had called ahead.

“Why are we really here?” Peter asked.

“I told you -- apple crostini. Also, remind me to order one to go because Steve would kill us if we don’t bring him one back. We used to come here sometimes back in the day.”

“Oh,” Peter said.

His dad never really talked about how he and Steve had come to be and Peter didn’t really have any questions or want to know details, but he loved when Tony slipped in something that hinted at a past memory. It made him realize how normal it all was in some ways. Sometimes, it was still shocking to think about Iron Man and Captain America in a romantic relationship or to consider that they were getting married until he thought about them as Tony and Steve -- his dad and his dad’s fiance.

“Truth is, I wanted to catch up with you,” Tony said. “Things have been a bit crazy lately. Haven’t really spent much time with you on our own. Steve or someone else is usually around.”

Peter hadn’t -- no, he’d noticed, it was just that he hadn’t minded. He’d never expected to have Tony to himself all the time and had felt lucky when he did even if then it had been broken up to a few hours here and there and now he was living in the tower and had access to Tony all the time and it didn’t really matter that there were other people around.   

“We can start with, who was the girl?”

Peter rolled his eyes. “Who, Michelle? I’ve told you about her. She’s the one that figured out I’m Spider-Man all on her own.”

“MJ. You said someone named MJ did.”

“Michelle Jones. She likes to be called MJ. Anyway, that was her.”

Tony nodded. The waitress approached then and Tony ordered the apple crostinis and remembered to order the one to go as well without Peter needing to remind him.

“So she’s super smart and observant,” Tony said.

“Yup. Definitely knew it was you waiting for me. Actually, I think a few people figured it out.”

Tony shrugged with a grin. “And they can all wonder about what your internship entails once more.”

Tony started asking about how things were going in school next and Peter filled him in even though he was sure he’d mentioned some of it to him in passing over the last few weeks.

The apple crostini turned out to be amazing. He was in the middle of telling Tony about what they’d started working on in physics when it arrived and after one bite of the crunchy and flaky crust with the warm apple filling and the ice cream and Peter was in heaven.

“I told you so,” Tony said.

“This is the best thing ever,” Peter said.

It was nice to have some time on his own with Tony. Tony told him all about how the board members were driving him and Pepper crazy because they didn’t like that Tony’s concern wasn’t all about profit when it came to the prosthetic division even when it came to custom projects.

“It’s like they don’t understand how good the PR is although that obviously isn’t why we’re doing it.”

“But it’s your company,” Peter said.

“Pepper and I own more than half of the shares of the company, sure, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have to deal with the board of directors. It’s the side of business that I don’t particularly like. Pepper is awesome at it. It’s all stuff you’ll have to learn about if you want to take over the company one day--”

“Um, what?” Peter said and almost choked on a piece of apple.

Tony chuckled. “Won’t be for a while and it’s up to you if you want it. It’s not an obligation, you know. You could find your own Pepper Potts and have someone else run it if you prefer. I rather you do what you want than what you think I want you to do so--”

Peter had sort of forgotten about how Tony had broken the news to him what felt like ages ago even though it hadn’t even been a full year yet. He’d forgotten how Tony told him that he would inherit everything as if that had been the right way to let him know that Tony was his father. Since then, Peter hadn’t really thought about it or the reality of what it actually meant which meant that it was overwhelming information to take in.

“I -- that’s--”

“What, did you forget that I’m Tony Stark? You’re my heir, kid, to this whole crazy company and whatever else I’ve accumulated.”

“But what if -- what if you and Steve have kids?” Peter asked.

It wasn’t something he’d considered before that moment, but wasn’t that what people did after they got married? They went and had kids. Peter was aware that Tony and Steve were both men but there were ways around that -- surrogacy or adoption or other weirder things. It was possible. Peter didn’t know if -- well, he didn’t know if he’d be thrilled about it if they did have kids. He felt weird even just thinking about it.

“Not really something we’ve discussed,” Tony said and he seemed to notice that Peter seemed uncomfortable. “And even if we did decide to have kids it wouldn’t be for a long while, Pete.”

“Oh,” Peter said. But they could still have some even if Peter was fully grown when they did--

Tony grabbed his hand. Tony’s hand was warm and familiar and Peter allowed himself to calm down. “Peter, you’re my kid. I -- I love you, kid. Not something that will ever change. I’ll always be here for you no matter what. Even if Steve and I adopt a hundred kids. You’re still always going to be my son and you’re the most important person in my life.”

Peter hadn’t expected Tony to say that. Those three words. Tony had said them before, he was sure, but Peter couldn’t actually remember. He certainly hadn’t expected them in the moment.

“I don’t think even Steve will want to adopt that many kids,” Peter said.

