there are so many things in Strahd's "how to do combat good" section I want to pick at but let's start with some of my notes on his spell list

Mage Hand: Sometimes Strahd is lazy and doesn't want to pick things up. Combine with Greater Invisibility for shenanigans.

Prestidigitation: This is for instantly cleaning whatever drink some PC has tried to throw in his face.

Ray of Frost: The damage is ok but more importantly as long as he hits, the target's speed is reduced by 10 with no save, very nice.

Comprehend Languages: If my party gets clever and tries to talk in code or something I think he can pop this off to fix that.

Fog Cloud: Imposes disadvantage to attack for everyone in the cloud, does technically break line of sight. so against a higher-level party I think this is to give his allies a chance to get out of melee without having to waste an action disengaging (still a gamble), or use this if he's out of Invisibility, or toss this in a room the party is trying to bunker up in, forcing the party to decide between sitting in a disadvantage cloud, wasting time dispelling it, or leaving their safe space.

Sleep: On the worst possible roll and aimed at only one target, this is guaranteed to affect a creature with 5HP or less. It averages about 20-22HPs but that number's not assured. Best use is putting someone on watch to sleep at early levels, or targeting low HP NPCs where he actually wants to avoid doing damage, like Ireena.

Detect Thoughts: Fantastic for interacting with NPCs in a non-violent encounter but it's an obvious casting and only lasts for 1 minute so he's got to be strategic about casting ahead of time.

Gust of Wind: Priority should go to Mirror Image because Gust of Wind is not guaranteed to succeed, but if a player is dumb enough to stand within 10 feet of a 100ft drop I say go off queen (off the side of a building, GOODBYE)

Mirror Image: CAST ASAP the only thing worse than one Strahd laughing at you is four Strahds laughing at you and it's not a concentration spell.

Animate Dead: listen everything at 3rd level is going to have to compete with Fireball. but possibly might be worth it to give him something to do with his bonus action if Animate Objects isn't working out. skeleton with a ranged attack and partial cover is better than zombie that'll get ripped apart in melee immediately. he's got to keep that skelly within 60ft though. and if the party takes Counterspell it's.... listen this slot's probably going to get used for Fireball.

Fireball: FIGHT OPENER. CAST CENTERED ON SELF. EAT 30 DAMGE FOR BREAKFAST. FALL THROUGH THE FLOOR LAUGHING. HE DOESN'T GIVE A SHIT WELCOME TO HELL MOTHERFUCKERS IT'S FIREBALL. but seriously cast early when the floor isn't crawling with allies and then reserve one 3rd level spell slot for when the party has killed off most of his allies. doesn't require line of sight so he can cast this from a separate floor.

Nondetection: Might use this if the party gets tricky or he needs to hide something he stole from them but on Boss Fight Day this slot goes to Fireball and that's just how things have to be.

Blight: I mean this is basically Fireball with worse range, only one target, and it makes all your houseplants die.

Greater Invisibility: God the shenanigans I could get up to with Invisible Strahd. Oooh the possibilities. Ooooh they're so delicious. Anyway fuck yeah this spell rocks. Get out of sight, go invisible. Think Rahadin is bad? Now he's invisible! NIGHTMARE HORSE? WHAT HORSE? I LOVE THIS SPELL OK

Polymorph: I want to love polymorph but if they make their wisdom save you've wasted a slot you could have used to make yourself invisible. I can't even pretend he'd be gay and use this to help Rahadin one of his nebulous allies turn into a bird to get away from certain death or something bc it's a concentration spell so if the spell drops early it's like well fuck he got 50ft and then turned back into a guy :/ He ain't above turning a low-level PC into a bat though. That'd be fun.

Animate Objects: POP OFF IMMEDIATELY get that action economy on your side, animate a gargoyle, a suit of armor, and like 6 candelabras you tacky bitch. Again, gives him a bonus action and as long as he stays within 120ft he's solid. Earlier is better because later in the fight he needs that concentration for Greater Invisibility.

Scrying: I mean non-combat obviously but he's using this every damn day to spy on the party through NPCs he's familiar with that he knows are near the PCs, or locations he knows they're staying in. I'm sure that's his like, before-bed routine. Brush his teeth. Exfoliate. Scry on the party. Soothing.

Carol Cutshall better get an Emmy this year, I ain't playin!

"Cutshall and her team had to embrace a new reality, one initially devoid of the first season’s material pleasures..... "It was such a drastic change going into season two. We went from the height of glamour, which we last saw during a Mardi Gras party, to the polar opposite in the premiere. When you look at Louis and Claudia in their shearling coats in Romania and the amount of mud and blood on them, those looks are built for surviving and searching and starting over."

