this is really inspired by a post someone else made but I can’t find it rn 😭😭 but hear me out okay

yes lisa frankenstein is a campy silly funny slasher romcom, and I ADORE it for that. but I’ve been thinking abt how it comments on the way society treats people with trauma, especially women, especially in past decades. the three major women each demonstrate different effects of that.

Lisa is the most obvious — we know what happened to her mom, and we see how everyone feels about her. hell, she tells us. nobody cares about her healing, they just want her to move on. (this also ties into themes of the original Frankenstein story; he wasn’t a monster, but everyone treated him like he was, so he became one.) instead of helping her, everyone others Lisa because she does not hide her pain, nor the effects that pain has had on her. so she becomes the dangerous freak everyone made her out to be.

then we have Janet — Janet, whose father died in the Vietnam war, who appears to have ignored her trauma exactly the way society wanted her to. she buried her pain in order to fit into traditional feminine roles: she’s a mother, she keeps up her home, she’s thin and made-up and absolutely drenched in feminine colors and silhouettes. but the unchecked trauma ate her up inside, and it made her into an antagonist. she became the very sort of person that contributed to her own suffering. she’s perpetuating a vile cycle.

and finally, there’s Taffy, who naturally checks every box on the ‘traditional femininity’ checklist. social and bright and pretty. a cheerleader, a party girl, toeing the line between fitting in and being memorable. she’s never experienced the kinds of struggle that Janet or Lisa did — until the end of the movie. that shot of the man in the car looking at her, beaten and bloody and scared out of her mind. and he drives away without a word. the minute she has a big, ugly problem? she’s dismissed. she’s othered, the same way that Lisa was.

but in Taffy’s final scene, she’s visiting Lisa’s grave. she wears the rosary, a symbol of her otherness. her dress is a feminine cut, and it’s black w pink flowers. she has just been a victim of events scarily similar to Lisa: her mother was killed by a frankenstein, she witnessed death, she was subsequently dismissed for her trauma. but I have to hope that this symbolizes the difference between Taffy and Lisa/Janet; that she’ll break the cycle; that she’ll be able to address her suffering while reclaiming her femininity.

Okay, so, a quick disclaimer here before we get started -----> now, I really believe that Draco is one the most tricky character to "get right" (speaking of his behavior and thoughts), so I just wanted to say that this is my personal interpretation and could be 100% different from yours so please be kind🥹

Oh boy, it took A LOT for you two to finally get together; a lot of time, a lot of effort, a lot of sacrifice and arguments between both of you and your friends. Just a lot.

I think we can all agree that our beloved boy couldn't care less about girls before during his first years at Hogwarts. Some things changed as time passed by, a lot, actually. He changed in the first place, becoming old enough to finally understand his family affairs and secrets. He HAD to change. He wanted to gain strength to be able to carry this new burden on his shoulders and to show his worth, but it all developed into a self-destruction, never-ending cycle that made him feel left out and alone. You, on the other hand, always seemed to have all figured out, and always looked so calm and caring. Truth is that you also felt like you were missing something, like you didn't really fit in for some reason.

It's not really clear how or why you two got together, but somehow, it happened.

Your caring nature always irritated him. How naive, he thought, but that time you found him crying on the bathroom floor, all alone and desperate, he thanked God that you came.

From this episode, bit by bit, your relationship started to form.

You two are VERY good at keeping it private, very discreet.

At the end of the day, you just have one another to stay with, and you are more than okay with that. People started to get suspicious, though; your friends started to notice your frequent excuses and distance, wondering WHAT ON EARTH they did to make you feel this way. Little did they know about your secret midnight meetings with a boy whose reputation speaks for himself.

Even though you two never show up together as a couple, you actually never feel lonely during the day. It's all about those secretly exchanged gazes, the typical side eye thing from across the room when someone is talking bs, him softly brushing his hand against yours when you are leaving a class and no one can see.

BUT, when you two are ACTUALLY ALONE... Soft touches, hushed words and pleading eyes.

You like to share silence together, there's nothing left to share after your first bathroom rendezvous.

I feel like he smells like wood, like deep forest or something like that, but his smell is kinda comforting (my scent-describing skills are nonexistent sorry😭)

I mean, you can feel his presence even without seeing him.

He has this thing about his eyes, like the way he looks at you. Everyone who played close attention to his gaze could tell it was love and admiration.

LOVES when you run your hands through his hair (sometimes you could swear to hear him purring).