“If he even wants to,” Tony said with a shrug. “I’m not saying I wouldn’t be opposed to another kid -- it’s just I’d be fine with just you.”

“Oh,” Peter said. “But you didn’t get to raise me. Not really. Don’t you want that -- the whole baby thing?” Peter didn’t really understand why people were so keen on babies. He knew they were cute but they also cried and made messes and couldn’t really do anything and he actually -- he couldn’t see Tony or even Steve dealing with a baby well.

“That doesn’t matter. Clearly, it doesn’t. You’re still my kid, Peter, and as has been established you clearly need me a lot too no matter what your age is.”

Peter nodded. “I kind of do,” Peter said and then because he couldn’t say anything else, “I, um, I love you too, dad.”

He thought that Tony’s eyes got a bit misty at that and Peter realized that he’d never actually said it out loud before. But it was true. It had been true for a while. Peter loved Tony. He loved his dad and everything that he was and did for Peter. He was one of the best people he knew and Peter would forever be glad that he knew who his father was and that it was someone as amazing as Tony Stark.

Chapter One Hundred Seven

It’s not as though Natalie Green knew what this year held in store or what would exist at the end of the road. Though, at every step of the way, he kept going. Embodied in both his music and his story of perseverance, is a rare example of an artistic soul that found peace where few would ever dream to look. It took months of learning and continued questioning of himself and what he wanted to be. But in the end, it resulted in a man anew.

With a new project taking shape in studio sessions that contrast his earlier life, Natalie Green is finding a voice he previously was nervous to share, speaking louder than before. The ideas, memoirs and anxieties he hopes to express have become clear. With every note, he continually finds himself as much as he does connect to those who battle the same confusions.

Natalie Green now stands with a new asset he hadn’t held prior, the ability to embark on the path he wants, not the one life throws him upon. He can stand and become the artist he visualizes, the artist he knows is essential to reveal to the world. For the first time in a while, Natalie Green is in control, with a steering wheel in hand and a road of possibility on the horizon.

Our first question as always, how’s your day going and how are you?

Things have been hectic, but good. Good busy you know? There are different kinds of busy and this one has been all positive.

On your last EP last year, it sounded like you weren’t fully at peace, do you find that you are now after a year of personal introspection?

Yeah for sure, when I was writing the EP, I was in a really terrible place physically, emotionally and mentally. It was a passion project when it came out, I didn’t have to think about it. Whereas now, I’ve got a place, I’m not just in my car anymore, I emotionally feel a lot more centered, I have my head on straight. I’ve found friends and people that I love to surround myself with. Everything’s been a thousand times better.

When you’re looking within this shift you’ve undertaken, where do you think you’ve personally grown the most, whether artistically or as an individual?

I think I’ve gotten more empathetic towards people. All people. As well, I feel more self-aware. What I realized when living in my car was that I didn’t know myself. Living in a house again with roommates made me, in a new way, learn more about myself, and where I needed to spend a lot of time mentally. As far as musically, I feel more confident, I think that’s apparent in my vocals and instrumentation, they’re far more personal in that sense.

With the new year in season, being a time of reflecting upon the past year, do you have any memories that stick out to you as positive through the difficult and turbulent times?

There’s a lot. I don’t know if there’s one specific moment, but definitely moving into the apartment. I also got to play a private show in my friend’s backyard for all my close friends. That was a big moment for me. There’s a lot of moments where I had friends reassure me, and believe in me when I wasn’t doing so myself. One of my best friends from back home came to live here a little while ago, that was really special to have him back. The whole tour with Roy, of course, was inspiring, to see him do all that and becoming closer to everyone I went on tour with will forever be in my memories.

With that tour, and even more so working on Cat Heaven, happening while you were working on your own projects, did they influence the way you approached your new work?

There are certain things I learn from other people I can implement in my own music later. There will be something I’ll figure out while I’m working with someone, be it a sound or a new style, I can kinda pull out later. A lot of it is just talking to others and learning their inspirations and how that reflects in their music. Then turning and comparing that to my own influences and seeing how I do the same. It’s all just inspiration.

To touch on that idea of inspiration, you’ve mentioned in the past how you have a wide range on influences in your life in terms on music, but in the last year, which artists have really been influencing the work you’re putting out?

There’s been a lot of really great artists I just got into this past year-ish, but a big one is Michelle Zauner, who’s the singer for Japanese Breakfast. I’m hugely inspired by her, the fact she directs her own music videos and does all her own creative output, it’s really amazing. I’ve also loved the movies of Michel Gondry and the writing of Charlie Kaufman, anything they work on is amazing and so intoxicating.

