The cannibalism twist is a nice touch! Question, the feral things seem to be very strong and clearly don’t mind eating trolls for their survival, I’m wondering then why did they Branch become leader if he is generally “weaker” then them? Did he do something specific to earn the respect of the ferals? Also what happened to the past leader?

There have been past leaders in the feral village. There was a leader when Branch was brought to the village they weren’t to….fond of Branch…(everyone saw Branch as just Things pet for a while ) They only allowed Branch to stay because Thing didn’t kill him and they know Thing would kill anything they come across, if Thing thought Branch was deserving to be spared then so be it.

Everyone looked down on Branch because he was “weaker” (mostly from being a grey malnourished 7 year old troll) After like a week of Thing treating Branch as a fragile pet Branch had enough and decided to try and prove himself to the ferals…

He earned their respect throughout the years. After living in the village for a couple weeks he started creating traps that started catching more and more critters in the more dangerous regions(which was very helpful for the ferals as it saved them time and resources) When he started getting his “health issues” handled (the baby’s no longer borderline starving 🤩 YAY!!) He proved to be a good fighter. After the village started gaining more and more trolls (since Branch did a lot for the village they decided to keep letting trolls come to see if they could help as much as Branch did) Branch was able to prove he was the better hunter than almost all of the grey trolls (mostly because he’s been fighting more then singing and dancing for years at this point unlike the other grey trolls) Eventually he was well respected in the village thanks to how much he improved the village, he was no longer looked down on instead he was seen as an equal to the feral trolls.

Eventually the old feral leader died after going missing (as much as the feral trolls have their “we’ll never die” complex they aren’t the strongest when they’re completely alone, it’s why they hunt in packs/squads) and someone else needed to be in charge (usually they make the strongest the leader) but they decided to go with Branch since he’s done so much for the village and all its inhabitants. Soon Branch made Thing his second in command and they’ve been in charge ever since.

I love the idea that Bruce takes the Batfam on hikes outside of Gotham, and puts up with the arguing over who goes in what car, packs everyone's favourite snacks, will race with the other car if enough passengers in his egg him on. Bruce generally stays ridicuously quiet while the kids jabber enough to alert everything living in the woods near them but will weigh in once the kids debate who's strong enough to wrestle a bear, chime in on unsolved hiker cases, build fires, and carry anyone that gets tired, all while sneaking awful pictures of them.

Phoenix and Hangman as Friends-In-Law

AU where Phoenix is with Javy and Jake with Bradley. Phoenix still pretends she doesn't like Jake that much and only deals with him on accounts of being her best friend's husband and her husband's best friend. They are not friends, only friends-in-law.

Both Coyote and Rooster have retired from active duty and have civilian jobs for the Navy, more family friendly 9 to 5s so they can take care of their respective kids.

Phoenix is climbing the ladder Ice-fast, racking up promotions and being highly regarded by everyone.

Hangman is on a very Maverick-like path: he is an unbelievable pilot, but an absolute nuisance that talks back to just about every admiral and pulls insane stunts in the air.

Since they are friends-in-law, Phoenix becomes, in spite of herself, his guardian angel, trying her best to keep him in the cockpit and not have him stripped of his wings. She knows he is a talented pilot, but will never admit it to his face.

Every once in a while Bradley would get a phone call at a weird time of the day and he knows he is in for a forty minute screaming rant from his best friend about YOU KNOW WHAT THAT DAMN HUSBAND OF YOURS DID THIS TIME?!, to which he would patiently listen to whilst starting to bake Phoenix's favourite cake. A couple of hours later he will arrive at the Trace-Machado household where an amused and resigned Coyote is waiting for him and whatever delicious dish he has brought to make sure Phoenix doesn't make a widower out of him.

touya doing something dumb and yn tells him to sleep on the couch for one night. it's only at 2am where touya appears in the doorway of his and yn's room like "i'm cold. let me cuddle you." yn begrudgingly letting him cuddle in the bed while (affectionately) calling him an asshole.

this happens every time he's banished to the couch.

kei does the same thing, but he kneels next to the bed right by yn's face, giving the biggest puppy eyes known to mankind