Likes to make flowers appear between the pages of your potion book while taking classes, only to give you a subtle smile and turn his head to read his instructions immediately after.

Your first time together was during the Christmas break, when there were just the two of you in the entire Slytherin dorm. It was the first time he said "I love you" (it's fucking cheesy but I love it eheh). Everything was so slow and sensual. Lips, hands and kisses everywhere. Slow thrusts with your hands intertwined and his head buried in your neck.

His hands are always so cold that he has to keep them in your sleeves (he loves it though)

Likes watching you sleep (not in a creepy way don't worry lol). He'd brush your hair out of your face and caress your face softly.

Would fidget a lot while talking to you, mostly to distract himself from the fact that he gets weak in the knees every time he looks in your eyes, even after all this time. He'd 100% play with your hands or hair just because.

You'd literally yank his hand from his mouth every time he bit his nails or picked at his skin.

He's the type of person who would do hot things without even realizing. He would undo a few buttons of your shirt just to button them up right away just because he thought they looked weirdly asymmetrical, causing you to blush and stutter. And this mf would just tell you to go on and finish what you were saying (okay, maybe he does this on purpose).

You know that the way he behaves around others is just a facade. He is so broken and hopeless that he HAS to act that way around them, but when he's with you, his safe place, he feels so grateful that he gets to get loose from his worries and reveal the real person he is that it scares him how attracted he is to you, how primal his need for you is.

When your friends found out that you were dating Mr Bully Malfoy, they just couldn't wrap their heads around the reason that spurred you to do so. Let's just say that you are not friends anymore. You tried to explain yourself countless times, but they didn't seem to understand nor were willing to do so, and you thought you were better off without them anyway.

He got the same treatment from his friends ngl. It was better this way, honestly. In the end, you just needed one another to feel complete and fulfilled.

He thought about running away with you almost once a day during his 6th year. He knew what, better say who, was coming. He was sure that the death eaters wouldn't spare anyone, maybe himself included. When he first told you, he was sure you would laugh it off and call him paranoid, but instead, you listened to him carefully and decided to plan your escape with him without even flinching.

It was a gloomy night in the middle of the winter. Rushed footsteps were echoing in a corridor, then in the hall, down the stairs. Restless eyes were wandering around the path, occasionally looking back to check no one was tagging after them. A subtle creaking of a rusty gate opening was heard, and then nothing else.

OKAY SO I got WAY MORE carried away than I should and I know this is longer and more serious and dark than what I usually do but I tried my best. Actually, I'm not 100% satisfied with how it turned out and maybe the person who asked it expected something different and more light-hearted, and I apologize for it. Again, writing this character is difficult af.

Matt didn't know how he kept getting here. He didnt know why he kept letting this terrible cycle continue. He truly hated himself, hated himself for letting her come back into his life. Giving him a sliver of hope that she would finally let him love her. Until she ruined him and left him to put himself back together.

To be honest, he did know how he got here, how she got here. How she got in his house, in his room, and in his bed. It was really a shame, a shame that all that pure bliss that had happend moments prior had to be ruined so soon after. It pained him to see her get out of the bed and begin to get dressed like they werent just fucking ten minutes ago.

"Where are you going?" Matt sat up as his eyebrows furrowed. "Home," she replied dryly. "I got shit to do" she explained as she finished getting dressed now moving to fix her hair in his mirror. The hair that he messed up, during one of the best moments in his life.

Matt would be lying if he said half of the best moments in his life werent the ones spent with her. Even if that moment was just a mili-second, it was still pure ecstacy just cause it was with her.

"You cant stay, even just for a little while?" he asked, almost pleaded while getting out of his bed. His question was met with pure silence, the only thing heard was his footsteps towards her. He stood behind and wrapped his arms around her as she didnt even look him in the eye.

"Hey....look at me" he whispered in her ear, reluctantly she did. Its funny really, how just a moment ago she looked at him with eyes full of lust and desire. And now when she looked at him, there was...nothing.

"Stay, just for a little," he paused looking at her face searching for emotion "for me." he pleaded with her. "I cant matt." she sighed rubbing her temples. "Why?" He he whispered while having a pained look on his face. "You know why i cant matt." She hissed.

"No i dont, i dont know why you cant." he said letting go of her waist stepping back, and crossing his arms. "Im not doing this with you right now" she scoffed moving to get her phone. "Yes, yes you are." he moved to grab her wrist. "Let fucking go of me" she shouted shoving him, making him stumble back slightly. He was stunned to say the least, how could she do this to him?