With this new album you’re ramping up to release, has there been a difference in approach to how you wrote songs and lyrics? And how does that process look like?

I mean it’s been different for almost every song, I tried to do the album the same way I did the EP, and it wasn’t working right. Every song I wrote just felt lacklustre or the same. So to change it up, I had to change my methods, like the first song I wrote, I did two guitar parts first and then I sang, then produced over. That is very different to the EP which was songs first then lyrics. There are certain songs where before I recorded, I had a guitar riff and just wrote the song in a very traditional way, just chords and singing. Maybe loops would be first at times, and then they’d be built off of. Everything has been different.

It’s interesting because it sounds like you’ve really been adding more to your skill set as an artist, would you say that if you had a tool belt of music, that you’ve been adding towards it in the last while?

Yeah, definitely. I’ve been doing that my whole life honestly. I started in bands, not knowing how to produce or anything, but I could play guitar and from then I learned the bass just to add of that. Then I learned production, and that is forever useful. Now I’m working more to be an artist and learn what that entails and requires. Every time I learn something new I really take that and hold onto it until needed.

If you could create your ideal music creation space, where would it be and how would it look like?

That’s interesting, It would really just need to be a secluded place. A place I could disappear and a place I could be as loud as I want as late as I want. No interruptions, all the equipment I needed. Some food, drinks and a bathroom, that’s all I need.

Over the year you’ve posted some concerts you went to, like Paramore in the summer. Are there other shows you saw live that really had an impact upon you and maybe changed the way you approach live shows yourself?

Well, of course, the tour with Roy, he’s been super inspiring in general and watching the man work is amazing. He has a lot of fantastic ideas and he goes through with them. I saw Daisy as well, and they’re so good live. Solange was also amazing with her stage design and her choreography. I also saw Soccer Mommy pretty recently, and it wasn’t too extravagant but it was so well done and exciting to see as a fan of the music.

When you’re on stage, even something like the backyard show you mentioned earlier, what’s the emotion you’re trying to achieve and what is the mindset that you find yourself within at that moment?

When I played that private show, I realized all my songs were pretty mellow and hard to dance or move to. All except for Beachwood didn’t translate very well. So with this new project, I want them to translate really well live, to feel energetic, to feel lively. The songs are just fun. But I keep that emotion in and make sure that I don’t lose what made the earlier work so special and important.

What’s been the overall message you’re trying to pursue this new work and what is it you’re hoping to convey?

I kinda just want to tell my story. Or a story of mine. If people learn things from that, its great, but I’m just saying what happened in my experience. What I realized is that there’s a lot of shitty things that happened to me in my life, but the truth is that things could be a lot worse, so far they’ve been pretty good for the most part. While I had those tough days, I’m still here kicking it.

I apologize if it’s a repeated question, but with the topic of your story, what’s the meaning behind the stage name you’ve taken upon yourself?

It is and it isn’t part of my story in a way. A big part of that choice was that I wanted to separate myself from my old name and work. I wanted this to be super new. The name is taken from two names of people I am very inspired by. And it also, to me, sounds like the quintessential hot girl from a high school, the girl in the coming of age movie they all go after.

If you had a message to artists out there who may find themselves in the same space as you have previously found yourself within, those who may feel as unsure, what would be your lesson to pass on?

I think it doesn’t matter if you’re as confident or as talented as you want to be, as long as you recognize what sounds good to you, just put out the song. It doesn’t matter if you think your voice was bad, just keep progressing as an artist. If you wait for that progression you’ll never put stuff out, you’ll never be happy. With whatever you have right now, just start putting something, anything, out.

Remember

As children, we see more than we understand, and as we grow it begins to make sense. Over time, things you didnt understand then slowly come full circle.

This was true, this was fact. But some things are so cruel, so vile, that its beyond comprehension-- we see it, and yet choose to ignore it, lock it away in the steel vault of your memory, to never be seen again. Perhaps that’s why it took her so long to realize, so long to finally have her eyes opened to the possibilities--the power-- that her teacher had locked away.

Of course, Asra had always been more than just a teacher. Aveana didnt remember then, but she remembered now. Dear friend, companion, and... perhaps something more... in another life.

When the memories first flooded her mind it was like one of her headaches, but excruciatingly painful, moreso than usual. The full force of it hit her after she stumbled back to her room, blinding hot pain behind her eyes, a thundering sound in her head like a thousand heartbeats ringing in her ears. Scenes and pictures fly before her minds eye and she is helpless to stop it, nearly collapsing to the ground as she cradles her head in her hands. Tears threaten to spill down her cheeks, a swell of panic rising in her chest-- Asra, Asra, where is Asra--??