This what I meant when I talked about AMC intensifying the horror for show!Claudia vs book!Claudia. They're starting over, runaway slaves free at last from Massa Lestat's domestic terrorism; following the Drinking Gourd north to the promised land of milk & honey--but their exodus isn't some glorious adventure--it's Hell on Earth!

I adore the juxtaposition Carol makes between the obscene opulence of Mardi Gras NOLA vs the Grimm realities of war-torn Europe. Book!Lou&Claud traveled across Europe in a lavish carriage Claudia picked out, and had the luxury of taking their fancy coffins with them in it.

NGL I was hoping Carol would talk about these outfits in particular:

AMC's Lou & Claud look like they've been sleeping underground/in a battlefield, dressed in animal skins/furs--not the fancy furs PETA jumps folks for, but nasty Caveman Couture rags. And I can't help but think about the furs they wore in the film, looking rich AF, even as Lou complained about how sad he was. 🙄😒

So I am SO IN LOVE with AMC sending Louis & Claudia to WWII Europe. They're in Ploiești/Romania in 1941--in the book they're in 1800s Varna/Germany. Romania was a major ally for the Nazis in WWII, and the LAST place Claud should be--let alone Louis (a gay Black African American man)--let alone because Romania was bombed TF up in the early 1940s.

They're running slow AF like regular humans--no super vamp speed at their disposal to flee from the bombs--cuz they've been STARVING. They're eating the dead like a bunch of ghoulish necrophages (come through, Witcher 3 folklore!).

Like, in the film the big idea was that drinking dead blood could kill a vampire. But in TVL & Blood Communion we know that's not the case when Lestat drinks the corpses Armand gave him, and when Lestat gives the Vampire Court Rhoshamandes' corpse--it's not deadly, but it's not great, either. Drinking blood should be PEAK sensory pleasure; but this just shows what they've been reduced to.

So to see Louis & Claudia tearing into pieces of the dead to suck up what's left is like cannibalism at its rawest, basest & most primitive--straight out of a dystopian zombie apocalypse. There's no transcendent power in the dead like what Maharet & Lestat described. Lou & Claud are scavengers in a battlefield, fighting for scraps just to survive and endure, but not really live.

And I feel so much worse for Claudia, cuz she LITERALLY didn't ask for this mess! Unlike Louis--and unlike book/film!Claudia--she was Born into Darkness w/out her awareness or consent. AMC puts this poor girl through HELL. The things she's seen & experienced made her "built for survival;" but she's also "built like a bird," and just as ignorant about vampires & the Old World as Louis--though they're both bookish intellectuals who THINK they're ready for Europe.

So they have no effing idea, cuz Lestat never told them WHY Europe was such bad news. They're blind and completely in the dark!

And then they FINALLY arrive in Paris--a breath of fresh air after the war.

But glamour returns to their lives as the pair forge ahead in Paris.... Seduced by their habit of living loudly and proudly — at least at night — Louis relaxes into his post-Lestat life, taking up photography and exploring his sexuality in subtle ways. “The look I landed on for him was that of artists and café society, and French workwear with a little bit of a blue-collar look,” Cutshall says. “It’s not the finery that we are used to for Louis, but his fastidiousness in how he wears it — tucked and belted — is still there.” There is a visual hierarchy among these old-world vampires. Louis wears the costume of the common man, placing him below the coven’s creative director, Armand, the so-called love of his life"

The "visual hierarchy" of Louis being "placed BELOW" the Old World vampires had me vibrating in my seat, especially wrt Armand, the biggest baddest boogeyman vs fledgling vampires in the books.

"We want to break away from the disguise he had in season one, because he is the mega predator,” Cutshall says. “He's not threatened by anyone. So, in everything he does and wears, he can be like an animal who is not afraid to lie on their back and bare their belly."

Which is precisely what I said about Lestat in his Mardi Gras dress & his Matador pajamas. Cuz Lou & Claud are constantly put on the exact same level--at the BOTTOM of the food chain & the gendered/social hierarchies of vampire covens in both NOLA & Europe.

But what's interesting's that AMC diversified the Theatre--there's Black & Asian vampires, not the all-white coven from the books.