He loved her, more than he'd like to admit. So for her to tell him to get off her. It felt like a knife to his fucking chest. "Please," he begged as he watched her grab he bag and move towards the door "dont be like this."

Thank god chris and nick werent here to hear this. To hear him sounding like a shot down puppy dog. "What about us" he yelled following behind her down the stairs. "What about us," she chuckled dryly "there is no fucking us matt." And thats when something in him just broke, something that could never be fixed.

"If theres no us then what was the point of all this, huh?" he asked grabbing her wrist and turning her around to face him. "You're fucking kidding me matt," she shouted in his face, startling him "there was supposed to be a point in this?" She chuckled sarcastically. "Thank you so fucking much for informing me matt, i didnt know there was a point to us fucking." she hissed at him.

"This isnt just fucking and you know it" matt shook his head as tears filled his waterline. "Yes it is matt, this," she motions between them "is just sex, obviously you dont know that." she said waiting for a response. There was none.

There was absolutely nothing he could say to this. He just stood motionlessly. And to that, she turned around and walked right out that door.

He didn't really know what to say or do. And the worst part of it all was the fact that no matter what she did, he loved her unconditionally and irrevocably. This is when he realized, that no matter what happend or what she said. He would always let her back in.

And the cycle would continue.

episode 4 was Charlie’s absolute worse. I hate how the fans try to play it as Charlie did the right thing when no she did everything wrong. She ruined angels day, he took the fall and got punished for her screw ups. However the writing bends backwards and pins the blame on husk for being mean to Angel, when it was all Charlie’s fault. The resolution was also terrible because she’s acting like a child when a child gets in trouble. She’s not taking angels situation seriously, if this is her overreaction. She never brings up Valentino or what happened after she left, it’s all forgotten for stupid shipping. Also Angel is never held accountable for crossing boundaries. Just cause he’s hypersexual doesn’t give him the right to cross boundaries and try to coerce husk into sex. What would’ve happened if husk didn’t physically push Angel away from him?

Absolutely Anon! Out of all the 8 episodes, this was by far Charlie’s worst episode and they somehow managed to blame Husk for majority of it. Charlie was acting like a 5 year old when Angel dust and Husk came back to into the hotel and Angel Dust somehow accepts this?

The only reason why Charlie was in the studio because of her precious hotel and they only have what like 5 months left or something!!! The closest thing I’ll give her credit for is her about to pounce on Valentino but that’s the bare minimum imo. She should’ve been serious from the start and command that Angel Dust get a break and go back to the hotel.

Charlie and Angel Dust never discussed what happened at the studio/Valentino. It’s like what??? 😭 I guess they might shoehorn it during season 2. If I was the writer, I would’ve had Angel and Charlie have a one on one conversation on the Hazbin Hotel roof, and Charlie promising that she will do whatever in her power to free Angel from Valentino’s grasps then Angel breakdowns and cries onto Charlie.

The closest thing to addressing Angel Dust sexual harassing people is in episode 2, Radio Kills the Video Star, which Vaggie calls out. And in episode 4, Masquerade where Husk calls him for being fake and pushing his boundaries. But he mainly emphasizes the fake aspect. I wished Vivziepop and the crew went more in depth and had Angel Dust realize himself that what he is doing is wrong.

For example: there could be an arc where Angel Dust is slowly overtime becomes like Valentino, he realizes that then stops the cycle. Afterwards apologizes for his actions sincerely. Also, lowkey I feel like Husk would be blamed somehow if he didn’t push Angel Dust away. “Husk, how dare you take advantage of Angel Dust, he’s not in a good mindset!!”

they're so much like. the tragedy of a broken home, cycles of abuse, how badly an abusive family can fuck up their kid(s). itoi once talked in an interview about how, though m3 porky does become a Truly Evil Villain, psychologically he's still just a child, he probably only turned out the way he did 'cause his parents were so awful to him... i love unraveling that, esp in an AU setting where he's got no godlike sci-fi powers enabling him to break away from the reality of it all. dude has to become an actual adult, and exist in the same world as his family, whether he likes it or not 🥲!!! versus agnes, who's gotta outgrow her upbringing and cope with it either way - but here she's at least got the chance to reconcile with her brother. i think about how picky is the Only character at the end of earthbound who seems worried about porky, and seems to want him back, and i wanna explode into a million little pieces. even if he was mean & shitty to her, his sudden permanent absence would definitely just make her sadder & lonelier, like?? porky's the One other person who knows what it was like growing up in that house 😭. the potential for what could've been if only these two got to meet again & mature as people & sort out the trauma they suffered together is making me coocoo bananas i'm afraid. i'm so happy to hear it's resonating with you & others as well!