And then it stopped. All at once, the pain, the cascade of memories that once haunted her, the gaping void in her chest that told her something was wrong-- all gone.

Aveana took a shaky breath, swaying as she rose from her knees, hand gripping the wall to  support herself. It was... jarring. To suddenly have answers to all the questions she had... one memory stands out like a flame burning in the dead of night, forcing her to lurch towards the door on unsteady feet, a sudden desperation to her movements.

She had to find him-- Lucio. She needed to get to him. Of course, to the rest of the city he was dead, but Aveana knew better-- her recollected memories filling the gaps in the story. Lucio was here, in the palace, he wasn’t human-- not quite-- but he was still there.

And right now Aveana wanted nothing more than to see him again.

She remembered the first night she was at the palace, blindly stumbling into lucios wing, terrified-- but now she knew no fear. She remembered when those halls were glowing, the portraits along the walls intact and standing proud-- always so proud.

Mercedes and Melchior guard the stairs, and unlike their first meeting Aveana doesnt shy from them-- she remembers the cold winter nights when those two dogs would curl up in her lap as she read her books-- she did not fear them.

The hounds must notice a difference, because they greet her like an old friend, tails wagging back and forth, shoving their long snouts at her hands.

Aveana hushes them before they can bark, rewarding them with a few scratches under their chin. "Let me pass?"

The dogs wide crimson eyes glimmer with mischeif as they move aside, ears perked and listening as Aveana ascends the winding staircase.

The chill that washes over her is not natural, and she can feel now, the slight charge of magickal energy to stale air.

Its as decrepit as it was the first time, but now Aveana hopes she will hear that voice she heard before... beckoning, calling to her...

"Ah, if it isn’t my little dove... flocking back to me..."

The ghostly echo of that familiar voice sends shivers down her spine-- but not out of fear. She recalls the nickname, oh how she hated it before... now she doesnt want to stop hearing it.

"I always come back, don't I?" Her voice is smooth and even, despite the turmoil she feels in her chest. How could she have let this happen?

There is a heavy silence that follows her words, but then he is speaking again and its like hes right beside her, whispering in her ear.  A heat races over the nape of her neck, like she was standing beside an open flame.

"Something.... is different."

He sounds so close, she wonders if she reached out if she would feel anything, but she keeps still.

"I remember."

Those two words makes the whole scene around her shift and marble until it is just like it used to be, glowing, radiant red and gold, vibrant and in front of her--

“Lucio...” His name is a whispered breath on her lips, and shes almost hesitant to reach out, touch him, after all this time it feels like a fever dream. Like if she were to disrupt it the image would shatter and she would be back in the void of not knowing.  Lucio doesn’t share this fear because he doesn’t hesitate to sweep her into his arms, pulling her as close as he can, face pressed to the top of her head, arms strong around her. “’Veana...You’ve come back to me...”  His voice sounds almost heartsick, a tinge of longing that Aveana had never heard from him before, but it makes her heart jump into her throat. 

Theres no hesitation this time when she wraps her arms around him, its almost like it was before things went to hell, before.... everything. Almost. The smell of ash and dust lingers, he no longer smells of roses and cardamom, instead he smells like fire, death and decay.  Aveana has been so empty, so lost without him that she doesn’t care, she would take the shell of what he once was over nothing. She knows what life is like with nothing to remember him, and its a fate worse than death, she realizes.  “Yes, I’m back. To stay, this time. I’ll never leave you again.” She whispers, the promise ringing in her ears and she intends to keep her word. Whatever that entails, she’s willing to risk, to throw it all away, if it means she can have him again.  By any means necessary. 

a little snippet of my Dark Au that i’ve been toying with, writers block and my current living situation are NOt gr8 so i’ve been slowly suffering. today was the first day i had some energy to write so have this for now-- theres more to come if you guys like it!

We embrace the chaos then

I think motivations 1 and 3 very much fit one another - lulu doesnt just lack what it takes to be a captain, he has no interest in it either, but since he didn't seem to intend to leave the crew, his mother decided he would be the physician as a compromise. I do like lulu wanting to live a calm life in a cabin somewhere, it's more suited life to him, but one he never really had the chance to contemplate living his whole life in a pirate ship. It might even be something he doesnt realize he wants for a very long time, maybe even something martin tells him about mermaid life - calm and free and easygoing, without the worries of the human world - that triggers this realization. Anyway, i think it serves as his final goal.