The Theatre has truly become a microcosm of the entire world, highlighting just how sheltered Lou & Claud were in the New World. The history of America is very black and white--or rather: white versus black. After the Native Americans were wiped out, American racism molded & shaped centuries of slavery & oppression specifically designed to keep Black people at the bottom of barrel, even when they were "freed/emancipated." But in the Old World, power & conquest was continental--Africa & Asia & Europe were ALL major superpowers at one time or another, kicking each other's arses. Race & racism still plays a huge part in European imperialism, OF COURSE, but WWII showed how white folk are just as prone to killing & oppressing each other, let alone anyone else. 😂 Louis & Claudia's problems w/ Lestat are radically different from their problems w/ Armand (now a brown Asian, as Russia & Ukraine are also globalized; dispelling the myth about Russians only ever being white people).

But Santiago's an altogether different beast--but eerily familiar.

You can feel him striving for that."

What is fundamentally wrong with Santiago (and Lestat) is that he's a HUGE showboat, desperate for attention & validity, specifically from LOUIS, a vampire older than Santiago, attractive & new & interesting, who's approval he actually wanted & expected. But Louis's too mature/smart for Santiago, and immediately clocked him as a clown and a BUFFOON.

AMC dyed Santiago's hair blonde on purpose, ISTG, cuz the parallels w/ Lestat are hilarious. Armand's the coven master & creative director, but Santiago's the emcee & "show pony," just like Lelio!Lestat was back in the day. Les' pony on meth meme is SO apt!

And just like Lestat pulled the rug under Armand at Les Innocents, taking on a leadership role for the Children of Satan and ushering in their new era as vampires who'd join society via the Theatre, Santiago usurps Armand's position as the ringleader against Claudia & Louis. Even though Armand wanted all that to happen, he's more passive than Les & Santiago, far more active & dominant despite being significantly weaker & younger in the Blood than Armand. Wolf Killer Lestat and "top dog" Santiago are cut from the same cloth, down to the pinstripes--which Carol already said were supposed to symbolize cage/jail bars--"back in your cage, sweetheart."

tara carpenter: lesbian or bisexual? the one chara i kinda can't pin down bc tbh hell if i know. it really depends on the day imho. all i know is that tara is a girlkisser. whether or not that's exclusive is entirely up in the air. i think she's closer to bi in the films themselves, but i also interpret her as lesbian for sm AUs atp. so it truly is either or bc either direction works. nuance/i'm bald/etc.

sam carpenter: bisexual. of the variety where her taste in women isn't bad in the slightest, but her taste in men is unspeakably cursed. i think it's even either way, it's just entirely luck of the draw that she's ended up with more men than women. sometimes you have awful taste in dudes bc ur fighting demons (ur yassified ghost serial killer dad who lives in ur head) okay.

richie kirsch: straight and not an ally. idt he's really homophobic, he just wouldn't really 'get' it. also does not conflict w my other HCs for him because i think he is just an opportunist. his interest is 100% in chicks, he's just also a horndog and so if the chance presents itself... eh! doesn't mean he has any genuine interest in guys, though. def would not seriously date one. a body's a body n that's abt it.

chad meeks-martin: heteroflexible. in a very andrew garfield sort of way. mostly into girls and pretty much exclusively dates them, but he is nothing if not open-minded! another situation of 'it would just have to be the right dude'. idt he quite has the terminology for it but i think he knows his own deal.

liv mckenzie: bisexual. most likely has a male lean, IDs as fully straight because she has not put it together yet. she genuinely thinks it's just a normal thing that every girl has wanted to kiss another girl before. no biggie. even outside of my own oc x canon stuff w her, i fear she'd still be the type to have to figure it out by accidentally ending up in a horribly messy wlw situationship later on. god bless her.

anika kayoko: lesbian. again just canonically, so i really have nothing to say there. good for you babygirl until it WASN'T...

quinn bailey: bisexual. i think this is just another obvious one. no way is she 100% straight. granted, i think she also mostly leans towards men. it's probably, like, 80:20. but she's still not not also into women. i mean. come on.

ethan landry: straight ally. nothing against the gays (even if some of them aka mindy Annoy him. god bless.) honestly, less fully straight than he is specifically a 'one girl only' fiender but... i shan't continue to speak on that. also, same case as richie in that it doesn't conflict w my other HCs wrt him simply for the fact that genuine attraction towards other dudes was never even remotely a factor there LMAO.

danny brackett: straight ally. he also has an aggressively straight aura like there's just no way i can see him as anything else. feels like the kinda straight man that would have/at one point did greatly enjoy fast & furious like yk. My very first fanego based off of Ash from GtLive

Since EldritchPlier has a human friend/ally/follower, it’s only fair that LeviathanPat gets a mortal companion, too. (After all, I created him—along with Caliban and my other EgoPats—because I wanted some characters to parallel some of Mark’s egos.) This means Sol gets some sick bragging rights due to being one of very few humans who can hang out with L.P. without the risk of death or insanity.