CR3: EPISODE 63 SPOILERS

I'm literally losing my mind rn guys

i haven't even finished the episode yet as im typing this, currently ashton is holding laudna as she cries on their shoulder after she sucked the life out of bor'dor.

i always had the suspicion that bor'dor wasn't telling the truth or telling a version of the truth, but i never really talked about it cause everyone was throwing out theories. i had an...inkling that he was connected to ludinus or just ruidus in general, and i was right in a way.

him being ruby vanguard is devastating but not surprising. it connected so many things that i chose to brush off cause i didn't want to seem paranoid. a specific moment being bor'dor killing the angel of the dawn father. during that scene, the way matt described the look in that angel's eyes as it died did not match the way that bor'dor retold it and i thought i had just...forgotten how the actual scene played out. now that i know, even tho i haven't rewatched that episode, i have a feeling that the hatred and righteous judgement i remembered was the accurate version.

i don't think bor'dor is bad, simply because i have no way to come to that conclusion when i know how easy it is to let fear and pain and anger drive you to vengeance -- the hellians are feeling it too, and i feel deep compassion for them so i feel for bor'dor too.

for all of ludinus' preachy bullshit he never gave me the impression that he gave a single fuck about the people who followed him or about the lives he ruined to accomplish his goal. i don't think bor'dor was some big wig, i think he was just a kid who was vulnerable and powerful and easily coerced. i do not think he is without blame -- his actions with the ruby vanguard have led to incomprehensible repercussions for everyone on exandria and outside of exandria too. (bear in mind, we don't even know how the apple bee's soul cycle has affected the fey realm -- or any other realms for that matter).

i think that there was no way bor'dor could have survived this night with the way it went. i don't think there could have been a moment where he snuck away. if he got a lucky roll, maybe. i don't think bor'dor died because /he/ was an unforgivable monster.

he died because laudna, ashton and orym were at their breaking point and none of them wanted to pull each other from that place of hatred and anger. they've spoken about feeling powerless -- terrified and angry at the situation they were forced into when they truly have nothing to do with ludinus' anger at the gods. orym, especially, has been struggling with his grief and his stubbornness, and this moment will have effects on all of them for these upcoming battles and hardships.

laudna. jesus christ. im so upset that delilah is back. or at least pieces of her are thriving inside laudna, seemingly every time she uses her necrotic magic. for a single moment, she felt delilah's complete control over herself and other people in a situation where laudna had no idea what to do and how to get shit done, and as soon as delilah had nothing left of bor'dor to scavenge off of, laudna was back to feeling weak.

i can't even process the lore drops of ashton's heritage and his father and the history of the hishari and the fact that abadina WAS an hishari ???? they need to go that cursed town soon or im gonna lose it. hell, maybe they're already headed there.

deni$e might say she didn't care whether bor'dor lived or died but i know that isn't true because she was a) the only person who didn't actually hurt him and b) she was trying the entire time to get the others to at least interrogate him. i don't think that would work for multiple reasons. bor'dor was yeeted to kingdom come so bor'dor would likely not have anything useful for them atp, and also bor'dor is absolutely not nearly as important to ludinus as they need him to be.

im gonna miss utkarsh 😭

i think that maybe if bells hells was together, he'd live. but ashton, laudna and orym are too... there's something dangerous about these three being separated from their people. dangerous for themselves mentally and for anyone who stands in their way. i NEED bells hells to be reunited again.

it's sad that the characters with such a strong history of loss and betrayal and abandonment and grief and loss of control would have the traitor amongst them. there is nothing that bor'dor could say that would lessen the pain orym feels having lost his husband and his father, of him and his friends being killed by a cruel, vicious comrade of ludinus', of the tempest being trapped /because/ orym was the one who led her straight into it. the gods are all good and well, but i don't think it will EVER be about the gods for orym. i won't say he's correct or in the right for his narrowed vision and hardened heart. he took that locket for a reason, and throwing it aside is a calculated disposal of that inherently inconvenient empathy orym has for people around him. he can't afford to feel. not now.