BUT i gotta say i dont agree with this being the only way we get to the quiet intimacy and vulnerability we see in the fanart. 100% on board on capturing that feeling, i like it a lot as well, but i dont really think it is impossible to get there even if lulu starts the journey with the intentions to sell martin at the highest price - it just means that moment comes a little later. The reason i like giving him ulterior motives is that it forces us to give him a change of heart. It's not really enemies to lovers but its close enough, you know? And this change of heart can come in those quiet moments, when he's taking care of martin and rambling and then realizes martin can understand him, and that he's sweet and charming and- it's really not fair what luciano is doing, posing as caretaker just to sell him later, maybe he doesn't have to do it, maybe he doesn't to prove anything, etc.

And it isn't really mutually exclusive to Luciano wanting to stop being a pirate, maybe its a want vs need thing, he WANTS to show his mother he could do it if he wanted to but he NEEDS to leave that live behind and stop playing by her rules. Or maybe he wants the money to escape and start a life somewhere, either way, it's doable.

i think in this option 3 motivation it's best for them to stay on ports ship for a longer time anyway, so agree on that too. To make things more complex for lulu, maybe at first he doesn't want to kill nor sell martin out kindness and pity, he confronts his mother, she insists they will do it no matter what he thinks, and they have a really bad fight in which she says some things that really anger lulu to the point that this 'want' of proving her wrong is triggered and he changes his mind about martin. He wont let the crew sell the merman, he'll do it himself, and for the full price. He lies just like you said, hides martin and claims he disposed the body, which makes his mother even angrier and him even more motivated. But then we get the healing and the change of heart, in the course of I'm guessing at least a month considering how badly injured martin is. So luciano changes his mind back again, but just in time for the crew to find out what he's been doing all along.

(To add one more hard turn, if you wish, we can further complicate this by making the consequences not only lulu's and martin's, but also port's. The crew is furious at lu from "stealing" from them, and they see it as port's fault. It's her child, her failure, and even if she promises lulu will be punished, they all know it will never be with the harshness the crime entails. So they might demand that luciano's punishment is decided collectively by the crew, who decide to punish lulu with idk torture execution that kind of stuff, and sell martin the moment they arrive on dry land. To stop this, we get port helping lulu and martin escape, so it's a sort of resolution to their conflict? she might be angry but she's not letting her son be tortured, and she's a valuable ally to their daring escape attempt. I do think this scenario might over complicate things while also solving everything too soon, but i'll throw it here anyway in our 'maybe' pile in case you're able to make something out of it)

application one: dream walking — the ability of walking into ones dream, without any physical consequences. it is deeply related to dream communication. each mind and thus each dream is different and kangwoo has to adjust himself to each mind, which is difficult to do. although dream walking is easy to do as he only has to understand the surroundings of the dream, it does not mean he actually takes part of it. he is little more than a tiny glitch in the dream that the owner does not notice, nor does kangwoo have any effect on the dream.he has no qualms of entering one’s dream but he is not curious to what the details entail, unless important information is needed, and is easier to acquire through dreams than through direct hacking or stealing.

application two: dream communication — the act of sending messages whether its visual, written or “verbal” through dreams. in this case, kangwoo has to be relevant and be part of a dream to be able to communicate with the owner of the dream. kangwoo finds this the most useful side of his ability, especially in his own case. as he finds it extremely hard to socialize in reality (although one cant deny he is trying his very best to communicate). another side of this particular application is giving tiny notions towards a certain individual to act a certain way and it works exceptionally well with superstitious people.

application three: dream world manipulation — the most complex and difficult of the three, which involves more effort than the other two. it often surrounds the unwanted change of the dreamscape of the owner. however, it is not possible to just change the entire concept at will. often it involves soft unnoticeable pushing of the manipulator onto the dreamer. however kangwoo can change aspects of the dream to what he wants–as long it is relatable to the concept. the reason he has to keep the concept in general is that sudden changes in dreams can cause the individual wake up.

overall strengths and weaknesses:

– the brain is a curious thing, and such are the memories and dreams as well. dreams are the collecting and sorting part of your brain and is essential for your memories. thus it forms one of the cores of a healthy mind and the deepest part of yourself. entering a dream is an easy thing, but being relevant for a dream is difficult. he has to build himself entirely into the pool of memories each person has. it gets easier the lower your EQ is however. one gets less personal with each piece of memory and it makes it easier to choose select imageries to build yourself in and erase yourself out. – kangwoo cannot stay long outside the individual dreamscape. the information base is quite large and although a human brain can store an infinite amount of information, it cannot do at the same time, causing an intense headache. – he cannot stay in the dreamscape of an individual when the individual is waking. his own psyche is still connected with the other mind, and tearing away from it can cause extreme pains, not physically but mentally. – he cannot have dreamless nights unless he ingests sleeping pills which causes sleep without dreams. the pills are not used to sleep, but to sleep without dreams, as “dreaming” in itself is in fact wearing kangwoo out. because when he dreams, his consciousness is still awake, and he still does not know how to shut himself off from the information given. – kangwoo’s low emotional intelligence makes it easier for himself to simply invade ones deepest intimate places, and not be distracted or overwhelmed by ones feelings in a dream.