Her friendship with L.P. revolves around The Abnormal Orchard, a macabre museum built on the primary portion of L.P.’s territory on Earth. On top of showcases a collection of preserved specimens and oddities (many of which are the results of L.P.’s “experimenting hobby”), it also doubles as a  horror/surreal art gallery (many of which come with some nasty old curses). 

In fact, Sol actually came to the museum before they ever even met L.P.. She inherited the property a couple months after the former owner—a relative of hers—died under very strange circumstances. (That’s a story for another day, but let’s just say professional morticians were…a little shocked. Flabbergasted, you might say. Bamboozled, even.) 

If you’ve read this story of mine, then you already know that L.P. was kept imprisoned in an underground cavern for at least a few millennia. However, despite all the distance between him and other living entities, he still had a strong psychological connection to his territory. So, of course, he can sense pretty much everything that goes on in/around The Abnormal Orchard. Meaning he sensed when Sol arrived. It didn’t take very long for her to hear his voice in her head while she moved into the private suite that was built close to the museum itself. 

Now, irl Ash is nothing if not the personification of “Be Gay, Do Crime” and Sol here is no different. Much like Cruz, they have a disturbing knack for being casual when faced with the supernatural. Only, Sol has even more unconventional energy when it comes to their projects. Enough unconventional energy to have ended up genuinely impressing L.P. (Yeah, that's right! Sol is the type to go for LEATHER JACKETS instead of CLOAKS for rituals!)

Interactions between the two of them were symbiotic at first, but that still managed to grow into legit casual bonding (as casual as you can get with an outer monstrosity, that is). All the while, L.P. decided to teach Sol the ins and outs of occultism, whereas Sol put rituals/offerings together for him.

When L.P. finally managed to escape his prison, the first thing he did (after taunting the unfortunate characters who released him by accident) was travel to The Abnormal Orchard and officially meet Sol in person, who welcomed him with open arms and helped him make a proper lair in the building's attic.

In the way of a ceremonial tool, Sol has a trusty flint-striker knife! Yes, it's smaller than Cruz's gut-hook skinner knife. NO, YOU SHOULD NOT UNDERESTIMATE IT BECAUSE OF THAT. It's absorbed plenty of paranormal juju from all of Sol's shenanigans; it can cut much, much deeper (and therefore draw much more blood) than you'd think. Oh, and its striking half can produce both simple sparks and lashing flames. Just depends on circumstance. (Also, Sol would totally go out of her way to use rainbow flint for the striking. Because, again: "Be Gay, Do Crime...")

Macaroon ain't the only vaguely cat-shaped monstrosity out here! Enter Charcoal: Sol's questionable emotional/moral support, based off of irl Ash's very own Charlie! Where Macaroon was a gift from E.P. to Cruz, Charcoal was a stray alley cat that L.P. guided Sol to find and take in. One complex-yet-strangely-wholesome ritual later, she learned that some cats out there have apparently evolved from DRAGONS. (Hey, c'mon, I've gotta keep a fire-theme going.) Since Charcoal is allowed to roam The Abnormal Orchard at pretty much all hours, he has a glamor to wear around humans other than his owner. But when it comes to rituals, black fur pulls away to reveal a dark scaled, horned, fire-breathing, wyvern-esque wing and barbed-tail having lil' beastie.

Their ritual protection mask is heavily inspired by this one I just happened to find one evening. Of course, I don’t want to plagiarize, so I had to make a few tweaks to the design-concept in my head. For one thing, the eye-holes would come with a pair of small glass lenses; that way, the user can still see without risk of going blind or having their eyes turn into baby-heads or whatever.  For another thing, rather than leather, the material would likely be painted porcelain or something similar—since irl Ash and Matt were both theater kids, I wanted to reference those classic masquerade costumes. And for a final thing, it comes with the outline of a mouth. Specifically speaking, a toothy mouth like the one of this other mask. Here’s the catch, though: Sol’s mask would have a combination of smile on the left side, and frown on the right side (again, to reference classic theater masks. Specifically Comedy and Tragedy).

How the fuck do you get coworkers to be normal about trans and gay people

My supervisor was giving me the run down on what to expect when I fly to the customer site this Sunday and then she lowered her voice and began explaining to me that the 'training guy is now a she but he use to be a he'

And I go at normal voice "oh so their transfem."