I think wars would be evil because hear me out, instead of it being because he’s to overconfident. It’s because his self esteem is terrible and went DOWN. Do you SEE the parallels. He feels like the chain doesn’t care about him bc self esteem issues be relating in the microwave. But Dink is the one who tells him it’s ok makes him feel loved like he’s important he listens to him he makes wars feel like he matters to SOMEBODY. And it hurts even more when he learns Dink was using him, because if the only person he thought truly loved him was using him, does that mean he’s unlovable that dink was lying when he said those things is wars really just what the chain thought he was? It makes it harder to adjust to being with the chain again. Because he doesn’t understand why they’d want him back. He’s not even technically they’re brother. Why do they still want him?

hmmm, I can definitely see it. I think it would take a LOT to get him to turn against the others though. Even if he genuinely fully believed they didn’t care about him at all, I don’t think he’d ever want to betray them and prove to them he’s horrible (if he thinks thats how they see him), and I don’t think he’d ever want to hurt them. Dink would have to convince him somehow that joining HIM would protect the others, or that Dink was the only one who could save them or something, and he’d have to be incredibly persistent and manipulative to weasel his way into Wars’s head. Maybe Dink even promises if Warriors joins him he can break the cycle or something and spare whatever heroes would come after Wars. I don’t think Warriors would ever intentionally hurt the others, if he betrayed them it would be because he fully believed what he was doing was helping them. Unless they all did something absolutely HORRIFIC to him that broke his trust and he felt he needed to get revenge? But I think he cares about the others too much to ever hurt them intentionally

Personally, if Wars was going to turn to the dark side, I don’t think he’d let himself be second in command to ANYONE. No matter how low his self esteem gets, I don’t think he’d ever want to feel like he’s taking orders from someone higher than him again

But I can see this, and it’d make a really interesting fic idea! fuckin RIP to my boy Warriors and his identity issues 😭

jing yuan, same thing, except he wasn’t scared to hold them. A+ dad, would 100% make dad jokes (save yanqing and jy’s mate for the love of aeons), giving his mate a break if they needed it with what he could handle (like feeding, changing diapers, etc) he would probably pout if he had to let them go bc they needed to be fed or if he had to go to back to work because fu xuan caught him slackin and realized he was lazing off at home to get out of doing paperwork

His omega got pregnant the day their heat/rut cycles synced up for the first time.

When he heard the news he wasn't entirely sure what to do at that point but didn't throw a fuss when his omega decided to keep the pup. He watches over them like he would if he was in rut which has almost lead to a few people(Kafka) to almost lose their limbs when they got too close to his mate for his liking.

Wasn't present during the birth as a script had to be completed but he's present afterwards and is stunned to see his smiling, though exhausted, omega with their new pup.

With how cautious he is as he approaches their side you'd think there was some sort of enemy in the room but it's just a baby. He doesn't reach for them or do much except stare at them like they could attack at any moment. His omega understanding he's simply out of his element and worried about his own strength and mara, offers up their pup for him to hold, gently guiding his hands and arms into the proper position before handing him their pup.

He actually shakes before the pup is in his arms but stills almost instantly once he feels how warm they are through their little blanket. It's a sweet sight seeing him relax and calm down from his anxiety that his omega is surprised how stubbornly he clings to them when it's time for them to nurse their young.

It's comical how he twists himself to the side to keep their hands away from the pup, Kafka and Silver Wolf snicker as they come in with gifts. He eventually relents though after all their pup needs to be fed but as soon as they're done he wants them in his arms again.

More than happy to take the pup to tend to them while his omega rests. He'll feed, change, etc his pup just good luck getting them back.

Jing Yuan #1 Dad

His omega gets pregnant the same way Blade's mate did, during the first time their heat/ruts cycles sync. Of course the biggest difference is he made absolutely sure they'd be knocked up by the time the week was over.

Made sure nothing would stop him from being present for their pups birth, he even asked Fu Xuan to divine the exact time and date to make sure he had it off. Present during the birth and his hand might be broken but details, it was worth it he tells his mate as they apologize.

Holds his pup carefully with a little assistance in getting them into his arm while Bailu mends his hand. He's absolutely smitten and pouts when he has to let go of their pup so they can be taken care of.

Best Dad award goes to him as he's taking care of his pup without being asked while his omega recovers their strength. He might get Yanqing to help so he gets used to handling the little one and learning his responsibilities as their older brother.

It's like he's been waiting his whole life just to be able to make dad jokes. His mate and Yanqing are sick of him already.

Gets into all sort of trouble because he's using the pup as an excuse to leave work. Yanqing and Fu Xuan will drag his butt back to work while he pouts having to leave the pup home. On some days he'll bring the pup with him to work including meetings. Mimi adores their pup to bits and will watch over them as they sleep, Jing Yuan has to fight them for the pup because she will not let him have them it's hilarious.