the first mother always told him that his father died before he was born. but he knows she’s lying but he doesn’t pry. what he doesn’t know is that when his mother held him, coated in a crimson layer in her porcelain arms and shedding watery pearls on him, his father was sentenced for eighteen years for a manslaughter he didn’t commit.

the second it takes her two years to realize that there is something wrong with kangwoo. whenever she calls him, he never reacts. whenever she coos to him, he never understands. he never shows interest in conversations between other children. and he never said one word.kangwoo’s grandparents keep pushing her to bring him to the doctor, but she keeps refusing. her son is perfect, there’s nothing wrong with him. she keeps telling herself, but she knows she’s lying to herself.  in the end her parents bring their grandson to the doctor, and the lady clad in white tells the elders that kangwoo was born without sound. he lives in complete silence and he doesn’t know any better.  hawon doesnt want to believe but she was forced to accept it. but she didn’t want her son to live in absolute silence. she didn’t want her son to be different from the others, just like his father. and she applies him to a program to have him receive a cochlear implant.

the third the screeching sound scares him. he keeps throwing the extern part of the implant away, away from the sound, but his mother puts it back every time with patience. and he throws it away again.  but mother doesn’t want a child different from others. in time he gets used to the sound, and learns to differ it. the warmth of his mothers voice, the colors of his own voice. the crisp rustling of leaves and the light songs of birds.

the fourth primary school isn’t nice to him. whereas kindergarten was a paradise of playing, primary was harsher. not in terms of knowledge, no. classmates his age avoid him, for his strange voice and incapability of hearing properly. it doesn’t take long before some boys have the notion to humiliate him.     turnpoint one:

each table has a storage space under the desk where students stuff their books whether its organized or not. it’s also an easy way to let someone know you’re unwanted. kangwoo, instead of feeling the hard cover of books and rustling of pages, feels something soft. he quickly pulls out his hand, revealing several dead rats.  and all he does is screaming.

    turnpoint two:

sometimes he has to take off his cochlear implant. always when they go swimming. sometimes he returns, to find his implant gone and it’s always found back in the pool. kangwoo always tells his mom that it accidentally slipped out of his hands each time.

    turnpoint three:

once, out of a joke from their viewpoint his classmates destroyed the extern part of his ci. they were curious how it works and despite kangwoo’s protesting they simply broke it open.  he had to lie to his mother that it fell.

the fifth middle school wasn’t easy either, as well as high school. they are both located in the village and it isn’t like his tormentors are going to move to another school. but he did expect the bullying become worser but he doesn’t to what extent. he just knew they wouldn’t leave him alone.      instance one:

it was rather big news in the village, where nothing happened at all. it spread like wildfire from mouth to mouth, from one serpentine tongue to another forked tongue. the only thing kangwoo remembers is the white ceiling of the hospital, his head and arm wrapped in bandages, and several fractured ribs. his mother sitting next to him teary eyed, telling him he got into a car accident. that kangwoo stumbled forward, colliding in a car. a gnawing sense on kangwoo’s heart tells him otherwise.

    instance two:

they forced him to drink gas oil. naturally kangwoo refused, terrified for the consequences of ingesting oil. instead they threaten to burn him, with the cigarettes they have. up until now they still haven’t healed, and won’t ever heal.

the sixth he barely made it into college in seoul. all he wanted was to get away from the tiny village leaving behind the horrible memories and humiliation.  (but of course memories never leave) he wasn’t nice or good, but he wasn’t bad or awful either. simply emotionless. he didn’t know how to deal with social relationships and rather wanted to avoid interaction, in fear the whole history would happen again.  but there are always people trying to connect with everyone.      a scene:

there’s a huge canteen in that college which always delivers high quality drinks and food for an acceptable price and many students come there to hang out and eat. kangwoo usually eats alone, a instant lunchbox from the convenience store. sometimes someone comes to sit with him, but this one man lately always came to sit with him, trying to strike a conversation and he slowly learns how to talk with kangwoo. and he starts to treat lunch with kangwoo and always refuses to let kangwoo pay for it.

thanks to that one person, kangwoo’s circle slowly grows bigger, and his world slowly expands. yet there’s always that one single dark fear growing in the back of his mind, although he loves his friends, he can’t trust them, doesn’t dare to be close.  its only when his very first friend tells him that he needs help, that kangwoo realizes that he has festering wounds inside his soul.

the seventh

it was one of the prettier nights he’d seen. well so far seouls skyline allowed him to see the falling stars in the sky.