And my supervisor is like 'oh I just don't all the terminology for it'

And then she goes on to explain how the bages have little he/him she/her they/them stickers on them and how they are very particular about you getting them right and I'm thinking 'oh neat I'll get a he/him sticker then. Solidarity'

Last night I got off the most disheartening phone call with a friend I've known since we were pre-teens and my ex-husband on three way. The friend is who introduced me to my ex-husband. We chatted it up for a good while.

Then somehow the subject of gay and trans people came up. I thought I knew where my ex-husband stood because we used to talk about it when our kids were little. I thought he supported LGTBQIA+. The friend was getting sentimental, and my ex called him gay. Which was weird since my ex is very much in touch with his softer side and can be very expressive and passionate about his feelings. So, although I know it was a joke, I didn't think it was funny. The friend said [[his name redacted]] is not gay! I may be a lot of things but I ain't no [[explicit]]. I said, "even if you were gay, we would still have mad love for you." He again reiterates. "I ain't no muh fukkin' [[redacted]]" My ex says, "Bruh, chill out with all that. Gay people are cool." Then says, "I have gay family members and if my kids came out gay, I'd still love them anyway." Friend says "Nah nigga fuck that shit. I'd rather my son be dead then gay." My heart broke!! Then he proceeds to give a weak ass strawman argument as to they (whoever "they" is...) are trying to shove this agenda down our throats. I felt like I was teleported into a podcast full of hoteps and incels. I said, "I am pro LGBTQIA+ so I'm going to need you to shut the fuck up." Here is where it really took a turn for the worst. My ex-husband who I love dearly as a friend and co-parent partner says, "But I can't get with them trans muh fukkas. I gotta draw the line there." My heart was beating so fast at this point. We vacation together and everything, but now I don't know how to move forward knowing he's transphobic. Is this how white ally's feel when they have family members who are racist? Some time ago I said I would make a post about my opinion on various of the kuro characters' stance on the LGBTQA+ community so here It comes i guess. Gonna be a pretty long post I suppose.

Starting off with what may be a hot take: o!Ciel ain't homophobic or transphobic or anything. Yana may write him like that, but I feel like that's her problem and not his. It makes basically no sense with his character. He's just a dude trying to live his life and he canonically doesn't judge people for going against what society thinks should be the "norm" (His speech defending Snake in the Campania arc, to name one instance). He HIMSELF doesn't really follow the "norm" of a noble of that time period (Treats his human servants (so not Sebastian) like actual human beings and even family, doesn't seem to go to church or leave his house for fun much, hates socializing and going to parties). I personally even read him as aroace!

Plus he canonically read (or was at least knowledgeable about) Carmilla, wich I never read but from what I hear was gay Dracula before Dracula was invented.

That said, in modern era he WOULD make gay funtom merchandise for pride month only for the profit and not to stand by the gays. Not because he's homophobic, he just doesn't care about being so public in his support for the community if not for that sweet, sweet money. Tiny capitalist child. Awful little man.

Now, if you want to blame a Phantomhive for being homophobic...that's R!Ciel. An actually alive, not bizarre doll R!Ciel could be convinced of the LGBTQA+ community not being bad IF (and only if) his brother was a part of it and o!Ciel slowly educated him on what not to say or think. Like not even the knowledge that his father is the most bisexual person alive would convince him, he'd just live in denial. But we know that o!Ciel is sacred for him. "If brother says this, then it's the truth."

Bizarre doll R!Ciel is like those mums that go "I'm fine with gay people I just think that [insert extremely homophobic statement here]". He also says stuff like "The A in the LGBTQA+ community stands for Ally :)"

Lizzie is very nice and openly supportive, but WILL get sometimes flustered in front of two gay people being gay. She will also sometimes stumble and say something bad by mistake, but she immediately corrects her behavior as soon as she's explained that what she said wasn't right.

Tanaka? Complete Ally. No boomer behavior from the Grandpa ever.

Mei Rin? Ally. She is also a total lesbian who just hasn't come to terms with it yet, though. So for now she just says she's an Ally and moves on.

Finny is also an Ally who just doesn't get he's part of the community yet. He's aroace and doesn't know it.

Bard says he's an Ally, but the fact is that the only gay person he doesn't support is himself. Had his bi awakening after working with Sebastian at the Manor but denies it to himself like o!Ciel denies himself love and happiness.

Speaking of Sebastian, he's a very homophobic gay being. Not with himself. He knows he ain't straight and isn't upset about it. But if another person drops hints that they are, he's mad about it and WONT support them. Unless it's Agni. If it's Agni, he's EXTREMELY happy about it...