OH HEY YOU FOUND RAENA... it's a little funny how you seem to find the guys related to novaturient in one way or another, but they're silly raena mondlicht iuris (that's his full name) is in two different settings, actually! one of them would be kescorp (which i already elaborated on in my post about scylla); and another one is in novaturient, where he briefly works as a lawyer under peneume (from project martyr!) i'll divide them into their own separate paragraphs just for claritys sake, buuuut: kescorp raena and novaturient raena are actually quite different, but maintain one principle/essence kescorp's raena is just some lawyer guy. he works in the sanitization department, but really, he mostly takes care of any legal issues regarding the facility, and the various crimes against the head's alws that are committed. he gets absolutely no breaks, and is just constantly struggling. during this time, he's able to meet azazel, who's been given special permissions from the manager himself to do fuck all, pretty much. and constantly has to ask raena to take care of the various crimes (usually some form of murder. i dont remember LOL i just remember the vehicular manslaughter comic that neon made) that they commit. as this goes on, they develop a "relationship" and hit it off from there, but hera decides to troll them a bit and essentially starts straining their relationship to the point that they both just kind of, distort and start fighting. and afterwards hera returns them to normal and this weird cycle starts

novaturient's raena is honestly some of my favorite writing. he's azazel's girlfriend! they're coworkers, and i'm pretty sure it was azazel themselves who had helped raena get a position there after raena himself had some work struggles. though after a series of bad events, raena eventually had to get a magical girl contract and divide himself between law work at the office, and having to go out there and fight vagabonds. it's terribly straining and honestly sad to watch him change overtime, since there *is* a difference between how they look during this time. though i won't elaborate much on what happens with raena and azazel, since i forget exactly how much neon has shared about the plot of projmar, all i'll keep elaborating on is that iuris is not his birth last name; he just changed it to keep distance from his parents since they did help do some pretty bad things in one of the districts at some point he also has a sister—mikhailis aracea! who is currently misha kiselyov's adoptive daughter ^_^ oh yeah. one shitpost from him is that he rejected helping ulysses through one of his many divorces because raena refuses to do any sort of family law in the city. sooooooooo HES ONE OF MY FAVORITE BLORBOS THOUGH IM SO GLAD YOU LIKE HIM! he has a lot of inspiration from the whole little red story (he sometimes just is the girl, the wolf, the lumberjack or all at once) and raena/azazel's relationship is so so very important to me. all ill finish on is the fact that raena actually really wanted to marry azazel, but well....................... teehee

2 Unlimited - "No Limit (Rap Version)" 1992 Eurodance / Techno / Eurohouse

If you're an American, you might think that the biggest tune that Belgian-Dutch dance project 2 Unlimited ever put out was their 1991 debut single, "Get Ready for This," which, absurdly, managed to earn its keep as the country's #1 sports anthem, and might still actually hold that same title to this very day. And maybe you don't remember how the trailer for the first Air Bud movie went exactly either, but as you're reading this and trying to piece it all together in your head right now, let me just stop you and tell you that, yes, of course, "Get Ready for This" starts playing when Buddy shows up for his first official game! I mean, it would basically be sacrilege for it not to! That's how inextricably linked that song is to American sports!

But anyway, even though "Get Ready for This" was definitely 2 Unlimited's most popular tune in the States, it was "No Limit" that was, by far, their most successful song pretty much everywhere else. And as their fifth overall single, and the first off of their 1993 sophomore LP, No Limits, it would end up topping the charts in thirty-five different countries, while not even making the Billboard Hot 100 here. And unless you were in a club-equivalent of a T.G.I. Friday's that would dare play this gaudy tune in the US, the only other place where you might've gotten a dose of it was most likely at your nearest partial portal to mainstream Euro-raveland: a sports arena.

Now, it definitely didn't happen as much in the States, but people everywhere else across the globe who were above the age of twelve really genuinely seemed to go absolutely ape over this very Belgian-and-Dutch-made tune. They really couldn't get enough of that relentlessly blaring, bouncy, and industrial synth riff that sounded like a pair of thick metal plates had been wrapped in thin coats of rubber and were forcibly being clanked against each other.