POST-MUTATION

the first

the dreams were real, lucid, terrifying. located in a forest he didn’t know. and he was pushed towards a location he wasn’t supposed to know but somehow knew and he came across a meteorite.  the nights after was a kaleidoscope of too many impressions, too many scapes too much information and he always woke up screaming, fingers clutching at his head, trying to tear out his hair in an attempt to lessen the pain in his head.

the second he only realized that he could stop the pain by anchoring himself to one single image. a month passed, until he discovered. rather oblivious to what happened he started to explore the image.

“who are you?” a tiny voice arose from behind him, making kangwoo yelp in surprise, causing a sudden tear in the fabric, as the one who dreamed woke up from the sudden change in her dream. it caused another shearing pain in kangwoo’s mind.

the third half a year later, he understood the basics around his strange dream affliction, but he didn’t know what it meant until he accidentally anchored himself into his friend’s… wet dream. let’s not repeat the story here. it made him realize he was going through dreams of others, and not his own. around that time, he suddenly received the notice that his psychologist had changed.

the last it wasn’t just a psychologist. the man in front of him asked him strange questions. “are you having strange dreams?” “are you seeing dreams that you never would have?” “are you in full control of yourself in your dreams?” "are you having extreme headaches whenever you wake up?” not knowing how to answer, kangwoo simply said yes to questions like these.

it turned out to be the ar collective.  he simply asked him if he wanted to join, to have him practice and train his in dream habits, reducing the splitting headache to something more comfortable. it suprised kangwoo himself that he agreed onto it.

once again it was a world he wasn’t used to. people seemed closer, more similar to him than those in college. his dreamwalking was very effective for information collecting. he never exactly asked for what they were, nor were he interested.

however, for the first time in his life he felt useful. … lately there are many good first times.

chance encounters and attractions at first sights and meet cutes are great, but all that is nothing, compared to the normal meetings. the kind where you say hello stranger, the kind that becomes hello i see you're here again wow, the kind that goes oh turns out we'll regularly be stuck with each other. the story of circumstance somehow bringing you closer and closer together. in fanfic this would be the slow burn? is it a slow burn? does that count? perhaps.

meet cutes are sudden, unexpected, and yet somehow it is expected that it has to go somewhere. right away. but with mere circumstance, everything just progresses at a steady pace, where you go from acquaintances who just happen to frequently encounter each other, to friends, to friends that intentionally hang out w each other --

im just here for that slow development, that possibly way overused cliche of the slow realization that hey, oh my god, everything's just growing and now could it be something more? it's that tswift narrative still, that best friends becoming more trope, and i would like to argue that it is these sorts of relationships, the kinds where the foundation is completely pure and honest and not trying, that are the best kinds because you do get to see less filters when the getting to know stage wasnt with the intention of getting into the other's pants.

you know what i want? i want to keep hanging out with someone, and get so used to the just being with that someone, and be real friends with that someone. and something like watching a movie together, and how he'd take your hand, and somehow in that moment, you know, that this is the point where you might be breaking the friendship boundary. how i would say, you know we probably should talk about this. and the conversation would revolve around the risk that being 'more than friends' would entail, but how beautiful it is because really, you saw a side to this person that you would never have seen if the set up from the beginning was a landi.

what do you want out of this, why now, is this for real -- things i would probably want to clarify. i would probably admit, you know, i am not averse to the possibility... with emphasis on the ellipsis..... longer pauses. suggestive. we could... try... or not. like, not try too hard, you know, let's not make this too awkward.

you'd start with taking my hand. you would know what i like, i would too. we talked about this before, back when everything was open and friendly conversation. it may or may not have been the dropping of hints part. there is the awkward. the walks that used to be filled conversation about anything and everything become silence. is it because you've run out of things to say?? there is this recognition that this time, the set up changed. how does one navigate all this, i would wonder. one would break the ice, pretend that nothing changed... because really, nothing much changed, except the feelings are now out in the open.

the people around you were probably secretly shipping you. probably knew it before you did. were waiting for it. wondering if the narrative is going to be the totga kind. there is going to be relief that gahd finally.

you know i would really like the discreetness of everything. that way you would lightly brush your fingers against mine when we walk. or how this time, when we cross the street, you hold onto my arm or lay your hand on my shoulder as if to guide me. or maybe one time, in a rush to cross a busy street you would just. take my hand. like some kdrama scene. little beginnings.

the hangouts become dates. how you become slightly more protective, because this time things are clearer. they're okay. yes, you can act that way. standing inside a crowded mrt, and how i no longer hang onto the metal poles, but on your arm. how you steady me during those moments of inertia with that sudden arm around my waist, and you would have retreated almost immediately if not for me, hand on yours, keeping that arm in place. because yes i want that there.

how easy things are really, all that needs to be done is to spend time with each other, just hang out. together. activities we have always enjoyed with each other. we would bingewatch movies together while sipping some homemade cocktail, and end up napping while cuddling together. all this in private ofcourse. you know how everything just becomes comfortable, and actually it is so easy to be truly comfortable with this person, because you did start out as friends. it's pretty much the same thing, except this time you're seated closer to each other, you're cuddling, you're holding hands...