Agni is either Bi or a complete Ally.

Soma is the token straight friend. He's a complete Ally tho. Doesn't even hesitate. "Oh you're into men? That's cool! I'm into curry :)"

William is aroace and okay with that but he's also homophobic and transphobic.

Ronald is either Bi or another "token straight, ally friend"

Pale blue husky eyes, long-ish black hair (usually pulled back), short stature at 5'7", but actually pretty strong with muscles (He works with a lot of heavy machinery), very fair skin with lots of little moles, beauty mark under his lip.

Lots of scars from working with Gangs, most prominently, a long cut going from his left thigh, inner hip, up his back and ending over his right shoulder. Also has many playing card slices, hammer smashes, bullet scars, knife slashes, pretty much all the works you'd get in his line of work. Some of it can be played off as a work injury... others get covered up. Fortunately, most of it ain't on his arms. Though some are from his parents, like the cigarette burns on his palms.

You'll probably commonly see him in his tan jumpsuit and black tank top combo, though usually has the top half around his waist. Other times you'll see him in his brother's old hand me downs from highschool, very alternative looking.

My top three favorite video games to play have to be Baldurs Gate III, Overwatch, and Sims 3! Christmas is my ALL TIME FAVORITE HOLIDAY. It's connected to me in such a nostalgic way, and not really in a religious way at all. I start decorating in July <3 /j

(Vintage) toys I collect include, My Little Pony gen 1-4, Calico Critters, second-hand Precious Moments (because I don't support them lol,) Barbies, Furbies, Muppets, Sesame Street, and more!

As for hobbies, I make digital art, crochet, cross stitch, make Perler bead art, make stuff with air dry clay, repair old toys, and window shop tehe :3 I'd love to learn how to sew.

For "fandomy" interests, I'm currently into Baldurs Gate III, Ghost (band,) Smiling Friends, My Little Pony (gens 1-4,) and definitely more I can't think of. I'm also still super interested in the "classic" fandoms, (such as Sonic, Creepypasta, FNAF,) I just don't talk about them as much anymore. And if you're wondering how we haven't met, I was on Amino, not Tumblr yet <3 LMAO :3

I heavily dislike spiders, death, religion, excessive drug use, and bigotz <3

On a more personal note, I deal with a lotta dumb stuff that sets me back!! I'm on the spectrum, have BPD, chronic fatigue, severe OCD, and wayyy more dumb stuff. But!! I find posting on social media to be a fun way to cope here and there :)

Oohhh mama I've got the Adam Murray fankid (Cain) on the brain again. Have some thoughts (he's still a massive WIP that is trying to go along with whatever the canon decks at my face next, but here's the recents):

Okay, so, he IS now Evelin's kid too. Idk, it's symbolic and shit, and makes the most sense. They are the only couple in the series among the main characters, I believe, so...

This one's my fave. Making his parents pretty heavy duty Christians. But not like Carrie Christians, and more "We asked God to give us the perfect child and then we adopted you... What do you mean you want to be a boy, that isn't God's way??" Yeah, that. So, obviously having his Biblical knowledge, hating his parents, and not knowing what name to go by, he slaps on Cain for the time being. It's just to piss off his parents by naming himself after a murderer from the bible, because hey he's not getting it permanently, legally changed or anything. Though, he does turn out to really, really like it, unfortunately for his folks. (Also the fact that Cain killed Abel, his brother, and his deadname, Annabelle, has Abel basically in the middle... 👀 layersssss-)

He's basically the type of guy who would literally cry over spilled milk but then go through the most traumatising event known to man and just go "well, that sure was... a day."

I've also given him friends!! (Even though, with the way tmc seems to be going, the alternates might as well kill off all humanity by 2023, when this takes place, BUT–) I haven't thought of names. I considered biblical ones, but I'm not sure about finding ones that really fit deeper than just being from the good ol' bibble. One of them is your typical basic blonde white girl (who, admittedly, kind of starts off as one of those annoying allies. "I want a gay best friend!!" type of thing), the other one's a chubby video game nerd. They're an odd bunch, who somehow bonded over a shared chemistry project :)

This may change with the tmc plot or other stuff, but rn I've decided what makes the most sense is that Cain isn't technically an alternate and is actually just some guy. However, he is immune to alternates, as they can sense SOMETHING off about his vibes.