But whatever you may think of this completely insane piece of music, which was probably, really, the hardest straight-up rave tune to ever cross over into the US mainstream, the video for it that hardly ever aired on American TV was spectacular. I mean, they built the set to look like they were performing from the psychedelically rainbow-colored inside of a pinball machine, folks. The only thing that could've made it better is if they had found a way to make it look like there was a giant pinball freely entering and exiting the shot too, as Ray rapped and Anita sang. Plus, I wonder if the metal-rubber synth sound inspired the pinball machine idea in the first place, since metal balls constantly bounce off of tightly wound rubber bands inside of those things 🤔.

And here's something truly astonishing that I neglected to mention in yesterday's post about 2 Unlimited: did you know that in a bunch of the group's UK-released singles, Ray's rap verses were actually deliberately stripped out entirely? The guy who ran the label that was licensed to release the group's music there—Pete Waterman, of famed British songwriting and production trio Stock Aitken Waterman—really hated Ray's verses, to the point that he just erased them! And he particularly referred to Ray's contributions on "No Limit" as the worst rap that he'd ever heard 😂.

But he wasn't wrong! Ray's raps were nonsensical and very Eurodancy-bad! But it also made the UK versions of the videos really awkward too. For example, in "No Limit," Ray gets plenty of face-time, but his role as a vocalist is merely reduced down to the lines of "Let me hear you say 'yeah!,'" "come on!," and "TECHNO, TECHNO, TECHNO, TECHNO!" 😭

And despite the fact that he was apparently steaming mad about this, the song still reached #1 in the UK and so did the No Limits album itself, which ended up making 2 Unlimited the first Eurodance-rave group in the UK to break the cycle of having popular singles, but then those singles not translating into substantial album sales. So, Waterman may have wielded a heavy-handed axe, but the results seem to have spoken for themselves. Poor Ray! 😞

Also, I just searched "2 unlimited commercial" and "2 unlimited ad" on YouTube, and it doesn't look like any restaurant has ever licensed this song in order to advertise any kind of 'bottomless' or 'all you can eat' kind of promotion before, which, really, feels unbelievable at this point. Someone please pay me lots of money for manifesting this idea into existence 🙏🤑.

Hii! when I read your post about bg3 and what could be better, it’s like you I’ve read everything on my mind. I love this game, it’s an absolute masterpiece, that’s an undeniable truth. I desperately wanted sth like this after I fell in love with DA games. the minute I knew I can romance Astarion I jumped at the chance - because LOOK AT HIM!! and they’ve given him the BEST voice actor, the BEST character backstory- better and richer than any of the DA characters had. he feels alive, everything in his behaviour and motivations makes sense, the whole breaking the cycle of abuse is incredibly deep. And really makes me crave for more..more party banter, more things to talk about overall. there are certain shining moments between him and Shadowheart, moments where she teases him or is curious about certain things. YES GIVE ME MORE OF THIS overall with all the companions!

100% agree about how it is frustrating that companion reactions get overridden. I romanced Asta and wanted to hear his reaction to the owlbear and he got blocked by Shadowheart. why??? if anyone has sth to say let them say it.

Now I’m gonna rant a bit about Asta’s content in act 3. there’s quite a big difference between act 1 and 3 in terms of camp cutscenes. while in act 1 you have to long rest pretty much constantly to see everything that’s queued up, in act 3 it isn’t necessary. act 3 feels much emptier esp when it comes to Astarion or Karlach. Cazador isn’t involved in the main plotline so there’s no incentive to deal with him unless you really want to help Asty. Karlach and her soul coins - i didn’t understand their purpose, guess it was scrapped. same as the possibility for Asty to explore different ways to release himself from Cazador’s clutches, to be able to stay in the sun. as it is now there’s nothing for him, just a throwaway dialogue option added last minute that you’re going to look for the solution together. that solution should have been available in act 3–another scrapped content—necromancy of thay. as it stands now - I think mainly because of this missing content, there’s only one option to help Asty see reason to refuse the ritual and even that requires high persuasion check. all that we’re given is one good choice (which you can’t probably pass with a non-charismatic character) and two bad choices with one of them being No I won’t help you which does not give you any additional chances to reason with him. which there should’ve been especially if he’s romanced and on the highest approval. lastly, we should’ve been given a waaaay more satisfying conclusion - once again as it stands now, it deeply hurt me to watch him run away from the sun with nobody expressing any sort of concern for him whatsoever. he deserves better. and i’m too old and tired to write a fix-it fic about this 🙈

Hi! Thank you for sharing your opinions with me 😊 I agree with you, I would've preferred, for example, fewer shiny objects and more party banters/cutscenes with our companions. Especially when it comes to friendship interactions, you really feel a lack of content. They are all amazing characters and I wish we could spend more time with them, it would have been cool to have something similar to the Citadel DLC in Mass Effect.