...i would take a moment to lean my head onto your shoulder, something i never would have done if we were just friends. i would probably be brave? daring? enough to kiss your hand. that's the only first kiss move i would be willing to take. who knows. but of course i would like it a lot if you move in slowly. everything in slow motion, learning as one goes. fingers tangling in your hair, that slight giggle, i know im messing up your hairstyle, i dont care you're cute anyway haha. pause.

theres the realization that kissing involves hands touching the other's face, and for once you dont care about that breakout, because he doesnt care, and it just happens. the fingers let go of the hair, stay wrapped around his neck, while his move down, slowly, tentatively, down to your waist. how i would pull closer, my hands gripping your shirt by the collar...

My boyfriend is not listed on my insurance because he has a company vehicle that his boss lets him drive. Anyway today he decided to take my car to go pick up our daughter from school. As he was backing up he backed up a little too quick and hit one of the teachers car. He said he looked out the window and saw there wasn't any damage and took off right away. All it did to our car was literally chip the paint but I wasn't sure what he did to the other car. Anyway I was out shopping later this evening and got a phone call from my partner stating that the cops were at our house and wanted to see my insurance slips and ownership. So I went home and gave them all the information. They ended up letting my husband go on fleeing the scene of a accident but gave him a $110 fine for failing to report the incident. Now here's what I am wondering, I have to call my insurance company tomorrow and notify them that he was driving my car and let them know all the information but I'm unsure what will happen? I can almost guarantee that my insurance will go up but is there any regulations about hitting a parked car within a private parking lot? I know that if she decides to go through the insurance company (which I'm sure she is because she gave all her information to the cop) then I was told I am able to request that she gets 3 quotes from 3 different places so that she doesn't try to stiff me and go for the most expensive. The cop also told me that I have the option to call her and maybe see if she will take cash but I know this teacher and she is one of the worst teachers I have ever met so I highly doubt she will be so accepting of the money. The cop also told us that he went to go view the damage on her vehicle and he said the front number was cracked so it would need to be replaced. He said it's not extensive damage at all but damage nonetheless. What is my best bet in this situation? I am screwed either way? I need to renew my car insurance in the next few days but I am also moving to a new address in under 3 weeks time. This new address offers me much cheaper car insurance. I don't use my car much and can do without using it all for 3 weeks. If it is parked on the road and fully taxed is it a legal requirement to insure the vehicle even if it isn't used. I can live with it being stolen or damaged but I wouldn't want to be fined for being uninsured. The only problem with insuring the vehicle under my current postcode is that I'm at the whim of the insurance companies to what discount they offer me when I actually move. All the insurers I have phoned can't guarantee a fixed price for the new postcode if I register my the policy under my current postcode for the first 3 weeks. A couple days ago I was driving to a doctors appointment, I was rushing and very nervous. I got to a road that was closed where I had to back up. I looked behind me and saw no cars. He said the public option will work the same way public colleges and Universities without inhibiting a vibrant system of private colleges and Universities. This is a fool's argument and a total apples to oranges comparison. Let me explain, first almost all private universities receive funding from the federal government. The federal government is not going to provide funding for private insurance. The second reason is it's common knowledge that the best Universities in the U.S. are private schools such as Duke, Stanford, and the Ivy League. These universities fill most of the highest paying jobs in the country. Some jobs even go as far as to require a degree from one of these schools (Stock Brokers on NYC Stock Exchange.) These highly paid graduates can donate larger amounts of money back to their respective colleges than the average Joe who graduated from a generic state funded university. No one is going to donate money to the private insurance companies. We can't even get all the people who qualify for insurance to sign up and that's the problem! Look, I have no way of knowing whether the public option will work or won't but when faulty logic is used to support it I become concerned. When most of the people supporting the public option are from California (a state where the middle class is few and far between) I become more concerned. When most of the Senators and Representatives who support the public option say they would prefer the U.S. had a single payer system (that's total government control of health care if you didn't know) I become very concerned. The reality is no one knows what the effects of public option will be. Also, the success of FedEx is not any proof that public option won't hurt private companies because an independent council regulates the mail industry.