So, he was originally starting to develop before Catalyst came out, and I got the whole "he was found in a rubbish bin off the street" thing from a Jacqueline Wilson book I never even read (sue me, okay 💀). Essentially, Adam had no idea he was pregnant, his alt transformation triggered labour, he was already in so much pain from said transformation the labour also went completely missed, baby comes out, Adam has no idea what to think or feel. And, this all kinda depends on what Alex is gonna do next, but main idea for now is Adam gives bby to Thatcher and tells him to make sure he's (well, he'd say she because Cain was literally a newborn, but I'll say he because I feel that's right? Idk trans people can confirm or otherwise on that lol) cared for. Thatcher takes him to the hospital where he can be looked over and given to a new family (,:

Anyway! Sure, here they be. I'll go down in alphabetical class order.

As mentioned on the other post, Sanva Pe'tara is a lesbian trans woman, path of giants barbarian. She adores Lae'zel, that woman becomes the absolute love of her entire life. She had a pretty typical gith upbringing [swung her first greataxe by six, her first kill by age nine, the works] although her crèche wasn't blessed with the grand library that Lae'zel's crèche, K'lilr, had. She went to one of the caretakers of her crèche about her feelings around gender around age twelve, expressing how she was genuinely unhappy as a boy. Gith may be bloodthirsty but they ain't transphobes- so she was like "well, wanna be a girl instead?" and the rest is history for her. She just went by "Vee" for awhile until she decided upon her name, which she declared after coming of age and bringing back a mindflayer head. While her upbringing was the typical brutality for a githyanki, she is very sweet to her allies, although she disguises it as "high morale is good for warriors" lmao. Yeah sure Sanva, say that while brushing Shadowheart's hair and painting her nails XD

Terhi Lucidum is another, he's a gay trans man who's super into Gale. He struggled with an unaccepting family, and he met Jasmine, a blue dragonborn noble who helped him hatch a plan. They got fake married so he could safely cut contact with them, and they didn't have any legal say-so in his life. She gave him half her money in the divorce to do whatever he needed with because his family was not only shitty but they were also Very Broke™. That wasn't part of the deal, she just did that, saying he helped out with the fake marriage [her family also wouldn't shut up about her getting married to somebody] so it was only right she help him out too. They remain dear friends to this day. He chose his name, Terhi, from one of his ancestors who was a great warrior. He's a bit on the shy side but loves with his entire heart. He's a wildheart barbarian.

Next up is Tysha Ousseanea, who yes, is the one screaming in this team post lmao. She's a wild magic barbarian. Tysha was very young when she came out and socially transitioned, picking her name with the help of her dad who helped her look through name books and such until she found one she liked. Her mother- in the brief time Tysha was able to get to know her- gave her all kinds of outfits she liked and encouraged her every step of the way to be her authentic self. She ended up as a soldier because her mother- a powerful sorceress who also was in the army before she vanished- was her inspiration in many ways. Problem is she basically does a Leroy Jenkins™ every fight and somehow wins. Girl is a bit anxious because she tries to stealth into the goblin camp and then accidentally decapitates the gate guard. She's pretty clumsy and wishes she wasn't, but she tries her best. She's basically a whirlwind in fights her allies just take a step away from and let her do her thing. She's a massive darling though, her team finds it impossible not to love her. She smooches Shadowheart and Halsin- y'know, as a treat.

Eirlys here is pretty new and doesn't have much lore- she's a half-high elf, circle of stars druid. She's the cousin of my human swarmkeeper ranger, Jae- they're related via Eirlys' human father and Jae's mother, who are siblings. Eirlys is a Shadowheart smoocher through and through. Eirlys' name actually means "snowdrop" in Welsh, and she left home after coming out and deciding to become a druid. Not because her family wasn't supportive [they were], she just wanted to spread her wings and learn more about herself. Eirlys was fascinated by the snowdrop flower in her early training as a druid, hence her name choice. She loves nature as a whole, but is especially obsessed with flowers. She can list off flower facts for literal hours on end and identify them with a damn glance. Her earrings were a gift from her cousin Jae when she came to visit Eirlys after dropping by the city, so Eirlys never goes anywhere without them. They're very close, and she came out to Jae before she told her parents.