Regarding the companions' reactions that override each other, if Larian is hell-bent on leaving it like that, I hope there will be some saint modder out there who will be able to get rid of this mechanic. I'd do it myself but unfortunately I know nothing of how mods work 😭

And Yes, after completing the quest for the characters there's 0 content after that unfortunately when it comes to interactions in camp. Don't get me started on our best girl Karlach, they really did dirty to her. Her confrontation with Gortash is the most anti-climatic thing I've ever seen. She gets angry, understandably so, for like 5 minutes, and then that's it, everything is back to normal. AT least give us a cut scene with her stabbing the hell out of Gortash, them staring in each other eyes while he dies, give me some pathos, something! It's supposed to be the climax of her narrative arch, c'mon!

There's definitely a lot of cut content, I don't know if it's because they ran out of time or they were having budget issues, maybe a bit of both. I hope they will add them back later but I honestly doubt that. Unfortunately, the ending is really lacking as well, you can really see that they ran out of time there. Larian promised they would fix it, so I hope they manage to put together a satisfactory epilogue for all the characters. I reeeeeeally hate Astarion's ending in particular, there's no way my character wouldn't run after him to make sure he's okay and to comfort him. It would have been cool to have at least a party like the one with the tieflings in Act 1 to properly say goodbye to all characters (Dragon Age Origins really nailed it in that sense, even if it's brief you have the chance to speak with all characters and ask them for their future plans after the final battle).

I just saw your post, and I also just watched Episode One and was absolutely furious about it. I've been looking forward to this season!

I was so into the thought of new baby Terrans! I was thrilled at the idea of Breakdown having a kid! That sounded awesome! Even with Aftermath giving me immediate Motormaster vibes, I was initially hopeful being like, Okay, maybe the Emberstone Theory about who last touched it affecting the creations is true.

Maybe Breakdown being in Menasor is going to be brought up.

Maybe we get to see Breakdown dealing with raising a baby Stubticon a la their G1 more wild personalities, and he gets to give them the parenting he didn't get.

Maybe it's going to be continuing the family and breaking abuse cycle themes. That could be cool. Let Aftermath have a rougher personality, but be a good kid. Let other Cons get babies, too.

But I got immediate ick with the descriptions of the "Chaos Terrans," by Alex. It makes no sense. And how they are "corrupted". What?! Hated that.

Me and my Roomie spent the entire time going "BUT WHY???" with the opening! I wanted to see the Cons and Bots working together! The relationships built last Season were fun! THAT WAS ALL THE FUN STUFF!

I loved Hashtag & Starscream and Tarantulas & Nightshade! So much was unpacking different trauma from the war on both sides.

Everyone has issues! Explore them! Continue the theme of not passing on your trauma to your kids and healing and a new generation without war! Getting the future, they all wanted just not how they wanted it!

And the Quintessons would have been a great villain! Especially with all the mucking about Quintus did and their call out with the Sharkticons! AND IN EPISODE TWO THE EVEN PLAY WITH IT BY DIRECTLY CONNECTING THE FACT THAT A QUINTESSON EXECUTIONER WAS ON THE HUNT FOR QUINTUS! WHY WOULD THEY NOT JUST USE IT!

THE DECEPTICONS COULD HAVE GONE FULL SANCTUARY STATION! IT WAS RIGHT THERE!

I don't understand why they did any of this. A lot of people in places like TFW2005 were complaining about how "woke" they thought it was, maybe they decided to go back to G1, but holy fucking crap it just sucks. I'm not going to watch the rest of it. I might watch the episodes that Ravi and Wave are in, maybe, just to like, SEE them. But maybe not. I don't want this.

The thing about "pulling a VoS" is that it will grow. I thought I was going to write a story where Ravage left the Lost Light, went home to Soundwave, and everything was, well, not 100% fine, but as fine as it ever is in IDW. @sharkteethies and I were joking about how Ravage would get to be Prom Queen and Starscream would maybe mope a little (the Prom Queen jokes come from there, but I gave them to Swerve because Swerve.)

But then as things happen they snowball. Maybe you don't have to be like me and shove every character you ever loved from the rest of the franchise into one AU (they are all there because they fill a need though). But whether you do that or not, you eventually have to go into the past to figure out why things worked out different this time.

VoS gets very dark and "Every Day Is A Winding Road" is particularly bleak in places, but it has to get dark so the sun can rise.