Raelia was of course mentioned before, but, here she be again! She's a circle of the land druid and a mephistopheles tiefling. And yes, She Pink™. She was orphaned very young and found herself alone in the forest, picked up by a beautiful silver dragon named Argenti Moondew, the head of a very small, very selective group of druids. Argenti's descendant, Frost [silver dragonborn druid I have], was the one who Raelia grew up with as they both had lost their families from such an early age. They grew up and learned together, and around seventeen, Raelia came out to Frost and the two stayed up all night stargazing together. Frost suggested the name, saying she combined a couple names she thought were cool. Raelis had a Big Gay Crush™ on Frost back then but also loved the name, so she quickly said she'd use it. They then told Argenti, who was more than supportive because she's a good dragon momma. They had a lil ceremony and everything for her. Raelia had actually gone to Baldur's Gate and gotten her top surgery before the mindflayers fucked everything up, hence the joke in the post back there lol. But it turns out the journey's a good thing- as Raelia knows Frost loves her as a sister, not the way she likes Frost, so this whole journey really helps her come to peace with that. And it helps her meet the real love of her life- Karlach.

Next up is Justine! She's a half orc, battle master fighter, who is a sweet woman with a strong sense of justice- hence her name! She wanted to embody the ideal, and have it guide her choices, hence her settling on the choice. Her father [on orc] was killed by humans, leaving her human mother grieving and her sister [Babette] to become a paladin and take an oath on vengeance to avenge their father. Justine worries her sister is being consumed by the need for revenge, and looks to more peacefully resolve everything and have those people face the consequences of their actions and not just like... kill them. She's pretty comfortable as she is and fairly feminine- enjoying makeup, dresses, doing her hair and the works- but is very comfortable in her own skin. She likes her voice, her body, the works. She's Justine, she's a woman, and she's happy just remaining herself without much [if any] medical transition. Her love interest is Wyll, I just feel they'd mesh well and be very sweet together.

Masae Freath is a seldarine drow and four elements monk. He was a noble in the underdark with his twin sister long before he knew, and they both despised drow society. The two decided to escape after Masae came out to his sister, and they KNEW Lolth's god awful society would never be safe for him to live as a man. So, they fled; and he's out, proud, and happy to be safe on the surface. Masae loves his sister and her half-drow daughter, Sola, and would do anything to protect them. Masae wears every scar- related to his transition or not- with pride and believes everyone should be able to be their most authentic self. He's very drawn to Gale, and while that's his L/I currently I may swap it lol. Depends on how his story goes when I put him in action!

This is Edmond Charity! He's actually the cousin of my lore bard, Lune Temperance, who doesn't even know she has any living family. Edmond knows she exists, but... it's complicated as to him going to talk to her. This is because he was raised in a cult of Loviatar, the goddess of pain, and his mother especially was a huge fanatic who kept him and his father very isolated from everyone outside the cult. So even though he knows Lune isn't in the cult, he's nervous about meeting people. Especially because his feelings about his mom are... complicated. But he finds his way to heal, and remind himself that life isn't just meant to be pain and nothing else.

This is Marigold Gemdrop, a human arcane trickster rogue and former florist. She lived in a small village with her fathers, tending to and selling the flowers they grew with little hints of magic to keep them extra healthy. However, a raid from a band of orcs, hobgoblins and goblins wiped the entire village out except Marigold- who managed to fake dead long enough for the raid to move on. She became rather... cynical after that, especially as no one seemed to care her entire village was just dead. Everything she knew and loved... gone. And nobody seemed to care. She chose her name based off her papa's favourite flower, which she too has come to deeply adore. Marigold actually found out she was trans kinda by accident, as she used a disguise as a "young, fair maiden" to break into a merchant's guild... and was like "wait why am I so happy being referred to as a woman??? ...O h." and the rest is history lmao.

This is Van'la Mir'kith- she's from the same crèche as Vetra, my githyanki war cleric of Vlaakith. Van'la is a blue dragonic ancetsry sorcerer who spent much of her life honing her magic abilities to become the strongest sorceress she could be. She and Vetra are close as sisters, even referring to each other as such, and endlessly support one another in all they want to do. Van'la was very particularly good at any martial arts in her life, and to the entire crèche's surprise, Vetra was the one who protected her. Thankfully Van'la's skills with magic made themselves clear quickly, and they kinda guessed she was trans when he first then she did was just "disguise self" to make herself appear as a girl. They just made it official after that and Van'la chose her real name. She hated her old name anyway.

aaaaaand last up of the group is Suvi Fragaria! She's a divination wizard from a family of artisans who make enchanted weaponry. Suvi pursued magic unrelated to her family's work, simply enjoying being in touch with the Weave and exploring the capabilities of magic, especially enjoying the divination school. She was sent to Baldur's Gate by her family to sell more of their weapons- with plans for her to further travel and eventually loop back- but... she loved it there! So now she happily lives in Baldur's Gate with a book shop she runs, and offers magic tutoring for a flexible price to anyone interested in learning magic. She's a big sweetie.

Idk HOW, but he grew to trust you.
